*Do you have that place from your childhood where you keep happy memories?  For me, one of those rare special places is The Nut Tree.  I had birthday parties there, and so did my kids.  It is set to re-open in late September.

The great majority of the model aircraft Eddie created for the Nut Tree Restaurant and Airfield in Vacaville, California were acquired by the San Francisco Airport Museums in 1997. Mr. Chavez's relationship with the Nut Tree began in 1961 when Edwin I. Power, Jr., an owner of the Nut Tree, had his art director, Don Birrell, contact Mr. Chavez after seeing his model work at the Smithsonian. From 1961 to 1988, some twenty-seven Chavez models were commissioned by the Nut Tree, and for much of that period he modeled exclusively for Mr. Power. A few of the models were made with the assistance of Mr. Chavez's friend, Robert Fogg.

    Oops!
I'm sorry ladies. I just now read about the date and time of the Chat and Chomp. Well, I don't live too far from Vacaville, but I don't know if my mom will agree. You know why? Just because my grandma is coming from Germany next week! Oh well. Besides, what would I do there? I mean I'm going to be the only teenager there! And guess what?! I made my first cookies out of scratch today! I mean, I made them up all by myself. I just put a whole bunch of ingrediants, and mixed 'em up! Oh yeah! I'm so happy!!!
    sorry for taking your time!
    love,
    Sarah

    hi Shirley!
What color is Suzan's hair? Is it brown or blonde? Because in that "Tuscany" dvd it's blonde. Any clues?
    thanks,
    Sarah

Reliving our fond memories of the Nut Tree will take a while longer as they work through a few construction delays. We will have a Chat n Chomp at the Nut Tree, but need to wait a while longer.

    hi Sally!
Um, is there any way I could get directions? I'll ask my mom about going. Oh, and one more question: Are there going to be adults only?
    thank you

    Hello Dear Sally...
I say this with sadness. I'm afraid I won't make it to the Chat and Chomp this Saturday. 99% that I'm not going, and 1% that I might go. I'll try. I really want to go, because I want to see you, Sally!
    hope, hope, hope,
    Sarah
    P.S. Cross your fingers!
