It is nice to know that people of all ages appreciate and enjoy the music Andre Rieu brings to us. In my personal view, music is always a reflexion of our soul and character!
Happy Forth of July, and enjoy the gift of music that is always available to the ones who dare to exercise their freedom to escape the "noisy sounds" of this generation to contemplate the blessings of the JSO music.

Happy 4th of July to you too Dr. Barboza. I think world wide the 4th of July has come to symbolize Freedom and I am THANKFUL to those who have given their all so we can live free.

I have to tell you a funny story about "noise". I installed a very nice stereo system in my car. (I spent a good deal of time on the Bay Area Freeways). I never could stand it when someone would pull up next to me and blast obscene, curse fulled, vulgar noise to fill the air with their hatred music.

So now, I crank up the Andre Rieu and blast right back!!!

LOL Do I get Looks. Some people have even given me the thumbs up. I suppose they too are sick of the ilk that blares junk at us.

Chalk one up for Sally!! I have to admit that I tend to do the same thing...I turn my radio up quite loud when along someone who has their music...excuse me...I mean, "obscene, curse-filled, vulgar noise" (so well put Sally!) turned up too loud to appreciate anything beautiful.

Dr. Barboza...I could not have said it any better than you did!

Andre and JSO music is music for the soul and the beauty of his music is spreading, and in my heart I know that more people are beginning to appreciate the true beauty of his style of music. I know that I've been more at peace with life since I've known Andre's music.

It's almost as if he knows what people need in their lives and he plays his beautiful violin music to make people happy. All his songs are wonderful and have a special place in my heart. He plays with class, style and heart, he puts his all into it and his expressions tells us that he too feels the music!

Freedom...I believe that more people this year are feeling the desire and the need for a meaningful 4th of July...I see more patriotic people this year and get the feeling that Freedom is more important now than ever.

Life is really beautiful when we have so many great things to love and live for. Take care all.

Marlene, I think that is a good observation about people seeking a meaningful 4th. Maybe they are coming to realize the need to cherish and support our freedom. I hope so.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Andre's Dream of everyone putting down their weapons and becoming friends, came to be?

I just purchased tickets for Andre Rieu & his JSO in Sacramento, December 1, 2006. The Christmas concerts are beautiful beyond words. To me, last year there was more of the violin. I had 4th row seats and the music vibrated throughout my body. I still hear 'Mary's Boy Child'. Andre played it lower in tone and richly filled with a lush and intense blending of harmony. It brought tears to my eyes.

Sally, thanks...you just brought back an incredibly wonderful memory from Andre's concert last year. To say how much "Mary's Boy Child" meant to me as Andre played it last year...well...there are just no words to describe it!! It was beautiful beyond words. I don't know if I have ever been so moved by a song as I was with Andre's beautiful rendition of this song. To watch him up there on the stage, lights on him as he plays us this incredible piece of music, solo, sent goosebumps all over me, and tears in my eyes too. You could hear a pin drop in the arena. If I could only have that song on a dvd, I would wear it out listening and watching Andre play this. I have been listening to it on cd all year, and when I do, I get those goosebumps and I can see Andre playing it in my mind.

You have a nice way of putting it..."Richly filled with a lush and intense blending of harmony." I truly will miss his Christmas concerts this year. Thanks for listening.

The power of music. I too listen to Mary's Boy Child & The Holy City year round.

There is an outdoor chapel at Lake Tahoe & I would love to hear the songs there. It would be a church service all of it's own.

I just purchased tickets via www.ticketmaster.com to this year's Christmas Concert in Sacramento. I hope everyone checks for tickets in their area.

It does seem as if there was more of a spirit of patriotism this year. i had thought it gone for a long time, then came 9-11 and it came back, we were again united, then it seemed to slip a little, but I was happy to see it back yesterday.Growing up I remember the patriotism so very much & I still get cold chills when I hear Kate Smith's GOD BLESS AMERICA.And, bless his heart, I surely do miss Arthur Fiedler at the Boston Pops, nobody could play the Sousa marches like he! It was especially touching this year to see some of the veterans, saluting the flag, with tears in their eyes. seems like when we, as a people, come together, we are at our best.

An American is one who loves justice and believes in the dignity of man. An American is one who will fight for his freedom and that of his neighbor". I believe this. when I read some of the questions that the immigrants had to answer to apply for citizenship, well I can tell you that many who were born here can still not answer!

I looked up at the sky and thought here I am 4000 miles from home for the first time in my life with Andre and JSO it doesn't get any better then this. What I heard is, that Carmen is already independent and has a manager to find concerts for her all over the world. If André has a special or he wants to make a DVD of a concert he contract her for that occasion. At the end of the year Carla and Suzan will be independent too. The good news is they will appear on André's DVD's that's a kind of an agreement. I suppose until André has found new young talents. Arie

What I wrote was a gossip, but it looks real. There are so many questions and mystery around Carmen and I adore her too. I saw her July 14th in Maastricht. It was my first concert and I was amassed and grateful to saw her in live and heard her voice and looked at her in the same dress as in the pictures from Vienna. What an emotion!

As a fan I am new since Feb. 2006, when I missed Carmen. I found her singing in Belém March 9 in Brazil. I gave this news to Sally. See Update.

When she was singing in Vienna, I heard that Carmen would come also to Maastricht, where she studied and lived for 4 years. Carmen, Carla and Suzan speak Dutch. They have sung for André about 4 years now, and I wished too, that they would sing forever for him until they are old and fat.
I would adore them any how as my favourites.

They fly away just now when they are famous. It is hard for us, but it should be so.
At my age of 71, I still could fall in love now with the more then beautiful Carmen, but I never met her.

André will never disappoint us, and could ask them to sing in his concerts as often as possible.
André has been always as a father for them. They will sing with pleasure for him.
I am sure André will find new talents and you will adore them too.
It could also be possible, that they sign an extension of their contracts for a year or so. Carla did that last year.

I don't know anything about old JSO members, Mackey.
Once I liked Renate Dirkx and suddenly she was gone.
Than I liked Carmen and suddenly she was gone too. It is hard, but that's live!
Wish me strength, I do it for you.

Hi Arie: Oh how was the concert? Did you get to meet a lot of the fans? Enjoy the show? Talk to Carmen? Visit with anyone in the JSO?

I think you are right about Andre always bringing us new talent. Sad as it is to see things change, young people do like to move on. As with the Tenors we have new voices and personalities to replace those who have gone, but we never forget them.

I hope all is well with you.

              Hallo dear Sally,
There was the habitual Sound check in the afternoon and I took some pictures near to the stage.
These pictures were not successful, a pity.

Suddenly I saw Carmen walking fast and far away leaving the concert area.
I couldn’t reach her. Carmen was already gone.

I had a letter from Brazil from Dolly for her and for Carla.

July 14 2006 we had a Fan dinner in the restaurant Charlemagne. You can see clearly the name of this place at the moment when André plays just in front of it, at your homepage.
All the Fans were so sweet to me they hug me and kiss me if I was an old friend. They knew my name already. I felt very happy.

The concert was a highlight for me. I don't have pictures from it.

The next day July 15 2006 we had a Fan picnic in the “Stadspark”
Here I could meet more fans from Germany.

I hope Noel is there too.

I am anxiously awaiting my Songs from My Heart DVD from the boutique. Are there any new DVD's out. I have bought all that I could get from Barnes and Noble. I have watched my stash to death and still need more.

I am THRILLED that Carmen appeared at a recent show. I know we are all praying for her return. She was an excellent part of the JSO. All of the others are GREAT too. I hate seeing any of them go anywhere else. It's like breaking up a family.

If anyone can tell me the name of the male violinist from several years back, I would greatly appreciate it. He had brown curly hair and was usually playing next to Cord Peters. He was in the Royal Albert DVD, Dreaming, Live in Dublin, etc. I plan to order some of the books from the boutique. I think one covers the orchestra members.

Thanks for all of the hard work maintaining this wonderful site.

Is this the JSO Member?  (knew I'd find the photo if I actually looked!)

This is what Andre had to say:

            Jan Baruschke, violin

We met Jan and Cord while taping a television show in Germany. They introduced themselves to me and said they were very interested in playing with the Johann Strauss Orchestra. I arranged an audition for the following day. Their enthusiasm was overwhelming: that very same day they both gave notice to their landlords and within a week they had moved to Maastricht. Jan still commutes regularly to Lübeck to complete his violin studies.

Jan has a great love for old violins. His hobby is tracking down lovely instruments that haven’t been played for years and restoring them to good condition.

              Dear WONDERFUL Shirley,

Yes, that is the JSO violinist that I was referring to. As usual, you have come thru with more informtaion than I would have hoped for and PICTURES!!

Jan and Cord have always impressed me with their enthusiasm. Jan has the kindest, nicest look about him. He must be a tender caring soul if his facial expressions mean anything. I also love the spot on the Dublin DVD where Cord blows a kiss and a wink at the camera. It is hilarious. The women in my house just love Cord and Jan. I have been around music professionals since childhood. Most of them were "quirky" to be as nice as possible. The JSO seem to be so down to earth and pleasant. Every fan account I've read about encounters with orchestra members have been how nice they are. That's rare in the professional music world.

Thanks again for all your help in my quest to learn more about all of these wonderful people that have brought so much joy and beautiful music into our lives. You're a treasure Shirley.

I, Sally live in Fairfield, CA and it is HOT HOT HOT here this week. (yuck!)
I'm looking to trade with someone who has cooler weather.

Anyway...I'll work on that page for Jan and I will send you another photo I found.

I greatly appreciate the tremendous effort that you put forth keeping all of us fans in good information and pictures of our beloved "Andre and company". Thanks for the personal attention and letting me know who these wonderful people are. Thanks for your email. I look forward to hearing from you, but don't rush yourself on my account.

                  Thanks again WONDERFUL SALLY.

It is scorching here in south Louisiana too. I live 45 minutes north of New Orleans and 45 minutes east of Baton Rouge. The temps are in the upper 90's and then factor in the humidity for a heat index around 105. Lots of fun.

As far as heat - I don't think any of you would want to come to Southern Idaho right now either - 101 today and 106 expected by the end of the week. That's fairly normal for us in July, though. Other than the July heat here, the famous Idaho wilderness is a wonderful experience most every month of the year for the outdoorsy type!

I'm voting everyday for Andre, I get so excited when I see the numbers rise.

All the information on Jan and Carmen the others are very interesting. One of these days my memory will kick in and I will actually retain all this. Until then, it's so very nice to read what all of you write. Sally, you and Shirley and many others have so much great information and it's one of MANY things that makes Andre and the JSO so very interesting for us fans out here in the world who are at your mercy when it comes to information.

I certainly like the older Elvis songs, but I wish he had lived in a little different era where maybe he could have been happier. One of the nicest tributes to him is Wayne Newton's The Letter. If you can ever see the video you will be in tears.

And yes I agree. What is it with those who think Elvis is a fry cook in Kansas?

Here are the Lyrics to The Letter:

One more phone call from a friend
Just to say how hard it’s been
How their hopes and dreams have scattered
          With the wind
They don’t see that I’m there too
How it breaks my heart in two
Just to make it through this night’s all I can do

          Help me Lord
I need the sun to drive away
          The shadows in my mind
          Help me Lord
I need someone to guide me
When the path is hard to find
Even though the crowd surrounds me
          I’m still standing all alone
          When I know I can’t go on
          Help me Lord

          As I awake again today
And my pain won’t go away
And the face I have to wear
          Shows a smile
Now my nights are so alone
I just wish I could go home
I don’t know if I can make it another mile

          Help me Lord
I need the sun to drive away
          The shadows in my mind
          Please help me Lord
I need someone to guide me
When the path is hard to find
Even though the crowd surrounds me
          I’m still standing all alone
          When I know I can’t go on
          Help me Lord

          I feel so alone sometimes
The night is quiet for me
I’d love to be able to sleep
I am glad that everyone is gone now
          I’ll probably not rest tonight
I have no need for all of this
          Help me Lord

          Help me Lord
I need the sun to drive away
          The shadows in my mind
          Please help me Lord
I need someone to guide me
When the path is hard to find
Even though the crowd surrounds me
God I am so all alone
          When I know I can’t go on
          Help me Lord

Won’t you come and take me home

Hello everyone...When I lived in Vegas I watched a Wayne Newton show in which he read the letter that Elvis had written to him, and yes, it was very sad. I've always felt that Elvis was never able to get over his mother's death...I'm sure that is only a part of the reason. Anyway, I was a fan (big fan!) and loved his music, still do, I just cannot listen to it anymore because it always reminds me of him. I always felt for him, even though he had so many fans, he was still sad in life.

I believe in my heart that the reason I love Andre and his music so much is because of the happiness it brings to me, the peace of mind and I know that he does so much for people...he seems extremely happy doing that.

One man can seem happy and is not, the other seems happy and is. I believe what we make up in our lives for ourselves is what we put forth. It's always rewarding to do for people, it can certainly make you happy making people happy.

Sometimes I wonder how much listening and enjoying Andre Rieu has made people more aware of being kind and happy and making other people happy?? I think that many have
            .

Hi Marlene:  You have got it right.  I know that this music makes me happier and therefore I am happier towards others.  I smile more, am a bit more outgoing (I am very shy) and I reach out to others more.  Sometimes I blast Andre's music and tune out the traffic as I drive home, and by the time I arrive, all is well.

Sally, you said you smile more, are more outgoing (I'm shy too) and you reach out to others more. It seems that Andre's music can and does do that.

This music (most of it) has been around for a very long time. I was in Borders Sunday looking in the classical section of the cd's...and even though I have all of Andre's cd's, I always hope there is one that I have missed and I can buy that new one. Anyway, I wanted to get some other classical artists so that I can listen to their music some of the time, like I used to. I tried about 8 cd's and none of them sounded like Andre. Andre's music is unique unto itself...there is none that I've heard that makes me feel as his does.

It is amazing how Andre's music makes me happy!

Does anyone happen to know if the tickets at the Arrowhead Pond Arena in Anaheim, California, will be eventually available through ticketmaster? I have a whole group of interested people who would like to see him, but not wanting to pay quite so much for the tickets.

Hi Linda, I don't know about tickets at Arrowhead Pond, but I think you should check ticketmaster now. I have ticketmaster tickets for Sacramento already.

Last year, San Jose sold only via PBS, so ticket master never had the seats. Could the Arrowhead Pond be doing the same?

Perhaps PBS will hold on to all of the tickets. It is a big arena and the concert is there for 2 nights. That's a lot of tickets to sell! If they hold the tickets, I would hope that they would sell every last seat. I will keep watching, and if tickets do not get released in the near future, will go ahead and purchase a group of them through PBS. I'm not trying to be cheap, but am sensitive to some people's (especially senior citizens) whose money is a bit tight. Thanks for the info!

Hi Linda: I'm with you. I buy tickets at ticketmaster most of the time now. I even got BETTER seats via ticketmaster for RCMH New York, than I did via PBS !!! Talk about a wake up call!
