I would love to see Andre make a dvd in Australia. It has been a dream of mine all my life to see Australia. To me, there is something wonderfully adventurous and exciting about the place. I probably wouldn't be good in the Outback, too desolate for me...but seeing Sydney or Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth...those places would be so interesting I'm sure.
I remember the song "Waltzing Matilda" from long ago, and I've always loved it. I'm sure there are more songs that are common with Australia, that I would enjoy as much.
I know it would probably be a huge task to get down there, but it's still nice to think about. If Andre and JSO do actually go there, then I would send my prayers and good thoughts for a safe, successful and exciting time.
The Sydney Opera House would be a wonderful backdrop for Andre and the JSO, so would the outback of Australia,under the stars, wow.In April we are having Andre concerts on ovation every week, what a feast. If he cannot manage to come over here then I'll just have to go to Holland to see him,in his own town.Even my 3 year old grand daughter loves him and his music.
Sandra, I've always thought that one of the most interesting buildings in the world. I too would love to see Andre perform there. That would be a wonderful time to visit your lovely country and the many fans in Australia!
I bet your granddaughter is too cute listening to Andre. She is showing good taste. I always look for the children in the crowds at concerts. They are so open to singing and dancing along with the music.
I agree that it would be wonderful to see Andre in Australia. The MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) would be a wonderful venue too. Perhaps Andre could arrive on one of our famous trams? And a sequence with Carla Maffioletti singing in the outback would be wonderful!
Ovation pay TV channel is giving us an Andre fest in April; each program repeated four times in a 24-hour period? Right now I am looking at the Flying Dutchman and the classic "gargle" sequence has just finished!
Would anyone know the lovely woman among the singers in the Flying Dutchman; second from the left wearing a blue outfit? I can't find any reference to on the web?

Thanks to Sally, I now realise the lovely lady is Kalki Schrijvers. I guess I am old enough to be her father but she can count me as being one of her biggest fans! A Google search on Kalki mostly refers to Andrew's CDs. Where can one find more information about Kalki?
My wife and I deliver "junk mail" (for the exercise more than getting rich!!!!) and it was a nice touch a few weeks ago to be delivering a JB Hi Fi item that had Andre Rieu DVDs on special - and prominently shown.

I am sure Andre is planning a tour to Australia! By now there are a lot of broadcasts on Australian TV. His schedule goes one and a half year ahead (he said that in the Dutch TV Roadsoap, to be seen at www.andrerieu-movies.com). So the Australian fans must have some patience. I am sure the end of 2008-2009 Australia will be on his agenda! I notice fans wishing Andre to come to Brasil and South Africa as well.... He cannot be everywhere at the same time! Besides, we want to keep him in Europe, and you want to see him in the States!

The Outback" not enough people to visit his concerts. The Entertainment Centre would also be a good place to have the concert. I have been following Andre since the millinium concert in 2000 and try to get my hands on anything he produces. I have introduced him to many Australians and one night at my house and we have another lot of fans. They all agree that we have nothing like him in Australia. Please keep up the good work Andre as you have become a part of our lives. I have lived in this country for 57 years but feel like a Hollander again when I watch your concerts. Thank you again

I would love Andre to come to Australia, I am sure he would be a great success here, I have nearly all his DVD,s, my favourite ine is the one from his home town. . My little granddaughter, who is 19months old,loves to watch him and is clapping along with the music.
Hello Inge, I love the Songs From My Heart/The Homecoming DVD too. I would also love to see Andre in Australia. There are so many venues he could appear at, and even as Sandra said, in the Outback...outside..oh everything would be grand!

dear friends. It seems we are becoming a truly international site for many people. I for one would hope that an Aussie trip is in the offing, & a great pleasure for all the fans down under The logistics for such a tour are mind shaking but if Andre & co can transform Toronto into Vienna, anything
is possible. Most likely will take at least a month to cover thw whole of Australia but size-wise, it's not much wider than the U.S & Canada from sea to sea, except that the outback puts towns & cities a far distance apart, &
of course 1200 miles East is New Zealand, & there are alot ofan there as well. Sure would like a dvd of that tour as it is one place I've always wanted to visit. Can do in my dreams

Yesterday marked our 3 years of giving André concerts at a Hostel, next month will be our 2 years of concerts at the Nursing Home within the same complex.
We visit friend now at the Nursing Home (he was previously in the Hostel)-it is a Hungarian Hostel/Nursing Home -my German video tapes are ideal as many residents understand German. The residents of the complex just love André and all of that which goes with his shows. For reward, at the nursing Home my wife Annette and myself just want to see a smile or a finger or hands moving with the music. To see heads rolling from side to side is a bonus. Foot tapping is also great.
People smile at us when we arrive and when we leave - they hold out their hands for us to hold. Believe me, all of these scenes are very touching for Annette & myself - spine tingling is the word.
We are given lunch after the Nursing Home show and then proceed to give a concert to the Hostel residents. Generally speaking they arrive around half an hour before the show - all dressed up as though they were going to a show - (which they are of course).At the end of the show last month, several ladies were dabbing their eyes with handkerchiefs - music brings back so many memories to them all.
Yesterday, they were smiling, laughing, singing, tears in eyes etc.
When the show ended there was a tremendous applause for the show - and we were then inundated with people wanting to tell us that they knew the songs and that it brought back many memories.Yesterday's concert was exciting for us because the residents just enjoyed the concert so much - hours afterwards Annette & myself were still talking about the reactions which we received. We give the concerts on the first Saturday of each month. Our programm is prepared for a running 12 months.
We have told the staff that even if only one person was present we would put on the show. This is certainly, for us a very rewarding thing to do. What better than to present and share André concerts with those who are craving for great music? Nobody presents music better than André and JSO. Fans of this site know this of course.
Mike , God bless You, for all the good deeds, You do for the elderly!! We read somany e-mails from Australia, I think, Andre does not need too much more introduction, anybody, who cares for His music, know about Him and the Orchestra already. I hope the dream comes through, for You! Kati
Mike I just know all the people you and Annette have touched must love you dearly, for all the giving you have done. 3 years of sharing, of playing Andre's DVDs must have helped hundreds of hundreds of people. I am so impressed.
How wonderful to have something to get dressed up for. I never thought of that. Too many times, every day seems the same. You've given them special days back. It must be thrilling.
Because you play Andre for the people, I thought to give my mother a DVD of Andre's for her nursing home. It is such a good way to meet other people. She told me she played in the fireside room of her nursing home. So you've even passed the idea to the US.
This is why I do love this site Sally, the wonderful people get together, from all over the World, sharingm thoughts, giving newer ideas, and show their soul to everyone, and make us think again, and become a better person! Kati
Right you are Kati. It is the whole world, and learning about all the cultures. If I had the money, I would travel travel travel. And as Andre says, if all the world made music, there would be no war.
To have a successful concert in Australia - André needs much more publicity.
Ovation alone will not guarantee success. TV coverage is needed on a National basis.
Small record stores are certainly stocking CDs & DVD, but not the major retailers. A year ago you would be lucky to see 1 André CD or DVD in any store. This has chnged significantly - but has a long way to go.
Last year I sent DVD Tuscany to a major broadcaster hoping to get reaction - nothing happened.
I wrote something over here, have no idea where it did go? I am writing again, Thank You for the beautiful things You do for the elderly! I am sure, their faces light up, have smiles, and maybe even moves, does not matter if they are in a wheelchair or not. Just feeling the music, and rhytm, enough to ease up the pain and suffering in their lives! I am sure, all the people writing and asking for Andre in Australia, know Him and the Orchestra, would not take too much anymore, to promote Him> I hope Your dream will come true! Kati
I agree to what Michael Connolly said. Andre needs far more publicity in Australia but his performances and the JSO are becoming more and more popular here. In the large retail stores in Melbourne there are still very few DVDs & CDs available so I buy them through eBay but also not a great selection, however I have bought every DVD available. I would sleep on the footpath to get tickets if he came here as he and the JSO take me to another world, a much happier and carefree one. His smile lights up the stage and his music is glorious. Surely Gary Bennett, one of the tenors, could try to talk him in to coming here. We have lovely venues for Andre and his Orchestra and I know they would all be a huge success. Maybe one day my dream will come true and he will come to Oz. I know it wouldn't be a disappointment.
Usually, the CDs and DVDs hit the stores much later, over here in the States also, no surprise there, that does not mean, that people do not know about Him and the Orchestra. Kati
Mike Connelly, I have great respect for you for what you are doing for the Nursing home. As a person who has worked in a nursing home, I can picture what it would be for those dear people to hear and see Andre's beautiful music and concerts. I would be in tears too, if I were in their position and knew that someone cared enough to bring some beauty into our lives.
It's great seeing so many people from all over the world listening and enjoying Andre Rieu and his JSO, and writing about it. If people did not write about their feelings and thoughts, then we would all just wonder. I love seeing what Andre's music does for everyone; it's so beautiful and energizing.
Hello Mike, what a wonderful thing you are doing for these dear people. I applaud you. Music does wonders for people of all ages and especially for those in nursing homes who look forward to a visit from even one person. Thank you for your great work - to both of you. The people in Australia, are from all over the World, just like in US, they do have the same values, same interest and taste in music, it would be just as great success, as in Germany, as in Canada, as in the US, as in Hungary if He ever gets there! That is my hope, one they, I will go visit my Family, and take them to Andre,s concert in Budapest, the capital city. I do know, my dream will come through! Kati

I have been a fan of Andre and the Johann Strauss Orchestra since I first watched the performance at the Royal Albert Hall as shown on the ABC channel in Australia. I have a collection of DVD's & CD's and every opportunity I get I tell people about his fabulous performance. I have also given DVD's and CD's away as presents and everyone loves the fabulous music. It would be fabulous to have Andre perform in AUSTRALIA with all his cast. The Opera House would be great for his first performance. I would be in the front row seat. I love the way his audiences get involved and dances in the isles.
Andre plays every note from his heart and soul. I see the love he has for the music he plays. More people throughout the world should see his performances.
AUSTRALIA is waiting and so am I.

I don't know whether I can afford to fly to Europe as I am in Melbourne, but am going to try my best to see Andre in person. Even though the DVD's are wonderful, but as Aussie is region 4-6 the selection is very limited, it would be great to be part of the terrific atmosphere of his concerts.
Andre and his Orchestra don't just perform concerts, they put on spectaculars, I have never seen anything better and the audience becomes part in their performances.

I am not interested in the DVD, I want to see the actual concert here in Australia. I have bought almost all of them that there are.
I don't care whether it is in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth, no matter where ever it is I will have to travel from Darwin, but it doesn't matter I just want a concert in Australia.
Andre and the orchestra put so much fun an life into the music as it was meant to be. I think to experience live would be fantastic.
I think I will have to dip into the saving for a trip to Europe to experience the concert live.
I am sure, they do eye on Australia, just like they do go Japan, few times. It is a very long way to go, but it will happend. Do not give up hope. Kati
Wayne, I believe very strongly that if enough people want Andre to perform in Australia, it will happen. We will not have to go to Europe. I will see at the Australian performance!

It would appear that by having some of André's programs on Ovation (pay TV or cable TV) a visit to Australia in future may be planned.It is my view that should André visit Australia, the venue would only be at one location.The huge costs in bringing everybody (JSO & crews) here would be
huge, air fares, accommodation, meals, & freight of instruments, hiring costs of venue, etc etc.
Foxtel etc only covers a small proportion of our population.
Saturation publicity on National TV would be required to fill seats at concerts - without this publicity concert halls would be half empty.
There is no doubt that people will have to travel from capital cities within Australia & New Zealand to the one location in order to fill all seats (I have no doubt that people will be prepared to do this). I do not think the concerts could be this year - therefor ongoing publicity may be scheduled by André, particularly a few months before the "visit".
Interest in André & JSO has picked up here, and word of mouth is powerful as many of us know, but it is simply not enough to fill concert seats.
André & JSO are superb, and unique - fans on this site know this.
I guess time will tell.
I "met" Andre in 2005 via a R.A.Hall concert on nat.TV.I managed to buy the DVD along with 7 others & 7CDs but it's been a slow process.My idea of heaven would be a store with shelves crammed with every DVD/CD he's made. I must agree with Mike he needs much more publicity here to show people what they are missing. I hate to agree really because my Husband & I are getting very old very quickly & I soooo want to see this gorgeous man & his wonderful orch. live if possible. ANYWHERE IN AUST.PLEASE ANDRE!
Roughly 3 years ago, André & JSO went to Manchester in England, and I understand the concert was poorly attended. I also recall the comments from UK were that there should have been more publicity. Some people did not know about the concert until after it was held. André has not been back there since - I would not like to see that happen here - it will, unless the publicity angle is worked on in a major way.
I am sure, theyn do have to find the right people, to promote Him, otherwise, the audience will miss out. Kati

I did have some Friends, from Perth, and also, from Sidney, actually one couple from Hungary, and I met them in Rome Italy, they were touring europe for about a month, was about 15 years ago. Hi everyone, (especially Mike Connelly) Christine Blacker here from Queensland Australia. I was introduced to Andre's music about two years ago, and through entries in Andre's guest book, made contact with Mike Connelly and his wife. It is a wonderful thing that he does for those people in the nursing home. Like a lot of other people I was never interested in Classical music. The very first time I saw one of Andre's DVD's all that changed. There are not words adequate enough to explain how his music makes me feel. It brings out feelings, emotions and memories, that I had forgotten I had. I recently left my marriage of 35years. It was one of the most stressful times of my life. One of the things that helped me get through it was this incredible music. It can just pick you up, when you think you are at your lowest and take your soul to whatever beautiful place you want to be, and leave you with a sense of peace and calm. My most special moments are when I sit on our beautiful Strand looking out to the ocean, listening to his music. My most favourite DVD is Dreaming and Adagio would have to be the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard. Andre's talent with the violin certainly comes out in this peice. The whole DVD is beautifully done and I have watched it so many times, I have lost count. I could go on and on, its hard to put into words what I really want to say, but it does come from my heart. Needles to say I would walk over hot coals,hitch hike, crawl, beg, borrow, steal or do whatever I had to to attend one of his conterts if he were to come to Australia. I agree with Mike when he says he would need more publicity to fill the seats at whatever venue he plays at, (and there are certainly some wonderful venues here in Australia). The logistics of just getting here would be enormous. I want to thank Sally for starting this Blog Page for us, and in general helping us to get Andre to come here. I will keep posting little messages in his guest book on the official website and perhaps if enough of us keep doing this, eventually he may look at coming here. Love to you all. Christine

Christine Blacker here from Townsville. You can buy Dreaming from Andre's official website in his Boutique. I have collected 12 of his DVD's this way. They are very hard to find here in Australia. How many do you have? There are others that I could recomomend you get if you havn't already got them. Everyone I have introduced to his music is now a fan, how could you not be!! Pauline from Melbourne here. Thanks for your help, I will try it although my DVD player will only take region 4-6 otherwise I could get heaps from eBay in the US. I have only 7 so far and 3 CD's. The ones I did get are from a Sydney eBay site and he has only 6-8 at the most, all of which I now have. I would love to get New Year's Eve in Vienna,the one in Dublin and the ones you have, although the Live from Dublin is on Ovation next Thursday evening so of course will not miss it. I have never seen any other person like Andre who just lights up a stage with his presence and his orchestra are so entertaining, not still life the usual symphony and philharmonic variety.

I was introduced to Andre by a friend on the internet.she is from victoria,She said had I heard of him I said no and it didnt thrill me much when she said she would send a dvd of him to me.....Well that was it.I was stunned I too wasnt a classical music fan BUT now I cannot get enough of this mans music. I certainly hope he does come to Brisbane,but no matter where in Aus I will get to see him......please take care

G'Day Lorraine, Christine from Townsville, Australia. I think I am being a little biased when I say I reckon Australia is one of the worlds most beautiful and friendly places. I'm sure if we can get Andre to perform here there will be a lot of people that come from overseas who have not been to Australia before. It has everything from snow capped mountains, deserts, ruggard bush, tropical rainforests and of course our beautiful beaches, parks, towns and cities. I live in Far North Queenland on the Eastern tropical coast. We are 1400 Kilometers from our Capital city, Brisbane. Townsville has a population of about 200,000. Our coast is part of the Great Barrier Reef, which runs almost the full length of out East coast. I could go on and on. But I know if you cam to visit, you would not be dissappointed. Perhaps you could tell me something about New York, where you live. I only know what I see and read about it. It looks like a very exciting city. Hope you don't mind me answering as well. I'm another Aussie from Melbourne which is about as far as you can get from Townsville. Melbourne is capital of Victoria which is south of New South Wales. It's a beautiful city, lots of parks, gardens, cafe's and a very cosmopolitan atmosphere. Victoria has beautiful scenery as well, lovely beaches, mountains, and wonderful concert centres. There is an onging feud between Melbourne and Sydney - has been since time began as they say they are the best and we say we are and Melbourne was voted the most livable city in the world a couple of years ago. I too, like Christine am biased. Would love to visit New York as people I know who have been there rave about it. Have been to the west coast only and that was some years ago.

One of my favorite musicians Yehudi Menuhin's sister was considered to be one of the best pianists in Australia at one time. She married an "Aussie" and lived there for many years. At one time, I was trying to obtain a rare movie entitled "Hepshibah"(Hepshibah Menuhin) and was in contact with several people from your wonderful country. I must say, each person was absolutely wonderful! What makes you guys so bright and cheery?!
Both places sound absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite movies, "Strictly Ballroom" is an Australian film.
Christine, you ask me about New York. What can I say. New York is so rich in so many things: theatre, street art and music, opera, musuems, shopping, fairs and festivals, restaurants. But what I can tell you is that New Yorkers are very warm. At first they seem cold (especially during rush hour)...but as you get to know them...they are really very personable. I lived in New York City proper for ten years, was born in Brooklyn, lived in Seattle, Washington for 6 years and now live in Long Island which is just East of New York City. My home is Seventy miles from NYC about an hour and 10 minute drive. I visit the city regularly and love it.
Long Island has alot to offer. We are now well known for vineyards in the east end of the island. Long Island wines are becoming more and more prominent. We have some beautiful beaches also, lovely walking/biking trails, wonderful museums, restaurants and a lovely east end comprising two different personalities. The North Shore is comprized of vineyards, flowerfields and nurseries, historic homes and small "bay" beaches. The south shore is the home of Westhampton, Easthampton, Southampton and Bridgehampton beach. All very "posh" and celebrity ridden: the home of Steven Spielberg, Christie Brinkly, Billy Joel and on an on. Long island has many small islands off its coast which are lovely to visit.
I hope that you all make it to New York one day! I meet so many people from Australia through my work...it would be lovely to meet Australian Andre Fans!

Thank you. When I went to JB they had one DVD, Andre at Royal Albert Hall which I snatched and only one CD, Romantic Paradise, which I also snatched. The salesperson said something about having a lot of trouble bringing the DVD's in from Europe which sounded somewhat odd to me. However, will keep trying. HMV had nothing at all.

I have just bought a Multimix DVD player to play all regions so now I can go crazy on Ebay.com. The US site has almost 300 DVD's but of course a lot of them are duplicated. Even with the conversion rate and postage they are a lot cheaper over there than here and all new.

Mirusia is the latest winner of the Dame Joan Sutherland Opera Award.The newspaper clipping I have says "popular violinist André Rieu is touring with her and their concert will be televised throughout Europe". This performer is in a Celtic spectacular that will soon tour New Zealand & Canada.She makes her debut in"Scotland The Brave" at the Sydney Opera House this Saturday.

as the effort to set up for a tour of the major cities just blows my mind. I
have a little experience with the logistics as my son-in-law does this kind of work, but if Andre cantransform
the skydome into a Vienna gala, he can do the impossible. Have read many stories of Australia, especially Wm S.

& I do believe the reason for the happy
atitude stems from the fact that many of the people started from no-where to make a viable country with only their bare hands. Much like thee US & Canada
who settled the land with little more than their bare hands. Homesteaders on

the wind howling in mid-winter & 40 below or worse, & that's only 100 years ago. Don't think our youth of to-day could countenance such conditions
as my late husband's folks did. Five children under age six, no facilities,
& my paternal forbears did the same thing in New York state in 1640, & I have the whole history as it's been traced back to a hollander from a small
village east of present-day Amsterdam.
Sure makes for interesting reading. The maternal side goes back to 1066, &
they originated in Tuscany Italy, so the adventure that got them from there to Normandy in France must have been

You are so well read. I tell you, between you and Shirley and Lorraine and some of the other fans here, it is like a history lesson. I am in awe.
In just two weeks I'll be on a plane, heading first to Hong Kon and Singapore followed by my fifth time in Australia. I'll be there for a month, visiting friends in Geelong, Melbourne and Brisbane. When Andre and the JSO do an Australian tour, who knows, I may head to Australia yet again.
To the Aussies - keep hounding Andre for a tour, because, as they say, the squeeky wheel gets the grease. I've been to four performances and have tickets to a concert in Edmonton in October and Toronto in December. Once you see and hear Andre and the JSO, you'll be hooked for life.
I first read the article that Sally had put up last night, and I was so excited that Andre had a new soprano!! I couldn't wait to get off work today to comment on it. She's really beautiful, and I'm sure she is very talented as Andre only chooses the best in everything.

My husband, daughter and I were lucky enough to attend his concert in Maastricht in 2006. We met Tanya (cello player) and Pierre 2 days before, eating ice creams as the weather was very hot. Lovely friendly people they were. The night of the concert we also talked to a number of them. Kerryn even got a kiss from the trombone player, and he waved to us after the concert. I watched one of Andre's concerts on DVD last night, a friend brought it over for me to watch and I'm so glad she did because I think he is fantastic musician. The way he enteracts with the crowd(all 18,000 of them) was fantastic. He had a little 3 year old boy playing the violin and the tears were running down my cheek I was so proud of this little boy.He was so cute with his larger than life eyes, and what a talented little man. The music was the best and the orchestra was amazing. It has become my dream to be at one of Andre's concerts. I was actually born in Renkum Holland and will be going to Holland next year to visit relatives and only hope that I will be lucky enough to get to see Andre' I have a cd that I play of his but to see his concert was the best ever! The setting was perfect the weather perfect and the atmosphere was full of warmth and happines. All the ladies in the orchestra looked stunning and the men looked distinguished. I also loved the humour! Thank you for your time!

Just to let us Aussies know, word must be spreading about Andre as I went into HMV in the city today and they had EIGHT DVD's and quite a lot of CD's. This is a first and he even took pride of place on top shelf. Unfortunately I have all 8 DVD's but I bought a CD. Last time I went in they had no DVD's and 2 CD's so things are looking up.

Well, I'm impressed! I've seen these things but never knew what they were called.Didn't they show a person playing one in the 2000 summer olympics?, which by the way, had the most beautiful opening ceremony I've ever seen. This instrument does look like a very difficult one to master, but I wouldn't be surprised if Manoe could play one. That was an interesting web site Mr Bill. This way, we all learn and sort of Travel Along with Andre & his JSO. We Fans have learned so much about countries and 'met' via online and even in person. There is no doubt that André & JSO are becoming known here, not only because of word of mouth but through the pay TV - Ovation. If a tour is to occur in Australia in 2008 much more publicity is needed by André on national TV (SBS or ABC)etc. Pay TV is only a small proportion of general audience, this alone will not guarantee full houses at concert halls. In Australia pay tv is not huge.
André would probably bring with him around at least 70 JSO members and crew - air fares, cost of freight for instruments would cost a minimum of $AUD250,000 - daily accomodation and meals around $10,000 a day. There are wages to pay, venue hire, other expenses - etc etc. André will also have to negotiate with the Musicians Union regarding performances.
The Sydney Opera House - Concert Hall has a capacity of 2,679 - for financial reasons I do not think a concert would be held at the Opera House. The Acer Arena (Sydney Olympic Games site) holds around 21,000.
There are also suitable sites in Melbourne. If concert halls are to be filled to capacity - then publicity is vital - at present I doubt if large venues would be filled without much more publicity.
André is a very astute businessman and certainly knows what he is doing. He, his music, presentation etc continues to make people very happy. He is unique and all fans know this. His music has been a big influence on the life I, and my wife are leading.

We may have to wait perhaps 2 or more years before it is viable for him to come here. But the wait will be well worth it. Like you his music has also influenced my life as well, but of course in the nicest way. Isn't it wonderful to see New York Memories making to #1 here, with 3 others in the top 40 as well. You may have heard by now that New York Memories in No.1 on our Aria music chart in Australia. Not only that, there are 3 other DVD's in the top 40 listed, i.e. Schonbrunn, The Flying Dutchman and Dublin! Andre has to know how much we would like him to come here to perform, it's amazing how quickly he has become known here, since our Foxtel TV channel has been playing his DVD's. My son and I are going to Maastricht and also Toronto for both of his concerts this year, hopefully we won't have to travel so far soon, maybe next year or the year after, please make it Australia, we just all love you and your music. Hi Paul: I think the time is coming when Andre will tour Australia. With Ovation playing his Concerts, his beautiful music getting airplay, and so many Fans in OZ wishing and asking Andre to come, he is sure to hear.
I've seen his concerts are planned 1.5 to 3 years in advance (and who knows if they truly start earlier than that?). Seems to me he just may be working on something for Australia.

I didn't hear the broadcast but my wife said she heard Andre Rieu being discussed on the Ernie Sigley show on 3AW yesterday (Thursday). Apparently, Ernie indicate he would interview Andre WHEN he was in Melbourne!
That leads to another question; would Andre personally come to Australia to check out venues, gain publicity, etc., well ahead of the concert date?

I am so lucky, we will be in Holland this year and yes have tickets to see our André in Maastricht 8th of July, we are great fans of him and he is in our blood, and all our friends and family love him to, we specially purchased a big plasma screen to watch his Dvds, every time all the emotions come out, when we hear his music, if André can't come to Australia, I will go to Holland was my motto. I was wandering around the Carlingford Shopping Centre yesterday. At Angel Music - at the front entrance - they had an Andre Rieu stand with many of his DVDs. Along the length of the wall was "plastered" with Andre Rieu posters - further into the shop was a section of Andre Rieu CDs and DVDs. On speaking to the shop Manager - he said it was an "Andre Rieu" month. He said it was about time Andre was recognised here.
He also knew which DVDs were also released under another title.
He said that many people had seen the Ovation shows on their neighbours' TVs as they could not afford pay (cable) TV. This is the huge missing market which Andre will have to "tap" into if his "proposed" Australian tour is to be a success.
I was recently at the Central Coast of NSW and at the Salamander Bay Shopping Centre they had 10 different Andre DVDs & 10 Different CDs. Just some observations - which I hope can be replicated around the country

I am happy to report that Melbourne is now in the same category. HMV in Bourke Street has many DVD's of Andre and he takes pride of place on very visible top shelves. I also went into our local Sanity shop today and althoug they only have one DVD it's a start as I went in there 2 months ago and the salesperson had never heard of him. I now have about 20 DVD's in my collection which I keep adding to.
Some friends have told me that the commercial channels are now advertising Andre as well not just Foxtel which is wonderful news. Perhaps he will get here one day. Just hope it's sooner rather than later.

I went into his Web site yesterday and he wrote that 6 of his DVD's are now on Australia's top 20 list. This is really great news. Hopefully he will come here one day. There is nothing like him he is totally unique. I am sooooo jealous of the ones who can attend his concerts live. I now buy DVD's on eBay on the US site - they have a huge range.

Do they play on an ordinary d.v.d. or do you have to buy one of those multi ( dont really know what I'm talking about here) d.v.d. units that play the overseas stuff. I would value your help.

I have 2 DVD players, one multi and one Aussie which is connected to the plasma. I played the US ones on the multi but kept freezing so I tried them on the Aussie one and they worked!!! but couldn't get subtitles - who cares. I went into www.ebay.com, then DVD classical and typed in Andre's name up top and there were about 300. I bought 2 from Holland as well also on same site and they play on all DVD players. Hope this helps.

Andre and his Orchestra now have 7 DVD's in our top 40 DVD chart! Amazing, this surely must be some sort of record for one artist at any one time. New York Memories is still No.1 , now followed closely by Schonbrunn at No. 4. We need Andre to tour here, so many people know of him now. Faye

While a "petition" may show some interest in having Andre here in Australia - if all the 600 people who signed the petition had one person with them at a concert, and they were all together at the one concert - this would only fill probably 10-15 rows. Add to this, people who have known Andre for some time - then maybe half a concert hall would be filled.
If several concerts are to be held, then much more publicity would be required on SBS or the ABC. The bulk of the people who will attend probably do not know of Andre at present.Many people do not have pay TV. Some food for thought!
Words of Wisdom Mike. I believe Andre is doing his style of promotion in Australia. I hope he gives a special performance for those in homes such as the one's you've been showing his DVD in for years. It would mean so much to people.

I cannot believe this!! You actually have lived in our part of the world.We live in Gippsland and I have never thought of any member of the JSO even knowing about Australia.

I have been more or less confined to the house for some years. The DVDs of the JSO have been wonderful for me and they are my most precious possessions.

Shortly after my husband died,and when I was at a very low ebb,and for the first time I saw Andre Rieu in the Tuscany DVD, and fell in love with him and his orchestra. I have bought most of the recent DVD's and some early ones when the orchestra was quite small. Andre's music saw me through the hardest days of my life and now I am my old self and enjoy my life, and I'm looking forward to the visit to Australia. I live in Perth and have family in Sydney and Melbourne and Toronto Canada and have been promising myself a live concert and might even end up with four live concerts. Yippee
I have discovered that Keith McGowan on 3AW is a big fan of Andre Rieu. Keith mentions Andre and plays his music. Interesting for a "talk" radio station! Keith hosts the overnight shift 0000-0530 Mondays to Fridays.
Keith has something of a cult following. His program is the highest rated overnight session on Melbourne radio. Sure, many of his listeners who call in are "characters" (some might say eccentrics!) but it is good to see Andre being promoted on a mainstream commercial radio station.
This morning he "played out" to the 0530 news with one of Andre's medleys; the one that includes the William Tell Overture and the Can Can.
I would be pleased if a reader could confirm the tune that is in this medley immediately prior to the Can Can?

Hi Paul, It's Jenni from Melbourne. I am so pleased to hear you speak of Keith MacGowan's Overnighter show. I often listen to him on a Sunday evening driving back to Melbourne. You might like to know that I run an Aged Care Facility and some my Residents listen to Keith for most of the night..!! They also are Andre fans, so you will understand their complete delight daily, as they pass onto me that Keith has played Andre's music many times during the night.
Recently they e-mailed MacGowan and invited him here for the regular "Dinner & Andre Show" we run each week ( d.v.d. ) and he accepted their invitation. They are so excited..!!
It's really great that Andre's wonderful talent is finally starting to make inroads around Australia. Hopefully there will be a concert before too long.. !
Thanks to the kind person who wrote about my blog on here a while ago, and encouraged people to contact me. Some of you have - great to hear from you! I don't attempt to compete with Sally or any other fan website with lots of graphics and pictures. My blog is purely a communication tool for Australian fans of Andre, but I am happy to see messages from fans anywhere else in the world. Sally, if you are reading this, do you know where people get those Andre Rieu scarves that you see them wearing at the concerts on the DVDS? I'd love to get hold of some of those in advance of the JSO tour, so we can have people wearing them long before the JSO are here, and hopefully others will be curious enough to find out more about Andre.
Well Paul, I was hoping someone could answer your question! I am curious too as I don't seem to have that particular medley. I think it's grerat that a talk show host plays Andre. Maybe he could answer your question. I hope someone can.

We have a home theatre with a 3.5m screen and surrond sound. An Andre DVD sounds super. We are sharing our collection of DVDs with many family and friends and the support group is growing. So few have heard of him until they visit and see and hear with us. We would love him to come to NZ, however we would travel to Australia to hear him. What a pity we did not know about him when we visited The Nethlands last year, we would have made an attempt to visit his home town. If you visit NZ and Whitianga, do come an join us for an evening with Andre.

I checked out several web sites and found mp3 files of the Aviators' March composed by J P Sousa. It seems to be a different tune to the one in the medley! Another site listing Andre's concert details clearly showed the Aviators' March to be the Sousa version!
To add interest, I found another site with a Russian Aviators' March complete with vocal refrain! It was a different tune again but would make a very rousing to addition to the Andre Rieu repertoire. H Dostal and of course the arrangement is by Andre.

To Shirley and everyone. Christine Blacker from Townsville, Australia here. I did put that suggestion of calling Andre's tour here the "Kanga-Rieu Tour" in his guest book. To be honest with you I don't know if I had it in mind, saw it somewhere else, or heard someone here in Townsville suggest it, but I thought it was just the perfect name for his tour. Its lovely reading everyone's entries in this blog. Guess we are all very excited at the prospect of Andre coming to Australia. I have been in contact with Lyndall Freeman, the lady in South Australia who started the original petition to get Andre here, but is now getting petitions together for each state so Andre may consider giving a concert in more than one or two capital cities. I would encourage all the Australin fans who visit this site to contact Lyndal by email so she can add your name to a petition. Her email address is lyndall_f@hotmail.com
My biggest dissapointment would be that once the dates and venues were announced, I was unable to get tickets to attend. The roumor is that it will be September 2008. But of course nothing is for sure until he posts it in the agenda on his official website.

I wonder if anyone can help me with Stenka Rasin on DVD/Video.I have it on CD but it was not included on the Australian version of the Albert Hall DVD. This is going back a while, maybe 2000. It was played in the closing ceremony of the 2000 Olympics (Seekers)and I would like to know if it has been performed by Andre more recently.

Andre did record it on his video "Das Jahrtausendfest" - I seem to recall that this was a millenium concert in Cologne in 2000.One has to recall where and when the Russian trio performed.

I'm pretty sure the 3 Russians were on a DVD called Le Vie Est Belle as I have it. It's a concert in a huge outdoor stage a bit like the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne.

Stenka Rasin was on the La vie est belle video - but not the DVD.
The Video ran for 80 minutes - whereas the DVD ran for 59 minutes. There were several pieces of music left out of the DVD - Stenka Rasin was one of them.The La vie est Belle was also another millenium concert in 2000 at Waldbuhne.
The 3 Russians are called the "St Petersburg Trio", you might do a search on them to see what you could find.
I believe that Andre is coming to Melbourne for 1 night later this year. When and where can anyone tell me. I want tickets for sure.

Hi Pauline, I shall most certainly be exploring every avenue for this and am prepared to go to Sydney if that is the only place although my source, perhaps not particularly reliable, said it was one night at Melbourne Concert Hall. So fingers crossed. I only discovered him when my Father on New Year's Eve watched the 2001 Vienna New Year's Eve concert on Ovation as I was at a wedding, but we have been hooked ever since.

I think that my source has made a mistake unless Andre does not have time off this year in August his schedule is fixed right up to end of the year and so I do not think we shall see him here this year. When I prompted my source again he asked "who" and when I told him Andre he decided that he thinks it was somebody else!!! Woe is me. I am sorry therefore that I have spread a false rumour but hopefully next year it could be true.

Dear Margaret. Like you, I know that Andre is coming to Australia, its just a matter of when and where. I guess all we can do is keep checking his Agenda on his official website. I tend to think that it will be towards the end of next year, and depending on ticket sales, it will probably be either Sydney or Melbourne or both. If I hear anything for to confirm this I will certainly let you know via this Blog. I'm sure wherever he performs, the tickets will sell out fast. I live in Townsville and am willing to travel to where I have to, to see him perform.

I first heard about Andre 3 years ago from some fellow James Last fans. It seems if you like one you like the other although they play different types of music. I was told to buy the Tuscany concert as it was a great one to start with so I did. It is still one of my favourite DVD's. I have 7 DVD's of Andre now and I really hope he comes to Australia. I live in Melbourne so please come and perform here! I would go to another city though if need be.
I'm a big fan of Carmen and Carla but I hear they have left the JSO recently which is sad although they will come back now and again to do special shows, etc.

Hello Neville, I am from the US, but saw your comment on James Last. He too is a favorite of mine.I especially love his version of Don't Cry For Me Argentina, which even Webber himself says is the best arrangement of that piece ever written. that's quite a compliment. I know many of us here in the US really hope that Andre is serious about coming to Australia. we would love to see a dvd made from that trip, so we will all keep our fingers crossed for that to happen.

For those living in Melbourne, there is a radio station Radio Eastern 98.1 (covering the eastern suburbs mostly) that has a format featuring the likes of James Last, Percy Faith, Mantovani, etc.

Wish we had a radio station that played those great performers. I have several lps of Percy Faith & Mantovani.several cds of James Last, but it would ne nice to have a radio station to hear. We have golden oldies stations but usually not that "golden"! I heard Mantovani play the theme from Limelight way before Andre played it. Don't tell Andre, but I think I liked Mantovani's best.

IT may be the fault of convention, rather than the Gold Coast Convention Centre, that causes Gold Coasters to be denied the pleasure of seeing top-shelf, new age orchestral works in their own city.
The Queensland Orchestra, a magnificent group of musicians, usually only comes to the Gold Coast as part of its regional obligations. Modern performances of orchestral work, such as the superb Queen concert given at the Brisbane Convention Centre last Saturday, mostly are staged for the benefit of state capital audiences.
But the arrival of new wave orchestral music hopefully will encourage QO to stage more concerts on the Gold Coast. We believe the Gold Coast is culturally well-suited and more than ready to welcome the classic-cum-rock shows that are becoming the staple of capital city music lovers.
Queen, a QO presentation of Freddie Mercury songs led by chosen musicians from the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, played to a packed audience in Brisbane. It should have had at least a second showing on the Gold Coast, perhaps in the Gold Coast Exhibition and Convention Centre or at the usual concert venue of the Gold Coast Arts Centre.
The orchestra, led by charismatic and inspiring young American conductor Marc Taddei, shook the dynamics normally associated with orchestral music.
Instead of politely having a good time, the audience -- and the orchestra -- were rockin' along with the tunes.
The merging of rock and orchestral influences reflects a wider revolution happening around the world in classical music, epitomised by the work of artists such as violinist Andre Rieu.
With Rieu performances come musicians with coloured rather than black gowns and soul singers sharing the high Cs with operatic soloists.
The brilliantly integrated Queen concert, after several encores, ended cheekily with a rendition of God Save The Queen as the audience filed from the auditorium.
We need this sort of fun on the Gold Coast. Being more Bolero than Rachmaninov, the Coast is the perfect place to stage the wonderful synthesis of 18th and 19th century music with the rock'n'roll of the 20th century.

OFFICIALDOM in sport can be as puzzling as government bureaucracy.
Proof of this can be found in the treatment of the Gold Coast Breakers rugby union side which recently was stripped of 12 competition points for playing an unregistered player.
The heavy-handed penalty was imposed for a technicality, not for a deliberate act of cheating. Indeed, the player involved is not a superstar, the illegal signing could not have altered the state of the competition and the player has been with the Breakers ever since his signing for two games was found to be in breach of the rules.
The QRU's aggressive approach to rules for club teams could show where its priorities lie. It is nit-picking about sign-on breaches just weeks after its Super 14 flagship, the Queensland Reds, surrendered the state's pride with a 92-3 loss to the Bulls in South Africa. In contrast with the Reds' capitulation, the inexperienced young Sunshine Coast side beaten 57-5 by the Breakers on the weekend bravely refused to give up until the final whistle.
Now that's the sort of spirit that Queensland rugby should be all about.

For those who have the NY Memories concert isn't the new lass with the Saxophone terrific? I really enjoyed her number "Yackety Sax". Another highlight was when Andre played "My Way", the reaction from the audience was amazing! I got fairly emotional as well. The Radio City Music Hall looks incredible and the fans really got into the spirit of the music, great to see.

I would like to add our names to the plethora of other Aussies wanting to see Andre visit here. Was introduce to his music through a friend looking for something that a 3 yo would like to dance too and learn to play the piano too as well. Well we've been hooked ever since.
Craig and I are flying out on Thursday 21st. June, to Frankfurt, north to Scandanavia before heading down to Maastricht for the concerts. I very rarely dream but last night I dreamt Andre was on our flight on Thursday so that meant he was in Australia checking out venues! Wishful thinking? or an omen? I have a lovely banner to hold up at the concert to encourage him.

Hi Pauline I finally managed to track down the DVDs I was after and I have ordered one from Venue365 being the Mother's Day concert in the US. My order was confirmed but so far I have not heard anything about it even after a couple of emails. Have you had anything to do with this company before? I would just like to know if they are genuine because the charge has gone through Amex and it makes me wonder but I am sure that Andre would not have anything that was not "kosher" on his website. I would be iterested to get your comments.

I have had my copy for about 4 months, got it from a Sydney seller on eBay. Our local shopping centre DVD seller is now showing Andre's DVD on his screen in the middle of the walkway... word's spreading.

Word is that Andre's DVDs are selling quicker than they can get them in the shops here in Adelaide.
Beginning of this year noticed the DVDs first, now can't find a shop that doesn't sell them.
Peter, Have you tried the Ovation channel website, they had them all until a couple of days ago but they do get stocks in very quickly.

Rieu, die dit weekeinde drie midzomernachtconcerten geeft in De Efteling, is ontzettend populair 'down under'. "Ik sta met zeven dvd's in de top twintig in Australië", vertelt de muzikant die wel al door Azië en de Verenigde Staten heeft getoerd. "Er is momenteel geen ander land in de wereld waar ik zo populair ben."
In Australië worden relatief weinig concerten gegeven door buitenlandse artiesten. Dit zou te maken hebben met het feit dat het heel duur is alles te verschepen naar het werelddeel.

Glad you translated as my Dutch is a tad limited although I sort of got the gist of what he was saying. I hope we are notified very early so I can get really good seats near the front, I do so want to see him and the orchestra. I am going blind so would like to actaully see him in person before this happens. Trouble is I don't know when this will happen, it will just happen without warning. I will still be able to hear but wouldn't be the same as he is magical to watch, on DVD anyway. I guess we will be kept informed of his movements from time to time.

how can we persuade Andre to come to Adelaide? We are pensioners and I use a walking frame. It would be a lot to go to Sydnet, Melbourne or Perth.
i live in humbug scrub south australia an hour from adelaide , we miss out on a lot of good shows yet have good venues , come on all you adelaidians, get andre to adelaide too.

Hello Again Ingrid: It is so exciting to hear Andre is going to Australia. His manager and advance team have already scouted locations. What a complex job they must have and congratulations to them for doing so well. It won't be long before we have the Official Confirmation of When & Where Andre's concerts in Australia will be.

Dear Elisabeth, as far as I know he will be here in Jan/Feb to do a promotional tour and then all being well we shall get some concerts out of him. I believe he is going to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Just when the concerts are to be I do not know they may be the Jan/Feb and if that is the case I should think that we shall be informed very soon.

Margaret thank you for passing on the information about Andre'. It will be fantastic to have him come to Australia. It's certainly my dream come true to see him here! I loved watching the DVD of his concert in New York where "The Harlem Gospel Choir" mixed in with "JSO", they were fantastic and Andre' bouncing around all over the place made me laugh.The concert with little Akim, what a little entertainer he is and very talented. He will go far. Sorry for raving on like this but I just love Andre' and his JSO!!! Once again thanks for your response it was appreciated.
Elisabeth I agree with you he is fantastic and so is little Akim. I have not watched the New York concert as yet. I have bought the DVD of several concerts which we have also taped from the Ovation Channel so when I do start to watch I think I have almost a whole day's viewing. I am so hoping that he comes to Melbourne and to a venue that will be a good one and able to get tickets close to the front. I have joined all the necessry ticket agencies to see if they are able to help with tickets and hopefully they are not all available on Andre's website. If I hear any further I shall let you know. It's exciting to see this ever-growing interest in Andre in Australia. In Perth his dvd's and cd's are suddenly everywhere. Many of my friends and family have recently discovered Andre independently of each other. Guaranteed there will be loads of support if he's prepared to trek over here to the "world's most isolated capital"! Looking forward to it (in presumptuous anticipation!). I'll be taking my kids, parents and grandparents - all fans!

You bring up an interesting point about Andre. His music attracts all ages. I've seen children dancing in the aisles right along side of seniors. One man was 96 years young and next to me where children of 7 and 9 who gathered other kids and they danced as a group.
Watch for Andre to make an official announcement. We are all excited thinking it will be 2008 or 2009.
I originated from Holland and when I went back for a holiday in 1998. My sister-in-law was playing his music one day and thats how I got to know of him. I liked it so much that I bought a CD to take back home. It wasn't until about four months ago that I actually got to see him on DVD and now I'm hooked! I can't wait to see him live.I love his music,the orchestra, the singing,the setting,the fun they have just everything about them. Andre lives and breathes his music, and the way he interacts with the crowd is fantastic.They are all so talented.It's a dream come true him coming to Australia. A lot of my patients like him as well so they will be happy to hear he is coming to Australia.I just get carried away when I talk about them! Hope I haven't put you all to sleep with my ravings.

I had a call today from a friend of mine who is very well connected to the local Dutch community. My friend said strong word around the Melbourne Dutch community was that Andre and the JSO are definitely coming to Australia in 2008. The report says the Australia tour will follow performances in Japan and either Hong Kong or Singapore.

Paul, we know Andre's Advance Team was there a few weeks ago, and Andre himself will be there soon. Sounds like the plans are in the works.
My dad who is elderly and a bit wobbly on his feet is so disappointed that Andre may not be appearing in Adelaide. It is unfortunate that dad will miss out because flying is a bit difficult for him. Pity but I hope Andre changes his itineracy and can fit Adelaide in.

Hello Martin: I think in every Andre Rieu DVD I have, there are animals of some type. And to see him with his dogs and birds...this is a man who is not afraid to give his beloved pets a hug and kiss. I think so many of us Fans also love animals.
It is beyond wonderful to care so much for animals to want to and in fact help them. Jeanine Ann just adopted another cat from the shelter. Ingrid has her Sanctuary, you want to have one for farm animals and gosh so many of us have pets. Our fur babies give an unconditional love that we humans could learn a lot from.

hi martin, i run a sanctuary for injured australian wildlife, they are whenever possible then released on our property, we have emues and kangaroos , i hand rear baby joeys , have done wombats and keep birds that have been abused too, they love to hear andres music , when im in the shed cutting food up cheers ingrid

I have just been reading all your comments about Andre' and his love of animals. I think people who care about animals are very special! I have two dogs and a cat and am also looking after my sons dog as they have a baby and puppies and baby's don't mix too well, as puppies are very energetic. I love having little Sasha here, she gets on well with my dogs but I will be a bit teary when she has to go home again. They (the dogs)have heard me play Andre's music over and over again, so have the neighbors! If dogs could sing they would know Andre's music off by heart.I live in suburbia but when I go for walks I see Kangaroos in the reserve where I walk, and the highlight of my day is seeing them. It still amazes me that we have Kangaroos in a built up area. Well thats enough from me, all you lovely people out there take care!
Ingrid, Martin and Elisabeth - I so enjoyed reading your posts. Isn't it amazing that no matter where we are - USA, Australia or Netherlands we all have and love so many animals. I would just love to take a walk and see Kangaroos or any of the other animals that I am not familiar with but of course we have no animals roaming unless you go out to the farms and see the sheep, cows and goats. Are these Kangaroos just on the reserve or do they roam in other areas? What are emues, joeys and wombats? Have a beautiful day. Hugs
Jeanine Anne : Where I live there are houses are on one side of the road and the reserve is just a bushy area across the road. There is a 6 klm walk through the reserve and in the winter it is like a lake inside the reserve but in summer it unfortunately dries up. There are little bridges that go over the wetlands so that people can still walk through there in winter. In summer you have to watch out for snakes, which is not so nice but goes with the territory. The area is full of different types of birds and also when I go to bed I can hear the frogs croaking away but i love it. Next to me is a park and in the park is a huge gum tree. Right at the top there is a hawks nest, it is the biggest nest I have ever seen. Every year they breed so you hear the young ones and watch as the parents teach them to fly. It is lovely to watch! One day when I was coming home from my walk I heard a noise in the bush, and thought it was my naughty cat waiting for me so I went up to where I heard the noise and called "Puss" "Puss" I said come on Max and right in front of me, out of the bush a Kangaroo appeared. We stared at each other for a few seconds, I don't know who got the biggest fright me or the Kangaroo. I walked to the side and he just kept going across the road and into the park, it was so funny. It was summer and he was heading for the man made lake at the other end of the park so that he could get a drink.
You have to be careful travelling by car in the country areas as kangaroos can run out onto the road. I have had a few close calls. Emu's can do the same, not everywhere just in certain areas. I hate the thought of hitting them and hurting them, they can also do a lot of damage to the cars. They come out from nowhere! I travel to my sister's for a visit, I usually go on a weekend as it is 400kms away. If I come home as it is getting dark that is when you have to watch out for Kangaroos and Emu's. One sister is on a property with horses she is two and a half hours away and the other sister is a further hour and a half away. She lives near the coast, her house overlooks the bay and it has a lovely view! All round it is a four hour drive. Well thats it for now, You all take care and be happy!

I think you live in Australian Heaven! (snakes scare me. ewww) I love all animals and enjoy watching them. I worry about animals not having enough wilderness. We must take care of all creatures.

hi jeanine/ we live in the hills, and the wildlife are also on our roads. emues are like an ostrich,and i have many, when i unload my shopping they try to help,a joey is a baby kangaroo, and most have them in the pouches now the wombat well he is a funny animal, they are little bulldozers, a bit like a bear, they have big heads but cute ,long claws too.on our proprty every animal can come and go if they want ,but they seem to like it here and tell their friends, cheers to you all

According to Andre's guestbook, a fan has written that he has a brother who lives in Maastricht, Andre's hometown, and the brother mentions that in the local newspaper Andre has said he is planning concerts in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth. There seems to be no date yet, but it surely will be something to look forward to for all you fans in Australia.
Hi Elisabeth, thank you for that long, lovely story. It sounds just wonderful where you live. I love the thought that you can just be outside and suddenly you see a kangaroo. I love nature and would dearly love to hear the frogs at night. We hear the locusts but that is about all. We have the same problem with deer that you have with kangaroos running out on the road. We have a lot of deer in the woods just behind us and we feed them over the winter with deer corn. In the summer there is plenty of foliage for them to eat (also our flowers

Thank you sally for your email. Great news. I will go to at least 4 of those cities to see concerts! Sydney is the best city (cause I live there) but all our cities have their own character they are all beautiful. I cant wait for the dates.I hope its in October because we have our daylight savings and the evenings would be so balmy and warm and to sit and listen to music under the southern skies would be brilliant.
Maybe Andre could look outside the square for his Sydney concert venue? We see so many images of the beautiful (and unaffordable for most people) harbourside areas. There are huge expanses of rather ordinary suburbs particulary in the west. Maybe a concert at Macquarie Fields or Mount Druitt (or perhaps even the Rooty Hill RSL; the "Vegas" of the West) would be appropriate.
And, if the concert, was televised people around the world would see that most of Sydney is quite different to the images we usually see?
But, no matter where he performs, it will be great to welcome Andre to Australia!

Hi everyone!. I have really enjoyed reading all the stories about the animals!.My wife and I are really passionate about all the beautiful critters and love to hear how people have such a deep love for them.In a later post I will talk more about my passion for animals and especially the horrible ways farm animals are treated in our society and ways to help them.
But as far as Andre's concerts in Sydney go,I have to say that I do not agree with him performing in suburbs like Rooty Hill or Mt Druitt.(Sorry Paul!!)Sydney has some beautiful spots for a concert,namely the Opera House and several other locations around the harbour.I grew up in the western suburbs and have to say that there is nothing pleasing to the eye there that would make for a TV special of the same beauty as the rest of Andre's specials.A DVD with the title Andre Rieu - "Live In Rooty Hill ,Sydney Australia " just would be to weird to wrap ones head around!.But in the end ,having Andre perform anywhere in Australia is better than nowhere in Australia!.

Hi, The Opera House would be nice but I think most impractical as it only seats about 2500. I reckon JSO would want venues with at least ?5-10000 seating capacity, maybe more? I also did a cruise of the ticket costs at some of the venues in their next leg of USA tour and the prices are very expensive. Front row seats in one place $400US. I would want a hug from him as well!! How does one be lucky enough to get front row seats - money I suppose. I think it should be first in first serve. How much do most of you pay to go see JSO. At the same time I would hate to sit up the back of the show and not see him (for real). I wonder if they will have buses here like the US and drive between each city. Cant wait for the dates!!!
Hi Kate, the tickets here in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington, USA are $500 for first row seats, behind that are the $300 seats, then beyond that, the seats sell for about $65. If you wish to see Andre and JSO up close, then there is no other choice.
I look at it this way...
Andre, his music and the JSO orchestra are my only pleasure and escape venture all year long, I pay the price because of all the things that I go through all year long, I feel I deserve this beautiful moment of life. Andre's music has brought so much peace and happiness in my life that the price of the ticket is secondary.
For the $500...I would love to get that "Hug"...however, knowing that's not likely to happen
Hi Kate, I think that any shows would have to be in a very large arena to make it pay. Also the tickets I imagine would be expensive especially for decent seats. I believe that in Vienna it cost 500 Euros for 3 tickets which were average. I am prepared to spread my budget for a ticket and hopefully would get a good seat. I think in Melbourne it would be at Rod Laver arena which is about the largest or the Myer Music Bowl but if it rains then what!!! Let's hope we can both get there wherever it is.

Hi. Oh yes lets try and bring out this wonderfully talented fun and funny man to Australia. I was doing the mundane task of taking up a pair of jeans, when we were skipping thru the channels on Ovation. I heard this wonderful vibrant music, and said to my remote controll worker (daughter) STOP. For the next two hours I laughed, cried, cheered and clapped. All of this to the TV. I was hooked, I became a Andre Rieu fan there and then. The vibrancy, vigour, and the stamina with which he brings the music to life, just made my heart swell.
So yes if we can bring this wonderful man to Australia. I will definately be in the audience.

I hope the jeans turned out even on both legs. I know how you can get distracted. I am watching one of his DVD's at the moment, La Vie Est Belle, and enjoying a glass of red. What a fantastic performance. The 300 members of the European Pipe Band were fabulous. I purchased this and the Flying Dutchman, yesterday, to add to my collection.
I will be fabulous when he performs in Australia, no matter where he performs.

I watched "Andre' in Dublin" today for about the 5th time, I was showing the dvd to a friend. I couldn't stop laughing through the whole concert, the music as usual was fantastic and his quirky ways and audience participation was the best. It is funny when you think we all come from different parts of the world and yet we all feel at ease with each other. I come from Western Australia and can't wait to see Andre' and his orchestra!

Live in Dublin was my favorite DVD for a long time. It is still one of my most watched concerts. I agree with you about the audience being great. Wish we were there.

Hi Jeanette, André does not tell us all he does. If you look at the article you will see he will be in Australia, but not that he is giving a concert. Andre does not post about his setup, meetings, luncheons and so forth.
This is part of the advance planning.
If we waited for all things to be on André's website, we'd wait forever for some things, and we would miss the boat on others. And that said, there are things that are private for only André and his team to know of, and of course just like with us, things that are his and his alone.
But we sure have fun finding things out!

I do not have all Andre's DVD's, just 9 at this stage.
When I was a little boy, and before I started school I listened to classical music on ABC radio. I have always loved the violin and was hoping to be on stage playing. My other dream was to be a conductor. Those dreams were not fulfilled, so now I have an opportunity to share the beautiful music, performed by Andre, with the rest of the world!

I have 17 of his DVD's and about 9 CD's in my collection.
I have just read in the Sunday paper that he is coming here in September for a promotional tour. Just what this means is for any one to guess but it did go on to say that he would be performing here at some time but no definite dates as yet. Are we to wait another year or more for Andre to visit these shores.

I must say this is one of the best sites I've ever come across. It's great to have so many people so enthusiastic and excited about such a great musician,it's certainly given me something to look forward to every day!
All you people are so lovely. Andre' if you ever read the messages on this site, it must give you great pleasure to know so many people enjoy your music and hold you so close to their hearts.
I had a sad day today as I found out a patient of ours is no longer with us. He was very special to us and we will miss him. I used to always talk to him about wanting to see Andre'. He used to laugh at me! Reading your messages has brightened my day! My dogs are on the floor next to me, they are asleep at the moment and puss is also next to me one happy little family. I moved from Germany to Australia in 1983.
Just saw his Christmas concert.I loved it and it made me pretty homesick.

Hi Sharon(I have a sister named Sharon).I think you will find a lot of your questions answered when you get the book, and I'm probably not the most informed person to ask questions of, but from what I know, the sons had musical lessons & are quite knowledgable about music, but Marc prefers to paint, he is an artist, Pierre plays trumpet, sometimes he plays in the orchestra, but mostly Pierre is in charge of production. You see him behind the camera a lot.I think both boys had violin lessons but chose different paths. Jean-Philippe on the other hand is quite an accomplished pianist, he has a link to his web site, I believe it's under "music and more" page.I'll let someone else fill you in on more information. Thereare many who know more than I.

Sharon,I am also a huge Elvis Presley fan and have every recording that has ever been released by him.I also never had a chance to see him in concert(too young at the time)but with Andre it will be a different story!.Its great to see Andre fans that love Elvis too!.He had the greatest voice of all the popular singers.

Well cant say i was too young as Elvis was my first love,my sister every saturday and myself spent all day swooning over him at the cinemas watching his latest movie.I watched ALOHA FROM HAWAII live and thought not much longer and he will tour Australia.
Those were the days,and the scary thing its as vivid as yesterday!
I have just about collected all of his movie DVDs.Lets hope that maybe oneday we may see ANDRE an entourage playing the greats from ELVIS.

I liked it. This way, no matter where in the world André plays, we could all "watch" him Live!
Sharon, you & my sister Sharon would really like each other. She is another great Elvis fan.We never saw him live either, but we did go to Graceland on the 10th year anniversary of his death. there is a special candlelight ceremony. people from all over the world attend. It is very, very touching tribute. A few years later my husband and I went back to Memphis, to see Graceland in the daylight.Anyone who liked Elvis should make that trip at least once. You have to see it for yourself. I hadn't known before that Elvis liked to visit Memphis Symphony concerts and that he really liked the Metropolitin Opera. The man told us that Elvis loved the voice of Mario Lanza and watched all his movies. That did make sense to me because I had often detected a certain quality to Elvis's voice, that with the right training he might well have followed a different path When I hear him sing How Great Thou Art, or It's now or Never, I get a hint of a great voice inside. But no matter what, he was one of a kind, his music will never die. And to tell you the truth, I think he would love Andre! He just loved music. period!
Hello fellow Aussie fans of Andre, I have just been catching up on Sally's blog thread for us, and it is great to see so much excitement. Martin, I am also a diehard Elvis fan, and I was lucky enough to see him in concert in San Francisco the year before he died. We got front row seats, and I got one of his scarves! I doubt I could be so lucky a second time with Andre! By the way, I bought one of Andre's blue and white scarves from his website, and have it sitting on the parcel shelf in my car. I've had quite a few people comment on it - "Where did you get that? Is he really coming here?"

I watched "Christmas with Andre'" last night, and thoroughly enjoyed it, I was born in Holland but have never gone there in winter so have not seen snow. It certainly looks spectacular, will have to see it for myself one day. I have also ordered his book which I'm looking foreword to reading. All you lovely people give me something to look forward to every day. Andre' is such a pleasure to watch he oozes emotion when he plays his music. He raises my spirits and makes me feel good inside. I always end up with a big smile on my face and feel like applauding him even though he's not there in the room at the time. I don't know if anyone else is silly enough to do that. He just seems like a beautiful person. How many DVD's has he put out and what are they all called so that I know which ones I still have to get. Well goodnight everyone and take care.

Hi Elisabeth and Denny, if you want to see all of Andre's recordings and I mean every one, CD', DVD's, vinyl, videos, etc. go to www.leviolinmagique.net It is a French site and it is a beautiful place. They even show tons of things that Andre has autographed. A lot of the titles are in English and you can tell by looking at them. You cannot order anything there but you will get an idea of how many he has. The hard part is trying to find them especially the older CD's and videos. Andre's official site has some DVD's and CD's but not the older ones with the MSO. You will be amazed at this site.
Elisabeth, I feel just as you do. Andre IS a beautiful person. I have never seen anyone play with such emotion and feeling as he does. When I was in Miami in April I watched him play Song Of The Volga through my opera glasses and I could just see all the love and emotion in his eyes for the music he was playing. It was something that is etched in my brain forever. I remember it was near the end of the tour, he had one more concert in Tampa, and he looked very tired but that did not take away the emotion he was feeling. I found myself sitting there smiling all through the concert. I am sure you will too. Hugs to all
yes, yes, please, I ache to see our boy over here in australia, I seem to have most of the DVD's advertised but would love to get a hold of some of his original work. I love the whole group and the music brings back memories of my parents in their sitting room in Scotland listening to all the wonderful sounds and my mum playing along on her piano,they have been gone many years now, which I feel makes my DVD's so precious, I just know how much my parents would have loved to see what we are so lucky to have now

I am wondering if anyone knows when and where Andre will be appearing when he does his promo tour in Sydney,and if it will be possible to meet him?.Is it still planned for September?.
I've never seen André release that information. In the start of his coming to the USA, he would go to our local PBS stations and be live on the air while they had 'pledge drives'. Ruth Morgan was working the phones for her local PBS when André was there and got to meet him. Other than that I do not know of anyone who was able to meet with him. Just those working his promotion tour.
That's what I'm thinking too. I think it will be like a business trip, just to set things up for the upcoming concerts and I doubt that any fans could meet with him anywhere, not unless they work with media in some way.A lot of preplanning has to take place.I doubt that anyone but those involved in the promotion will even know he's there unless there is a TV interview somewhere.
I'd carry his garbage out to the street for a year just to shake his hand!
But, that's just me. What say others?

I finally received my book in the mail about Andre' and how he got started with his musical career. I was really impressed with its presentation and I love all the photo's. I have only just started reading it but have thoroughly enjoyed what I've read so far. I look forward to reading more!
I had lunch with a friend of mine yesterday and she was really upset, her pet dog died. He was old and had lived a great life but his time ran out and he had to go to "doggie heaven" He was the father of my pet dog Brandee. It's so sad when they go!!!! Has there been any other news as to when Andre' is coming? I can't wait. Hope you're all keeping well, love reading all your segments. Goodnight x

There is word that Andre's tour would be in December, 2008 but I have no details. So glad you like Marjorie's book. I found it fascinating and want to read it again. I am sorry about your friend's dog. I had to have my beautiful British Bulldog put to sleep 3 weeks ago and am suffering badly, so I really know how she feels. I don't think I will get over the feeling that I killed him even though he had a brain tumour but was only 7. Could you tell me where you got the book please and the name of it as I would love to get a copy. The Flying Dutchman is on as I type and I also have it on DVD but I never get tired of watching Andre over and over again. I am impatient to hear when he is coming here, will camp on footpath if necessary.

I have quite a lot of info on where Andre is going to be whilst in Melb. this week. He's being interviewed by Ernie Sigley on Friday (3AW)on radio Friday arvo and by Keith McGowan also, for his overnighters program. He is appearing at Eastland Ringwood "J.B. Hi-Fi" on Saturday at 12 for autographs etc. Hope this helps. We hope to go, although Centre Management tell us that there are going to be 1000's of people.. !!!

I did see where he was going to be on Ovation last night. I only live 10 minutes from Eastland so I am going to "brave" it or at least try to but where JB Hi Fi is located it's not a large area and there is a small stage a bit further away from them, also not a large area. I was thinking more like 100's not 1000's!!!! I would love him to sign my copy of his book though - if I can elbow and bite my way through the crowds.

You are very fortunate that you live in Sydney and have the chance to see him as I do not think that he will be interviewed on any Melbourne programme. The Ovation interview on Wednesday is from his "Castle" in the Netherlands so is not a live interview. I hope though that you can attract his attention so that he can really see how much we want him here.

Hi Paul: I had to laugh at that too. Not long ago I read an article in a major newspaper which said "the German violinist". As much as André loves his hometown, gives concerts there and so forth, I would think the world would know where he is from.
Exciting is where he is going.... Yea ! for Australia !
I must admit I really laughed when Andre was taking the mickey out of the Americans (in the nicest possible way of course) pn the DVD. His impressions must have been similar to mine after several trips to the USA. The girl in Starbucks was a classic as was the guy in the supermarket! But the Americans are great fans of Andre and have no doubt contributed to both his incredible success (and wealth).
I am certainly looking forward to seeing him at Eastland on Saturday. Imagine Andre in the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne only a mile from my home!

Andre is going to be at Eastland - I heard on the small stage behind Jamaica Blue coffee lounge and JB Hi Fi also on same level. I also heard from Jenna that the centre said there would be 1000's there!!!!!

My wife and I are fans of Andre Rieu and are excited at the prospect of his touring OZ in 2008.
I note from his other tours that he often includes some local flavour.
I would heartily recommend that "DAWN MANTRAS" by Ross Edwards be included in any OZ concert as it is so evocative of this wonderful country
No sign of Andre with Kerri-Anne as yet. Maybe tomorrow! Will be listening to Ernie on Friday as well. I may even go to Ringwood but not sure of that just yet.

In the USA we buy our tickets about a year in advance. It's the only way to get any kind of a good seat.
I think it's wonderful there is all this excitement in our neck of the woods (Australia) I hope Andre gets a warm feeling knowing he is so loved here...I only wish I was closer so I could meet all the fans at Jamica Blue and JB HIFI ... that is where I get all my Andre dvd's and cd's from ... the security guy on the door now even knows me by name ha ha ha. I live in Perth but travel the world daily on this wonderful website. Please know that I will be thinking of you all over in the East ... take me with you please on your shoulder... ha ha. Seven of us just had the pleasure of meeting Andre during the taping of his interview with Kerrie-Anne!.He performed "My Way" and then spoke to Kerrie-Anne.
When it was over he came and shook all our hands and thanked us for coming to see him.Actually meeting him was an incredible feeling.
Thankyou to the brave ladies who arrived at 5am and made it possible to meet him.
Andre was very friendly and probably gained thousands of new fans by doing this interview with Kerrie-Anne.

For all those of you who will just shuffle the crowds alone.. "how lucky you are" Look out for me with 6 elderly grandma's & grandpa's on my arms all desperate to get a glimpse of Andre ! The things we do for our Maestro ! I was hoping they might be able to sit on a chair (ha! ha!)but upon making inquiries at the centre today,was told that there was only very limited disabled seating as the crowds were expected to exceed well over what has been planned, and there was simply going to be no room !! Still my passionate 80 year olds are pleading to go....! Several of them claim they might not "make it" to Andre's concert next year....so, what can I do.. ?

Yes,the interview has been aired as the show goes out live.I did leave the tape running when I was there but upon returning home discovered that the reception had been very bad as I have a indoor antenna.

I believe the tickets are on sale in November so there will be a mad rush on my part to try and get 2 excellent seats but of course as I am only 1 of the thousands it could be very difficult, can just pray that we are both lucky.

We are fortunate enough to have been able to get tickets to his concert here ! Row "B" !! I have to tell you we are counting the days !!...
I managed to get 5 tickets for the concert but the really good seats were already gone by the time I could get in to buy them after work. I was told that a woman was there at 5 am to get her tickets and she's in the front row. The was a long queue when they opened up this morning as well, that was at the Frankston branch. I'm in the level 3 area and off to one side but that should be O.K. as it's not that big a stadium anyway. The hard part now will be waiting nearly a year to see the show!
I have 2 tickets in Arena B Section 2 which I purchased before the Ovation channel put out tickets and I now hae 2 tickets in Arena A so if anyone was interested the Arena B tickets could be on sale by me later next year. Just to let anyone who was not able to get seats
Please Andre do not think that you have to play Waltzing Matilda or any other Australian songs. We do not want to hear them we want the music you play on your European tours and please no aboriginal dancers. We are coming to see you and the JSO and I know that people just want to listen to your waltzs etc. not Australian culture. So PLEASE DO NOT play anything other than the music we hear on CD and see on your DVDs. Thank you Margaret
Margaret - Almost everywhere Andre has a concert, he includes a bit of local content and I think it is a good idea. Many people get great satisfaction from hearing Andre play one of the hometown tunes. In an interview I heard a few days ago, Andre said he would be using local childrens choirs in each City in Australia and they would be singing "Waltzing Matilda" "Still Call Australia Home" "Home Among The Gumtrees" etc.
I do understand that Andre feels he needs to introduce some local music but I really am not thrilled about the idea and I only hope that it does not mean that we shall miss out on some of the waltzes and other music he plays. Margaret - Please no aboriginal dancers.
Is there any way fans can meet some of the Orchestra and choir? I noticed that Carmen and Carla will be here with the tour and I'd love to meet them as well as several of the musicians.

I have recently been introduced to the wonderful sounds of Andre Rieu and his orchestra and must say how fantastic he is. Please can someone tell me how to get tickets for his concert in Melbourne or maybe he is coming here to Perth and don't have to travel over eastern states?

Nothing has been confirmed about Peth yet we are still waiting to hear.
Concert in Adelaide on 18 November Tickets through Ticketek. Concerts in Melbourne 14 and 15 November. Tickets through Ticketmaster. I would try for 14/11 as they are better seats. Concerts for Brisbane and Sydney are sold out at this stage. Hope this helps.

Can you please tell me when Andre Rieu will be announcing his Perth tour. I and 10 of my friends have missed out on good seats in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. We are anxiously awaiting. I am sure Andre's Perth fans could fill Subiaco Oval.
I'm not sure if anyone is still checking this forum but next Sunday's 60 minutes show features a report on Andre and his music. Looks like a very interesting segment. They show the set that will be coming here and it's huge!

What a talented person. I am totally mersmerised by your music. I first heard and listened to you 10 years ago. I went to your Adelaide show last night (18th November 2008) and the music affected every cell in my body, jumping, bouncing and laughing around inside me. What a joy to know of you. The music never stops in my mind and occasionally I feel myself smiling. I look forward to seeing you show once again next year. Keep the tour going. Also your entourage are wonderfull. I can see them smiling all the time and I believe they also are having a great time.
Never to be forgotten what a great show.
