Hi, just wanted to be first this month.LOL
Kati you beat me. I am second! Happy August everyone. Cotton goes for her blood best this morning. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks and hugs.
Hi there: Cotton looked good today. Love & Hugs Aud
Hey there Aud - this lady is my SIS - Audrey, Aud for short. Hugs to her.
(I know myself and a bunch of others, just breathed a sigh of relief!)
Hello Aud. Welcome to AndreRieuFans.com and the BLOG. If you are Jeanine Ann's sister, then we LOVE you because we all LOVE her!
(you're very welcome here)
Yes I am Jeanine Ann's sister and very proud to be. She is a wonderful person and I love her dearly. I am new here but love to watch all my DVD's of Andre on my TV. Cannot go to the concerts because of hearing problems so I enjoy the concerts from my home. What a wonderful entertainer and person. Take care and thanks for the welcome. Love & hugs. Aud
sorry it is Kate!
Kati, you are always number 1 ! (and I think everyone should be)
Jeanine Ann, I will keep Cotton in my prayers.
I do know that, Sally, I just did not write it down yet. Kati
FROM OVATION ALERTS:
Also Andre Rieu fans will not be disappointed with our ANDRE RIEU WEEK.
Throughout the week we will be screening a 6 part documentary series Andre Rieu: On His Way to New York. Featuring some exciting stories about the real life that goes on behind the scenes.
Plus we will show an Andre Rieu concert every night of the week.
Monday 17 to Saturday 22 September
I can hardly believe July is gone already! Cotton prayers, coming up.
Shirley and everyone - your prayers are being answered! Cotton got a good report today thank God! Her creatine level, although not normal, went down from 3.5 to 2.9 and her white cells are up to 7.7 from just about down off the scale and she gained one full pound up to 12.10. We were so happy. I know this is a temporary thing but things are looking up for now. I know the last time she had her tests we were so down that a snake could not crawl under us but today was a lot better. THANK YOU to all who are praying for her. Love you all and so does Cotton. Talk later. Hugs
Thanks be to God who loves us all.
I am so happy for Cotton and her Mommy & Daddy. Thanks to God for this added time with his special creature.
One of the above questions intriqued me, "has Andre inspired you to learn more about music"? My answer would have to be yes, in certain areas. Now I freely admit there is much I don't know & probably never will, especially in technical terms. I only know what I like and I like a lot of different styles of music. But for some reason the classical type always held a special interest for me, not all, but as my favorite, Leonard Bernstein, used to say "just because it's classical.does not mean it's good". And I've found there is much that is boring, irritating to the ears, just as with any other type of music. Who said earlier "good music is in the ear of the beholder"? That is so true. I've always loved the great symphony sound, but the piano was my instrument of choice, that's because of Mozart I think. But there is even some of Mozart's music I don't care for.shh! But I think Andre turned my attention more to the beauty of the violin. It had not really been a favorite of mine before, and since Lorraine's suggestion of the video, The Art Of The Violin,I more clearly understand it's beauty and sound. It can cry, it can sing, it can sigh, with such beauty it can take your breath away. I can more understand Andre's love of that instrument. And I can appreciate the kind of music Andre brings to us. It's music everyone loves. I think we owe a lot of the credit to Marjorie's parents, whose collection of music must have really inspired Andre to do the thing he does. Just think, he could well be playing Paganini & cooking pizza if it hadn't been for those old records! I'm sure he could play Paganini just fine and even cook a very good pizza, but I'll bet the whole world would not know about him. I love the music he chooses and the way he and his JSO present it & I've heard I'm not the only one!
Nice words Shirley.
Shirley, I couldn't agree more, I look at the violin now with so much interest. As the bow moves so smoothly over the strings and the placement of Andre's elegant fingers, the sound he produces literally takes my breath away. I have never felt this passionate about a musician. The feeling I get in my heart is in-describeable, I feel sure it will explode. Lovely words in your entry. Hugs from Les xxxxx
Amen to that Shirley. The latter part of your post reminds me of the Reading concert (I really don't need a reminder) where a couple were waltzing and then stopped in front of the stage and held up a note for Andre. I was trying to read it but could not see it right but I am assuming that they wanted a song played for a special occasion, probably anniversary. But they did this 4 times throughout the evening and each time Andre just nodded and then on the fourth time during the encores he just stood there and clearly looked irritated. I am sure he would like to oblige but if he did, that is all he would get done. But I often wonder if people realize that he would get nothing done but play birthday and anniversary songs for people. Just an observation that you reminded me of Shirley. But another thing he did do is when a lady shouted "Andre we love you" he stopped what he was doing (he was not playing but was facing the JSO)and turned around and smiled and threw a big kiss to the audience. I thought that was nice
I noticed it too, He does not fill in the askings, He always do have a set program He does not follow orders, He has His encores after the Radetzky March , it is all encore! Lately, He has His finishing music, like the Lullaby. No way, anybody could follow, all what the Audience would ask. The Concert, would never end! Kati
I love the interaction with the audience if it is a natural thing. Remember a concert he had in Iowa, he had a video on his web site at one time, of a lady sitting in the front row, working on a quilt? He could hardly get over it, he had a lot of fun with her and her quilt making. I loved that one. And I like the one on Martine's site with Andre doing a rap song. That was so cute.Have you seen that one yet? oh & BTW, so happy to hear the news about Cotten.
Last year in Portland, some lady ran down to the front of the stage, right at the begining of the concert and just stood there staring at André. He played a number, and thought she would go to her seat. She didn't. She stood there staring. Finally he asked her to sit down. She just stood there and stared. The audiance laughed, but I think most of us were annoyed. She was in the way and bothering Maestro.
André cool as ever says "Someone get me a chair". Teun hands André his chair, which André then hands to the woman as he says... "Here SIT DOWN, now you are in the first row". The woman sat there until the first half of the concert was finished, then they took the chair away.
André handled it well. We all got a laugh (at the poor love struck woman) and they managed to get her out of the way.
I love the rap song so much!
dear friends, my introduction to Andre
Rieu, took place during a pledge drive from KSPS, Spokane Wn. I had an extra tv in the bedroom & I was looking for something to watch, while I read bit bit before bed. It was Live in Tuscany &
it just blew me away!! I had always enjoyed lit classical, operetta & the like, but during the years of my husband Don's illnes, the music came to a complete standstill. I attended my 1st concert in Calgary Dec 8th/05, 2nd
Oct 25th/06 & upcoming Edmonton Oct 13th/07. I also have numerous cds & dvds
& wish list for a bunch more. The music is back in my heart, & I no longer have to listen to the sounds of silence. Had a nice note from Wilma, of Oz, so will write her back shortly with some of the
interesting stuff from around my area. We are 45 miles from Dinosauer park, world heritge site & they are still digging up new dino fossils. I am also reading a book called From Lucy to Language, which is the fossil history of man. We are really a varied mix of
peoples & cultures. During my 10 years in the local workforce, I've met folks
from all countries of Africa except Tunisia & Libya. There are a huge variation of tribes & cultures, plus many people from a lot of Asian countrys
Disaster strikes in Minniapolis/St Paul
with the horrendous bridge collapse. It will take a while to determine the cause, but it is not very far from a major eathquake zone in New Madrid which is also along the mighty Mississ-ippi
Many injuries, but only about six people have been declared dead. Not terrorism, but it is still a mess!! What
ever the cause. Am reading the final Harry Potter. I'm about half-way thru &
it is a very good story. It's supposed to be a kids book but there are a lot of
nuances that only an adult would get. I'm glad Cotton is doing better. Not cured but at least getting a bit better.
No news as yet of Alice that is more up to date than what I posted a while back
Hope the A.R. guestbook opens up in the next two weeks but if not until Sept, the folks have earned a a good break!!
Hope everyone is fine, love Marianne
Marianne, you said that the music came to a complete standstill when your husband was ill. It took me about 4 years after my husband passed away for any music to touch my heart again, and it was Andre's music that did.
I've loved music all of my life, all kinds, however it had to mean something...not just words or something that just rhymes. Classical(light), easy listening, Elvis, Neil Diamond, Yanni, everything in between and much more...they all meant a lot to me. It was such a big part of me as far back as I could remember, even though I cannot play a note for anything.
And then, I couldn't listen to any of it. What was I going to do if I couldn't listen to music? I loved it so much. So I lived life and forgot the music as best I could, for a while.
Music was still in my mind as it had been all my life, and I missed it, but every time I listened I became sad because I missed my husband.
One night I was sitting with my mom watching tv when I heard "Live In Dublin" my first Andre PBS concert and from that moment on I forgot all about not being able to listen to music. I was instantly in love with Andre's music, showmanship, his looks and choices in song selection, his incredible expressions, his wonderful orchestra.
Beautiful violin music by a maestro who played like no one I'd ever heard. He has a life to his music that I cannot find in anyone elses music. There was a void in my life without music and then it was full again.
Thanks for listening, I just wanted to share what Andre and his music has meant to me since I first heard him.
A beautiful story that describes so well the effect of André and his music and why he means so much to so many.
Do you remember the song "The Party's Over"? Well I wrote a probably silly little poem based on that melody:
The Concerts Over
The concerts' over
the stage light flicker and dim,
he played and played through the night
it all was so right
just being with him.
Now you must wake up,
all dreams must end -
take off your makeup,
the concerts over, it's all over
my friend.
The concerts' over
a rosebud lies on the floor,
your cries of play just one more
he's hearing no more
as he walks through the door.
But as he leaves us,
our love we send -
it must not grieve us
For we will see him -
yes, we will see him again.
Hugs
Jeanine Ann, I don't think that's a "silly little poem" at all! I think that's fantastic! Maybe you should be a songwriter.
Hi Everyone: Currently the network is updating (part of my server upgrade, site upgrade, techies upgrading what I don't know about/how) and well... upgrading! So if the main site is down, it should pop back up before long. And if it is up, and then down.. that's just Techies working away. \\ webmommie..at work and work and work and work...
Well, folks--I found out this morning that Andre WILL NOT be coming to Cleveland in May of 2008, so I'll have to "make do" w/the CD/DVD "combo" of "NYC Memories" that I'll be getting as a "thank you" gift for my 2007-2008 pledge. I'll be looking at other cities in 2008 IF they're CLOSE ENOUGH to Cleveland or Canton, Ohio or the expense of getting there doesn't cost TOO MUCH!!! Oh, well!!! He was SO MUCH FUN last May. I can't REALLY complain b-cause, God willing, I'm spending TWO WEEKS in Las Vegas in October, and along there SOMEWHERE (?!!!!,) I'll turn 56, lol!!!! Take care, all of you!!!! Ellen
Ellen, Las Vegas is not that far from Portland, Seattle, Vancouver...where André will be in October. You might think about that and if you decide to go...let me know. There is a small group of us going to those concerts.
Hello Everyone. Just curious. I am one of those going to Portland. Is there going to be a fan get-together before the concert? Cheers.
Hello Marilyn: Yes there is. A small but happy group.
I will email you as we setup the plans.

A very happy group which I cannot wait to see and enjoy again, and of course, meeting new people whom I've never met!
I will enjoy meeting you Marilyn.
Hi Ellen, Are you sure about the Cleveland concert? Why would they take a pledge and offer Andre's CD/DVD if they were not going to take pledges for a concert. I sure hope you are wrong for your sake. If you can come to Pa. maybe there will be a Pittsburgh concert or you could come across the state to Reading. Take care and let us know. Hugs
Hi!! The word I received was from a staff member from WVIZ (the Cleveland PBS station,) so it IS official that Andre IS NOT coming to Cleveland in May of 2008!! I'll keep Pittsburgh or Reading in mind. Pittsburgh is really close to where I live in Canton, Ohio!!! So, thanks for the info. Hugs!!! Ellen
I will keep my fingers crossed that he does return, if not next year, then the year after that.
Andre skipped Dallas last year, but we hear he will return in 2008 !
Sally, had a good laugh about your story and the lady in the first row, haaaaaaa. When I went to the concert in May, there was an old lady sitting on the side, as we were in the first row totally on the right side (not a good seat because you see everything diagonal) the lady was with a security guard a girl and she helped her walking in front, when André marched in with his 75 trombones and the JSO. As soon as he was finished, the lady gave André with the help of the security guard a bouquet of flowers and André said to her: " But Mme, we just started, we are not finished! Everybody laughed, the old lady was not amused, she turned around and left, I think she could not stay because of frail health and she wanted to give him her flowers and he made fun of her, that was embarrassing, but soon forgotten.
Well, Jeannine Anne, I am so glad to read that Cotton is better, I will continue to put her in my prayers.
Marianne, I finished Harry Potter, good book cannot wait to see the next film, have just seen the 5th , I am a child, too, when it comes to Harry and the Lord of the rings.
Oh Inge, that is a sad story. I wish someone would have told André in advance, so he would have known.
(there are signs on most floors saying stay back until the encores). I am certain he would have given her a minute and smile.
Hi all,
Here is a link to a german fansite with some very nice video's

Enjoy
Hans
*Hi Hans, Yes Peggy has a very nice site. She & I exchanged links to our sites. I enjoy looking at her site to see all that she has up. A very nice site in Germany!
Webmaster Sally
Hi everyone
A great venue for Andre in Australia would be the superdome in Sydney and I will take some snaps of this when I am next there. Am looking forward to seeing Andre on T.V here in Australia when he comes next month for his promotional visit. Can't wait!
André recently did an interview saying he would appear there! So, it's in the works and he will be near you soon.
Dear friends. Have only a couple of pages to finish the last Harry Potter book. I have enjoyed all seven of the novels, & won't tell the ending so as not to spoil it for anyone else. Yesterday, I took my son in to Calgary to catch a plane to the coast. Then when I came out I filled up with gas
as the pump price was way less than in Brooks. Then I couldn't get back on the road to go the direction I wanted to so I went north, & wound up doing an Albertan version of the Aussie walk-a-about, on my was a drive about. Landed up in Drumheller away north of where I was supposed to be, so I was on the road about 4 hours longer than I should have been, but I sure saw a lot of country I hadn't seen before, including
Horseshoe canyon, which is a deep coulee
which shows the strata going back some 270 Million years. Picked up a book for
Wilma, which I will send as I would think she would find it interesting since she lives south of Sydney & that's still on the Aussie coast, temperate zone & nice & green, but not tropical like Queensland & the Northern Territory. Have to head to the doctor, both for me & my friend Yvonne,
so we will both get our results of her scan & my blood test. For me so far so good, although I've had one very odd back-ache since Monday. Seems to be in the kidney area. It does seem a vit better this A.M. but you never know at my age what will fall apart next. I still have to catch up to Granny & Aunt
Marge, who both passed in their nineties
so I've a way to go as yet. Will go back
to pick Alan off the plane On Aug 8th, but this time will have an Alberta map on board. I was truly lost so had to ask a flag girl how to get back to where I wanted to be. Bet she thought I was some kind of dummy. But I enjoyed the drive & the new stuff I got to see.
Sorry thatEllen won't have a concert in Cleveland, but maybe she is close to another venue, like me having to go to
Edmonton a five hour trip!! But Iknow I can do that as look at yesterday & tho I
was a bit tired I was far from exhaustion. Sally it seems to me that the Las Vegas concert is in Dec, just before Toronto. As he is to be in Portland.Seattle Vancouver, Edmonton,
Saskatoon & then south back into the U.S
before the wind-up gala in Toronto. Hope
all are well.
Hi Marianne, your comments are always so interesting.Isn't it true, sometimes when we get "lost" we can discover the most interesting places, like in "the road less traveled.Sothen we learn something new. You mention Wilma, I need to send her a card too, I've got it, just haven't sent it yet. I'm sure she will enjoy the book you send. Had to laugh at your comment about "at my age who knows what will fall apart next". Isn't it the truth? I'm 70 so I know what you mean.
I don't believe it. I've heard of people giving their age as less than what it is, but never a woman who says she is older than she is...until now. Shirley, you are 50. I'm certain. I have met you, talked with you and know you. So don't argue with me young lady, I know better.
Wow! Should I send you girls a check in the mail? Maybe my birth certificate is wrong?Well, if what you say is true I would have to attribute it to Missouri water, Oil of Olay, the music I love and last, but not least, Dan, who makes me laugh every day!
So Sherley, You do have the Fountain of the Youth!? That is all We need! Kati
Shirley dear have you been out in the sun too long? 70? no way. You look around 50 from a photo I saw someplace! Usually, like Sally said, we take a few years off our age but never add on. I will take 57 as my age since Andre is that age
Ha, twice in my life I've accidently added a year to my age...and when it actually came to my birthday, I realized what I had done, and so I get to do the year all over again. Hmmm...it's ok...but if I could actually LIVE it all over again, then I could change a few things.
However, on the front end of this I am older than I really am...and on the tail end of this...I am a year younger!
I will never forget my Aunt Viva, who told me (on my 5th birthday) that she was born "The same day" I was. Well, that made her 5 years old too didn't it????
I looked up at my aunt and said, "Aunt Viva, you are the Biggest 5 year old I ever saw!!"
Years later we both got a laugh out of that.
Hi, Sally!! I'm up at 4:30 am, EST., Sat. morning, 8/4/07 with an "attack" of sinusitis and HAD to respond to your story!! I had a good friend, now deceased, whose first name was Viva! Her last name was Street. What was YOUR aunt's last name?? Take care. Ellen
Hi Ellen, my aunt's last name was Wright. She lived in Fairfield, same town I live in, and was one of the nicest people. She took pleasure in the simple things in life.
I hope your sinuses are better. Allergies, sinus attacks, asthma. All bad stuff. poohie.
Oh what I came on to say is they are taking pledges for Reading starting today. A few things have changed of course - now for $450.00 you get 2 front center tickets, CD/DVD NY Memories and a meet & greet with 2 JSO members which is not bad but she said she tried for Andre but could not get him so I took the 250.00 seats which will be a few rows back. We are going to three concerts next year and that is about all we can afford right now. If the meet and greet included Andre I would give up eating for the year, not that I don't love the JSO because I do but it gets expensive. So that is todays news!! At least we will be there. Martha S. I hope you are reading this. If not I will email you!
Hugs to all
I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful August. Up here in the Northwest August is kind of a turning point with me as far as the weather goes, on days when it's a little cooler and the wind is blowing nicely, it feels like fall, which is one of my favorite times of the year.
Hello everyone, Back from a weeks vacation in Ft Walton Beach Florida (I live in Florida!) O well we were invited to a time share by some friends) Hope all is well. I was really surprised by this new format (Great job Sally, looks great!) Just trying to catch up on all the news (could not use computer where I was). I hope everyone is getting their tickets for Andre's next year concerts. I was extremely lucky to get tickets for his concert in Jacksonville next year (actually I got 10 tickets for family and friends including 3 new friends from this fan club, Jennie Ann and her husband Clyde and Ruth Morgan and am looking forward to meeting them! Its good to go away but also good to get back.
My best to all!
Bob Ruark
Hi Bob, missed you.Sounds like you will have a great group in Jacksonville.
HOLLAND FUN
Sally, can you explain this picture? Love the costumes.
Isn't this a fun foto? Carnival time in Holland and the people dress up, some as Andre and his JSO!
Jeanine Ann so pleased to hear Cotton's health is improving - hope she continues on the road to recovery. BTW loved your words to the old song "The Partys Over" it used to be one of my favourites. Have a great August everyone - September is on the way and maybe a glimpse of Andre during his promotional week here on our TV!! Here's hoping.
HI DJBOB - Welcome back. Hope you had a great vacation. Thank you so much for adding us to your list. That will be one great concert! Have a great day catching up. Hugs
Hi Norma, thank you so much. I too am glad that Cotton had a good report. Hope it continues. Have a beautiful day. Hugs
dear friends Got my test results on Fri
& they were all good!! The kidney filtering function is back to normal limits so I feel very blessed, & somewhat like a phoenix rebounding from
a life threatening situation. Marlene,
I am so glad that Andre's music turned your love of music back on as it did for me. I still listened,to music, but
not with my whole heart. I just got busy so I didn't have to think, so I was
very shut down for some time. Cotton is better so thee seems to be an upswing
for just about everyone & that is the bestest news. I just knew that Andre
would do something spectacular that would blow us away. He may not be able to bring that to Calgary, but I think the Edmonton venue is big enough to
accomodate the new set. Australia will
get to see something spectacular & they
will be glad of the wait as it will be worth it. Talking about age, I turn 74
on Aug 29th. Share my B/D with muchael Jackson & Ingrid Bergman. Two very different folks. Although virgos are
detail people they are also somewhat of the maverick genre. I know for myself
that I march to my own drum & always have done so even as a small child. It
is odd, that as you mature, you learn stuff about yourself that was always there & you just weren't aware, but I am
comfortable in my skin, & so am different in my attitude & outlook, that's not a bad thing, When I was in my forties, I took life as it was presented & didn't worry about to-morrow, & as the years have progressed
I do more of the same. Still miss my hubby Don, but I've accepted that he is a better place, & since I can't chage it I just carry on. That philosophy is part of AA serenity prayer that goes
as recognozing we all have problems & the key is to fix what you can, & park
the unsolvable in the hands of God so you don't just spin your wheels. We all
know what happens if you're stuck in a mudhole, spin the wheels & you just dig in deeper, It's a lot simpler to let go & get a tow truck if needed. Been there, done that!! nuff said. Hope everyone is well. Ellen the Las vegas concert is in Dec. That should be a different venue, I would think as anyone knows who's been to Vegas, just how topsy-turvey it is. My sister, who was my birth-mom lived there for many years, so I had a different outlook than
most folks. I do know that most vegas residents don't get caught up in the gambling etc as they'd never get anything else done if they did. Hope everyone is well Love Marianne
You are right Marianne and as a person who lived in Las Vegas for the best part of 22 years (off and on), take the gambling out of Vegas and it's just another town like any other.
I worked in the casinos for about 12 years (off and on) and I remember one time that a lady asked me if I lived there (in Las Vegas). People don't actually realize sometimes that Las Vegas is just like anywhere else with grocery stores (where you can buy milk and bread, vegetables, etc.) post offices, MacDonald's, etc., they think it's just a place to gamble and then leave.
Anyway, I wished that I could re-visit there, I would love to see Andre in Vegas. I believe with all my heart that he's just what Las Vegas needs...although they don't get to keep him
I have so much I wish to say but I have to leave. I'll be back tomorrow, hopefully have a little time then. Have a good day.
Dear Marianne - so glad to hear your news is good. Prayer does work. I see you share a birthday with my husband Clyde - he turns 70 on Aug. 29. Guess he won't mind if I tell you. You have such a great outlook on life Marianne and I am so happy for you. It rubs off on me and slowly I am getting to accept the things I cannot change and I just look forward with all my heart to the lovely concerts my husband and I will see in Dec. and next year. It keeps us both going. THANK YOU Andre!
The fans in Vegas will have a great time having Andre in Dec. I am happy for them. Will be back later. Hugs
Happy Birthday

Sally, you continue to amaze me with the updates on this website. GREAT JOB AND APPRECIATED MUCHO! THANKS, Sal!! Barb
Hi Barb!! Always good to see your friendly smile here.
This Blog accepts HTML in posts, so if you have an HTML editor, such as Front Page, DreamWeaver or something.. or just know HTML code, you can add color to your posts. Otherwise, I do it for you. (which I don't mind)
Uploading photos is something only Moderators have the tools for. I will look to have a feature one day where we can all upload, but right now that's not even an option for me. The settings do not allow it.
And I don't believe I know how to allow it at this time.
work work work.. and still need to learn learn learn. It's all a work in progress.

Hi all,
I was having some difficulty reading some of the entries. Very small print and is very light. Now I see some have become darker.....like the "bold" setting maybe? Sally, did you make this change??? or, do the entries before this one use bold? I sure like it better. And I just had my eyes checked too!!! No new glasses this time. My computer text is set for "largest" and am having trouble figuring this all out. Help! I don't want to miss a word.
Hi Barbara: Hold down the "Control" key and move your mouse upward. (If you have a scroll wheel in the middle, move that upward). This will Increase the size of the font on most any webpage. And of course, rolling it down, will reduce it.
I do think this comes out at 10pt, and I am thinking of making it 12pt. Webmommy work is never done.
Well, I didn't know that! Works like a charm. And I think I'll just let you control the colors. You make them look so pretty.
I use that trick on webpages that have 'small print' and think we .. ever so slightly ... over 50 crowd can't see the print.. ha! We show them!
PSS....If you want to see a fun website....it is where I work, check out www.handi-dogs.org I love this job and get so much satisfaction seeing how our clients and their service dogs help individuals improve each day. Hugs , Barb
What a great idea and great organization. Service dogs can be so important to a disabled person.
Hi Barb, I have not heard freom You since a long time.! I hope, all is great for You! I was a painter today, make all kind of colors, I did finish one bedeoom today, two more to go.! Tak ecare!. Kati
Back to the behavior of some fans--my first concert was Montreal 1997 - Andre's first visit in North America. After they played the first number, he was standing there talking about the orchestra and why they decided to come to North America, etc. A man walked up, stood right in front of Andre and held up an autograph book and kept waving it around. Andre finally looked down and said, "No." Everyone around me said sotto voice "good for him." I can just remember that first appearance where the stage looked like a fairy land, Christmas decorations, candelabra, carousel horses, flowers, etc. Then when the orchestra came on stage and the ladies in their beautiful gowns (must admit a lot of the gowns have improved since the early days), it was a dream come true. Now, years later, I think the singers have added so much, it's hard to imagine a show without them.
If JSO is going to Mexico and South America next year I don't know what to do. Was toying with the idea of going to Maastricht (except the plane fare is so expensive). But I love Brazil and flights there are usually fairly inexpensive about half the cost of Europe. And it's cheaper all around than Europe. Depends on time of year, where, etc. I guess. A friend of mine has built a gorgeous house in Rio. Sometimes if he's not there he rents it out. $5000 a week for up to eight people. It is furnished with antiques, has a little pool on the roof with a barbecue area. In a little mews. How about stained glass shower doors? A professional kitchen? Once I know something about the schedule I must get in touch with him. Even if he were there and would let five or six people stay, it's a less expensive week than any of the hotels per person and you have the freedom of the whole house. Right in the middle of everything. In that area nothing is more than four or five blocks from Copacabana beach because that's where the mountain walls start. Ideal. Hmmmm. I saw the house when it was still being built and have seen pictures of it finished. Something else to think about. I certainly can't afford to go to Maastricht and Brazil. If I had stayed in the corporate world, I would have a nice pension coming in, but I didn't and I don't.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LOVELY LORRAINE! I do hope you have many, many more. What beautiful cakes! Now I am hungry and I am going to bed! Tired
Lorraine, you will listen to Andre next, right
Dear friends. Jeanine Ann, thanks for telling me that your husband Clyde & I I share the same birthdate. I feel a connection to all the regulars as we have been able to share so much of our day to day lives. Now if I could win a huge lotto, the first place I'd arrange to go is Maastricht, & then Auvergne infrance where the maternal ancestors originated after they had left Tuscany.
I sometimes think I have a memory of a few of these places so many ancestral memories are part of one's heritage. Is
Audrey the sister with the kidney stones, if so I hope she is better. That is the most excruciating pain a human can under-go. Don't think there is a cure but to up one's consumption of water, that can do a bit of prevention. Have a six month scan coming up on Sept 5th to see if the aneurysm has progressed or stayed the
same. Hope it is the latter as I don't really relish the aspect of more surgery
Already have more than enough surgical scars, so don't need any more. It is still hot here, but the nights do cool off, so one doesn't need the AC all night. Love to all Marianne
dear Lorraine, Many happy returns of the day to you on your special day. The
cakes are scrumptious, & beautifully decorated. They look good enough to eat but are so pretty its a shame to cut into them, I tried to post but the system said I had to wait a bit, Love &
hugs from Marianne
Hi Marianne Great to hear your test results were good. Keep well. Love Norma
Happy Birthday Lorraine from one Leo to another. My birthday is the 4th too. Hope you had a great day. Hugs Norma

Dear Norma,
I wish a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Many greetings and Kisses from Germany,
Iris
I know that I'm late, but I just got in. I hope you have a wonderful birthday Lorraine! The cakes are very beautiful and I would assume they taste as good as they look.
Take care and I hope your birthday is everything you hope for. Peace, love and happiness, and of course, beautiful music always.
Late...never too late to receive love...thanks a million for your great greeting and wishes, love, L
Hi.
I'm new to Andre's music, and to this wonderful website. I just recently saw "New York Memories" on dvd, and loved it. I especially love Suzan Erens. She has the voice of an Angel.
I hope to get to see Andre when he tours Australia next year.
Have a great night/day wherever you all are. And Keep Up The Great Work. This is a Beautiful Website.
Welcome to AndreRieuFans.com Gypsy. You'll find everyone welcoming and all of us Friends. And now you are a part of our Family of Friends too!
Suzan Erens has a beautiful voice, I agree. I think her voice has improved over the years. She reminds me of a Broadway star, someone who would do well in musicals. And, she is a terrific person as well.
Well Norma, happy belated birthday to you too. I try to write down the date of everyone's birthday & I missed yours. (I'm sure there are many I don't know.) And HELLO GYPSY.Hopefully you can see Andre when he's in your city. And everyone else, GOOD SUNDAY MORNING.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO NORMA! May you have many, many more and may all your dreams come true.
GYPSY, welcome to you in Australia. Hope you will return often. You will probably see Andre and hopefully Suzan in the near future!!
GOOD SUNDAY MORNING TO YOU SHIRLEY.
Marianne, thanks for asking about Aud. She passed one stone and just had x-rays to see where the others are. Hopefully they left. Will keep you posted. Off to church now and will see you all later. Hugs
Hello all, I have been out of touch for a while and may have missed it if there has been any ideas of if and when Andre will visit Australia in 2008.
Thanks
Wendy
Hi Wendy: We know the cities now, and are waiting to find out exact dates.
A Very Happy Birthday to you Norma! I'm sorry it's belated. I hope you had a wonderful day filled with family, friends and all you wished for!
Love, peace and happiness to you, and of course, beautiful Andre music.
Dear Marlene - I must have missed your post on Friday and didn't see the beautiful story you wrote about losing your interest in music for 4 years after your husband died. Was that a long time ago or more recent? Isn't it wonderful how things happen in your life to bring you back so to speak to where you can be happy again. I am so happy that happened for you. I know that is God acting in our lives, all we need to do is recognize it and hang on to whatever He sends to help us. It is not hard to hang on to Andre and his beautiful music is it!! Hugs to you and all.
Jeanine Ann, my husband passed away Dec. 31, 1999, needless to say it was a somber New Year's Day.
You know...it didn't really affect me until about the middle of February, and then it hit. I changed so much of my routines and life after that..including the music. I'm back to "normal" now, of course I'm still wondering what "normal" really is.
I'm happy with my life now, I still miss my husband very much, but I've accepted it of course.
I'm happy that I've found Andre Rieu and his music, it's filled a portion of my life with happiness, I'm happy that I've found this site and all of you out there who are so friendly and pleasant and you are just a great bunch of people. I'm happy to be here.
Life is never will be the same without Your Husband! I do know also. It is very hard to cope sometimes. I keep busy, this way, I do not think of Him all the time. Take care!! Kati
Hi Wendy, We have no dates but Andre will be in Australia in 2008 as far as I know. Keep checking with us to see if any dates surface. Hugs to you
Thanks Jeanine Ann, I have friend in England who may visit Australia next year, so she was just checking with me as she has no computer.
Wendy
Hello all
Good news about Andre visiting Australia plan to go to Europe late next year but will not book until we have a date here in Australia. Would hate to go over there to find he is in Sydney
Jude

NORMA...HAPPY BIRTHDAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I JUST CAME IN OR WOULD HAVE KNOWN EARLIER....THAT YOU AND I WERE BORN ON THE FOURTH OF AUGUST. WISHING YOU A WONDERFUL BELATED BIRTHDAY...AND FANTASTIC YEAR AHEAD. NICE TO HAVE MY DAY SHARED BY SOMEONE AS NICE AS YOU! LOVE, LORRAINE
Hi DJBob. I hope you are over the shakes completely by now. Thanks so much for the photoshows. I love the Platin Tenore. I was able to play the other one right away. No downloading.
I wasn't able to play the previous ones,
but could if I downloaded them.
I assume the photos on the Tales of Vienna Woods photoshow are of the Danube River and of Vienna and the area around it. I recognized the statue of Johann Strauss.
Thank you. They are great I really enjoyed them.
Dear Marilyn, Yep the shakes are gone! When ever I make a photo show I am playing Andre's music in the background to inspire me. The show on my website (Tales from the Vienna Woods) is actually on my other web site "MY SPACE". I upload them there and transfer you from my site to the other which is why it plays right away. On my personal site the shows are not stored on my site but on a master computer and that is why it use to take a while to download them to my site. If you want to download to your computer you still have to wait as before. It's good to be back in the swing of things again, also thanks for helping me correct my spelling of Tales (not tails as I had put on my site, which I corrected.) I don't have a spelling check there!
All my best
Bob Ruark (.
Great photoshows Bob, really enjoyed them. Thanks so much. Glad you are back! Hugs
Wow! I've never had so many B'day wishes from so many lovely friends from so far away SOOOOO Thank you Sally,Iris,Shirley,Jeanine Ann, Marlene,Marilyn & Lorraine - I'm absolutely "tickled pink" Love & hugs to you all.
Happy birthday, Norma. I'm a Leo too, as my birthday is on the 10th.
Hi everyone,
I have just learned of Andre's up coming visit to Perth, Australia. I can't tell you how happy this has made me. I, like so many of his devoted followers have been waiting anxiously for this news. Now all I need to know is what dates he will be here ...... to get front row seats would be a dream come true, I will try my hardest. I have 19 dvd's and 8 cd's in my collection, which get played constantly, I sometimes wonder how I have managed to get through my life so far without this mesmerising music maestro which has taken over my entire existence... ha ha but as he brings so much happiness into my life, I consider it perfectly ok. I have a question for DJBob.. what website do you go to to upload Tales from the Vienna Woods? Thank you.
Hugs from Perth

André Rieu -
Die große Nacht der Wiener Musik
Huge Concert ~ A Night of Vienna Music
Die große Nacht der Wiener Musik
Don't forget to look at the photos. Vienna offers such a beautiful venue.
ZDF ~ Vienna Photographs
Don't you wish we could watch this on our TV? Isn't this the same concert that Ruth & Ineke attended? Lucky them!
Hi Shirley and everyone. I checked with ComCast my local cable carrier for TV and asked them if they carried ZDF on the Extended Basic Cable. They said they didn't, but the guy checked the ZDF website, and determined that ZDF had videos and streaming videos (remember the Albany Mother's Day concert). So I don't know, wouldn't a streaming video of the Vienna concert be nice if it was done. The website language is German, so it's not easy to
understand. We cam dream, anyway. André thinks that ZDF shows in the US.
Yes, I would love to be able to see this! Everything looked so beautiful. Those statues are incredible.
Hi. I was just looking at the ZDF website to see what was there and if anything is there about the Aug 11 concert. There is quite a bit about André's broadcast on the 11th. You have to click on Program and scroll down a ways. Everything is in German, but if you have a German/English dictionary that helps a bit. It will be interesting to watch and see if there is a streaming video (maybe per Comcast) or a plain ol'video. It says the concert starts at 20.15. My German friend says there is a 9 hr difference between Munich and Oregon, so I am thinking maybe 11:15 am. Does that sound right? Anyway, it will be interesting to see if there is something to watch or (even better) to listen to.
Dear Mitchell, Tales from the Vienna Woods is a photo show I made on a software program I have from Nero. The website that I upload to is MY SPACE.COM it is like a public website that anyone can join and is free from Goggle. My personal site is:
www.djbobphotos.com
I am glad Andre will be coming to your country! I do not know how his tickets will be sold there, but when I heard he was coming here next April to Jacksonville, Florida near where I live I called the PBS (Public Broadcasting Station) Tv station the same day and was lucky to be able to get front row seats for his concert. I hope this can be of help to you. I have been to his concerts before and anywhere you sit he is GREAT!! When the dates are announced try and find out ASAP how the tickets will be sold.
All my best
Bob Ruark (DJ Bob)
Hi Bob, any information you can find out about the prices of concert seats would be a big help. We would love to go again this year, sadly not to Orlando but other venues may be possible depending on the cost,
Thanks,
Wendy Cocoa
Sally - I saw the photos, where is the music. Thanks so much for the link. The photos are gorgeous and so is Andre! I think we are all in withdrawal this morning!
Hi Shirley, I see you saw the web site too. Is it photos only? I was looking for music or something
Jeanine Ann, from what I can tell it's just the ZDF channel advertising Andre's upcoming concert on TV. And there's no music, only pictures.
Ok thank you Shirley. That is what I thought but was hoping for something like a concert
. . . . HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TO YOU, NORMA.
I am trying to put everyone in their "place" (country, that is) and am wondering where you hail from. It has been a while since I have kept up with this site on a continual basis. I would love it If ya'll please write on this website or to me, ret2hend@aol.com, your city, country and birthday. Hope it is cooler in other parts of the country than here in Dallas, TX area. HOT and HUMID. Thank goodness for air conditioning. Thanks, Sally for the Vienna site. Oh boy, oh boy, do I ever have Andre LIVE concert withdrawal. . .
Howdy Hello Everyone: Good Idea Barbara! In fact, it's time I remind everyone
we have a "BIRTHDAY" page.
Just click the link, scroll to the bottom and add your Name and Birthdate!
BIRTHDAYS
Another photo show! This is a different version of a previous show I put on Nero Photo Show. The big difference is it is with music of ANDRE! which I could not use on Nero. This is one of the main reasons I got my own private web site to share not only photos but the beautiful music of Andre and the JSO!
http://www.djbobphotos.com/index.html
You can't miss it its right on the main page. I am working on more of this type of photo shows with photos and music of the beloved Andre!!! Enjoy
DJ Bob (Hooked on sharing Andre with the world one person at a time)
Hey DJBob. I liked it. Very fun. Thanks.
Bob,Y our show is really nice!! How do You combine, Andre's music with Your pictures? Kati
I really wonder about the dfamous painters of all times!?? It is sure not that much fun to paint in plain color. No wonder, Michaelangelo took years and years to paint the most beautiful Frescos!! Two down, one more to go! I think, i will be OK, for a few years!!?? Kati
Dear Kati,
The software program lets you pick what music you want. They have a list of different music to choose from (Classical, rock, country etc.) that you can pick from for use only to upload to their Photo Show site. You can add any music you want (My Andre music I download from a site called E music which I subscribe to and then add it to the photo show using the software program but I can not upload it to "Photo Show". As I said before thats why I got my own web site to do whatever I want( within reason of course) Thanks for your comment, I just enjoy making them and listing to Andre's music!
All my best
Bob Ruark
Thanks Bob! yes I do have the option for the music, I just did not have Andre's music to select. Thanks! Kati
Hi everyone, saw this and thought it was nice:
The Speech of Angels -
Music is said to be the speech of Angels; in fact, nothing among the utterances allowed to man, is felt to be so divine.
It brings us near to the Infinite: we look for moments across the cloudy elements into the eternal light, when song leads and inspires us.
Serious nations, all nations that can listen to the mandate of nature, have prized song and music as a vehicle for worship, for prophecy, and for whatsoever in them was divine -Carlyle-
Beautiful, Jeanine, I love it.
Very nice words Jeanine Ann. I believe these words explain the reasons we love music so much, I mean beautiful music, music that touches our hearts.
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this. Never even blogged before. I've just recently become a fan of Andre and the orchestra and have just watched the Radio City New York concert for about the fifth time this week. Can anyone let me know what is the name of the girl in the blue dress who plays the bagpipes in Amazing Grace. What a fantastic entertainer. Looking forward to seeing the show when they tour Australia next year.
Good morning everyone. Hi David, welcome. The girl you ask about is Sanne Mestrom. If you want to read a little about her, go to Andre's site, click on music, then orchestra, you will find a short bio of many of the orchestra members, hope this helps.
Hello David, If you have become a fan of Andre Rieu this is the place to be! I had a chance last year after Andre's concert here in Florida to meet and talk to Manoe Konings. She is from Andre's hometown. If you have a chance check out my website
http://www.djbobphotos.com/index.html
She is my "featured JSO member" and there I have a video of her playing "Amazing Grace" that I took at the concert.
Bob Ruark
DJBOB, I enjoy this site of yours very, very much.I have put you in my "favorites" list.
Dear Shirley, Thank you for your kind comment on my site. I really enjoy being able to spread the Joy and Happiness that Andre has given to me and this website helps me share that joy with everyone!
All my best
Bob Ruark
opps, I misread your statement David, I thought you said sax. ok, the girl in the blue dress with the bagpipes is Manoe Koening(?) or something like that, still go to Andre's site and she will be listed under clarinet.Sorry for the mistake, it happens to me a lot!
Thank you very much Shirley. Much appreciated
I just heard, on the radio, a very favorite song of mine, and after reading all the birthdays, I'd like to dedicate this song to all my Andre friends who are YOUNG AT HEART.
Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you
If youre young at heart
For its hard, you will find, to be narrow of mind
If youre young at heart
You can go to extremes with impossible schemes
You can laugh when your dreams fall apart at the seams
And life gets more exciting with each passing day
And love is either in your heart or on its way
Dont you know that its worth every treasure on earth
To be young at heart
For as rich as you are its much better by far
To be young at heart
And if you should survive to 105
Look at all youll derive out of being alive
Then here is the best part
You have a head start
If you are among the very young at heart
And if you should survive to 105
Look at all youll derive out of being alive
Then here is the best part
You have a head start
If you are among the very young at heart. (especially to those of us over 50)
It seems that the Andre Rieu version of the “Second Waltz” is being used by Sprint in a TV advertisement. Can you confirm this?
Ronald, it is indeed true. You can see the commercial on youtube. It's under Charts- Sprint Ahead, see if you can find it.
Andre inspires me to continue my passion with classical music. When I was a student at University of Massachusetts in Boston, Massachusetts, my exam required that we listen to all the classical music and be able to identify the matching composer. I was the only "A" in the class of over 100 students. I have always had that special ear and passion for music, especially this music. I played the piano, but always wish to play the harp as one of my dreams. Of course, I played Strauss' Waltz. When I heard Andre play the violin (my mom played the violin), I was more than thoroughly exhilarated for I felt a common thread, a lover of the eloquence of life itself and appreciation of all the harmony in life that exists. I simply thank Andre for all of Andre's eloquence. Signed in international friendship amd with ardor by Lois of Winthrop, Boston, Massachusetts. P.S. Life is so far more than a simple coincidence. Also, I hope Andre continue to share Andre's musical talent and beauty with the world all Andre's life with Andre's continued fulfillment.
Hi Lois, so good to hear from you. You must really have a good ear for beautiful music especially since you were the only "A" student. That is wonderful. Do you have any of Andre's CD's or DVD's. I hope you will come back to talk with us. There are so many great people of this site who have a genuine love for Andre and his music. Tell us a little more about yourself. Thank you for stopping by. Hugs
Hi all, just looked up the Sprint commercial on YouTube. It sounds great. You know my husband just told me today "oh yeah, I heard that several times", and he didn't tell me!! He looks at TV more than I do.
Jeanine Ann, the first time we caught the commercial we went to the TV to watch Andre. Boy were we fooled! I said well, that's Andre's music anyway.
NEW PHOTO SHOW> MY website:
http://www.djbobphotos.com/index.html
ANDRE RIEU"S (who else?) "Rigoletto"
Its on my home page. Enjoy!!
The JOY that ANDRE & The JSO brings!!!!
Bob (DJ) Ruark! (who else?)
Hi Bob. I really liked AR's "Rigoletto". I just got home from work and was decompressing. This cheered me right up! I'm feeling cheerier already. Thanks much.
DJ You always come up with some goodies!? HUH? Kati
Hi DJBob, Just viewed the first photoshow and that was really great and now I see another new one which I will go to now! Thanks so much - it is so nice to look forward to these shows and I am sure it takes a lot of work. I know we can say "The JOY that DJBob and his photoshows bring"! Thanks
Hugs
Everybody had Andre's New York show on this past Weekend? Coming back on Wednesday also! Kati
Hi Kati, they have not shown the NY show here but I think they are getting ready to. They have a pre-screening of the show on Thursday at the studio and then I think they will show the concert on TV and start the pledges. I made my pledge on Friday of last week but I don't think I will get first or second row because they are saving those rows for the group who will be going to meet and greet the 2 JSO members (don't know who) but it is expensive so we had to take the less expensive tickets. They tried to get Andre but could not. The concert is May 26, 2008.
Bob I loved that last photoshow also. Thanks again so much. Hugs to all
Hi Jeanine, there are no more Meet and Greet, and it is way too expensive anyway, so, I am going less expensive also. I enjoy My DVD more, They do talk a lot, and cut out a lot from the concert, so I just keep watching the concert without interruption! Kati
Hi Kati, according to PBS in Bethlehem Pa. they are saying "Meet and Greet" with two orchestra members but this will cost 450.00 for 2 seats. It is not with Andre or I would reconsider. So with Andre there are no more meet and greet and I don't know which two JSO they are talking about. Take care. Hugs
dear Norma Akers. A ery belated happy birthday to you, Somehow missed you & have been busy with other stuff, Am retired so I should have loads of time,
but I do seem to find things to do, Just
finished "the sleeping Doll" a ne Jeffrey Deaver novel. He writes a good murder mystery & with the twists & turns
you don't know the ending until the very last page. J.K. Rowling did the same scenario with the final Harry Potter book, which I quite enjoyed!! I know it's supposed to be a kids' book but it has a lot for the adult as well
I see some of the older movie vets are going to produce so old fashioned movies
with proper stories plot etc, so I hope
they can accomplish this task. Some of the current crop of movies are such drivel except maybe Disney films. I don't even have movies channels on my digital, mostly watch Ntnl Geographic,
Disc civilization, travel channel Animal
planet, history channel & of course soaps (ABC) in the daytime, My favorite is General Hospital & I've watched that for some 45 years. Always tried to do sitting down housework at that time as it was kids naptimes, so it worked out okay, Mostly I am a book-worm & am digesting a anthro-palentology book about the rise of humanity in Africa. It's a slow read as there is a lot of technical stuff involved, but the color plates,(life-size) are really well worth studying with a magnifying glass which is the only was to dscern all the fine details. I have onlu just begun that book, & have read five other 500/600 page novels in the past three weeks. Am waiting to receive my tickets
for the Oct 13th concert in Edmonton &
the head of that dept KSPS in Spokane told me I will have them in early Sept. Apparently they ran out of tickets, so I expect the venue will be full. Hope to meet up with here either befopre or after the concert & also Al Girard, so I
am earerly anticipating. Hope Andre plays Ravel's Bolero as part of the concert, but watever he choosed it will be well received. With the numbers of people with requests, he can't possibly change the order of songs without a whole lot of up-set. Maybe I could have a request when I turn 100!! But I still have quite a few cds & dvds, & a wish list a mile long. Hopefully his 2008 calendar will be available by mid-October. I hope to get to the concert early & perhaps take in the sound check & speak to some of the orchestra member
I will have my almost 11 yr old grandson Andy in tow, at his own request
Je's see N/Y Memories so he now knows whar gramma's shouting is all about. A
year ago he wouldn't even listen to Andre's music, but he's made a complete
turn-around, so I am pleased by him gaining an open mind & the willingness to try out new things. Have some travel
brochures to send to Wilma, so she can see a bit of where I live. Bald flat prairie, but lots of trees in patches &
the badlands have an awesome beauty of their own. Like even Las Vegas with its'
naked mountains, that have lost their trees Still have beauty Love Marianne
I send Sally an press articel (08.08.07) about André and Marjorie Rieu. Since many fans of the whole world wanted to see Andrés women, a German newspaper now published a photo from her. After consultation and Andrés OK. This was photographed in Vienna on July 14. . Enclosed two more photos from the press. Consequently, the fans meet also his loved wife. "Marjorie created André and developed him". Is a commentary. "She is like a general". She participates on all rehearsals, she writes all down in here list, also a too late list for JSO members they comes not on time to the rehearsal. She is very strict. . Comments to and for all. Sometimes, she crushes André and the JSO members. Read and translate the write from the press for all the info. René
See the article on AndreRieuFans.com News
I like that André & Marjorie are a team. Perhaps it is because they support each other, they become free to create the shows we see. With Love & Trust in each other, they can do their part and combine to make the music and concert of their vision.
I am always amazed that strong women are called "like a general" when strong men are called brave, showing leadership, things like that. It is that way no matter where one lives in the world.
Andre & Marjorie work well as a team and couple. I have Respect for them both.
Behind a strong man stands a strong woman. André and Marjorie are a great team.
I agree and working together helps a couple stay strong. Too many people do not support one another these days. I am certain it is difficult, but also well worth it when people work at it.
~Sally~
Yes they are, and it's very evident. The success of Andre Rieu, not only lies in himself, but also that his wife is the success she is. We have two strong people working together with love, friendship, dedication and teamwork, how can they be anything but a success?
I agree with you Sally, Marjorie and Andre are an amazing couple. I have so much respect for both of them. I am so glad that Andre gave permission for the article and photographs. It is so nice to see this wonderful woman who has taken care of our Andre through the years. I am sure it is very hard work but it shows in what we see every time we go to a concert or watch a DVD. I would like to know what the article says, it sounds so interesting. Thank you René for the article. Hugs
Hi Jeanine, if You have the book She wrote, You would have seen the Photos made, when They were younger, not too much difference, She is just as good looking, as ever, very smart, I would say! I do think, They do compliment each other! Kati
Yep, I wish I could read the article too, but since I don't read or speak German it's all Greek to me!! My very favorite picture of Marjorie is in "the book", on page 192. That lovely smile, those beautiful brown eyes, and all that curly hair!No wonder Andre took notice. She's no bimbo, very classy lady she.
Hi Kati and Shirley, yes I do have the book and I just love it. I know exactly which photo you mean Shirley it is a beautiful one.
Yes Kati she hasn't changed much from the photos in the book. I love her pretty eyes and Andre just keeps getting more handsome every day
Hi Sally, I wanted to copy the article to BabelFish for a translation, but the article won't let me copy it. Is there some way I can do it? Thanks, Marilyn
Thanks Rene, for the Article, for the World to see. My opinion, this is the only way to do a perfect or near perfect programm, have to have strict rules to follow. This businessis too big, too hard to handle, You have no rules, it will fall apart! Kati
Thank you René for the article on Marjorie, it's very nice to see her. She's quite a woman, who gives so much!
I remember one time that I told my husband that I would always stand behind him, and he said, "stand beside me, not behind me"...which is what I meant of course, however after he said that I realized the difference. Marjorie stands beside Andre and they work together for all the good they do for everyone.
I totally enjoyed "My Music, My Life", and by reading that book, I realized then that they were perfect together.
Their personal life is theirs, and I totally respect that, however, I so enjoyed finally seeing her (now). I know that she has done so much. Even though she will probably never read this, I really would love to thank her for all she has done.
Thanks so much for the article, René. André and Marjorie are such an inspiring couple. It's great to have a current article on them.
Thanks, Rene, for posting the article and picture. There is a notation of two other pictures....where are they? Did I totally overlook...probably!! Would you please send the site or post the site in a comment.
Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Can some German fan translate the whole story for us. Also cn we have a close up of the wonderful couple.
That picture is too small. Thanks.
Terrie, both René & Jeanine Ann have given translations. To enlarge the pictures, first click on picture, then right click. Should give you a close up.
I admire Marjorie very much. Some have said "the woman behind the man", but I think they are side by side, working together. She's a beautiful lady, who I'm sure has many headaches from all the work she does. I imagine that sometimes she wishes she had just stuck to teaching, although she may very well do some of that too.Andre & Marjorie are a good combination.

I'm sure there was not a dry eye in the house!
I just never can get enough of this DVD, most beautiful music! Kati
It won't be long Kati!
(I have my phone back and will buy a new ear piece tonight. Call you Saturday!
*I was having phone withdrawls
Thanks Joanne! I loved it when André played this song. It is a wonderful New York Memory! ~Sally~
I just cannot forget Andre's face after He finished this song, He got emotional, with good reason! Kati
Thanks, Joanne. I never really appreciated that song until I heard André play it on his violin. I like to hear it a lot. Marilyn S.
Oh that is beautiful. That is one of my favorites on the DVD. I have been wanting to ask - who is the man they keep showing in the audience during this song. I am sure he must be Sinatra related. Thanks Hugs
I've wondered about that too. Also there is a guy really singing away during, I think, "I will follow him".
They show him a couple of times.
NOT REALLY A NEW PHOTO SHOW! A little change of pace. Last Christmas season we went to Epcot at Disney World and I just came across a couple videos I took of the fireworks. There are 2 parts to this video. Turn up the volume to get a more realistic version. Let me know what you think.I have always loved a good fireworks show:

I hope you enjoy!
Bob Ruark (hooked on many things!)
You are very creative Bob, just keep entertaining Us! Thanks! Kati
Hi Sally and fans! I just looked at the photo of Marjorie, she hasn't changed much since they were young. She is an impressive person and they make a great pair. The best music I ever heard. The whole show is fantastic, she has some super idea's.
I just got back from the doctor, I broke my ankle bone this morning walking to the dumpster. I stepped down off the curb and there was a big hole there I didn't see so my ankle turned outside, I fell, dropped everything, skinned my knee, but got back up and continued on. It all happened so fast. My boss made me go to the doctor after I had went back to working. Now I am supposed to sit with my leg up. It is in a cast thing and I have to use crutches. I have never broken a bone nor used crutches before. I asked the doctor if this meant no Conga Line, and he looked at me funny and said, probably not. I don't care what is takes I am not missing Andre in October!! I am so glad I have his DVD's as I can watch them all day long for the time being.
Bob, your pictures and music are great, you do a very nice job.
Hope everyone is well.
Maybe, You can enjoy a lots of Andre's music! It is too bad You got hurt, but try to take care of Yourself and make the best of it. Kati
Hi Marilyn: Oh My. I am sorry to hear of your booboo. Ankles hurt so dang bad. Do take care of it. Yes, you've got to Conga at André's concert! So sit, leg up, take it easy.
Dear Marilyn, Sorry to hear about you accident. Your doctor doesn't know true Andre Rieu fans find a way to do anything! But some wheels on your crutches and I am sure you will find a way to do the Conga Line!! Andre's music is good for any problem we face!
I wish you a speedy recovery.
Bob Ruark (hooked on Andre Rieu's fans)
Hi Marilyn Bas. So sorry about your broken ankle bone. It can sure happen fast and so unexpectedly, can't it. Take care of yourself so you will be in good shape for Oct. 9. Cheers, Marilyn Smith
Marilyn, I'm so sorry to hear you broke your ankle! I can't believe you actually walked after you stumbled. I broke my ankle 4 years ago and there was no way I was going to walk on it. I had to sit in a wheelchair for 3 months. If you could actually walk on it, I'm thinking it will be good by the time October rolls around. It has to be, I have never seen anyone do the Conga Line in a wheelchair.
Hi Marilyn, So sorry to hear that you've broken your ankle. Being in a cast is not a lot of fun! I hope that you will be completely healed for the conga line in October. Stay well and recover speedily!L
Sally - just sent some material to you (two emails). Hugs
Oh Marilyn, so sorry to hear about your fall. Just rest as much as you can. This is a great time to sit with your leg up and watch Andre DVD's and dream about the time you will be dancing in that Conga line. Ankles do hurt very badly. I tore a ligament when I was in high school and had to use crutches. Can you imagine a teenager who loved to dance being on crutches for weeks! Hugs
HI Ya'll,the nortwest bear speaking here.HI miss Sally, nice to see ya improving your web site by leaps and bounds. Now about Andre and Marjorie,Now Marjorie was like an angler, she threw a fishing hook-and slowly kranked in the line,ha,ha,then she looked that baby over and and over and said: I'll keep this good looking trout! now we are going to feed this baby and watch it grow-man did it grow, now there are litle admiring fishies all over the cotton pic'n world; now Majorie had to think of a way to keep her fish so she fed it real good-extra good, now you'll know the old saying: a way to fish is through it's belly-right? ha,ha. So if the last blog is #8, I must be-gee!#9? I don't know guys. Hi Bill in Arid-Zona,ever heard Of Wicky-burg.You'sed to live there when I was a tea-ager. Anyway I guess I am the second only guy on these blogs,I feel like the lone stranger. I don't like fish'n any more, I ran out of fish'n line. Well you'll keep blog'n away. The nice grouuuuly bear from the great northwest teritory. Kyle S.
You not just the second ther is DJ Bob, another Bob, there is Al, there is Rene. All good looking Bunch, and They are all number 1 In Our eyes, right Ladies? Kati
Kati, RIGHT ON!! Us guys love to be surrounded by beautiful women. Just like Andre is with his beautiful wife and the lovely women in his orchestra!! GO GIRL!! You tell them!
Bob Ruark (Hooked on being surrounded by beautiful women!!)
You know Bob, I think all Guys like to be a little macho, a little show off beauty, I see nothing wrong with it, I might get jelaous of other pretty Ladies, but that is Life! Ladies, always work on their beauty! no way You can beat inner beauty tho!! Kati
Kati, I was in no way trying to be macho. Just trying to return the compliment you said about us guys! I don't know who this Kyle is. I thought Sally would have taken him off the guest book. I could not agree with you more on inner beauty!
All my best
Bob Ruark
You know Bob, as long as We are honest, friendly, not hurting anybody's feeling, We are OK. I like to tease people, and just hope They do understand my tease, it is OK with me. I think, Sally Welcomes all people, as long as We do respect each other's opinions without any bias, or prejudice. Just like Andre says, all Men should be Brothers! Kati
Hi Bob: Kyle is a great guy from the Oregon/Washington area with a beautiful wife named Judy. They like the outdoors, animals and .. each other!
Hi There Ranger Kyle. How is Shiska? (that is his horse)
Dear Sally, Thank you for you comment on my wife and daughter. I now know what the saying "You can't tell a book by its cover" really means. My best to Kyle and wife Judy and his Horse Shiska.
Today I have learned that everybody is beautiful in their own way! Have you read on web site "Message from DJ Bob"
http://www.djbobphotos.com/id36.html
There is beauty in everything in this world if we take the time to look for it.
May your life be full of happiness
Bob Ruark
Kati, you've got both covered! Beautiful inside and out.
Bob, I've seen your wife and daughter, and you are surrounded by beautiful women right there at home.
Right You Are Kati. Too men the interesting men are those who are intelligent, love to laugh, enjoy life and are of course Gentlemen. Top of the Chart Men!
What does Andre do with the flowers and gifts he gets during performances? Curious And what does he do when he disappears off stage for those few seconds. Nosy
Dear Marianne, Thanks for the Birthday wishes - belated or not it was lovely to receive them. I used to read a lot but now I get out and play golf (While I'm still fit enough!) I do love doing crosswords though, listening to You Know Who and spending time with our family. Keep well. Love & hugs Norma
Hi Barb Henderson nice to meet you. Thank you for the birthday greetings, much appreciated. We in Australia are just dying for Andre to come here in September so that we have maybe a glimpse of him on TV in OUR COUNTRY!
We will be absolutely beside ourselves when he comes in 2008! Hugs Norma
Dear Friends. Just a note to let you all know, I went in to Calgary last nite
to pick up my son at the airport. What a zoo!!. The drive there & back was uneventful, as it was after 5P.M. so no
traffic rush. Like all major cities there is grid-lock during the A.M & P.M rush hour. At least I didn
t have to go across the city to get to the airport, & I didn't get lost on the way home. Still laughing at myself over
the detour I took when I went in on Aug 2nd. Thanks Rene for the update on Marjorie, She is really a pearl beyond price & she & Andre have such a tremendous rapport between the two of them. It's not often, that you can see the love between a couple, & to me it's a joy to see. Just getting to the count-down for the Edmonton concert. Had to phone KSPS to find out where are my tickets, They have had to get more as
everyone who would normally go to Calgary & that's the whole of southern
Alberta, so I think the venue will be over-flowing. Will taxi to & from the venue so I don't get lost. Daytime is okay, but night-time is something else.
Too many roads & too much traffic, so I
will err on the side of caution & cab the trip. hope everyone is well as I am
Just a bit of carpal tunnel on my right wrist & hand. Some of it is arthritis so
one has to learn to live with it Love
Marianne
Marianne, the traffic in the Bay Area is busy and crowded all day & night. It's horrible. I explain it like this, we don't do "miles", we do "time". I am about 50 miles from San Francisco, but I could be 2.5 hours away. And on a rainy Friday night...I'm certain to be in for a 4 hour or more ride. Yuck.
Still, we love to travel and enjoy our cars. I wish America had Super Trains like Ruth & Ineke rode on to Vienna and like Japan has. If we had super fast, new trains, I would sure ride them.
Take care of the carpal tunnel, I know it is hell.
~Sally~
So...Sally, you do 50 miles everyday? Twice a day? Is that right?
Twice a month I do fifty miles the whole day. OMG...4 hours or more?
Ok...I will get over this. Really.
This "time" schedule certainly cuts into your weekend, yes?
I don't work in SF. (thank you Jesus). That's where the money is, but it would add up to 4 hours a day to my travel time. YUCK...yuck..yuck. No way. But I do have to travel. I only go about 22 miles. But even that, in an area that is not so heavy with traffic, takes up to an hour in the morning, and 45 minutes going home. Friday's are always anyone's guess.
Now we won't talk about the time it flooded and my commute took 9.5 hours.
Lesley from Perth Western Australia here. My goodness, it takes me 15 minutes to get to work in the morning and 15 minutes at night ... Hmmm I think I am spoilt living and working in a beautiful city such as Perth. I do hope you have Andre serenading you on these long journeys. I play him on my MP3 player and I'm so disappointed when I can only fit in 3 songs. Sometimes I leave my earphones in well after I am home because I can't bear to stop mid-song. Hope you all have a safe and quick ride to work tomorrow. Hugs to you all xxxx Les
Thank you for all the kind words. I feel guilty sitting around. Boy, getting used to crutches is something else, but I can get around. I have been able to catch up on this blog and that is fun. Time sure goes fast. We got our tickets in Dec. and not Oct is just around the corner.
My granddaughter,Kyleigh loves "Ah Day" and we watch DVD's together. She spends the night a lot. She will be 2 in October, but when Andre comes on she waves and gets very excited. She claps and for some reason she loves him. She just has good taste like all of us!
About the flowers Andre gets, they just left them by Teun's chair at the Sac concert and someone on stage brought me a bouquet after the show. I think they give them away. Maybe to hospitals or shut ins, that would be nice. I kept mine till the dried out, kept a few pieces and put them in a frame with a picture, and they are on my "Andre" wall.
So who all is coming to Portland on Oct 9th? It will be nice to meet you all.
Marilyn Bas
Hi Marilyn B. I am coming to Portland along with a friend. We both work at the local blood bank. I will work during Tues. morning and we will probably leave around 1:00. for Portland. We will stay overnight at the La Quinta and
drive back to Eugene the next morning.
It is Terri's first André concert and she is very excited. Yes, it would be fun to meet everyone. Marilyn S.
I'll be there Marilyn. It will be nice to meet you too, and everyone else who will be coming to Portland. I'm taking off Tuesday, I think, depends on when lunch is. I planned on taking the whole day off...but we shall see what happens. Frankly, I will be very surprised if I can work that day.
Marilyn B., I had to scroll back up to see what happened to you. OUCH!I did that once but I didn't break anything. sure felt like it though. Was off work about 3 days.Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but don't feel guilty about sitting around,it may be a chance to refresh yourself.
Its me again! There was one person I did not make a photo show about and that was Carman Monarcha, well here she is!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcgtByuGxrA
I now have a lot of my shows on YouTube
(Including Carman) at:
http://www.youtube.com/groups_videos?name=djbob
There is also a connection to You Tube on my own web page
http://www.djbobphotos.com
I like YouTube because you can see the show on a full computer screen by clicking on the lower right hand corner of the picture!
I hope everyone enjoys! If you have any request for shows just let me know. I will try and do what I can.
Isn't life great with Andre in it?
Maybe I am getting a bit carried away, but what a way to GO!
Bob Ruark Hooked on being hooked)
Bob, You were very busy, puting all those shows on You Tube! One is better than the other. This way the whole World can tune in, and enjoy. Great work, Thanks! Kati
ANDRE'S GUESTBOOK IS NOW OPEN ONCE AGAIN.
Oh thank you Shirley, it must have just opened up earlier because when I checked this morning it was still closed. I always feel better when the guest book is open and someone is around although they do need a vacation too. Had storms most of the day so I had to keep computer off. I guess our heat wave will end tomorrow with more storms. I love heat waves but they do take your energy especially when you are working outside.
Thank you DJBob for another photoshow. They are all great. Those fireworks were neat. Did you ever do a photoshow on Andre's beloved Maastricht? You have so many that, without looking, I forget if you did one like that. That would be a suggestion from me if you haven't. Hugs
PHOTO SHOW: The Andre Sisters at;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zgThNCpaWA
I have always liked this song by Glen Miller!
Make sure you view it in full screen mode on "you tube", the button in the lower right hand corner of the you tube screen. You can also see this show and others at my YouTube connection on my regular web site,
All my best to everyone!
Bob Ruark
That is a great piece, Bob. I really like it too. Boy, those Londoners were really swinging !
Oh gee I just lost my entire post and now I must try to remember what I just said. Don't you just hate that! I thanked DJBob for another great photoshow (The Andre Sisters). I always like that. I watched some concerts from 1996 and 1997 today after grocery shopping (I was tired of painting) and was amazed to see how young the JSO looked. I wonder how old they were when they started with Andre. I was watching "In Concert" (Dutch version) and they looked very young. Andre of course looked amazing
Marianne - did they tell you when the tickets would be ready? I know they usually tell you about a month before the concert but sometimes it gets close. How is your friend Alice doing. I don't know if I missed an update on her.
Have a great day tomorrow everyone. It is 10:30 here in the East so it is bed time. Hugs
Looks like Andre message board up and running again.
Dear friends My friend, Alice had her stitches & staples out to-day, & is doing vey well. She still has radiation
coming up as well as constructive surgery down the road, but she has a tremendous good attitude & for some reason that does help the healing & that
process bodes well as cancer patients often don't heal at all, so that tells me that they caught it before it went anywhere else. Hope most of the pain is gone from your ankle Marilyn, just rest it as much as you can. You can pad the top of the crutches as they often give pain under the arms. Myself have only had cracked ribs & that was very annoying as I couldn't laugh or cough without a lot of pain. Took six weeks for that to heal. Now I am double careful, when I walk & where I place my
feet. Looked at the bubblegum site & scrolled thru the whole thing. Can't read German but do recognize some of the words so I can get the gist of what is being said. Will try ZDF for the concert on Sat. I can get it on my computer from internet explorer, so will
let everyone know how that turns out. Hope all is well Love Marianne
Hi, Marilyn S your friend will likely never be the same. Last year was my first Andre concert and I was hooked even though I had seen a lot of the DVD's already. He is a great performer and the JSO and all are so talented and put on a great show which seems to go much too quickly.
Bob, love your pictures, and I too like to look around on You Tube.
Marlene, live in Albany but will probably come up to Portland to meet up with my friend. I bought 2 additional tickets so not sure who gets them, but maybe we can meet up. Last year we got there about 2 hours ahead of time. I went crazy when we pulled up to the buses. It is so exciting!
Marilyn Bas
Happy Birthday Al - have a fantastic day! "Come on the Cats!"
Hi Norma. Hope you had a great birthday. Didn't you mean "COME ON THE EAGLES" Only joking!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR CANADIAN FRIEND, AL GIRARD.
Happy Birthday Al! Hope you have a great day and wonderful year...knowing you and all your travel adventures and wonderful photography, your year will indeed be filled with adventure and fun! Happy Birthday, L

Happy Birthday, Al. Have a wonderful day. Does anyone know how we can get ZDF TV on our computers here? I would love to have a new Andre fix!
HAPPY BIRTDAY AL! Have Fun, keep writing Us, and do not forget all the great stories and Your pictures! Kati
Many thanks for the birthday wishes. Some friends are throwing a BBQ party for me on Sunday evening, so that should be fun.
As for watching ZDF in the USA or Canada, I doubt if it's possible. However, here's a translated page from the ZDF website:
André Rieu -
The large night of the Viennese music

This time André Rieu with its Johann bunch orchestra and choir places itself to a challenge of the completely special kind. Imagine that! FOUR sopranos!
How I hope Andre brings all four on his upcoming tour to Canada and the USA!!
Thank you and...
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL GIRARD
21 AGAIN
WONDERFUL! THANK YOU FOR THE NOTE FROM ZDF .
I CAN SEE THE CONCERT EVEN IF IT IS NOT ON MY TV.
Thank you Al for the translation. Hope your day is going absolutely wonderful. I am surprised to see Carla's name on the guest list. I thought she had quit and was looking elsewhere for work but I am hoping also that she will be with the group on the tour. Were you (or anyone else) able to get a translation of the Marjorie article? I could not get the article to copy and paste into Babelfish (from Sally's news page), I guess I need to do that from the web page it is from or from the original article. Only 4 more months until Toronto! I can hardly wait; guess we all need an Andre fix. Take care.
Marianne - sure hope you can get the concert on ZDF. It may be possible in your area. Glad Alice is coming along; still praying for her. Hugs
Hi Jeanine Ann. I was having the same problem as you as far as copying the article to Babel Fish. I have even starting typing the article in Excel in German to copy to Babel Fish, but that didn't work out because I when I tried to copy anything back from Babel Fish to paste into my Excel file, it pasted as one very long line.
Sunday I am going to get together with my friend Karin, who is German. I will see about getting her to read the article to me in English (it's not that long), and I will be typing it in English in an Excel file as she is speaking. Then I will copy the whole thing and paste it as a post to this blog. Hope that works ok. Hugs, Marilyn S.
Hi Marilyn, hope it works for you; that is a good idea. Thanks so much. Hugs to you.
Thanks in advance. Yes, the article is a photograph so there is no 'text' on it as far as the computers are concerned.
Jeanine Ann, I did get a translation from alta vista, finally, when I realized it was dutch and not german! duh me! You do have to use the link to the original.Sally already has enough of the english translated, but the whole page is interesting.
Hi Shirley. Where is the link to the original ?. I was clicking on the picture of the article in "News". I just found that if I right clicked on the picture when it was small then I could click on copy, however when I went to Babel Fish to psste it, it wouldn't let me paste it. ?!?!?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
much.
try this: http://www.bndestem.nl/spectrum/article1618520.ece?startshow=null
Hi Shirley. I think we are talking about a different article - the one on Marjorie and André that was in a German newpaper. That's the one I can't do the copy and paste maneuver to Babel Fish. Hopefully someone can figure it out. Otherwise maybe my German Friend can help me figure it out. However, thanks for the above link. That article is very interesting. Hugs.
Ah yes, the one that Rene sent. I was hoping he could translate, but if your German friend, can let us know. "Inquiring minds" & all that stuff ya know.
Lovely; thank you for the translation. You do "great"!!
I had wondered how to get the ZDN presesntations. Do you think AR productions could give some direction?
Or, we could email ZDN and that should be interesting...
Thanks again, Joanne
Dear friends. When I want to go to the ZDF network. I go ZDF.de on the Google searcch & it comes up right away. I think the program will be on at noon.
mountain daylight time so I will just have to see how it works Love Marianne
Hi, all!! I've had a WILD week!! I helped a friend move to a new apt and it may be that "I" will be joining her soon!! BTW, HOPE no one's eating when you read this part: The tenant above me had her toilet BOWL and PIPES EXPLODE while she was ON VACATION and water went everywhere!! NOW, there's "mold" developing and the ceiling in the bathroom's falling down INTO the bathtub!! There's NO WAY I'm staying in an apt. complex that has this happen!! Also, below this is a little section from ZDF.com that some may find interesting!!! Have a GREAT WEEKEND!!! Ellen
INTERNET SERVICES
On the internet, ZDF German Television is one of the leading content providers for news and current affairs in German.
ZDFOnline
ZDF.de offers background information on ZDF programmes and their protagonists; ZDFheute is the up-to-the-minute ZDF news service for internet users; ZDFtivi is the ZDF website for children.
ZDFmediathek: ZDF on demand
ZDF is offering a growing number of archived items and even complete programmes for on-demand viewing via ZDFmediathek, our integrated video streaming platform which also includes RSS feeds and Podcast services.
ZDF’s Mediathek is to be expanded from its current service of around a quarter of programmes on ZDF’s main channel to half of all programmes. It will be officially launched as a seven-day on-demand viewing service at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA), the industry fair taking place in late summer 2007. It means that ZDF's programmes will be available in the Mediathek as an any-time free-TV service for a period of one week after the original broadcast.

ZDFmediathek
Viewers who have additional digital equipment and special software, and also access to the ADSL and VDSL platforms launched last year, can already watch programmes from the ZDF Mediathek on their television sets. Viewers on the move can also access selected programmes from the Mediathek via video-podcast or UMTS on their mobile phones. The Mediathek has three different play-out features for PCs, television sets and mobile receivers, respectively: the PC Edition, the TV Edition and the Mobile Edition. All three versions draw on the same broadcasting material and are operated from one and the same production system, but they are technically geared to different reception paths.
Thanks, Ellen. This is interesting information. I hope we will be able to use it at some point to watch André.
Eeewwww, sorry. bad bad week. Hopefully it will lead to more and better things.

Sorry you had a bummer week, knew something was wrong. "Some days are diamonds, some days are coal" huh?
Hi Sally, I am sorry your week was so bad. Was wondering where you were. Hope you have better days from now on!
We love you. Hugs
Hello everyone. Al, a very Happy Birthday to you! I'm sorry I'm so late with my wishes, but I do hope that you've had a wonderful day. Have fun at your BBQ Sunday!
Sally, sorry your week was so bad! If I could have done anything to make it better, I certainly would have.
Take care everyone, and I wish for all of you to have a wonderful weekend.
I think today is Millie's birthday, the lady who was "counting backwards from 100"? so, Millie, wherever you are.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Have a very Happy Birthday Millie! Hope it's all you wish for with lots of fun, beautiful music and some yummy cake!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MILLIE! Hope your day is wonderful and happy.
I just love this little baaa baaa cupcake. It's too cute.
Hi everyone, I thought we were talking about two different articles above. I (and Marilyn) are talking about the one with Marjorie's picture on it. When Shirley said it in Dutch I got the clue because I knew this was German. We have a neighbor who was a missionary in Germany and she could probably translate the article. Will see if she is home today. I just thought about her. Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend. Hugs
hello all, hereby the original writes, it is much better for an translation. possibly, it works with your translation program.

Thank you so much René for the translations! It's VERY MUCH appreciated.
I do respect everyone's privacy in life, but we are a curious bunch, we humans, and it's nice to "know".
I speak for myself here, but I enjoy knowing when people are happy and when they truly are in love, it kind of makes my commitment to something worth it. It makes my enjoyment more than just a surface, momentary pleasure.
I believe it's how we grow, whether it be learning of our favorite maestro, or learning about a musical instrument, or a flower or whatever...
I say all that respecting totally Andre Rieu and Marjorie, and all JSO members and the crew. Without all of you we would not have this wonderful piece of musical happiness you bring to us!
Hi René. Thank you very much for your article and translation. Yes, I do feel André and Marjorie should have their privacy respected as much as they want and apparently they have approved this article. Marlene, I liked your discussion of us curious humans and why we like to "know" certain things. I agree. There is much that is negative going on in the world, so it is up-lifting to hear about happiness and love. I really enjoyed their book and respectfully written articles like this are a kind of continuation. Hearing about them and the JSO and crew is something that makes me feel good and really enhances the wonderful music I love to listen to. ;_)
Thanks René & Jeanine Ann for the translations. I think it was Terri who wanted to know how to make the picture larger. All you have to do is click on the picture, then click again to magnify.(I think I told Terri right-click) but that is not necessary. Just click on picture, then click again. Reading the story makes me wonder, and these are just my thoughts, how much do we really need to know about these two people? And really, all we really know is what they themselves tell us. I'm sure that Marjorie feels comfortable at some concerts, but not all. I've heard she prefers to remain in the background so we respect that. And that André does not like to be bothered before a concert, so we respect that too. And we respect the fact that they deserve a private life. Most of the people I know realize all this, but as with all, or most, "celebrities", some people seem to think they need a "piece" of them. I don't think that's right! I don't care for popparatzi (?) types or those who want to intrude. All people should be treated with dignity & respect and just because we know OF them doesn't mean we KNOW them. I am proud of all the André fans I know because I think we all know this.
I agree with you Shirley. I think too that we should respect their private lives. I know when you love someone as much as we love Andre, Marjorie and the JSO you sometimes want to know all about them and we forget where to draw the line so that their private lives remain just that - private. I guess we do not need to know everything, just the fact that they bring us so much happiness is enough.
Thank you René for the translations.
Hugs
Yes, Thanks also to Jeanine Ann for the translation. Thankfully most of André's fans don't pretend they walk on water, and are nice people. Your translation added to our enjoyment of the article and René's translation sealed it as Wonderful!
Hi Ineke, agree with you and I doesn't like any paparazis either. André and Marjorie gave interviews to the press. Ttherefore, it is for everyone, the two are a great team. We all love Andrés music. And also we love Marjorie and thanks her for all.
Hi René, I have never doubted your respect for André & Marjorie. Thank you for sharing with us and being a friend. I am sending you Kindness Hugs & Happy Wishes
I think most of André's fans are respectful to him and his family, and that's the way it should be. I would never think of attempting to interfear with their private time or dealings, or pester them when they are 'off' work.
I also appreciate their allowing us little glimpses into their off stage time. It helps me learn more about the massive amount of team work it takes to bring their concerts to life. Everyone has a role and function to perform.
In the end, it all works out to be enjoyable for millions of Fans Around The World. And THAT is something we can all be thankful for.
Hello friends. Just got tickets for Connecticut in 2008. Unfortunately they moved the venue from a theater to an arena but that's the way it goes. So, will go to Toronto in December, Bridgewater in May and who knows? Isn't it strange that we know many people who have tickets for 2008 and the "official" site has still not listed them? I wrote and asked about that and the answer was, "if you wish to know concert information please refer to our agenda page." Well, if I did that I would be sitting in the back row! Even though CT PBS has not had their fundraising drive yet, if you call them, the tickets are on sale if you're interested. How many of you will be in Toronto?
Shirley, you said it perfectly! Good Job!!
Marilyn Bas
Dear friends. I've been all over the ZDF site, & can get lots of pictures etc. Can't read German so I can't get the program to plau. Belated birthday wishes to Al Girard & Millie. Hope the
weather co-operates on Sunday for your barbecue. Maybe all the storms will have passed along by tomorrow. Will have to get a Eng/German dictionary next
time I'm in a bookstore so I can learn a few more words. Do know some French, but that's no help with German or Dutch
We have sunshine today, but it's much cooler, with frost in the lowlying areas
Love to all Marianne
Hi Marianne: I too studied French in school. Sadly, I did not have enough years of it, and have not retained much. I am at the point of thinking to look for language classes at our community college as I would enjoy being able to converse in another language. I think Walt Disney was right, It's A Small World After All.
Speaking of languages, I am having a terrible time with Dutch and even though I love it dearly because of you know who I am going to try German. Clyde had German in college and hopefully he can help me. He forgot a lot of it but maybe we can learn it together. German looks easier but I may be surprised! Besides Andre speaks German fluently. Love and hugs to all
Hi Jeanine. My friend Karin who is German and is fluent in German say she can read Dutch and understand what they are saying, so maybe German would work ok for you. Marilyn S
Hi Marilyn, I sure hope it will be easier and then maybe like your friend I would be able to at least read Dutch or get to learn it a litle better. Take care. Hugs
Hi again guys, René, I really do appreciate your translating for us, and when I mentioned papperatzi(still can't spell that word) I was thinking more in terms of how our celebs & movie stars & such are hounded and how rediculous we become about knowing their every move, whether it's "boxer's or briefs", or what kind of toothpaste, or what they had for dinner, stuff such as that. I didn't mean to put Andre in that catagory, I guess I'm just fed up with all the "inquiring minds want to know" type things.I was on a "soapbox" & I really didn't mean to infer that any of us do that sort of thing with André.Just celebs in general. And René, I certainly meant you no disrespect.
Boy, if my husband were still with us Dutch would be a snap, he was born up north from Maastricht and still spoke it well. I have learned a lot of Dutch but mainly just everyday words and sayings. I have some cassette tapes to study but no longer have a cassette player. Maastricht has a different dialect too I believe. If I were the kind of person to file a suit over my accident I could get to Holland with no problem, but I can't do that. It was an accident and even though the curb I stepped off of had a hole I just don't feel right causing more trouble and the manager where I live is not only my friend, she is my boss! Next week I should be getting a walking boot. It has been hard doing anything with crutches.
Our weather is perfect these past days and I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Isn't this month flying by? Maybe just me but I think summer is going too fast.
Take care,
Marilyn Bas
Hi Marilyn: I hope the foot is getting better.
I hope you all have seen the fantastic concert by André, you remember my short story in Vienna, with the outside in grinzing, and the Viennese ballet in the court castle (Hofburg). if it was not fantastic?. unfortunately, I cannot always communicate all. sorry
and thanks for all. I love you too
big hugs to all
René
Hi René. I wasn't able to watch it. I called my TV cable carrier and they didn't carry it. I went to ZDF website to see if they had a video or a streaming video. I clicked on just about everything around the info about André's concert, and I didn't find anything, except there was a place I could click on and see about 10 of some really nice photos taken of André and various guests. There is talk of ZDF having more streaming videos of events in the future. Maybe that could be an idea for future concerts.
concert
Rene, Thanks for all the good info, unfortunately, if it was Today, I missed it, sorry to say, I will be more vigilant next time. Kati
Thank you René for the information. I could not see the concert either. It sounds like it was just wonderful. Maybe they will have it on later as streaming video for a while that all of us could see it. Thank you again. You are a good friend. Hugs
We really appreciate all of the information you have given us. Thanks
so much. Mariyn S.
I would have loved to have seen this video René but I had to work
René, you are wonderful with the way you communicate to us, you make things possible for us to understand! Thank you so much. Hugs back
I watched Andre's show last night 11th Aug on ORF2. The finest show I have seen for years. Where can I find details of his future T.V. shows please, And is there a C.D. with Timo Rossi on the show please? If so how can I purchase a copy.
Is ORF2 generally available in the US? I don't see it on my cable carriers list of available channels. Thanks.
I believe that is a United Kingdom channel.
Maybe German channel? Kati
ORF2 Is an Austrian Channel! Just got it! Kati
Marilyn, ORF1 and ORF2 are Austrian public Television Channels, They are not avasilable in the US. Kati
Gordon & Trudy, which show did you watch? The only Rossi I'm familiar with is Semino Rossi. If he's the one he would be found on a cd, on a bonus track, of Songs From My Heart.I think there is also a cd named aus Meinen Herzen, which he also, according to Andre, sings Sakura.I know you can still get Songs From My Heart but I'm not sure about the other one.
In addition to Shirley's good information...if you like Semino Rossi's voice and would like to hear more of him...check out amazon.uk.co...the cd Tausend Rosen Fuer Dich can be ordered from there and it is superb! i got my copy within three business days...which i thought was amazing. my husband and i really enjoy semino rossi's music...sounds like you both do also! L
Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a wonderful day out there in the world! I'm listening to Toselli Serenade right now and it fits my Sunday just beautifully.
Just wanted to say hello and I'll see you later!
That is one the most beautiful music, I like it a great deal also, Listen to it, most every day! Kati
Hello Marlene, How are you? I am having a very nice day. I just love that song
Hi Marlene, Jeanine Ann, & everyone else. We were just watching the Romance dvd earlier. Had company most of the afternoon. It's hotter than blazes here so it's inside stuff for us today.I just went to the Spectrum page to correct another mistake I made! I've quit counting anymore........ I called the Netherlands Germany. yikes! I better start taking my smart pills, or do you think it's too late?
Never too late, Shirley! Kati
Hi Shirley: Although there is somewhere (not here) a misguided group who feels they can walk on water, and I in my own sin would like to drop them amid the middle of the ocean and say "Prove It", most of us know we make errors and mistakes. There is no harm in it. Nothing to worry about and certainly nothing to laugh about.
It is called being Human. Let he/she who is without error or sin, cast the first stone (or first 'haha' or 'lol').
Once I wrote to a friend that I was studying all night for a test, only somehow I left out the 'y' and it came "Studing" which my spell check changed to ""Studding"". Talk about being embarrassed!! I had to laugh at myself!
I make plenty of mistakes. Who said To Err is Human, To Forgive Divine?
I do have a more embarassing moment of my own, I cannot write about it over here, I have to tell You one of those days, in person!! It is about my English!! HUHBUHU!Kati
Oh Kati, I just read the email you sent to me. HAHAHAHAHAHA om gosh. That is funny.
(isn't it good we can all laugh at ourselves?)
Dear Sally, AMEN!!!!! welcome to the club!
No Shirley, I think you are smart enough. I make mistakes too so don't even worry about it. I LOVE that DVD. It is so beautiful and I LOVE the cover!
umm, I don't know Jeanine Ann. there's an old quote by George Gobel that just fits me to a T. "did you ever get the feeling that the world was a tuxedo and you were a pair of brown shoes?"
Yep...me too! I do make mistakes, not many, ha JK!, I make plenty. However, I try to overlook them as best I can and hope no one notices too much.
They do of course. Oh well. So, Shirley, you are not alone.
It's sprinkling a little here today, we need it. It's been an interesting summer, can't remember when it's been so cool in this portion of the season. It's about 65 today and has been in the seventies. We had that one hot spell a month or so ago, and now it's been mild. I would love it to stay like this because I'm not a "heat" lover. Weather here is perfect
I have so much to do yet, so I better get going! Take care everyone.
I have Andre music playing, so it helps me through my work
GOOD EVENING! No new photo show at this time, BUT a new WEB SITE! As some of you know my wife is latin from Peru in South America. I am one of the DJ's for dances at the Latin club here where I live and have many latin friends. So I can't leave them out (Actually I play some of Andre's Music at the dances in hope of converting some to his music.) So far I have gotten 8 people "hooked on Andre" and 4 are going with me to his concert in Jacksonville next April.
http://www.djbobphotos.com/djbobslatinoconnection/
There is some Andre music on this new site also. You have heard of the movie "The French Connection" well I guess I am now the "The Latin Connection" here in Palm Coast, Florida. Hope you like it(there more work to be done on it yet).
Adiós Amigos!!
Bob Ruark
Howdy Hello DJ Bob. Your post reminds us how every country shares it's unique beauty & people with this world. I celebrate our differences and enjoy our similarities. How I wish to travel the world!
What is the name of the singer Al told us about? Oh gosh, Brain Freeze. Isn't she from Peru? Beautiful Voice.
Yma Sumac
(finally I remember!)
One more singer...Remember Paul Potts who was shy and lacked confidence? The young man who won Britian's Got Talent?
Paul has a new CD out titled: Paul Potts One Chance
And he appeared on NBC:
BRAVO Paul Potts! Every time I hear this guy it gives me goosebumps.
Oh don't you just love that guy! He is so nice and his singing is wonderful. Wish Andre would get ahold of him and feature him in his concerts! I love to hear him sing Nessun Dorma. That has always been one of my favorites ever since I heard Pavarotti sing it over 10 years ago. But the amazing thing about this song that Paul Potts chose is the last line that says it all: "Vincero" I Shall Win. Here are the Italian lyrics
ITALIAN;
Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma!
Tu pure, o, Principessa,
nella tua fredda stanza,
guardi le stelle
che fremono d'amore
e di speranza.
Ma il mio mistero e chiuso in me,
il nome mio nessun sapra!
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo diro
quando la luce splendera!
Ed il mio bacio sciogliera il silenzio
che ti fa mia!
(Il nome suo nessun sapra!...
e noi dovrem, ahime, morir!)
Dilegua, o notte!
Tramontate, stelle!
Tramontate, stelle!
All'alba vincero!
vincero, vincero!
When he won the competition my husband and I both said that we would not be surprised to see him with Andre and the JSO one day!
Wendy,
Cocoa, Florida
OMG, I'm so proud of this guy, he's just great and he seems so nice. I so love to see someone like Paul Potts come from being totally unknown to where he's at now. I wish him all the best in his musical life and I know we will hear so much more of his singing. He gives me goosebumps also Shirley.
Thanks for putting this up for us Sally, we get busy in life and don't get the opportunity to check up on our things of interest sometimes. Now, we can follow along with his career and know it's going somewhere.
DJBOB, I think this is my very favorite of your web sites. The "Latin Connection", I love that!Love the music too, especially Andre's Marina song.I saw a young man at a concert do the Ricky Martin moves to that one. I thought i-yi-yi, wish I could move like that! I love the Latin music, one of my favs, Ricky Matin's LIVIN LA VIDA LOCA, MY, MY , MY! Like Gloria Estefan, and who can forget Julio Iglesias?mama mia! I will be back to check out this site frequently! Wish I could see Jamaica sometime. Had some family members who took a vacation there and they loved the waterfalls. I'll bet your club is a "movin' place"!
Hello everyone. You can add me to the not-always-perfect list, too. I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I spent most of the day visiting my German friend Karin. We played Scrabble and spent time playing on her computer trying to figure out the ZDF website. It definitely helps to know German. I also spent time this morning playing the "Highlights of 2003-04" which I just received. Lots of pictures and music videos of all the concerts and travels then. It was fun. I wish they would do that for every year. Marlene, I agree. I do like this somewhat cooler weather. Not much rain, but definitely more comfortable than being in the upper 80s to 100 +.
Hi Marilyn: I am with you on that! Last year our summer in N.Cal was too hot. We had a 16 day period of over 105 each day, with 117 being the hottest. And that is certainly too hot for me. I had to run the AC all day and night so the animals didn't suffer while I was at work..suffering..
I love those Highlights CDs. They were great.
Hi Bev thanks for the birthday greeting - I think I should have said "Come on the Bombers" alas I think they are finished for this year!
Hugs Norma
Have a very happy birthday Millie and many more. Hugs
Hi everyone. DJBob your new site is great. Love all those nice photos. I would love to travel more (outside of U.S.) maybe one of these days. Hope everyone has a beautiful Monday. It is cooler here this week. Last week our dew point reached 79 - never saw that even in Florida. We were soaked as we painted! But that is better (to me) than cold weather. Take care. Love you all. Hugs
Hi Jeanine, my painting is DONE!!! Over with!! Thanks God, I am still in one piece! Never again! It does last me a lifetime! I hope, You finish soon, it is hard work! Kati
Hi Kati, yes I hope to finish the outside soon but then comes the inside! I am so glad yours is done. Bet it looks beautiful. Hugs to you
Here I am again, popping in & out like a chipmunk, but hey, I gotta make hay while the sun shines!
Hi Shirley, I do not know the title of that movie, but I do remember His face! Good luck to You Tomorrow! I think of You all day! Kati
Hi Shirley: Will have you in my thoughts and prayers.
And just who are you gonna be lookign at with these new eyes??
Hi Shirley. Best of luck to you. I am
keeping my fingers crossed, but you should do just fine. I've known others
who had this procedure and they were very happy with the results. Hugs, Marilyn
Hi Shirley, the violin overturer you're referring to by Giaochino Roselli is the Overture to Il signor Bruschino wherein the violinists are instructed to tap their music stands. (London Philharmonic Orchestra has a disc with this on it which is excellent).
Shirley, all the best for tomorrow! And.....thank you for the Semino Rossi clip! Love, L
oh and Shirley...the Semino Rossi clip you forwarded to me is of MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SONG BY HIM...ich will mein herz verlien...a song eminating originally from south america (el condor...simon and garfunkel produced it as i'd rather be a hammer than a nail...but the real words are so much more and Semino Rossi sings the original words)...it is a piece about the condor...and how the singer wants to lose his heart with the bird as the bird flies high way up above the andes mountains and flies at such a speed with his wings fully extended, the singer wants to lose his heart and go with him soaring through the sky looking down below...a gorgeous touching song...as always shirley, you never cease to bless me! thank you so much, Lorraine
Hi Shirley, I wish you the best for tomorrow. I know all will go well. Prayers going up for Shirley! Love and hugs to you
dear Shirley Best of luck with your surgery. Think the John Wayne movie was Rio Bravo. After the surgery make sure you do the eyedrops bit faithfully as it
does help the healing process. More than likely if you have lens replacement
you won"t need glasses except for the fine print in the phone book. You also might find that your system will try to
cover up the foreign body, but that can be lasered off, not painful & it shouldn't come back!! I only wear my glasses when I'm reading but do need corrective lenses when it is really sunny out. This is because the pupil dilation is slower, but it tolerable. Love Marianne
Shirley--I, too, want to wish you ALL THE BEST when it comes to your eye surgery. BTW, I THINK, the John Wayne movie you're referring to is "Rooster Cogburn"--JW MAY have had other movies w/eye patches but that's the one I remember best. ALSO:
"Happy Birthday to YOU, Happy Birthday to YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EVERYBODY, Happy Birthday to YOU!!!!" W/what's been going on here in Canton, OH, I haven't always had a chance to wish EVERYONE a "Happy Birthday" on his or her special day!!! LUVYA!!! Ellen
I believe the other John Wayne movie was "True Grit" where he also wore a patch. Shirley, best of thoughts to you on your surgery day tomorrow! We will be thinking of you! Take care and a speedy recovery!
Hi Shirley, I wanted you to know I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for a huge success. I know you will do fine, and heal fast! Here is my prescription for you . . . Play Andre CD qv
I am a retired air line pilot 76 years old and have been an Andre
Rieu fan since I saw the first concert in Vienna. I was astounded be
the beautiful ladies in their beautiful gowns and there ability to
perform such beautiful music.
I have just listened to the concert at Radio city Music Hall for the
third time. I must say it was somewhat different from the usual Rieu
music, but still wonderful. I was most impressed by the rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Don't Cry For Me
Argentina."
Most of all the unbelievably beautiful lady that performed the song. What is her name? I must say she is a heart stopper.
I also have CD's Tuscany, the Homecoming, Flying Dutchman and have
ordered several others.
My regards to Andre Rieu and thanks for the beautiful music.
Bob S.
Hi Bob. The singer you are asking about is Suzan Erens. She is wonderful
as are all the other singers and the JSO, not to mention André. I too have been a long time fan, and you have lots of company. I agree with you on the Radio City Music Hall concert. I initially wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I have really enjoyed it very much. It is a little differend from other concerts, but there is really some great music there that I really like. Marilyn
Hi Bob S. So good to see you here at this wonderful site. Know you will enjoy talking with everyone. NY Memories is one of my favorite DVD's. I just love all the music, especially the beautiful solos by Andre. You will have much to look forward to with all the DVD's you have coming. Be sure to get the "Gala Concert" from Andre's web site. It is pure fun and Andre at his best. Take care. Hugs
Suzan Erens is a lovely young lady. She has sung with Andre for several years and has been engaged to Andre's son, Pierre, for quite awhile now. All of the female singers are so young and so talented. Andre has given them a wonderful start.
Hi Bob, did You work for United, by any chance? Kati
Hi Bob, I am a new member to this website as well, and I have learnt so much from reading other peoples comments. I have learnt from Sally that Andre is coming to Australia next year and can't wait. Welcome ... Les
Hello Bob S. Welcome to this wonderful site. It's a lot of fun with many friends to keep you happy!
Visit often and write a lot, we are all huge fans of Andre Rieu and his JSO orchestra, his family, crew and his whole operation. They do make us happy with their beautiful music and concerts!
Hi, all!!! I STILL haven't seen Andre's "New York Memories" yet and the "reason" I'm responding to this post is the mention of the "Radio City Music Hall!" Having been born in New Jersey, I've been there several times to see the premieres of such movies (yep, I'm "dating" myself, lol) of "Bye, Bye Birdie," as well as "A Majority of One," with Rosalind Russell and Alec Guiness (sp?,) among others! I've also seen the Easter and Xmas "stage" shows there, too!! Just mentioning the name brings back "great" memories!!! Take care!!! Cheers!!! Ellen
Ellen, those are terrific memories! I would love to spend Christmas in New York. I just want to experience it at least once in my life.
WOW!! I just "saw" the PBS "cut-up" version of "New York Memories" tonight (Tues., 8/14/07.) I say that b-cause here in Canton--and, I suspect, other places, too--that August is "membership drive" month and I've missed some due to that!! Since I already pledged enough for BOTH CD AND DVD, I'll just hafta wait 'til they get here to hear and see the rest!!! In ANY CASE, I WAS BLOWN AWAY by EVERYONE and EVERYTHING on the show tonight!!! All I can say is WOW!!!! Ellen P. S.: What's the word abt Shirley and the surgery????
Ellen, When André played "My Way" at Radio City Music Hall, it was as if the entire crowd stopped breathing, so we could listen to each note as it sang from his violin. It was one of my favorite pieces in the concert. Show Stopping Beautiful.
*Haven't heard from Miss Shirley. I am sending good wishes her way.
I agree. Personally I wish Andre would play more solos. NYC was a real treat with his playing three complete featured solos plus a lot of his violin accompaniment in other songs.
dear Friends Think the John Wayne character was Rooster Cogburn &he played the same character in both movies, In one for sure Kate Hepburn was a spinster daughter of a missionary & it was quite funny Even tho I couldn't get the Vienna concert on ZDF,
the still pictures were really nice &
enjoyed them thoroughly. Maybe one day I'll get to NYC, just to look, but for now there is lots of pics & stories of
the "BigApple". If you haven't looked at
Inge's miniatures, by all means take a look. She does such fine work & it is quite an intricate hobby. Love to all
Marianne
Dear Bob S. Welcome to this site. We are from all over North America & many other countries around the world. We are held to-gether by our love of Andre, his JSO, & his glorious music, I
will at a concert in Edmonton, on Oct 13th/07 & will betaking my alsmost 11 yr old grandson along with me, at his request, as he gets to play in the school band this year & his instrument if a bass guitar, & he has inherited his talent from his Dad, He'd decided it would be a good idea to learn about other orchestras & I think this is a good start. As long as they make music to please people it should be fine. You said you are a retired airline pilot?
Where did you fly for the most part. My late husband flew little planes, 2 place
cessna's & piper cubs. He startedd on an old cloth plane. the canuck, which was a cdn plane> He took my brother up for a flight & of course it rattled, thumped etc, so when they were back on the ground, my brother said never again
He'd gotten too old & lost hos sense of adventure. That was one small plane that had very few mishaps. Hope you surgery went okay Shirley. 24 hours & you should be able to see quite well,
Bye the way where is everyone, Hope it is just taking a rest or have nothing to say love to all Marianne
Two months until I attend my next Andre Rieu and JSO concert, and two more until I attend two more, but who's counting?
Me .. that's who.
Mine is a little longer wait, but I am counting also!! Kati
I am counting also Al but I will miss the two in two months so I have 4 months to go. Can hardly wait. I hope you have a wonderful time in Edmonton.
Shirley - how are you? I know it takes a few days since you must put drops in your eyes. I know you are getting ready to watch Andre with your new vision and that is exactly what I would do!
Ellen you sound really excited over there!! Hugs to all
Sally--Yes, I AM excited--almost EVERYTHING has "fallen" into place and I'll be headed to LV in abt 6 weeks for my Oct. Siegfried and Roy fundraiser and, as I THINK I said last night, I MAY head BACK to LV in December to do another one AND SEE Andre and the Orchestra, too!!! The "New York Memories" concert on PBS had me laughing, crying, cheering and dancing ALL NIGHT LONG!!! Yes, Andre's "My Way" and "Music of the Night" were "spectacular!!!" I noticed that Carla was there but whatever she peformed as a solo was "cut out" by the "membership drive" segments. Oh well, I guess I'll just hafta wait for the CD and DVD from my pledge to arrive!!! Cheers!!!! Ellen
"it's me,it's me,im home from sea".......just a note to let you all know I'm ok, eyes still not focus too much so will have a lot to catch up on later.surgery seems to have been ok, will see dr again next mon.thanx for all good wishes & prayers.you won't believe how long it took me to type this so i'll copy & paste it on here....
Dear Shirley,
Its good to "SEA" you again. Hope all is well and will be able to "SEE" better soon! A little Andre music and your be good as new!!
All my best
Bob Ruark (aka DJ Bob)
Hi Shirley, so good to know that everything went well for you. Just try to focus those eyes on Andre and I am sure they will heal soon. I guess you had just one eye done, huh? Take care. Hugs
Hello! I am still here. If you would like to hear some of the music when I DJ for the Latin club check out my new site:
http://www.djbobphotos.com/djbobslatinoconnection/
Not quite Andre Rieu music, but it does make people dance!! I have also added new countries and music from Bob Marley if anyone has heard of him. He was from Jamicia! Hope everyone is well. We how have our 1st hurricane of the season known as "Dean" hope he don't head this way!!
My very best to all my Andre Rieu friends.
Bob Ruark (cha, cha,cha!)
wow DJBob! "has anyone heard of Bob Marley"? YOU BET! He's the reggae king! I went on your site and I love that latin music. Can hardly sit still in my chair!Your merengue music is tops, and I really like that piece of music name, Stir It Up. I'd like to be at your club sometime just to watch the dancers! Such happy, energetic music, I think Andre would agree!
Dear Shirley, Glad to hear you are ok after your eye surgery. I am working on a Photo Show of a New Years Eve dance that I was the DJ. There you will see how much fun the dancers have! I will be adding more music on a regular basis(Both latin and Bob Marley and maybe a few mystery guests -stay tuned)
All my best
Bob Ruark
Hi Bob, I love your new Latin connection site! That is so neat to see you at work and the music makes you want to dance.
Hope too "Dean" will not be a problem for you. I remember all the years of wondering about those hurricanes but we were well prepared. I remember "Georges" coming so close that we had all the shutters up and then it headed west. But you just never know. I miss tracking them since I was such a weather enthusiast and still am but have nothing to track up here. Take care and thanks for the link to your site. Hugs
Dear Shirley. Glad the surgery went well
You will be back to normal in no time at all. From your description I don't think you had a lens replacement, so maybe that takes a longer recovery time.
It's nice here not too beastlt hot but someplaces are really getting the heat wave. It's been around 75 in the daytime, a nice breeze. & down to 35 at night but no frost as yet. Love to all Marianne
Good morning.Marianne, it's funny, I don't know if I had an implant or not.
Are You a one eye Bandit now? I am glad You doing great! Kati
Hi Shirley. Am glad to see that you are on the road to recovery. It's hard
when you can't see well.
Cheers.
Good morning Shirley, so glad you are back. Good to know you are seeing better. Now you can go watch Andre - I would keep the sunglasses on tho.
Hugs
Has anyone checked out the new photos on Andre's site? It is called "Fata Morgana". I can hardly believe all the hard work that is going into this DVD!! It will be spectacular. Check it out.
Hugs
Yes I saw it. It is really true that he is involved in every aspect. Nothing left to chance. I now have tickets for Toronto and Bridgeport, CT. That may have to do although if he goes to Brazil I'll be tempted. Better save my pennies although Brazil is very inexpensive.
VB
Jeanine Ann, isn't that amazing? Did you know there is a polka by Johann Strauss by that same name?
I just seen the pictures on Andre's site, they are something else. When You think, They cannot come up with something new again, then, They do surprise You! Hardly can wait for the DVD! Kati
Just found out that Andre & company are coming back to Albany NY on May 18, 2008. Are the Platin Tenore coming with him this trip? I love their voices and their harmony !
Hi Suzanne: I am with you. I think the Platinum Tenors are Terrific!
I hope they sign on for another year. Do you have their CD? You might want to think of ordering it if you don't, because it is very very good. I love each song, but my favorite is a medley of songs they call Deutsche Volkslieder. It is beautiful.
I certainly have their CD ! I wish they would make more, and perhaps indicate who sings lead on each song. Each one seems to have a different quality to their voice, but they blend so beautifully when they sing harmony. My favorite is Vertiss mich nicht - "Don't Forget Me", and I won't !
Hi Shirley, yes I did know about the Fata Morgana. I think it is something like a mirage. I always call it the refrigerator joke
OK ITS PHOTO SHOW TIME AGAIN! You get 2 for the price of one! Go to my Latin web site:
http://www.djbobphotos.com/djbobslatinoconnection/
Once there go to "DJ BOB at work" page. I have made these photo show of last years New Year Eve party. I know many have mentioned the people at the club I DJ for. Now you can see and hear how one of my parties was.(I dedicate these to Shirley who said she would like to be at the club to see the dancers. Well here is you chance!) Each show is different (most of the pictures are the same but the music is different and so are the special effects)
I hope you enjoy them. My next project will be a another Andre Rieu Show!
My best to all
Bob Ruark
"i-chi-wa-wa"! love it!thank you.......that has to be the fun place to be, no wonder you are always so happy!
Just seen my first DVD. Can you advise me if Andre Rieu is due to perform in the United Kingdom or Europe in the coming months/years. Thank You
A Message For André

I am sending you happy thoughts and big smiles. ~Sally~
**does anyone here speak Polish?
Has any of you ever seen Marjorie Rieu, I do not mean in her book, where she is 25 years younger, what she looks today?????//Users/invik/Desktop/Marjorie.jpg
This address does not work! Kati
Hi Inge, I'm sure you have seen the photograph in the newspaper article. That one must be current, no?
Forgive me ladies in gentleman...i will express an opinion here that might not be agreed with ...but i just have to say it.
After reading what Andre said about Marjorie (not suffocating him)....and that space is what gives them a "familiar" and "friendly" feeling...I'm completely perplexed! Boy, that didn't sound very complimentary to me. Maybe it was interpreted wrongly...but man, that is so NOT CHARMING! Truly responding, L
Hi Lorraine, Andre said the same thing long time ago, always says, that He does have some freedom! I really do think, just because We are Married, everyone needs a little space! Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion. That is one reason , a marriage can work. Just impossible to spend all 24 hours together! That would suffocate, anybody! Kati
Hi!! I knew that "quote" of Andre's abt Marjorie NOT suffocating him would get a response from some of us. I've known a few "married" celebs and there's a prob on BOTH sides (husbands AND wives)abt WHO IS the celebrity and the idea that the OTHER "partner" has the "right" or "authority" to "CONTROL" whatever the celebrity can do, say or be. A prime example on the younger end of celebrity is the "stage door mama!" Am I making sense here? Ellen
I honestly think that some words can have different meanings in different languages. I'm not so sure "suffocated" is really what is meant, at least not by Andre. I've read too many times where he says "Marjorie & I", did this, talked about this, worked on this, whatever, it's always "Marjorie & I". A team effort.Since she chooses to remain in the background, (her own wish) I choose to respect that.Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm not all that curious about her, at least since I read the book, that's all I need to know. I also think that even though Andre is on tour a lot and she is not with him, they talk on the phone every day & he can fly home in between concerts if he wishes. What they have done they have done together. I really don't think there's any competition for celebrity status, or any control of one over the other. They love each other and they are a team. This is just my humble opinion.
Shirley--You said what I was trying to say BETTER than I did. It's OBVIOUS that Andre LOVES Marjorie but Andre is multi-lingual and maybe something got "lost" in the translation? I've friends who speak more than one language and you can "visibly" see them "switch gears" when speaking more than one language in company or in public. I've seen it with Siegfried and Roy--they "hear" a question in English, translate it into German, think abt an answer and re-translate it BACK into English. I truly don't think Andre meant the word "suffocate," as we do in English. BTW, is the book avsilable at AMAZON?? Have a GREAT weekend. Cheers!!! Ellen
Ellen, I'm not sure about Amazon. I ordered the book from Andre's boutique. When I first saw him on tv I wanted to know who he was and a little about him, saw the book and got it.And I also agree with Inge,Andre is human, no god, even he himself has said he's just an ordinary person. All I'm saying is I don't need to know any more than I already do about the two of them. I love the music and that's enough for me. All I know is what I read in the papers anyway.I do like to keep track of what he plans to do next and where, but I don't need to know the private stuff.
Shirley, I do exactly the same! I do care about Their music, the beautiful concerts, and We know, what a nice human being He is. That is good enough for me! We, really do not have to know details of Their private life.He is a perfectionist, the concerts speaks for themself, the amount of work They put in each and every one of them, tell Us all! Kati
Hi Shirley. Exactly what I was thinking. I agree with you. I've heard that André talks to her a lot during the day when he is away. I think it must be in the translation. Anyway, He says too many nice things about her.
I agree 100% with Shirley! I know from person experience with my wife who is from Peru that ever in latin countries the same word has different meaning in several countries even though they all speak Spanish. Each country has their own meaning for the same word. For me all I see is the end results of all the beautiful concerts and music! To me what goes on in a marriage should be personal and not for all the world to put their own meaning for all that is said! They must be doing something right!
After all, as said by others we are only human!
My best to all, and may God bless
Bob Ruark (Hooked on enjoying life one day at a time.)
yes both comments make sense (ellen's and kati's). i don't know...maybe it is just me...the words "suffocate me"...are not words i'd want to hear from the man i loved. my husband and i have a business, we have two studios...side by side...he gets his space ... i get mine....so i understand that completely. it was just the word suffocating that surprised me.
anyway, back to the drawing board. L
I have quite a few interviews from the ZDF from André and sometimes he contradicts himself, after all he is human believe it, he is no God, he even said in one, he would not get married today, they only did it to please the parents, they would be fine without being married. That did not sit with me, but who cares, as long as he and his JSO make lovely music , his private life is his and if Marjorie wants to hide, so be it.
Hi everyone, I have been reading all the above and want to comment but it is almost 11:00 here EDT and I am falling asleep
If you get Marjorie's book, PLEASE get it from the Boutiquie. Amazon wants a small fortune for it. Night-night
Hugs
Shirley, nice words re: André and Marjorie's relationship. I agree with you.
I don't know that I should even be saying this, because of the privacy factor, and the more said the more that is said, the more that shall be said, etc.
However André and Marjorie wishes their life together be...then so be it. I feel sometimes that André, being in the public eye has to say things periodically to keep the human factor happy, however, it's none of my business and all that I can see are two people who have been together for a very long time, happily it seems, and so whatever formula they have, must work for them.
I was married for 33 years, spent only two nights away from my husband in those 33 years due to a business trip, and I was happy.
I have to say that now, looking back, I realize that I gave up a lot of my human right of freedom, in our marriage. However, that's the way he wished our life together be, so it was. I am "free" now after he passed away, but I'm without my beloved husband...so I don't think I've gained anything.
I look at André and Marjorie and I see a wonderful team, and their life together is very close even though they spend time apart. I would assume that their love between them is always close whether they are half a world away from each other, or right next to each other.
I truly admire them, and if André says there is that "suffocation" thing...then let him be comfortable and unsuffocated. I'm sure that doesn't mean he doesn't love her. So, why stir a pot that doesn't need stirring?
Ok...that's it. My comment was long, and I'm sorry if I said anything that I should not say.
P.S. I could say a lot more.
Marlene, as usual you put your thoughts so beautifully. I agree totally. André
and Marjorie are a great team and together have enabled us to have the wonderful music that we have. In reading the book, it becomes obvious that they have had a very loving relationship. Let's appreciate the music and let their private life be private. They seem to be very happy, so let's focus on the positive.
See ya in the morning Jeanina Ann.. I'm just trying to play catch up here, been gone all day and have realized that I'm seeing better now so I will read!
Hello Everyone. I have make some major changes and additions to both my websites. Please check them out:
http://www.djbobphotos.com/index.html
http://www.djbobphotos.com/djbobslatinoconnection/
On my regular web site I have added a trivia question I would like everyone to try and answer(It's very interesting)
On my Latino Connection I have added a Photo show "DJ BOB at work" I am inviting everyone to come and see the "New Look"
I hope everyone is well and I wish all my very best!
Bob Ruark (hooked on Andre!)
Hi everyone, a few notes between painting. Last night Marlene said everything so well. Except for a few business trips when my husband was working we spent every day together and still do. We go everywhere together and enjoy the same things. Moving back to Pa. has been a problem (mostly for me) but I came back because I told Clyde that wherever you are - I will be. That does not mean I am happy here but I have found something that does make me happy and we both enjoy this together (I am referring to Andre and his music of course). But making the decision to return is not without a price, it has meant many unhappy days and lots of anti-depressants but you do what you must do when you have a wonderful husband who love you and you love him.
I don't know what Andre and Marjorie have together. I would assume it is a great love for her to make the sacrifices she has made for him with the long tours and the work she does for the tours. I am sure he loves her for this but at the same time maybe the two of them need this space away. Like I said sacrifice does not come without a price but it also comes with rewards. Andre is very faithful to her (going by what he says and I believe him) and that would be the greatest reward for her. Andre, on the other hand, has his joy of making his music for others and that works for him. So I guess the two have something that works and that is all that is important. I would be a little different from Marjorie. I guess I would want Andre around all the time
In my opinion it is nobody's business how the Rieu's marriage functions. I would say, leave the subject alone. Just enjoy the beautiful music that the couple together have been orchestrating.
Hi Grace, nice to hear from you. Where are you from?
When you love someone you are naturally concerned about all aspects of this person but we are not obsessed with knowing every detail nor should we be. I am sure that whatever we should not know about Andre and Marjorie will never come out. I think "concern" is the key word here. We are fans and we love Andre and anyone close to him.
Hugs
You said it right, Jeanine, We do love Them as They are! How long, You keep painting? How much more hard work is left? I am happiest, that mine is done!! Kati
Hi dear Kati, we should finish the painting this next week. We will lose Monday because of rain but we can get it done after that. Just a little to go in the back and one pair of shutters. I will be so glad. So happy yours is done. Take care. Hugs
Dear friends Think a singer named Kenny Rogers said it best, in that what goes on behind closed doors is extremely private, so we can all love Andre en famille to pieces but do not tread beyond the realm of privacy. As a wife over 40 years, you do give up some of your freedom for a very good cause. You
can't have more than one head of the house, but I used to say I was responsible for the small stuf & the big stuf was a joint effort & it did seem to work very well. When I was widowed at 59 it was a whole diffrent
situation, & I think the worst of it all is that you don't have that partner & love to share the day to day happenings, but that is life & you may not like it but there isn't really a whole lot you can do to change things. Glad the eyes are getting better Shirley
When I had mine done they were very bad and night driving was the worst, but it's okay now. Hope everyone is well.
love Marianne
Well said Marianne. I used to work with a couple Manuel & Sharon. They worked at the same place, often the same floor and department. They rode in and home together and then had their free time together. I think I would have felt like André, wanting a little more room, but for my friends..it worked. They enjoyed each other's company and in fact they were fun to hang out with. So to each their own. It if works for them, so be it.
I wish all the gifts and blessings for any and every couple.
Hi, Everybody!! Remember when I "posted" abt a bathroom 'flood?' Well, it happened AGAIN!! This time, it started during the night!!! I'm SO LUCKY--I didn't lose much--I believe in HEAVY boxes and plastic bags!!! Maybe THIS TIME, things will STAY corrected!! I SO WANT this over BEFORE I leave in abt 40+ days for Las Vegas!!!! I could use some prayers!!! Have a good rest of the weekend!!! Cheers!!! Ellen
Ellen: My goodness. Enough! Now that you've gotten all the bad things out of the way, I think your trip will be un-eventful!
I'll add you to my prayers tonight.
~Sally~
Thanks, Sally!! It's why I'm up at Midnight, Sunday morning, at "vigil" over my apt.! It's a one-bedroom and there are TWO fans that HAVE to stay on until Mon. morning--to make sure EVERYTHING's dried out in ALL the rooms affected, so that further repairs can be done!! One of the rooms that has a fan is the bedroom and there's one right OUTSIDE the doorway to the bedroom, SO I can't sleep, even IF I wanted to--BOTH are making such a terrible racket!! Fortunately, there's a sofa and sofa chair out in the living room that I COULD sleep on AND my computer CAN play Andre now that a friend has given me a set of speakers!!! I will probably wait 'til morning to do so. We have a "noise" curfew that started at 10 pm and goes to 7 am or 8 am!! Again, I thank you, Sally!!!! Cheers!!! Ellen
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARLENE...
Ellen you poor girl. I am so sorry you have had all this trouble. I certainly hope everything dries out for you. You have my prayers and best wishes as you prepare for your trip. Hugs to you
MARLENE - my dear friend, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! Many, many more. May your day be as special as you are. Love and hugs

We think of You when Youy slice the Cake! Enjoy it, do not forget about Us! Kati
I would gladly share with all of you if I could!
Marlene, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Have a wonderful day.
Hope to see you in Portland, Oct 9. Less than 2 mos to go!
Hi everyone. I think we are starting to count the days. Enjoy that cake!
Yes, counting the days...
51 to be exact.
The plans have started, not only for the things that are definites, but also for the little things that need doing. Mainly, the the excitement of seeing Andre and the JSO orchestra again starts growing, faster now.
I'm anxious to meet all of you who have only been words on this blog for so long...it will be nice finally putting a face to the words I've read.
Marilyn, I DID enjoy the cake!!
Hi Marilyn - yes I think everyone is counting the days to a particular concert. Hope the time goes fast for you and for all going to Portland. Hugs to you
Happy Birthday Marlene!
Sorry I'm late, just got in.
Hope that you had a great and extra special day
and that you did indeed have a blast! Love, L
May I add my best wishes to L's and Marlene,
I DO hope ALL your wishes COME TRUE!!!
Cheers!!! Ellen
Well, I had a great day. Got some nice things and the cake was wonderful. I thought of all of you and indeed you made my day extra special. Thanks again, everyone, for the nice words and wishes!!
Don't forget to check OVATION for show times staring Andre Rieu
Dear Marlene Let me add the good wishes for a Happy Birthday.
I'm always late it seem, so I will just have to begin checking the B/D list.
Have a most happy day!! Love Marianne
Hi Marlene Many Happy Returns for your birthday from Australia - hope I'm not too late. Lots of hugs Norma
Thank you very much Norma! No, it's never too late.
To paraphrase what my late mom used to say: "For as LONG as gifts, cards and best wishes KEEP COMING the LONGER the HOLIDAY (or in this case, BIRTHDAY!!!!!)
Hope you have a VERY LONG celebration of YOUR birthday, Marlene!!! LUVYA!!! Ellen
Hi everyone, happy Monday to all.
Marlene - which concert(s) are you going to? Hope your day was special with lots of cake and MUSIC (Andre of course)! Hugs
Hi Jeanine Ann, I'm going to Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington concerts...wish that I could do more...but at this time, two is all I am able to go to. Yes, I had a great day yesterday...of course...music, and Andre of course
Hi Marlene, ok that will be wonderful. I was just wondering if you would be at any of the same concerts as I will. I am so anxious to meet all of the wonderful fans I talk with all the time. We all seem to be so far from each other (but only in miles) and it is hard to meet.
I watched "A Dream Come True" today. I hadn't watched it for a while and Clyde only saw it once so we watched it together. I just love that video and the music Andre used is just so beautiful. I especially love "Fascination" and "Jalousie" and the way they use it through the story. The ending is especially beautiful when he looks out over the city and say "My Maastricht", I had tears in my eyes. He is truly a happy person and I am so glad for him. He shares that happiness too with so many who love him and his music. Have I ever told you that he is the greatest and I just love him
Hugs to all
Hello everyone. One of Andre's buses arrived at my house today! (The one I ordered on his web site!!) For those who like "Columbian Cumbia music" I have added a lot of new songs to my Latin web site:
http://www.djbobphotos.com/djbobslatinoconnection/
I know Shirley said she liked the merengues I had. She should like these also. (I hope her eye problem is a thing in the past)
If you like latin music come visit. Andre's music is still #1 on my list but I have a lot of latin friends I am still trying to get "hooked on Andre". I think I added two more today who said they would love to go to one of his concerts. Got to get Andre better known in South America!!
I wish everyone my best!
Bob Ruark
Hi Bob, I've always liked Latin Music. So many of my friends watched I Love Lucy, because they enjoyed Lucy's slap stick comedy. I watched it because I liked Desi's Music!
Dear Sally, I grew up watching "I Love Lucy" I have a collection of these shows which I watch over and over and still enjoy them. Sounds like someone's music we all love and enjoy also doesn't it?
Lucy!! I'm Home!!!!
Bob Ruark (cha, cha, cha!)
Hi Robert, o yes ,I will be checking this out asap.did you know that Marley once said "To make music is a life that I have to live". Doesn't that sound a lot like somebody else we all know?
Dear Shirley, It sure does sound like somebody else we know! I read once a book by Wayne Dyer where he said "Don't leave this world with a song still left in you" When you have something inside you just have to let it out, especially music.
All my best
Bob Ruark
There are some new dates on the agenda.
Robert, I really do like this new addition. I especially like the Carlos Vives version of "LA GOTA FRIA". Sally mentioned Lucy & Desi, which reminded me of one of my favorite Latin music personalities, Xavier Cugat and ironically Desi used to be in his band at one time. I always thought it facinating that Cugat was originally trained as a classical violinist, and decided to go a different direction. Also another favorite of mine was Perez Prado. When I used to watch ballroom dancing on PBS they would use a lot of this music on the latin dancing. So yes, I love your "Latin Connection"!
As for my eyes, seems like everything is good. Can see much better now.Down the road will probably get the other one done, and Marianne, I did get a lens implant. Thank you all for your concerns and prayers. Now I can say "here's lookin' at you kid"!And Sally, was it you who asked "who I would "have eyes for"? Well of course, it would have to be my one who I sing to, "I Only Have Eyes For You", I believe his name is Dan, the man I live with for almost 47 years now.
Carlos Vives. I've got to look that up!
Dan is a lucky man.
Yeah, I keep telling him that!
You are very lucky Shirley, there is a wonderful Man, Dan, Who could stand it all with You! You really, Both L

Bob Ruark (Hooked on many things!)
OMG,thank you sooo much. sure does bring back memories. It was hard to sit still in my chair! The Andre Fiesta was great too.
I was thinking someone had a birthday today, I looked & sure enough, our friend from Australia, Bev & her twin sister.
Happy Birthday girls.
If Shirley doesn't mind, I'll add my "double"
'Hope All Your Wishes Come True' to hers to the Australian twins!!
! Let us know what your cakes looked like and have as MUCH as you want!! LUVYA!!! Ellen
Since, We are already on Tomorrow, We are one day late ot two?
Happy Birthday Ladies!! Let Us hear from You! Kati
Sorry ladies. Just noticed the other birthday greetings. Not very computer wise. But getting there. Quite a thrill getting a birthday wish from so far away. Will relay the messages on to my twin in Tasmania. Thanks Kati, Ellen, Mariene, Jeanine and Shirley. Love Bev.
You have an amazing memory Shirley.

I will try to survive. Want to take any bets?
Just kidding...I have plenty to do to keep me occupied, of course. No computer, no computer, no computer...I will survive this, yes, I will.
Happy Birthday to you Bev, and your twin, I don't know what her name is, so please wish her a Happy Birthday also! Hope it's a wonderful day for you!
If it over...then I hope it was everything you hoped for!
I dislike computer problems with a passion. I cannot get into my emails for some strange reason. So, I have to take my computer in to the shop tomorrow. Which means for two to three days (she said), I will be without one...
I will put some nice Andre dvd's on and won't even think about my computer.
No Marlene, not an amazing memory, have a little book I write the birthdays in, but then sometimes I forget to look. So much for good memory, huh?
Thanks Mariene for the Birthday Wishes. My twins name is Betty. My three children and their children all helped us ( my husbands' birthday is also the same day as ours)celebrate with dinner at a local hotel here in Perth. A good time was had by all!!!! Thanks Mariene Bev.
Happy Birthday from me too girls!
Hope it was wonderful for you both.
Marlene - oh that is serious, no computer. That is why we have two here. If one goes we use the other. Since mine is new it better not go! Are you sure your email program is working properly. Maybe it is something simple - never is tho. If you put some Andre DVD's on you will forget the computer. I know I forget about everything even dinner if my husband doesn't interrupt
I just don't know what is wrong with it. I can see everything, folders, etc., but not the new emails, and the "inbox", "deleted mail", "bulk mail" and the "sent mail" is not there...so something is going on. I can check my emails through my other email address, however, there are no saved emails in there, it's just the emails I've received today, and I cannot save them or put them in a folder.
So...I can't vote either!!!! So everyone get out there and vote to make up for me, please
Yes, I would love to have another computer. I want one for me and one for my brother
My computer people are excellent and I have total faith that they will get me up and running in no time.
But, I'll be without my computer...
Oh well, nothing I can do about it.
Maybe all You need is resetting Your E-mail? Kati
Hi Marlene. You certainly have my sympathy. Being without computer is no fun. It's like being without my car - the world is not right somehow. I hope you get it back quickly! Keep your spirits up and play some André. Cheers.
I second that emotion! Two years ago, I took my computer in for a tune up, and the man had it for 5 days. I was in withdrawals by the time I got it back.
Marlene, I will call you tomorrow. (wondering if she can read that) ~Sally~
Well when you get it back Marlene I have a new desktop photo I found today. Here is the link:
http://www.stars-celebrites.com/wallpapers/R/rieu.htm
It is free so all can have it.
Oh I would hate to be without a computer. What email program do you use Marlene. I use Eudora. If you have the same maybe I can help. Let me know. Hugs
I have Outlook Express Jeanine Ann. It's all I've ever had and I've always been happy with it.
Dear Marlene, Thats what I have always had too and never had a problem with it. Try going to Mirocroft at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?xmlid=fh;EN-US;oex
Seen if that helps.
DJ BOB
Hi Marlene, I have always disliked Outlook from the first moment I tried it that is why I switched to Eudora. Windows Mail comes with Vista and I guess it is ok, haven't tried it. I don't know anything about Outlook Express tho, sorry. Hope you get computer back soon. Will miss you. Hugs
Hi Marlene & Jeanine Ann: I've used both, and like both. I use Outlook Express the most.
My issue is I want a mail program that can handle heavy duty traffic. I have a lot of emails, rules, and conditions for my emails. Wish it was simpler. :]
Hi Sally, with Eudora you can set a lot of options, the only downside it costs $50.00 for the program but I like it a lot and I am comfortable with it by now. I don't know if it would work with the conditions you need for your mail but it is good with heavy duty mail. Hugs
I use Outlook Express & I like it just fine but my problem I've been having lately is that some of my mail gets put in my spam folder, but that's a feature of my cable server. So now I have to go in and check every few days to see what's there. It stays on the server for 14 days before it's deleted, but sometimes I've forgotten to check in time. Funny thing is that some mail which I've previously had no problem with, now ends up in spam folder. i-yi-yi. So,now I've set up an approved senders list. Hope that will prevent future problems. Just in case tho' I'll still keep checking.Think sometimes it has to do with subject line.
Dear Friends. This E-mail does get to be a bit of a nuisance. I have outlook Express but if I want to send an E-mail I have to disable all my security protection on the computer so hence I don't use it all that often. I would like to know just how to get the Paypal service, as I no longer have a viable credit card due to having to declare bankruptcy some three months ago. Sure is no fun not having a credit card, but circumstances arising from unexpectedly having to leave the work force, left me in a most untenable situation. No sense\in crying over spilt milk, just carry on as best you can & keep a happy face. I am an optomist so I always look for the best. prepare for the worst & fly down the middle, which is what I have done with my whole life, but I still find time to lend a helping hand to my fellow man/woman. Small services are just as important as the big things one can do in life. Hope everyone is well. Now it has cooled off almost too much here & there is a definite feeling of fall in the air. Seems that most everywhere is getting extremes. Like not enough water here & too much elsewhere. I do think mankind has some responsibility for global warming, but there is also the natural trend presently in place that adds to the mix.
Although there are things we can do as individuals which is of some help. Love to all Marianne
Marianne: I'm SO SORRY abt the bankruptcy and, although I haven't done it myself, I do know a few who have. Now, I hope these ideas I have might help you. I, too, have a situation where I can't have a credit card but I've found "loadable" debit cards, like www.greendotonline.com are just as acceptable as credit cards. I have a couple and they work quite well. When it comes to Paypal, does your bankruptcy allow you access to a checking or savings acc't? IF you have either, PAYPAL NOW offers a "debit/atm" card that's "linked" to either one. Can you NOT GET a savings or checking acc't? Try a credit union. I did and it works just fine with Paypal. I hope this helps. Let me know if it did. Cheers!!! Ellen P. S.: Something IS "SCREWY" if you have to "disable" your security system to send e-mails. I have one that's called "AntiVir Guard," that works with my Windows 2000. Please try that one, too
Dear Marianne: You are RICH in friends!!
Dear Marianne, You are truly an amazing person. You are so upbeat all the time and I am so proud to call you my friend. You should not have to disable your security to email. What antivirus do you use. Do you have Norton Internet Security on your computer by any chance? Let me know. Hugs
Dear Friends. I hope I didn't sound too sad about the lost funds etc, but I am allowed to keep my inccome & as time goes by I will eventually pay it all off
Sally, you are quite right in that I am rich beyond belief with all my Andre friends plus I know most of the people in Brooks, & I never pass by a person without saying hello. That's the effect you achieve when you grow up in a small town of 500 folks, & then I've spent my working years serving the public, so it's become an ingrained habit. Have my 10 year old grandson staying the night. He just came back from a four day camping trip with his Auntie Cherie, so he needed a shower & shampoo, so he's trying out my bath facilities. He'll be going to the Edmonton concert in Oct with me & that should be a fun outing. Love to all Marianne
Hello Folks,
Thought I would take this opportunity to leave a note. Don't get to see Mr. Rieu in person around here very often, in person, but I watch on tv (PBS) every chance I get and collect his music when available.
Want to wish everyone a wonderful weekend surrounded by peace and happiness!
Larry "Dutch" Woller
Hello Mr. "D" It is nice to see you here. (I enjoy your blog!) Please accept a big Welcome from AndreRieuFans.com
Hello Dutch, Greetings from Colorado, maybe We will meet one day! Like all the Andre's Fans at one of those Concerts? Keep writing us! Kati
Hello from Sunny California ! Where is everyone at and how is your day?
Hello Sally, been outside all day getting groceries and then GRASS which was so long that I have blisters on my hands from doing three yards and Clyde does the trimming. These poor neighbors cannot do it, one had a stroke and the other has a bad heart. I just can't stand by and see them struggle. Be back later. Want to clean up.
WELCOME DUTCH. Hugs to all
I would do the same Jeanine, You two are such nice people! Kati
{{{Jeanine Ann}}} Hope your hands are feeling better tonight. yikes. Your neighbors are lucky to have you next to them.
Greetings from Missouri Dutch! We love anything DUTCH, even the name.
WELCOME
OH, MY DAUGHTER'S BEEN ON MY COMPUTER!
Thank you Kati, I would definitely say the same about you. We had 5 days of rain and now hot and humid so we just could not get to the grass cutting but now it is done at least for a while. The sun came out and now it will grow all over again
Hugs
Hi guys, well this certainly isn't Dutch, but anyone ,besides me, likes good jazz, try listening to Jim Cullum's Riverwalk jazz in San Antonio.wow...that's good music! They sure played some good numbers last week from Porgy & Bess.
Hi Everyone. How is this for something DUTCH. The Rijksmuseum (sp?) in Amsterdam is undergoing renovation, so they are sending a collection of their old Dutch masterpieces (Rembrandt,Hals, etc.) on tour. They are now in the Portland (Oregon) Art Museum until Sept. 16. I am hoping to go and am looking forward to it. Friends have gone and greatly enjoyed it. I am not sure where it is going next, although it seems like I heard San Francisco.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
Marilyn, thank you for letting us know. I had to go check it out. You can see this collection online, http://www.pam.org/asp/special_exhibitions/object_listing.asp?exhibitionID=27
Rijksmuseum takes Rembrandt on tour in U.S. and China
On 22 September 2006, the exhibition Rembrandt and the Golden Age: Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum opened in the Dayton Art Institute in Dayton, Ohio in the United States. The exhibition was put together by the Rijksmuseum and consists of over 100 paintings and other works of art, including several works by Rembrandt, Jan Steen, Ruisdael and Frans Hals. This is the first time that an exhibition of this size containing artworks from the Rijksmuseum collection has been shown in the United States.
On tour
Exhibitions during the renovation
The main building of the Rijksmuseum is undergoing a process of modernisation, remodelling and renovation, which will be complete at the end of 2009. Until then, the Rijksmuseum aims to continue showing the collection to as broad a public as possible both within and outside the Netherlands. Therefore, the Rijksmuseum is showing masterpieces from its collection in the Philips Wing of the museum and loaning parts of the collection to museums in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, as well as organising travelling exhibitions to countries such as the United States, Japan and Australia.
Thanks {for the info about the Dutch Masters} Marilyn: I'm off traveling the web looking at the musuem which I had not visited in a while and wishing I was in Portland with you. Are you/have you seen the exhibit?
http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/meesterwerken?lang=en
That's a great web site Sally.
This is what I like about You ,Shirley, there is a subject on this Blog and You always come back with something so intelligent! Everyone can learn from You! Thanks! It is a beautiful collection! Kati
Thanks for the info, Sally. It's really an exciting event and too good to pass up. I heard that each viewer is given earphones (of some kind), and as they view each picture, they hear an audio description of it.
Hi Marilyn, thanks so much for the information. That is so interesting. I love art. Hey, speaking of Dutch Masterpieces
I am back painting today and it is so humid here and to be 95 or 96 so I will not paint long. Besides I am still tired from yesterday. Hugs to all
Where did You see the message? Kati
Hi Kati, on his first page where he usually posts it. I should have said where it was, sorry. Hugs
Thanks, Jeanine, I will check it again! Kati
Hi everyone, I was just thinking and I am now on the blog one year!! I forget exactly when I found all you wonderful friends but I know it was this month. That was one of the best things that ever happened to me because from here all good things happened in my life. Thank you!
Just imagine all the expenses, behind those pictures!? If these all going to be part of the new DVD, it will be an expensive one to make! They are beautiful, unique, colorful, and I just hear the beautiful music behind it. Kati
Hi Kati, I honestly think that this will be the greatest and like you said most expensive special that Andre has ever done. I cannot believe the work that they are doing on this. Wonder how long the DVD will be. I can hardly wait for it. Just when you think Andre should be resting before his tours, he is working so hard to bring us more pleasure. Bless his heart and all who work with him. Hugs
This is the time, He usually put the CD and the DVD together! I hope, it will be soon. Have no time, when They do have to travela lot. Kati
HELLO EVERYONE! Guess who? I have been busy (Doing what I'm not sure exactly)
I have made some MAJOR CHANGES!! to the following WEBSITES:
http://www.myspace.com/roberttruark
http://www.djbobphotos.com/index.html
If you have time to check both of them out and you will see what I mean and let me know what you think. Hello Dutch hope you can join us on a regular basis! I have been reading about some problems some of you have been going thru. You all are in my prayers! Sometimes the darkest hour is just before the dawn.
I wish everyone health and happiness!
Bob Ruark
Hey Bob, I loved them both, particularly djbobphotos. Lots of action and new techniques. Love all the photos. Superb, terrific jobs.
Bob< getting to be a Pro! Both very nice, great pictures, beautiful music! You got bored? HUH? You came up with the newer idea? Nice. Kati
Hello everyone, No, I don't have my computer back yet. I'm at my cousin's and he so kindly is letting me use his computer. I'm in total withdrawal now, as you can imagine. I cannot play my Andre music because I have all my cd's loaded on my computer. I don't have a normal cd player at home because it quit working, and I could see no reason at the moment to replace it because I have it all on my computer. So, you can see that I'm beside myself.
Marilyn, thanks for the information about the exhibit at the Art Museum, it sounds like it would be really interesting. I've went to Powell's Books and searched the Dutch and their artworks, which is incredible. I would love to see this show "Rijksmuseum", but we shall see if I have the opportunity. As you have all said, anything "Dutch" is in!
I hope you are all having a great weekend. I'm very frustrated with my computer right now, so I'm watching a lot of dvd's, Andre of course, which helps a lot, I'm painting some new birdhouses, so that's keeping me occupied, a little, doing some major cleaning/sorting in my house, which is boring but necessary.
Sally, I would love to have a call from you, if you don't call me soon, I will call you!
I feel a little better now that I have been able to communicate with you. I won't have the computer back until at least Monday.
It's locked me out for some reason. When they called me yesterday they said that they needed the password to get on, so I gave it to them. When they didn't call back I assumed they were working on the problem. I called today and they said that they couldn't get on because it wouldn't accept my password (duh, why do you think I had it in there?), anyway, the tech won't be back until Monday.
Tonight, if I hit the $300 million that the Powerball jackpot is up to, then I will buy another computer. Ok, enough on my problems.
Larry "Dutch" Woller, from Illinois, Welcome! Anyone with a name like "Dutch" must be a nice guy!
We are a friendly group, would like to know how you heard of Andre and all those nice details!
Marianne, you are a very good person and it's a pleasure knowing you. I feel that no matter what, you are a credit to society.
I just got my Portland concert tickets!!! One beautiful thing that's happened this week. I'm so happy. I'm in row three, don't know where seats "31 and 32" are, but I just remembered that I'm on a computer...so, I'm going to check it out!
Well, I guess I've said enough for now. Wish that I had more news to tell you. I feel like I'm forgetting something, but I'll try to get back another time.
Take care everyone and I miss you all very much. Thanks for all the help on my computer problem, however, I'm not too good with these situations, so I'm hoping my computer tech will get me up and running soon.
Love and Hugs to all of you! Take care.
Hi DJBob, I just love the changes you made to your web site DJPhotos. I love those photo trails and that was fun with the 5 favorite waltz's. 1) Gypsy Princes, 2) Blue Danube 3) Lagoon Waltz, 4) Emperor Waltz, 5) Gold and Silver. I did it fast so I hope I am right. I really do like the changes. Keep up the good work. Hugs
Dear Jeanine, You are a true Andre Rieu fan. Can't get any of Andre's music past you! Happy one year on the blog!
All my Best.
Bob Ruark (Back to work?)
Jeanine Ann, you have a good ear! I wasn't sure about #1.Robert, you have really "new & improved" your sites. My favorite though is the photo site, not only the neat photos, but all the great music of course and I can get my latin "fix" anytime now! Thank you.
Thanks Bob! Shirley if you like Latin did you ever try vocal Julio Iglesias? He has some beautiful and romantic Latin music. I will try to get you a link after I get back from church. I have always liked his singing and he does some tango Latin songs also. Hugs
Oh yes, I really like Julio, and also his son, Enrique. But I like so many different styles and types of music, it's mind boggling, even to me. Just depends on my mood at the time.In my "latin connection"(to borrow Bob's phrase), anywhere from Mexico to Argentina, so many pretty melodies. Tito Puente was a favorite of mine, & now his son follows
his father, in fact there's a cd of his I'd like to get, "In My Father's Shoes". I especially liked Oye Como Va. Then there's Carlos Santana, Jose Feliciano, I like Heitor Villa-Lobos, Susana Baca, such a variety and that's only in a small catagory. Whatever my mood, whether it be to dream, to dance, or just relax and do the easy listening thing, some kind of music is usually going on. Then there are those rare moments that even the sound of silence is heavenly. This morning I was listening to an older tape I have of the group, Chicago, when Peter Citera was the lead singer. Do you remember his POWER OF LOVE? He does my very favorite version of that song. I think it was in one of the Karati Kid movies. So, with all the varieties of music there are and all the varieties of musicians, I will never be musically starved!
Shirley--Is POWER OF LOVE the one he did as a "duet" with Amy Grant? If so, I've been trying to find a copy of that and none of the usual places I go to has it. Do you? If ANYONE, has a copy of it, I'd send a "blank" cd for you to "burn" one for me. Please let me know. Thanks. Ellen
Ellen, the only duet I know of that Amy Grant did with Peter Cetera was a song called THE NEXT TIME I FALL IN LOVE. You might be thinking of her husband Vince Gill when they did a duet called HOUSE OF LOVE. And... one correction I have to make, I got the Power of Love wrong, that was a Celine Dion song, although I like it by Air Supply. The song I was originally thinking about is GLORY OF LOVE by Peter Cetera.
So, Ellen, you might try looking for HOUSE OF LOVE by Amy Grant.I don't have that one.
Dear Jeanine, I have heard of him. (Julio Ingesias) I am adding a page of his songs to my Latin site and should be there today. Check there later.
Bob Ruark
He does have a beautiful voice! Kati
LISTEN TO "JULIO"
http://www.djbobphotos.com/djbobslatinoconnection/id27.html
ENJOY!!!
Bob Ruark
Bob, this music moves You blood also, doesn't? Kati
That's how I feel too Kati. I love the latin beat. Who could sit still while listening to this?
I always like Latin music also. I think, it has the similarity to the Csardas rythm and tempo, moving Your Blood and Legs!!Kati
Thank you Bob. Glad you included "La Carretara". That is a beautiful CD. I met Julio in the late 80's and saw many of his concerts. He is a nice person and gives a great concert. Haven't seen him since 1990. Thanks again. Your pages are really great. Hugs
Jeanine ann, you got to meet him? wow! Isn't he romantic? I have not yet heard that song La Carretera. I love that! I just gave a great big sigh as I listened. Do you think I might be able to still find a cd with that on it? And Bob, I also liked the Rumbas medley. I keep thinking, who will he add next.
Shirley, I am sure He will come up with somebody!!Kati
Hi Shirley, I will send you the song "La Carretera". Just email your home addy to me. I will be glad to do that for you. Any other songs you would like to have? Hugs
Dear Shirley and Jeanine I have just added to my latin music(only Julio for now. The rest later a way to download the music. Click on "download file" when the music slider comes on click on the down arrow on the far right then click "save as source" and then you can download it on your computer anywhere you choose as an "mp3" to play over and over again! Hope I have been of help. I have many, many songs and I am open for request to add to my site. Just let me know. What are Andre Rieu fans for but to help one another!!
Let me know if this works, THANKS!
Bob Ruark (Hooked on being of service!)
DJ Bob: You are a great example of what an Andre Rieu Fan should be. You are always nice to everyone. And, we love your site and how you share you love of music with the world.
Dear Sally, Thank you so much for your kind remarks. I kind of look at Andre as a role model as I know his love for music and he loves to share it with the people of the world! When I DJ for my club I get the most enjoyment from watching people have a good time and that I am doing my small part to make their lives a little happier! Andre is right music can reach the very sole of a person. As he also says with music the world would be a much better place if everyone kept a song in their heart. Thats why I try in my small way to help others to discover what knowing and listing to Andre and the JSO can do for their lives.
My very best to everyone
Bob Ruark
I heartily agree with that!
I have just discovered you can down load any of the music if you click on the down arrow on far right as I explained before on any of the songs on the pages, try it!
all my best
Bob Ruark
Thank you Bob, you are always so kind to us. I always look forward to going to your site because of your willingness to share. What good is having anything if you cannot share it.
Have a wonderful week. Hugs

Yes, this is an awful tragedy. That anyone would start these fires on purpose is beyond my understanding. To destroy such history and beauty. I really hope they get some help from other countries to fight these fires.
You all forget the Birthdays from Ruud was Aug 24. and Aug.26 from Teun. Also Carmen. groetjes
Rene, I see we've forgotten quite a few of the JSO. I've forgotten to write them down and there are many I still don't know anyway. I'm not sure the list was ever completed. So... Happy Birthday to Ruud, Teun and Carmen. We love all you guys. You make beautiful music!

I can't wait to see what music Andre plays when he visits Mexico and South America(He usually plays music from that country and there should be some new Latin music!)
ENJOY!!!
DJ BOB!! (At Work)
AHA! Puente & Feliciano! And also I like your choice too DJBob.I love that song too. Roberto, gracias mucho.
Hi everyone, did you know there was a study taken on eye color and intelligence. BLUE eyes are said to be smarter than BROWN eyes. Don't feel bad if you don't have blue eyes - they didn't even mention green
Hello to the "DID YOU KNOW" dept. What if you have hazel, like me? Kind of leaves me in the in between class doesn't it?
I am the same way Shirley, mine are Hazel also, We are just in between! Kati
I know, that is how I felt with green eyes. I guess they just took the two most common eye colors, however, maybe they didn't give us a complete story of the findings. Hugs
Jeanine, I have blue eyes!(I think) They look blue when I look in a mirrow!
Bob Ruark
They say eyes are the windows to your soul, but can they also determine how smart you are? A new study says your intelligence may be based on your eye color.
This eye opening study from the University of Louisville said blue-eyed people are smarter than those of us with brown eyes.
If you have blue eyes you're better at strategic thinking, such as studying for tests, compared to people with brown eyes.
The researcher looked at three different studies dealing with eye color and ability. Other findings: those with lighter eyes tend to be more successful at skills that require time structuring and planning, while dark eyed individuals are better at skills that require speed and quick reaction time. Optometrist Cheryl Jost isn't sold on this study.
"The iris is the colored part of our eye and the amount of melanin deposited there," Jost said. "I would be very surprised if there was any link between brain processing and IQ or anything like that."
The researcher acknowledges that more study needs to be done. Until then, the debate continues.
Whatever your eye color is, it's important to get an annual eye exam to keep your eyes healthy, and don't forget to see about having your children's eyes tested too.
I think the full study says even more. Such as those best in math and those best in music/arts (all generality)
And there is this:

That should have been a
Also did you know: Milton Hershey of the Hershey Foods in Hershey, Pa. had tickets for the Titanic in 1912 and at the last minute his beloved wife took ill and he had to cancel the trip! He was only 4 years into his dream so what would have happened if he had taken that trip? His wife died 2 years later of a mysterious ailment. Hugs
That last bit of information on Mr. Hershey was given to me by my husband who is an authority on the Titanic, not officially but he knows everything about that ship from stem to stern and everyone on it. That information about Hershey gave me the chills. Hugs
That was interesting Jeanine Ann. I loved the movie Titanic. Branson, Mo has a Titanic museum but we've never gone yet.How did your husband come to be interested in the ship?
Dear friends. Thanks Terezie for the new pics of Andre & the lady in pink.
Thought she might bre Mirusia, but am not sure. She is also so very pretty. I
didn't know the fires in Greece were man-made & that is a terrible tragedy as
it is all history that belongs to the world. Comes under the same heading as the destruction of the giant Buddhas in Afghanistan, which also were historic
works of art & as such belong to all of us. I for the life of me cannot understand how destruction of a country's history makes their Faith any more or less important. We have to have tolerance for other folks culture & conduct ourselves accordingly, & it does not mean we have to agree, but we can tolerate. If I have learned anything during my life, it is that we are all different, & that is a good thing, what a boring world it would be if we were all clones of one another!!
Even identical twins have little differences between them so each of us in unique, & we can practice the Golden Rule, & then we can appreciate the
differences & love each other as we should. Hope I don't sound too preachy
but this is something close to my heart
& if I don't know that someone is different from me I don't ask them to be the same. I try to understand their point of view & go from there. Hope all
is well with everyone Love Marianne
Dear friends. Forgot to post Birthday greeting to Ruud, Teun & Marlene, but the good wishes are there if a bit belated Love Marianne
Sacramento, here I come!! I got my tickets Today, Very early!? Kati
Kati, I still don't have mine for Portland! Very timely, good and early! Sally
Good for you Kati! Are you seats good? I sure hope so. Usually they don't send the tickets until the last moment and make us worry. I know you will have a GREAT time. Hugs
Yes, Jeanine, I will make the best of it.! Meeting some very Fine and Lovely Andre Fans?? Kati
COME CHECK OUT PAGE 4 LATIN MUSIC!
http://www.djbobphotos.com/djbobslatinoconnection/index.html
A lot of this music I play when I DJ at dances. More to come later.
ENJOY!!
All my best! Bob Ruark
AHA! I'll have to go back later & listen to more, but I did listen to the beautiful"La vie en Rose". My goodness,I haven't heard that one in ever so long.
Beautiful music Bob! Keep it up! Keep us moving to the music, so very soon comes Andre's DVD and CD, hardly can wait! Kati
Many happy birthday wishes to Ruud, Teun, and Carmen. Treat yourselves to something extra special and have a wonderful day.
dear friends. Thanks DJ Bob for the latino connection, but for some reason I can't get the whole thing to work so I guess I'll have to start with the deletion of excess files & hope I don;t delete something I wan to keep. Girls, I don't think for one minute that one's eye color has anything to do with one's
intelligence, after all many of our top artists inventors etc had brown eyes. Mine are hazel brown flecks with an outer round on the iris of dark green.
Just think of all the native folk around the world who have contributed to society thru the arts etc who are brown eyed & another thing blue eyed folks really have to wear sunglasses in
the bright sunlight, so I think that could be filed in the not quite right file. Hope everyone is well as I am myself. Missed Birthday wishes for Carmen so I'm going to have to check out the birthday list a little more closely Love to all Marianne
i'm with you on the eye color marianne! einstein's a good example and one could list hundreds more...
studies try to figure out things...give us results...and then change them ...continually...
observation is excellent wisdom...
einstein, freud, da vinci, george washington carver, salk, martin luther king, oprah winfrey...and marjorie rieu...all brown...all are exceptional!
Thanks to all for the Birthday wishes for Rudd,Teun and Carmen. Carmens Birthday is Aug27.
Dear friends
first of all Best Happy birthday to Clyde, JeanineAnn's husband, Ha!! For once I am early.
Also Marilyn Bas, how is the ankle, not much fun when you break a bone!! I have only cracked a rib many years ago & that was annoying when I laughed or had to cough, but it got better, Sud we had a deluge & we were going to friends for a Newfoundland dinner, The food was different but very delicious, They are in a just built home so no landscaping as yet. The soil is mostly clay, so when it gets wet it's a quagmire. Slipped & very nealy landed on my rear. Missed that but my shoes were just caked. Glad I'd worn shoes I can put on the laundry. "Newfies" use a lot of salt cured beef so the food is more salty than I like. Due to the B/P & fluid retention my salt intake is very scant, so now I can even eat a boiled egg with no added salt. Enjoyed the food
but ate with disgression, & no swollen
ankles so I guess I dodged the after effects of too much salt. My friend Kathie & her Mom Thelma, also have a turkey as well. The veggies were cooked with the meat, carrots, turnip & potatoes, then lifted out for mashing. Yum!! Some of the meat juice also went in the turkey gravy & that was really tasty. There was nine of us altogether
so it made for a very nice dinner party
enjoyed by all. I'm up at the crack of dawn to-day 5:30 a.m. Waiting for son Alan to show up with cigs. Will really have to make a better effort to quit the things, which so far haven't done my lungs a whole lot of harm & I've been puffing away for 60 years. Do have a bit of bronchitis, so it will be curious to see if that goes away after I kick the habit. Need worry beads to keep my hands busy, when I am on the phone Love to all Marianne
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLYDE !

Hi Marianne and everyone. Ankle is healing, now I have a new shorter brace thing, it laces up and has all kinds of straps with Velcro. I started Physical Therapy this week, and that goes on into October. But, it is healing and not hurting as much. I will survive, I have tickets for the Portland concert, and there are 5 generations of us going. I am sorry to hear you fell in that mud, sounds yucky! I am so glad you didn't do what I did.
I wish you luck with the cigs. I have quit and started back so often. Still grab one once in awhile.
Happy Birthday Beautiful Carmen, you are a doll!
Kati do you know where you are sitting at Portland concert?
Time is going fast!!
Marilyn B
Marilyn it is SO nice to hear that you are healing and will be able to enjoy the Portland concert with FIVE generations! What a grand evening you will have! Lorraine
Hi Marilyn, I do not have any tickets to Portland, I am not going, since Andre and company coming to Denver with the same concert. I am going to Sacramento, that should be more for Christmas! Kati
Hi Kati, Somewhere back I thought I read that you were coming to Portland. Darn, but you will love Sacramento, that was such fun last year with Sally and all the fans. Maybe he will bring the "snow" again. Sacramento is where Andre's bus was following us in Sally's car, what a "rush" that was.
I wanted to go, but He is coming to Denver, and it will be the same Concert, like the Portland one. Maybe next year?? Kati
Thank you Marianne from Clyde!! He said to tell you that was very nice to think of him. Hope you have a beautiful day. Hugs to Marianne
Well I see I am late again on catching up! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLYDE. What color are your eyes? You have to be one of the smart ones to have chosen such a lovely lady for your wife!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLYDE! ENJOY YOUR DAY TO THE FULLEST! Kati
Dear Shirley and Kati, Clyde says THANK YOU for the birthday greetings. Shirley unfortunately his eyes are brown but thanks for the compliment!
Hugs to you both
SALLY, Clyde says thanks for the beautiful cake and birthday greetings! You are all dolls! Hugs
Happy Birthday Clyde. Sorry I am late. Jeanine Ann...give your brown-eyed guy a kiss on the cheek from all of us ladies and a big hug! Happy Happy Happy Birthday!Lorraine
Clyde says thank you to Lorraine for the nice Birthday greetings. I will give him a big kiss from all of you. Hugs to Lorraine!
Well I won't be ordering the Efteling DVD. I saw the pictures on Andre's site. We all have our phobias, and mine is snakes. (sigh)
Al, my husband feels the same as you about snakes, but we will order the dvd & just try to FF thru the snake part.I think the rest of the scenes and music will be well worth the watching.
I Second, Third & Fourth that Al. I am no fan of snakes. I have never found them to be exotic or sexy when used in any films or as props. I only find them scary.
I was bike riding out at Rockville with my oldest daughter, when I yelled to her to put her legs up. I held mine as high off the ground as I could and found myself screaming for a few moments. (silly me) I had noticed a Western Diamond Back about 4 foot long sunning himself against the edge of the paved path.
You can believe me, we went home a different route. EEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Wow! Sally, I would have gone nuts if I had seen a snake that close, glad he didn't bother you. What did I miss? Snakes in the new DVD? Man, sounds very different from his other shows. Long as they don't come to Portland with them! -)
Marilyn, there's a BIG python looking snake in one of the pictures in Andre's news section! Now I don't care what size they are, I don't like them either. A couple of summers ago we had a nest of copperheads in one of our sheds.A rental house on one side of us had not mowed the their yard while the house was empty. When someone finally did, they came over and told us they had seen a few copperheads heading through our fence. Well they showed up in our shed, I even ran over a small one with the mower. Talk about freaked out! We finally got rid of them (I think) because we haven't seen them since, but we did throw a whole package of mothballs into the shed.
I have to start the day with wishing you, MARIANNE,a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY.all good things for you today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

Marianne, Marianne, Marianne! HAPPY BIRTHDAY. May your day be filled with sunshine, laughter and love. You are a beautiful lady who inspires all of us! Love, Lorraine
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARIANNE! I HOPE YOU HAVE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE! ENJOY IT! KATI
Happy Birthday, Marianne. Wishing you the best now and forever!
Marilyn B
Hi Shirley, OH MY, I hope you don't have high blood pressure. I would have freaked out finding those snakes in the shed. This summer when they mowed a big field across the street, one of the neighbors found mice. I freaked out about that. I am not sure which is worse. I know people who are afraid of spiders, and they don't bother me, I just ignore them. Now flies, I chase down and swat. Yuk
Wow 10 years since Diana died, I remember that time very well. Sad, I really liked her.
It's Photo Show time!
This photo show is "Out of this World!"
http://www.photoshow.com/watch/Mj4vP2HH
Be sure and what it on the LARGE screen.
This is about another one of my interest that I took a course on in college.
Do ENJOY!
All my best to everyone
Bob Ruark
That was really beautiful Bob. Thank you so much. I always enjoyed Astronomy. Keep up the good work.
Hugs
"a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away"........ I can hear John Williams playing now. The celestial bodies can make one feel very insignificant. Did any of you happen to see the lunar eclipse the other night?(or morning).
Hi Marianne. Have a wonderful day. Do something fun and enjoy.
Hugs, Marilyn Smith
Marvelous pictures, Bob! I loved them.
I too took an Astronomy class is college. I have always been interested in it. A very fun photoshow !
Dear friends. I had a great birthday. Went to my daughter's for dinner & black\forest cake, Yum. Just got home & it is now just 10:40, so will be quick
with my post. Thanks so much for the good wishes. The musical card from sally is so cute, I've already played it twice & will go back for another go around. DJ Bob the universe pics are awesome. We sometimes forget how huge & varied the skies are above us so we need to take time & enjoy. To-night is just past full moon but it is still well
worth a good look see. For me it has been a great day so I can't complaing, which I don't do anyway. Always try to find a silver lining somehow. Love to all Marianne

! Sally, you work much too hard, but I know how it is, been there, done that.Marianne, sounds like you had a great birthday. Marilyn, was it you who ask if I had high blood pressure? I'd say no, 125/70 is not bad. Hey, I'm missing Marlene!
We were introduced to Andre's musical genius about 6 months ago. Now we cannot get enough of him. Brilliant
Reginald in Glynde South Australia
Hi everyone, Marianne so glad you had such a wonderful day - I love black forest cake!! In fact I love cake! I love all sweets a little too much.
Sally that list is amazing, so nice to know all the countries who visit the site. Painting is just about finished -one little section to go and that is it. We even got the highest peak painted thanks to our neighbors big ladder. Should finish today. Yeeaaaah
Shirley your blood pressure is perfect. Mine is usually around that except when I go to the doctor. He calls it the white coat syndrome. Of course if I am watching Andre or getting ready for a concert then all bets are off on normal blood pressure
Have a great day everyone. Hugs
Hi Reginald
So good to hear from you. We are so glad you found Andre and his JSO. As you probably know Andre will be touring Australia in December, 2008. Hope you will get a chance to see and hear him. Come back to this site soon and for the official Andre Rieu concert agenda check www.andrerieu.com
Hugs to you
Dear friends Talking about B/P. I try to keep mine below 120/70, because of the pesky aneurysm, & the less pressure one the kidneys the better, The creatinine level is still decreasing, so
at this point no danger of kidney failure. Will find out next week if the aneurysm has stayed put or gotten largerWhen & if it gets to 4.25 CM. theywill patch it with a dacron patch just like a rubber tube. Re the snakes,
don't much like them myself especially the venemous ones like rattlers & copperheads. In Kelowna, one of my tenants had a ball python. Took him to a grade two class & the kids were very curious. He was very docile so no problem, but not a pet I would choose.
Cats & dogs are more my style as you can interact with same. When they are with & part of the family they really can communicate with you. Al, I got
my confirmation for motel Oct 13th/07
It's the best westeern on 50th St N.W so
I guess its out of the way from the Rexall centre. Will study my trusty city
map to navigate my way there & back. My
tickets should be here this week & I am
getting excited. Funny thing I was just listening to poinciana, by Fantasy strings & the drum beat in the background was identical to Bolero. Strange?? love to all Marianne
Looking at all the around the world visitors, I've got a neat site for you all to visit. It's a virtual tour of 360 some cities, like Prague, Moscow, Vienna, Venice, to name a few. Some of these places Andre has played in. The site is http://www.360cities.net:80/
Check it out sometime.
This is NEAT. I've already looked at Vienna and Venice. Now to come back with more time and look at some of the others. Great find. Thanks for sharing.
Shirley, Did you know the 360 stands for 360 degrees that you can see the photos once they are enlarged! If you know about Google Earth, its the same principal you can look left or right or up and down or zoom in or out on each photo, AMAZING!!
http://www.360cities.net/index.html
Check over the instruction on how to work it. It's like really being there in the photo.
Bob Ruark (Hooked on finding things out)
Hello everyone, We getting another month older again! Time goed so fast! Kati
Leave it to me to change the subject....BUT..... i could not help wanting to share these photos with my girl friends on the blog! if you click on this link you will see the handsome-est, sexiest man i have ever seen...
especially the lower right hand photo>>when you click on the link click on that photo to see what i mean...WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW....
these are pix of the young Zubin Mehta...wow...i knew i loved that conductor!
http://www.robinsonarchive.com/photograph-search-results.asp?pc=13
enjoy, L
Thank you Shirley, that is a great site. I didn't have a chance to check out every city but I went to Vienna and I really like the site. Will go back and check out more of it. Back later.
Hugs
hi girls...meant to say when you click on the above link, click on the LOWER LEFT HAND FOTO...that one has the wow factor! (can you tell i really like this guy! what a lucky lady Nancy Novack is...not only is he gorgeous...but he's brilliant!)
Lorraine, you've got me looking around the web to find more on him. One thing that impressed me... Zubin Mehta and his wife are still married. Imagine that. (I almost think that is not 'allowed' in famous couples.)
And he is still good looking today.
Hi Lorraine - you had me so excited, I thought you found this picture of Andre because he fits the description you gave
Has anyone heard from Marlene? Did she get her computer back. I am missing her. Hugs
Hi Jeanine Ann and everyone. I talked with Marlene the other day and she is in withdrawls. Doesn't have her computer yet. I think I'll call again tomorrow. Too late at around midnight for me to call now.
Yes, Mehta is brillant and the last picture I saw of him, he's still handsome.I think he should be about 70 or so. And Jeanine Ann, I'm missing Marlene too.Can you all believe it's gonna be Labor Day weekend already? Kati is right, we're zipping right thru this year!!! The Oct. concerts are almost here!!!!!!
Hi All - Just arrived home from a holiday in Queensland and found I have missed many important birthdays so Happy Happy belated birthday to Bev & her Twin, Clyde,Marianne (yum for the black forest cake) hope you all had a wonderful day. Hugs Norma
Hi Norma, glad you're back.I've forgotten where you live. Will you be seeing Andre when he comes to Australia? I read in Andre's guestbook that a lady had heard on the radio that Andre would be in Melbourne the 21st of Sept. to promote his next year tour. You might listen and watch the appropriate media for any news there. Did you read the Limelight magazine? Let us know if you hear anything.
Norma and her husband Mark live in Melbourne. We spent a day together in April.
jeanine-anne...sorry to have disappointed you! i knew instantly that you would think it andre, that is why i said it was zubin mehta. sawwie!
mehta is 71 years old and still very distinguished and handsome...but to me when he was young he was amazingly handsome.
we have so many pictures of andre, i just thought it would be nice to see a photo of this brilliant conductor when he was in his prime.love, L
Lorraine I just kept looking at his hands. Something about them. It is like I could see the power in them, yet they were soft, not hardend.
Hi Lorraine, you are right he was handsome. I had never seen him in his youth. He is an amazing conductor too. But I will still take more photos of Andre - I can't get enough
I do have Meta's New Years Day concert. Handsome, great conductor, great music!Kati
dear friends The Aug 31st concert from the Netherlands might be found on the web at www.sterren.nl A while back we got the andre road shows & they do show muziekfeest programs It would be 19:30a.m EDT, 11:30MDT & 12:30PDT I'm
going to give it a try Love Marianne
Thanks for the info Marianne, I will check it out. Kati
Marlene, that computer of Yours, takes too much time! We miss You! I hope You get it back soon! Kati
Sally, so funny that you wrote that about his wife, gmta, i just emailed you the same sentiment! yes, it is great...lots of these famous musicians/conductors (more so the musicians) have many wives...i.e. pinchas zukermann, he was even married to tuesday weld for awhile...i was impressed with that too! i have a dvd called "the trout" by christopher nupen wherein pinchas zuckermann, itzhak perlman, daniel barenboim and jacqueline du pres perform shubert's "trout"...zubin mehta is in it to playing the bass, believe it or not, he had just gotten married to nancy ...they look incredibly happy and beautiful!
Hello everyone, I'm back, finally. OMG what an experience. Here are the details...blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...and there's more, but I don't want to bore you. End result, I'm switching ISP's, as mine really messed me up. Will do it when I get the opportunity.
I missed you all so very much! Withdrawals, is an understatement!
Being without my computer for all those days (9 days) I felt like I was on a deserted island in the middle of some ocean. I tried to keep busy to not think about it, but that didn't help much.
Anyway...back to life now
I've scanned everything here lightly, wanted to see what I've missed and I see that there have been several Birthday's since I was here. I'm so sorry that I missed them.
Please everyone accept these belated Birthday wishes to:
Ruud, Carmen, Teun, Clyde, and Marianne!
Ruud, Carmen and Teun...
I send you my sincerest Happy Birthday wishes. I hope your day was beautiful and filled with lots of love, happiness and everything you desired.
You entertain us make such beautiful music for us, I can never say enough thanks nor can I send enough good wishes to make up for all the happiness you give to us each and every time we hear you! Thank you and Happy Belated Birthday!!!
Marianne, I'm so sorry I missed your birthday! I hope you had a great day...here's a belated wish...Happy Birthday Marianne!! With love and hugs to you!
Clyde, I hope your day was very nice and I wish you many Happy Birthday wishes, even though I'm late!
Ok, snakes...nope...don't like them at all, in any way shape or form, but dislike spiders even more.
However...if Andre has snakes in his new dvd, then I will overlook them and just listen to the wonderful music and everything else that will be happening. If there is something that I don't like in a movie or a tv show, then I close my eyes, it works for me. I'm sure there is a purpose for the snake...so...bring on the Efteling dvd, and I cannot wait to see this one!
Thank you for calling Sally, you have no idea how much it helped talking. It's amazing how dependent we become on certain things on our lives...I think the friendships and the many wonderful hours of "talking" and writing we do here is an expression of the heart. When we don't have it, then it's truly missed deeply.
Well, I have tons of things to do. I'm leaving tomorrow for Everett, it's a 3-4 hour drive from here, I'm staying the day, and then driving back in the evening. If I'm not too tired, I will stop in and say hello, if I am, then Sunday will be my day for play!
Hahaha...it feels so good to talk to you that I don't want to stop...but I will now. Take care everyone, have a great weekend! I also wish you all a very pleasant September 1st!
