Well, I have to admit it now. I get lost in tnese "blog" and "guestbook" postings. I have not found the Akim page, but my introduction to him was via his first performance with Andre and the JSO. He was three at that time and I thought he was phenominal then! To see him recently in the New York clips was a wonderful surprise. Aren't those big beautiful brown eyes of his something? Filled with such excitement and admiration for Andre. They both just "beam" when they are on stage together. And, isn't "our" Andre a great mentor to Akim? Wouldn't it be neat to live long enough to read about Akim in 15 - 20 years? Have a great week everyone and I look forward to your posts about Akim.
I think that's a great idea! no particular ideas yet, but I'll bet everyone can come up with some good ones, just give us time!
Great idea Sally, I get to the write up now. I think Akin stole the Heart of everybody at 3, If He will keep it up, pratocong, studying, and make concerts with Andre, He will be very succesful.Harly can wait for maybe the New York DVDD to see Him again. Did He pperform on the Vienna one also? Myabe just in Maastricht ? Kati
What a great article about little Akim. Thank you Dora for the translation.Of course we first saw Akim on the Flying Dutchman dvd.Right away those huge brown eyes captured my attention!I love to look at Andre's expression as he interacts with him on stage. And what better "hero" could Akim have than Andre Rieu? It will be interesting to watch him develop over the years. and everyone, the story's on the homepage.
I was delighted to read the report about Akim. I, too, first saw him on the "Flying Dutchman" DVD. What a prodigy he is. And, his presonality just matches Andre's. They are so much fun to see together. I would love to see the New York one, but haven't had access to it as yet. It will be so great to watch him progress as he gets older. Hope he keeps that neat, innocent way of communicating.
I think little Akim is going to turn out to be a gifted violinist.I would like to Andre promote other cildren of equal talent playing other instruments besides the violin, but we all know the reason why? Equal strokes for different little folks.
Hi Sally: In deed that litle guy AKIM will go along ways and Andre is the best possible mentor around for a little child that is gifted with presence and talent.
Nice blog Sally, I think that your idea of putting up a "special guests" page is a nice idea.
When I first saw Akim in "The Flying Dutchman" I was amazed that this little boy of three, could get up there in front of all those people and play as good as he did, focused. It was quite an interesting thing to see.
I saw how proud Andre was of him and how Akim pleased everyone who was watching.
It takes quite a talent at his young age to be able to do this. I wonder why some children are so talented that they can get up in front of thousands of people and play the violin (or whatever instrument) and be so organized. It's almost as if it really is born in them.
I believe that Akim is a gifted little boy, and Andre knew this in his heart and is now helping Akim to become one of the "greats".
Andre is Akim's biggest hero...to know in your heart at that young age that your hero is a man who can play the violin so beautifully, and to be able to make the decision to "be like Andre", is indeed an incredible little boy. I look forward to someday seeing Akim become a world renowned violinist who has a hero and promoter as incredible as Andre Rieu.
Hello Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!
I think Akim has a wonderful talent. I wish the best in life.
love,
Sarah
P.S. Anybody know's how old he is?
Sarah, I believe that he is now 5 yrs old.
Question, I have a roommate who just moved here (Boston) from Berlin to study and I asked him about Akim, the 5 year old violinist from Berlin and he swears this kid can't possibly be from Berlin? How can I prove this, he says the website from the Orch. does not prove the kid is actually from Berlin.
Is it possile that he is American and went to Germany to study?
Hi Frances: I think you cannot possibly prove to anyone, what they refuse to believe. Akim is from Germany. No American child would need go to Europe to study violin, we have plenty of courses and teachers here. If your friend wanted to do a websearch on Akim he/she would find Akim is indeed from Germany.
To have fun and enjoy good music, you can watch The Flying Dutchman where Akim is but 3 and then watch Live in New York where we see 5 year old Akim in concert with Andre Rieu. Both concerts are good, and both times you will see little Akim who is from Germany
Oops!!!
It was supposed to be: I wish HIM the best in life. I have to correct my mistakes!
hahaha
Hi Shirley!
Thank you for the answer. Wow! I can't believe he's so young! How old was Andre when he started his own orchestra? Shirley, I'm sorry for all the questions. I hope it's not bothering you!
love,
Sarah
hi Sarah, you are never a "bother".As for when Andre first started his own orchestra, I think the first one was his Maastricht Salon Orchestra, founded in 1978, then around 1987 the Johann Strauss was founded. His first tour of Us and Canada was 1997. All this info is in his book, My Music, My Life, written by his wife, Marjorie.I think andre was about the same age as Akim(now) when he started his first violin lessons. And see how far he has come!! One thing Andre always says is "PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE".Same with you....if you want to be a great pianist, that would be very good advice. Then, maybe someday we will be seeing you in the Johann Strauss Orchestra!!!
Yes, the JSO or even a local Children's Symphony. Disney is a big supporter of Children's Symphony and holds try outs and concerts each year, Nation-wide. It's quite an honor to be selected.
Many local communities have Symphonies as well. It is good to join them and get practice (practice, practice).
And while I am on the soap box, It is good to support them as well.
While we are talking about violins, to those of you who might not know, our friend and Andre fan,Barb Wilson, has written a very good piece on the violin. You'll find it under JSO. I really enjoyed the page she wrote.
Yes, it is a well written piece.Barb wrote beautifully, all musical instruments are beautiful, takes a life time practice to master each and every one of them, and together make a fantastic music? I do hope Aki m will have the determination to practice and practice to master His instruments. He is amazing at His age already. Kati
Hi Shirley and Sally!
You have given me so much hope! I'll keep on practicing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
love,
Sarah
Commenting about Akim: Lets go to the Horses mouth which would be Andre Rieu period! Have this person from Berlin Whatch the concert "The Fyling Dutchman", that should settle the whole matter, and if the person doesn't believe Andre-where this tyke is from-Akim i.e., she wouldn't beleive Elvis either-if he was right in front of her! Kyle S.
Akim is so talented. I have never seen anything like it. He will go far. l wish him good luck.
I adore Andre he gets the audience so involved in his proformances its not just a straight concert its a little piece of magic i hope one day to see him and to get his Autograph And also little Akim's
I just want to thank and congratulate André Rieu for the wonderful person he is and say that we need more people like him in the world. About Akim, I have no words! He's just great and lovely and his eyes express the true feelings he has inside!
Greetings from Brazil!!
