We timed our trip o/s to include his concert. We talked to a number of the musicians before it started, and found them to be very friendly. Even managed to get a photograph of my daughter with Tanya (a cello player) 2 days before the concert. If I get another chance to see him I want to be sitting a lot closer to the front. Wonderful memories and a dream come true! It was highlight in our trip.

Sally, in a while I am sending you my story and pictures from Vienna. I am dividing my stories: Sonja'll get my Maastricht story and pictures. You two have the best American Andre fansites! Yes, PBS will probably show the NYC concert a few times for pledges before it can be purchased on the internet. Once I pledged for the "Live in Dublin" DVD many years ago and about 2 weeks later it was on amazon.com so we just have to be patient a little longer. I remembered another piece at the NYC concert. Akim and Carla sang a duet..."Pie Jesu". It was great. I wanted to buy a program with the insert of the list of titles, but they had the booklets, but were out of the inserts and since I already had 2 of the booklets, I didn't buy it. Ruth

Delicate Queen Ann's petals, Fluttering in the breeze. They look like a dozen princesses, All dressed up with ease.
Prairie birds are quietly resting, After their mighty hard day. These birds are comfertably nested Under the dazzling sky.
The prairie is quiet and motionless. Darker and darker becomes the evening sky. Oh, how enchanted I am, Watching the stillness with a naked eye.

Hi, Co-fans all over the world
I've been writing to the guestbook on Andres website many, many times over the last five years, b e g g i n g him to have Denmark on his tour-plan again, but this - just as any tiny word of critic never get read... Well, -those few crazy danes can travel to see our favourite, -and we do - and he knows..! My 84-year old mother and I always find a train to whereever the JSO performs: Twice in Denmark 6-7- years ago, and lately Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin and Maastricht. Did others feel like me: Gospel is fine. Strauss is wonderfull. Gospel and Strauss do not match. Alexanders Ragtime Band is a great number, but the way it was streeeetched out in Maastricht, made so many peole leave before time, that it was not possible to count. I've never before experienced audience getting out from a Andre Rieu concert prior to end, and I sincerely hope, I never shall again, -'course even though I would have left, too, if I had not been sitting in middle of a row, I do have brought tickets again for both concerts in Cologne new years day. In Andres guestbook, I said thanks for a great evening anyway, and added a humble: "Please next time, less gospel, more Carmen" The last sentence did not find the site... Thats censorship ! What a joy, though, to have Carmen back on stage after missing her for a whole year. Prettyer than ever both to watch and to listen to. And the russians were back, too, making "Lara's Theme" sound better than ever. For me, Andre and the JSO are better inside than out: It was fun to be a bit of that fiest in Holland, but 26th raw on a flat ground sure does not pay justice to so great a production. -It was better on last years dvd. I'm looking foreward to good seats from witch to follow the show for real on new years day. Meanwhile, we'll check up on good old Hansi and his "Last Tour" in november. You might say (I do, at least) that Andre learned quite a lot of the business from Last. I just hope, Andre's Gospel visit is not a turn towards a broader audience, as this could be as fatal as Last trying to grow younger in music choice. Last should be Last as in the seventies, and Rieu should be Strauss, Weissen Rössl, and a bit more - as The Glenn Miller medley, The André Sisters and those great film themes. Then I'll be back again and again...
See You in Cologne (maybe before, who knows...)

I was thinking that maybe Andre does things different sometimes to attempt to please more people. I've heard that so many people did enjoy the gospel part of the concert. I noticed the songs that they played and sang were some of my favorites. It's different than his normal routine, but that's good too. I do believe in my heart that Andre can do anything and still please the largest amount of people. No matter what, you cannot please all the people all the time...it's a part of life I think. As for me...I can't think of anything that Andre would do, musically, that would disappoint me. Andre is an incredibly classy man, and as long as I can hear him, then I will be happy. As long as I know that he's out there making so many people happy, then I will be happy too. Thanks for listening.
I had hoped Radio City Music Hall would bring us something new from Andre Rieu. I love his waltzes and more up-tempo songs. Yet, as was tired of what had become 'same' sounding things. So, I was happy to see and hear a new program.
I can tell you, Andre gave the Harlem Gospel Choir a few solos with himself and the JSO, but not so many they over took the concert. It was a perfect blend of different styles and sounds. (but I can respect if it is not for everyone)
I am now eagerly waiting for the program to be broadcast and hopefully released to DVD.
I would love to go to Cologne! Such a beautiful place.

And then please, do not misunderstand me: Of course, something new has got to be there every year, but with webmaster Sallys word: It must not take over the show, and that's what I felt, the Gospel did in Maastricht. The bagpipes from Scotland did two numbers at Royal Albert Hall, The Glenn Miller sound was there for two medleys and no more and so on, and I loved it. --Again a matter of taste: Andre might for me do a whole evening with Glenn Miller - but would it be Andre, then ? I can't imagine, the Harlem choir is going on tour with Andre, and therefore I just humbley pray to, their time in the new 2006/2007 tour show will be filled out by Carmen, Clara, Susan and The Platin Tenors, from whom I would love to hear new tunes. Back home, last march from Berlin, I made some extra pages in my own website ( I run a small village cinema ) to show my custumers a lot of pictures, I took during the concert - the best Andre concert, I've attended - but as I'd feared, not many knew our hero. And Denmark was not watching this time either, when the Eurovision showed that great Wienna concert last night. -We had to find the german ZDF station to be in ! Again, I told my audience to be ready, -and I've allready heard from several, who really enjoyed their first Andre-show. Some of them are potential, new fans. Let's wawe at one another at our next concert !
All the best from Denmark, to Andre, the JSO - and the fans !!

My 2 cents worth..I had heard that some were not happy with the gospel choir, but even if I didn't care for a particular song or part of a concert, i would never get up and leave.I respect Andre & Co. too much for that.I have to admit that there have been some things I haven't cared for in the past but I then heard that many people liked it, so I guess it's "different strokes for different folks". Andre does try to be versatile & give us a lot of variety. I would like to hear more "classical" but he mixes in all the different music. That is what makes him special. wasn't it Forest Gump who said, "life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get"?So too with Andre...we are always in for a few surprises. I like that.

I have another penny here, if I may? I agree Shirley, under NO circumstances would I ever leave an Andre concert due to a reason of not liking a particular segment of music. When my husband would speak in front of people he said that when people get up a walk out, it hurt him more than you can imagine, besides being rude. Last year when I was at Andre's concerts, people would get up and leave before the end of the show, just so they can "beat the crowd", and I tried to stop them, not physically of course but I did talk to them You cannot imagine how it could possibly feel unless you are up there. I do like gospel music, and even though it's not from Andre, I still would not leave during this particular segment. Shirley, "surprises"...yes, I like that too. Andre is Andre...and no matter what he brings to us, you know he's put his all into it, and I truly respect that...and I LOVE it too.
I saw a few people (not many) leaving Andre's concert. Andre had said goodbye and started to leave the stage. A few people rushed towards the exits not wanting to be in a crowd on the way home, was my guess.
I told a couple near me as they walked by, "It's not over, Andre always does encores if we ask him". They thanked me for the information, turned around and went right back to their seats.
Perhaps some people are new fans of Andre's and simply did not know there was more to come.

The first show I saw in Boca Raton Fl in April 1998 there was a mass exit from the concert and those people nerver saw the Andre sisters and the Glenn miller medley . Never leave till you see the empty seats on the bandstand because many times the best is last

All that's ever happened to us if we tried to leave early was we got caught in a major traffic jam. As for Andre, he usually always does several encores, so I would not leave early there!
I would feel awful if I left and later watched the DVD to find out Andre had done several encores.
I do not want to miss a single song.
Andre's solo violin playing was featured on 3 songs, one of them an encore. I was glad to hear such a clear, sweet sound.
I always wait until others have left a concert. You never know who is going to appear in the aisle. I've visited many of the JSO after concerts.

I could not find the dvd in the Boutique, and they said they were not offering them. To my knowledge, they are not sold in America. well Marlene, here is what the dictionary says:
"The Order of the Dutch Lion (Dutch: De Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw) is an order of the Netherlands which was first created on 29 September 1815 by the first King of the Netherlands, King William I.
The Order of the Dutch Lion was until recently awarded upon eminent individuals from all walks of life, including generals, ministers of the crown, mayors of large towns, professors and leading scientists, industrialists, high ranking civil servants, presiding judges and renowned artists. It could therefore be considered the Dutch equivalent of the Order of the Bath. Since 1980 the Order has been primarily used to recognise merit in the arts, sport and literature; others have been awarded the Order of Orange Nassau instead.
The Order of the Dutch Lion ranks after the coveted Order of William. Every year on the Queen's official birthday, April 30, several appointments in the Order are made public. The second and third class of the Order are not awarded to foreigners; they are eligible for the Order of Orange Nassau or the Order of the Crown instead.
The Queen of the Netherlands is the Grand Master of the Order. The Order is issued in three classes. There is also a Medal for "brothers" which has not been issued in living memory".

I would tend to believe that Andre has definitely received some kind of awards, and quite possibly he has received this one, being from Holland himself.
You are right Shirley, with his works for the Sahel region in Africa, he's done so much in the efforts to plant more trees. He's been in the program since 1987, I believe, now all those people in that area are getting the necessary water and trees to help in farming their own food. Andre is quite a guy when it comes to helping people.
I do not know those other people who are in the top areas of the voting...but with Andre's work and the way he helps people, his accomplishments in the world with his music and the degree of importance he puts on nature, environment, his love of animals, and just the pure pleasure he brings to us with his entertainment, he really deserves to be the "Person of the Year".

Well Shirley, the flavor is incredible. ha It is definitely Italian, and yes, it is sinfully delicious, yes it is! It has Marsala wine, and espresso, ladyfingers, eggs, sugar, mascarpone cheese, and what they call "zabaglione" it's a mixture of egg yolks, sugar and sweet wine, Marsala. The name "Tiramisu" literally means "pick-me-up" in Italian and this cake was named because of the high energetic content, i.e. eggs, sugar and caffeine from strong espresso coffee. I have had it only a few times due to the calorie content, and richness. But I love it. There are versions of this cake that are not up to the Italian version. It only goes back to about 1983, they assume that it originated in Tuscany because another famous layered cake originated their also. Now you have a brief lesson on Tiramisu...you really should try it...it's wonderful, eat it slow and enjoy the flavor! mmm

My mother (aged 84) and I have attended two of Andres only three danish concerts, Hamburg match 2005 (not impressing - belive some mediocre sound gear had been set up, unable to play up the very big Color Line Arena); next was Cologne, New Tears Day 2006 (very good), and the very top: Berlin March 2006. Latest it was Maastricht 2006, which was not worth those 17 hours out, 17 hours hone by train. As all other open air things, it never gave the same instant as a "real" concert. You get so far away from the stage, that not even the big video screens can help You. I'll not spend time nor money on outdoor again. Beside "the outdoor pulldown", I found this years musical programme far less solid as earlier. The Tenor's songs were not nearby as good as last years programme. -And worst: Carmen - the girl (and voice) of my dreams, who I'd never experienced live before, was not allowed more than (I think) three numbers, while that horrid gospel took about half an hour. I certainly did not go all that way and spend all that money for that ! Big pulldown !!! As the tour show for the winter earlier has been close to the Maastricht summer programme, I'm beginning to fear, that due to my personal taste, my tickets for both concerts in Cologne 1.1.2007 may become available for bigger gospel-fans than myself. And then, mum and I will have to wait for next years show, hoping that will be a genuine Andre Rieu and not a genre mix-up to scare away old fans. Luckily, we've got a nice lot of videos and dvds to make up - all to be seen from first raw

I have just seen somewhere on the net, that The Harlem Gospel Choir will appear in a show of their in the afternoon of new years day 2007, just leaving time for the choir to be in Andres show both afternoon and evening the same day. Does any of You know, if the Choir really will follow Andre and the JSO on this years tour, or at least this day ?
I do not know if they will be with Andre next tour season or not. Enjoy them though I did, I like the Platin Tenors much more. And while I enjoy the singing, I want to hear more of Andre's violin and the JSO. That is what I like best of all. *just a personal opinion, and yes...everyone can have their own likes an dislikes.
Could not agree more: Rieu should be Rieu, JSO, The Three wonderful girls, Carmen, Clara and Suzanne. Period ! That's what I want for my money to come back again and again. This, as You say, is very individual, but I do feel, that many others than I would buy tickets for a Gospel Night, if they want Gospel, and André, when they want André. And the fact, that Those Harlem guys are in Cologne on new years day, with a show of their own some other place in the town just between the shows of André, cannot be a coincidence. I am seriously considering to offer my tickets for both André shows that day for sale. Cologne is 14-15 hours train ride away, and others - more keen of the mixed show than I - might have much more fun. Then I could wait and hope for next tour, meanwhile enjoying the dvds and Your great site !

Hi Ineke, I just wished that I had more time to learn more about Dutch things. I've always loved anything Dutch. My mother loved all Dutch things and I just grew up with it. It's always nice to learn of new things and histories of other places. Although we have tons of history in our own country, the world all ties into each other and it's like fitting a piece of the puzzle together when we can put another piece of history in it's place. This is the way I think anyway I love your Windmills, they have always fascinated me, and when I read about them one day, I was even more fascinated than before. Holland and anything Dutch, is very beautiful.

Hi Ineke, I wondered where you were! I missed you.Thought you might be on vacation. As I've stated before, I never really had much interest in history til many years later, I believe it was when we bought some World Books for our daughter. To me, history was just a bunch of boring dates.I was more interested in the different cultures of people in the world, and it dawned on me one day....especially after reading some biblical history, that we, the US, are actually a "baby" in the history line. Many, many countries & lands before our time, with buildings centuries old! Well, needless to say, and sorry to say....... it took me so long to get curious. As for Holland, or is it the Netherlands, of course we all knew windmills and tulips and skates. But for me, that's about all. I have your Andre to thank for my interest now. And, what a beautiful, old country it is! But then, the whole world, all the countries, all the people, how much we are different, but yet alike in so many ways. Now, you mentioned the guestbooks, I think there are 3 now, June, July & August. They are like archives, I like to go back and read sometimes, but I think what happens is that some make comments in the wrong section. I hadn't realized that there were Aug. comments in the July book, but I see your point.Maybe it would help if we just commmented in the current book. I guess Sally would have to explain that one to me.
We were thinking of you (fondly!) during our weekend at Incline. Everyone wishes you and Ruud were there.
Guestbooks...there are 3 of them in this form, June, July, & August. Each month I start a Guestbook for that month. This way they are not loooooooooooooooong. I had left the comments "Open" and that is how posts appeared on the July Guestbook, in August.
I think you make a good point about it maybe confusing some people. So, all prior months of Guestbooks are still "Published" where they can be read, I CLOSED the COMMENTS, so the only Guestbook anyone can make new Comments on ... will always be the current Monthly Guestbook.
I think that will help.

The city was actually founded in 44BC & was originally a walled city. It's location in the south of Holland has made it a very strategic locale & everybody wanted to rule the town. We live in Melbourne, Australia. My husband, daughter and myself were lucky enough to see Andre in Maastricht in July.
AHA! So that's where you went!! I had a "feeling" you would....good for you.
And I LOVED it. Great Concert!
Thank you Sally for that wonderful picture! I had read that he was dancing and I could only imagine until I just saw this picture!! What dreams are made of!
Hi Sally!
What a joy to read that Andre blew off the roof of RCMH in NYC!! Fans, let's mail Oprah Winfrey again and again!! She must have noticed him now!! The Harlem gospelchoir was also in Maastricht. I think Andre used Maastricht as rehearsel for NYC. In Maastricht he danced as well, as the entire orchestra did. Sally, in a while I am sending you my story and pictures from Vienna. I am dividing my stories: Sonja'll get my Maastricht story and pictures. You two have the best American Andre fansites! By the way fans, are you still voting?? Andre must become the Dutch person of the year! Yeahhh!
Ineke.
Hi Ineke: Good idea about the stories as I am certain fans go to both sites, heck we go to all Andre Sites!
Yes, the RCMH concert was a dream come true. Such fun for everyone.
It's back to work for me today, and I'll work on the stories and web tonight.

Since You are so close to the source, would You know if there was a DVD made in Mastricht? If there was, will be availabe to buy it, have Yoy heard anything? Kati
Hi Kati: No DVD of Maastricht. There is the Vienna DVD & hopefully we will see one from Radio City Music Hall.
The RCMH concert was filmed for broadcast so we might have to wait a while until it is released on DVD. Could even have to pledge for it.
I like you want to see it Right Now!

Thanks for the info Sally, I will keep an wyw on it, hoping it will come sooner than later. Kati

Remember this song? sung by Frank Sinatra? Well, Andre can be singing the same song now! Let's make him "person of the year"!!!!
Hi Shirley!
I'm with you! Let's make him that "person"!
Ohhhhh, yeahhh!!!
Sarah
Hi SARAH! you are making the rounds today aren't you?
I'm with you too!!! Person of the Year...ANDRE RIEU
Shirley: Andre did a Sinatra song. I thought it would be New York New York, and I hope he does record that as it would be so great by the JSO.
Andre played 'MY WAY'. It was wonderful. He played solo for the first part and we all sat mesmerized to hear the pouring of love from his violin.
Well now...if that don't beat all!!! I have often thought that "MY WAY" should be Andre's theme song! He DID do "his way" and it worked!
"My Way"...SOLO?? Oh my...now I am dreaming. I am getting goosebumps just thinking about it!!
That it a big surprise, New York!! I am so glad to hear that His orchestra brought very famous music for the US. I am sure everyone loved it. Always comes up with some new ideas! And the dancing?? It is beautiful! I wonder if He knows how to dance csardas?? What do You think? Kati
Replying Joan: I agree with everyone else. YES! Let's make Andre Rieu Person of the Year. I am really looking forward to seeing the concerts on DVD that I missed and looking forward to the coming ones that I have tickets for in December.
Hi Shirley and all fans. I attended the NYC concert with Sally. I was also in Maastricht and stopped in NY on the way home. You jogged my memory when you mentioned Frank Sinatra. Andre gave him a tribute by playing "My Way" in NYC. It was a great concert and will be on PBS soon.
Hi Ruth,I knew you went to Maastricht, but didn't know you were going to NY.I hope our PBS shows that. Sometimes we are the last to know! If I don't get a chance to see that NY video I'll just die!! I'll order the Vienna one, but I'm not sure how the NY one will be handled. Will we have to order through PBS?
Hi Shirley,
Yes, PBS will probably show the NYC concert a few times for pledges before it can be purchased on the internet. Ruth
I received an e- mail months ago from the Dejongs about tickets being available from PBS 39 in Allentown Pa to the NY concert. I hit the site and ordered 1 that night
I flew to Pa Friday and on Sat was shocked .There were 20 busses and 1000 people going from there to the concert.
It was an less then 2 hr ride to the hall and we had 3 hrs to walk NYand look around
The hall "my first time there was beautiful and the acoustics the best"
I have been to 8 concerts including all 3 last year in Maastricht "which I considered the best of all"
and will say this is high on the list.
I had a great visit but the 10 hr delay in the airport sure left me tired when I got hoe Monday morning at 6 when my paper was being delivered
Hi Joe: Wow what an experience you had! I saw all those buses and the people on the corners holding "39" signs to help people back to the bus after the concert.
Did 39 take the entire 1st Mezzanine? I know there were a lot of people having fun up there! Seems like you had a large party.
Oh, I know about the airport delays. lol. I spent the night in Dallas. It took me 2 days to make it to New York.
Please write a story for us about your trip and concert. I am certain we would all love to hear about it.
Sally
You saw all the 39 signs and so did I but I was told when I got off the buss to mark the location to get back on
After the concert I fought the bike carts horse carriages, limos and taxies and got back to that location 2 blocks away {nothing there} I went back to the hall and saw a lady with number 4 on her sign and she was complaining a passenger was missing {me}
I showed her my pass and we ran to the buss it was in the oppisite direction and ready to go
guess what everybody knew my name and said "nice to see me" I wasn't the only one to make that extra trip but I was the last anyway it was nice to be recognized by so many people
HAHAHA I think you love to make Grand Entrances!
I am still on floating on the cloud Andre created on stage. The songs are playing in my head. I am happy Andre gave us more violin solos than before. Sometimes I like to hear the clear sounds of his violin and the emotion he brings out of it.
76 Violins Lead the Orchestra! Well, we can write new words to old songs. lol
YES! MORE violin music, please!Andre is capable of playing like a Paganini. To watch the expression as he plays, well, you know his heart is in it.He feels it, we feel it.In fact, I would like to hear more music and less singing sometime(not all the time), but there are so many talented orchestra members. I love to see them "shine". So...now we have Andre, the "groover", Andre the "rapper", what in the world will he do next? Stay tuned everybody!
You are right Shirley. It was good to hear more of Andre's violin. The new sax player was so cute with her boogy sax playing. She had the place rockin with her and Andre seemed to be enjoying it. Sanne really showed her talents and we all were out of our seats.
I wish we could see this broadcast now. Waiting is Difficult!
Yes, we would all love to hear about it Joe. Sounds like you had a great time, so please share your story with us, as we cannot have enough stories about an Andre concert!

They're all very sweet.
They make our day sunny,
The birds go "tweet, tweet".
They smile when they're happy,
They cry when they're sad,
Best friends are like honey,
So, they don't get very mad.
Best friends are together
No matter what's wrong
No matter what weather,
They're always so strong!
Best friends are like money
We treasure them long
I'm glad you're my honey
We'll always grow strong!!!

Hello dear Fans!
This is my favorite poem...
Stillness
The prairie is quiet and motionless.
Darker and darker becomes the evening sky.
Wolves are howling blood-curdling howls.
Oh, how I wish I could stand there,
Watching the stillnes with a naked eye.
Delicate Queen Ann's petals,
Fluttering in the breeze.
They look like a dozen princesses,
All dressed up with ease.
Prairie birds are quietly resting,
After their mighty hard day.
These birds are comfertably nested
Under the dazzling sky.
The prairie is quiet and motionless.
Darker and darker becomes the evening sky.
Oh, how enchanted I am,
Watching the stillness with a naked eye.

Hi Shirley,
In Vienna we visited the famous Hundertwasser houses. As I wrote, Mr. Hundertwasser was (he died a few years ago)an architect with lots of colors and imagination in his buildings. Like Mr. Gaudi was in Spain. (Ever been in Barcelona?? There you'll see amazing Gaudi buildings). Well, Hundertwasser also designed the public toilets in that area. A real pleasure to visit!!
Hi Andre Fans,
I accidently posted this message on the July guestbook so I pasted it here too.
My husband, Jim, was reading Business Week and an article referred to a website, www.youtube.com where people can post and view videos on various subjects. If you do a search for Rieu, you will find videos by amatures at the concerts. One that I watched was from the recent Vienna concert. Enjoy!!! Ruth
Well I have gone to this site many times and I never even thought of looking for Andre! Thank you soooo much for the tip! Now I've got to go back and watch more!!!!

Did you recognise cafe Charlemagne where we had our fans dinner in Maastricht? It was the "Red Rose Cafe" in the bonus tracks of the DVD from 2002 "Love around the world".
Hi Ineke,
I wish we had planned to go to Vienna too. When we decided to go to Maastricht, it was too late to get good seats in Vienna. We do want to come back to Maastricht next year too. You told me that the Charlemagne was on the bonus tracks, but I looked at "Songs from MY Heart and didn't find the "Red Rose Cafe" there. I will take a look at "Love around the World" to see our cafe where we had such a great time. Thanks again for inviting us. Marlene is going to the concert in Portland, Oregon (21OCT) so Sally, Dorli, Gerda and I will meet her there. I talked to Bobbie and John last night, and we are having a little Andre Fan Party at my house on the weekend of 25 August to watch Andre DVDs and photos on our home theater. Sally is coming too. We all live about 200 km. from each other. Wouldn't it be great if you and Rudd came too?
You are invited. Ruth
Hi Ruth and Jim,
Thank you for your invitation. We love the USA and California, so... maybe, once. You never know. Do you have "Love around the world"? (made on a German cruise ship). It is a DVD from 2002, made for the German market. Under special features and bonustracks you can find "Red Rose Cafe" and "Ohne Sorgen", filmed at the Charlemagne square. Have a nice Andre Fan Party at Aug. 25th. Give everybody my love. We'll have an Andre Fan BBQ Party at Aug. 12th at Gemma's house in Belgium, with Monique, Thea, Janny, all our husbands and Sonja's mom!
See you next year in Maastricht!
Ineke.
Hi Ineke,
Yes, I have "Love around the World" and I'm going to watch it to see the Charlemagne. It's one of my favorites. Tonight, "Songs from my Heart" will be on our PBS channel, and I have invited 2 friends to watch it with us on our big screen. We'll watch the DVD together. I'm sure you saw my photo next to our screen on Sally's site. Yes, please come to Lake Tahoe someday. It is one of the most beautiful places in the USA and maybe the world. Have a nice time at your BBQ and give our love to all too. We love Holland also. Ruth
I have a question, anybody! On my Benny Neyman cd is a song I absolutely love. it is so beautiful I'd like to know the name of the title and what the song is about. Anybody? It's in Dutch, "Ga Niet Weg Van Mij".I could go to the translation site, but that wouldn't tell me what the song is about.
Onze vriendschap was me heilig
Well thank you Sally! How did you find the words? now what I translated is this:"do not leave of me no, ' k does not want that you leave and cannot you suddenly only leave that me after all those years me strike as why you hate me this way deeply then that there even no more zoen afkan which is there never more gone to ' t luck of then Do not leave of me, remain at me leave of me if you want that I change, well, but do not say it me values, belief what another one has not said of me leaves of me remain at me do not leave of me I in my life of mezelf I schonk nobody has given nobody so much attention so much and trusts because at you I knew safe our friendship was myself me holy bowl, tries love time still 1 me Do not leave of me, remain at me leave of me if you want that I change, well, but do not say it me values, belief what another one has not said of me leaves of me remain at me do not leave of me Do not leave of me, remain at me leave of me if you want that I change, well, but do not say it me values, belief what another one has not said of me leaves of me remain at me do not leave of me Do not leave of me, remain at me leave of me".. I'm sure it gives the general idea. There is a piano part in this also that I would love to hear as a piano solo. But this sounded like a sort of sad, melancholy love song.Benny sings it well.
Benny Neyman's song is about a lost love. Saying all the time: please don't go, don't leave me, don't let me alone. You cannot do that to me, after so many years. Why do you hate me that much, you won't kiss me any more, there is no way back to the love we felt before. Don't go away, please do stay. If you want me to change, just tell me. Don't believe what others are saying. No one in my life I gave so much of myself, so much attention and faith. For I felt safe with you, our love was sacred to me. Please try to love me again. Don't go.
Sad, is n't it??? Poor Benny!
That is very sad. Lost Love. Something everyone goes through.
thank you Sally & Eneke.ooooooo, if he sang that song to me! I WOULD NEVER LEAVE!!!!
Hi SHIRLEY, and all dear FANS!
I'm still in Germany, as you know. The Andre Rieu show was on, but my cousin didn't want to watch it because she thought it was boring. I wasn't hurt, but I thought: "How can someone not like his music? It's so much better than all the bad music that teens listen to these days!" Oh well. At least I like it. That's all that matters. And I'm so glad to have friends here online, who like it also!
Musically,
Sarah
I have just finished watching "Girl With a Pearl Earring".That was a good movie1 Did you all notice how the whole movie looked like a moving painting? The lights and shadows, the people, they all could have been a painting.I love that painting even more as I look at it. Lorraine, you are fortunate to have the print. The story, who knows, but it makes for a good movie.

Hi Per:
~Sally~
Hi Per,
Was it you, waving the Danish flag in Maastricht? I think it was you! Andre cannot play the same music all the time. He has to produce a new CD/DVD every year. Imagine they were all the same!! So he has to think of something different every now and than. Fans want to tear Andre to pieces! Come to Denmark, to Australia, to Japan, to Peru, are they shouting. I am so glad Andre makes his own schedule. For with his hell of a schedule, he still looks charming and relaxed. We want to keep it that way!! Ineke, from Holland.
Hello, Ineke
No, -I was not wawing the flag - sorry !
I had bought a flag to bring with me, but the stick to wawe it on, showed up too long for my trunk. -I'll try to bring the flag to Cologne, so that The Maestro can see, he's got visitors from up here. I assure You, the last thing I would want to see, is a stressed André, -and You are so right: not everyone could stand that rough, tough schedule. When do they ever relax ? -But I also want to keep my mother many years yet. She will be 85 before Cologne, and is still going strong, -but those 14-15 hours by train to reach Cologne and Maastricht is something, though.
Ah, now I see what you are saying!Too much!Having not been there myself I only go by what people say.I also heard that the gospel choir took too much space,so you are right on that point. If they go on tour with Andre, a couple of songs would be plenty for me!And I like gospel music, but not for too much time with an Andre concert. But, that's just MY opinion.
Hello Per: You talk about the Plantin Tenors so I wanted to share this link in case you do not have it. I am in contact with their manager (a very nice man). For those of us who are not in Germany and/or do not speak the language, he has provided his email for contact. You can write to him with your CD purchase request (no spam or junk mail please).
I have the Plantin Tenore's CD and it is wonderful. I enjoy every song.
Here is the link: PLANTIN TENORE
Hi, Sally -
and thanks for the link. Lots of fine stuff was in that website. I also read about the missing Andre Sister and her new way. -Something different, I must say, but interesting.
Best wishes
Per
Last year when I was at Andre's concerts, people would get up and leave before the end of the show, just so they can "beat the crowd", and I tried to stop them, not physically of course
I don't know if it is everywhere or just in Fl. but whereever you go to a theatre there are a large group of people that have to leave early
I always warn those around me not to believe Andre when he says it is over because he is good for 4 to 6 more encores.
The first show I saw in Boca Raton Fl in April 1998 there was a mass exit from the concert and those people nerver saw the Andre sisters and the Glenn miller medley . Never leave till you see the empty seats on the bandstand because many times the best is last
I think concerts are not the only place that people do that.I've been to football and baseball games where people try to "beat the rush" home and miss the best part of the game. many games have been won in the last seconds.Yogi Berra used to say "it ain't over til it's over"! All that's ever happened to us if we tried to leave early was we got caught in a major traffic jam.
I was reading a review of the DVD Love Around the World from Andre that was done by Marlene Warren. I cannot seem to find this DVD online. Is this just available in Europe or can someone tell me where to purchase it. It sounds remarkable, but then again, aren't all of Andre's DVD's remarkable!! Thanks, Cathy from Boston
to answer cathy this was only put out in the PAL format so if you find it Inoticed it is not in his list anymore you would need a dvd player that would play PAL Sonya has a good explaination of this on her site Maybe he will release in the future under another name as he has on others
Joe is right about PAl, but it is still listed in the boutique as Walzertraum. To find all region dvd players you can go to http://www.regionfreedvdplayers.com/
Hello everyone, Just a little note here, I found the dvd "Love Around The World" in NTSC format, on Ebay. Keep checking and make sure you read the feedback on those who sell, but generally they are quite safe to buy from. Also, make sure you are buying NTSC and not PAL, it's in the "region" portion of the description.
I could not find the dvd in the Boutique, and they said they were not offering them. To my knowledge, they are not sold in America. They are a little spendy on Ebay, compared to normal priced dvd's, but they are hard to find also. Anyway, hope that this will help for those who wish to see this wonderful dvd.
Thanks Sally, Ineke, & Arie for all the new pictures and stories! I would love to have been at any one of the July concerts - makes me look forward to Seattle all the more!
Has anyone read the "words from the webmaster?Sally has written her experience at NYC.Sally, you did quite a tour while you were there!Love the pictures too.
Hi Sally,
Wonderful story about New York! Now I saw Charles MacMurray for the first time, for he is regularly writing to me!
Ineke.
It was the Dutch who purchased Manhatten. This is a monument to the purchase.

" New Amsterdam "
Wow! didn't you sometimes feel as if you were on "sacred ground"?
Sally: Remember the logo of the little Dutch Boy on cans of house paint? Andre must be that little Dutch Boy and he is still painting the town and everything in site. That is giving my age away. Ha! ha!
Joan, since Dutch boy paint is about 90 yrs old & we remember, well what does that say?
I had no idea. Wow. Interesting stuff Shirley.
I remember those adds too. I wouldn't mind a Dutch Boy (if he were about my age) painting my house!
We had a lumber yard in the small town I grew up in and Dutch Boy paint was THE paint to buy.As for a Dutch Boy "painting my house, ha! If it was Andre, or Pierre, or Marc, or even Benny!
Hi This is a great site. I just saw Andre Rieu at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. We had a good time and as always the music was exciting. Does anyone know how many concerts a year Andre Rieu does?
How many concerts a year? A LOT! I think around 50 by this years end.Maybe more.Don't know how they keep such a schedule.
Hi everyone, I heard 120...or something like that. I don't know how they keep such a schedule either...it has to be, Love of music and the love of making people happy that keeps them on such a schedule.
I can very easily forgo the Harlem, or any, gospel choir. Andre attempts to include locals in his concerts and perhaps this was his misguided intent in NYC. There's no doubt his intentions were pure, but the results seem to have been less than ideal.
Less than ideal to some, ideal for others. I don't believe that Andre was ever "misguided", I believe that Andre attempts to please everyone, which is an admirable quality. I don't know the true reasons he had this choir at his concert, I don't have to know the reasons of course, but I appreciate his quality and style in his selfless ways, to give many people an opportunity to perform and to give a musically oriented variety to his concerts. We have to admire him in his unique and qualified abilites to bring music to everyone!
I love Andre's solo's, they are what I personally love, but I also love his love of people. He wants to please everyone with his love of music, we should all give him that opportunity.
Has everyone read the words/transcript for The Flying Dutchman? Another good addition to our site.
The Flying Dutchman
LOVE THE FLYING DUTCHMAN! The words he says at the end reveal his feelings about how music can make a difference. As for the Harlem choir, I do not know as I haven't heard them yet, so will not comment on that.
I just read it Sally...it's wonderful! The pictures are fantastic! It's an excellent addition. Thanks for putting it up, it's a great work. I certainly wish that I could see the dvd. I'm working on getting a good copy.
I really envy you people living in the areas where PBS shows the newer programs. KY is soooo behind the times.
I have just written a letter to our PBS station and included the notice of the new programs that are being broadcast.
Hope it will have some effect. The only one they ever play (and very infrequently) is Live in Dublin. I am so looking forward to the new DVDs and have already ordered the Vienna one. I am also looking forward to the concert in St.Paul,MN for which we purchased tickets way back in Dec. Sure do enjoy all the comments about the concerts. Love the JSO, but still miss Jo Huijts and his powerful piano artistry shown in some of the older CDs and DVDs. What every happened to him. Does anyone know???
Hi Carol: I'm with you. I miss Jo! He was my favorite JSO member. I loved the way he expressed his emotions with the piano. (I've emailed him at his new place)
JO <~~CLICK HERE
You will notice Chaja van Collem is there as well.
I would dearly enjoy seeing a performance of this group with Jo as their Director/Leader/Dirigent.
webmommie
Thanks Sally, I did get on the website with the great picture of Jo, but, alas, I can't read the message as I only speak English. Is there a way to get this in English? I'm with you, I would love to see or hear one of his concerts. It sounds as though his leaving has been a benefit for him with a whole new career. When you email him tell him we love him and miss him.
translated from babelfish is:
"man chancel ' the Leudalzangers ' are an ambitious gezelschap. The chancel has several international and otherwise ambitious concerts on its name stand: in the basilica of Oosterhout and pine bosch, in stupid of Cologne and the Notre the lady of Paris.
Beside called concerts on several buiten"-podia have also presented themselves the chancel like among other things in the zoo in Antwerp and in the parc du Luxembourg in Paris.
Also the chancel has granted collaboration to Carmina Burana and Proms concerts. In 1998, collaboration to a CD of the limburgse was granted bound of Muziekgezelschappen which if main point had "Volksverhalen from the two Limburgen".
The man chancel has been set up on 11 May 1982 and knows at present a ledental of approximately 55 men.
The chancel has stood under musical control of:
Peter Swinkels,
Piet worries,
Jos Meeuwissen
Hilde Pisters-Ubben
And since September 2005 Jo Huijts".
So I guess Jo has been with this group for about a year now. I miss him terribly too!
Thanks Shirley, for your explanations. And, also the news about Jo. I certainly wish him a lot of luck, but selfishly, I still miss him.
Them I'm being most selfish, too - as I also miss that happy pianoguy very much. Sometimes, the music of the very pretty, young lady, who has taken over the piano, sounds so much like Jo's, that I could be tempted to say "playback", so she must be good, but much of the time, the three times, i've seen her life, she looks as she is not happy with her job, unlike anyone else in the JSO. Grumphy would be the word, if she was an old man - I don't know, if that word covers for young ladies, too ? I suits my impression of her, and it most surely does not suit her.
All the best
Per Hauberg, Denmark
Per Hauberg, Denmark
Hi Per: You said it correctly. Grumpy is a good word.
I Hope if I travel to Holland one day, I will be able to see Jo with his new group. I would like to see Renate too. I cannot help it, I want to see the Vienna Boy's Choir. I love the Disney Movie of them, Almost Angels. That sure goes back.
And best of all would be to see Andre Rieu and his JSO in concert!
VIENNA BOYS CHOIR! YES!!!!!
You want to see PBS in the slow mode? Come to North Carolina. The programming director says, "Andre who?"
Terry, this is amazing, a PBS who doesn't know who Andre Rieu is! Next time just tell them, when they say "who",Andre Rieu,it ryhmes with "WHO". Boy are they missing out.He could be making big money for them! So, where do you go to see concerts?
Terry, loved your response to being in slow mode!!! Maybe we could get all the rednecks from Kentucky and North Carolina together...lock them in a room....and play a DVD of Andre's till they realize there is some beautiful music out there with a lot of fun besides. Oh well; dream on!!!!!
We've added a new review! Marlene Warren reviewed ROMANTIC MOMENTS! <~~click here
Be sure to check it out.
GOLD STAR FOR MARLENE! ah, "Romance"...and Andre's music. an unbeatable combination, or sitting outside on a beautiful evening, with Dan, holding hands, watching a beautiful sunset(or sunrise),laughing together, after all these years, we still have much to laugh about,or, how he still opens doors for me, how he respects me as a woman. Now that's romantic! Or....like watching a great movie, like Jane Eyre, or Pride & Predjudice, or Sense & Sensibility.
Marlene, I think you captured the essence of "Romantic Moments". You feel it very deeply. Thank you for another great review.
Thank you Shirley. I can see you appreciate romance too. I would say you have a marriage made in Heaven! Now...wouldn't the world be a whole lot better if they practiced "romance" not war??
Thank you so much Sally!
For Adrienne, I was just re-reading your Chicago concert report. The "popcorn incident" is hilarious. When we saw Andre in Chicago in 2005, it was at the Rosemont. Is the Allstate Arena bigger?
I depend on DVD's. Last night we watched the concert the JSO gave on a cruise ship. It was just wonderful except it was in German with no subtitles, so we missed some of the banter and jokes.
Well, one thing for sure, when you watch a dvd you always have the best seat in the house!!
A DVD will do that for you. If we ever get a chance to go to a concert, it will only be if can get seats up very close. I don't know how enjoyable it might be in some of those audiences big enough to be in two separate zip codes.
There is nothing like being in the same room, big or small, with Andre. It's much better up close of course. If you watch a dvd on tv, your mind can get side-tracked into doing something else. In a live concert, there is nothing like being there...you are at the moment...you are seeing the real thing, in this case, the real man...he's awesome.
I just discovered that one of my favorite artists is from Holland. Her name is Marjolein Bastin. She does lovely nature paintings and writings. She was just recently named Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion.I have many of her calenders, etc, but never knew she was from Holland. Her work is delightful!
I've seen her calendars and other items, I've always loved the precise way she has of painting. I love her works as well, it's very beautiful work. Just curious, what exactly is "Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion"? What's it stand for?
Marlene, I'm not exactly sure except it honors her work as a nature artist and writer, plus her work for the Butterfly Foundation & the Dutch Bird Protection Foundation.I guess any knighthood is for a reason but "order of the Dutch Lion",I don't know.
Hi Shirley, Marlene and Everyone Wonderful! Another day is dawning and I hope it is special in some way to everyone.
Here is something I found on the award:
Dutch Lion <~~Click Here
Orders, Decorations and Medals of The Netherlands
Article with explination has this to say about the award: The Order of the Dutch Lion (De Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw) dates back to 1815, when it was awarded by King William I for the first time. The order is awarded to Dutch men and women for outstanding achievements in the fields of politics, science, law and the arts. There are various grades and classes, including Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion, a badge on a ribbon. This coveted order is conferred in a public ceremony once a year to mark Queen Beatrix’s birthday.
There are occational ribbons, additional awards, given with this, here are photos of the ribbons: Click Here
Thank you so much Sally! I never knew there were so many ribbons and awards! I nominate Andre for outstanding achievements in the arts!
Hi Shirley, you are ahead of us on this. I never heard of it until your posts.
I wish we would have more rewards for Positive People. All too often we reward negative behavior and the good are ignored.
Thanks Sally, what great information! This is really a nice site to visit. There is a lot of information on the ribbons and awards and more. It seems that the Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion is quite a badge to receive.
If I only had time, I could read so much!! If I only had time, I could learn so much!! If I only had time.
Thank you.
"Butterfly Foundation...sounds great, I assume this has something to do with butterflies...which reminds me of one of my favorite songs that Andre plays on "Songs From My Heart"...it's called "Butterfly", I really love this song. I was wondering if anyone out there had heard of it prior to Andre playing it?? It seems that this song is very familiar to me, from way back when. Am I just thinking this, or was it popular a long time ago? I tried searching it out on the computer, but the songs that I was able to bring up, I could not listen to, for some reason, my computer says "yes" or "no" at the strangest things sometimes!
Marlene,I too like the song Butterfly, & it does sound familiar, but I have no idea where it comes from. it is such a snappy little tune, maybe someone can find out something about it.As for the foundation, it probably is about butterflies as Marjolein's nature studies are about all kinds of birds, butterflies & berries and flowers.I love her paintings of the plump little birds. by the way, since she does work with Hallmark, I found out she has country homes, not only in Holland, but right here in Missouri, close to the Hallmark headquarters in Kansas City. Wonder if she knows who Andre Rieu is? His music would be good inspiration for painting, unless you would like absolute quiet, which some do.
I would imagine she does know of Andre, being from Holland. She has been with Hallmark for a long time and has probably got a good amount of people who buy just her items. It's so "clean" and neat, I really love her work.
I suppose there are those who do like it totally quiet when they work...I'm as bothered with that as I am with too much noise. I do like the quiet peace of Andre's music, and it truly does keep me relaxed and inspired enough to work. Sometimes that's the only way I can work.
I have been collecting Majorlein Bastin art work, cards, figurines, dishes, coffe mugs, paintings etc for about 10 years now. Hallmark carriers alot of her things. Everyone who knows me knows that when they want to give me a gift it will be something she has created. Hallmark flowers also carry some of her work. I cannot resist almost everything she has done. Everytime I pass any Hallmark I have to go in to see what they have of hers. Each Hallmark carries some different things. Right now the fall line is out and it is great. My house is filled with her work. It makes me happy and the feeling of peace comes over me every time I look at a piece of her work. I even have her art on my desk at work. When the stress gets to me I just look at my Andre Calendar and a piece of Marjolein's work and I relax.
How marvelous she received this award. It goes to show you that good people and talented people come from The Neterlands.
Hello Kathleen,
You are an avid collector! Several years ago I found a T-shirt with one of her designs & I loved it, then found her designs in Hallmark. I have the apple pie plate(was a gift), then bought the perpetual birdhouses calender, now going to buy the Natures Sketchbook ornament, the cardinals on a feeder.I have a 2006 weekly planner,I love the story she tells about how she picked some roses and the stems were too short, so she took an antique gravy boat and laid them in that, and as she says"the 100 year old gravy boat suddenly turned the scene into a Dutch master's still life". I love that painting. She is an exceptional lady. And you are right, there is something peaceful about both she and Andre.
well Marlene, here is what the dictionary says:
There is also a Medal for "brothers" which has not been issued in living memory".
one last thing, while I'm on the subject,Don't you think that Andre should be "knighted"? In his book he tells of his interest in the "worlds poor and the environmental protection".Even having a special concert to raise funds for trees for the Sahel region. think of all the trees that concert made possible.I think he should not only be "the person of the year", but also very deserving of the "Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion", or whatever knighthood would apply. After all, he is our "Knight In Shining Armor" isn't he girls?
Hello Everyone, First of all, Thanks so much to you Sally and Shirley for the great information on "Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion." When I have a little extra time, I'm going to do some research. I love learning something new every day.
smart
And a definite YES Shirley...he is our "Knight in Shining Armor"!!!
Hi Shirley.
Andre was knighted in the Order of the Dutch Lion in 2002. Some of the highlites from back then had a few articles in the News section about that. Thoughed you would like to know.
Thank you so much John. I certainly did not know this.I only heard of andre in 2003, guess I missed the "news". What news section are we talking about?
The "news" section would be on Andre's site. Up until a year agao all of Andre's news and videos were put on CD and available thru the boutique. But for some reason they ceased this practice, eventhough some folks did ask for them.
hi Shirley!
Man, you got me going with your comment about Andre being a knight! If I'd be a president, I'd elect him to be my vice president. I'd do anything for him after he did so much for other people! (If I even had anything to give him!)
Sarah
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARLENE.......
May you always have ENOUGH.
Thank you for the birthday wish Shirley! There is always something I wish to have or need to have. I imagine most people are that way...but I do my very best to be happy with EVERYTHING that I have! Makes life a whole lot nicer.
Happy Birthday Marlene!
I hope your birthday is filled with music, wishes, laughter, and kisses! Have a wonderful one...
God bless,
Sarah
Thanks Sarah for the birthday wish! I filled my day with all of those...I had Andre's music ALL day...lot's of wishes, laughter and kisses! I ended the day...at midnight...with an incredible piece of Tiramisu cake that my brother got me. My was it good. (I'll try not to have that often
"Birthday" kisses...
Marlene, I would like to know what flavor the Tiramisu cake was.Isn't that Italian? I've never tried it myself, sounds sinfully delicious though!
Now you have a brief lesson on Tiramisu...you really should try it...it's wonderful, eat it slow and enjoy the flavor! mmm
Marlene, my mouth is literally watering right now! I'll have to plan a day when that's ALL I have to eat!
hi Shirley!
Hahaha! You made me laugh when you told about eating that cake, and sailing through your housecleaning! Well, my cousin said he knows how to bake some Italian cake. Maybe it's Tiramisu...I'm not exactly sure. But, it sound delicious. Well, better stop talking about cake, or else I'll have to bake one! Hahaha!
LOL
Sarah
Hi Sarah, yes, I forgot, you ARE a baker, aren't you? didn't you say you baked cookies and then gave them to friends in your neighborhood? Made me wish I lived in your block!!!
Do you guys realize that August is almost gone??Won't be too long before the "winter" concerts.Hope to hear about them. Wish I'd have thought to try one somewhere, now that I'm sure Andre won't be doing a midwest concert next year.I think I'll be "crying in my beer"(if i drank beer that is).Maybe I'll listen to a real sad country song!!! boo hoo, poor me!
I'm back to correct one thing , since Chicago IS considered "midwest"& they have already scheduled Andre's return, I can't say all of the midwest. But,from what I surmise, no Dallas, no Kc, no St Louis,no Iowa for 2007..(not official),I'll just have to check Andre's site for venues, but, that being said, that still leaves me out!
Hi Nice Peeps! This landed in my email and I thought many of you would like to help "Summer" with her question:
Greetings from British Columbia, I am excited to have tickets to my first
Andre Rieu concert this fall and was wondering if someone could tell me
approximately how long his concerts are?
Thanks for any help you can offer....
Can anyone answer?
I've enjoyed 6 Andre concerts so far, and I believe, the only time anything different from the tours standard repertoire occours is, when local guest stars get involved, as the little violin-wonderkid in Berlin every year. Othervise, every note (and smile, I'm afraid) is in the music in front of every musician. They are the pro's from Maastricht; -no foolin' around, unless it's written !
I enjoy it it all everytime, anyway
Per Hauberg, Denmark
Where were the concerts you attended and did you have a favorite? Do you have a favorite cd or dvd?As for the music, personally, I would like to hear more of the "classical classics",but I'll take what I can get.
Happy greetings from Denmark

Sally, you are taking us all over the world! Remember this song(maybe not), but it always spoke to me.
"Far away places, with strange soundin' names,
far away over the sea . . .
Those far away places, with the strange soundin' names,
are callin', callin' me . . .
Goin' to China or maybe Siam,
I wanna see for myself . . .
Those far away places, I've been readin' about,
in a book that I took from a shelf . . .
I start gettin' restless whenever I hear
the whistle of a train . . .
I pray for the day I can get under way
and look for those castles in Spain!
They call me a dreamer, well maybe I am,
But I know that I'm burnin' to see
Those far away places, with the strange soundin' names,
Callin' . . . callin' . . . me" . . .

Hello again, dear co-fans !
Greetings from Denmark
Per Hauberg
Hi Again Per:
I do not know if they will be with Andre next tour season or not. Enjoy them though I did, I like the Platin Tenors much more. And while I enjoy the singing, I want to hear more of Andre's violin and the JSO. That is what I like best of all. *just a personal opinion, and yes...everyone can have their own likes an dislikes.
Dear Sally -
Could not agree more: Rieu should be Rieu, JSO, The Three wonderful girls, Carmen, Clara and Suzanne.
All the best from rainy north

----AND The Tenors, of course....
Hi fans,
How nice to read that so much of you American fans are deeply interested in history and other Dutch things! My computer was out of order for 2 weeks, but now I am on line again. Sally, just a question: why do you have 2 guestbooks?? The July guestbook comes first and contains August tributes, and than another August guestbook as well. Is n't that confusing?
Ineke.
This is the way I think anyway
Hi Ineke, I wondered where you were! I missed you.Thought you might be on vacation.
As I've stated before, I never really had much interest in history til many years later, I believe it was when we
bought some World Books for our daughter. To me, history was just a bunch of boring dates.I was more interested
in the different cultures of people in the world, and it dawned on me one day....especially after reading some biblical
history, that we, the US, are actually a "baby" in the history line. Many, many countries & lands before our time,
with buildings centuries old!
They are like archives,
I like to go back and read sometimes, but I think what happens is that some make comments in the wrong section.
I hadn't realized that there were Aug. comments in the July book, but I see your point.Maybe it would help if we
just commmented in the current book. I guess Sally would have to explain that one to me.
Hi Ineke:
I think that will help.
dear fellow fans I just came across an old magazine that had an in depth article about Maastricht, It was written in 1992 in a Canadian driver magazine withpictures of numerous places including its' oldest pub /////the golden ostrich, It is truly a very beautiful city with a very long & varied history. The city was actually founded in 44BC & was originally a walled city. It's location in the south of Holland has made it a very strategic locale & everybody wanted to rule the town. This kind of history is fun as it is a living entity and we can all enjoy it. I could photo copy the whole article,
if anyone is interested. Yours Marianne
Peters. Brooks. AB. Canada
I would certainly love to read that! Maybe Sally could put it on the website.
I will certainly try!
Yes Marianne, I would love a copy also! It sounds very interesting.
mwarren123@msn.com Thanks so much!!
Thank you Sally!
Hello to all Andre Rieu fans
I ahve a question for you all. I was watching Andre's Homecoming show at PBS and I was surprised to see that Jo Huijts was absent and there was another pianist. I kept browsing the web, sending email to andre's listmaster and even posting the question to his guestbook, but I couldn't find any answer. Does any of you know if they are still working together or why there is another pianist there.
Thanks
Sima
Hello Sima, Jo is no longer with Andre. the pianist now is named Stephanie Detry. There is some information on this blog somewhere about Jo and where he is now. we all miss him very much too.
Hi Sima,
Jo left the JSO and accepted in September 2005 a job as a conductor of a men choir in the Limburg town Heythuysen. If you find www.leudalzangers.nl and click on the blue line "Boedy Imja Hospodne", you can hear the choir singing. Well, I would have prefered the job in the JSO......
I agree with you Ineke.I would have preferred JSO too.As much as I loved to hear Jo, I think Stephanie also is quite accomplished also. When I first heard her play MY FATHER'S FAVORITE, I was very impressed.Isn't she also a violinist? I guess we all choose our "favorites" thru the years& then when they leave we are very sad. But really, nothing stays the same. And I will trust Andre's judgement to make the right choices. He does have exact standards & I think they will not stay long (unless they choose to leave on their own) if they do not enjoy what they are doing.
To Joan L., I read your post in Andre's guestbook and I'm still laughing! That's one way to get out of a traffic ticket!!!!
Hello, I am stopping by to wish everyone a happy day. I am heading to work (I love my job and work for the nicest of people, and help the kindest of people!) and will upload the Incline Village Weekend story when I return home this evening.
Love to All... ~WebMommie~
Well, here we have it. The Blog was set to Alaskan Time. Now, I'd love to visit Alaska, but as I live in California, I have set the time to PST. Let's see if it stays or plays with us some more.
Here we go.....testing time!
I NEVER DID LIKE TESTS!
HAHAHA Just got home and saw this.
dear sally. I will send the article on
Maastricht next week
sept 5th or 6th. It is most interesting Will try to get a copy from the publisher so it could take time Then you'd have the pictures as well. Love Marianne
