Sally, I just heard that the tickets for Andre's Dec 2 performance in Sacramento will go on sale to the general public on September 15th. Good luck
Have a great day! ED
just wondering when you may be do a tour of Australia//// from a group of devoted fans.
Hi Russell, in answer to your query re: Andre touring out here in OZ, he is due to do a promo tour sometime in September(this month) and there is also an article in the August edition of Limelight ( the ABC mag) and by what I understand from that interview he is shipping the Schonbrunn set out and looks like touring in December 2008. Hope this helps, meantime we'll just have to keep playing our DVDs...Phil T.
WE IN AUSTRALIA HAVE A MONTHLY MAGAZINE CALLED THE AUSTRALIAN WOMENS
WEEKLY THERE WAS AN ARTICLE ABOUT ANDRE
IN THAT HE IS BECOMING SO WELL KNOW HERE NOW SO HURRY UP AND COME....MOIRA
Hi Moira, I think one of the reasons Andre is "becoming so well known" in Australia is because of you fans. You fans in Australia are to be commended for putting him in the top of the charts, even enough to impress Andre himself.I'm sure that pretty soon, this month, you will be hearing more about him as he will be there to promote next years concerts there. Someone had mentioned hearing on the radio that he would be there in Melbourne the 21st.Don't know how true that is but you all can keep your ears open.
I know that my words late last night in the August guestbook probably wouldn't make it here, so I wish to say again that I hope everyone has a wonderful September 1st! And I hope that the entire month of September is a special one for all of you out there in the world!
It's the month of Fall...special colors everywhere, cooler weather and only one month and nine days away from my concert!!
It's so nice to be back.
I am glad, You got Your computer back, Marlene! We missed You! Kati
Oh, I forgot, I'll see you when I get back from up north, probably not until tomorrow, but if I get back without being too tired, I will stop in.
We are anxiously waiting the day when Andre makes it to Australia and we have nearly all of his DVD's, but how can we get the DVD Welcome To My World?
Good morning everyone and Happy Sept. 1.
Marlene, like you, I love fall and all of the beautiful fall colors. Also, good things start happening in the fall, especially this Oct.
Check out André's website. There are MANY new pictures. I hope they are making good progress on that new Etelfing DVD. That should be really something fun.
Good Morning to everyone.Marilyn I saw those pictures you mention. Can you believe that the crew cleaned up and packed up in about 20 hours? That's amazing! I guess they will be doing a "soap"of this before they release a dvd.Andre & company are the busiest people on this earth. He better live to 120 just to accomplish everything he wants to do. Hi Marlene, missed you much! Have a great weekend all.........
Marilyn, my ISP is Qwest, but not for long. I was not at all pleased with them this past week, and I will soon have another ISP. I'm most likely going to switch to Comcast as my computer person highly recommended them. Maybe there are better ISP's, however, I've never heard anything bad about them. Qwest is on my "list", oh yes, I said that didn't I?
I cannot wait for the Efteling DVD either. I'm ready to press the order button now!
Happy September everyone!! Hey Marlene welcome back I really missed you!! Work day today so will be back later. Hope everyone has a beautiful month!
Hugs to all
HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND EVERYONE! I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT! KATI
When is Andre coming to Australia.
We are great fans
Hello to Sally from Sally
Ha! That was fun to say. One of my clients at work is Sally T, and I am Sally C. That way we know who is calling and how to leave messages.
Your email made me look up Norfolk Island and WOW O WOW. What a beautiful place.
http://www.norfolkisland.com.au/virtual_island_tour/
Just wondering? As we do not know if, when and how we will be able to attend another concert, I have from the Orlando concert we attended last April the photographs I took as a screen saver. I cannot bear to change them! Is it just me, or just wondering, does anyone else do this?
Kind Regards, from hot and steamy Florida.
Wendy
Hi Everyone. Wendy, my screensaver both at home and at work is a wonderful picture of André that I got from his website at least 3 or 4 years ago. I haven't been able to find it again when looking back thru his archived pictures, but it is there somewhere. I have always loved the picture and have never gotten tired of it. He makes a great screensaver.
Wendy, I too have Andre as my screen saver, what else is there? I normally switch pictures periodically just so that I can have another view of, as Judith so aptly wrote, "Mr. Heart Throb". I don't even concern myself with changing to something else
Hi Wendy, Did you try for tickets to Jacksonville? I know they are taking pledges now and what about Tampa. I think Tampa is April 26, 2008. They would be the closest for you. I hope you can make at least one of them. We will be in Jacksonville and it would be great to meet you and your husband. Let me know if you need any information as to where to purchase tickets.
Yes I use my pictures as screen savers and desktop photos. You took lovely photos. I think you have my email if you want info on tickets. Take care.
Love and hugs to all
HI SHIRLEY I WILL KEEP MY EYES OPEN BUT I AM HOPING HE WILL BE IN SYDNEY FIRST BECAUSE THAT IS CLOSER FOR ME THANKS MOIRA
Hi Sally, i was so happy to see a new pic of ( Mr Heart-Throb ) Andre'. spent friday the 31st mourning the 10th memorial services for Princess Diana. i was a huge fan of hers; so i was in the dumps, until i received your pic-me-upper- "ANDRE'". Popped in a DVD, Live from Dublin, so i am toe-tappin and in a wonderful mood again. thanks all and loys of "HUGS. Judy
Dear friends. Glad to see you back Marlene, you have been missed by all of us. To the Oz fans I read somewhere that Andre will be on a promo trip in
Sept. so that would have to be after Arhem & before Tokyo. Most likely he will be on Ovation so you can keep an eye out for his appearance Not much news here, my net has been a bit peculiar, but with a little persistance it seems to eventually do what it's supposed to. Am getting excited about Edmonton. Oct 13th. It will be a five hour drive so I hope he'll come to Calgary next year, but he will have to cut some concert dates with the Oz tourHope all is well love Marianne
dear friends Fro Reg B in Australia, you
might try www.denonclassics.com They have complete discotech of pretty much everything Andre has recorded. Welcome to my world was a song made famous about 30 years ago by louis Armstrong &
I for one have always liked both the music & lyrics. See I spelt Arnhem wrong
Left out the n in my last post but I expect most everyone knew what I was trying to tell them about Andre's time
frame in Sept. He has such an energy for all that he does, so when he gets time off he can sleep a lot. What happened to Al's post at the beginning of Sept. Must be lost in cyberspace!!
love to all Marianne
thankyou Sally, that was a beautiful picture, you are doing a wonderful job, wish I was that clever on the computer, but I find the internet still confusing, keep up the good work, I would be lost without you
hugs anne
Hi Anne: You are welcome. I love that photo I sent you of Suzan in the stunning Black Dress, but then she is so cute, she would look good in anything. (You are doing great on the internet. You've found us and we you!
For all the Fans & Friends, the photo featured on this month's September Guestbook page, was taken by Jeanine Ann. Another great photo!
hereby an Info about André Rieu Concerts in Maastricht next Year. He will STOP them. Read the articel.
Limburger Krant...
Rieu dreigt te stoppen met concerten Vrijthof
Gepubliceerd op 01 september 2007, 11:14
Laatst bijgewerkt op 01 september 2007, 11:37
MAASTRICHT -
Good morning. I tried to get a translation of this article in BabelFish but it was very unclear what is being said. Is it possible to get a better translation so I know what this says. Thanks.
Hi René; I was reading that article yesterday and found it sad. Too many merchants supplying fans with too much to drink. Although he had nothing to do with it, André had to endure many complaints about it.
André is a Class Act, both on stage and off. All of his fans should act respectful, as should the merchants. It appears a few who attend his concerts in Maastricht were less than appropriate in their behavior. It think it is good of Kerstin to work with vendors on the Vrijthof and to ensure their unsuitable actions are not repeated.
In all the concerts I have been to, I have never had an alcoholic drink at the concert. Never felt any need to do such a thing. I noticed at Radio City Music Hall, after intermission, many came to their seats with drinks in their hands and honestly, it shocked me. (nothing wrong with those who have a drink, as I believe most fans would have one and leave it at that) But I can have a good time without needing to be inebriated.
I do not want to miss a note, nor a nuance. I want to see the show André and his Johann Strauss Orchestra, the Crew and all of his staff have worked diligently to prepare and put on stage for us. I will never be anything less than appropriate and appreciative in my behavior.
(now if only we could get the rest of the fans & merchants to do the same)
~Sally~
Thanks for the translation, Sally. Let's hope that the fans and vendors in Maastricht get the message. I would think that André stopping his Maastricht concerts would be the last thing that they would want.
Also, thanks to René for providing the article.
Have a wonderful Sunday.
Although it would be sad that André would have to stop the concert in Maastricht due to "stomdronken"
(correct use?), I do understand and respect his desire/necessity to do so.
I realize that drinking so much that you become...well...you fill in the blank...how would one appreciate beautiful music and the fun associated with André's concerts?
I've had a small (I mean "small") glass of wine at a concert, only because it was brought to me as a treat, but that's it. I too, want to appreciate and enjoy the music and I don't feel the need to become drunk.
I also realize that the fun and excitement at the concerts feeds on itself, it's easy to "have another one", however if the concert go'ers cannot control their libations and respect the reason they are there, then I guess someone has to do it for them.
I wait so long for these concerts to arrive, I wish for the full benefit of this incredible, musical enjoyment.
First off Marlene, I'm glad you're back!Now, duh me! I wasn't aware that alcohol was ever sold at concerts!HA! The only thing I've ever drank at an Andre concert was the little containers of water they gave us one time to gargle with! As for this concert in Maastricht,this seems to be a different one than the ones done in July. I've never heard of any trouble there. The drinking seems to have gotten out of control for it to be a problem, must have been disrupting too, for Andre to think about not doing it again. but, like I said, I think it has nothing to do with the July concerts, this seems to have just been a city thing.
The article said the Vrijthof concerts.
YUP! Me, being confused again! When I was reading the news on Andre's site I was thinking this was a different concert.There are so many bars & restaurents around the square & I'm sure the people think it's another celebration, but there are always those who overindulge I guess. I neither, have anything against having a drink or two, it just seems to have disrupted things a bit here. Guess we'll see how it all works out.
Hi Marlene: I think you are like most fans, if you have a glass of wine, fine. And there is nothing wrong with that. It was a nice gesture to be given a glass of wine as a treat and I'm certain you'd not be one of the few who have too many.
It is the few who have too many, the vendors who are greedy rather than supplying an appropriate level of beverages at a reasonable cost and profit, that cause the issues.
Maestro Rieu works very hard to give everyone around the world the best entertainment in music and we should all be thankful and respectful.
Sad to think if the vendors (and fans) cannot abide by Andre's wishes, then the concerts will be canceled.
I do hope, people will wise up, and not ruining these great ventures for the rest of us, who really do not like to see drunken Fans, I think, the intoxication from this wonderful music is enough for me, should be good enough for all! I think, if cancellations are coming, people might think twice, and wise up! Kati
Thank you René for this article. Maybe everyone will get the message and realize what needs to be done to keep André coming back to Maastricht for this wonderful event. I hope so, I would not like to think that alcohol would be the thing that would stop André and the JSO from coming back to my town!
Good Morning all Andre fans everywhere. I would like to wish a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the Australian fathers.
Rene, I'm hoping that the situation will be properly worked out so the concerts can continue as always.
I hear that there will be an Andre Rieu week on Ovation. The promo has already begun, the stage is being set! Get ready all you fans.
How nice! I'm wishing a very Happy Father's Day to all Australian father's, also!
yes, I to feel the excitement mounting already, when do you think we will get to know the details and book out tickets, I don't think I wil be able to wait
thanks for all the lovely sites from all the fans
hugs to everyone anne

For those of you who do not receive Mirusia's Newsletter:
Hi Fans,
Mirusia is still on vacation, but will be going back to Holland within a few days. She has really enjoyed her 'time off', and will return to Holland a 'very relaxed Mirusia' (to use her own words).
Mirusia enjoyed her visit to New Zealand so much, and said it was so much more than she ever imagined it would be. She just loved the magnificent scenery, and will look forward to a future visit at some stage when the opportunity arises.
There are only a few items of interest to report this letter, due to the fact that Andre and the J.S.O. are all on vacation. Once they are all back to work, we are sure that many more dates will be added to their schedule, so keep an eye on the Future Events list on the web site over the coming weeks.
We were successful in getting some publicity in local newspapers here in Brisbane, with news of the Fan Club site. No doubt you have all checked the Guest Book entries, which are still coming in from places all around the world.
Mirusia also did a wonderful interview with Ian Maurice on Brisbane Radio 4BC a few weeks ago. Her appointment with Ian was scheduled early one evening, and she was due to arrive back from a most fantastic few days at the Whitsundays with plenty of time to spare. As it happened, her aircraft was delayed by a few hours, so the first half of the interview was done in our car, en route between the airport and the studio!
Mirusia spoke so highly of Andre and her singing with the J.S.O. She classes Andre as an amazing, brilliant mucisian. She also stated how much she is inspired by him, and hopes to work with him for a very long time. Andre is assisting her so much with her singing career, and she is enjoying bringing his special type of music to people all around the world.
Mirusia also has a high regard for the crews who assist them during their concert tours. They are truly the people behind the scenes and are often not recognised enough for the effort they put into assembling and dis-assembling the stage effects, seating, etc.
Mirusia is looking forward to getting back to performing during September, with concerts in A
hem, Holland and Tokyo, Japan.
Until next month, best regards from Bert and Shirley.
Thanks for this nice article!
Mirusia seems to be such a nice person. Everyone always has good things to say about her. I'm anxiously awaiting to hear her in person at our concerts.
Mirusia sounds like a great addition to André and the JSO. I have her CD and really enjoy it. I am so anxious to hear her on the coming DVD. André will be a great help to her.
Hi all, I hate to think the homecoming concerts will end, maybe they will just take a break. I enjoy a drink once in a great while but never thought of drinking much of anything at a concert. Actually, I get all the excitement I need just being there and realizing Andre and the JSO are here, in person! Wow! now that is a "high". I am anxiously awaiting Oct 9th.
Have a safe holiday!
Hi everyone, I missed so much this morning now I must catch up. Thank you René for that article. What a shame that people are not acting appropriately at André's concerts in Maastricht because of drinking too much?? He is so HIGH class that I want to be on my best behavior at a concert. I think I saw them serving drinks before the concert in Miami and Clyde did have a small drink of some type but then finished it before we went in. I was already drunk with love and enthusiasm that I didn't need anything
Hi. Most of the concerts I have attended served drinks, mostly champagne. In NYC waiters came around with champagne for $8 a glass. In the arena type places they sell it outside the entrances. Depends on the venue. The champagne is festive and I have never seen anyone get more than one. Even if they get two, no big deal. It's difficult to know where the line is. In an outdoor venue with everyone singing and dancing, it's not a surprise even though I gather the cafe's were not supposed to suppy liquor (and maybe people brought their own). On the night that it rained the audience was no prize either. People put up their umbrellas to the annoyance of other audience members and Andre actually stopped the music and shook his head. Said they would continue if people could be quiet and put down the umbrellas. Otherwise they would leave. A few left, most stayed, and it shows you must bring a poncho when you go to an outdoor concert!
Hi Marilyn B. You don't have to long to wait for your "high". It will be here before you know it!
Hi DJBob that is a great site. Thank you. Do you remember that they played the Blue Danube in the movie "2001 - A Space Odyssey"? That was a neat movie.
Marlene - so glad you are back. Hugs
What is the site for the article regarding drinking at the concert?
Hi Joanne, I don't know if there is a site with the article. It came from the Limburger Krant, a local Limburg newspaper. Did you scroll up and read what Sally said. That is about all I know right now. Hugs
Thanks for the input. Have a great day!
http://www.limburger.nl:80/nieuws/limburg/article2370060.ece
Thanks for site. Most informative
dear friends I have wondered why the dates for the Maastright concerts had disappeared from the agenda. It is so sad tht a few selfish people have ruined
the venue for the fans who really enjoy
the concerts etc & now will go without.
The very first concert I attended in Calgary, I drove home about 2 hours & was so keyed up I don't think either of us went to be before the wee hours of the morning. It was a truly heartfelt high, on love & joy & the only other time I had such a rush was after my lst
cataract op & I could see again, & driving home the day after the surgery the high was also delicious. I remember feeling like I was 10 feet off the ground & also no alcohol needed!! Also no hangover the next day. I hope that nothing like this ever happens at any concerts in either Canada or The U.S.
None of the venues in Canada serve any
alcoholic beverages as most of them cater to events that children attend &
even tho the age to go to bars etc is 18
in Alberta, l9 in B.C & 21 is most other places as far as I know. I do hope it all sorts itself out as I am sure that most of Andre's fellow citizens will be very saddened by his absence with the summer concerts. Love to all Marianne
You know, it wasn't only the cafes on the Vrijthof that were a problem. When it rained people in the audience put up their umbrellas. Other people started yelling for them to be put down. Andre actually shook his head, stopped the music, turned around and said that they would play if people were quiet and the umbrellas were down. Some people left, but a lot of others put down the umbrellas. That's why one should go with a poncho.
HAPPY LABOR DAY everyone! Hope your day is beautiful, happy and peaceful and full of music. Hugs
Full of excitement! I am flying high a week from Today! So, all of You out there, do not cry for me, I will not be home! Kati
And where would Kati be going!?
Kati we will miss you anyway. You are a good friend. Hugs
I am going Austria and Hungary. Just for 3 weeks, I will be back in no time, and teasing You all again! I do know, I will have to read a lot first, but it is OK. I be back for the next Questbook on Oct 1st! Thanks Jeanine!! Kati
Have a good trip, Kati. We will miss you. What is the Questbook ?
It supposed to be Guestbook, Marilyn! Thanks, it is a long trip, but hopefully I get over it soon. Be back the 1st! Kati
Silly me. i should have guessed. I hope you have a great trip. I have never been to Europe, but am getting to the point where I love to.. Hugs, Marilyn
I am planning to go next year to Maastricht, I just have to see that concert, there! Kati
I liked your first way better.
Have a great trip Kati!! We certainly will miss you. See you when you get back.
Dear Kati: You are taking all our wishes and prayers with you on your journey. I know your husband is watching as you bring him to his homeland. Centa will miss her mommy, but knows you will return. Her smile at you says it all. She knows you love her and she loves you.
I am going to miss your shinning personality while you are gone, we all are. ~Sally~
Hi all, my name is Adele.. this is the first time that I post a message on your 'board', althought I have been following your web site for a few weeks.. I have been a big fan of Andre & Co. since 2005/6. I am English, but live in Italy.. I attended his concerts in Oberhausen (Feb 07) and Vienna July 07... I had been looking every day at web sites for purchasing tickets for Maastricht July 08... now I understand why they have not been on sale yet, thanks to you... because i found nothing about this on Andre's site. So, because SOME of the cafes around the square have been selling alcahol and people have been getting drink, we all have to suffer.. what a shame. does anyone of you think that the problems will be resolved, and that Andre and Co will do their concerts as usual ? I really hope so... i was so looking forward.. the trip of a lifetime, and i was going to take my 83 year old father in law.. he would have loved it.. ! best regards Adele
Hello Adele: Welcome to AndreRieuFans.com and thank you for commenting and joining us on the Blog.
I do not know Kerstin, but I have met & spoken with her at various concerts. She is very impressive and intelligent. It is no wonder André employs her for his manager. I do not envy the difficult task she has working with a few vendors that have caused Andre a problem, but I have every confidence she will be able to handle this as she has all things - with respect for Andre Rieu and the utmost professionalism.
And while we fans have nothing to do with the vendors, we can all be diligent in our own actions to show André how much we appreciate and respect his hard work, to bring us the high quality shows he always puts on.
~~~~
I hope you will still be able to take your Father in Law to one of André's concerts in Maastricht. And if not Maastricht, maybe you will be able to attend a concert in Australia? Or even the USA. (And I would love to see another concert in the UK) It is a wonderful gift you have in mind for your 83 year old father in law. How very kind of you.
~Sally~
Hi Adele. Welcome to the website. It is too bad that a few vendors can spoil things for so many André fans. Hopefully it will be worked out. I read that André will be talking to Mayor Gerd Leers to resolve the problem. Since Mayer Leers was behind having the Maastricht concerts in the first place, he should be very helpful. Let's hope.
Welcome Adele! Nice to have you here. This is a wonderful site where we read and learn a lot, chat a lot and have a ton of fun.
Maybe you will get to take your father in law to the Maastricht concerts...hopefully the problems will be solved shortly. We certainly hope so!
Others are starting to talk about this, and have news on this as well. I too am hopeful all things will work out for the best. Maestro Rieu is to be given credit for working so hard to keep his shows at the top of the entertainment world. Kerstin is a very capable person and will with Andre's attorney's work this out to the benefit of all of Andre's fans.
Here is another site with information on this:
Culture Show
Hi Sally etc. It was not only the cafes, although that was the worst. At one of the concerts when it rained people in the audience were shouting for people to put down their umbrellas and they wouldn't. So, it got noisier, Andre shook his head, stopped the orchestra's playing, and turned around and told people to be quiet and put down umbrellas. Some people left and some cheered. I know it was raining but one cannot expect to be able to keep an umbrella up during a concert! Ponchos are the way to go (and most people bring them if there's a chance of rain). It's a very fine line to want people to dance and be happy on the one hand and have them disrupt the show on the other. I didn't see the cafe action but they must have been pretty loud! I'll bet it will be worked out. Maastricht would lose more than Andre would. He could just go somewhere else.
Labor Day, what I call "Summer's last hurrah",seems as if you can almost feel the season's beginning to change. Kati,my heart will be going with you too, but we know you'll be back for the concerts, besides, Centa said not to be gone long!
Shirley, I will think of You all every day! Thanks for being such good Friend! Kati
Centa, does not leave My side! She knows, there is a reason, why I am packing My suitcase! I have a hard time, thinking, that in a few days, I will leave Her! Kati
Hi its me again.. just to let you all know, i live in italy, but i can get ZDF german TV. and last night as per promotion on Andre's site, i watched the 'Dream boat' programme.. so glad i did! this was about a cruise ship to Thailand, a kind of 'soap'about a woman who was trying to entice her husband back to her by using a 'stooge' (not Andre!) there was also an older man who played the violin. (forgive me, it was all in german, so I only got the gist of it) at a certain point the gentleman was playing, and then.... Andre (who apparently was a passenger on a vacation) heard him, entered the room, and played with him.. guess what.. 'True love' from the old film with grace kelly.. AND he SANG a line.. i was enthralled! it was wonderful. unfortunately i was unable to record the programme.. otherwise i would find a way to put it on a web site for you.. Andre looked even more stunning than usual.. dressed in White trosers and navy jacket, he looked younger than ever.. so now he is a film star as well !!! if any of you WAS able to record this 'snip' and put it on the internet, i am sure we would all love to see it... best regards to all Andre & JSO fans.
hello Sally, and how very kind of you to respond so quickly to my 'posting'!You have given me hope, that maybe the problems with the cafes in Maastricht can be resolved, and that I can might be able to take my father in law after all. I was in tears today at the thought that there would be no concerts. For me and family to go to the USA or Australia unfortunately is out of the question.. too expensive from italy. however i am going to Munich 20th Feb.. AND i have a seat in the front row.. a bit on the side but never mind.. I love you site, and thanks so much for putting it together for us fans... what a wonderful way of keeping in touch with all the latest info on the lovely Andre & JSO.. you deserve a medal !!!!
Adele, let us hope, there will be a concert in Maastricht, I try to go next year also, from the US, yes it does come expensive, but, it is a once in a Lifetime experience, I cannot miss it.I am really count on going!I keep my fingers crossed! Keep up hope! Kati
WELCOME ADELE, so nice to have you with us. You will enjoy this site because it is filled with wonderful, happy, caring, Andre-loving people. I hope and pray that the Maastricht problem will be resolved soon so that you can be there next year with your Father-In-Law. I would love to be there also if possible. So keep your chin up and I know all will go well. Keep in touch with all of us. Hugs to you
It's taken awhile but I was finally able to get tickets to see the collection of Dutch masterpieces at the Portland Art Museum. We will be going on the last day Sun. Sept. 16th. and we are really looking forward to it. Thanks, Sally, for of the information on the collection.
good morning to all from sunny Italy, and a very special thanks to Marilyn,Marlene, Kati, Jeanine Ann and Sally, for your kind words of welcome to this wonderful web site.. I am beginning to feel part of a big family! do all you ladies come from the USA ? I really dont know how I have that idea, but it seems that many of you talk about going to Andre's concerts in USA & Canada, and not many talk about concerts in Europe, except for Maastricht.. wishing Andre & JSO fans everywhere a very nice day...
Hello Adele, no not all the ladies are from USA, I live in Sydney Australia, and regularly read this site, yes I agree with you everyone does a wonderful job, I have not been to a concert yet, but I am hoping to see them when they come over here, there is a huge growing following here, and we are getting very excited, welcome and all the best to you and your family, Anne
Hello Adele: I would love to have more concert stories, and photos of cities Andre has performed in, as well as stories and photos of where everyone lives up on the web. Perhaps you can share Italy & the UK with us? I think the web is a wonderful learning tool.
I intentionally do not translate all the articles I put up. I think it best if we all help each other and use some of the translators on line. This way we all learn some of the words in a new (to us) language. And finding out about new places is terrific.
Your question is very timely. I will be uploading new pages soon. (finally have the hands & arms working again). And I need Stories & Photographs. Walt Disney was correct, It's A Small World After All. We have stories from people in France, Germany, Canada, USA, Australia, Netherlands, Denmark, Brazil and the Czech Republic. And I am hungry for more. More Sharing. More Learning. Every country on Earth is beautiful and has beautiful stories of it's wonderful people. I wish to hear them all.
Looking forward to the live show in Sydney December 2008. Will be visiting Eastland Shopping Centre in Ringwood Victoria this Saturday to see you.
Hello Adele, Welcome from sunny Western Australia. I too am besotted with Andre and the JSO, I just can't imagine my life without his wonderful music and dvd's filling my day. He is coming to Australia next year which I am so excited about, I am still waiting on dates as yet, but December 2008 seems to be the time. It will be worth the wait. I read every comment Sally, Jeanine, Kati and all our fellow fans have to say and also love the way everyone shares clips and tips of Andre's life. I have learnt so much about Andre and the wonderful family he calls the JSO. Each and every member of his orchestra are stars in their own right. I feel I know them. Have a lovely day and welcome once again. hugs to all Les xx
Hi Adele from sunny Italy, Anne and Leslie from wonderful Australia!
All of you are part of a great family of friends on this site. I cannot tell you enough how beautiful these fans are here. A lot of us only know each other through this site, others have met and formed friendships and we are all bound together by the great Andre! We do share with each other, not only information on Andre and his JSO but our feelings and our everyday concerns and our happiness. That makes us a family. I hope you will all keep coming back with us. Have a beautiful day. Hugs to all
Hi Jeanine & Adele, sorry I haven't been on the site for a few days, have been extremely busy at work and have been very tired in the evening. I am an Executive Assistant to the Chairman of a Oil & Gas Company in the city. I absolutely love my job, but it can be very demanding at time. I live alone, having been married, but I just can't seem to find the right fella. I'm too trusting and soft in nature, but I can't change who I am. I have just learnt that Andre will be in Australia on 19 September and will be interviewed on the Ovation Channel. I, unfortunately don't get cable tv, but I have a friend who does, so I will get her to tape it for me. I am so glad I found this website, somehow it's lovely to share your thoughts and dreams with lovely people. You all sound like you are warm and caring, I especially love when someone is feeling unwell, or having a hard time in life, you seem to try and lift their spirits and are supportive. I love that. Well I've probably rambled on and on ... thanks for letting me share .... much love and hugs xx Les
Gosh, long hours and work work work. Don't we know it! But it is always good to get out and have some time for ourselves. (I have to keep telling myself this!)
Your rambles are always welcome here Leslie.
I am excited about the interview on Ovation. Promise us you will come and tell us about it!
Dear friends. A special welcome to Adele
Where in Italy are you located? my long ago maternal family origionated in Tuscany, but went to Normandy & then to England with Wm the conqueror in 1066.
That we have documented The paternal side came from Holland in 1642, when N.Y
state was a Dutch colony. Now it is scattered all over the place. This site is wonderful as it is the friends who have made it so. & it all comes from our mutual love & esteem of our Maestro, who is the glue that dinds us to-gether. Some have met each other at
concerts & get to-gethers, but we all share the news & it is great fun. Welcome again!! I too hope that the Maastricht concerts will be re-instated
but it wouldn't surprise me if there is a year moritorium in 2008. Just watch the agenda for any changes as tht is where it will appear. My concert comes in Edmonton Oct 13th. It's a five hour drive & I will be taking my 10 year old grandson for his 1st ever concert. Hope everyone is well love Marianne
Hello World!
Greeting from Indiana, USA! I'm so glad I found this fansite. All of your postings have such a familial tone -- I know, you're the Andre Rieu "fanily!" Anyway, I'm looking for some advice: I'll be attending my very first Andre Rieu concert in Portland, Washington (USA) in early October. I'll be meeting a longtime friend, whom I have not seen in 12 years! I'd like to surprise her with a backstage pass to meet the Maestro. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
Thank you so much!
Oh dear, I meant to say that the concert is in Portland, OREGON!
Hi Patricia. Welcome to our blog. I hope you enjoy it. I too am going to the Portland concert and can hardly wait. It's getting closer and closer.
Hi dear Patricia, so good to hear from you. You are in for a real treat for your first concert!! I cannot put into words how you will feel. I hope you will tell us about it afterward. As far as a backstage pass, I wish I knew. I know Andre does not do the "meet and greets" anymore so I really don't know what to tell you. I have been to two concerts this year and only saw Andre on the stage, will see two more in Toronto in December. Wish I could help you with that but I know you and your friend will have a wonderful time.
Hello Sally and all Andre & JSO fans.. how nice you all are, I am so impressed with all the 'welcomes'... 'grazie mille' (thanks a million).. Sally , how do I put a photo on the site? and if i want to write a bit about myself etc, should I write it here, or is there another place for 'biographies'.... am sure all is explained somewhere on the site but unnfortunately have not had time to explore the whole site...
Hello Adele: I will send you an email on this. For now, you can email the story/article to me, and send any photos you wish. I will create the page, you will have a private link. Once you approve the page, I will turn it 'Live'.
We'd all love to have you share with us. No doubt it will be interesting and educational too.
I love FUN.
Thanks Sally. I will put something together in a few days.. for the moment I am up to my ears working.. I am a tour director, I take groups of Americians, Austrlians, Canadians etc around Europe on coach tours. Next week I will start a 10 day tour around Italy, so I need to prepare for it. Wishing you all a nice day..
Hi everyone, Here is a site I just found if you want to comment on Andre and rate him from 1 to 5. There are some photos there and a discography. I did leave my comments.
http://www.starpulse.com/Music/Rieu,_Andre/Comments/index.html
Hello Adele and Patricia, nice to have you join the friendly group. I am from Missouri.We are all friends and fans of Andre Rieu.Like notes in a world symphony, we come together in harmony.(or at least we hope we do.)I've never been to any concerts outside the US but many of the fans have. I love learning about all the different places that the fans live and how they came to know about Andre.It's just good to chat with friends don't you think?
Adele, Patricia, Welcome to Our Blog. I hope You enjoy talking to Us! We are a very friendly bunch! Kati
Sally,
I have just reread your memo and I think I read that you asked me for any comments re potential "concert sites" in Melbourne.
What a nice gesture.
Hey, Melbourne is known to many throughout the world as the "Event Capital of the World"
WE have quite a lot Major Events, ranging from F1 Grand Prix / Melbourne Cup (Horse Racing) / All sorts of Football Finals / as well as many Art Exhibitions. Last year we also had the "Volvo Around the World" stopover.(Yachting)
The State of Victoria (Melbourne is the Capital) has a "Quasi" Govt Dpt called "Major Events"
I,m positive that A.R's support team / organization would know of this department.
My daughter in fact was the Media manager for both F1(6 years) and Volvo before she has taken a "sabatical" to give us out 1st grandchild (thats another story!!)
Melbourne has just so many "venues" that can accomodate numbers ranging from 5000 through to 100,000
I love Melbourne and Victoria. Been there several times and I have lots of friends there. I'd be tempted to go back for an Andre Rieu concert. It would be an awesome experience being surrounded by people who are hearing Andre and the JSO for the first time.
I never thought of it that way. That would be good. What an awesome experience it is going to be.
Hi Kati - Couldn't let you go without wishing you a safe and great trip.
Hugs Norma
Thanks Norma, I think I needed, all the good wishes! Thank God, They did get the would be bombers in Frankfurt, that is where I will fly into, scary stuff. We just cannot lead Our life scared all the time!! Have to go on!! There are lots of bad people all over the World, does not make any difference, which Country You go to! Kati
Hi all can anybody tell me what has happened to our cheeky but charming chartreuse chappy? Haven't seen anything from him in quite a while.
Hugs Norma
Hi Norma, I think he's been quite busy working lots of overtime.I'm sure he will pop back in soon. In the meantime maybe it's best to just let sleeping dogs lie! haha
I've either been in training climbing Camelback mountain for the previous 3 months, or unsuccessfully trying to climb Mt Humphries, north of Flagstaff.
I tried, unsuccessfully twice to climb Mt Humphries. Am planning to try again this coming weekend. The climb begins at 9,100', the summit is 12,600'. Weather forecast so far is for a nice clear day on Monday, sooo wish me luck....I'll need it!
I ran out of gas at about 12,100' the first time; & was chased off the mountain by rain, lightning & thunder the 2nd time.
Only 92 days till Andre & The JSO return to Phoenix on 8 December. <g>
THIRD TIME'S CHARM!!Good luck..........
My goodness. I try to get to Heaven the old fashioned way, Pray. You are climbing that high!!
I have always wondered if you can feel the air thinning out as you climb?
Will be thinking of you as you climb.
Kati, i've probably missed your departure ...but if i have not, may i wish you a wonderful holiday in Austria and Hungary. please have a milch cafe and a sacher torte for me in Austria...if you are in Vienna, make it at Sacher's....yummmmmmmmmy.....
i'll be thinking of you driving your little sports car around Hungary...hey, i should be in the passenger seat! ...someday....take pictures! lots of love, bon voyage and a safe trip, i will keep you in thought and prayer, Lorraine
Hi Lorraine, I am leaving Monday, You are not late for anything. I always do have their pastries there, no way You can skip it and the coffee? It is like home away from home! I hope, the dream will come true, and You will come with me on the ride!? Let us work on it!! I do not have a sports Car, just regular passenger Car, it does very well, what I needed for! Very small. Kati
hi kati, glad i haven't missed you yet! i am definitely working on it...and i would be honored to be your passenger in ANY car! (especially in europe! i never had the luxury of traveling via auto in europe...always the rails!)! olease have a safe trip, you will be missed by all!Love U, L
What makes driving My Car harder, it is a stickshift or manualshift Try to get used to it again! Kati
Kati : Here is some LOVE to take with you on your trip:
Wow. Didn't know that. Yes, that makes a difference. I've got a 4 speed and an auto-transmission. My 4 speed has a Strip Master clutch in it and most people would faint trying to shift it. (but it's fun for me.)
Kati I hope I didn't miss your departure date. I will miss you very much. Have a wonderful time and God be with you every mile of the way. Hugs
Thanks Jeanine, leaving Monday. I hope for the best, You never know, when You travel so far. Kati
Hi everyone, were all of you able to view the video which Terezie sent? I cannot get it to play. Thanks
Jeanine Ann, it played for me, had to wait just a second.
Hi there Adele,We wait in anticipation of Andre's new CDs and DVDs.What a great feast of Music to look forward to.My wife and I and most of our friends love Andre's music. Regards Lewis
Hi to everyone. I want to wish Kati a safe trip, and we will miss you! Hope to see some pictures when you return!
I also wanted to mention that I feel as though Andre will work out something for his concerts in Maastricht. I know a lot of fans are planning to go. Me for one, although we may wait and see a concert in another "inside" venue. My ankle seems to be doing well. I can wear regular shoes now.
I watched Andre in NY on PBS last evening with my daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter. They are all getting hooked just like me, well maybe almost like me!! Take care and enjoy the music! Also Hi to Bill wherever you are.
Marilyn Bas
Thanks for the good wishes Marilyn, I hope to meet one day, if nothing else, I am planning to go to Maastricht next year also. Kati
Hi Marilyn, I to have 3 granddaughters getting hooked, they are in their early 20's, and asked to come to the Australian concert with me, I also have a 3yr old granddaughter who is absolutely potty about Andre, she has beautiful red hair and blushes madly when his DVD goes on, her mum plays Andre, and Phillipa puts on her long dress, about 8 necklaces, clip earings attached to her dress as brooches and comes on stage with her little plastic flute or sometimes a pair of chop sticks for her violin, she says mummy will Andre like me better if I wear a bit of lippy, I have her little concert on video and made it into her own DVD, (wait till she grows up, and we show her concert) she says she loves Andre very much but she will still marry daddy
What has he started, hugs Anne
I've just received Andre's email which announces three major European concerts for 2008. Is anyone tempted to buy tickets? I went to the ticket site, but it's all in German.
Al, won't that be the same set up as the one in Toronto? The Schonbrunn concert? Are you going to the Dec concert?
www.rieu2008.de
Yrd, I'll be at both Toronto concerts. It's just so tempting to attend a concert in a European location.
Al would You put up the site for the tickets? I like to find out, when they do sell them for Maastricht! Thanks! Kati
Hi Al, how come you got an email from Andre about 3 concerts? I am also subscribed on the www.andrerieu.com website to receive emails, but so far have not received any. ! tell me what the web site is and i will have a look at it and let you know.. i speak a bit of German..
Hi Anne,
Isn't it great how the young ones are so into Andre. My great-granddaughter will be 2 about the time of the concert here in Portland so I am taking her. We have 3rd row center seats. Hope she is on her best behavior!
Hello Marilyn, what's the number of your seats at the Portland concert?
dear friends I was surfing on a news channel & learned that Pavararotti was fading away. He brought some beautiful music over the years so he will be sorely missed.Also a good wish for an uneventful trip to Hungary. Think I got it right!! We will miss your posts for the time you are away, but will welcome you back with open arms. Also welcome to Patricia, & hope she enjoys the blog as much as I do. Just waiting for the
Edmonton concert. Still waiting for the tickets, but I called them to-day after I got home from Medicine Hat for a CT scan on that pesky aneurysm, & will find out next week what the scan shows.
Still don't like the barium. The taste is bearable but the after efects are a bit dire, but It's still better than being chopped open for a patch job, Will just have to wait & see. We're going to get frost & snow in the mountains over the weekend. But the flat land is still warm during the day,
Hope everyone is well, love Marianne
Hi Marianne, I wish you the best for your test results next week. I will say extra prayers for you. BTW how is your friend Alice? Still praying for her every day. Hope she is doing well.
I feel really bad about Pavarotti. What a beautiful voice that will be missed if he does not make it.
Take care of yourself. Hope you get your tickets soon. Hugs
Well, just heard breaking news that Pavarotti has died. Sad news. He will be missed. He led a musical life and did exactly what he wanted to do which was sing. His name is one of the most well known names in the world. He touched many lives and I'm sure all will miss him. Thank you Pavarotti for all the beautiful music you gave to the world.
Hi Marlene, seats 20 and 21. I called the Rose Garden to see where they were. and they said about center. WOW, huh?
I am getting pretty excited now. I hope to meet you and the others that are planning to attend. I know Ruth and Sally are coming. I don't think I will be around for a dinner because I am bringing the little one, but we are planning to get to the venue around 7-7:30. Sally knows the details!! Time is really going fast.
Hi Marilyn B. We were going to be in Portland probably mid-late afternoon. I was wondering if fans got together before the concert. Not being real familiar with Portland, I was also wondering if there was a good place to eat somewhere near the Rose Garden. hugs. Marilyn S.
Hi Marilyn S. I am sure the fans will be getting together at some point. I am not sure where they are staying but you should ask Ruth and Sally. There are lots of nice places not far from the Rose Garden. I am not sure what our itinerary is at this point, plus worried about keeping Kyleigh "concert ready" but I think we can do something. After all we are like neighbors compared to the distance the other's are coming..
So, Sally when are you arriving, are you going to have time to get a bite?
I can make reservations wherever if you have a favorite place.
Whew, that was a lot of typing.
Marilyn B
Hi Marilyn & Marilyn! (and Marlene and and and.. )
Yes, lets get something planned. I just emailed Marilyn S. about where she was staying and having a lunch/dinner. We'll talk this weekend?
I was very saddened to learn of Pavarotti's passing. Another great voice of my time, only having seen him on TV & tapes, he nevertheless became one of my favorites. I was amused as he told of being influenced by Mario Lanza and that after watching his movies he would go home and imitate him in front of a mirror. And that he was not above performing with pop stars. He was equally at home with pop or opera. To me he put the big O in opera. I'll never forget the 1990 "three tenors" concert at the World Cup. And I'll always wonder what he would have thought of Paul Potts singing of nessun dorma. I think he would have been pleased.
Hi Shirley, I do have Their Cds and DVDs, unforgettable!! He will be missed by the whole World! Are You two OK, in this big storm, I have seen on Fox?? Kati
Hi Kati, yes we are ok, the storms are mostly south of us, but we are getting some good & well needed rains.Yes, I'm sure many in the world will miss Pavarotti, but his voice will remain forever won't it?
I am glad, that everything is OK with You, have not heard from My Stepson, hope, They are OK also. Saddlebrooke is about 1 hour 30 minutes from You, toward Springfield. Kati
i, too,was very sad to hear of Pavarotti's passing. he was a great tenor who will always be remembered as one of the best. the way he sang Puccinni's aria to mimi in LaBoehme touched me very much...it was altogether beautiful. He was the real thing and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Thankfully, because of technology, his legacy will continue. May his family and children be blessed with courage and peace during this time of loss. Luciano, we love you! L
Hi Lorraine, yes Pavarotti will be very missed, I was an usherette when he came to Australia to the Superdome, and had the great pleasure of hearing his wonderful concert and laying out the beautiful tables for the after show supper, and serving the guests, what a night, it was just wonderful and did'nt feel like work.love all anne
what a beautiful memory to treasure. so happy that you had this wonderful opportunity and experience! thank you for sharing it! L
What a terrific memory, Anne. A night to remember .
Dear friends Thanks for the prayers Jeanine. My friend Alice is healing well
she has a patch where her nos once was & having the radiation therapy. She won't have the nose reconstruction or prostheses until next year, but she is still herself & her attitude is also very optimistic. Human beings are just remarkable is that such awful stuff happens to us & we keep going. No matter what it is we have to keep on trucking. We have rain to-day so our air will get washed of all the dust,
I'm ip early for me as I have to turn up a couple of pairs of jeans for Andy, & then pick him up after school with the big bass guitar. It's about as big as he is tall. He has band twice a week
so I will pick him up on band days. It's sad to lose Pavarotti, but He had a good life doing what he wanted to so that is something to be thankful for. Hope everyone else is well,but am missing Carol LaCore.as she's not posted for some time. Love Marianne
Oh what a sad loss of Pavarotti. I will never forget when I saw him and Carreras and Domingo in Miami 10 years ago. He was a legend in his time. Sure will miss his beautiful singing of one of my very favorites "Nessun Dorma".
Thanks to Pavarotti for beautiful music in my lifetime. Hugs
It's sad to know that the great voice has been silenced, but he will live on in recordings. We are so lucky that he passed this way.
Rest in peace, Luciano
Hello everyone. I am writing this on a computer in Miami Florida where my wife and I are on vacation in our time share with some of our friends. MY Agenda is as follows:
We will return home on Sept.9th and on Sept. 20th will leave for Russia for three weeks. I will be spending my birthday (September 23) in St Petersburg, Russia. We are going with a group of friends. From St. Petersburg will be taking a river cruise to Moscow. I read somewhere that Andre said he wanted to do a concert someday in the RED SQUARE, I'll check out the site and see if it awesome as some people says it is!!
BJ BOB
Hello Robert, ah, so you will be gone too? Well, happy birthday in advance! What an interesting place to be spending your birthday!Tell us all about it when you get back.
DJBob, have a very nice vacation (what is a vacation anyway?) and a very Happy Birthday!! I hope Russia goes well with your birthday!
DJ Bob. How terrific that you are going to Russia of all places. It will be fascinating to hear what you think about it. More video shows? Have a good time (as I know you will). Also, have a great birthday. Marilyn
WOW DJBob that is a wonderful trip you are planning! I want to wish you the happiest birthday you have ever had in advance in case we don't get to talk to you. That is so exciting. I hope you have a wonderful time. Hugs
Hey Marianne - Only five weeks till the concert in Edmonton!!
(Just in case you needed to be reminded!)
Hello everyone. The news is very sad about Pavarotti. It seems like he has been around forever. He took opera out of elite circles and popularized it with the masses. (Does that sound like someone we know re: classical music ?) He had a fabulous voice which we will really miss. Let's hope there are younger singers (Paul Potts, André's 3 tenors come to mind) in the works,
although he will be difficult to replace. I have always liked Placido Domingo too. A sad time, to be sure.
Sad Indeed. We are fortunate to have had him in our lifetime. Two interesting clips:
arrivederci il nostro amico,li mancheremo.
Thank you, Sally. They are terrific.
Thanks for putting up the videos Sally. My goodness what a great voice he had.
Hi Marlyn, I am sure you're little granddaughter will be wonderful, I find my little Phillipa sits leaning forward, eyes glued on the screen with her mouth open, so you're wee one will be mesmirised, hava a wonderful night
love anne
Dear Al I had to opt for the best western North at 12742 50th st N.E so I have to map my way there & then to the venue. Ia rexall center in the northlands complex. Have an address so I
expect I can find it okay. My home phone is (sent in email) in Brooks & my tickets should be here by mid month so
then I will get excited, but for now I am getting antsy as its not all in place
My young 10yr old grandson is in for a great evening as it is his very first
concert of any kind & he's is the school band this year with a bass guitar that is a big as he is, While his Mom is working at the diversified crop centre, I pick him up on Tues & thurs, as it's just too muh for hom to pack home five blocks. Watched this kind up to grade seven & the back paccks they are toting look as bit as what the infantry men in the Army carry. Personally think the school has them carring more weight than they should for their youn ages. Actually I find is rather horrifying as thes kids
are still growing & if they don't carry their gear proprly they can damage the growth patterns for life. I'm on the soap-box again!! Readersdigest pit to-gether 4 tenors some years ago, pavarotti,domingo, carreras & mario lanza. All tenors, but each on a wee bit different, just as the platin tenors each have their own flavor. Note
the same differences in the sopranos as
well It is one of the huge miracles of life that each human is so individual
even identical have slight differences
I want to get into the motel by no later that 4P.M & have time for a lite lunch & then go check out the venue, If
I'm lucky I'll get some ppics of the busses & maybe some of the people, but won't intrude unless I'm invited. See you in Edmonton. Andy & I will be dressed for an occasion. Love Marianne
just seen that tickets are on sale for Brussels, Stade de Roi.. 13th Sept..web site for booking is on Andre's site.. Zurich tickets also on sale..
Hi Bill, so that's where you've been- climbing those stairways to the stars! Sure hope it's 3rd time lucky this weekend. Go Bill the Chartreuse Hero!
My husband and I are smitten by the Andre Rieu concert DVD's. We just adore Manoe Konings. Before we realised her name, we nicknamed her "Blue Dress"! Not only does she play amazing clarinet, but we've seen her on a guitar, and she's wondeful on the bagpipes.She's a comedian as well, another reason we enjoy her so much. And not only that she can sing too! What a girl. I would like to know more about her. Is she Dutch? And how old is she if that's not too rude a question? Every time we buy another DVD, we scan the screen until we spot "Blue Dress" and we can relax. How could I write to her personally? Jean AU Fan
Dear Jean you can go to Andre's official website www.andrerieu.com and check on the page about his orchestra, there is a page on each member of his orchestra. I have a website also where she is my featured JSO member/ www.djbobphotos.com She is from Andre's hometown
Bob Ruark
Hi everyone, Marlene - check your email
I checked! Thanks Jeanine Ann, VERY NICE!
Just wanted to wish everyone a very nice Saturday...it's a slow start for me, but will get busier, unfortunately. Sometime I really would like to have the whole day to be like my morning, I mean, a "normal" "slow" "calm" weekend, do they not exist any more?
It's promising to be a warm day, although it's cool this morning. Well, better get to my chores, take care everyone and have a great weekend!
Good Saturday morning to all. We are being deluged with rain right now so stuck inside! Just had to come on and tell you all about seeing an Andre Rieu advertisement on our cable Tv, this was an ad for his cds & dvds & where to get them. That's a first for our town!Was I surprised to see & hear his music advertised on a local channel, especially since when I first tried to find anything by him in the local music stores back in 2003. HA!
Hi Shirley, I have seen the storms in Your area, I hope You do not have to swim?? Lots of rain these days! Kati
Hi Kati, no I do not have to swim yet
I wonder, with all that rain, if Maggie have Her problems again?? Do You know anything about Her? Kati
Hi Kati,no Kati, haven't talked to her for awhile, but I think after the last big rains she had a lot of repair work done that might have solved the problem. Our back yard rain gauge had 6 inches, but that was just since midnight, some places farther south had 7 inches. I know we had gully washers all night long! Marianne, I've heard that phrase too, used to take it seriously. Sally, as I was reading the In the Shadow of The Moon, the words of the composer of that music, he said "music can be a mystical experience as well as a cerebral and emotional one". I thought that was a good description. And today I listened to our NPR station who had an hour of Pavarotti music, and one piece I was particularly touched with was a bit of a duet with Joan Sutherland, I think it was from La Traviata. Their voices were prime! Well, it's time for me to go.............
Marlene, you are very welcome
Hi Shirley, wish you could send some rain to us. We are sooo dry right now. Haven't had any rain since that big one that I can't remember
Dear friends Happy birthday in advance DJ Bob. Hope you & your wife have a great trip to Russia Safe journey. We just had a thunder storm go thru with hail It's noisy on the outside of the A/C but the sun kept shining. My Mom used to tell me that when that occurred
the devil was beating his wife!! Nice
prospect. Very quiet otherwise. Doing some turning up on grandson's pants & a bit of mending plu fix my friend Yvonne's pants. One is a turn-up & the other fix a unsewn hem. It sure takes me a long time to do stuff these days.
Old arthritis in the shoulders & neck but will keep at it until it's done. Hope everyone is well love Marianne
Marianne, that made me laugh. I've never heard that expression before. It certainly would be a devilish thing to do! ha.
From Relafin to Remicade (sp) we've got to come up with ways to not just fight, but prevent and cure arthritis.
I absolutely loved the Tuscany concert. For all those who have seen it, in the fourth part there are a bunch of Italian songs played including the Italian National Anthem. Most of all, I am trying to find the name of the song that starts off with a girl playing the clarinet. It is quite a good song to sing along to. If anyone can give me any song names or help I'd appreciate it!! MARY
Hi Mary. On my DVD, the song after The Italian National Anthem is L'Italiano. It starts off with Renate Dirix playing,
not a clarinet, but a soprano saxophone
for the introduction. It looks like a big kind of clarinet, but when I was in a band years ago, that instrument looks like what we called a soprano sax. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong. But you are right, that is a great song and that was a great concert.
Cheers.
Marilyn, the song L'ltaliano, are there words in English to that one? I was just curious. I need to order another Tuscany dvd as mine is worn out and haven't been able to watch it for some time, it's one of my favorites too.
Good morning, Shirley. It looks like you are up even early than me. I don't know what the words are to L'Italiano, but it would great to know. We need someone who can speak Italian. Mary was saying how much she liked the Tuscany concert, but she was asking about a song she thought would be great to sing along with. I thought she might be referring to was L'Italiano. It comes after the Italian National Anthem (which she mentioned) on my DVD. It wou be fun to know more lyrics. I have been able to get a few fans for André by playing the Tuscany DVD for them. Have a great Sunday. Cheers.
Ha, I might not be up as early as it shows on here! Anyway, I'm a little confused about which song Mary's referring too if it's not the one you mention I don't think there is a clarinet or sax in the opera medley, if that's the one she's referring to. And Marianne is right about those too, the one she can't remember is probably The Carnival of Venice. I can't remember on the dvd but the cd has the opera medley with 6 songs, my favorite is the 5th one,the Hebrew slave song from Nabucco. On the Carnival, I think it's just a little folk song, all I've ever heard is the words from kids, "my hat it has three corners".I'm off to see if i can find the words to L'laliano!
Hi Shirley. The time of your email on my computer was 4:45 am, which IS pretty early alright. On weekdays, I get up around 5:30, and on the weekends my dogs make sure I am up by that time too! Good luck with finding the words to L'Italiano. My favorite is also the Hebrew slave song. Boy, the Italians sure sing right along with that one too. I have been replaying my CDs of Pavarotti and also the 3 tenors. What fabulous music. What a loss, but at least we still have Pavarotti's fabulous voice on CDs and DVDs.
hallo andre rieu alls goed met jullie met mij wel hoop dat het concet leuk was van maastrich hand er gaar ok welen zijn maar het is zo ver van franeker hoop dat u nog ergs in friesland komt
groedjes patricia
uit franeker
Dear friends, In answer to Mary's query re the opera popourri/song #1 is La Donna e Mobile from Rigoletto, by Verdi, 2nd song Libiamo, usually sung with the choir, sopranos & platin tenors, with champagne all around, 3rd
song I don't know & should but just can't hang a name to it, 4th song is
the Toreador song from Carmen by Bizet, then follows the Italian national anthem, which is quite different from most anthems in that it does not have a martial rhythm. I played both the cd & the dvd to see if I would find any songs that do have lyrics & I know that many of the instrumentals we all love also have lyrics to match.The girl playing the clarinet is Manoe Konings, who also plays bagpipe & saxaphone she also sings, so she is very talented I listen to an instrumental station all the time &
at least 97% have lyrics attached so I sing those to put me to sleep. Much more effective than counting sheep. Glad I made you laugh Sally with my little joke, but it is funny how happenings will trigger memories from many moons ago. like maybe 7 decades
Smiles make the world a happier place & costs nothing & it is a wat to spread
joy to our neighbors, even if they start out as strangers. A stranger is a person I've not yet met & once you talk to the person a bit, you usually find that they know someone you know & then the ice is broken. Love to all Marianne
Jeanine, Thanks. You are a jewel. How do you do it. Can you happen to get the lyrics of the Hebrew slave song
Italian Translation in English
Va', pensiero, sull'ali dorate;
va', ti posa sui clivi, sui colli,
ove olezzano tepide e molli
l'aure dolci del suolo natal!
Del Giordano le rive saluta,
di Sionne le torri atterrate...
Oh mia patria sì bella e perduta!
Oh membranza sì cara e fatal!
Arpa d'or dei fatidici vati,
perché muta dal salice pendi?
Le memorie nel petto raccendi,
ci favella del tempo che fu!
O simile di Sòlima ai fati
traggi un suono di crudo lamento,
o t'ispiri il Signore un concento
che ne infonda al patire virtù. Fly, thoughts, on wings of gold;
go settle upon the slopes and the hills,
where, soft and mild,
the sweet air of our native land smells fragrant!
Greet the banks of the Jordan
and Zion's toppled towers.
Oh, my country so lovely and lost!
Oh, memory so dear and despairing!
Golden harp of the prophetic seers,
why do you hang mute upon the willow?
Rekindle our heart's memories and
speak of times gone by!
Mindful of the fate of Jerusalem,
either sound a song of sad lamentation,
or else let the Lord give us
the strength to bear our sufferings!
Hi Marilyn, I just look everything up. I love looking for languages. I took an Italian course years ago and forgot so much. Tried Spanish and Dutch also. Spanish is not too hard but Dutch is hard even though I would love to learn it because of dear Andre so I will try German now. My husband knows some German so that will help. Hugs and have a great day.
I LOVE learning. Something I enjoy about our site is that we can learn, little by little about other lands, countries, languages.
It is the sharing of what we learned that makes this so wonderful. What would our world be if not for the Italians? or Germans? or Hungarians? or Irish? or Czech? or Brazilians? or Canadians? or Mexicans? or Americans... or.... _____________ fill in the blank with any Country's Citizens. For it is our world as a whole that makes it all so special.
I appreciate how Andre's music brings us an interest and knowledge of new things.
Right on, Sally! I think all the different languages are a lot of fun and we learn so much.
I'm not Jeanina Ann, but I just happened to already have the lyrics to va pensiero. There's a neat video on u tube with a good version although it says Carnival (1), it uses the song. link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q98uD1wNbl0
One of My all time favorite, Thanks to You all! Kati
Thanks a lot, Shirley. One of my favorites too. Marilyn
Hi everyone.
Today I'm hosting my annual garden party, for about 24 guests. I got a scare yesterday when it started to hail, but thankfully it only lasted about five minutes and the hail was pea-sized, so it did very little damage to the plants and flowers.
A good friend of mine is a chef, and he's in charge of the kitchen, Our main entree is a shrimp boil, but we have two guests who are allergic to shellfish and one guest who is a vegetarian.
The forecast is for a beautiful day. Did I ever luck out, because yesterday had rain and hail, and tthe temps will be dropping somewhat the next few days. Leaves are beginning to turn golden.
As evening sets in the garden should be spectacular. I have ten torches, plus 14 solar lamps plus a few other low-voltage lamps and the fountain looks like a chandelier after dark because it has a light under water that shines on the spray.
And I always tell my friends to be prepared to go barefeet, because my lawn is lush and green. I don't expect any of my guests to be lush and green when the party ends, because we are all classy people who drink sensibly.
Also, there will be a few guitars and an accordian for a jam seesion as the party progresses.
This is going to be fun!
To Norma Akers and other Aussies.
That game yesterday between The Cats and Kangaroos wasn't a game ~ ~ it was a slaughter.
You always have a perfect setting, Al! Kati
Al, I am just Pea Green with envy! I wish everyone there all the best, and it sounds as if that is just what you've got covered. Have a terrific time!
Thanks Shirley for doing that.
Al, sounds like a fantastic time. Wish I could be there!! I am sure your guests will have a wonderful time - you have such a beautiful garden. Thanks for sharing. Hugs
That song puts a smile in my heart. Bella
Here is the explanation for the numbers next to the English. I thought I got that on the last post. Hugs
[1] Spaghetti al dente means Spaghetti not very cooked; in Italy it is a long standing issue the problem of how long to cook spaghetti. In the south it is preferred to boil them not very much, while in the north they are boiled for a lot of time (spaghetti scotti).
[2] In the 80’s the president of the Italian Republic was Sandro Pertini; he was a partisan against the fascism during the Second World War.
[3] In the nouveau riche Italy of the 80’s the car radio was a status symbol.
[4] It is well known that Italy is the country of saints, poets, and sailormans...
[5] The first of a series of verses full of political criticism: after the Second World War the Italian culture was invaded by the American myth, il mito Americano.
[6] There are two different meanings of this verse. The first one is related to a social analysis: in the modern Italy the number of nuns decreased due to secularization of the society. The second one is moral: women of our times forgot the holy principles of the ancient society; note that in Italy is usual to call suora, nun, a girl that doesn’t go with a man if he doesn’t have serious intentions (marriage).
[7] Maria is la Madonna, the mother of Christ.
[8] This is the key of the interpretation of the text. The Author, with eyes full of melancholy for seeing Italy in so bad conditions, is frightened of God having forgot him.
[9] Gessato is an elegant suit.
[10] Moviola is the replay of the relevant moments of the football matches of the day, on Sunday evening. Football matches were played on Sunday but it was not possible to see them live on television, so Moviola was very popular.
[11] Another political verse: patriottism was not common in Italy after the fascism.
[12] Seicento (600) was a very popular small car produced by FIAT Auto, the symbol of Italian industry (now in deep crisis). The fact the auto has an old bodywork is another symbol of the moral decandence of Italy in the 80’s.
[13] Very poetic.
[14] Full of desperation, Toto didn’t find words to express his thoughts.
Toto Cutugno - L'Italiano (Lasciatemi cantare)
HI Jeanine. Thanks much. This is a good way to show a translation. And the notes are really helpful. How do you go about getting your translations.
Hugs, Marilyn
Hi Marilyn, I just google the name of the song plus I put "lyrics" after the name. If I need English then I add that and then I search through the results and see who comes up with the best lyrics and translation. Hugs
That sounds neat, Jeanine. I would like to get the English lyrics to the dauchsundt song in Schonbrunn concert. Wenn ich mit meinem Dackel. I will see if I can do it. Thanks for the lesson.
Cheers.
Hi Mariyn, ok let me know if you need any help. Hugs to you.
Hi Jeanine, I tried but didn't find anything free. It looked like you had to buy whatever it was. I found the song, tho. Since it was all in German, it was hard to tell what was what. If you would take a quick peek, I would appreciate it. It didn't look like a translation website like Babel Fish. The title is : Wenn ich mit meinem Dackel. It was such a cute piece. Thanks for your help. Hugs, Marilyn
dear friends Just a very quick note between pledges on our spokane station of Andre Rieu in N/Y. Thanks Shirley for cluing me in on the Carnival of Venice. Just could not recall the title
Hope everyone is well Love Marianne
Hi Everyone: Please send a photo of yourself as child.. to me.
I will upload the photo without saying WHO it is a photo of...and we can all Guess!
Let's Have FUN
Our first photo will be easy: GUESS WHO
It sounds like fun Sally, however, I'm probably going to be hard-pressed to find a picture of me...I will certainly try though. I haven't seen any for many, many years, as my mother had all of them, and I just don't know where those are...but I have her stuff, so I will look asap.
Aww, I hope you find one.
I put a page up for this. More on the way.
Gotta be our Ms Sally! In this picture you look like a little onery girl who used to chase me around the school yard.
HA. Somehwere I have a photo of me where I am ... ummm... less than nice to Billy. But then, he had just poured ice cold water over my head. Remember when kids played 'chase'? That strange land called 'outdoors'? I wonder if today's youth knows anything about that?
Hi Al. Your garden party sounded wonderful I'm sure everyone had a great time. The garden looks so colorful from photos and the fountain and the rest in the evening - out of this world! And GO THE CATS FOR PREMIERS 2007!
Hi Norma. How do I get Als' garden party pictures?
Hi Al. Your garden party sounded wonderful I'm sure everyone had a great time. The garden looks so colorful from photos and the fountain and the rest in the evening - out of this world! And GO THE CATS FOR PREMIERS 2007!
Hi Marilyn, here are the German lyrics for Wenn Ich mit meinem Dackel: English later (I hope) Hugs
*****
eine von mehreren aufnahmen (z.b. auch peter alexander) dieses herrlichen wienerliedes über jemanden, der sich immer von seinem dackel nach hause führen lässt, wenn er im angeheiterten zustand ist, weil er selber den weg nicht mehr finden würde.
darüber kann man jedenfalls auch heute noch lachen
wenn ich mit meinem dackel
von grinzing heimwärts wackel
donn sog'n die leut, dos g'scheite vieh,
jetzt frog ich sie, wen meinen die,
jo ober do ned mi, jo ober do ned mi
Girls, are we going to learn this song?And what's a dackel?
Boy, Jeanine, you're good. I couldn't see where to print off lyrics in German, much less English. I really appreciate your efforts.
Shirley, Dackel is German for dachshundt, at least in some areas. I thought Karl Moik and his Dackel were such a cute team. And as you can see
on Karl's next song (on the Schonbrunn DVD), André was holding the Dackel (that was cute, too
Thank you Marilyn, the German seems to be the easy thing. Still looking for the English. Peter Alexander also sings the song in German. See you later after I am finished searching
Shirley I would love to learn all these songs! Hugs
ok, good luck in your searching, i'd like to know what the words are in english. We used to have a neighbor up the street with a cute little dackel named Heidi.
Oscar Longdog. Part of Dewey Tales: The True Life Adventures of Dewey Cat!
Oscar would sneak out of his yard. After looking both ways, he would dash across the street.
I would hear a scratch at the door, where upon opening it, I would have to look down. Way down. There was Oscar, asking if he could come inside and play with Dewey.
True story. Oscar would show up at the door about once a week. I think he and Dewey would set play dates. They would play chase, have something refreshing to eat & drink and then lay in the sun on Dewey's favorite blanket which he only shared with his closest of friends.
Dachshund, Dackel or as Dewey would say .. LongDog.
Thanks, Jeanine. I didn't mean to make you work so hard.
I just finished taking care of a little mini-dackel for 2 weeks. Her name is Erica. She is very cute and independent and is quite a character. My sheltie Bobby (who is a big sheltie) loves her and followed her around all the time. It was so cute to watch them play. Erica would sit on her hind legs and bat at him while he was play-lunging at her. It is always fun and interesting to watch how gentle bigger dogs can be while they are playing with smaller dogs. Cheers.
Hi Marilyn: Oscar Longdog's big brother, and I do mean big, was Yuki, a big sheltie. I never knew Shelties were so strong. Yuki was the very sweetest dog, and he was solid and strong. I was impressed at how intelligent he was. Really a great dog.
Hi Marilyn, I am so glad to be able to help you. I will keep looking for the English lyrics. That is so cute about the dogs. The bigger doggies just seem to know that they must treat the smaller ones with more care. The mini Dackels are so cute, of course what dog or cat is not cute and I love the Shelties. Take care. Hugs
Nine days to go!
Hi Kate, you must live in Australia!Are you counting the days?
You bet,8 sleeps, I cant wait.
(8 sleeps. That's a cute way to look at it.)
Lost heroes
Sung by Kelly God
Available on: DVD Live in Dublin NTSC
Ocean bird, I wish to tell you
A story from a long time ago.
Oh ocean bird, I wish to tell you
That sad old song you have to know.
America, so many heroes
They left their homes and crossed the waves.
America, you sent your young boys
Oh ocean bird, how must I tell you
That sad old song? They came to save us!
America, so many heroes
They lost their lives and filled the graves.
America, we love your heroes
America, we are your friends
America, we’ll always love you
And keep you in our hearts and hands
America, so many heroes
They left their homes and crossed the waves.
America, you die of grief now
Oh ocean bird, how must I tell you
That sad new song? They are in pain now!
America, we share your sorrow,
America, let hope remain...
That is one of the most beautiful songs.
Words by: Marjorie Rieu
Of course this beautiful song is so appropriate for this day. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who were affected on September 11, 2001. I believe that the whole world was affected of course, so I pray for peace and love and understanding for everyone. We need to experience the compassion for life and our fellow citizens of this planet otherwise we have will continue to have wars and will continue to have people who are relentless in harming others.
This will always be a sad day, where so many lost their lives innocently and so tragically. However, hope should always remain, as peace, love and understanding is our true nature, I believe. Many express it now, many still have to grasp the concept.
Thank you Andre for this beautiful, meaningful melody and thank you Marjorie for the beautiful, heartfelt and meaningful lyrics.
Thank you Shirley, for putting up the lyrics!
Your words are beautiful Marlene and I agree as I remember all who gave their lives on this day six years ago. I will never forget.
Thank you Andre and Marjorie for the beautiful beyond words "Lost Heroes". I love you both for your kindness and compassion for America.
Thanks Shirley for the lyrics.
From one of my friends at Severe Weather Watchers:
Subject: [Severe Weather Watchers] WTC Tower 2 Tue Sep 11 2001 9:02:59 AM - Sent Tue Sep 11 2007
Oh south tower who could have seen.
The second plane and its evil scheme.
And what did we see In the blue sky?
Would strike to the heart and burn every eye
While you feared the things that should not
Someone had already planned and there was shock.
With great silence we heard the roar.
And wondered why, what for?
This shorter but meant to touch.
We miss you all very much.
God saw these things that came.
Sometimes I wonder if we’ll ever be the same.
And so we remember you.
Those of that tower two (too).
Another remembrance for Flight 93:
Subject: [Severe Weather Watchers] Flight 93 - 10:03 AM Tuesday September 11 2001 - Sent Tuesday September 11 2007
Flying high above the trees.
Souring so high in the cool breeze.
Oh great were you flight 93.
You spared innocence and gave you life for the. (this was pasted in so I don't know what word is missing or what he meant)
In the face of darkness great.
You showed others love in the mid of hate.
And so close were you in winning the war.
A few clicks left to open the door.
In the middle of a rural field.
You set the tone for how we feel.
You showed your hearts made of gold
From these words, simply said “Let’s roll”.
You can never be forgotten for your ways.
I hope my Children are that way.
Never forgetting your fellow man.
In the face of death there to stand.
Another remembrance for the Pentagon:
Military might so brilliant and bright.
Strong men guarding our flag in sight.
Five sides did they have in sight.
And so your day started so right.
But as you labored to guide our troops.
Evil would come from lowly men stopped.
And suddenly as you labored to understand WTC.
You would become an unwilling target by thieves.
How it must have been so dad.
To see the stars and stripes so bad.
And so to you we solute with love.
You are with the greatest commander above.
Planning not war but peace at last.
And honoring the heroes of that day past.
In remembrance of my brother John, FDNY, Station 10, who passed saving others. It was long before 911 but I know his spirit was with 'his boys' on that day.
Yes Charles I am sure the spirit of your dear Brother was with "his boys" on Sept. 11th just as those who died are with him now. We will never forget any who died in the line of duty on any day. They are in our prayers always.
Thank you for posting here.
Charles, It was wonderful to see Station 10 & Ground Zero with you. I'm sure your brother's spirit watches over his 'boys' as well as over his brother.
A day branded into our hearts.When we saw those horrible pictures we knew what hate looked like, what hate could do, but then, we saw what LOVE could do. I think love shall always triumph.
dear friends. Here it is the fifth or sixth anniversary of 9/11 When I saw the
disaster on t.v. that morning I thought it was a script for a movie, but no it was real. The sad thing is that so many more folks are sick with all kinds of ailments from breathing the polluted dust & absorbing the toxins from the air so the fallout is still going on. I wonder if we will see the same fallout from "Katrina" as the officials have said in both cases that the air was fit to breathe. It's a pretty sad state of afairs when we can't trust our gov't officials to be honest when it comes to our overall health. We are no better off in Canada so it is join the club!!
The folks who cleaned up the pentagon all wore respirators so they didn't get sick with respirtory ailments. So far the cance incidence hasn't surfaced, but I'll just bet that will be the next thing that comes to the fore. Any burnt building, always has toxic residue that
is harmful so that is why all the firefighters wear masks & cover their skin with heavy gloves, coveralls etc as
that stuff can be absorbed by the skin.
I'm sad for those who lost their lives in the initial disaster, but am furious that there has been so much illness from the toxic air that is still going on & it was preventable. Doesn't say much for our care of our fellow man.
Think the Kate mentioned above is in the U.S & it is Katie who is in Australia. 8 sleeps would make it Sept 17th. Will have to look at the agenda to see just when the Maestro comes to our shores once again. I do love that
Lost Heroes, but it makes me tear up/ Hope everyone is okay Love Marianne
I'm Kate from Australia.It is now 7 sleeps before Andre gets here on 19th.Dont forget we are a day ahead of usa.omg cant wait
hahaha.Kate, you sound so familiar, just like a true Andre fan! "7 sleeps" now huh? Like who's counting? What will you do when you actually see him?
She will probably do the same as all of us Shirley, never be the same person again and wanting to see more of this marvelous man and his music
Die!
What is it now, 5 sleeps before you "die"?
Oh Kate you don't "die" until you get to meet him. I am only half dead at this point
But I must add that I almost "died" in Reading when Andre looked right at me and said like he usually says "what shall we do now"
Another lovely tribute to Sept. 11
Once Stood So Pretty
By Brian R Cross
And now the time has come.
And the deed done.
Once that stood so pretty.
Now is dust in New York City.
And while the rescuers search.
Thousands of people hurt.
Tears of sorrow fall.
As mothers weep, and loving families call.
From this day arose from the ash.
Great compassion that will last.
And that is what will never die.
And we only need look to the sky.
Dark hours gone and memories there.
Go into the world and the good word share.
Hug your neighbor and if they have sinned.
Forgive them and kiss the bad to the wind.
Laughter may seem strange to the lost.
But it’s the way Heaven see’s it with God.
For we are only here for a very short time.
Why I could even leave as I write this rhyme.
And that is what stands so pretty
In all the glory that was a pitty
Dear friends Am very glad to have the Kate & Katie sorted out & I had forgotten that our Maestro will be in Oz
Sept 19th. Watched part of Oprah to-day & she had some of the children of 9/11. It breaks my heart as we remember once a year, but these children have this with them for their whole life &
that important person is not there for their graduations Marriages & all the things that make us human. Some are dealing with the los okay but others are
having a rough time of it. Went to the Doc & got good news as the aneurysm is
unchanged. Think a lot of that is due to keeping my B/P less than 115/70. so there isn't any pressure on the weak spot. Also met a little girl to-day, a real sweetheart &her Mom, who was so surprised that I still drive at 74 as her Dad has had to give up driving, because of health reasons etc. My eyes are very good as is my hearing, & the only thing I am aware of at the moment is a little slowing in reaction times and even that is not too bad. My older G/S Dusty swung out in fron of me when I was jeading for home & I spiked the brakes a lot faster than he thought I could so it's not all that bad. Also drive defensively, which is what my Dad taught me eons ago Love to all Marianne
Thank you to everyone for all of the wonderful and inspiring thoughts about this fateful day. The first time I heard Lost Heroes, I must say I was stunned, and surprised that I had never heard it before anywhere. To me, it was and is a powerful piece of music. The video showing André walking along that beach made it seem more real because you were at the actual spot of the invasion. Thank you, André, Jean-Phillipe, and Marjorie for the powerful and moving song.
Hello everyone, I hope you have all had a good day. A lot of thought and emotion on this day, but everyone always rises to any occasion that they need to. That's the way people are.
I just wanted to say hello. I'm not talking too much right now because I've been very busy and working a lot.
I'll be back to normal (whatever that is) soon.
Hi everyone, Marianne so glad you got good news. Will keep on praying that it stays that way.
Marlene you work too hard. Yesterday it was pouring rain all day (which we needed) so I did not do a thing except watch all the remembrances on TV and 2 Andre concerts to cheer me up. I always love watching "The Vienna I Love" because it has my favorite "Meditation". I could watch him play that forever. It is so beautiful and Andre looked sooo handsome. Just thinking about it now I want to see it again. Hope everyone has a beautiful day. Hugs
TORONTO CONCERT!
Hi everyone, Just want to mention that Ruth Morgan and I will be working on a fan dinner in Toronto in December. It will probably be on Saturday but we still need to work out the details and find a restaurant. First of all we need to determine how many fans will be going to Toronto and how many would like to attend the dinner.
Please email me: weathergirl052@comcast.net or Ruth at ruthmorgan@charter.net
Thanks much. Hope many of you will attend. Hugs
Ticketmaster.com Presale code for Andre Rieu at the Arco Arena
Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 7:00 PM
Presale is on now
Code : Rieu
(give credit to AndreRieuFans.com for this code)
What is an Internet Pre-sale?
Occasionally, some events will be available to purchase online before they go on sale to the general public. These pre-sales frequently require a password that may be distributed by the venue, artist, team, or promoter of either the event or the pre-sale, or distributed by Ticketmaster.com via email promotions and TicketAlerts.
Often, these passwords are distributed to exclusive members of clubs or certain other types of groups and cannot be offered to members of the public. Links may be published on the Event Information page at the time of pre-sale. Ticketmaster Phone Center and Customer Service representatives usually cannot give out passwords. If an event is scheduled for pre-sale and we are authorized to publish it in advance, the event page may list an "Internet Pre-sale" date with the ticket sales information.
When entering your pre-sale password into a promotional page, window or
box in an email, please ensure you are entering it in the appropriate box: A
pre-sale password is not the same as your My Ticketmaster password.
Internet pre-sales are usually sold from a reserved allotment of seats, which may not reflect the same availability during the public ticket sale. Internet pre-sales provide the advantage of exclusive purchasing windows in advance of the public sale, which often results in less people competing for the pool of available seats. However, Internet pre-sales may also have limited seating available in various areas - these pre-sales are intended as advance purchasing windows and do not necessarily provide access to better seating. In fact, it is possible that you may be able to obtain tickets for better seats at the general public sale than those that you purchase through a pre-sale. We must remind you that Ticketmaster does not offer refunds or exchanges, so you will not be able to replace the tickets you obtain at a pre-sale with other tickets that become available at a later date.
Well you learn something new every day.I never knew about passwords for either ticketmaster or pre sale. I read a comment in Andre's guestbook about this same subject, only they were asking about the Sacremento concert. I was, and am still, completely confused! I guess I have only gone thru PBS in the past. Like i said, learn something new every day!
Hi Shirley: I've seen where there are these 'presale' password codes before, but I stayed away from them because the seats are not "first available". They are from a block of seats held by a group or something. I worked with ticketmaster for a year in an attempt to have "first available, first order" seats. Still working on that.
I put up the information ticketmaster gives out about 'presale' tickets so everyone can be informed. The tickets selling are pretty good and On The Floor. Sacramento tickets go onsale to the general public on the 15th.
Only those of us with the password/passcode can order yesterday and today.
I'm learning too.
Hi Kate (Oz) I am joining you - now I have 8 sleeps till I see Andre at Eastland when he is in Melbourne on 22nd. Isn't it exciting! I am looking down on everyone from "cloud 9" at present. Life is beautiful!!!
From ED: I have four seats (on the Floor - FLR2, U, seats 3-6)) that I will be selling. I will just charge the exact cost that I paid ($309.45). These are for Sacramento, Arco Arena, December 2, 2007 @ 7:00 PM.
Contact webmaster if interested. She will forward all emails to Ed.
Hi Norma, are you girls getting any "sleeps" at all? Just wait until after you see Andre
Keep us updated. Hugs to you and Kate
4 sleeps till when he first sets foot in Sydney and 8 sleeps till we actually see his flesh. I've started my valium! The weather here is beautiful. I wish I knew what time he was landing and go to the airport.
Hi Kate, valium? Oh my you are as bad as I am and I thought I was bad
Hugs
Hi Kate, I, too wish I could find out what time Andre arrives, I too would be there and anywhere else I knew he would be. I'll definitely be at Warringah Mall. Does anyohe know if the Kerri Ann show Thursday is a definite, I heard it was earlier but haven't heard anything recently. I tried to phone them but only got the answering serice. Faye Smith
Hi Faye, As far as I know the Kerri Ann show is still a goer. I looked at the Qantas flights coming in on the eve of 18th and morning of 19th and there's four to choose from. But then again he might not travel qantas, so I gave that idea up. I notice on the blogs fans are wondering what all the secrecy is about his arrival. I tend to agree. NO-ONE is telling us anything and apparently only the elite few may get to meet him. I thought this was a promotional trip (I have spent $$$$$$ on this man! and will only get a window of 1hr to get a glimpse. Poor Adelaide doesnt even get a look in. I know he will probably have TV shows to attend etc, but most of us fans would like to SEE him. I'd like to ask him to come over for a BBQ and have some chips and mayonaise!!!!!!!! Oh well had my grumble. Faye wear a tulip when you come to the Mall (purple if you can) and I will come up to you and ask your name. Is it safe to leave our mobile numbers on this blog?
Hi Kate. I can imagine the state you are in. I have been there. As far as flights go, I know that André has his own plane(s), so I would think that is how he and the JSO will be coming. If we hear of anything, we will let you know. Marilyn
Hi Faye and Kate, I look forward to meeting in Sydney on Sunday. I will wear a purple tulip as well as my Andre scarf.
Hi Kate, I would sooner you exchange your cell phone numbers by email if you can. This blog is safe as far as all of us fans but you never know who comes in sometimes while we are not aware. I sure hope you get at least a glimpse of Andre. I will be sending good thoughts your way and positive ones too. I know how important it is to you and to all of us. Keep your chin up. You WILL get to see him. Big hugs from me
One can just feel the excitement building as Andre heads down under.I think, like Marilyn said, he will probably come by private plane.As for "secrecy", who would want to get mobbed by lots of fans, and you have to remember that he only has a limited amount of time there, he has concerts in Japan to get to, then he's on to the concerts in Canada and the U.S., then a short break and it's back to Canada and the U. S. in Dec. This is one busy guy! I don't know how he does it all.It seems like the schedules are made at least a year in advance. I read somewhere that it will take about three months just to ship all the equipment to Australia, so this will be quite an expensive operation for him.That's why so much advance promotion I would imagine. I hope that those really wanting to have a chance to see him at these malls remember he's on a tight schedule. Your time will come to see him in an actual concert.
I think you've got it right Shirley.
I understand fans wanting to meet him, but I also understand when he is working as a business man, and not on tour with his JSO, then he wants to be able to accomplish his work. It is such a mixed blessing to be so famous.
On the other hand, if a large crowd shows up, that in itself is good publicity. However, an interview with a thousand rabid fans does not work well. If only Maestro could clone himself and be everywhere at one time?
(I best hide and not let Andre see that post, he would surely think me crazy)
dear friends T think you are quite right in that the schedule is set a year in advance & even at that it is a grueling itinerary. Bet that is why there's been no update at Andre's main site since Aug 25th, Everyone is swamped with all the other tasks they do
the dvds & cds slated for Nov, are a case in point. Even tho we love his efforts I do hope he doesn't overdo & I
am afraid he may be doing just that, because even with no concerts sceduled there is a lot of other work that has to be done. He is very much like the vintner who will sell no wine before its' time, & his presentations have to be perfect as that is the way he is. I see that two cities is Germany will get the Schonnbrun concert along with Brussels & from what I've read it will take three months for the set to be shipped to Oz. The Oz fans are in for a real treat. Wish I could go to Toronto, but the busdget just barely covers Edmonton wguch is a nonth away for me I will be counting sleeps very soon. Used to do that with my kids when they were little. It shows the child in all of us and that's no bed thing at all as it shows that you've not lost your sense of wonder about our world. It is like the wine festivals in the B.C okanagan
vally where they are at the stage that Californis' Napa vally was 30 years ago
& the wines are getting recognition on
the world stage One unique thing is the ice-wine which is not done anyplace else
You have to wait until the grapes has had 5 degrees of frost, then pick like crazy to get it ready for the process
which is quite the thing. Hope the ankle is healing well Marilyn, and everyone else is well love Marianne
Hi Kate, I will have my Andre Rieu scarf on and also a badge with Andres' photo on from Maastricht. Will also try to find a purple tulip. See you there! Faye
I am thinking of our Kati this morning. I just heard, on the radio, the beautiful Hungarian Rhapsody #2, with Zubin Mehta conducting the Israel Philharmonic orchestra.bravisimo! So Kati, wherever you are, you're on my mind. Will be looking for you back soon.
Hello everyone, I'm going over to my nice chair and watching Andre on PBS tonight. I'm all by myself, no one to bother me, I hope! I will have a nice cup of something hot, and relax watching my favorite maestro.
There are now 23 days left...and counting!
Hi Marlene. I see you are now counting. (Me, too
Hi everyone in Aus.... I have just looked on the Foxtell tv guide website and it shows interview with Leo Schofield and Andre Rieu at 3pm on Thursday 20 September. I have a friend who has Foxtell and she is taping it for me. Before I got to work each day I set up a video tape to tape Kerri Anne so I don't miss anything. I am at home today as I have bronchitis and feeling fairly ordinary I must say, but have just been to the Doctors and anti-biotics should clear it up. I am now going to put my feet up and watch one of my many dvd's of Andre. What a lovely way to make me feel better. Hope everyone has a good day and week. I will let you all know if I catch the interview with Kerri Anne. Love Les xxxxx
Hi Leslie: I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well.
I pray you get better soon.
Hi, that particular interview has been posponed. After checking with ovation apparently its not completed yet and they dont know when it will be on. I checked my foxtel program and the website for Thursday and it doesnt mention it. But do let everyone know if there is a change
Kate - re my message on Andre's web site. You mentioned to check out the messages and suggested we could meet at Channel 9. Would the carpark area be a good place?
Hi, yes, whereever you can park, there will be a few of us. Get there early, he's on at 9am. Look forward to meeting you
Kate - see you then - I'M EXCITED!!!
I'm thinking you are not going to sleep too much the night before....
Dear Leslie Mitchell. Sounds like you have much the same ailment I have myself
I have chronic bronchitis, which used to morph into a full blown chest infection, I started a 1000 units of vitamin D in Jan 99, along with vitamin E & have not had a chest infection in over 3 years so something works. Still have the allergies to pollen etc. & fall
is bad due to ragweed & goldenrod & our desert climate in southern Alberta, Also
the "D" is a good breast cancer preventative. The Oz promo is Sept 19th to 23rd so I hope all the fans have the chance to see him in person or at least on T.V. Andre is one lovely human being
Not long til Edmonton so I'm counting the days. Have my motel booked but no tickets as yet but should have them this week. Am getting antsy, but snail mail is slow. Weather is still warm although we've have some frosty nights' but gardens are still growing. That new music & more section has a lot of items
that are on my list but not yet. Will see what is available in Edmonton. Am missing Kati & hope she has a great trip
Love to all Marianne
edmonton concert
My, my, I wonder how many times the name of Andre Rieu has come up in Australia lately?
Sally, I send a lot of nice pics from Arnhem. Please let me know if you received. Dank je wel
Groetjes René
Dank U ! Yes, I have them and will upload them.
I think how wonderful it is to have Andre so near, and to see the beautiful cities of Europe. I always try to imagine what the people of history were like, their daily lives, how they built such beautiful monuments, the buildings, gosh all of it!
And the music. I do not forget the music!
Thank you very much René!
Hi René, so good to hear from you. Will look forward to seeing your wonderful photos from Arnhem. Thank you so much. Hugs
Hi Marianne, bet you are getting antsy by now. You don't have too long to go. I am getting excited for you now. I know you will have a wonderful time and will look forward to your telling us all about it and how Andre looks and what he plays. Hugs to you
Thank you so much Sally for that beautiful sunny picture... It cheered me up getting a lovely get well message from way across the ocean. I am still off work today, planning on going back to work tomorrow. I have new inhalers to try, unfortunately they don't make me feel very well, probably doing amazing things for my chest though. Marianne it sounds like you have the same thing as me ... not a nice illness ... I'm longing to see Andre in Aus during this promotional tour. I hope all Australians receive him with open arms... just as his fans and friends do across the world. Marianne you must be getting so excited, are you counting the sleeps like Kate is doing. I hope everyone has a lovely day whatever you are doing, I will come back on the website later on today ... love Les xxxxx
Leslie, we all wish you a speedy recovery. Having had similar problems I know how long lasting it can seem to be rid of. As for "receiving Andre with open arms",I'm sure all Australia will give him a welcome he'll never forget! And when concert time comes there will never be a more enthusiastic crowd anywhere! I'm hoping to see a dvd made of one of the concerts there. I think that would be fantastic.
Hi Shirley, I'm back on my favorite website, thanks for your wishes, I actually sat with my feet up watching "The Flying Dutchman" ... I don't know if anybody has noticed or not, but the 3rd piece on that dvd "Intermezzo Sinfonico" at the very end of this the tears are welling up in Andre's eyes and you can actually see his cheeks wet with emotion at the beginning of the 4th number on that dvd. I just love it. I also watched the Mastrichht concert for about the 16th time. I certainly had a lovely afternoon. Thank you for this wonderful website, it's lovely to know that there are actual people at the end of my message, reading with interest ... I think I'm back to work tomorrow, but will see how I feel in the morning... Hope you all have a lovely sleep tonight.... 1 more sleep. ha ha hugs to you all xxx Les
Les, when I saw Andre in San Jose in December 2005, he played Mary's Boy Child. The first verse as a solo. He closed his eyes, and played as if the song were a prayer. The entire crowd was silent as he offered his song. I think not only did he have a tear in his eye, so did most of us watching.
I'm excited for you! The time is near.
You have made my day Andre - I have just found out you are doing a concert in September, which unfortunately i cannot come to, but that you will be doing another one next year. Can you tell me when?
Trish,if you are from Australia, Andre is not doing a concert there in Sept., he's only there to promote some concerts he will be doing next year, 2008. I'm sure he will be giving the dates of the concerts at some of his interviews on TV. Everyone will soon know when.
Hi Les, hope you are feeling better now. I know that watching a nice Andre concert does wonders when you don't feel well. You just forget how you feel and concentrate on his beautiful music. I guess most of us are counting sleeps now. Marianne doesn't have too many to go but I must wait until December for Toronto and I must figure out how many sleeps I have to go. The time does go fast though.
Marlene you don't have too long to go either, are you going to Portland or Seattle? I know you will have a wonderful time
I got my Limelight magazine and they made a mistake and sent two, of course they charged me for two also. I emailed them and they told me they would credit my account and to keep the extra. Is there anyone who does not have this magazine? Just let me know and I will send it to you free of charge. The first one to email me gets it. I don't need two and I want to be sure that no one missed out on the lovely article on Andre. My email is:
weathergirl052@comcast.net Hugs to all
Hi Jeanine Ann, I'm going to both concerts, Portland AND Seattle.
dear Trish Our Maestro will be in Oz from Sept 19th to 23rd On T.V & the major cities then it is off to Japan for three concerts in Tokyo. He is going to make an announcement for concerts in the major Aussie cities in Dec 2008, so you haven't missed him yet
IF Andre is arriving this evening (aussie time) then thats about 5 hours to go. But one more sleep till we hear him on our radios in the morning. OMG wish I knew where he was staying!!!!!!Andre have a bbq at my place tonight!!
To all my wonderful Andre Rieu friends. My wife and I are leaving on Thursday for 3 weeks in Russia. I read somewhere that Andre said one day he would like to do a concert in the Red Square. I will check it out and see how a concert would be there. I am planning to see what the people in Russia think of Andre and do a little promotion for him to get a feed back. Until then as the title to the James Bond Movie from a while ago "FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE"
Asvanda (I think that is Russian for see you later)
All my best to everyone!!!
Bob Ruark (Hooked on Vodka??) Who knows?
With leaving for Russia in a couple days I just had to make the following Photo Show:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.fullscreen
I just love the music, I am sure you will recognize it and like it to. Well I am off to try and spread Andre to Russia!
Just enjoy
DJ BOB
wow! That one gave me cold chills Robert. Have a safe trip. Thank you for being YOU.
Very nice Bob! I really did enjoy that. Have a wonderful time in Russia.
Hi Bob. Great job. Enjoy yourself. It will be fun to hear about Russia.
Good morning everyone from Down under. Well no more sleeps, Andre will be arriving on Australian soil today!! Yippee. I have every tv channel covered. I thought I would be back at work today, but still feeling unwell, taking longer than I thought to bounce back. I will keep you all informed if I get the faintest whiff of any news on our darling maestro. I'm going back to the couch now to monitor the morning programmes... stay tuned xx hope you all have a lovely day xxx Les
I have news... for all those people in Australia, tune in to Kerri Anne's morning programme channel 9 on Thursday 20 September at 9.00 am and Andre is giving an exclusive interview and performing .... 24 hours to wait. Just thought you would all be interested. xxx Les
I have provided the website for Kerri-Anne if it is of any interest to anybody. It gives you what is on her programme each day.
http://www.kerri-anne.com.au/index.php
If there is any way I can share this interview coming up tomorrow morning, please let me know. I will be taping the show on a VCR. Thanks Les xxxxxxxx
Hi again Leslie,let us all know how the interview went. Kate said she got to talk to Andre on the phone. Wasn't she the lucky one. Let us know about any concert dates he may announce.I guess if you have to be laid up for awhile this is as good a time as any!
Hi again Shirley, yes I heard Kate on the interview ... lucky girl. I heard him say that his new dvd will be out at the end of November "Andre in Wonderland" this will definitely be on my wish list, also tickets go on sale for his Aus concert in November of this year ...... now I am hanging out for his appearance on Kerry-Anne tomorrow morning. I live in Perth which is a few thousand kilometres from Sydney, but will be watching avidly. Will keep you all posted. Have a lovely day xxx hugs from Les
Dear friends. Not much going on around here but weather up & down some rain &
sun some warm days & some pretty cool!!
Leslie am so glad Kate had the opt to talk with Andre. That man is just driven
to provide as much of himself to his fans which is great for us but hard on him I expect. My son-in-law is go, go go
as well & I don't know when he finds time to sleep. Not much really. Am now counting the sleeps until Edmonton. Not
many to go now to Oct 13th. Still waiting for tickets but will phone KSPS
this morning as they should be en route
We have a new mail deliverer, who comes as late as 6P.M. so the day gets a little mixed as you can't do all the busines in the A.M. like I normally do,
so it is a readjustment like making everything later in the day. Hope everyone is well Love Marianne
Hi Marianne, I remember my first concert when I was waiting for tickets too.I think we got them about a week before the concert! I even called the PBS station to enquire and I was really uptight when they said they had been mailed & I still never had them yet, Seems they put the wrong state on the envelope, thank goodness the zip code was right. Talk about pins and needles! I think that added to my gray hairs!
short report of Arnhem to the many pics.
It was the best concert that André gave. However, André has good ideas always and that does him unique. Singers were: Carmen, Mirusa, Suzan, The Platin tenors as well as the Harlem Gospel Choir. The Viennese Depütantinnen and Depütanten. Andrés golden carriage pulled from Lipizanern. Snow in the hall. Fireworks. Balloons. The public of Arnhem was the best choir, absolutely musical. All together: indescribably beautiful. Begin 0800°clock pm and finishes about 1130 pm. Afterwards autographs at the bus. Some orchestras members remained in Arnheim as well as arrived with own cars.
Hartelijke groetjes
René
Sorry, the Concord Pipeband was also involved
Hi! I´m portuguese and I was looking for a violinist a few years ago. And finally, I were so surprised when I found your music in Youtube that I couldn´t believe that was really the musician of my dreams. I never eard no one like him. Hes fabulous! Congratulations! I already eard all the musics. Bye. Good luck.
Hi René, that concert sounds just beautiful! Thanks so much for the report. I didn't realize that he would have the horses and carriage. Bet the photos will be wonderful. Thanks and hugs
Dear friends Hooray, tickets are on the way!! I will be in Sec 101 row 3. seats 3 & 4. The seats are in the centre of the venue on Andre's left on the south side of the arena. Now I hope the accoustics are decent. ndy & I will be above the floor so we should have a good view of everything I hope. So my motel is set & tickets which will arrive about mid-week next week. Now I can get excited. My PBS station has accheived its' share of monies to proceed with up-grade to digital next year so even without an HD TV the reception will be improved Over the years I've gotten to meet many of the people who operate the pledge drives etc, so I feel like their family too. Now I can really begin to count sleeps.
We maybe won't get all the concerts next year with Oz going in Nov 2008, but I for one am more than willing to share our love & esteem for the Maestro
his JSO & crew as they need a treat as well Love to all Marianne
That's great, Marianne. We are both getting excited about concerts that are coming closer and closer. It's fun to see others getting excited too. Hugs, Marilyn
Lorraine, I just read your page on Jacqueline du Pré! What a beautiful heartwarming story that is. I wonder whether to call it tragedy or victorious. Amazing, thank you.
Shirley, Thank you for your kind words. Jacqueline du Pre has been such a blessing in my life. I am so thankful to have discovered her talent as her music...and especially as heard and seen in the Elgar Cello Concerto...reaches me as few things do.
Regarding the page, however, thank Sally. She's the one who brought the words to life and conveyed the beauty of Jacqueline du Pre in a way I could not.
Hope you get to hear this piece, if you have not already, in full...it is simply exquisite. Love U, L
Sally, I cannot tell you how touched I am by the beautiful and extraordinary way you transformed my page into a visual journey is simply AMAZING! BRAVO TO YOU SALLY FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! Your research and work on this page deserves ALL the credit. The CD covers, the newspaper articles, the photographs along with the Christopher Nupen film has honored Jacqueline Du Pre as mere words could never do. For it is only in the beauty of her music and in the beauty of her performance that one can glimpse the genius that was hers.
Thank you so much for honoring her talent and for putting a beautiful face on this story, a face that truly was Jacqueline's ... the face of a rare and gifted artist or as Sir John Barbirolli said: the face of "the Real Thing"!
And by the way, those accents in the words "expresive" and such were INGENIOUS....(i would have never ever thought of that and still do not know how to create them with the computer keyboard!)
Bravo Sally, Love you, L......
Aww, shucks. Honestly, I only tried to make the page worthy of the story you write.
And I mean to put up a Blog page for it... lemme go do that. I thought it was live....
Dear Friends Just read & listened to the Jacqueline DuPre entry. She really is a talented artist who is lost to the world because of MS, which strikes the young folk. Nasty business but she can hope for a remission as many people do get that. Thanks Lorraine & Sally for the intro. Aside from Andre dvd & cds I listen to a MTrax channel which plays
all instumentals, so that is where my TV is set for 80% of the time. Lots of oldies but also new artists as well so there is a huge variety & it is soothing but not intrusive. Al Girard,
I remember the Liberty mags from the 40ties & 50ties & when they discontinued publication I was bereft as they always had at least one article well worth the time & the covers would to-day be icons
I've never been a person to read the so-called ladies mags as most of them are just not up to par at least not for me
I'm more into R/D, Ntnl Geographic , Discovery, Smithsonian & Cdn Geographic
simply because I learn stuff that appeals to me. Physics is over my head but anything anthropology or paleantology I can really get into. I try to interest my g/son Andy in this stuff. Dinosauers are okay but there is so much more to poke about in that subject. It's kind of fun to see where we all came from. Haven't quite reconciled creation to evolution but I expect sometime there will be an answer to that question as well. My friend Alice is doing well!! Although she has to wear a patch where her nose once was, she is out in public once again & living in her own apt. We had a pot-luck supper on Wed & she came & joined in & we were all very glad to have her
back. She has more surgery & a prosthetic nose slated for next year. Still don't know for sure if the cancer had spread anyplace else. but her outlook is up-beat & that is half the battle. Weather is spotty some snow flurries along the foothills but I am hoping for good driving conditions for Oct 13th. this time of year you can get just about anything. Love to all Marianne
Marianne, you should have been a teacher!or maybe even a nurse! I was just listening to a very beautiful voice , seems she was born in Winnepeg, Tracy Dahl, do you know of her? she was singing the beautiful words from the Voices of Spring.
Hope your weather will be good for your concert trip. thanks for the update on your friend Alice.We all wish her the very best.
Dear Shirley, Thanks for the compliment re the teaching & nursing jobs. I've been teaching informally for most of my life & the nursing, I do that too as all
aspects of medicine have been an avocation to me. It seems I always have my nose in a book of some sort. Likely read four books a week plus all the mags I get & then there is the time I spend visiting on this blog, which I enjoy totally. First thing I do in the A.M. is find out what is going on with everyone. Am tring to learn the other languages which is a challenge. I know one dutch word "groetjes" which I think means greetings or something of that nature. As for our loved Maestro, I don't think he had any idea of what he let loose in the world beyond his music.
It's like you toss a pebble in the pond & you know not where the ripples may travel, then you help someine with something & it comes back to you from an
unexpected source. Paul Potts has made it to being advertised with his 1st album on WXYZ. Detroit He's got a very nice voice too!! Will look up Tracy Dahl on the internet & let you know what I learn. Think someone wrote that all singers are the same. Each one is unique. Look at the indiduality of Carmen. Carla, Mirusia & Suzan. & the tenors too are all unique, then you get the differences between Italian & Irish
tenors. A world of difference & all enjoyable. That is the true miracle of
life, in all its' aspects. Am getting on my soapbox yet again as I would see respect between everyone & then maybe we could have true peace in this sometimes sad world. Love to all Marianne
Dear Shirley Re Tracey Dahl soprano
Use the above to find her on the internet where there is a very in depth bio. etc. She did begin in Winnipeg but
has sung with every major opera company
worldwide. Wouldn't mind hearing a sample of her singing. Love Marianne
Thanks Marianne,I did find a bio on her, she does have beautiful red hair doesn't she?I've only heard that one song on a NPR station and she did an excellent job on that one. I love this particular radio station, had classical in the afternoons, and other types of music in the evening. I was listening as Idid the dishes and heard some real oldies.A funny one I just heard, from the 30's was called "Never Swat a Fly", never ever heard of that one before. First line was "never swat a fly, he may love another fly, just as I love you"! crazy! then an old one with Ozzie and Harriet singing "The Folks At The Top Of The Hill". These are way before my time! Now I'm going to go and listen to my Fri. nite Riverwalk Jazz. They have some movin' music!
Your concerts are the most enjoyable entertainment on television. Keep appearing on public tv. James Last is the only one who comes close. Bravo
Will I ever be able to say something without being in a rush to do so? I don't know...I wait to get caught up, but it never happens. I keep hoping.
I am wishing everyone a wonderful Fall. I can see all the leaves changing already, some are even red already. It's so beautiful, blue skies and autumn colored leaves.
Everything is so exciting with Andre being in Australia. I wish I was there, but then, when he's here...then I'm glad I'm here. I only have 17 more days for the concerts. I'm not ready yet, last year I was already prepared with everything I need to do. I will be doing catch up soon.
I wish to thank all of you who have been reporting from Australia, giving all the wonderful news and fantastic photos of our maestro! It was fun seeing Andre being advertised on the taxi cabs. I'm very pleased to see all the wonderful turn out of people to the mall promotions. It must have been quite exciting seeing Andre up close and getting his autograph. I know he could not give 3000 autographs, however, just being there must have been special.
I am really anxious to hear Andre play Waltzing Matilda. I remember that song from when I was a little girl. I used to hear it on the radio, I think, maybe somewhere else too. I don't know the reason for hearing it here in America so much, but I've loved the melody all my life, due to my childhood memories.
Well everyone, it's time to get going to work...I would rather just talk to you and read all the nice reports and look at all the pictures, but I cannot.
Thank you Sally for all the work in putting all the news up, it's beautiful, updated and pleasant reading.
Hello All Dear Fans: Don't forget to check out the home page of our site: AndreRieuFans.com & check out News Page too. Don't forget to look at the new links from our wonderful Aussie Fans as well as Lorraine's story on Jacqueline du Pré
Been there, done that! looking good!
Good morning, everyone, and Happy Fall. Leaves are turning all kinds of beautiful colors and the air is cooler and crisper in the mornings in particular. Love it! It's fun to read and hear about all of the excitment of the Australian fans and their reaction to André coming to Australia. When I was first introduced to André and his music many years ago, he was just being introduced on PBS and wasn't the superstar he is today. My German friend just kept telling me about this neat violinist and his orchestra on TV, so since I went over there a lot, I watched and was hooked. It was a much more subtle process. So, it's fun to relive that with all of the excitment that's going on in Australia. I wonder how it will be in Mexico and South America. I heard he is also planning to go there at some point.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hello Marilyn: Yes the Fall Leaves are starting to turn Color. After a mild summer, (global warming having missed the West Coast), we are heading into Fall. I love the Colors, the Smell and the Texture of Fall. Such a wonderful time.
http://suisunvalley.com/
Wow Sally, I just checked out the site and there is tons of things to do! There is no way one could see and do all this in one day. Sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks for the side-step out of our own hometown and into lovely California!
Sally, that is a great place. Lots to do I'll bet. Thank you for sharing it with us. The trees are starting to change here. Some of the early trees have some red leaves so you can tell Autumn is on the way. Next to Summer, I love the Autumn but Winter nooooo. It gets too cold for me. But I must take what comes. I always thought the flowers and Rhodys (as I call them) were dead during that time until I heard what Andre said when he was speaking with PBS about his Rhodys, he said "unfortunately they are sleeping right now" and I never forgot how nicely he reminded me that the flowers that bloom and the bushes do not die, only sleep.
I think I love Sally's Suisun Valley. this made me soo fruit hungry.I love autumn too but our leaves don't really start turning til about the middle of Oct.love the smell of burning leaves,the air alive with the smell of apples, the pumpkins, the hay bales.Like Jeanine Ann, I dread the cold, but guess everything has to sleep.Got a notice from the Dutch Gardens that my Andre tulips will be shipped in a couple of weeks, now I just have to decide where to put them. I was looking earlier at the Tokyo stadium where Andre will have his next concerts. What a modern looking building that is. Japan, here he comes!
Hello to all my special friends at Andre Rieu Fans and Friends. We are in St. Petersburg, Russia and having a great time. We went to the castle of Catherine the Great yesterday and it would be a great place to have a Andre concert.
My best to everyone
DJ BOB (Hooked on Russia)
Greetings DJ! Glad you are enjoying your trip. Tell us all about it when you get back.
Oh hi DJBob, didn't excpect to hear from you from Russia! Glad you are having a great time. Bet that castle would be a great place for Andre. He keeps thinking of all these great places like Australia and Russia and we will have farther to go to see him!! I would if I could. Have a great time and safe trip to you. Hugs to both
To our new Fans, Welcome to our Family of Friends. Where all are welcome. Join us and share the Happiness & Joy of this Wonderful Man & his Music.
I MISS KATI. I HOPE SHE IS HAVING A NICE VISIT.
Oh I miss our Kati too! I think about her every day. She will soon be back. Kati, we miss you, miss you, miss you! You know. we have all grown quite fond of you, even Mr Bill!
I miss Kati too...i hope when she returns she will tell us all about her trip...where she went, what she ate, what she saw. And.....I hope she took lots of pictures. Hungary must be absolutely beautiful with all those deep lush green pine trees...and the Budapest...wow...would love to go to the hot baths there. She'll be home soon, No?
Hello! Last night after my work, I looked at the Suisun Valley Family Day...and when i slept i did a little "California Dreaming": I found myself in the valley, and who should I meet there but Sally, Shirley, Jeanine-Anne, Kati (how she got there from Europe I don't know!),both Barb's, Marlene, Marilyn, Marianne and lots of new fans from Australia! DJ Bob and his wife were there too (they must have taken a day out of their Russian holiday). We all had some Mario Lanza champagne, local Enchiladas and Rice, Gourmet Salads, Homemade Ice Cream, and picked fruit to our hearts' content! We then went over to Sally's. She had her backgarden all set up with a lovely little tent and area for dancing. We waltzed to Andre's waltzes way into the morning...and then we all sadly said goodbye...California Dreaming....
Hahaha.......Lorraine, I always did love that song anyway, and I love that dream. Wouldn't that be the best time ever?
Dear friends A warm welcome to Bill & Irena, Perth Australia. What a lovely way to have an anniversary/honeymoon!!
I have two weeks & my G/S Andy & I will be on our way to the Edmonton concert.
Will leave early in the day so I can go to the venue & maybe get pics of the busses & maybe some of the orchestra members for autographs, but will not intrude on their privacy unless invited
Now all I can hope for is good weather
which can be iffy this time of year. We've already had some snow but it didn't stay & the rain yesterday was cold & damp. This time of year our weather comes from the Northwest or East
right off the tundra & it is cold. I sam
much like Jeanine Ann, don't like winter
but you have to take whatever is dished out. Got a solution to the sore shoulders, put a thick book on my chair
so I'm not constantly reaching. Such a small thing but it does serve the purpose. Sally, would you pass my cell phone no, to Al Girard, it is 403 501 5122, as my e-mail doesn't work unless i disable all my security programs & that's a real nuisance. I can receive just fine but the sending is just impossible. Love to al Marianne
Somewhere in cyberspace is the long post I just lose, don't you just hate that. I will try to remember what I said. Bill and Irena thanks so much for your wonderful report on your anniversary trip. What a time to remember! The photos are beautiful too. Thanks for sharing
Lorraine, that was a beautiful dream. Usually my dreams are strange and I am always working hard or running. I think I would like California - so much to see and do.
Marianne, only two weeks to go. You must be so excited! I hope you get to talk to some of the JSO and see the buses. If you get to see Andre give him our LOVE
Been busy thinking about and planning the fan dinner for Toronto. To date we have 53 people with some coming as far away as Australia and the Netherlands! We should have a great time. I often wonder how Andre does so much hard work and puts so much love and enthusiasm into these "special" concerts like the Viennese Nights. Bless his heart, he gives us so much. But that is the way he is. Hugs to all
Just thought of something that I said in my "lost" post. I miss KATI too. Does anyone know when she returns! Hugs
Jeanine Ann, I think she said Oct.1, so it won't be long.
HI BOB AND MARIA SO GLAD YOU BOTH ARE HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME IN RUSSIA..BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING HERE IN AUSTRALIA WE HAVE HAD A BIG WEEK WITH ANDRE HE
WILL BE COMING HERE IN 2008 SO YOU BOTH MUST COME HERE TO THE GOOD COUNTRY WE ARE ABOUT ONE AND A HALF HOURS DRIVE FROM WHERE HE IS GOING TO PERFORM LOVE TO YOU BOTH MOIRA AND BILL
Thank you Shirley, that is not long at all.
good evening to all from sunny Italy. I have just returned from escorting lovely Americians, Australians and Canadians on a tour around Italy.. left my 'knight in shining armour' to secure tickets for MAASTRICHT 5 July 2008. he got 8 tickets through www.budgetticket.nl , however, I have no idea where the tickets are, except that they are catogary 1. does anyone know of any other web sites or contacts for Maastricht 2008? am now very concerned since Sally has written a few days ago that 'pre sales' tickets are not necessarily the best. I DO THINK IT WOULD BE NICE if Andre and JSO REAL fans could have first knoiwledge of ticket sales !!! am off to make spaghetti.. and hope to meet all of you going to Maastricht...!
Adele, when you go to the budget.nl site, there is a box that one can click on to see the layout of the event. If Category 1 equals C-1...you might be disappointed. C-1 is all the way in the back of the event...farthest from the stage to the right, C-2 is in the middle, but still the very last section/rows of the event. Maybe you should find out if Category 1 indeed translates to C-1. My 2cents. L
Hi Lorraine, Are the tickets for Maastricht (if you know) on sale anywhere else? I haven't heard a word about it. I know Kati said she was interested in going and Ruth Morgan would like to go but she has been in Florida since last week. There is nothing on Andre's site. Thanks and hugs to you.
Hi Jeanine, I don't think the tickets are on sale anywhere else. I just checked out the budget.nl sight because i was curious as to what was available and it looks like Category 1 is not so great...(if that translates to C-1). As far as their being on sale elsewhere as of this date, i really do not know...sorry. Can one email the help desk to find such things out? Or perhaps post a letter in Andre's guestbook asking when the tickets will be available to purchase as good seats are desire. Maybe that would be the way to go, L
Hi Adele, I was surprised to read about the tickets because I didn't even know they were on sale as yet. I don't know if Sally or anyone else here knows but perhaps they can help. I went to the web site and saw the two categories of tickets so I would think cat.1 would be better than cat. 2. There are some of us going next year but I am not sure I can because I have bought tickets for three other concerts in America. If I hear anything I will post here. Hugs to you in sunny Italy from sunny (today) America!
HI Jeanine Ann, I see that you post a lot on this site, and thats great!! yes, i am wondering about the tickets that we booked, not keen on the fact that we dont actually know WHERE they are.. am currently looking for hotel space. Hotel Du Casque is FULL for 4th & 5thy July.. does anyone know of any other hotels ON THE SQUARE.. the ultimate would be to have a room with a view, night before 'my concert' and booking in a restaurant, BUT not one of the restaurants that caused all the trouble last year !!!!! will keep looking at booking web sites and let you all know... good to go on google.nl (netherlands/holland) night all..
Dear friends. My tickets arrived in the mail this morning, so now I am set!!
For Al the motel is Best Western on 50th St N.E. & I hope to be there earlyI had heard that Maastricht concerts were on hold due to unruly
patrons. Haven't seen a thing on Ande's agenda so it's a bit curious. He has the three concerts in Tokyo & them to Portland Oct 9th. & in Edmonton Oct 13th
Am getting more excited by the day, & hope the weather co-operates. We've had cold rain some snow in the mountains, but so far it hasn't stayed on the ground. Nothing else for the moment except the fact of overwhelming reception in Oz. When the tour takes place next Nov/Dec they are in for a real treat. Expect their travels will be by air as the train from Sydney to
Perth is some 4000 miles of desert called the Nullabor plain It was quite a feat of engineering when it was built almost a century ago. Australia is surely a land of contrast from desert to
jungle, tropics to temperate. But it is still a young country, even compared to Canada & the U.S. Still growing & developing. Read a series of novel byone Wm. Stuart Long about 20 years ago with all the history from the first
settlements to mid l956 or thereabouts
Altogether there were 11 books & I enjoyed everyone of them. Hope everyone is well Love Marianne
Hi Marianne, so glad you got your tickets. I hope the weather will be nice for you. I know you will have a wonderful time.
Judith check your email
Hugs to all
Andre Rieu talks to Spencer Howson (Brisbane)
By Heidi EllisSeptember 26, 2007
Two weeks ago, after persistent encouragement by one of our
listeners, Breakfast presenter Spencer Howson sat down and watched an Andre Rieu
concert on DVD. Rieu is a Dutch violinist and conductor Spencer had never had
never heard of, but now he's hooked.
Needing to know more, Spencer lined up to talk to Andre. To
help him out he called in the fans who recommended Rieu to him in the first
place, Brian and Jill from Ningi.
An enthused Brian jumped right in to ask when Andre which
cities would be included in Andre's tour of Australia, planned for December next
year. "We are planning to go to five cities, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane,
Adelaide and Perth. Because we have so many fans here we are going to plan to
play in the football stadiums."
Andre has grand plans for the visit. "We were playing in
Vienna... a year ago with the dancers and the horses and the ice wings and I'm
going to copy that whole decoration, the whole chateau, the whole castle and
I'll bring the whole thing to Australia."
Andre says he wasn't snubbing Australia by not coming in the
past. "It's a long, long way to go to Australia. And nobody is paying me, no
government is paying me, so it's very difficult to pay everything, to be able to
pay everything and bring the whole circus over. So I had to wait until the
record company would make me known to the people and that's what they did now
and so they created the opportunity for me to be able to come over."
So what makes Andre's performances so special? "I think I am
simply myself on stage and I try to give them the feeling that they don't have
to afraid for classical music or even for me. People always ask how do I make my
programs and it's very simple, I make them with my heart. When it touches me
then it will touch the audience.
Andre Rieu and his orchestra will perform in Australia for the
first time in December 2008.
Does anyone know where Andre &JSO will stage their concert in Brisbane? Also how does one book to get really good seats? Does fan Club have a contact? Any Advice appreciated. Really want to obtain best seats for self and friends. We so enjoy their music. Thanks Anne
good evening Marianne, Jeanine Ann, Lorraine and indeed all Andre & JSO fans. to put you in the picture re the MAASTRICHT concerts 2008. We booked 8 tickets thru www.budgetticket.nl I was not sure of the seating.. front part is A 1 = left side front. A2 = middle front. A3 = right side front. B is the same as A but furthur back, C furthur back again. Got my husband who is from beglium and Flemish sepaking, to phone the web sites help line.. they said ' Catogary 1 = best available seats (i.e NOT C1 at the back) since you booked so early , you should have good seats, probably in A2...the shows are definitely going to take place, according to them. So far, i have found only budget ticket and www.onlineticketshop.nl . be carefull of this site, as they say they will sent tickets only 1 week before the concert. Does anyome remember WHICH WEB SITE SOLD TICKETS FOR MAASTRICHT 2007? may well be the same site for 2008..
ANDRÉ RIEU BRINGS THEM IN
September 26,
2007
Dutch violinist, André
Rieu, has sold 300,000-plus units of his
DVDs and CDs in the last twelve months in
Australia. So his record label Universal
expected a brisk turnout when he made two
in-store appearances as part of his first
ever promo tour, on Saturday 22nd at JB Hi
Fi at Eastland Shopping Mall (Melbourne) and
Sunday at Mall Music at Warringah Mall
(Sydney). The Melbourne appearance was
attended by 3,000 and sold 1,000 units at
the store. The Sydney one drew 7,000 people,
and shifted 1,000 units. "This is by far the
biggest personal appearance we have hosted
in over 26 years of retail," says Geoff
Bonouvrié, owner of Mall Music.
"He is the most important
act the music industry has seen for the last
10 years," says Songland Records owner and
founder Brian 'Frog' Harris. "He is
appealing to the demographic that doesn't
usually visit record stores, is not
over-concerned about price point but is
passionate about music."
Before Rieu departed, he
confirmed he's returning for a concert tour.
It read: "I'm overwhelmed by the warm
reception from the Australian people.
Everyone has been so friendly and
down-to-earth. I'm ecstatic about my
Australian chart success and I can't wait to
return for my concert tour in November 2008.
I feel that my life has entered a new phase
and Australia has played a very important
role in this."
Dear friends Re the Maastricht concerts
I do believe they were cancelled, but the Masyor & Andre had a meeting with a contract set in mid- Sept so the unruly behavior will be avoided, but there has been nothing on his agenda to re-instate
the concerts, so I think we alll must be very wary. It would be very sad to have all the folks going to the expense of travel & then find no concerts. Hope they get that problem solved soonest for
everyone's benefit. We are having a bit of weather just now. Came out of Wal-mart yesterday afternoon & the wind was so strong & gusty you could barely walk against it, & we had a temp drop of nearly 20 degrees. Our weatheman says the only thing about Alberta weather is how quickly it changes. Other news not so good as my G/S Andy is wavering in his wish to accompany me so I've given him until next week to make up his mind
May have to get another companion or go alone, but we shall see what happens.
Most mikely wil ask my son to go along
or one of my friends in the building, but he may just decide not to disappoint gramma. Think we are in for a few gloomy days. Hate winter & the necessity of bundling up coats, gloves
etc. but anyway my apt is cosy & warm &
so is my car so It's just from here to there that one gets chilled. Love to all Marianne
Hi Marianne, Just wanted to wish you much warmth. I can really relate to what you're saying about the cold weather. I'm not much for it myself. But you sure have a good attitude...i.e. your apartment is warm and cozy and so is your car! I hope Andy goes with his wonderful grandma to the concert...kids are like that...they want to do their own thing don't they!
i'm thinking many warm thoughts about you marianne...hope they reach you along with all those who love you on the blog to keep you nice and toasty as those winds blow in Alberta, Love, L
Hi dear friends, just checking in. Sick day today. Guess I did too much yesterday (my usual grass cutting jobs) and I woke up sick. Didn't sleep well either, even dreamed I was sick
Will try grocery store later but I think a big dose of Andre will really cure me.
Sally that is a very interesting chart, just shows how much of our activity comes from Australia. That is a great article you posted. Just imagine 7,000 people in one mall and Andre in the center of it all
Marianne you stay warm; I can guarantee in a few weeks you will not be feeling any cool or cold winds
Hugs to all, Hi Lorraine
Hi Jeanine! Hope you feel better! I am also under the weather today...just generally feeling icky...tired, the usual sukso mukso...(meaning don't feel good, don't know what i want or can do to feel better)...this too shall pass!Love U, L
Hi Lorraine, thank you and I hope you feel better too. I am recovering tonight so maybe a good nights sleep will help us both. You take care. Love U too. Hugs
Ok. Chicken Soup for Jeanine Ann, Lorraine and myself today.
Bah humbug. I've got a cold.
I just found this site. My 4 year old daughter is a HUGE fan of Andre's and has been so since she was about 18 months old. I am looking forward to his return to Pittsburgh, PA so that she can attend a concert. I would love for the change for her to meet him, as she talks about him almost every day.
Hi Sarah, I hope you will get the chance to see Andre again too.Is Andre returning to Pittsburg next year? I read in Andre's guestbook that a fan had already purchased tickets to a Reading concert. You might call your PBS station, WQED, and inquire about this.Maybe you could go to Reading as well.I really don't know that much about next year's concerts myself but I would be calling to find out.
Hi Sarah, I don't think Pittsburgh is on Andre's tour schedule for next year. I realize that Reading is quite far from Pittsburgh but they are taking pledges for tickets now. I pledged already so you can try if you don't mind making the trip. It is channel 39 in Bethlehem/Allentown. Let me know if I can help you in any way. I will get the site for you and be back in a minute. Hugs
Hi Sarah, here is the website:
http://www.wlvt.org when you get to the site, click on "concert Tickets" on the right. The site was a little busy when I just went there and I could not get through to the next page but I am sure it will show Andre's concert at the Sovereign Center on May 26, 2008.
Hugs
Dear Jeanine & Lorraine. Sorry to hear you are under the weather. Think a lot of our ickyness comes from the fewer hours of daylite in the fall. But to-day was really nice Clear blue sky warm
like almost 70 degrees & no wind. Vast improvement over yesterday. Turned my Doc on to Andre yesterday. It was a short appointment 15 minutes but we went on line to Andre's site & the first thing was the music! He had asked me when the concert is to be so I told him &this A,M. I had to call re a screw-up on my regular subscriptions. Usually get them for 3 month so I'M not paying so many pharmacy fees. Had also found out tht there were two tickets available so passed the message The are at the back of the floor area but dead centre & not in the rafters. He's of Dutch descent but born on South Africa.
For me it was a real pleasure to see him more as a person than just a physician, More of my small town up=bringing, but I consider him a friend as well as doc, & I worry than he is inclined to over extend himself,
just as Andre does to bring his fans such perfection in both presentation & performance. anyone who has a profession has had a very long & hard road to get to the top & stay there. no
matter what the profession might be, there is always more you can learn to be a better purveyour of your craft. That is why medicine is more classed in the arts than other modes of life. My late husband was an electrician with a staff from 3 to 20 at peak times & he never had the time to read just for entertainment as there was always something new to be applied. We did all kinds of installations from houses to hospitals so the scope of work was very varied. It was fun to learn which I did from the grassroots as I had to learn all the terminology, which was a challenge all by itself. I think the main thing I learned from the exercise was to keep an open mind to all the new stuff coming on the market. Now it is using the new fluorescent lamps instead
of the old incandescent. That saves both money & the environment so there are things we can do. Had to buy a new
shredder & the packing is no longer that white syrofoam its a kind of pressed cardboard whic is re-cycleable
Also bought two shopping bags, which are strong handles & some kind of paper fabric with thread for strength so I will use those from now on & get rid of the plastic bags, so I'm trying to do what little I can for our world. The bags are at Wal-mart for 97 cents each
Not a bad price, & I expect they would be even less stateside. Was up early this morning so will check the andre site & go to bed. Love to all Marianne
Sally dear - hope your cold is better today! Take lots of vitamin A
Hugs to you
Marianne, that is grat that you turned your doctor on to Andre. Once anyone sees and hears him they are hooked! You take care of yourself. It won't be long now until your concert
Hugs
Hi all you Andre fans from sunny calif
we are looking forward to see our Andre in December in Oakland Calif.
Does anyone know the words to the nuns chorus that was in New York Memories?
My mom loves that piece
Thanks and have a lovely day
Marie
Hi. They can be found on Andre's website under Music, then Lyrics.
Hope this helps. Best wishes.
thanks I will check the website.
Hi again All. Had to come back & finish reading Marianne's comment. Good for you girl to share Andre with your DR. Hope everyone who's feeling a bit icky gets over it pronto!We are having a 90 degree day today, grass is greener than it was earlier. Sure doesn't look or feel like fall here! Mowed the grass, cleaned up and now ready to put my feet up and listen to my favorite Andre cd! BTW, before I forget, did anyone see the gorgeous harvest moon last night?Wed was too cloudy here, but last night was perfect. HA, I might even listen to Andre's SONG TO THE MOON! (if I can find it).
Shirley...love Song to the Moon...one of the most beautiful pieces of violin music...so wonderful...it's like you can imagine the things being said to the moon by the violin...ahhhhh Dvorak...the best...let me know which disc its on ...i didn't even know Andre played that one!
Sally and Jeanine feeling better? Love, L
Hi Lorraine, and Marianne. Marianne, you're right, it is on Love Songs, but I found it on the dvd of Romantic Moments too. I couldn't find it on a cd, is it on cd or not? Anyway, I just watched that part of the dvd and then I listened to my musik zum traumen. Oh I love that one too! I think I fell asleep right after Mozart!
Dear Shirley You will find Song to thr moon on thr "Lovesongs" dvd I hear it frequently on the music channel which I listen almost 24/7 Do watch some stuff on the tv but mostly I listen to music
all instrumental & sing the lyrics in my head when I weant to sleep. much better than counting sheep Love to all Marianne
Hi everyone! Isn't there a CD of Romantic Moments and Love Songs? They have Song To The Moon. I will check but if Shirley is looking for the CD I think the song is on those CD's. Hugs
Hello everyone. Yes, Song to the Moon is on the Romantic Moments CD. It's one of my favorites. Everyone have a nice weekend. It's going to rainy and colder in the Pacific Northwest. I have gotten my wool sweaters out. Cheers.
Thanks girls, I finally found the cds. I still had them in my cd player,it stacks 5 at a time & I had forgotten they were in there. I usually listen with my portable most of the time. Neighbors think I'm growing Mickey Mouse ears!
(this is from Webmommie's mail)
Marlene sends us this from Kati:
I got cards from Kati! But I don't have a scanner, so just waiting for her return. Any day now, and we will welcome her back with open arms! Wonder what Centa will do?
I'm with you Shirley, I bet Centa will run as fast as she can when she hears Kati coming in the door. No doubt she is missing her Mama!
Yes, I bet she is. It's good that our pets don't have any conception of time. However, I still felt they did when I went away. I always hoped that they would remember me,
I'm sure that Centa is missing her mama very much, and both will be happy to see each other when Kati returns.
I miss her too.
Those cards are really beautiful! How nice of her to send them. Cannot wait until she gets back. Thanks for sharing them Marlene
I just sent the one with Joseph and Sissi in the Vienna Villa. Sally had the other one with the impressive buildings,
So that's who that couple is. I wondered. Thanks for the picture and thanks to Sally for the pictures of the beautiful buildings.
dear friends. I'm having an Andre nite with eht Schonbrunn dvd. Poor tuen acting like a tipsy one and getting thumped, the whole audience just roared with laughter & the Frederic Jenninges is so sober but he can sure play the zither. Romatic moments does have Song to the moon along with my favorite Die leitze rose. I can't really pick any one song that is better than another. like them all. Am afraid my G/S may jam out & not go but we shall see. If he doesn't come along with me he will miss out on a fantastic experience so it will be his loss. That weekend is going to be a corker as my son;s g/f is to come from Vancouver to Calgary & I may have to take my friend in to Calgary to catch the plane on the 12th, then to Edmonton on the 14th, home & back into Calgary so Donna can catch the plane back to Vancouver. Son Alan will do some of the driving but if it is Pat's van I'll be doing the driving.
Just bad timing as it's all the same weekend Oh well it's a lot of driving but the good thing is the airport is east of town so I don't have to fight all the normal traffic. Have my route mapped to Edmonton which is about a 5 hour jaunt but it is straight through so
not so bad as it will be all in daylite
Took a while to find my maps as I'd tucked them in a bag & forgot where I put them. Absent-minded professor but they did show up so I didn't have to go buy a replacement. Been there & done that too. Went to my daughters' for dinner.Just us as all the males in the family went camping & fishing in the mountains. Kathy had her house to herself so she was glad to stay home & start the fall clean-up of the garden. I came home with fresh beets zuchinni
cake & one green tomatoe, which I like to saute in butter. Very different from a fresh ripey. but tasty. Love to all
Dear friends Wanted to wish our Maestro a best Happy birthday, but the posting area is missing at the moment so will send the wish from here. It's Sunday, 9 a.m. MDT It's cool but no big rain & no snow. The forecast for the 13th is still all good. Apologize for the double posting yesterday The little box kept saying the numbers didn't match so
I guess it was okay one extra time. It is odd how that works, should have checked to be sure. Just getting my day begun with a few little chores like put my laundry away. At least it is done &
all the duds are clean. Nothing I own needs ironing anymore so that's one chore that I don't have to do. Would rather scrub the floor than iron!! But when I do any sewing the iron is part of the work. Especially making slacks as
you can get the centre leg crease so it is permanent. Love to all Marianne
Dear friends I forgot to mention the pics sent by Kati. They really are spectacular. I don't expect I will ever get a trip to Europe unless I win a nice fat lottery. The shot of the Schonnbrunn was a differt angle than the one we see on Andre's dvd & I agree
that the people are Franz Joeseph &
Sisi. Thanks for sharing Kati's pics, Sally & Marlene Love agaon Marianne
Hi everyone, here is a fascinating page where you will find a UTube video of the making of a Gliga violin.
Dear friends Song to the moon is also on the Romantic Moments cd. Missed it to begin with but went back & really looked more closely. I have four 35mm cameras, each with auto flash so I hope I can use them in Edmonton. When & if I get pics will send them so Sally as I don't know how to up load them. Don't think I can do it without a scanner which I don't have. Let me know if you want prints or negatives. Love to all Marianne
