Happy September everyone. I'm not sure I'm going to be getting any "stars", though I did thorougly enjoy them when I was young. I was quite proud of myself when I could see them on one of my papers, or projects. I just got home and read what you wrote Shirley, very interesting. Um...did I read what you wrote Ineke? I don't remember reading it. I was wondering where it was...I would love to read it (again?). I did search for it, but was unable to find it. Take care everyone.

Ever since I read Ineke's Vienna report, the Hundertwasser buildings have fascinated me. I've looked at many of his architectural designs and I am amazed, the multicolored, unique, very unusual to say the least buildings. He seemed to be very unique in his thinking. Even to the idea of his " Your window right - your tree duty: "A person in a rented apartment must be able to lean out of his window and scrape off the masonry within arm's reach. And he must be allowed to take a long brush and paint everything outside within arm's reach. So that it will be visible from afar to everyone in the street that someone lives there who is different from the imprisoned, enslaved, standardised man who lives next door." The "toilet" picture also got my attention. That is most interesting to me because I always make it a point to know where one is, just in case! If I ran into a room like that I would stop "dead in my tracks" & forget what I was there for! This has been a very interesting journey for sure. Thank you Ineke for bringing it to my attention. A "gold star" for you.

Just a short note to let you all know that I was looking at the Circuit City ad in this morning's paper and found that they are featuring an Andre CD, listed as "Andre Rieu Collection (2-CD set)", selling for $6.99. I don't know the content, but I suspect it is a compilation of previously released music. In any case, it's hard to go wrong with ANY set of Andre music CDs selling for less than $10. I'll be at my store and first in line to buy mine.
Just thought you folks might be interested.
Your friend in Andre and the JSO.

Speaking of Circuit City, I was just there yesterday and picked up a DVD player that plays NTSC and PAL. It was only $25 – and it came with a $10 mail-in rebate! That was the only one they had that played both formats – even among the expensive ones. It’s a Polaroid, model DHM-0100. OK, I had to go get one because I ordered the Schönbrunn DVD in PAL because I couldn’t wait and just had to see it the instant it came out. The DVD player was easy to set up. I tested it on New Years in Vienna, one of my very favorites, so it’s ready and waiting for Schönbrunn to arrive. An email said it shipped on Aug. 17, so hopefully not much longer (of course I have to power through tomorrow, since there’s no mail). I hope the new player plays PAL without any glitches. I’ll have to check out the Andre’ 2-CD collection next time I’m at Circuit City. Thanks for the tip! ~Chris in Boise

Hi Moderator Lawrence, After reading your input on the new CD collection at Circuit City, I went right over and got one. After playing it I realized that it is a kind of a re-make of one made in 1998 called "A Live Gala Evening." This is one that was made with the Maastricht Salon Orchestra before the JSO was created. The original has a lot of "Sing-a-long" in it and I enjoy playing it even though I can't really understand it. There were 5 people in the Salon Orchestra and Jo Huijts was one of them. This was also a 2CD set. I don't know if it is still available, but a lot of the same songs are on this new one. You can tell that it isn't the whole JSO on either one of them. Whichever one you are able to get....ENJOY!!!!! Carol

Well, here we are,the end of the first week in September. Remember the old song, SEPTEMBER SONG? As I've been cleaning out "stuff" today, I'm "waxing nostalgia"! Remember the old billboards, especially the one with the advertisment of Cats Paw rubber heels,(yes we really did used to get our shoes resoled and new heels put ona pair of shoes.) we used to have a billboard in our town,"CATS PAW RUBBER HEELS-the heel with 9 lives", and later one that had a picture of a lady saying"I'm in love with America's # 1 heel"! Someone later wrote a handwritten addition that said" too bad lady, I married him"! Then, remember the old Burma Shave signs? All along the highways you would see them. I still remember one of my favorites, "don't stick your elbows out so far, it might go home in another car. BURMA SHAVE". These signs gave us much pleasure as we rode along. Then we'd look for creeks, just to see how many we could see and why they were named a certain name, like here in our area is, to name a few, Pickeral Creek,Jenkins Creek,Center Creek,Pond Creek,Wilson Creek,Turkey Creek,Goose Creek,Jones Creek, & Turnback Creek. Some are obviously named after people, but Turnback? I always wondered about that one. All this on my mind as I listen to Andre's" At The Movies" cd. Speaking of cds, I found a cd in a dollar store by a Frederick Antonio,he played two pianos at the same time, but none of that is important, the interesting thing is that he was born in Holland. he was frequently appearing at Branson, Mo.( I'd not heard of him before). Well, I've bored you all enough for now........just had to write something somewhere!

Well Shirley it will be a first if you ever bore me. You always have something interesting to write, I enjoy reading your items. "Turnback Creek"..now that is an interesting one...sounds like someone changed their minds going up or downstream and wanted to go the other way. Some of the creeks and rivers we have in this neck of the woods are: Salmon Creek, Snake River, Columbia River, Johnson Creek, Skookumchuck River, Newaukum river, Cedar Creek, Cowlitz River, Toutle River. There are many more, but these are most common ones. I don't remember the billboards you mentioned Shirley, as they were probably before I paid any attention to them I like to write in the blog, but sometimes I just want to talk...I don't like to talk in here unless I can tie it into something to do with Andre, which of course is the purpose of this website. So, my next story is a nature thing, and I tie it into having to do with Andre because he is an environmentalist and loves nature which of course, we all know.
So, about this time of year (Sept-Oct)there is a little bird called Vaux's Swifts. Every year they migrate south and through the Portland, Oregon area. The Swifts have little legs which do not allow them to roost like a normal bird in a tree, they need to cling to the side of a chimney and they also use the chimney for protection. Depending on the time of the sunset, these little birds gather in the sky around a large chimney at an old school called "Chapman School". It's a very popular event around this area as this event is probably the largest in the world of these birds migration. About 5:30 pm people gather in the school yard which is on a fairly steep hill and we spread our blankets or bring our chairs and picnic baskets, pizza or wine or whatever else we choose, and we wait and watch. First there are 5 then 15 then 50 then 100 and they keep gathering and gathering from all over to where there are thousands and thousands (up to 35,000) of these birds. They fly around and around until finally at the right time the "clock" in their minds, or the big boss, or whoever, tells them "it's time!" And like a great big tornado, these birds start going down this chimney (about 20' circumferance by about 50' tall)they go round and round until all that can fit in this chimney do so, the ones that are left out, maybe 30...have to go roost in some other chimney. They do this every single night until about frost time, then they go on to their next stopping area south. The first roosting was at 7:46 pm and the last will probably be around 5:45 pm or close. Then at dawn they all fly out and do their daily activities until the next night. Someday, I would like to be there at first light of day to watch them fly out of this chimney! Just type in "Vaux's Swifts" in your browser, and you can see the information. Now, I hope I didn't bore you! I've been typing this while listening to Andre!

Now, i'm so surprised and taken by his talent...plus there is a "warmth" of personality that comes across in his singing and through his persona which does a person good! There is also a bio called An American Tragedy that I've ordered....it was a bit costly but perhaps the library has it. Shirley, Sally, your stories are heartfelt. Thanks for sharing, a pet owner who truly loves their pet, can certainly feel the pain for a very long time.

By Arthur Max, Associated Press AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — Most of us are taller than our parents, who probably are taller than their parents. But in the Netherlands, the generational progression has reached new heights. In the last 150 years, the Dutch have become the tallest people on Earth — and experts say they're still getting bigger. It is a tale of a nation's health and wealth.
Prosperity propelled the collective growth spurt that began in the mid-1800s and was only interrupted during the harsh years of the Nazi occupation in the 1940s — when average heights actually declined.
With their protein-rich diet and a national health service that pampers infants, the Dutch are standing taller than ever. The average Dutchman stands just over 6 feet, while women average nearly 5-foot-7.
Ask Pieter Gijselaar about the problems of the very tall.
At more than 6-feet-10 1/2, he spends a lot of time ducking through doorways and guarding against minor head injuries. In an economy-class airline seat, he only fits in the emergency exit row. He had to have the seat of his Volkswagen Golf specially fitted and blocks put under the legs to raise his office desk.
But Gijselaar, a 28-year-old real estate agent, says he has it easier than his father, who is 6-foot-5.
"Buying clothes and shoes is not a problem anymore. You can always find stores that sell large sizes," he said. "But it's not cheap. I don't get any discounts off the rack."
The Dutch were not noted for their height until recently. It was only in the 1950s that they passed the Americans, who stood tallest for most of the last 200 years, said John Komlos, a leading expert on the subject who is professor of economic history at the University of Munich in Germany. He said the United States has now fallen behind Denmark.
Many Dutch are much taller than average. So many, in fact, that four years ago the government adjusted building codes to raise the standards for door frames and ceilings. Doors must now be 7-feet, 6 1/2-inches high.
For years, the Dutch national air carrier had an agreement with the Tall People's Club to give preference to club members for front seats with extra leg room. The airline scrapped the deal last year because of complaints of discrimination by more normal-sized people, club spokesman Paul van Sprundel said.
Though that was a setback, the national railway did ask the club to try out seats for new railway cars.
"More and more people are becoming aware of our needs," Van Sprundel said.
The club has a membership of 2,000 individuals and families, or about 4,500 people including children. But Van Sprundel said the requirements are minimal, to conform with similar clubs in other countries — about 6-foot-3 for men and 5-foot-11 for women.
I have an ex-brother in law who is from Denmark. He is tall. I'd say around 6"5' and his daughter is near 6'. And I have noticed people from this area of the world have looked taller (on average) to me.
I recall long ago hearing people in California were on average 2" taller than those from New York. It was claimed to be due to fresh veggies and fruit year round, combined with sunshine. I wonder if that still holds, in this day and age of jet delievery.
Well, back to re-reading the article. Fascinating stuff.

So, I wish for you to know that there isn't a day that goes by, that I don't send out prayers and thoughts to all who fight for freedoms and peoples of the world. They fight so that others can be free and happy and live a somewhat normal life.
There must be a reward some day for all of them. They are truly appreciated and loved by us who know the sacrifices they have to make so that others can be at peace. Something that made me cry was an email I received from my "Adopted Soldier" via Treats For Troops. I chose a male and female two years ago Christmas time. I sent them each a stocking stuffed with various things, and then I added a few extras. My male troop member was a young man, (he later told me) named Roberto Gonzalez. He wrote to me saying how much he appreciated my gift, he had been in Iraq the first time for 8 months, and now was there another 4 so far. He had never been given a box of treats before and he shared with all his friends. I tell you, as I sat in the comfort of my home, reading Christmas Cards from Family & Friends, opening gifts and then thinking of the big dinner yet to come...it made me cry that this young man, was touched by my humble gift. How much it meant to him.
I still have not uploaded a site to

I checked Amazon and they don't seem to have it. I also checked the Boutique and couldn't find it there either. Would love to get a copy of both the DVD and CD. Any information??? Thanks, Carol

Hi Carol, you can still get the cd "Love Around The World" on Andre's site www.andrerieu.com The dvd, is available under the name "Walzertraum" on Andre's site also, however, it's ONLY in the PAL version, so make sure your dvd player plays PAL before you buy it. I bought the NTSC version from Ebay, in fact I bought two (at different times) because I was afraid that I would wear it out I can only say that you have to keep checking, it doesn't come up very often, in fact, I haven't seen it in a long time. Be prepared to pay a little extra for it, however, in my opinion, it's well worth the extra!
Also, make sure you read the "feedback" on the sellers to make sure they are everything they say, they usually are as they are in business to make some money.
My best to you in purchasing this wonderful cd and dvd...I wouldn't be without it! I loved writing this review, it was everything I could ask for in entertainment, and Andre was absolutely incredible in it, as if he could be anything except incredible!!

I think I mentioned once before somewhere along the line, that I have a number of medical problems and I think his music has done more for me than all the medications!!! Sure takes the starch out of you. But I am getting better thank the Good Lord! I live in Brooks ab, canada an hour and one-half east of calgary, Very flat land but I lived most of my life in British Columbia. Took some getting used as your horizon is afar. I've made many new friends thru andre's guest book & now here. We are all connected by our love of andre's music & the man himself. To my mind he is a pearl beyond price % that includes his family as well because without the family support & his orchestra none of this would be possible. One can only think that there is a plan for us all during these trying times. Also the version you want is NTSC, with a B you would get the National transport safety board, who investigates plane crashes primarily but also any accident Hope you find the cd or dvd soonest. Try Barnes & Noble. Denon records. * there could be something on the Wikipedia. Hope the info is of some help, Love Marianne

Marianne, thanks for the info about the CD. I did find it today in the boutique. I'm not sure how I missed it the first time around. You and I sound like we are in the same boat with all our illnesses. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia and also an auto-immune disease that is so rare that most people have never heard of it (bullous pemphigoid) which causes me to break out in blisters. For the past couple of years I have been taking an InterVenus Immunoglobulin treatment (IVig for short) It takes 5 hours 3 days in a row and I take it every 4 weeks. This takes up a lot of my time, but I take Andre along and it makes the time go faster. I will be 72 next month, so I know where you are comng from!! I live in Lexington, KY. and am so grateful for this blog, as hardly anyone around here really knows Andre's music. It is mostly bluegrass and country around here. They sure don't know what they are missing!!!!! Thanks for the info and keep in touch. My email is cjlacore@insightbb.com.

dear carol Hope your medications give some relief. This being in pain is for the birds!! I have arthritis, osteo gout and rheumatoid. I just refuse to gove in to the limitations & I see no future is sitting in a corner feeling sorry for myself Garbage happens & you only have two choices, sit in the corner or get off your duff & keep busy. It's is how I was able to handle breast cancer which was caught very early & hadn't progressed to the lymph nodes so all I needed was l6 radiation treatments and 5 years of tamoxifin. My 5 year anniversary was last Jan & so far so good. It was devastating at the time but I count myself as very blessed. The new friends I have met thru the guestbook are awesome. & it does widen one's world. The people all have a touch of joy about them & I think it comes from the effect Andre's music has on us all. We can be a little kinder to our fellow travellers in this world. which is sometimes a nott so pleasant place. Don't think we have canadian servicemen in Iraq, but we sure have our men & women in Afghanistan & its bad enough to have our soldiers killed. but the innocents that are being killed & maimed is just plain wrong. Kids of all ages should not be targets of bombs no matter what the provacation, & it does not matter what nationality they are It's just not right. I just wish these people who advocate the holy war would realize how much they are harming their own people. They may have legitimate complaints, but when they wish to destroy all of western civilation. we cannot allown such a thing to happen. & that to me is why we havetroops over there. We always have the madmen, & maybe one day there will be a better way to help all peoples to a better way of life. Enough of dire straits!! Maybe one day we will have true peace on our whole planet. Hope your illnesses are in check. At our ages we can't expect cures but can hope for a bit of ease. Love Marianne

Lorraine, you touch on exactly what I enjoy the most...the story behind the music. Sometimes we hear music and make our own stories for it, what it sounds like to us. Does it sound like a young man in love? A girl excited about going to a party? Is it rain in a beautiful forest? Dew upon a newly opened blossom? Or the frustrations of a worker, struggling to move a forward in life? Is it God's Angels singing of Joy?
And then there are songs or perhaps entire movements where we can know what was the thought behind the music. The period in time in which they were written, the mood of the writter and where he/she was at in that time in their life. What is the story?
It has always fasinated me. Sadly, I know little of these backgrounds, but have reached a point where I can spare some time to find out. Your words here are of immence help and have given me many ideas for music to purchase and stories to find out about.
Your post says so much of what i too look for in the music. I really probably fall in love with the people even more than the sound they make!

But i really need to say that i am just a beginner in this wonderful world of classical music...and for Kati...i have absolutely no formal education in music at all, my background is art, and art history...and i know very little in those areas also...the older i get the more i know i know so little...it is not the knowing that is important...but the loving of....the loving of the music ...the loving of the people who make it...the passion....that's important...shirl, didn't someone once say that " knowledge puffs up but love edifies (or builds others up). I will miss you all til Thursday!Lorraine

We just finished watching the Schonbrunn DVD on an HD monitor. The content was wonderful, but it appears it was filmed rather video taped. In Andre's other recent DVD's, the production is like being there, but this was more like watching a movie - not as real looking as video tape. Perhaps it was because the DVD was in the PAL format and not NTSC. I'll buy that one too and perhaps things will improve.

After a second viewing of the Schonbrunn DVD we discovered several digital 'jumps' (only 1-4 frames, not a big deal) but the first time in any of his DVD's that this has happened. Also the audio in Susan's solo near the end is not of high quality - our guess is that her head microphone malfunctioned. Lastly, there were no extra features on the DVD, but that's probably due to the concert's 2+ hour length. Still, don't let any of this stop anyone from owning this grand production.

You don't do the same here as the growing season is a bit shorter and the garden harvest is much smaller without the soft fruits which in Kelowna was both bountiful & tree ripened. Wenatchee in Wash state is the lower end of the Okanagan valley which is a very bountiful part of B.C. It is all irrigation fuelled. My cataract surgery seems to have done well, especially in the farsighted part. I was driving home last week (the first time I was able to drive) and all of a sudden I realized how much better I could see!!. I had to check to see if I had my sunglasses on. The only problem I have is that I have also realized how dirty my house has become!!!! If only the energy would match my ambition, but I am slowly doing all the things I couldn't do before. It will be 3 weeks before I can get my new glasses, so I hope the same will be the case with my near sightedness being so much better. I also am an avid reader. I just don't find a lot on TV to interest me, except when I put in an Andre DVD. I am really anxious to get into my Christmas painting. Hi Everyone, I said I would report back on how the Schonbrunn DVD played on the new $25 (cheap) DVD player I got at Circuit City. It played perfectly the whole way through and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The player, again, is the Polaroid DHM-0100. I have to admit, I was nervous about it playing grainy, or skipping, or having to spend time figuring out how to get it to play in the right format, but it was no problem! I’m happy. Sally- I’ve also sent something to your email address listed on this website and it doesn’t seem to have gone through. I don’t know if it’s my system, or if you just haven’t had a chance to check it. To throw out a comment or two on some of the other posts recently, I also really like Itzhak Perlman, especially the Spanish violin one highlighting Sarasate. I like that whole CD, but the piece I like most on that one is Romanza Andaluza, Op.22. On his Cinema Serenade with John Williams, I especially like Schindler’s List. Their collaboration on that was pretty amazing. Itzhak’s playing is so passionate & powerful. I recently purchased Josh Bell’s newest release, Voice of the Violin – I had heard an interview on the radio about it, so was interested to hear it. It’s very nice, but ya know, I just keep going back to Andre. His arranging, timing, and personality in the music is just more colorful & interesting to hear. I am in general agreement with several of you about the Silvester Punsch DVD. It’s probably my least favorite because of the Bond segment. I did like other portions in it though. Doesn’t that one have another time when Carla “shattered the chandeliers?” It was cute. Well, this is long enough so I’ll sign off. ~Chris T. in Boise

I was very interested in reading about Shostakovich and Mariinski theater in St. Petersburg. Ruud en me were there, this month, on holiday! We visited three ballets in the famous Mariinski theatre and we visited the big war monument on which we saw Shostakovich (in mozaiek) on the wall, composing for the soldiers. St. Petersburg (at that time the city was called Leningrad) was occupied by the Germans in World War II. Shostakovich was against Nazi fascism and also against the dictatorship of Stalin and he tried to express that in his music, like a silent protest. (for talking about it could have cost his life!). In de war monument was S's violin exposed. His Second Walz did Andre break through in Holland! I hope you can put the pictures (which I sent you by separate mail) on your website. Our holiday to the Baltic Countries (Lituania, Latvia, Estonia) and St. Petersburg (Russia) was very interesting. Did you know we saw Andre's DVD "Worldtour" on the market in Vilnius (that is the capital of Lituania). I did not recognise the name and the cover, so we bought it. At home it appeared to be the "La vie est belle" DVD, with different name and cover. But did you expect an Andre-DVD in Lituania? We did not!! It proves that Andre is the one and only Dutch WORLD Star!!

Yes...I hope Anyway, the Shostakovich article was very interesting Sally, thanks for all your work in putting that up. I love anything to do with classical music now...thanks to Andre I am very limited on my knowledge, but wish to learn all that I can. I know of names from past years, the common names, but those who are not as familiar to me, it's very interesting to learn all about them. They were all so incredibly talented, composing beautiful music. Back then, they didn't know that so many years later that their music would be so enjoyed and listened to as it is. Although I've listened to classical music most of my life, in intervals, I probably would not have listened as much, nor would I know as much as I do today, had it not been for Andre...listening to him the first time in "Live In Dublin"...got me re-started and totally hooked on classical music. The beauty of it is unsurpassed.

I have only 25 more days until I can see Andre in concert, twice. It's been a long year (almost) of waiting to see him again. I am also going to meet Sally and Ruth and three more friends in Portland, and Chris in Seattle. It will be a wait worth it all!
Sally, you mentioned a "Marlene" and that you have the "article", and will work on it tomorrow. Is there another "Marlene", or am I really forgetful these days?? What article??

Ok...it's late and has been a long day. I usually re-read what I have written to make sure it is ok. Well, I didn't this time and of course I have made a mistake! In my comment I said: "I love anything to do with classical music now...thanks to Andre I am very limited on my knowledge, but wish to learn all that I can."
Sounds like I said that "thanks to Andre I am very limited on my knowledge"...haha...The sentence should have ended with "Andre". And started with "I am very limited on my knowledge, but wish to learn all I can". See what happens when one gets in a hurry? Take care, and laugh often!

dear sally Glad to see that the Maastricht article finally arrived. My contact with the web is thru AOL & I've been researching music people ever since. The wikipedia has a wealth of info on various artists. Found David Foster, who I met in my neibor's back yard in Kelowna B.C when he was a skinny long-hair 20 year old. He has gone on to much greater things Just now he's a judge on TV with Marie Osmand. The world of music is an ever changing milieu, & is fascinating to almost everyone. I have a music channel which I listen to constantly. It's easy listening. Takes no effort to listen. I have quite a few Andre rieu's dvd's & cd's & the schonbrunn should arrive in a couple of weeks before the live concert in Calgary on Oct 25th, Dont have a built-in cd player in my car but bought a portable which I can play while driving. & that's great as the radio has a few dead spots between Brooks, Calgary & Medicine Hat. We have some strange names in Canada. Quite a few are english translations of lst nations I've done some delving into the meanings & that is a lot of fun!! Carol LaCore & I have a lot of common interest etc, including our health profiles. This is one of the best things about the guest book as we as stranders can meet in this forum & share our lives ups & downs. Hope you are well. The seasons change, Thankgiving, Xmas, Easter which are cause for celebration & family gatherings Yes we all have blue times in our lives but we also have much to be thankful for. Keeping a positive attitude really helps when things get out of sync. Love to all Marianne

The trees in our area are approaching full splendor in their fall transformation – today on my way home from work, the vividness of the colors was especially breathtaking with the backlighting of the sun low in the sky. Andre has expressed how exhilarating it is to see all the smiling faces in a crowd and how good it feels to bring happiness to so many all around the world with his music. Perhaps he has a glimpse into God’s heart. As I think of the fall colors, I think of God standing before us with His “orchestra” of brilliant trees, mountains and beauty behind him. I believe it thrills God to tears when we enjoy His artistry; when we express the joy it brings us - and He whispers back “I did it just for you.” ~Chris T.

Lovely thoughts, Chris. You had , what I call, a wow! moment! Our foliage hasn't turned yet, but can see the hints of it.Autumn is one of my favorite seasons, although each season has it's own beauty, there is something about Autumn. The colors,at their peak, are so brilliant. In my back yard is a big burning bush, when the sun hits it in the morning or early evening, it just absolutely GLOWS! and in the background, all around, are the colors of Autumn, the golds, crimsons, rusts, scarlets. Those are some of my "wow moments".And yes, I think God does beautiful artwork.I hear "you think this is good! You ain't seen nuthin' yet"! As I was driving down the road the other day, I was listening to some of Andre's music, and enjoying the beautiful day, the cd came to the part called Childrens Medley and then the Tiralrock, where the girls sing, like Blue Suede Shoes, Rock around the Clock, etc. Do you know how hard it is to drive while your foot is tapping! But, I was soooo happy! I just wished at the time that everyone could be as happy as I was at that moment. Isn't it wonderful what music can do , especially the music of Andre Rieu.I think the whole world could use an "Andre fix"! So, Chris, enjoy your moments of the day. I used to have a neighbor, who, as she would go for a walk on a beautiful fall day, would say "Enjoy the beautiful day, it won't last forever". So I try to remember "this is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it"........ Thank you Chris, for sharing your special moment.

Hi Sarah and Happy October, I was so touched when I read your message about the breathtaking colors of Autumn. You see things through the eyes of an artist. Most people when asked what color the sky is say blue. It is the eyes of an artist that see the pink, purple and pale orange. Do you paint or do photography? You certainly must have a talent for it. Keep seeing these things, even the different colors in the trees. It is a gift. Love, Carol
How special it was when you brought home
a paper with a Star on it?
Happy September everyone. I'm not sure I'm going to be getting any "stars", though I did thorougly enjoy them when I was young. I was quite proud of myself when I could see them on one of my papers, or projects. I just got home and read what you wrote Shirley, very interesting. Um...did I read what you wrote Ineke? I don't remember reading it. I was wondering where it was...I would love to read it (again?). I did search for it, but was unable to find it. Take care everyone.
Marlene, It's on the upper left on the home page.Ineke mentions the Hundertwasser house, so I flew off into cyberspace to look for them.
Thanks so much Shirley! I will read it (again?)
Ever since I read Ineke's Vienna report, the Hundertwasser buildings have fascinated me.
I've looked at many of his architectural designs and I am amazed, the multicolored, unique,
very unusual to say the least buildings.
So that it will be visible from afar to everyone in the street that someone lives there who is different from the imprisoned, enslaved, standardised man who lives next door."
The "toilet" picture also got my attention.
Yes, thank you to Ineke for sharing so many interesting things with us. She is a fun Teacher.
Oh Shirley, I certainly agree with you about the colors on the buildings. Nothing wrong with making one's own way and style.
(now back to my folding of clothes!)
While my eyes are out of computer use, I have been watching movies. I have on, Orchestra Wives staring George Montgomery & Ann Rutherford and featuring The Glen Miller Band. It also has a young actor who doesn't even get billing...but is later known as Jackie Gleason.
So something to pass the time as I clean the house.
Hope you get your "eyes" soon. My, that is an old movie.I just watched (again) TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD", a couple of weeks ago "GREEN DOLPHIN STREET".That's the most TV I've watched in awhile, but i do love old movies.
Always come up with something new! I like the wash and fold and good old movies too. Gleason is one of my favorite too. Great idea, Sally, a good movie with good old Band. Kati
Anyone ever hear the Johann Strauss waltz, ENJOY YOUR LIFE? I'd never heard it before, it has a slightly faster tempo, but I liked it.Don't know if Andre ever played it tho'.
I never heard of it either, where did You hear it Shirley? We always learn something new. Thanks, Kati
Kati,I heard it on a cd I checked out at the library, classical music. There are several Strauss waltzs on it.
Thanks Shirley, I got smarter a little thanks to You. Kati
Yes, thanks for this. I'd never heard of it either. I'm going to do more searching around. Lot's of good music out there!
Hi Andre fans....

And, for Shirley and others with no Circuit City close by, there is always CircuitCity.com for online ordering.
Thanks for taking the time to let us know, it is great that we can share information this way. I will check it out also. Kati
Hello Lawrence! Been so long I thought you had gone to Arabia! (joke)
Seriously, that is a great price for 2 cds! BUT...we don't have a Circuit City here. Wouldn't they make great gifts?
Hi Shirley,
Thanks for thinking of me, even with the "Lawrence of Arabia" reference. I haven't heard that one in a while, or the "Lawrence Welk" reference either. As a kid I heard those references ALL THE TIME. Thanks for thinking of me. I see your comments all the time and always enjoy what you share with us. Best... Lawrence
THANK YOU......I'M ON MY WAY.....that's too good to pass on....
Now I am going to have to go see if my local Circuit City has one! It sounds good. Thanks for the information.
Yep...me too! I'm stopping cleaning my house and going to check out Circuit City!
Chris, I'm glad you found a good bargain. Let us know how you like it. There is a site you can go to to check out the all region dvd players..
http://www.regionfreedvdplayers.com/
gives you an idea on the different prices and brands.
Thanks for the great tip Chris. I'm going to look at my local CC now for the Andre CD and the DVD Player. I could always use a backup player in the bedroom for days I am being lazy staying in bed..and when I'm just overworked!
We all have this music , maybe on different CD, bur another never hurt, just like You said recorded different year, they do wear out sometimes. Thanks, Kati
Thank you Lawrence for the info about Andre's 2-CD collection. I'm going to CC Monday to look for big screen TV and will pick up the CD then. I really like all the new entries for September already. History and old movies....count me in ! ! You should get a cut of the CC sales this month Lawrence.....Have a super Labor Day everyone, Barb W.
I checked out our Circuit City and they didn't have the cd set, they did have one of the cd's, but not the "set". I didn't buy the one because I knew that I had it. I found out when I got home that I actually do have this cd set. I'm happy I have it, and I was pleased to find out that it is available even though not in our store. They did have a nice selection of Andre cd's.
Since this is Labor Day, i hope you all are enjoying the holiday.I just happened to catch a bit of the telethon on TV & there was a favorite of mine playing her violin,RACHEL BARTON PINE.She caught my attention several years ago with her bright red hair and because I also like Beverly Sills(again red hair)I began to listen to her play. The lady is GOOD!.In a way she is like Andre in the fact that she sees herself as an "artistic ambassador" introducing the pleasures of classical music to many new listeners. And, like little Akim, she started at an early age. There are not all that many female violinists, but the number IS growing.
I am going to have to take a look at Rachel Barton Pine. Good Music is always welcome in my home.
YES! beautiful Maureen O'Hara! And also, SUSAN HAYWARD,& LUCILLE BALL. 2 more of my faves.
I have never heard of Rachel Barton Pine, that doesn't surprise me because lately I cannot get past Andre...I will look her up though because I do love beautiful music. And, like you Sally, beautiful music is always welcome in my home! Speaking of Maureen O'Hara, she was always one of my favorites, and one of my favorite movies she was in is "The Quiet Man".
Hi Moderator Lawrence,
After reading your input on the new CD collection at Circuit City, I went right over and got one.
Carol
Jeanine Ann, you asked about your concert. it is now listed in andre's agenda, the number to call is:www.wqued.org or call 412-622-1370
Hopefully you can call now and get good tickets.
Sometimes I forget to look back on the different sections of this blog, but today I went back to the "19 reasons" & found a most lovely story that Joao Xavier wrote. I thank him(I assume it's a him) for sharing his "beautiful moments".Thank you Joao

Just ordered tickets for the Miami concert next April. Sure hope I got decent seats as I ordered them through PBS in Miami. I hope I can wait until then!!
Happy belated birthday Ineke!!
Jeanine Ann, was I mistaken? i thought you wanted to go to a concert in Pittsburg? Or, are you going to both? I hope you get great seats no matter where.
Well, here we are,the end of the first week in September. Remember the old song, SEPTEMBER SONG?
As I've been cleaning out "stuff" today, I'm "waxing nostalgia"! Remember the old billboards, especially the one with
the advertisment of Cats Paw rubber heels,(yes we really did used to get our shoes resoled and new heels put ona
pair of shoes.) we used to have a billboard in our town,"CATS PAW RUBBER HEELS-the heel with 9 lives", and later
one that had a picture of a lady saying"I'm in love with America's # 1 heel"! Someone later wrote a handwritten addition
that said" too bad lady, I married him"!
Then, remember the old Burma Shave signs? All along the highways you would see them. I still remember one of my favorites, "don't stick your elbows
out so far, it might go home in another car. BURMA SHAVE". These signs gave us much pleasure as we rode along.
Then we'd look for creeks, just to see how many we could see and why they were named a certain name, like here in our area is, to name a few,
Pickeral Creek,Jenkins Creek,Center Creek,Pond Creek,Wilson Creek,Turkey Creek,Goose Creek,Jones Creek, & Turnback Creek.
I don't remember the billboards you mentioned Shirley, as they were probably before I paid any attention to them
I like to write in the blog, but sometimes I just want to talk...I don't like to talk in here unless I can tie it into something to do with Andre, which of course is the purpose of this website.
Oh My Gosh, this is so interesting. Thank you for sharing this.
U love Your writings Shirley You never diaapoint us. Great topic. Kati

Hello my dear fan friends,
Today was the first opportunity to look at Sallys guestbook (not every hotel has internet) and to see your birthday wishes. Thanks a lot! I am on holiday in Estonia now. Just a question. Was not Akims name Camara in stead of Camada. Love, Ineke.
Hi Everyone, So nice to read all of your posts. I've had to catch up with the site as i've not been able to visit for some time.
I just wanted to know if any of you guys have listened to or watched Mario Lanza films/music. I have just discovered him and am amazed. Maria Callas calls him the most talented natural born tenor in all history and puts him even above Caruso! Jose Carerra, Placido Domingo and Pavarotti have all praised his voice and admitted to admiration and inspiration by his voice. Wow, i never knew. Just watched a bunch of his films...The Great Caruso being my favorite so far. A wonderful talent to explore...should anyone feel so inclined. Much love to all, Lorraine
Yes, Lorraine!
Yes Lorraine!!! I remember Mario Lanza. I think I was in love with him when he was so popular. What a dreadful loss to have him pass away at such a tender young age!!!
I can REALLY understand your falling in love with him!!! I'm just....doing the same now...what a voice, what a talent...and gorgeous...it truly was a shame that he died so young.L...I am so surprised that his voice was so...so...so...PERFECT!
Please do not forget to vote daily for Andre as PERSON OF THE YEAR!
Not many today spread more goodwill & happiness around the world
as he. As his fans, I believe we can make this happen. It's all in fun anyway,
let's see if we can do it.
I vote for Andre every day. As you say Shirley, not many today spreads more happiness and goodwill to so many, as Andre. Every day I look at the voting numbers and picture Andre as THE Person of the Year. Even though it's all in fun, it would be a reward to see him in that # 1 position!!
dear lorraine, About Mario Lanza, he played in 4 different movies in the 50's Toast of New Orlean, with kathryn
grayson, the student prince with ann
blyth, the great caruso also with ann blyth, because you're mine with doretta
morrow. his last film was the seven hills of rome 7 for the first time. the reader's digest put together a 4 cassette collection of the four great tenors, pavarotti, domingo, carreras *
Mario Lanza. He died of an apparent heart attack in rome at the age of 38.
I don't know if it is still available
but you could try the reader's digest on line or at their u.s address in
Mt Pleasant n.y. Hope this helps you find some cd's or cassettes. His records were presented by RCA victor red label records. Yours truly
Marianne Peters
&
dear marianne, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I will certainly try and get that recording! I'm just so happy to hear that they included him in the greatest tenor list. I think for the most part he was overlooked because he chose a movie career. I read he was even sorry that he went that route...nevertheless he was a fantastic voice. In the past week I have seen The Great Caruso, and the Toast of New Orleans, plus for the first time. I will try and view all of his movies. I love the way he sings opera and the neopolitan songs. My mother was from Naples, and Mario Lanza's voice and diction take me right back to my mom. She also was a great singer of Neopolitan songs. ...not famous great...but great to us! Thank you for all your kind information. It sounds like you also like him! Blessings to you, Lorraine
And Thank You too Lorraine for bringing MarioLanza up. I had forgotten. I used to watch his movies on tv when I was a young girl. I loved his voice and thought him so handsome. I am now going to be on the look out for his movies.
I went scouting the net for links and such. Mario Lanza to this day has a large following. How sad we lost him so early.
~Sally~
Hi Sally, See if you can get the dvd "The Great Caruso", Shirley and I agree that it is his best...i loved the first part of "For the First Time"...come prima/in italian...but the second part was not believable but still compelling because of Lanza...I cannot believe that I judged him as trite without ever ever exploring his music or talent. Now, i'm so surprised and taken by his talent...plus there is a "warmth" of personality that comes across in his singing and through his persona which does a person good! There is also a bio called An American Tragedy that I've ordered....it was a bit costly but perhaps the library has it. I was so thankful to Marriane because of the information about Readers Digest putting out the Four Tenors...He deserves to be with the other three and perhaps I (who am not formally educated in music) would rank him no. 1. Enjoy, Lorraine
Did you guys realize that Mario Lanza was born the same year that Enrico Caruso died? How about that for ironic?
and they both died young, Caruso being 48 and Lanza being 38.
Lorraine, I just found out that there is a cd, made in 1999, OPERA ARIAS AND DUETS,an all operatic Mario Lanza cd. You might be interested in that one too. I'm going to look for it myself. It's probably a collection of some of his opera songs.
shirley...i received just that one yesterday and itis fantastic.....i also really love the cd soundtrack from the Great Caruso...
i also got the book...an american tragedy ...which surprisingly comes with a cd in the back...
there is one neapolitan song on the great caruso...you all know it ...return to sorento...on the caruso he only sings a bit of it...but HE SINGS IT EXACTLY HOW IT SHOULD BE SUNG WITH A BEAUTIFUL NEAPOLITAN ACCENT...AND NEAPOLITAN FLAIR...SOFTLY...he sings it elsewhere stronger more forceful...but the neapolitan style melts my heart to pieces and brings me right back to my own childhood when caruso was singing in my grandparents home (on records of course)and my uncle louis was singing also...he attended La Scala and was so talented....ahhh the good old days...thanks for sharing that shirley!
I've got Lanza fever at the moment!L
Sally, just checked again your Apple Pie Patriots. I didn't know there was a link for adopted military pets. How many would think of that?Went to look at the sharing page and I see that Kati has her Centa and Dora has her Michie there. What is there about a pet that grabs your heart so? I still tear up when I see my Miss Kitty. She was family.
Hi Shirley: I know what you mean about family. I told everyone I worked with, when Dewey passed away, I was going to take berivment leave. Didn't matter 8 days or as with Dewey, 18 years, that was my child, my heart. It has been 10 years this December that I lost Dewey and I still cry. ( www.DeweyCat.com ) And I have a photo of Muffin where she was looking at me, to this day...tears... ( www.OrangeMuffin.com ).
I think animals have a pure love. They give us the best and bring out our best. If only humans could love as animals do. What a wonderful world...
Vince Gill said it best. This was playing when I came home to an empty house after losing Dewey.
Rain rain come on down
You're so welcome at my door
Come on down and ease the pain
I never hurt this bad before
Tears keep falling from my eyes
And all I do is walk the floor
It's not too hard to realize
There's not much love here anymore
Rain rain come blowin' in
Come wash these tears away again
Leavin's cut me to the core
There's not much love here anymore
Rain rain come blowin' in
Come wash these tears away again
Leavin's cut me to the core
There's not much love here anymore
Rain rain come blowin' in
Come wash these tears away my friend
Leavin's cut me to the core
There's not much love here anymore
OH MY GOSH! I've not heard that song before and I do like Vince Gill. Guess I'll go looking for the cd.(I've read about your Dewey & Orange Muffin.)Of course, u know, we now have Jazz to love.I'll have to send a picture for you to put on the page. She started out to be named Jasmine, but her personality is more like a JAZZ, so that she is!
do send a photo Shril. I'd love to have Jazz on the sharing page. I think Miss Kitty sent her your way, knowing the love you have to give.
They are better than human Shirley, that is what makes You get attached to them, never let them go. Kati
A pet has a total, unending love for us. No matter where we live, no matter what we do for a living, no matter if we are rich or poor, a pet will always love us. If we lived under a bridge or in a mansion, a pet will give us unending love.
When you look in their eyes, they return that look as if you were a god. Imagine having total, unquestionable love? I can imagine because I too have lost a precious little dog. I lost her three years ago and I think of her daily and still get tears, wishing I still had her with me. They truly are like little children to us.
Shirley, Sally, your stories are heartfelt. Thanks for sharing, a pet owner who truly loves their pet, can certainly feel the pain for a very long time.
And if anyone could sing a song like that, it would have to be Vince Gill, I've always liked him, he has quite a voice.
To all of the animal lovers....i am with you all on all your sentiments. My babies are Peekie, Sam and Ollie. Two poodles and a bassett hound mix. Love them to pieces. They meet a need for that unconditional love....and yes i so agree about how they look at you...and how they need us...what a great gift from God. I think about King David in the Bible...he was a shepherd who really loved his sheep...he would go out to his sheep and play his harp and be with them all day...he never cared about becoming a King...and maybe that is why God choose him to be King. Sally, I will always love Dewey Tales...so tender! Have a nice evening everyone...and give all your furry friends a kiss from Lorraine!
Hi again, I didn't mention my dogs name, her name was Hoochie. I named her after the movie Turner & Hooch...she looked exactly like that puppy at the end of the show, the one in the closet. She was part Dachsund and part something, we don't know, maybe Beagle, or Pug. Originally we had 5 dogs, I only have 3 left, Fluffy, Cookie and Sparkle, all orphans. They are my babies too, but Hoochie was a very special little dog. My fifth dog was a Shepherd, her name was Dixie, Iloved her so much.
Hi Marlene: So sorry about Hoochie & Dixie. Those whatchamacallit doggies are some of the best. All of my pets have been strays I've taken in. And IMHO they were worth as much as any pedigree.
I agree Sally, 4 of my five dogs were strays or unwanted, and they have been the best dogs any could ask for.
My sister-in-law used to have a cute little poodle named Pepe. Pepe didn't like being left alone, so he got the bad habit of jumping up onto the kitchen table and urinating in the sugar bowl.Took some strong coaching to break that habit! I told my sister-in-law she should change his name pronunciation from Pepe to Pee Pee.
ADORABLE!
No Shirley, I was looking to go to Pittsburgh but I will be in Florida at the time of the Miami concert so I got tickets for that venue. I wish I could get to both but maybe I can talk my husband to getting to the Orlando concert too! It depends on our travel days. We hope to spend the winter in Florida and look for a permanent home, God willing. Love to all.
Ok, Jeanine Ann, wherever you go, I'm just happy you are going.I think the Floridians have really welcomed Andre with open arms.I wish also for you to find a home there if that is where you wish to live, for isn't it true? "home is where the heart is". If that is where your heart is, that's where you should be. Good luck.
Hi Shirley and everyone. Thanks so much for your kind comments. Even if I don't find a home in Florida, I will see Andre and that is worth the trip! You are right - "home is where the heart is" and my heart is there and also it seems like Maastricht has become the center of the universe too. (grin) I am trying to learn all about it and even trying to learn the language. Funny how these things happen, right?? It is a beautiful place. Andre is so lucky to live there and they love him there as they do all over the world.
I don't want to sound dumb but where do we vote for Andre. I must have missed something. Cannot do that!! Take care.
Hope I remember this right, but here's the address you need to vote:http/www.persoonvanhetjaar.nl
go to this web site, scroll down to Andre's name, click on stem(vote),that will take you to the page where you write your e-mail address, click stem again. You have voted, but, then you will get a notice in your e-mail, you then click on the link,it will take you back to let you know that your vote is counted. You must do the third step or your vote won't count.
Oh by the way, the DVD's and picture books from Andre's site are starting to sloooowly get into my mailbox. Twenty days through the mail is a very long time when you are so anxious, but it does make my day!
Mine took 1 Month. It was the hardest to wait. Are We too spoiled or something? Kati
By Arthur Max, Associated Press
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — Most of us are taller than our parents, who probably are taller than their parents.
What an interesting article. Thank You for posting it!
The day has arrived! I got my DVD in PAL today, hurried watching it, what a materpiece! It was worth the waiting! Just cannot imagine the amount of work, needed to be put in this!? Really the BEST. I like all Andre,s DVDs, but this one have to be special, it does show. I love every moment of it, not just becausae there is a lots of hungarian music been played and , sang ,wonderfully orchestrated!, but generally it is with taste wonderful performance. . You all will like this the best yet! Kati
Great Kati! just goes to show that good things are worth waiting for.
Have noe idea when mine will arrive because I ordered the NTSC version. Maybe by Christmas?
Now, for the article that Chris sent, wow! If health and wealth makes you taller, I guess I'm out of luck!Especially the wealth part!
Never mind size Shirley, I am the same height as You are. There is a hungarian saying the pepper is small bot hot! All great things come in small packages! HUH. Kati
Since I have it , now I am watching it the second time. Your time will come! Kati
Hello all Andre Fans! Anybody, short and tall, younger and older, but going to this beautiful concert on Nov. 2nd, please let me know! Maybe we could meet and dance for Andre up front? Could this be a csardas? I know I will dance! You will recognize me ,because I will go upfront! Have to show how it is done! Kati
Please Kati, have someone take your picture.I want to see that!
Shirley, I think my Husband will not come with me, but a Friend of mine, I will ask Her for sure, I want to show off me dancing csardas a front of al lthe people, thay might not know csardas, but they will when they see me, dancing on the rythm. Kati
Kati: I think that would be wonderful. I love to see Andre smiling when people are dancing and enjoying the music. He does so like it when people appreciate the beautiful melodies played by he and his JSO.
I know when I am in the audience, I like seeing everyone clapping, singing, swaying and dancing to the music. Live concerts are a good time for everyone.
That means, people enjoy themself, forgot about everything else, nothing exsist but this beautiful music. I will have a video and pictures, lots of them, I will share will all the Fans. Kati
I saw in the Agenda of the official website www.andrerieu.com, that the NY DVD concert will be aired in 2 parts by the German ZDF In PAL.
Oct 26 2006 20:15 Part 1 NY on ZDF
Nov 16 2006 20:15 Part 2 NY on ZDF
It is not clear when the NY DVD in PAL or NTSC will be available.

Hi Sally and all the fans reading this guestbook. Just returned from our trip to the Baltic countries and Russia, we got the message that Erik Buch passed away. You know him, he owned the Straussmobile taxicab in Copenhagen, Denmark. He only played Andre Rieu music in his taxi. In 2004 Ruud and me planned a trip to Copenhagen and we contacted Anne and Erik. We became close friends. That is why we went to Copenhagen for his funeral and to support Anne and their son Michael. We just returned home from that sad mission. Do you want to write Anne? ob23@tele2adsl.dk .
Ineke.
Ineke,so kind of you to travel to Denmark to Support Eric's wife Anne and her son. I remember reading about the Strauss Mobile and thinking how wonderful. I spent some time in Copenhagen (a very long time ago) and could just visualize theStrauss Mobile..well actually there was a picture of it on this site i think...
i'm sad to hear of Eric's passing and will contact his wife. Thank you for your kindness and all your wonderful input. Hope you also had a nice trip to the Baltic countries. Lorraine
Ineke: Thank you for the post. I am very sad to hear of Anne's loss. (and Michael's) I will remember Erik's smile and pray for his beloved family.
It was very kind of you to go to Anne. You are a good friend and treasure.
Sally
Thank you Ineke for letting us know about Erik. I sent an e-mail to Anne.I'm sure that many of the Andre fans will remember Erik for his Strausmobile. What a pleasure it must have been to ride in that taxi, listening to Andre.
Yes, Shirley, Erik picked up a lot of clients from the airport of Copenhagen and he had a couple of Americans who recognised Andre's music!! Eriks son Michael drove the taxi for the last time to the graveyard, bringing all four of us (including Anne, Ruud and me) to the chapel for the ceremony! There were two pieces of Andre's music: Eriks favorite: "the red rose cafe" and Anne's favorite "Ballade" from the Gadfly. It was a very emotional moment to be in the Straussmobile for the last time.
Ineke.
Oh my!I feel so much sorrow for Anne and Micheal.I am so glad you were a friend to them and you shared this time with them.Do you not think that Emma will miss him terribly too? Please let the family know how much our hearts are with them.
If you want to read more about the way we met Anne and Erik in 2004 in Copenhagen, and about their visit to us, in 2006, in the Hague, please find us in the featured fans archive: first row, last item "Ineke in Den Haag", 4th row, 6th item: "Ineke etc" and 5th row, 4th item: Anne and Erik.
Love,
Ineke.
It is so hard to lose anybody, family, friends, not too much we can say, but the people have to know, that there are friends, who think of them in their sorrow, and they can count on You for company, conversation, and we feel the pain, just like they do. I am sure Andre,s music help to start the healing process! Kati
I have been reading your comments about the man in Copenhagen whom you all seem to know and remember. I share your sorrow and pray that his family will persevere and remember all the good things he has done.
I just finished reading a journal entry from my grandson, Jon, who is a medic in Iraq. He reported on the memorial service they just held for one of his buddies who was killed by an IED while on patrol. It just tore at my heart. Please everyone, add to your prayers a little remembrance for these young fellows who are protecting the Iraqies and us. If anyone is interested, he puts out a periodic journal entry on his dad's website. It is really an eye opener. The address is mjlacore.net. I'm sure you would find it interesting. I am a very proud grandma!!! Carol
Oh carol, I just went to your web site & I read some of Jon's comments.I'm so proud of him too and the many others who are serving over there.I thank god every day for those who literally put their lives on the line, not only for us, but a people who they are helping to fight for their chance at freedom too. They are all in our hearts and prayers as well as their families who must endure their absense. I have put the website in my 'favorites" so I can go back and read daily. Thank Jon for us please.
Shirley, would You be so kind, send me Carol,s address? I like to read Her son,s also, they are in my mind every day, hoping the day will come, when all will return in good health. Kati
Hi Kati,
Thanks for your interest and prayers for the soldiers in Iraq, especially for my grandson, Jon. I'm sure he would really appreciate some feedback on his journal entries. My email address is cjlacore@insightbb.com
Thanks so much, Carol
Hello Carol, thanks for the address, in the meantime Shirley gave me the address, it is very touching, and eye opener. Thanks again Kati
Thank you for checking out Jon's blog. I sent him a message to let him know that he has touched another life. I hope you find his blog journal a real insight into the happenings there in Iraq. Thanks again, Carol
Carol, I sent him a message to not only thank him but to let him know we are praying for him.
Hello, I just went to the site you mentioned Carol, mjlacore.net, and I read a few of the writings in the journal. They are all very heartfelt. There is hardly a day that goes by that I don't think of all those who are over there fighting in that war.
I live in a fairy-land world (in my mind) where all is beauty and peace and happiness, and in real life, I know that it's not that way at all. It's anything but a fairy-land.
I only wish that I could take all the hurts and pains away and make it all good for everyone. Like I say, I live in a fairy-land world where all is beauty. I only wish it could be in real life.
Marlene, I can relate to your "fairy-tale world". Only three years ago i would watch the news all day long and be ontop of every world issue...now, i choose to watch old movies, great music dvds...and listen to as much classical music and opera as i can..since 911, Afghanistan and Iraq....Fairytale worlds are a much better choice!Just thinking about our men and women over there is so hard to do...May they truly come home to us soon. Lorraine
I find that I am doing the same things you are doing. I have been watching old movies, listening to great music including classical and opera and listening to old time radio shows and the forties music(and was not even born till 1952) I get so emotional whenever I here negative stories on our men and women who are serving our country and most of the stories have been so twisted out of proportion that many cannot see the truth. I did decide over a year ago that I would pick out 4 veteran charities and the USO that I would support by a donation on a monthly basis. This way I feel I am doing something for our disabled, hospitalized and survivors of the war. They will include cards that you can write personal notes and they are distributed to the veterans and platoon personnel. I find writing to them is most rewarding. I want them to know how proud of them I am. God bless our men and women who put themselves in harms way so we will not have to fight the battle here at home. These are truly God's special children.
Hi Kathleen: Sounds like you and I are on the same page too. Each month I give to a charity that supports our troops in some way. When Robin Williams was in Iraq, I told people, "I sent him there. I paid for the entertainment". LOL What I had done was donated to USO, which I do about 3 times a year. The USO put Robin Williams on tour. Still, it felt good to know I had a small part.
I still have not uploaded a site to www.ApplePiePatriots.com but I hope anyone who finds the pages, will at least think of giving something, be it a Card or a Gift and/or Prayer...just give.
Really a touching story Sally, I will definitely look up the Apple Pie Patriots page! I can only imagine how lonely and homesick most of troops are. I know that some are very happy to be there, but for the most part, they truly do need "something from home", whether it be from a loved one or from a stranger who cares deeply.
Sally...that is a wonderful thing to do...i will visit the website and do something for Christmas also! Can you just imagine what a blessing for those over there to receive a package from home! Thanks for sharing a great opportunity! Lorraine
How touching and another way to show that we care. I bet you really felt good too. Thank you for the information. I would love to give gifts to men and women at Christmas whom I know would really appreciate them. I am so excited now. God bless you too for having a heart of gold.
I just thought about this.Does anyone know of any groups or charities that send birthday gifts or cards to our men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Kathleen, this is a wonderful thing to do. I know that whatever we do for our men and women who are fighting is very appreciated. God Bless You! Lorraine
We never can do enough for the people who try to protect us, never, never! Kati
I can relate to what you say Marlene.I always remember what someone once said, "Wouldn't it be great if someday they decided to have a war, AND NO ONE CAME".I guess all we can really do is ,as much as possible, live in peace with those around us.Sometime when you're on the web, just type in WAR & you will find it most interesting, the causes, the results, the different kinds of wars. Would be nice if we could all just live in peace and harmony. But...then I guess that's wishful thinking too, but at least it's something to strive for.
Hi Shirley...It is not just wishful thinking...it is truly going to be that way one day. At the risk of getting in trouble here (well garsh i'll take that risk and ask those who it might offend to forgive me...but you see i believe this like i believe the air i breath)...
the Bible says that Men will beat their swords into plowshears, and the lion will lie down with the lamb, and that there will be a place with no more tears, no more war, no more illness and no more sadnesss, that those who believe in the complete gift of salvation paid for by Christ Jesus will inhabit this place...in time...His time...this is the only Hope I have in the future...for me there is no hope in men that have failed and will continue to fail...but Peace will come by the Prince of Peace...Jesus Christ...I'm hoping that many many people will believe this that they may be part of this promised "New Heavens and New Earth"...Lorraine
Carol: You have every right to be proud. Jon is serving his county and helping his buddies. God Bless & keep him Safe. Thank you for sharing his journal. I will keep him and all our brave troops in my prayers.
I didn't know Erik personally of course, but I have seen the Straussmobile in pictures and have heard of Erik and his playing only Andre's music in the taxi. I thought it was a really great that he did that, and I immediately placed him in my mind as someone who was a good person and would be nice to know. No matter if we have met or not it seems that a loss is still very hard. For those who knew him personally, my heart goes out to all of you, you are in my thoughts. I will email Anne and express my thoughts to her.
I will always think of Erik smiling and driving his Straussmobile. May he be blessed with Peace.
Hi Everyone: Our website continues to grow. We now have 1,617 POSTS!!
We also have 55 Entries.
Isn't it wonderful how AndreRieuFans.com share with each other?
Hi Sally and everyone, it truly is wonderful how AndreRieuFans share with each other, from their stories of happy times and experiences of wonderful Andre concerts to their heartache of loss and all their touching moments that are shared with each and everyone of us. I really do believe that is why Andre fans are some of the most friendly and compassionate people...because we all share. It is like a big world-wide family...may it always be so!
Because it's like coming into a room to visit with friends!
Every day we open the door and see who came to visit, the computer door. It is wonderful, that we all come together most every day. Love reading the blog. Thanks Shirley, You told me to go to the blog! So I did, I am doing it any time I have the chance. Thanks Friends. Kati
For some reason, my comment did not get on the message board. I just want to say "Great" for those of you who are involved with the "Patriots" web, etc. I do want to let you know about my grandson, Jon, who is a medic in the Anbar Province in Iraq. He writes a blog on his dad's website about his experiences in Iraq. It is really an eye-opener and touches the depth of your heart. Please check him out and include your prayers for him and his buddies. The website is mjlacore.net.
His latest blog was about the memorial service held for one of his buddies who was killed by an IED. I am such a proud Grandma. By the way, one of the things the guys really like to receive from home is GRANOLA!!!! I'm sure there are a lot of other things they would like, but when I saw him at his brother's wedding in July this was the one thing he asked for!!!!! Thanks for your prayers and please check him out Carol
To everyone, I just received an email from my grandson, Jon, and he would like to thank all of you for the interest in his blogs and also a heart-felt thanks for all your prayers. He says that is what they need the most!!
Thanks to one and all, Carol
Hello Carol.
My name is Anne and it was my husband who were driving The Straussmobile Taxa in Copenhagen.
I have the outmost respect for the troops in Irak, and I know from my own experience that's so hard to have someone in a war area.
My own son Michael served in Bosnia in the former Yougoslavia when it was really tuff so I know your fear and thoughts.
With kind regards
Anne
Hello Anne,
How very kind of you to take the time to send a message to me, especially in this sad time for you. My deepest sympathy is extended to you. I wish that I had had the experience of meeting you and your husband in his Straussmobile. He must have touched a lot of lives with his fun and the music of Andre. It sometimes really amazes me how many lives are touched without even being aware of it.
My grandson also served a year in Bosnia a couple of years ago. He will surely be glad to have this tour of service over. At this time, he does not plan to re-enlist!! He does, however, plan to go on to school in the medical field. I pray that his goal will be reached. Thank you for your kind thoughts and God be with you in your time of sorrow, Carol
Hi Anne, I also wanted to thank you for your kind comment about our troops in Iraq. This is very heartwarming knowing that there are people like yourself who have compassion for our soldiers. I also wanted to tell you how much i enjoyed Denmark and especially Cophenhagen. I found the Danish people very warm...and loved everything about your country and especially Copenhagen. Lorraine
CAROL, your grandson's blog is awesome! i will visit it often. be sure he will be in my prayers and the prayers of my ladies group...we are all hoping that our troops will be able to come home soon...and that while they are there that the Lord will protect them...i love the quotes that your Jon puts up ...this one brought tears and joy to my heart....it is the truth:
Aim At Heaven
Aim at heaven, and you will get earth thrown in; aim at earth, and you will get neither.
— C.S. Lewis
It is obvious your grandson is a great man...serving his country and giving honor to his maker. You are very blessed to be his grandmother...and He is very blessed to have you! Thanks for sharing him and his life with us! Loraine
Love Around The World <~~click here
Marlene, I just read your review of Love around the World and wonder if it is still available. It is one of the few that I do not have. It sounds wonderful.
I bought the NTSC version from Ebay, in fact I bought two (at different times) because I was afraid that I would wear it out
I can only say that you have to keep checking, it doesn't come up very often, in fact, I haven't seen it in a long time.
I loved writing this review, it was everything I could ask for in entertainment, and Andre was absolutely incredible in it,
as if he could be anything except incredible!!
Marlene, thanks for the information on the DVD and CD. I am anxious to find it as you wrote such a beautiful review I feel like I am really missing something. I can't play the PAL but I will keep looking for the NTSB. I definitely will order the CD tho. Andre's music is on in my house all day long. I think I mentioned once before somewhere along the line, that I have a number of medical problems and I think his music has done more for me than all the medications!!!
Thanks again for the review and the info. Carol
Carol, there is a CD Love around the world for sale now on E-Bay. Kati
I went back to read it again too!! I think it's one of the best you've written Marlene. You put so much of your heart into it, just like Andre does with this music. This review is one of my very favorites.
Thank you Shirley. I'm happy that everyone has enjoyed the review.
I did put a lot of heart into it, because it did affect my heart in many ways. It's almost like it was a dream vacation for me, a dream vacation where Andre Rieu was the Star. I love all of Andre's dvd's, however, this one was very special for me. It was perfect!
Thanks Sally, happy my review started your day out great!
Hi Sally, I thanked you and was happy to start your day out great...but when I "submitted" I don't know why, but it went way down there...at the bottom...anyway, I thought I had better "thank you" up here
Ok...I'm quitting while I'm "ahead"...?? Am I ahead? I don't think so.
LOL Hi Marlene: Yes that makes sense. Same thing has happened to me before. I clicked.. on the Reply, but it didn't happen, it dropped to the bottom and sat there. Sometimes I think our computers are playing games on us.
Yhanks Marlene, I just orderedthe CD. Beautifully done. Kati
Kati, Where did you find the CD? I would love to order it also. It has so many beautiful songs on it.
Hello Carol, I just put Andre,s site on, and ordered it from the butique. Already on its way. Fast. Kati
These are called the Indian 10 Commandments, don't know if it's true, but this is not a bad idea to live by:
"Treat the Earth and all that dwell thereon with respect Remain close to the Great Spirit Show great respect for your fellow beings Work together for the benefit of all Mankind Give assistance and kindness wherever needed Do what you know to be right Look after the well-being of mind and body Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good Be truthful and honest at all times Take full responsibility for your actions"
Hi everyone. Shirley, it doesn't matter whether the "Indian 10 Commandments" are true or not...they are wonderful and if everyone followed those Commandments, then it would be a beautiful world. There is so much truth to those words!
dear carol lacore, I too will be looking for th "love around the World' andre's music is good for the soul It just lifts you up so that health problems are alittle easier to bear I'm 73 & believe me healthwise there always seems to be something coming along to slap you down, I've had bloodpoisoning & am still recuperatinf then I get another bladder infection & then a shot of salmonella!! Also the version you want is NTSC, with a B you would get the National transport safety board, who investigates plane crashes primarily but also any accident
Hope you find the cd or dvd soonest.
This being in pain is
for the birds!! I have arthritis, osteo
gout and rheumatoid. So far have lost one joint only My med for the rheumatoid is plaquenil, which is of all things a malaria medication, but it works. Took up knitting & crochet
when i got the osteo variety. I just refuse to gove in to the limitations &
I see no future is sitting in a corner feeling sorry for myself Garbage happens & you only have two choices, sit in the corner or get off your duff & keep busy. It's is how I was able to handle breast cancer which was caught very early & hadn't progressed to the lymph nodes so all I needed was l6 radiation treatments and 5 years of
tamoxifin. My 5 year anniversary was last Jan & so far so good. It was
devastating at the time but I count myself as very blessed. The new friends I have met thru the guestbook
are awesome. & it does widen one's world. The people all have a touch of joy about them & I think it comes from
the effect Andre's music has on us all. &
that to me is why we havetroops over there. We always have the madmen, & maybe one day there will be a better way to help all peoples to a better way of life. Enough of dire straits!!
Maybe one day we will have true peace
on our whole planet. Hope your illnesses are in check. At our ages we can't expect cures but can hope for a bit of ease. Love Marianne
Hi Marianne,
Another thing we have in common. My arthritis is also the osteo variety. And I also have had breast cancer. My 5 years of tamoxifen is up this coming December; glad to be rid of at least one of the daily routine of medications. You are right, illness should not put us in a corner to mope. I feel that a sense of humor is a real necessity. And I also have a hobby that has pulled me through a lot of down days. I am an oilpainter and also began about 10-11 years ago painting Christmas ornaments for my grandchildren which has grown to include children, relatives, friends and some for sale. Since my cataract surgery this past month, I am hoping to be able to see more clearly and am anxious to get started on my Christmas hobby. My very best to you and I hope you will continue to see the brighter side of life!! Love, Carol
Carol and Marianne, you two ladies are an inspiration to us all.Despite the health problems you both have you manage to stay positive and upbeat. My hat's off to you both!
I agree. Two wonderful women who are showing us how strength and good attitudes can lead the way.
Carol, Oil painting on ornaments sounds lovely. When your eyes clear up...and if you decide to start painting on the ornaments...and if you have them for sale...please let me know...would love, love, love to purchase one or more! Lorraine

Thanks Kati..... I like the #8, but couldn't think of the name, not sure I ever knew it.
I love # 8 also, it's a really wonderful song and every time I hear it I think of my mother who also was an oil-painter.
For Sarah, you mentioned you might like to get an Andre cd for your sister for Christmas & asked someone to recommend some.Which sister? I emntioned the Christmas Around The World, but really,I like the dvd of that one so much and it's only about four dollars more, and, it's something the whole family would enjoy. So, you might think about it. Christmas with Andre Rieu is hard to beat.
Hi Sarah, when you mentioned the Christmas cd, I immediately thought of Christmas Around the World. I bought both the CD and DVD last year. They didn't arrive until after Christmas, but were still so heavenly to listen to and watch. Both are great purchases and I plan to give a couple as gifts this year also. Enjoy! Carol
Christmas with Andre Rieu. I love that DVD. It has such a 'Homey' to it. The snuggly setting in the barn. The intimate atmosphere. I would have loved to be there with a cup of hot cocoa. Ahhhh the animals, the children. It is soooo good. I love that Andre talks about his childhood and Christmas past.
Christmas Around The World...too cute. The "Little Angels" from Nagasaki are so precious. I have the first Christmas DVD too. The Christmas I Love, filmed in 1997. I wish Andre would sell it, as he has so many new fans who have never seen it.
All of Andre's Christmas DVDs are wonderful.
These are my favorite also,l ove Christmas music, just around the corner again, I play mine all the time.I got mine late last time, Christmas was over, but it is always beautiful, feel so close would be nice to be in that brn!? Kati
Check out our NEWS page. I've updated it and added a little bit about Dmitri Shostakovich!
And don't for get to check online for Dmitri .. All sorts of things appear.
Google - Dmitri
Wikipedia - Dmitri
You haven't just added "a little bit",you've added a lot! I remember this guy from the cd At The Movies, the Second Waltz and Romance were his.I'm not sure I've heard his 5th symphony, if I have tell me where!
I checked these sites, what a great insite to russian musician,s life and struggle, lots of hystory we do not even know abot. I am not crazy about his music, never been, the little I knew from my earlier studies, always nice to remember others though, great musicians, with Him nameing russian Poets, Writes also. Just thinking what they did have to endure, to achive some success. Most success came after their Death. Kati
Kati, I didn't know much about Dmitri, but I did like his Romance, very beautiful, and the Second Waltz is what got Andre really going. There is a lot to read about this man & it will take me awhile!
Hi Shirley, I just ordered this CD, never had it. It is coming. Russian culture is so rich, one of those days We should pay a lots of attention to it!. Wonderful musicians, they are axcellent dancers also, famaous writers and poets, classical. I know I studied their language for 12 years, nothing like it.I still do not know enough. We always learn something. Kati
Hi Kati...here I am, rushing back, had to say as I read that Dmitri says that a Gustav Mahler influenced him, so i went to look at Mahler, u know what? Andre's brother, Jean-Philippe, sure resembles Mahler!maybe it's just that picture, but that's who I thought of. Hey,I gotta go now..... wasted enough time!
I know Mahler just a little, have nice music, looks all composers got influenced by someone! It is a good thing, we got more beautiful music out of it. I like to have some more music by composers who have tons of violin solos, they just out of this World. Sometimes those pieces appear as part of a very traditional concerts, when You cannot get up and dance and express yourself. Kati
Thanks Sally. I can't wait to read more about Shostakovich! Because of his "Second Waltz" I purchased some symphonies... They were a little too heavy for me at this point ...i will look forward to learning what may be a better choice for me...I didn't know much about (and still don't know much about his music). He sure delights us all with the Second Waltz!...wish there was a third, fourth and on and on of that kind of sound from him
Love Brahams' Waltz also...very sweet...
FOR KATALIN: You mentioned your love for violin...maybe you would also like Brahms Violin Concerto...it is a master- piece and just so amazing...also Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto is wonderful and I think anything Mendelssohn put his hand too was brilliant...(Kati, I'm sure you are already familiar with Brahams as he was viennese...one feisty guy as history portrays him...but lovely music.
also wonderful violin music you might already know about (very lively and brilliant) are the Four Seasons by Vivaldi...expecially played by Fabio Biondi (one of the most skilled violin players alive)...Anne Sophie Mutter from Germany is also amazing on the violin...ah the violin.....music for the heart and soul.....if anyone has violin favorites please share them...would like to know many more.Lorraine
I like all these, You put down Lorraine, but just sometimes, they are a little heavy, I really need to be in the mood. I love Vivaldi, but not always, I am very much a light classical listener, light operas, great. I new a lots of Andre,s music, my MOM new them all! Now, as I am getting older, I have more and more attention for Andre,s music. Lots of it coming from hungarian composers, and I was born there. The beautiful Circus Reintz is in my blood, no I am nor gypsy, just know the piece. Csardas anytime! It is a dream, one day I will dance it a front of Andre,s orchestra, having a good time, and be a little bashfol too. I hope I will make it. Many times I am just talk! Kati
Kati, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see you dance Czarda. I know from what you have written that you have such a passion for that dance.....it is in your blood...therefore, i am sure that you must dance a beautiful czarda. Maybe one day all of us can applaud you with many, many bravos!!!!!Lorraine
Lorraine, the cardas as the music is in my blood, I know how to dance it, but just the music moves me, cannot help it. Maybe one day? Kati
Lorraine, i know you know of Itzhak Perlman,Issac Stern,Niccolo Paganini, and there's the young man Joshua Bell. But i still maintain that Nobody plays Meditation as well as Andre.
Shirley, Paganinni ...so beautiful and Itzhak Perlman....ach....love him....Heifitz also...was a master....
I don't know of Joshua Bell...and will relisten to Meditation! thanks for sharing!
A question for Kati:
Do you by any chance know of a Hungarian dish...it is chicken that is roasted...but under the skin is a most delicious liver pate....i lived in a Hungarian neighborhood years ago and had this at a wonderful restaurant that no longer exits...i don't even remember the name they called that chicken dish but would love to make it...i thought of just trying it without a receipe but wondered if you know what it is called?
The most delicious thing! Lorraine
Siply stuffed chicken, and if You write me on my address katalin_kri@msn.com I will tell You how to make it. Yes I am cooking hungarian, my husband is austrian, half way me too, dishes are very similar, it does help. I have this dish tomorrow. Already scheduled. Kati
WOW...KATI...I will email you right now! I knew you would know it....take your time in giving it to me...as, after this post, i will be getting ready for house guests for a couple of days. I'll write you about my Hungarian intersts later, i.e. Biber, Architecture and that side of the Danube....love it! Saw a great doc on Hungary pre WWI and IT WAS WONDERFUL!Lorraine
Maybe You might like to try this dish for Yourself first, see how it will come out, how much You like it before You would serve it for guests. I usually make it with steamed rice, You can use the juice from the pan over and I make beet salad or tomatoe salad with it, any salad really. Let me know! Kati
Ok Shirley, please enlighten me as to which cd "Meditation" is on. I have quite a few loaded onto my computer and it's not on there, and I searced quite a few of my cd's and couldn't find it. My brain is having a forgetful moment here, and I cannot think of the tune, so if I could just find out which cd it's on, then I could listen to it, and refresh my over-worked brain that would love to go on a vacation to a nice relaxing place!
Marlene, it's on the VIENNA I LOVE cd.
happy listening...
Thanks very much Shirley! I will listen tonight!
I have a question not really concerning any of the above messages. I just finished listening to the cd "Songs from My Heart" and wonder if anyone knows who the soloist on the final song "Solo Tu." It is such a haunting melody and song and I have been wondering ever since I got the cd who it is. I know it doesn't seem to be any of the regulars. Anyone know???
Carol
soloist is Semino Rossi.....
I was wondering myself, so I looked it up. His name is Semino Rossi, born in Argentina, not very well known overthere, but very big name in Europe. Specially in Germany, He lives in Tirol, if You punch His name on Google, lots of info and His music, CDs awards etc. are on. First sounded like a Lady, but no. He does a lots of charity work for the sake of the third worldcountries. Kati
Thanks for the information. I will have to look him up. I also thought it was a woman. Glad to have the correction. I believe awhile back his picture was on the website. He has a unique voice. By the way, all the talk about Mario Lanza let me to check out Amazon and found 3CD collection which I have ordered and just received notice that it has been shipped. Anxious to get it--a lot of songs that I remember so well. Will let you know how well it has been re-engineered.
Carol
Kati, what did you think of Russell Watson?(I think he was on the New Years In Vienna dvd),but I have read a little about him, seems he has similar ideas as Andre, in that he "wants to give classical music back to the people", or at least bring it to them for the first time. Doesn't that sound like Andre?I'm going to order his album Amore Musica. i read also that his career was really boosted after he sang "nessun dorma"(from the opera Turandot.).That is a song I love to hear Pavarotti sing.Kati, would be interested on your thoughts on Russell.
I do remember Russel, I think Hi,s woice is much better than Volare. It is schooled, and real classical music quality. He is nice with the audience, I see Him more in operas than with Andre. I think He is a better potential there. It is nice of Andre to look up high qyality soloists , they might get great offers because the exposure, as soloists with Andre. High quality singers, give some chance to thrive with Him, some gets their name with Andre, Kati
Thank you kati, I agree. Now,(I ask as I'm smiling),what did you think of BOND girls? Did you see the young men's faces light up!!!!
Hello Shirley, yes I thought about BOND the same time. Music is very nice, these girls made the show very sexy, younger generation loved them. It was a little awkword for me to see Andre with them, played it well, I hope He is not the Rock Star! It does break monotony, refreshing, something new, I would not like this music oat every concert. I have known about them, seen them performing in Australia, different girls, some of them, same music. I am not againts a little modern world, we have to learn about it, I do not listen to Rock bands no more. Today I do not have enough knowledge of them. I stay with Andre,s music. This is a promise. Kati
SEMINO ROSSI! OK...WILL SHARE A SECRETsince i first heard Semino Rossi on Aus Meinem Hertzen I've been playing his music ALOT.....ALOT...ALOT..he is no less than wonderful...his voice in Castellano and in German...so beautiful and warm....so worth any investment...(his cd's i mean)...
FOR CAROLE:
so excited you ordered a Mario CD...i have a three album one which is nice...but if i may recommend two fantastic ones (i learned about them from the website GrandeTenori...the cd Mario! : AT His Best...is amazing...and also the one where he sings arias...
i don't know if you would like the Mario! at his best...it is mostly neapolitan songs...and the remastered 2006 disc is the most unbelievable sound i've ever heard... i grew up with the neopolitan language so maybe it is not for everyone ...but i read alot of amazon reviews and many people think it is great...so maybe a good one to try...i would love to connect with someone who is excited about this as i am....AND I HAVE REALLY ANDRE RIEU ...and my brother Carl to spark an interestest in the Opera...my uncle sang and studied at La Scala...but i was too little to "get it"! L...
oooooops...i need to apologize to EVERYONE for my terrible typing, spelling mistakes and grammar...i usually come here after trade shows and am so exhausted but miss my andre friends...so i check in...
i should wait til i'm more lucid!
I meant to thank Andre for sparking my interest in Opera...
and to recommend Mario! At His Best...to Carol...
and also the article about Mario on Grade Tenori.com page four has the recommended cds.
SHIRLEY...i MUST also re-listen to Watson....and wanted to know also if you have heard Byrn Terfel? Amazing.L..
Lorraine, no apology needed. I must say I did not notice any mistakes .. I've just been amazed at the wealth of information you share. I feel like a cultural baby awakening to a new world.
Sally, THANKS FOR YOUR KIND WORDS. I'M ALWAYS IN A RUSH...and just wait for the days where things will calm down again (January through March)....so i ask forgivness when I make typos...especially people's names...shame on me! Well anyway...like all of you on this wonderful blog...i NEED the music..life is so hard sometimes, the NEWS can be so bad sometimes....but music....wow it lifts the heart and sould and transports us into different worlds and different states of mind...like Andre said he could not live without music...i think none of us on this site would want to either!
I think this past year has been the most exciting musically for me. I have Andre to thank for much of that ...because of his music and the internet...i began exploring worlds of music that never would have crossed my life's path...things i never IMAGINED i would fall in love with ...those are the kinds of music, to my own surprise, i did fall in love with! The Baroque music of JS Bach, presented by Phillipe Herreweghe...OPENED AN ENTIRE NEW WORLD FOR ME...there was this one boxed cd of St. Matthews' Passion that came with a CD ROM ...THAT IS LITERALLY LIKE A MUSICAL EDUCATION IN A BOX...i can't begin to explain all that was on it...it was of course relating to the St. Matthews Passion...but it opened up an understanding of music that I never had before because Herreweghe, et al, teach you about this enormous masterpiece of a work, and in that teaching you learn about music in general...terms, ideas, dynamics, well it began an interest in the Baroque and early music for me...and i've discovered artists that are so good it is almost unbelievable...NO ONE PRETTY MUCH LIKES WHAT I LIKE...or at least so far I haven't found anyone excited about my favorites, Jordi Savall, Andreas Scholl....but then it led to more universal artists like Mario Lanza, Brahms, Mendelssohn (just the most delightful composer, I think, I have a tremendous respect for him, died young also, (38)....well now i know a little more about music...and I HAVE ANDRE RIEU....AND ALL OF YOU TO THANK FOR it! Thanks Sally, again for always being so kind to me...and always, always brightening my days!!!!!Lorraine
So, I Thank You!
SALLY, That is a beautiful graphic...i will print it and save it.
Your post says so much of what i too look for in the music. I really probably fall in love with the people even more than the sound they make!
You, Sally, have a tremendous gift of poetry and communication! Whatlovely expression comes from you ALWAYS...IT IS STATED...THAT OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART THE MOUTH SPEAKS...you therefore, must must must have the lovliest of hearts!
FOR SHIRLEY...thank you so much for your compliments....i doubt that i know more about music than you... I AM A COMPLETE NOVICE...but just love sharing my finds with people i love! Music is such a vast world...like civilization...it has evolved and has many different aspects...who can know it? There is a great movie i may recommend next week when i can write about it more clearly (tomorrow my company comes....cleaned for many hours and am literally exhausted...)my favorite movies and things rarely interest others ...so i will recommend them with that disclaimer ....
But i really need to say that i am just a beginner in this wonderful world of classical music...and for Kati...i have absolutely no formal education in music at all, my background is art, and art history...and i know very little in those areas also...the older i get the more i know i know so little...it is not the knowing that is important...but the loving of....the loving of the music ...the loving of the people who make it...the passion....that's important...shirl, didn't someone once say that " knowledge puffs up but love
edifies (or builds others up).
I will miss you all til Thursday!Lorraine
Your writing shows a lots of art, looks like we have to look up music, but when You do and put it in words it is a lovely art coming out of it. Kati
Lorraine, You do have such a great knowledge of music and composers, are You not faking this? Maybe You had some education in music history? We all can learn a lot from You! Just like Shirley, She should be a music teacher! Kati
Hi kati...haha...nope, i can tell you for sure Lorraine is not "faking it"1 She knows way more than I do about music.I just like what i hear but can't always tell you even the name of the piece! Not so with Lorraine! she can tell you how to find it and who does it and why you might like it!
If I'm not mistaken she has a brother who sang at la scala? She can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm here to tell, she's the musical expert. I would listen to her.
I do agree Shirley, She is a genius! I think we could go to Her any time with a musical question, She would come back with the right answer. If She would have more time, We always would get a lesson ot two in music from Her. Kati
Shirley...ijust wanted to thank you too also for always being so kind to me...and kind to everyone...you always build people up and look for the good things... a wonderful gift ...i think that is why everyone loves you to pieces!!
BTW, my mother's youngest brother Louis Girolamo, my uncle, studied and sang at La Scala, Milano, he was a gifted musician and singer...died way too young at 40 years old. A wonderful man. Gentle, intelligent and kind...he was my big brothers musical mentor...
Wished I was old enough then for him to be my mentor....he taught my brother about Benjamino Gigli, Giuseppe DiStefano, Caruso, but with the internet we can all learn about these things by just going to the websites...it is a gift! Did you guys know that the bbc even lets you tune in live stream to wonderful evensongs at various cathedrals, and NPR has live streaming for Sunday Baroque....one of the best programs i've ever heard...three straight hours of baroque music...varied and wonderful, from opera to jigs...that is where i really learn...well nite, nite Shirl, and all, L...
Lorraine, "typos"! who cares. I'm the typo queen.
No Shirley, I am the typo queen. Usually do not check it in time, let it go and then I see, the mistake. Comes with my accent! HAH>Kati
SHIRLEY,after hearing Terfel singing on an "advertisment extra" from a deutsche grammaphone dvd (deutsche grammaphone is one of the best recording studios....along with harmonia mundi)I had to order BRYN TERFEL'S "WE'LL KEEP A WELCOME"....it has five star reviews and many of his Welsch "home " songs...I also would like to get some of his music from "Cosi Fan Tutti"...i know you love mozart also and i think this will be beautiful music...
Getting ready for house guests, but as soon as i can i will let you know how these are... Lorraine
It did appear to me a little different also. Maybe because PAL system, we will see? I nevewr seen Universal before on His DVDs, maybe just because the europian production? They had to film it, with the winter scenes and ballet scences , there were so many things went on, the only way can be coordinated and put together is film it. I wonder ,if the NTSC will be better? I ordered that too. Kati
I think You can expect that because the PAL system. Kati
Terry, My copy of the DVD has Skips & Blurs at the start of it too. I watched the Televised Concert and it skipped as well.
I am not certain what the issue is, but both versions I've seen so far..(both were PAL) .. have a problem.
I, too ordered the NTSC DVD, so we shall see.
Mine does it too, I think because the PAL system, mine tutrned off after a short start, just started again, was OK, but there are at least two more little hickups, well We are allin the same basket!!. Kati
dear carol I too have had cataract removal Feb 2001 & Mch 2001. Had complete lens replacements & had to have laser treatment 18 months later as my system decided to hide the foreign objects. Only need inexpensive
reading glasses as I am a real bookworm
Couldn't look at people with my glasses on as they were all fuzzy. Take vitalux every day to prevent macular degeneration & so far so good
Making a chili sauce from a l941 recipe, which belonged to my late mom-in-law It's an old blue ribbon book verysmall & has a sugar cookie recipe which I will get my daughter to try for Xmas baking. Kathis, my daughter can grow anything Her garden is a=one so
I raid the garden for the fruits of the season. When we both lived in Kelown B.C we'd can l40 quarts of tomatoes, the same of dill pickles plus
cherries, peaches & pears. It was a very good way to save a bit of summer for the dreary winter months. You don't do the same here as the growing season is a bit shorter and the garden harvest is much smaller without the soft fruits which in Kelowna was both bountiful & tree ripened. Wenatchee in
Wash state is the lower end of the Okanagan valley which is a very bountiful part of B.C. It is all irrigation fuelled. The other thing is wine growing which has developed over the past 20 years. I made a lot of my own wine when I lived there. Everything from dandelion to saki. It was a very rewarding hobby. Hope all is wel with you. Love Marianne
Hi Marianne,
It is incredible how much alike we are. Wish we could get together for coffee or a concert. I enjoyed your bit about the canning, etc. you did in the past. I, too, used to cook up a storm in the canning department. I have 6 children and it was almost a requirement back then!!!
Guess I'll set the AC real low, put on a sweater and listen to the Christmas CDs and pretend it is winter!!!!! Stay well, Love, Carol
dear sally. Just wondered if you received the Maastricht article. Sometimes our mail delivery goes at a snail's pace. Am anticipating the schonbrunn concert which will be available Oct 9th, then it is two weeks before it arrives. Will see andre in calgary Oct 25th. Sure enjoyed last years concer Dec 8th. It was an Xmas presentation & he had lights in his shoes which I thought was a most whimsical touch. His sense of sheer fun just transfers to the whole audience. You don't see anyone falling asleep due to boredom. It is a most heart-warming experience Last year my fried & I drove home after the concert Arrived home at 1 a.m. but didn't go to bed until nearly 6.a.m. We were just pumped and ready for another concert. Love Marianne
OMG... I forgot.. I will head to the Valley tomorrow. I'm sure it's there.
Ya know.. sometimes, I am the most absent minded. When work is fast paced, I tend to just breeze home.
I can't wait to see it.. and upload it too.
"lights in his shoes"! I love that. The Christmas concerts must be so beautiful. And you are right when you talk about "pumped up" after a concert.all we want to do is gather and talk about everything.I saw the picture of the gentleman, presumably, asleep at the concert in Japan, but maybe he's like me. Sometimes I just close my eyes to enjoy the beauty of a particular piece.Anyway, hope to see a Christmas concert sometime.
Getting the Mail Today.. I'm certain I will have your article then.. I'll post it for everyone to read.
Hello Everyone: We have a new friend. Her name is Valerie & she lives in Ojai, Cal. Valerie would like to know the TIME of birth for Andre. If you know, please post here and I will send Valerie this link.
AndreRieuFans.com RULES!
All I know is OCTOBER 1st. I think we all knew that. Time? No idea. Kati
I just knew there had to be another reason why I love Andre....we were born under the same sign "Libra" which is known for people who are always trying to smooth things out!!!! He certainly does do that. Has brought so many people together in a loving way with his music. I knew his birth year was 1949, but never knew the date. Thanks for the information Kati.
Love to all, Carol
It will soon be Happy Birthday Andre (and Carol & Sally too!)
Oct. babies are special! And guess who else had a birthday today? On Andre's site you will hear his music, a man named Dmitri? Can you wish Happy Birthday to a dead guy?Well, I am, so..
Happy Birthday Dmitri!
I corrected it it is SEPT. 1st. Sorry for the mistake. Kati Happy Birthday to anyone in October!
The year is 1949, I do not forget , my younger brother was born the same year. It was a good year! Kati
Yes, that WAS a good year. my goodness, I was the same age as Sarah!
September 1st. I made a bo-bo. I know Oct. 1st is coming, but the Birthday is September. Sorry! Kati
dear sally I sent the maastricht article direct to the address which you
posted in the Sept guestbook. Sure hope it hasn't gone astray. The preparation takes the time for this canning. Took me all day to do what I used to do in a couple of hours. Will finish it off at my daughters' & we'll have enough for the whole family. If you want to turn it into a salsa all you do is add a shot or so to tobasco.
it comes from a 1941 cookbook so it's a bit of an antique just like me. Istilldrive as that takes no effort, just have to be alert!! we get gridlock
even here. The infrastructure just hasn't been able to keep up with the population increase. Hope it shows up pretty soon, the article I mean if not I'll just redo the whole thing again.
Sounds like you are a working gal, was
myself until last march & then i couldn't stand for 4 hours at a stretch
so I still do accounting at home as that I can do sitting!! Sound like carol lacore have a pretty parallel life. It's so nice to be able to share one's thought with another person, aseven though my family is all here. I have two grown children a boy & girl.
plus two grandsons here, one in Edmonton & one in Kelowna B.C, Didn't ever think I'd spend my late years on the bald prairies but here I am ^& because I'm very much an open person I make friends very easily. Both this guestbook & andre's guestbook have given me an opportunity to reach out to
strangers who become friends because of our mutual love of andre & his music
This holds true in joy & in sorrow as
this world is sometimes a pretty nasty place. but with peace in our hearts we can make a difference. Love to you
Marianne
Marianne, your kindness shows in all of your posts and emails.
Isn't is something how Andre's music has allowed so many nice people to reach out to one another? It is truly a blessing to find people of similar hopes and dreams. Little by Little we change the world for the better.
Welcome Valerie from Ojai. I live in Simi Valley. We are neighbors! We have been watching the fires up in your area. Praying they are out soon. Are you going to Andre's concert in Anaheim? Enjoy this site and all the great Andre fans and friends.
Hi
Nice to meet you. What is the date of his concert in Anaheim?
I have never seen him live.
I think the fires are better the wind did not kick up a they expected.
Thank you for your concern, and your welcome!!!
Valerie
~Chris T. in Boise
Hi everyone. Sally, I'm going to get a chance to read your news update soon. I still haven't had the time to finish reading this blog. I'm sure that I will enjoy it, as I enjoy all the information about the wonderful composers of this beautiful music!

Dear Lorraine, I surely agree with you about all the things that are shared on this site. I feel as though I have so many friends and hope some day to meet at least some of you. Just thought I would share this little tidbit about family. I have 6 children all grown and they live in so many different parts of the country; 1 in Minnesota, 2 in Florida, 1 in Texas and 2 still here in Kentucky. Every morning, we all get on the internet and email our thoughts and wishes for the day along with bits of information about their lives and goings-on in the families. It is such a joy to have that correspondence. Kind of like this blog. I feel that I have an extended family. Thanks and love to all of you, Carol
WOW...six children...and in contact each morning...how absolutely lovely! I miss having contact with my parents who are now passed on....but to have sixe children to speak to daily...you INDEED are blessed. I would also like to meet many of you...WHO KNOWS MAYBE WE WILL HAVE A BIG BIG CHAT AND CHOMP SOON! ....L

http://andrerieufans.com/Webmaster.htm
I have added many new photos at the bottom of the Webmaster Words page. My thanks to Joanne for her fine photography. What fun we all had, and Ruth, Jim, Bobbie, John & Joanne sure had a swell time on Lake Tahoe! Take a look.
beautiful pictures Joanne! And Ruth and Jim, it must be wonderful to live in paradise!
Marlene : I have your article! I will work on that tomorrow.
Kati : I have some of the Zither page made and will add your photos to it. How unique looking a zither is. Do you know how old yours is? Do you play it? Gosh so many questions!
Play it little, and it is 100 years old. I have it about 10 years, guess we have to add ten to it. I like it a lot. Kati
I just visited your website and saw the pictures of your visits to Lake Tahoe and Incline Village. Wow, I think I got the fever to go there once! John, you look lovely with that clog-slippers on and the Maastricht shirt of that other gentleman looks nice too. Ruth and Jim, what a great house you have!!
Love, Ineke.
Hi Sally,
I was very interested in reading about Shostakovich and Mariinski theater in St.
Love,
Ineke.
Andre Rieu is my favorite violinist, but that has made me curious about others too. Remember that andre mentioned a Yehudi (somebody) in his book? well, I happened to find an old 1947 movie, The Magic Bow, starring Stewart Granger, playing the part of Paganini, and guess who does the actual playing of the violin? None other than Yehudi Menhuin(?)! I borrowed it from a friend and I think it's worthwhile because of the music. You would swear that Stewart Granger is actually playing.I checked on amazon and they did have it listed so in case anyone would be interested! The one i watched was in black and white, but that didn't matter to me.There was another movie called the Red Violin, but it's kinda weird. I think Joshua Bell did the actual playing on that one.Anyway, when it gets right down to it,I always get back with Andre!
Shirley...thanks for the reminder! Yehudi Menuhin was a GRRREAAAATTTT violinist...a prodigy at seven (they compared him to Mozart)...and his sister Hephzibah was a prodygy on the piano also....KATI...Yahudi Menuin plays HUNGARIAN DANCE MUSIC!!!! You can find it on Amazon.com! I saw the Red Violin shirley...i remember it being a little weird also...something sinester about the luck the violin brought to its owners...i think they wanted to imitate the "Yellow Rolls Royce"...A great story about Menuhin was how he got his name...Yehudi means "the Jew"...a common Israeli name is Yehuda...coming from the Tribe of Judah ...or Yehuda...(btw, one of the pre-requisites of the Messiah ...which was fulfilled of course)...but YEHUDI...THAT IS NOT A COMMON NAME...the reason Menuhin's mom named her son that was because in England while they were apartment hunting a landlord specifically told her they do 'not rent to jews' ...HIS MOM IN DEFIANCE AND PRIDE OF HER HERITAGE...NAMED HER SON 'THE JEW'! lOVE, LOVE, LOVE THAT...we call it in New York - Hutzpah...having courage or "nerve"...hutzpah...can be a good thing espcially in the face of bigotry...Rosa Parks also had Hutzpah!
Because of you, I purchased some Menuhin dvds and cds today...thanks for reminding me of one of the greatest!!!
Lorraine, that's a very interesting tidbit on Yehudi. I didn't know all that. While we're speaking of Israel, remember once I asked if Andre had played Va,pensiero...well, I just found it on one cd, it may be on others, but on the opera medley, I think it's #4 piece, on the Gala concert cd. He plays it a little faster than in the opera, but it's still nice.I understand that now it is regularly given an encore when it's performed as it is an especially popular piece of music. It really is one of my favorites, of course, as you know, I like anything by Verdi. Think he was a genius.
Shirley, I am not surprised that Verdi is one of your favorite composers...He was perhaps the very best opera composer of all time! Verdi had a heart and i think that is why his opera touched the people of italy and the world. after having lost his two infant children...then his wife...he almost gave up when his second opera failed...but then came your favorite Nabucco (nebechadnezzar in italian)and it was the most sucessful italian opera of all times... va pensiero is the song of the hebrew slaves and it is modeled after psalm 137 (which is amazingly beautiful poetry....i found the translation of the chorus and will post it here...hoping i will not bore anyone...
Va, pensiero, sull'ale dorate;
Va, ti posa sui clivi, sui colli,
Ove olezzano tepide e molli
L'aure dolci del suolo natal! Fly, oh thoughts on gilded wings,
Descend on the hills and mountain passes
Where the warm, fragrant and gentle
Breezes of my homeland blow.
Del Giordano le rive saluta,
Di Sionne le torri atterate…
O mia patria sì bella è perduta!
O membranza sì cara e fatal! Greet the banks of the Jordan,
And alight on the towers of Zion.
Oh, my homeland, so beautiful, is lost!
O memory, so dear and fatal!
Arpa d'or dei fatidici vati,
Perchè muta dal salice pendi?
Le memorie nel petto raccendi,
Ci favella del tempo che fu! Golden harp of the prophetic bards,
Why hang you silently on the weeping willow?
Rekindle those memories that are dear to our hearts;
That speak to us of a time that was.
O simìle di Solima ai fati
Traggi un suono di crudo lamento,
O t'ispiri il Signore un concento
Che ne infonda al patire virtù. Draw from your strings the sound of deep lament
That is reminiscent of Soloman's fate.
May the Lord inspire you with a melody
That infuses us with strength in our suffering.
FOR KATI: I did not translate this chorus myself ... researched it ...everytthing is available on the net....
only i'm using my old dinosaur computer ...my laptop ccrashed...and i did buy another computer but canceled it...long story...now i must shop again...
with the newere versions (like you all must have...one can listen to anything via live stream)...
Shirley, if you have not already done so, check into verdi's life....he was a compasionate loving man that never lost touch with the plight of the common folk...and that is why he lives on...
like andre...he reaches the folks! L
thank you Lorraine, for the translation.Isn't that a most beautiful piece of music? Since I figured I'd never get a chance to actually go to an opera, I go to the library & check out all the dvds and cds I can. Years ago there used to be some on TV that I would catch, but it's hard to find anything of much quality on TV anymore!! (I do remember now that the pensiero was called the Hebrew Slave Song).
Another thought Shirley, if you can get any of the Kultur videos at your library (Kultur.com)....try the three greatest tenors a documentary about Caruso, Gigli and Jussi Bjoerling....i know you would love this film....Kultur offers great videous on many lovely subjects...just found one ...on Audrey Hepburns gardens...NOW WASN'T SHE ONE OF THE GREATEST DUTCHIES EVER! her dad was english but her mom was dutch...can you imagine a movie Wherein Andre plays his violin, mario lanza sings, and audry hepburn is the fairmaiden.....pursued by Lanza....ah...wish these people were still here....
loved audrey Hepburn! I didn't know she was a DUTCHIE! That would be a great movie!!!
Flash!!! Just received email from Andre's Boutique: NTSC version of André Rieu At Schönbrunn, Vienna just shipped.
If shipping is like in the past we should be expecting to see the DVDs in our mailboxes by mid October.
Moderator Lawrence
"conformation of shipment"! Isn't that music to our ears!!! I'll be in Vienna soon!
Hi all. While browsing, I noticed someone asking if anyone knew the name of the new saxaphone player.According to the pamphlet in with the Vienna Dvd, her name is Sanne Mestrom. Can anyone tell us, where the original player has gone. Also missing Jo. the pianist. At the moment we are watching the Berlin Concert,2000, I think. The last track "Bolera", is fantastic. Good health, Bev from Aussie.
Anyone planning to attend the 4/19 concert in Columbia SC? FYI, SCETV (PBS) owns all the floor tickets. $180 will get you two of them.
Hello Everyone! I'm slowly catching up on all the reading, or shall I say "writing" of the past few days. There has been a lot, and my time is extremely limited right now...will it ever change? Yes...I hope
I just wanted to say also, that I too got confirmation that the "Vienna" dvd was on it's way. I'm so excited, I can hardly wait to see it.
In my comment I said:
"I love anything to do with classical music now...thanks to Andre
I have quite a few Andre rieu's dvd's & cd's & the schonbrunn
should arrive in a couple of weeks before the live concert in Calgary on Oct 25th, Dont have a built-in cd player in my car but bought a portable which I can play while driving. & that's great as the radio has a few dead spots between Brooks, Calgary &
Medicine Hat. We have some strange names in Canada. Quite a few are english translations of lst nations
I've done some delving into the meanings & that is a lot of fun!! Carol LaCore & I have a lot of common interest etc, including our health
profiles. Keeping a positive
attitude really helps when things get out of sync. Love to all Marianne
MEDICINE HAT....I love it....what an authentic First Nation name!L....
SALLY, finally had a moment to view the latest Incline Village chat and chomp! WOWWOWWOW! What a great time you must have all had. The lovely hosts, the cakes ...SISSI CAKE WAS AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL! The Tyrolean Village and Vikingsholm look amazing also. Incline Village seems a most beautiful place to live! Ruth and Jim are very very blessed and so nice and kind of them to open their homes up to their andre friends! So glad that you all had a great time together and am so impressed just how wonderful it is to be part of this really great blog and website! L..
Hi Everyone, I am just reading the comments today. I've been getting up early (4am) and I am too tired to post much.
I have new articles to put up, I just have to wait until I'm awake.
Sally
Chris, How beautifully you described your experience today! THANK YOU for sharing your heart with us...and for glorifying the greatest Artist ever!I think He is very pleased when we notice HIS work and thank Him for it! So beautifully put, Chris! THANK YOU FOR LIFTING MY THOUGHTS....
Lorraine
Hello everyone. That's very beautiful Chris. I can imagine what that scene looks like, I've seen some really beautiful country and skies and each and everytime I see such beauty it touches me like you wouldn't believe. Thanks for sharing the beauty.
We all need those special moments of peace and contentment, and then when we have Andre playing his beautiful violin in the background, what more could we ask out of life?
Hello everyone. I know that tomorrow is Andre's birthday. Being that I cannot wish him a Happy Birthday personally
I'm glad some of you enjoyed the thoughts about the onset of fall. It was indeed a WOW moment. I've heard our colors are setting early this year because it's been so dry. I respect that this is a very diverse community, but I felt an urge to express the thrill of the moment from a very personal perspective and join others in exhalting the Artist of all artists!
I have always wanted to see the Changing of the Colors. One day I will share your WOW moment in person, and until then the stories, poems and photos will tide me.
Hello,
This fall is so beautiful! On the way to church, I feel like rejoicing. The colors are breath-taking! And the sun...oh, the sun is bright orange, and the sky is pink, purple, and pale orange. It is extremly hard to explain my thoughts and feelings!
Have a Wonderful fall!!!
Sarah
P.S. When I take a walk each afternoon, the wind blows my hair, and leaves fly in circles around me.....ohhh.
Hi Sarah and Happy October,
I was so touched when I read your message about the breathtaking colors of Autumn.
Love, Carol
