Andre Rieu for Teacher of the Year

Andre Rieu Photos & Information Sally@AndreRieuFans.com

Hello Dear Fans & Friends:

It is not just the music. It is not just the concert. It's not that we laugh or cry. It isn't that we have learned of lands near and far, languages new to us, songs, lyrics. It is all of it combined. How many new words in various languages have we learned? Is there an instrument we've not seen before Andre? What have we been shown about composers, tempo, geography? Carillons? The Andre Rieu tulip?

Andre Rieu for Teacher Of The Year!

Hi Moira:  I think you are right.  Andre's style of music allows so many more people to come to classical music.  I tell everyone it is not the 'boring' stuff they think of, but fresh, new, lively and classical all at the same time.

I have learned about other fan's country's and what is unique & beautiful about them.  That is via Andre as he is the connection for us.  I enjoy the learning.

Hi. My name is Hanlie. I am from Cape Town, South Africa.I've been a dedicated follower of Andre and his orchestra for the past 13 years. I became addicted to his music from the very first moment I heard him play. I was a pianist. My daughter, Andrea ( 8 years old) started playing the violen and piano at the age of 3. She loves it, and Andre's passion for music is a huge inspiration to her. Not long ago I was diagnosed with an incureable disease. It causes nerves to die and then the muscles are rejected by the brain. They simply disintegrate after a while. It attacked my hands first, therefore I cannot play the piano anymore. Doctors also told me that there is a 95% possibility that my daughter has it.I might end up in a wheelchair soon.Nowhere in the world is there a cure for this disease. I am in severe pain and every day is a struggle. When things become too much, I watch any one of Andre's concerts. I have a good cry, but then somehow ALWAYS find the strength to get up and face the world again. His music is the only medicine in the world that is helping me through this struggle. I don't know, if he knows, butGod is working through him to reach out to people, like me, who's spirit is broken. His larger than life personality gives me hope and makes me believe that God is watching over me and that the sun still shine, even on a broken soul...Thank you Andre.x

I will pray for you and your family & think all positive things. God is amazing to give us the power to endure.
You must be very proud of your daughter and her musical ability.  Children bring a sense of wonder to music. Their interpretations bring out the child in all of us.

Hi Hanlie! Welcome! My cousin lived in Cape Town South Africa for many years. He moved there from Cologne, Germany. Then he moved to the states. He sent us many beautiful photographs of your wonderful and beautiful country!

Thank you for sharing yourself with us. I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that we are so happy that Andre's music and concerts give you relief and strength. That is so wonderful.

I speak for myself, I think when I say the following. The Lord God IS watching over you. He knows every hair on your head. Why He allows us to go through suffering, I do not have all the answers to. But that he does allow it is evidenced by suffering people everywhere. I hope you will allow my ladies prayer group to lift you in prayer to Jesus Christ. I would love to pray for your disease. That God would heal you and make you every bit well and whole. It may sound impossible but with Him nothing is impossible. I myself, was healed of a blood disorder that I understand never reverses on its own. It is the precurser to a disease called Multiple Myeloma which is cancer of the blood. I was so worried about this situation. Especially, because like you I have a child and want to be there for my child. Every year I would go to have my blood checked to see if the over abundance of a certain protein had increased. But between one exam to the other, I asked Jesus to make my blood normal. And, he did. I wanted to share that with you to give you encouragement in the Lord. He can do anything. Nothing is impossible with Him. I hope I do not get in trouble for sharing my faith with you. I don't think I will because the people on this website are kind and tolerant of others. I would only ask you to enjoy Andre Rieu's music...while looking to God for healing. God bless you Hanlie. May the Lord take every tear from your eye, remove every pain from your body, strengthen you and restore your health. Both you and your daughter will be in my prayers and in my heart. Thank you for sharing yourself.

    I have a question regarding a JSO
    instrument. What is the instruemtn
that looks like a trumpet, but it looks like it's played on its side. It
seems to have a softer mellower sound
that seems to come out of a trumpet.
I enjoy getting a smattering of the
different languages. It makes me want
to learn more about them and the countries they represent. I enjoy the
    information on the different countries
that appear in the articles. I could

I love about Andre and the JSO.

Hi Marilyn:  I'm not certain, but I thought it looked like an F Horn:

Then again, it could be a Euphonium.

      Anyone else have an idea?

        Hi Sally,
Thanks for the link to Jupiter Music.
I am thinking it look like a cornet
(a type of trumpet), but it looks like Rene and Roger turn it on its side when they play it, where the tubing is laying horizontally, as opposed to a trumpet where the tubing lays more
vertically. I really like the sound tho.

I'm thinking it's the horn that Noel plays, which is only mentioned as horn, but from the looks of the link that Sally gave, it does look like the F-horn. To me the cornet looks more like the trumpet. Speaking of the cornet, i don't see any listed in the JSO but i imagine any of the horn players could play one. I think the cornet has a beautiful warm, mellow quality.Which reminds me, I heard a piece played which included a cornet, a trumpet and a piano. The piece was called Cheerfulness, I'm sure there's another name for it and I didn't get the composer's name, but it really was a happly little tune and an interesting combination of instruments. and while I'm on the subject of horns, has anyone ever heard Wynton Marsales(?) play the classical trumpet? He's mostly into jazz now, but his classical pieces are great. I'd like to see more of a spotlight on JSO's horn section. I have liked some of the pieces I've heard. Andre does have a talented bunch to be sure!

What a thought provoking topic this is! First of all, I think Andre shows us ,if you can dream it, you can do it! He started out with a dream, and with hard work and perseverance, he realized his dream of presenting this music in such a way that millions now know how beautiful it is.He did it "his way" and his way works! When you first hear him, you realize you must see for yourself, you must get to a concert! Once that happens you are never the same. You will meet other fans from all over the world, some face to face, but many who you'll probably never meet, but in spite of this, you become friends. You learn about the different cultures and neighborhoods where these people live, what they think, who they are, and you realize that it's a small world after all. Even though we're different, we're much alike in many ways. We're like family, many of us, who share and care, we are the fans of Andre Rieu. And the things we learn, oh my, where would you begin? I think, for me, it's the little things that get my attention. For example, why is it that suddenly I was curious about all things DUTCH? Dutch Boy paint,"The Dutch Boy icon was originally created to symbolize a superior method for creating paint products known as the "Dutch Process". The "Dutch Process" originated with two chemists in 16th century Holland and set the standard of paint quality and beauty for centuries to come".Then another fun thing I learn is that the orange carrot is a Dutch invention and what the color ORANGE means to the Dutch. Then about tulips, I learn that they originally came from Turkey, then in about the 17th century they came to Holland. these are just a very few things I found of interest, not enough room to write all the things I've learned, not only about the Dutch, but many of the fans also. The learning process is ever ongoing. As for languages, I've not conquered any, but it's fun to learn, "ja"?

Shirley, I love your words very much! I couldn't have said it any better. It truly is amazing what Andre has done for us in many ways.
It seems that everytime I listen to Andre play his violin, my mind goes into this tail-spin and my thoughts go directly to peace and romance, love, and the words just keep coming to my mind in ways of how can I describe what I am feeling. Even before this question was asked I thought about it, and I would look for descriptions.

As much as I have loved Classical music over the years, waltz music, and the variety that Andre plays, I now have learned to respect and admire this music in ways I would never have dreamed of before. I've explored new instruments, incredibly talented, young sopranos, and the Tenors. All the songs and their lyrics, composers and I enjoy and respect the meanings of new songs, which I would never have even learned of previously. It's been a wealth of information learning their meanings.
I've learned of a country, Holland, which I enjoyed very much previously,
but never the way that I do now. I've explored many books and magazines
that have articles and history and even the religions of this country.
I learned of the waterways and what the intelligence of Holland has done to turn all this water into a plus for them. It's absolutely amazing what they have done with the windmills and the canals. The beautiful flowers and the peace of this beauty is breathtaking.

Even though I respected people previously, I've grown to respect people even more, Why? Because I see the affect that Andre has ON people and because I see the respect Andre has FOR people.

I've become more respectful of people's beliefs and desires. It seems that Andre doesn't have a bad word to say about anyone. I'm sure he has his moments like everyone on planet earth, however, he doesn't show it on average, and I truly respect that. He lets people be themselves to the best of their abilities. All that I see from Andre is kindness and love, romance and respect, and of course, beautiful music.

I've learned to respect foreign language skills. Andre's amazing in his knowledge...makes me wish that I had actually been able to go back to school and learn those languages. I'm trying now, but it takes time, and, as yet, I haven't learned the lesson of "lack of time", yet...where Andre gets the time to be such an incredible "teacher" is special.

And one of the most important things that I have learned is...you can
actually have friends you have never met before. Imagine knowing someone from across the world or on the other side of the country, you never would have "met" otherwise. I've met some great people from this website, I think that's quite special in itself.

Andre has a special way of bringing people together in harmony. The smiles and laughter, humor and incredible violin music...Yes,
Teacher Of The Year, Andre deserves in the highest degree!

dear friends, I have so enjoyed the comments of friends on this post, but will add my own as well. Not only has Andre & his music given me a window to
peruse but he has given me back a joy which had very much gone to sleep. His message of love & caring shows through all he does. Not only the music, but he
seems to call for all of us to be more
tolerant of our neighbors, who is everyone who lives on this planet & he
manages to get the message across without being preachy for lack of a better word. The friends I have made on this site are so precious & unique
that I am blown away. Peace, love & understanding will do so much to bring
lasting peace to the world. I don't know if that was his intention, but it sure is one of the plusses. Love to all

    Hi Everyone,
I'm adding my thoughts to all of this as I'm working. To me Andre brings excitement to classical music. I personally think it's more HIM than the music simply because what he plays have been played before for many years of old. But, Andre endows his music with vibrant spirit from his soul and heart. I have listened to other well known artists and no one has the affect on me that Andre has as an artist and human being. I learn so much from watching him and his performers especially his singers because I'm a soloist too. I train in technique so I watch for that in his singers and not one I have seen is a question mark in any way or decree. I don't dare compare up against them but I do my absolute best. I learn also from them.

Yes, Sally is right Andre is a teacher and what better way to teach. I watch his productions closely and when going to a concert try to hang around a little bit to watch the production staff take down. It's always exciting to watch them, everything with Andre is a learning experience and touches us in so many ways but universally in the heart. This is our unique commonality of being an Andre Rieu fan. It's about heart and we all gather there with him because music is of the heart, what Andre does is serves us with his infectious joy, beautiful smile, handsome looks and his romantic soul and spirit. He takes romance in us to a higher level than just the profane. He has played two songs that I never really liked that much ever. When Andre plays those two pieces, they are the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard. He has literally transcended them in my heart for listening pleasure. He enlivens and gives new life and meaning in his music, it goes deeper than just the ears. He sparks joy in us, he helps us to forget our stresses for the day or week and awakens within us a youthful spirit. All of this through his music and his warmth for his fans. What artist do we know opens themselves so much to their fans the way Andre does and welcomes his fans for the most part into his life keeping us informed of his whereabouts or the next project? I would dare say this is compassionate marketing and with Andre it's all intertwine with his naturally genuine humanitarian spirit.

    Sally you're the greatest!

eventually am able to catch up in what is written here. If I miss something

So, if I don't comment sometimes, that's the reason. Someday I hope that things will change and I will have the time to do the things that are important to me, such as "life".

Hanlie, welcome! I read your post and wish for you to know that my thoughts
and prayers are with you. Sometimes we are given situations in our lives
that truly seems unbearable, and we ask why? I guess there is a reason, but I do not know what it is, of course. All I know is that you seem to be a person who has an amazing ability to lean towards the positive. My heart goes out to you and your loved ones and always remember that there are friends in the world who wish you the very best and send you positive wishes for a complete recovery. We never know what's in store for us in life, we must take it a step at a time and do our very best with whatever we are dealt with. You seem to have so much understanding and love in your heart. Your "strength to get up and face the world again" shows your special spark of life that is "you".
It's wonderful that you find that Andre's music does so much for you, his music does a lot for many people and that's quite a special thing in itself. How many times do I listen to his music and feel peace and love in a world that is a struggle at best.
Take care everyone and my very best to all.

    Hi!
As I was perusing through the site and saw this one, I'd like to add my thoughts about Andre being Teacher of the Year. He truly is a teacher in my eyes whether he realizes or not. I'd like to think there is a deeper Andre Rieu than what the world sees, that he also works from a deeper inner motivation. A person who can give so much of himself to his audience, orchestra and staff is usually motivated from a deeper understanding of life and being as to what he wants to achieve. I find that this website allows fans to express that part of themselves also if they care to. It shows me that Andre attracts a conglomerate of wonderful fans throughout the world and possibly spiritual paths or none, yet through his concerts he brings us all together as one for one purpose. To uplift us with his music, bring joy into our lives and an abundance of happiness that we carry home with us, in short we all come together for harmony and Andre knows about harmony. He truly brings out the true quality of music in and of itself.

I like to watch very closely the performers and learn from them their skill and technique. They are seasoned performers so it's always good to learn from the best. I love watching Andre's camaraderie and warmth with the audience or his romanticism that he displays and seeing how the audience not only responds to it but expects it. Yes, it is the music but more it is Andre and how he performs the music, gives to the music so that he can give to us. By far he is the artist of my heart and that's it precisely. Andre is all heart and waltzes as he has mentioned coincides with the rhythm of the heart beat of 3/4 time.

So, there he is beating out this 3/4 time of music from his heart to ours therefore connecting with each of us in the heart through his music. His smile and his music go hand in hand and the world wants more of it.

Music is healing and uplifting and no matter what our suffering may be either physical or emotional and/or depression, if we love music and turn to that and Andre's waltzes we feel uplifted and for the moment we look and feel that life is beautiful.
