Programs
When you attend a concert, do you buy a program?
I ask this question because André mentions in the Road to New York DVD, that he normally sells programs to 10% of the tickets buyers, on average.
He laughingly points to stacks & stacks of unsold programs when he first started out thinking 80% of the ticket buyers would buy his program.
If you don't buy one, why not? I'm just curious & suddenly remember no one around me have programs in their hands either.

p.s. I must confess, I've not bought a program, probably because I'm carrying a camera & it takes 2 hands to operate it. I have no idea what is included in the program <Bill quietly tip toes out of the room hoping no one will notice>

I am waiting on my DVD more than a month, hoping it will come Today! I did not get a program either, I did not see the people selling them, I was at the wrong place, I guess! I hope my DVD is coming Today!! Kati
I have bought 4 programs already but only one did I buy from a concert event. The others I ordered from AR website. I love them, the pictures are beautiful (even though I can't read Dutch if they're only in that language) and usually the stand is in the lobby close to the hall entrance. They are great souvenirs and for sharing to get others interested in experiencing one concert. The pictures speak a thousand words.
My opinion is, people attend to more concert than just one, but the program is the same as for the previous concert. You already have one, You do not want to buy the same program again. I have to realize, that the programs are very expensive to print, because, the size and the colored pictures, that is my opinion. I think I am right. Kati
The programs, were not made forthe very Concert You attend, they do have beautiful pictures, from previos Concerts, they do not list the music they will play that night, at least, this is what I found. Kati
It is no way, You can tip toe out of the room, without notocong Your Chartreuse colors! I think, even Your Ear's color is Chartreuse! HUH? Kati
They had the New York Memories program on sale at the concert in Florida but I had ordered it through Andre's website so I did not buy one. People were buying them and the sales person simply put the concert highlight page inside of the program. I have every one that is for sale on Andre's site and I found the 2005 Christmas program on Ebay which had the highlight sheet in it and I did get that one. But if they would have a new one I would buy it in a minute. They are really beautiful. Kati is right I think. Most of us attend more than one concert and already have all the programs either from a concert or from the web site. I guess they are very expensive to print and they cannot print a different one for every concert although if they did I would buy it.
Hugs
I have bought only two programs in the past, I didn't realize til later they were both the same. But Jeannine Ann describes them well. They do have an insert inside with the scheduled numbers for that nights concert, but it does say program subject to change, but I never look at a program til later anyway so I don't know if they followed it or not.I usually carry an extra bag for cameras, books, & things I might buy from the sales tables.I don't know if I'd buy another one though, even though they are beautiful.
I bought a program in Montreal years ago. They are not at all concerts. Actually, they called it a program but I discovered it was a picture book. It was not specific to that evening. I don't know if he does any of those or not. Also, a number of years ago they were $15 at the door and I don't think too many people want to spend it on a program (if they assume it's a program for that night).
I wrote to the Help Desk and asked when they would update the orchestra page. The answer was "soon." Maybe if a few people write in it will help. There are a lot of changes.
That's a grrrreat idea. there have been so many changes to the JSO, that Andre's website truly needs to be updated with current bios.
Good idea Virginia. The only book I have with the JSO is the pop-up book and I guess that is fairly old. There are a lot of new faces and some in the book seem to be gone. Hugs
I buy a program at every single concert I attend. I wouldn't go without buying one.
There are many reasons. I like them very much, they are beautiful and of course the pictures of Andre, and JSO are wonderful
There is an excitement that goes along with buying one at a concert.
I believe that they give a feeling of "being there". If I walked in the door, went to my seat without buying anything, then I wouldn't feel quite as much a part of the festivities.
I feel also that whomever put the money up for these programs (Andre, I presume) put a lot of effort and time into these, whether it be just to purchase them from a company who makes them, or whether he actually spent the time designing them; and the rewards should be that people purchase them.
I totally understand when someone has something already, then what's the use in having another one...but I just look at things differently.
Besides, if Andre has so many programs in his warehouse, then the more we buy...the more chance we have of having new ones!
I have always gotten a program. At the
Rose Garden, they always put an insert
in that lists the songs on the program.
I love the pictures, and there have always been nice large pictures of Andre. I particularly liked one in his
2005 concert in Portland.
Just wrote the Help Desk about the orchestra update and received a message that the Help Desk is closed to email service. Is this permanent or just for now?
the email help desk was disabled/stopped back in February. The only way is to write a hand written letter. do you need an address? Here ya go:

Thanks Bill, I might have to write them, my DVD is coming more than 5 weeks now. I will wait a few more and write. Kati
Not long ago, a very limited few people had the misguided idea to send complaints to the helpdesk. It was right after that, Andre shut the helpdesk email down.
Remember when Andre allowed emails in his guestbook? Same thing. Someone was gathering the emails. Next thing you know, someone complained they were spammed, the emails are no longer published.
I'm just happy we all still have a website to visit because I love the photos and snippets of tour life we see on Andre's site. Andre, Pierre and really the entire crew work so hard to bring us Joy.
Yes, unfortunately it's always those "misguided" few people who make it difficult for the average person. When we (all) were given that fantastic chance to have a "help desk" for Andre's website, then it should have been respected as such.
So, we all lose out, and it's very unfortunate because those of us who do respect a privilege such as this, would never abuse it.
Opportunities do not come too often in this life.
The appreciation for Andre, Pierre, and everyone in the orchestra and crew will forever be in my heart. You are right Sally, ALL Andre's family, crew and orchestra work so hard to bring us so very much joy.
I hope that those who ruined this opportunity for us all, can sit back and think about what was accomplished with their actions.
This is very sad news to me.I have only used the help desk a couple of times and that was to inquire about an order.I always found them to be polite and helpful. I never once ever thought to send a complaining letter, how would we still, now, have a question answered? Only by snail mail? Too bad a few have to ruin it for the many.
You still can make Your comments, if You identify Your address and the special codes. It is OK with me. Some people just spoils it all for the rest of us. Kati
Yes we now can 'speak' with them via the website, and that's ok. As long as Andre is happy, I think we should be happy, after all it is his site and his work and business.
I never mind an opposing view, we are all entitled to how we think. As long as it is said politely I think it's fine. Andre like the rest of us requires codes and checks and balances now. I guess it is a way of the world.
Gee Julie, I don't know. I have not emailed them for a while. I never heard of them not receiving mail even when they close for the weekend. Does anyone else know anything? Hugs
