Andre Rieu Dinner Review

Join Us For Our Rieu Review Dinner Party!

This was for our group from Richmond, VA. who attended the concert in Norfolk.  Twelve of our original group of fourteen were able to attend.  We watched the first part of New York Memories, ate dinner in our laps on trays covered with pictures of Andre and JSO members and then watched most of the concert at Schonbrunn.  It was a fun evening and I have attached a few pictures. The photo above is of our group.  I am seated in the blue shirt and my wife, Sandy is standing behind me.

Four of us have tickets to see Andre in December in Toronto (Friday concert)  We will stay at the event hotel and would love to meet any of you who might be there also.

    I was Andre, of course!

Bruce, on those name tags you made 3 errors. Natalie is really Stephanie,
Bela is Tom (I think)and Margarit is really Tanya.

Here we are watching a scene from Vienna on the TV.
Note the Violin milk glass on top with a cutout of Andre looking at it.

We had a great time and we are so looking forward to Toronto. Some of you who look closely at the name tags will spot a mistake. I put the wrong picture on Bela.

Well, it looked like such fun, who could say anything?

Those name tags were a good idea.  Such creativity.

Oh...sorry..I had a quick question. Is the vase bought from Andre's boutiqe? thanks...

No, the vase we had for a long time. My wife, Sandy, loves to collect milk glass. It did make a great centerpiece.

Very nice story!!! But I miss the names. Who are you in the blue shirt? And who belong to the Richmond fan group? Maybe it is clear for Americans, but I am a foreigner from Holland.
    Regards, Ineke.

My name is Bruce Hague and I am the host. Sandy, my wife, is standing behind me. Some of you may notice that there are fourteen of us and I said twelve were able to attend. The other two were unable to make the concert in Norfolk, Virginia, but we invited them to be our bartender and barmaid.

What a fun time you all had. What a great group. Were you all friends before or how did you meet? Who did the creative place mats & name tags? Did you enjoy the concert? Sorry about the twenty questions, but thank you for sharing this with us.

We did indeed enjoy the concdert, but I felt the crowd in Norfolf was not very responsive until the very end when someone started a conga line. It was a polite audience, but somewhat older than his european audiences.

All of us have been friends for many years, but I am the Rieu nut who has introduced Andre to the rest. I have given most of them DVD's (for very special reasons) and they have all responded to the point that they wanted to go to the concert in Norflok.
One couple is going with us to Toronto and others would like to go, but the timing was not right.

My wife, Sandy, is the creative one. She likes Andre, but thinks I am a nut case. At any rate, once the party was on, she came up with all the decoration ideas.

Hi Bruce! Didn't I see your name somewhere on the blog before? So glad you sent us these photos. You must have had a wonderful time. Isn't it fun when you get together like this!! The trays and name tags are a wonderful idea and I love that violin vase. To date all I have is a clock in the shape of a violin. Found it in a catalog.
So glad some of you are going to Toronto. So many fans will be there. I am hoping there will be some kind of fan dinner (been checking with various people) so that all of us can get together. I think most of the fans are staying at the Ren. Hotel so I am sure we will see you. Keep checking back with us in the event we can get a fan dinner worked out. Thanks again
    Hugs

Thanks for the article, photos & story. I'm sure Andre will smile when he sees the trays & guest cards.

I have a suspicion your creativity will translate into opening up the minds of all the rest of us, who may come up with some equally creative ideas.

    You're one of a kind!

Thanks for your kind comments, but the creative mind responsible for the name tags and place mats belongs to Sandy. The party was my idea, but she came up with all of the decorations.

Thank you Bruce and Sandy for the wonderful dinner review! It was very enjoyable, I loved the trays! The violin vase was a unique item. There are probably many, including me , who have items made of violins now, who never would have thought of it before Andre.
Isn't it nice when so many people can get together and enjoy a common interest? Andre has "brought" so many together who have become friends. It's great to share with so many of the same interests.
