      Dear Sally

Thanks a lot for your mail, i sure appreciate it.
Being musician ( violin and organ ) and composer myself for decades i can not tell you, how much Andre Rieu oftenly helped me with my work.
Whenever i got stuck i started thinking how would he have done it, and there you go.
Andre Rieu is for sure one of the most outstanding musicians of this century, and as Personality he is one of a kind.
I am very very sad that i can not come to his show on July 14th, when he appears here in Vienna, due to job-related obligations.
Hopefully it'll work next time, till than I have to listen to his CD's and DVD's

Stay in touch, best gretings from Vienna Austria

      Best regards

      Derek van Deerstet

        Hello Derek:

So good to hear from you.  How wonderful you are a musician and composer.  I appreciate our artists and their craft.  I listened to your samples of Classical & Contemporary Music and enjoyed them!

A group of us are saving for a trip to Vienna (and other places in Europe) in 2009.  Should we make it, it would be nice to meet with you and yours.

        Happiness Always,

One time a woman called telling us how terrible our products were, and would not listen when we said, we don't host your site, it's on "other name". She insisted we did host it. I popped an email to her, showing where it was hosted, then she said.. "See, you let them take over my website". Whatta Nut.
Next was a caller who yelled at another woman because "I found your number on my husband's cell phone, and I knew a woman would answer. How long have you been seeing my husband you tramp". Poor Rachel tried to tell her, this was a business and her husband does business with us. The caller would not hear of it and was certain she had 'caught' her husband. Soooo....

I brought a can of Mixed Nuts with a big Red Ribbon wrapped around it to work. On top was a plastic trophy. It became our ""Nutty Call of the Day Award"".

Happy July to everyone! I wish Canada a happy Canada Day, Congratulations!

This is a great month for all of us in America too, as we celebrate our Independance Day. I wish you all a wonderful 4th and a very safe and beautiful fireworks display.
We have the largest display of fireworks west of the Mississippi here in Vancouver, Washington...or so it's always been announced as such. It's quite an event here as there are approximately 35,000+ people that gather at the Fort to celebrate and watch an incredible display which lasts approximately 45 minutes. The news stations, of course, broadcast this event for those who cannot or otherwise do not wish to be there. As they televise it, they play all the patriotic-type songs, many old songs and songs that really make you feel good.

To all of you who visit this site from all over the world...WELCOME...it's very exciting seeing where you all are from and which countries are visiting us. We are a very large group of very nice people and enjoy the friendships and sharing of photos, events, thoughts, feelings, stories of concerts and dinner get-togethers and life events that are a part of life itself.
Our common bond is Andre Rieu and the JSO their beautiful music which they share with the world, and make soooo many people happy!
Please join us everyone. Stop and say "hello" while you are here, share your stories and thoughts...
It's fun! Take care everyone. Have a great day.

Shirley - Shalom and amen! Couldn't agree more! If only there wasn't any need to have secured and guarded borders between countries who have always been loving neighbors....if only hatred could somehow be eradicated throughout the Muslim and Shihite worlds. The entire world! But our days are too filled with "if only" and not nearly enough "I forgive"! In the words of one of my all-time favorite songs, "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me". I cry like a baby every time I hear this song sung anywhere, any time! If only...but somewhere along the way too many people got caught up in the madness...the milk of human kindness has somehow become curdled. Thank God for music - if we really listen, we can hear love and humanity speak from instruments and voices raised in joy and happiness. Laughter, melody and hatred simply don't go together -

I especially enjoyed watching the portion of Carla Maffioletti and her mother who visited the concert in Chicago (I think). Those two are ADORABLE. Carla is such a cute little thing.

I hope one day Andre will make a documentary of the orchestra and talk with each one, but this may be as close as it gets. These people feel like family and I want to get to know them better.

The paddle bought a smile to me as I remembered why I had kept it. When our daughter was about 5 or 6 I had used it to swipe her bottom a couple of times, just to get my point across.(I'd probably be accused of child abuse in these times). But I didn't hit that hard and it was only a couple of times because one day I couldn't find it. I looked everywhere but of course NO ONE knew where it was!( I had kept it on top of the refrigerator). One day as I was cleaning my daughter's room, I found it, under her bed. Happy Independence Day to my American friends.

I've just returned home from a Tony Bennett concert.
What a great concert!! The man, a living legend, will be 82 in August and he hasn't lost it. He's got power when he needs it, but can sing quietly as well. He even sang one song without a microphone, and his voice filled the auditorium. He even danced a little.

His quartet (piano, guitar, upright bass and drums) are competent musicians, and their many solos were well received.

The concert, without a break lasted an hour and three quarters.

Sounds like a great time Al. I saw Tony on a talk show years ago, and his 3 daughters (i think it was three) were there as well. They were asked what kind of a Dad he was. One girl relayed the story of when she was 17 and broke up with her first boyfriend. Dad had said if you ever need me and I'm not there, I'm just a call away. So she called him. He was on stage. After he finished his song, he told the crowd he would be right back. And he took the call. (off stage)
She said all the kids of performers had been told "just call" but they all thought it wasn't meant. She knew from then on, her dad meant it.
Tony said, "Hey, my little girl was crying and wanted her Daddy, how could I said no"?
I would guess no one minded waiting 5 minutes for Daddy & Daughter.

Sincere and still soaring at 80, Bennett is the real thing

      TONY BENNETT

      When: Tuesday night

      Where: Jubilee Auditorium
TONY BENNETT, THE ORIGINAL KING OF QUEENS: Singer Tony Bennett entertained a sold-out crowd Tuesday night at Edmonton's Jubilee Auditorium.
      - - -
EDMONTON - There are entertainers, and artists, and then there are great communicators.

Just a month short of his 81st birthday Tony Bennett manages to be all three, and to make it all feel effortless. That's how it was when this epitome of cool, the "singer's singer," and (as my guest put it), "one sexy dude" showed up to sing for a mature sold-old house at the Jubilee Auditorium Tuesday.

95 rapturous minutes, 30 gripping tunes, and five standing ovations later most of the audience knew they had witnessed one of the greatest interpreters of popular song ever, and I suspect more than a few were awestruck -- as I was -- by how good the man sounds at 80.

Okay, he's not quite as smooth as silk as he was last time around in the early 1990s, but Bennett sang enough off-mike to show he's still got it.

Of course, it's not just the vocal power that matters. The singer's history is full of stories about how he would study the lyrics of a song in order to shape his own delivery. After six decades in music, the result is something all singers aim for but few ever reach, something intangible. Maybe it sounds corny, but it's as if he really is singing every phrase for the first time, in some magical moment suspended in time, in a musical conversation that's coming straight to you. If anything, age adds something to the man's depth of wisdom, to his eternally sunny disposition. He's the real thing.

Never one to hog the spotlight, Bennett was proud to feature frequent solos from "the boys," his excellent quartet, pianist Bruce Barth, guitarist Gary Sargent, bassist Paul Langosch and drummer Harold Jones, so handy on the brushes. All of them worked the grooves perfectly in-the-pocket for a gentle swing, and even more sparely to shape ballad melodies out of the darkness that enveloped them.

The program was a tour of great songs from "a golden era" as Bennett put it, introducing Dorothy Fields' I'm Old Fashioned. It touched more than once Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Kurt Weill, and the genius poets of Tin Pan Alley with nods to Hank Williams and Ray Noble.

Everyone there had their own favourites but to these ears the first stunning highlight was Mr. Lucky, followed minutes later by a short take on Williams' Cold Cold Heart. Speak Low started with a whisper, before a very speedy I Got Rhythm, and a reprise of his recent double-Grammy Award winning cover of For Once In My Life, complete with an anecdote of how he first heard the tune before Stevie Wonder made it a hit.

Bennett got a few laughs when he dedicated The Good Life -- essentially about enjoying those small

And when he set the mike down to deliver Fly Me To The Moon, I'm guessing the whole silent room was able to pick out the words.

Three numbers will be forever burned into this memory. If I Ruled The World made me want to vote for Bennett; The Best Is Yet To Come for the way it seemed to define the man -- who just got married again for the third time June 21; and Stella By Starlight. I've been listening to his 1962 session of that number for years and it soared just the same way live. Thanks Tony, for making my life complete.

Also caught some of the Washington program, but the best one of all was the NYC fireworks and music at the Waterclub. Great fireworks! We didn't go to our annual Freedom Fest at the park here, but we could see the fireworks from our front window.
I did hear on the radio this morning the best version of the Star Spangled Banner by the Cinncinati Pops. Bought tears to my eyes. I have to give kudos to Tiger Woods for hosting a golf tournament honoring the US Armed Forces, also as an honor to his father who was a Green Beret.

But Bostonians are a hardy lot - nothing deters them from a 4th of July Esplanade concert!! But you'd have never caught me risking my violin playing in a soaker like that! And what sour grapes that last statement is!! I haven't been able (thanks to arthritis)to play with or without rain for the last 20 years! Oh well.

I go to Toronto in October for a miniature show. Inge

Happy 4th to everyone! I'm late and really late checking in from last month but today(while quite at work)I had the time to check through the blog. I just want to say the Walzertraum CD/DVD was mentioned and I have both. The cd has more music on it and some different from the DVD but both are magnificent to hear and see. I ordered it from Amazon.com and it came from Brazil. AR's website does offer it at least now from the last time I looked.

For those off to Maastricht, I envy you but one day I'll get there and hopefully all of us together so we can really show what Love Around the World is really all about, this is a great site. To Lorraine: the beautiful young lady you saw in the picture Jeanine showed of our dinner from the Reading concert is a young friend of the other young lady who is from Cape Verde. Gabriella is Hispanic although I don't know exactly what country she is from and both girls attend the same high school. They were really fun to be with and Gabriella loves classical music.
Jeanine, I still think about our wonderful dinner and experience it was for me and the crew, you have no idea of the magnitude that experience was for them. They're waiting for next year. But, hopefully the fun will continue in Canada.

    God Bless to all!

Thank you Shirley. The news was not good I am sorry to say. Cotton's creatine level was up a point instead of dropping. It went from 2.5 to 3.5. It had dropped the first two weeks. Her white cell also dropped to just about off the chart. She has been taking an antibiotic so the vet is stopping that in case it is interfering with the kidney medicine but since it didn't interfere the first two weeks I doubt if that is it. It is just kidney failure and nothing can be done for that so WE NEED PRAYERS FOR COTTON. Thanks so much my friends. Guess I need the prayers too because I am a mess.

We are also animal lovers and Mirusia grew up with Siamese cats.

This is Sasha, we had to say goodbye to his mother last year, she was 13 years old. It is very sad, they are such loyal friends and enrich your life with so much unconditional love. Sasha still has a brother Joey, they are inseparable and missing Mirusia at the moment. We wish you and Cotton the very best and hope she doesn't need to suffer too much. Take care, love from Henriette.

We, too, have Siamese and love them dearly. Is Sasha a blue point? Do yours "talk" all the time? Ours do, every moment of the day and about everything and nothing at all, but that's what makes them such fun and funny pets. Sometimes they seem so very "human", don't they?

        Sincerely - Katie McCourt

Dear katie, Would love to see a photo of your Siamese cats. Sasha is a blue point and Joey is a seal point. Indeed they talk all the time, to us and to eachother. But a strange thing is, Sasha changes his voice when he talks to Mirusia, this is so amazing, we have never seen this before and we have had several Siamese. They are incredible smart, yes like you said, very human. We love our cats, hard to imagine life without them. Our cats are indoor cats and very spoiled. Greetings from downunder to you Katie.

Hello, Henriette - So very nice to hear back from you and thank you for your response. I sort of thought from his photo that Sasha was a blue point - and what gorgeous markings he has. It's pretty apparent that he knows it, too. Currently, I have no useable photos of our brats - everything I have was taken with an old style camera and, unless I make slides of those photos they don't translate to cds for the computer. Our Gizmo walks all over the house mumbling to himself and his voice changes as he runs onto things of particular interest to his strange little pussy cat mind - he'll warble up and down the scale like he was singing opera. His brother, Tribble, will hold conversations with my husband and me - he speaks and we answer in what passes for our version of "catspeak" and he'll answer back. And so it will go on for a half hour or better. We've no idea what we're saying but it apparently passes muster with him!! You're right, they are incredibly smart - I suspect sometimes they're smarter than we are...which is a rather scary thought! And, like you, we can't imagine life without them. They are all five indoor cats, although every time we open our front door Gizmo will make a 50 yard dash out if he can pull it off. We have to give chase and he thinks this is great sport!! If we run out of steam he'll sit down and wait for us to catch up before he scampers on ahead. I believe I'm getting too old for this!
Besides Gizmo and Tribble we also have Bonkers (my baby), Isaac and Mickey. I'd never believe that twenty little soft paws could sound so much like a herd of buffalo running through the house if I hadn't heard it for myself.
They all love to chase each other (and us) and pounce if anyone slows down. It's constant mayhem at our house! The herd is terribly spoiled, too, but we seldom admit that it's our fault or that we are terminally "cat-owned"!!

of what a creatinine level does to both animals & people, & it is very sneaky. I was lucky in having a doc who was on top of things so my level is at its' lowest in over a year but I still have be vigilant, otherwise I would be facing bi-weekly dialysis, but
managed to get it under control. Hopefully the condition will reverse
itself, but if not, you will still have many memories of Cotton. I stil
recal all 4 cats that were mine from the age of five. First was Bill, mis-
named as she had her kittens in the middle of my bed!! Then Puree, a part persian who didn't meow, she talked with little purrs, then Fluffy, who got
    into anti-freeze, which induced kidney
failure. The last was Spunky, who I had for 16 years. Brought him from B.C., but he didn't make the move at all well, so I had to have him put down & it just about broke my heart.

Marianne thank you for the story of your 4 friends. That is amazing that you remembered your first cat at age 5. I am so glad you have these memories and I will too if something happens to Cotton. I like the story about "Bill". We had a similar story about our "Honi" who we thought was a male when we got her and then when we took "him" to the vet for neutering the vet called and said do you know you have a female? They had spayed her anyway but it was so funny at the time. She will be 17 in December. She is a real sweetie too. You take care of yourself and thanks.

Your story about Honi reminded me of when my husband and I took one of ours in to be spayed and the vet said he'd be glad to do the job but he didn't believe "He would like it much?" Turns out "Jennifer" was a male! Anyway, give Cotton a hug and pat for me.
