hello Everyone!
I don't know, I might go. I asked my mom, and she said she'll watch my behavior. I hope I can go!
Sarah
(sigh) Sure wish I WAS going! To all of you who are, this is a great deal. The company alone is well worth it, then you have the wonderful concert too!
I am with You Shirley, staying home that is. Wish we could all get together, meet finally and have a great time? One day, We will!! I am sure, You will be there Shirley? Just think of us, the rest of the group, and yes, do not forget the pictures! I am waiting mine on Nov. 2nd, everybody I know will get a picture from this concert, looking forward to it. Kati
Sally, I will not die until this will happen. I am sure of that, positive. I love the way You put it, BESTEST. So much for my english grammar ?? I will get together with Shirley and Her husband, and We will be there, anyplace!! Kati
Kati, if only I'd known that Andre would not be returning to Dallas or KC next year I might have tried to arrange for Denver!or one of the Christmas concerts. But, since airplanes and I don't get along so well it kinda limits me.BUT... I have a feeling that we all WILL get together somewhere sometime, although I'm not sure the world is ready for that yet, wouldn't it be a blast?
By the way, MR BILL...did you ever buy your wooden shoes? I have not but I plan to.
Shiley, know it from my Stepson, they are always driving, about 12 hour drive, to come here. I do not think it is too late yet? I just got my tickets today, I do not have 3, just 2, so I would noot have one for Your husband. Think about it! Kati
I never bought wooden shoes, but a co-worker gave me a pair of miniature wooden shoes made in Holland. she is Dutch. You should have seen the grin on her face when she presented them to me after her trip to Holland in August.
Sally, who are these people on the good picture? I think we should know thwm by now! Kati
Isn't that photo cute? That is Joanne Larson in the red suit & hat. At the concert, she was on the JumboTron Sceens! Next is Ruth Morgan. We had fun waiving the custom Andre Rieu scarf she made, and Pierre took our photos and put it on andrerieu.com. The couple is Jan & Steve Schmedinghoff. Seated near me was another Ruth, Jan's mother and I was taking the photo.
This was at an applebees, and it seemed that most of the people there were going to the concert. People stopped by to ask about our Button's (which Ruth made) or they heard us talking about the concert and would say "See You There". The entire evening was fun. The music was wonderful. The following night, I heard it all again as I attended the Andre Rieu concert at the HP Pavillion in San Jose.
What a good time I had. I look forward to it again this year in Sacramento.
Just got my tickets for Nov. 2nd, I am sure it is a blast, when more Fan coming together, meeting, enjoy a nice evening, and the concert. I hope You all will have a great time! Kati
Wish I was going too. I would love to go...but cannot.
At least I have my concerts coming up this weekend!!!!!!!
Braces off my wrists, Packing my suitcase...I will see you in Portland!
It is so important for You Sally, to get better with Your wrist, we just cannot miss a day without our website! Take it easy now, that You are healed a little, it does not take too much and will come back. Did You just have surgery also? Enjoy the great weekend, be safe!! Kati
So, being that I have never actually met any of you, who are the four people in the photo??
Joanne Larson in the Red Hat
Ruth Morgan
Jan & Steve Schmedinghoff
I was there as was Ruth, Jan's mother. The entire place was filled with Andre Rieu Fans having a light meal prior to the concert. It was SOOOOOOOOOOO much fun !!
Just got my answer right here! Thanks! Kati
I wanna go soooooooooo BAD! Enjoy yourselves and promise to send me pics and news about the wonderful Christmas concert! HUGS to EVERYONE!!!!!
...Also SAD that Andre is not coming to Texas in 07! Anyone planning a concert where we will all meet in 07???
HI CHARLENE! Good to see your post. I had sent you a couple of e-mails since the Dallas concert but no reply. Bet they went to your "Spam" folder. Gee whiz! Andre is NOT coming to Dallas in 2007 either? For sure, for sure? Guess all of us are going to have to plan on meeting somewhere. Here it is almost 3 o'clock in the morning and I am still catching up on reading about Seattle and Portland concerts. How sweet of Andre to pass Tuen's chair down to the white haired lady. Did anyone find out her name or where she is from? She just went up to the stage and stood? sniff, sniff, I want to go SOMEPLACE. . Sally, thanks for the hug ()! You keep getting better, ya hear?
SALLY, YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS REALLY KNOW HOW TO HAVE A GOOD TIME!!! THE APPLEBEE EVENT SOUNDED WONDERFUL...A LIGHT DINNER BEFORE AN ANDRE CONCERT IS DEFINITELY THE WAY TO GO...BEING ALL TOGETHER LIKE THAT HAS TO BE A COMPLETE BLAST...AND EVEN THE SAME HOTEL...WHAT FUN...A GIGANTIC CHAT & CHOMP COMBINED WITH A KIND OF SLEEPOVER...HOW FUN! JUST FOUND THIS PAGE...SO SILLY AM I...AND NOW I REALIZE JUST HOW MUCH FUN I'LL BE MISSIN! ENJOY.....HEY...DO GET A FEW "STARS IN YOUR EYES"...but not so many that you can't drive!
Hello Everyone!
Mmmmmmmmm....you are making me very hungry. My mouth is watering for some Applebee's. Haven't been there in a while!
haha!
Sarah
I want to go! I've had two, but two just isn't enough. When you are on that high that only Andre Rieu can give, then you just want to keep on going to the concerts. Lottery...where are you??

I'd like to know which new members in the Schonbruun DVD are on the concert tour?
Is Agnes still center stage, 2nd row?
Does the orchestra arrive in Andre busses or privately chartered busses?
Hopefully you will be able to put some names with the NEW faces.
Dear Sally: Just a few more days and Andre will be in Sacramento. On Monday 12/4&5 in Anaheim. I will be attending his concert both nights. I hope that I will get a chance to meet him. I have been working and volunteering at KVCR TV studios, PBS in San Bernadino for the past 4 and 1/2 months. The people here are fun to work with and are like one big close knit family. Since I started I have been working on Andre's concert packets and writing press releases for future events. I can hardly wait to see him in person, live in concert for the first time. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, I sure did. It is hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner again. It is late and I have to go to bed because tomorrow is another busy day and we will be busy all week.
Take care and God Bless. Talk to you again real soon. Joan
All these replies & the concert isn't even until tomorrow/ 1 Dec 2006
And We Will All Have A Great Time!!
Your concert is coming soon too!
Hello Dear Fans!

musically,
Sarah
Have a blast my beautiful Sally, regards to all the other fans who will be there, greetings to Ruth and Jim...i know you will enjoy everything!!!!
Have a wonderful time everyone!!!!!!
I WILL be thinking of you all. I wish I was going!
Enjoy that conga line everyone!!!
HAVE FUN!!
Just checking to see if there are any reports yet
I know it's early, and you are probably not up yet after your concert last night, but I'm anxious...can you see "anxious" here?? Ok, I'll wait.
Me too!!!! Been thinking about all of you all night! I am sure you had a marvelous time. Let us know!!! Hugs
"THEY" know we're camped outside the door, waiting to hear! "THEIR" doing this on purpose ya know... just to tease us!!!!
Hello Shirley, that is what I am doing, waiting. Anybody home? Anybody cares about us, poor souls, the ones could not be there? We really would like You all sing something for us about last night. We just cannot wait any longer!! Kati
Hey Mr Bill..... see my misspelled word?(above)
Oh gee, I'm practically dying here!!! My stomach is tied up in knots and I can't get any work done. (haha) Don't know what will actually happen to me when I go to a concert. Hope I survive!! Ok will wait. Hugs
You better survive, otherwise You will miss a great report, pictures about last night. It will come out any minute!! I hope, they are already awake in the west coast. Kati
Any minute??? Ok...I'll wait a little longer. I'm on the west coast, and I'm awake, course, I didn't have an Andre Rieu concert to attend last night...but...even so, I'd be awake by now!
Ok...it's time now! Coffee's on, sun is out, we are wide awake and waiting...anxiously waiting and waiting.
Gee, now the coffee is cold and the sun is down and we are not as wide awake as we were!! But we will wait patiently. (just kidding - know it takes time to get everything together)
Hugs
Yes, you are so right Jeanine, it does take time. I'm happy that we are all so patient! I had plenty to do today besides waiting by the computer for our story, maybe tomorrow I can get something done!
OK Shirley, Marlene, Katalin, & JeanineAnn.....here is a tranquilizer pill for each of you; her you go, take this water, wash the pill down....bill
And when no one is looking Bill pops the remaining 12 pills & washes them down, hoping no one noticed
ROFLOL!! ok, ok, back to the socks!!! Got work to do. By the way, hope you all remember...Mr Bill needs socks, wild and crazy socks.I'm gettin' mine together!
I am working on the same thing Shirley, I hope He still will like us, after all He will receive!!?? Kati
Bill, in order not to disappoint your faith in human nature, may i say to you
"her you go" too! wish i could highlight it in green...but i can't...
L
I haad to take mine earlier Bill, I hope You will be faster after Your concert?? We all so anxious!! Kidding! Kati
My reports are soo long winded, it takes me a week, sometimes to complete the report. remember I need to get my photos processed (I use film) to Sally, so she can put them into the report.
But I will put up a 1 paragraph summary the next day, with a
to be continued.........
Just a little write-up, is this too much to ask? Anyone out there with a little knowledge of the last night,s concert, please, speak up!Let us know!? Kati
I'm at work so I can't call Sally. Why don't one of you give her a ring....just to make sure she is still alive & kicking.
You don't suppose she was so enraptured by andre & the concert, that she fainted, do you?
We have no number, but if we call, take the time away from Her thoughts, and will take evenlonger. Kati
Maybe all of them fainted at the same time....can you imagine the commotion that would cause.
hmmmm, I wonder if a kiss from prince charming (Andre) would revive each one?
"A kiss from prince charming (Andre)?? Reviving each one?? Not a chance...talk about commotion!!! Or...fainting!
If Sally fainted I hope it was for a good reason!! Maybe she just ran away with the whole group. Thanks for the pill Bill - it helps. I will try to stay awake for a while and hopefully we will get something tonight. Hugs
Bill, I don't know about the girls but a kiss from Prince Charming would certainly revive me!! Well it is 10:00 on the east coast so if I want to get to church tomorrow morning I must retire soon. I am sure the report will come in right after I leave. I will keep the vigil for a while though.
I've put two photos up hoping to calm (and tease) everyone. Story coming your way tomorrow. After I awake from a long and dream filled slumber.
THANK YOU SALLY!! For the pictures...that will allow me to sleep tonight at least. Thanks for the tease and we will await your wake up from your slumber...bright and early with a nice report!
Is it just my imagination, or is Linda Custers (viola) missing?
It appears Agnes Walter (violin) is still in the center section, 2nd row; a high profile position
Who is in the choir?
Hi Sally!
Ohhh, the photos are too beautiful! I was sitting at church yesterday, thinking about how you (Sally), were enjoying the music. I could not concentrate at all. When I came home, my dad asked me who was the first one to say the sermon. I couldn't quite remember....I was too busy day-dreaming about the concert. Shame on me. My mom poked me once in a while. Hihi. I guess I'll try harder next time!!! Sally, and everyone who attended, I'm so glad you had a wonderful time!!! God bless you!
Love,
Sarah
Thank you Sally for the beautiful photos. So glad you had such a beautiful time. Will look forward to the report. Off to church now. Hugs
I come here with mixed feelings. Don't get me wrong, I do love reading & hearing about all the concerts, and especially the Christmas ones!I wanna go soooo bad!I know it was a great concert, aren't they all? Each one has it's own flavor. I like the bus pictures too. Reminds me, Sally, of the KC,2005 when we took our pictures in front of the busses.I'll be back later to read all the reports.
Thanks John & Bobbie.Oh gosh, love the "drinking song"! Isn't that the Traviata one? As for the 'snow", we got the real thing here! Snow and ice...we could get our front door or garage door open for two days! Froze shut!I would rather have been where you guys were for sure.
Thank you John and Bobbie for the concert review. We were so anxious to hear about it. I am so glad that you had such a great time. Hugs
Hello Dear Fans!
The pictures that Sally posted up are beautiful. I had to keep myself from crying.
Love,
Sarah
Yes, Sally does a Super Fantastic and very classy job with this web site. I am already way too excited for the next Portland concert for which we already have tickets. Helps to live here!! Hope to see many of you then if not before!
OOOH Sally - the photos and everything is just fantastic!! Thank you for such a wonderful tour of the concert. I know getting all this together was hard work and I appreciate it sooo much. Now I am more excited than ever. I just wish it was April, '07. I know I will be a nervous wreck until then!
I am just so glad you and the others had such a beautiful time Sally. You certainly deserve it. Thanks again. Love and hugs
♫♫♫♫
Sally= escort extraordinaire
Sally, thank you for the photos. They are beautiful. The scenery at the concert looks so amazing. I'm sure it was a most wonderful way to start December and the Christmas season...with such a concert. And the Rieu1 following RieuFan was the icing on the cake! Thankyou...will wait breathlessly to hear your report! L
Sally, wait a minute...i was commenting on the photos on this page...then i clicked on the main page...OH MY GOSH...i have no idea how you captured the EN TI RE stage in those photos...they are beyond amazing...clearly your seats were W O N D E R F U L... i had similar seats when i saw him in CT. Front and center Third row...it was amazing....but i did not take THOSE KINDS OF PHOTOS!!!! AND THIS SCENERY...it is so Christmas!!!! Thank you so much ...enjoyed them immensely...and so glad you lead the buses to the venue! L.
Thanks Sally for the beautiful photos, I was with You all the night of Dec. 1st. Kati
I went to the concert in Fresno last night (12/3). Great time. One question though, where did the soprano ladies go? I missed them.
Hi Brian, Nice to hear from you. The sopranos are gone from the show. They are pursuing other ventures although I am not sure what they are doing. Maybe someone else on the blog knows exactly where they are. They will be missed by all of us. Tell us about the concert when you have time. Thanks
Hello Everyone! Great Sacremento stories Sally and Marilyn, and great pictures too. I loved the one with the bus following you! I would have loved to see their reactions when they saw your license plate.
Maybe I'll meet you this time Marilyn, in Portland, I've got my tickets too...there will always be some wringing of hands until I get some kind of confirmation that they actually have my pledge. Sure wish they could do that differently. But, I'm sure all is good!
Ok...This is December, I have another 10 months to wait...and counting...
What will I do to keep my mind occupied until then...
Thanks Jeanine Ann,
I thought the show was very well done and highly entertaining. This isn't news though, all of Andre's shows are like that . Andre is a master showman, and his orchestra is exceedingly talented and likeable. I enjoyed every minute of it, even the moment when I had to ward the prancing kilted guy off of my missus during Blue Danube.
I did feel a bit sorry for my folks though. They paid top dollar for what they thought was a pre-concert "meet and greet" with the performers, and instead received only a PBS sales pitch. Live and learn I suppose.
Notwithstanding the above, I think the show didn't quite have the magic of last year's performance (I went to the Fresno show on 12/16/05 as well). Of course, I attended the "meet and greet" with Andre and some of his performers last year, and that could not have been topped (I talked with the Australian tenor at some length - he seemed to be a nice guy. Andre was also very classy). I also think the show misses the sopranos a bit. They provided excellent balance to the tenors.
Still looking forward to Andre's next trip to the West Coast.
HaHa. I can see Mr.Skirt err, Kilt now as he tries to Dance with your best girl!. He adds humor to the dance floor.
I too, miss those Meet & Greets. Gary Bennet the tenor you speak of, is indeed very nice. I hope you will come to one of our Bay Area Chat n Chomps. They are fun as we all chat for hours.
No photos of gospel singers. Are they not with this tour, hopefully.
Hi Sally,
I've thoroughly enjoyed e-v-e-r-y photo & e-v-e-r-y word of your concert going experience. You're going to be a tough act to follow. But I'm going to give it my best shot.
Now I know Agnes is still in the center, high profile position & the same new violinst is right beside her. I also spoted the 2 new choir members......guess it's up to me to put some names with the faces.
Linda Custers is missing! Hopefully she will be here in Phoenix!
Bill
Hi Terry, I did not expect the Gospel singers to be on the December tour but not sure about the Spring tour. Does anyone else know?? Take care
We are attending the 4/19 concert would prefer the gospel singers not perform. Their time would take away from the music we'd expect from Andre. If anyone has info, please let the rest of us know.
I think it best to wait and see what Andre has for us before making up our minds. I know there is a mass email sent out by one person who tells us how we will not enjoy the concert, telling us how terrible it is, but I was there. I heard. I saw. I enjoyed.
It is like movies where a critic says the movie is bad, yet when we see it..we think it grand.
This is no different. I think Joan W in Andre's guestbook says it best. She went to the concert in Fresno and NO ONE was wearing a red flower.
I don’t know if Andre is bringing the Harlem Gospel Choir with him on the next tour, but I think everyone should wait until they see a concert to make up their mind about it. Please don’t be swayed by those who are seeking to poison your mind with horrible tales from nameless (shameless) writers who may or may not exist, hoping to send you to a concert with the express intent to have a bad time.
Do we not go to a concert to have a good time? And is part of this good time seeing our favorite Maestro having a good time too? Must it always be ‘me me me’? Can we not for once, allow ourselves to see it is our Maestro in control of his business and not allow someone with a big ego and no connection to our #1 selling Classical Contemporary to cloud our better thoughts?
I was at the Radio City Music Hall concert and I can tell you, it was not all ‘gloom & doom’ as reported elsewhere. It was fun and happy. I could not get a good photo of Andre as he never stood still. He danced, he pranced, he marched and most of all he smiled. All while playing his wonderful music.
I refuse to allow anyone else to tell me I am not going to have a good time at Andre’s concerts. I can see someone else has a control issue agenda.
For me, I will go to Andre’s upcoming concerts with the same good thoughts and pureness of heart as always. I will be humble enough to accept that Andre Rieu is the one person in control of Andre Rieu. Andre Rieu is who I am going to see and I shall not tell Andre Rieu whom and what he can do in his concerts.
(I do respect everyone has a right to their own opinion and appreciate others allowing me mine.)
I will go, I will enjoy, I will dance, I will sing, I will sway, I will clap and I will gladly hear the music.
I do know what you mean about not wanting anything to take away our Andre time.
Once I went to a Vince Gill concert in Sacramento (at the Arco) and what should happen? Lights out. One of our famous Brown Outs. So the band could not play, there was no electricity.
But ya know what...? I was a good fan and thought Vinnie could just stand there, he need not even sing. LOL
Hi everyone. There has been so much talk concerning the possibility of the Harlem Gospel Singers playing a major partin Andre's upcoming U.S. tour. I just have a few comments about how I feel concerning this. But first, I just received the Gala Concert (Hamburg) from Andre's web site. I don't know if all of you hve this DVD but it is absolutely great. I have watched it about 6 times since receiving it last week. My husband just loves it too. It is full of Andre and the JSO playing their hearts out with so many great close-ups showing Andre's every expression (especially my favorite "My Heart Will Go On") as he plays all the old songs which are so familiar to us. His only guest is Otto who does a very funny skit with Andre and the JSO. This gave the program the little comedy that we love. I also have just about finished Marjorie's book and I know (from what I read) what Andre had to endure to become the fantastic, successful star he is today. He had a dream (as Sally so eloquently wrote) to not only play his music for himself but to SHARE this dream with US, his fans. What good is going through years of hard work and practice (with very little money) and forming his very own orchestra if he cannot bring his gift to the people. He did not do all this for himself - these concerts are his gift to all of us. I cannot possibly tell you how much joy and happiness Andre and his music and the JSO have brought to my life and I am sure to the lives of all his fans. I don't care what anyone says about Andre "not caring about his true fans". He does care what we think but we must remember that this is Andre's gift to give and he gives it in such a way that we are so grateful just to be able to share in this dream.
Would I sooner have a concert full to the brim and overflowing with just Andre and his JSO - you bet I would. Would I like to hear all the old favorites without the Gospel Choir (whose music I do not particularly care for although they do wonderful work and I admire them) and without a lot of comedy acts - yes, I would. I too miss the Sopranos but I look forward to the Tenors. Even the Schonbrunn concert with all its beauty and majesty was not the same as the old Andre concerts which I have come to love but it was a work of love and much effort and I love it in a different way. I love it as a gift which Andre is giving in such a way as only he can do.
I think sometimes we develop a little tunnel vision (I know I do) and believe if we cannot see Andre completely and undisturbed by any other act, we panic. This was my first thought as I watched Schonbrunn -why don't we see more of Andre? I had this same thought when I heard the Choir may accompany him on the U.S. tour. But then I thought - hey wait a minute, this is Andre's dream, it is his gift and I cannot and will not look at his gift and say - well I'll take it but I don't want to see it the way you are giving it.
TO BE CONTINUED....
If I must buy an expensive ticket and it means only 15 minutes of Andre playing with the JSO, it is still worth it. I feel sincerely that Andre knows what he is doing and he does what he thinks is best for all concerned and that includes us his fans. I love Andre and I love every one of the JSO and I look forward to receiving the next "gift" from him no matter what or who comes with it. If I know anything at all about my friends here at this site, I know most of you feel exactly the same way. That is what makes us TRUE fans.
Hugs from Jeanine
I LOVE the Gala DVD. It is one of my favorites. The ending with Manoe & Renate dueling in song, then joining to sing Heidi is the best. I could watch it every day!
Sally and Jeanine Anne...i think you guys put it very well! Bravo to you...EVERYONE needs a friend like you guys.L.
I really hate to hear about all the controversy over the HGC. Maybe they are NOT to everyone's liking, but hey...do you really think Andre will keep them forever? Doesn,t Andre always give us variety? so maybe once or twice there may be parts we don,t care for, but isn,t it unkind to say "if you don't do it my way I won't come"? Isn't that like throwing the baby out with the bathwater? I had not heard the gospel choir til I watched the NY video & i can tell you one thing for sure. I have never, ever seen Andre so happy & dancing with such glee, I thought to myself if I was there I would be clapping and dancing too! It was just a happy time.So I wouldn't worry too much about this choir. this too shall pass .
Andre Rieu, of course, has the right to do whatever he desires and we have the right not to attend, so it all works out.
However, our dream has been to attend a concert of his. Our expectation is have the concert be what somewhat like what we've seen in the videos (we have them all - our favorite was the concert he performed on the cruise ship)and his "news" photos on the web site, at least until lately.
Lastly, I've yet to find a copy of Marjorie's book. Any suggestions on how to locate one?
Hi Terry: I think you will enjoy going to the concert! If there is a song I don't like, and I don't care for them all....just tune that one out. I love not only the music, but watching the other fans. My goodness they can be entertaining.
Do not forget to check the big screens too. How the cameraman finds the funniest people in the crowd I will never know. Only I have no idea what he was thinking when I was on the screen in SacraTomato as the snow was all over me. Ruth & I were all laughs and there we were...on the Jumbo Trons. But you are correct, going or not is always an individual option and I respect that.
I love the "news" photos. I wish they still produced a year end CD. I loved those. I see the photos taken from them all over the place.
I didn't know he performed a concert on a Cruise Ship. Is there any way I could get a copy of the DVD, or is it a CD?

wow...andre feels that the Harlem Gospel Choir is like a "tsunami of joy"...garsh that doesn't sound too bad does it?L
To Terry; Acopy of marjories book about andre can be purchased on his site under the title boutique. Bravo for you Sally and Jeanine Ann, Andre Rieu concerts are what he has the joy of presenting to the public.anything he presents is far better than anything thats around these days by other so called artists.
Its me again, Shirley your pictures are wonderful and the stage looks so beautiful. Can anyone out there give me some information about any planned trips to Maastricht this next July.
http://www.ticketmaster.nl/html/artist.htmI?l=NL&artist=ANDRE%20RIEU%20OP%20HET%20VRIJTHOF
The concert is set for next July. I know a lady who bought an entire ROW of tickets.
Will you be going? Thinking of going?
just one more thought on the Harlem Gospel Choir. For years i have read in andre's guest book posts from americans telling andre they were praying for him, telling him God bless you, thanking God for his wholesome program. i'm sure that they took note of those comments and maybe even felt that in our nation and culture the Harlem Gospel Choir would be a real treat for us. europe seems to be much more secular than the states...so they just might have taken notice and felt that this addition would please us...even though it hasn't come here yet...possible?
Lorraine, that may be it. I know almost all of the European fans were raving about the HGC. And honestly, when I saw them, I enjoyed it. I felt that Andre was having such a good time, he put on a very religious show, with his church windows in the background, the girls covering their heads for I Will Follow HIM. It was a nice event.
Nothing lasts forever and I'm sure the choir will move forward as will Andre.
I know this. No Real Fan of Andre's would suggest walking out, booing or hissing. This crude activity belongs to crude people. To see such things as well as racist remarks, suggested at any time, and especially during the Christmas Season, show others for what they are.
Kerstin & Andre are well aware of two or three people's attempt to harm them, to harm Andre & his JSO's reputation, but moreover they are aware of the thousands upon thousands of well wishers and true fans who are thankful for the music we enjoy.
I personally assured Andre & Kerstin I would not stoop to insulting them. I will not speak on this further.
Lets everyone think good thoughts and wish happiness for all mankind.
In the words of Elvis: "Why Can't Everyday Be Like Christmas"?
Sally and Jeanine Ann, I must salute you on your words...and I THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart, for if we shall do anything that is good in our lives, it's to stand behind those we care for. To back them up no matter what their choices, providing it's for the good. I am truly willing to do whatever it takes to back up Andre and the JSO, for they have done more to bring happiness and beautiful music to millions of people, than anyone I've ever known. As long as Andre gives us his violin music along the way, and I know he will, then Andre Rieu, may you ALWAYS, do it YOUR WAY!
Please everyone, please drop the negative thoughts and expressions you have for the HGS, as Shirley said they probably won't be with the orchestra forever. We all need to keep focused on Andre and his beautiful music and what he does for life and humanity.
There is a theory, maybe more than a theory, that you can give life to a thing by continually thinking, worrying and freting about it. It works in the positive sense also. So, let's all be positive and happy and believe that all things work together for those who love God. And let's not build those negative thoughts and make mountains out of molehills. Let's let Andre be Andre and do as he's done so well all his life...make beautiful music for us! Andre deserves every ounce of positive and happy thoughts that we can give him.
Marlene, you are right! I heard about that theory also. I was watching Larry King one night and Stedman Oprahs Beau said something like that. I took very serious note of it. I'm sure it is a truth! Lorraine
Bill,
The DVD of the concert he taped on a cruise ship goes by the title of Walzertraum. It's in the PAL format, so you'll need an all region DVD player. (there are many hacks available free online for easily programming most existing players to all region) The concert is a very intimate affair with perhaps 100 guests and the JSO is crowded onto a very small stage (it's a small ship). the video quality is excellent (at least on a 50" plasma display), far better than the recent Vienna DVD. the audio is in German with no subtitles. it's in the 16:9 format with 5.1 digital dolby audio. the ISBN is: 4400652599 - I found it in Madrid last year and just located it at:

Hi everyone - Terry, about the PAL DVD. I found it on Andre's web site. They have the German and the French versions. Now my question is - does the TV have anything to do with which version you are playing on the DVD player? My player has a setting for PAL. I put it on that setting but without a PAL DVD in the player I just got a picture that was constantly moving in a vertical direction - probably because it had nothing to play. My husband thinks it must be a PAL TV but I don't think so. Do you or does anyone know? Thanks much
All of my players are multi-region. They all play PAL. I have never had to make any adjustment to my television to watch a PAL DVD. To me, they look the same as NTSC.
All of my DVD players on my computers, play PAL as well. Nothing adjusted on monitors either.
I do have some programs that will burn NTSC from a PAL DVD. Takes work!
I hope everyone is having a Peace filled day.
The DVD player needs to have a Component Output and the TV has to be a digital. Sorry for being confusing. If you don't have one of the HDTV screens and surround sound (even the cheapos are pretty good), get one even if you have to give up eating for awhile to get them. HD and Surround are that good. The recent DVD's (except Vienna) are absolutely magnificent productions that will put you right there at the performance. In the Tuscany DVD, if you aren't weeping when O Mio Caro is sung to Andre, then I'll refund your money.
Terry, that is absolutely a great song, sung with much passion by Carmen. I wish her luck with the acting bug, because she can command our emotions with her voice and acting. Thanks for reminding me to watch that again.
Terry, not only do i cry EVERY time i hear it...i cry everytime i see that beautiful man crying in the audience....love that dvd sooo much! Love the lady up in the window who gets into the music...love all those beautiful faces in the audience and loved Carmen...she is unbelievable...i cry when she sings Spiel mir das lied ...also!
Thanks guys for the info. Take care
Forgot to mention Sally, where did you get the programs to burn PAL to NTSC. My husband is pretty good at that type of thing. I am going to order the DVD just to have it and worry about playing it when it gets here (which is usually a month anyway). Terry, will look for a digital TV (now that is just digital or must it also be HD also. My sister has digital but not HD. I can give up eating for anything that is Andre related!! Thanks
Spend the few extra $ and get the HD. The DVD players (oh, and make sure it has the Progressive Scan feature - that will assure Component Output) Magic happens (something call Up Conversion) and the concert video will be so sharp that I never watch one without a supply of band-aids nearby.
I will have to save save save those pennies. I would love to have a wide screen HD television, but alas poor me.
THANKS FOR THE INFO ABOUT HD TV. I didn't know or realize such a TV would improve the clarity of my Andre DVD's. Now I may have to think about getting one + a Region Free DVD.
You guys are going to be costing me money, but may vastly improve my enjoyment of my Andre DVD's.
on the hd tv...last year we got an lcd tv (phillips) life has never been the same....i got one for my studio also (sony)...i like the sony better. even if it takes awhile to save for...the tvs are unbelievable...i work for long hours in my studio...very lonely, labor intensive work...these tv's have changed my drudgery into joy. recommend them to everyone...it is worth saving for,all you guys would enjoy them sooooo much because of your love of world culture and music...even the commercials seem beautiful!
hey guys...hmmm let me see what blog page am i on...well no matter....did you guys ever hear of a norwegian singer named sissel kirkeby? my best friend, lisette, who is swedish and lives in sweden (we talk once or week for hours...best therapy). this week she told me about sissel...i had a feeling she was the same woman that sang the opening ceremony for the Norwegian winter olympics...remember that? well she IS one and the same...ordered some cds of hers today and just wondered if anyone has heard her? for the guys: she is btw, gawjus!L
Lorraine, where did you order your cds? I'm not sure I've heard her sing but my daughter has. Said she was the featured soloist at the 2004 Lord Of The Rings Symphony, and that her voice reminded her somewhat of Enya, only better.
Shirley, yes i did order Sissel cds and one dvd from Amazon.com. It turns out she is the girl who sang the opening celebration for the Norwegian winter Olmpics. Amazon has tons of her cds. Just type in Sissel Kirkeby. L
Shirleyl, i received one of the Sissel cds. She does have a lovely and very pretty voice. And, i remember the voice on the Lord in the Rings...i really liked it...i also really liked her voice at the opening of the norwegian winter olympics...i think for me that is the genre i enjoy her in ...singing kind of fantasy songs...on this cd she sings some classics ...they are very pretty...but for me i feel her voice is too thin and she seems to lack depth of emotion. i do have others coming including a dvd ...i'll let you know. i was disappointed.L
I am writing in hopes that you may be able to help me, or know of someone that can help.
My elderly parents are huge fans of Andre Rieu. They had tickets for his concert and pre-concert party that was held at the Arco Arena on Friday, December 1st. While driving there from their home in Grass Valley, they became lost. My mother started getting anxious and became ill. Unfortunately, they had to head back home and missed the concert. My parents, who have attended a previous Andre Rieu concert, were devastated at missing this concert. Would it be possible to have an autographed picture of Andre Rieu sent to them. I know this won’t make up for the missed concert, but it may make them feel a little better. Any help would really be appreciated.
Thank you
Hi Robert,
May I suggest you simply copy & paste your message into an email to:
helpdesk@andrerieu.com
I'd like to suggest you include their names & ages in the email to the help desk.
Be sure to include an address, so that if & when Andre is able to autograph a photo, he'll know where to send it.
Please extend sincerest sympathy to your parents, for me. At least your parents weren't involved in a motor vehicle accident on the way to the concert.
Sincerely,
Moderator Bill
