Hi All-
The countdown is on...10 days and counting until my Mom gets to see her HERO Andre' in Albuquerque, NM and I'm still trying to find a twinkle-toed Gent to waltz her down the aisle. Come on, guys- don't be shy! She's a beautiful blonde, and I'll even spring for a pre-show cocktail as an added bonus!
Well Kathy, if the concert in NM is anything like the ones up here in the NW, then there will be a very nice, energetic, happy fellow, just waiting for the opportunity to dance with a beautiful blonde!
I want to wish everyone a very happy and Merry December! I hope it's a great one...and I know it will be for those of you who are going to the concerts scheduled. I'll sure be thinking of you and wishing I was there.
Hey Marlene-
Nice, energetic, happy fellow sounds PERFECT.....NAME, PLEASE!!! hahaha
A few years ago the People's Choice Awards voted on the greatest entertainer of all time.
Now when I think of great entertainers I think of Bob Hope (vaudeville, radio, records, movies and dozens of USO tours.) I also think of Bing Crosby (pretty much the same as Bob Hope), Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, Al Jolson, Lucille Ball, Jon Clease, Jackie Gleason and so many more. And of course, Andre Rieu who's quickly becoming a MAJOR entertainer.
So who do you think "The People" voted as the greatest entertainer of all time?
Great Question Al !
I wonder if people vote "in the moment" (as they seem to do) and voted for Elvis. Perhaps Charlie Chaplin?
I think the Entertainer I would have liked to meet would have been Walt Disney. And artist? Leonardo.
That's a tough one as there have been so many wonderful entertainers.
I think probably Elvis was - at least in the 20th Century and he still is after so many years since his death. He was a fair bit older than me but I saw him when I was a kid in Blue Hawaii and I have been hooked ever since. Even the people in their 20's & 30's here love him now. There was and never will be anyone like him.
But there are the "Golden" stars of Hollywood like Stewart Grainger, Clarke Gable and the list is endless. So who do you choose???
Andre is in a category of his own - no-one can hold a candle to him at all - all ages love him.
Hope everyone has a very happy and safe Christmas - we will as usual swelter over a hot oven in 30 to 35c heat. I am soooooo looking forward to November 2008.
Cheers
Pauline - Melbourne - Australia
"The People" voted Tom Hanks as the greatest entertainer of all time! AARRGGHHH!!!
UGH.
Don't get me wrong. I like Hanks. He is a gifted actor. It is the "Of All Time" designation that I would object to.
What about Stage Actors? Or oracles of ages past? What about people we know nothing of, such as the story tellers of Africa? They walk from village to village sharing history, bringing it to life. Hans Christain Anderson, was he not an entertainer?
Hanks over The Beatles? Victor Borge? Bob Hope who for so so many years flew into war zones so others could laugh.
Oh there are too many to choose from!!
TOM HANKS?! FOR ALL TIME??? You've got to be kidding!Granted, he saved Private Ryan,he was good in the Philidelphia movie, but my gosh, Forrest Gump had more intelligence! A good actor, yes, but not for all time. What group of "people" were they asking?
WHAT????? Tell me I am on the wrong blog or something. I just get home and see this about Tom Hanks (who's he). There must be some mistake. Maybe this was a poll on Mars or something.
We all know who is the greatest entertainer of all time don't we!!! ANDRE RIEU!! Hugs from a cold, icy, rainy, snowy in the Mid-Atlantic (sorta Northeast) section of the country. Bet it is warm in Calif.!!!
Absolutely, Jeanine, André is the best entertainer of all time. I'm with you.
Tom Hanks???????? wow...never would have guessed that! Interesting.
Tom Hanks??????? wow...
I do like him...but the "GREATEST" entertainer???? wow....
Ok...I'm dumbfounded.
I guess I didn't think when I said Tom Hanks "who's he". There are people who like him. I was just so disappointed that Andre was not voted the greatest entertainer. Why didn't they ask us?
As with all opinions - it just depends who you ask! Hugs to all
""There was and never will be anyone like him""
I think that's it Pauline. He had something Unique.
I don't know who "the people" voted for. I would think it might depend on the generation you were born in and also the part of the world you lived in.Overall, I'm probably with you on Bing Crosby & Bob Hope. Talking about "traditions", they were traditions for many households at this time of year. And as for traditions and customs at Christmas, I think, here in the US, it's a combination from many different cultures because we are a people of many different cultures. Personally I like the Victorian traditions, probably the "English" in me.Now André is part of my Christmas tradition!
Hi Shirley. I agree. We are a country of many traditions. I like the German tradition as my grandfather was German and André is part of my Christmas tradition now too.
We Australians know we live in the "Lucky Country" Look at this from "Ovation"
LEO SCHOFIELD IN CONVERSATION...WITH ANDRE RIEU
Wednesday 5 December at 7pm
World Television Premiere
In this Ovation exclusive, Leo Schofield visits the sensational Waltz King of Europe at his Maastricht castle. Also dubbed the Modern King of Waltz and the King of Romance, Andre Rieu is adored by millions and is set to take Australia by storm when he brings his show to town next year. With Ovation audiences being the first in Australia to discover and embrace Andre and his Johann Strauss Orchestra, they will also be the first to be allowed into his home in this World Television Premiere.
Hello everyone. Wow all those who are going to see Andre soon must be so excited, hopefully this time next year it will be me that is so excited. Although I am getting worried, tickets for Melbourne have gone on sale but there is no mention of him coming to other states in Australia!! Lets hope ALL Aussies get the opportunity to see their idol. Lets keep each other posted on this wonderful website.
I had a sleep over at my sister Mavis's place last night. We went to visit Bill in hospital then came home and had an early dinner then settled down and watched the new Andre in Wonderland dvd. It was absolutely WONDERFUL. He is the most amazing entertainer.
I can't believe it's only 23 more sleeps till santa arrives... This year has certainly gone so quickly.
Have a lovely week everyone... thanks for being my friends... hugs to all Les xxxxxxxxxxxx
Dear Leslie, yes we are so excited, week after next I will be leaving for Canada. I can feel those goosebumps already. I cannot wait until you get your turn, then you will be counting the sleeps until you see Andre live in concert. Just think of the joy that will bring to you!
So glad you and you sister could visit Bill. Hope is doing ok. Bet the Wonderland is wonderful! Cannot wait until the postman comes with two white packages from Maastricht.
I have been so busy getting ready to leave that Christmas will be here before I know it. I am really worried about my kitty Honi. Her tumors are starting to bleed and I just pray that nothing happens while we are away. My sister will be watching over her. It is so sad to know that we had to prepare a place for her in the garden before the ground froze. I hope she holds on for a while. Keep praying for her. Thanks.
Hugs to all
Happy December, everyone. I am waiting to hear all about the concerts in his current tour. Lots of Christmas music no doubt. Last night I was playing his "Christmas with André Rieu" DVD - the one made in 1997. I love the Christmas music on the DVD and the CD as well - lots of traditional songs that I don't hear too often in the US, but lots that I really like. André and the JSO were all 10 years younger, most of them still with him. One thing that I always wonder about when I watch the DVD is how in the world they manage all of those lighted candles on the tree. It looks like a fire waiting to happen. There is lots of straw covering the floor, too. I've noticed lighted candles on the trees in videos taken in Germany also. What is their secret or do they have lots of fires? Have a great Sunday. It's very cold and rainy here - typical winter weather.
There are so many people who could be the Greatest Entertainer of all time. I tend to believe that it's someone who impressed us by not only their entertaining but also their humanitarian efforts. Among those that I can think of are the obvious ones such as Bob Hope, Elvis and of course our maestro André.
These men have entertained the world, impressed the world and have given us their "all". I'm sure there is more we could add to this list, however, these are the most prominent in my mind.
Sally said she wondered about people voting "in the moment", which is probably most likely. We also have the age group, "now" compared to "then" entertainers. How many people now days, who are voting, really remember Bob Hope for all he had done?
My vote, would be André of course, then Bob Hope, then Elvis. Then...
Well, I'm sure I'm missing some!
Dear folks. the vote on both German & Dutch sites has Andre leading by a fair
margin Keep voting folks & our man of the year will be our beloved maestro
Persoonvanhetjaar.nl and
Persondesjahres.de I can get the odd
cd or dvd at my local Walmart or at any of thelarger record outlets in either Calgary or Lethbridge. Both cities are a 2 hour drive from here so I don't get to go very often. Have to keep the notes short as the carpal tunnel plus arthritis has really flared up with this minus 18 to 15 weather we've had for the past week. Only blessing is no wind. Am still waiting for a nerve test since Oct 1st, so then they can schedule the surgery. Very slow going but will have to be patient. I have a love/hate emotion to the holidays, likely because so many of my family has passed on, but my children are here as are two grandsons, so it is not all bad. My kids, check on me all the time, so I never feel left out of things, but I will be fine. Will take a day, have a good cry as I recall all the friends & family who have already gone to their reward. Thank goodness I can lose myself in a book & worry about other folks trials. Reading a history of India, the partition etc. It is a real horror story, that iot still going on around the world in many places. We all pretty much believe in a supreme being, so how we worship should not be a big deal. The main thing is there is one Supreme God, in all major religions
& no-one should be persecuted or murdered because they worship differntly from yourself. Tolerance is
something we should strive for as we can build a better world. I studied all the major religions of the world about 25 years ago & I was struck by the similarities rather than difference between them. Having an u nderstanding of other cultures destroys the fear we have of anything different, and with that goes the intolerance. It's Xmas &
we should love our neighbor as ourself.
Have Happy Holidays everyone, Love Marianne
Hi Lesley, I am almost ready to leave the house, driving to Sacramento to see some nice friends. We've made plans for dinner and the concert. Of course, we will meet even more Friends while there. Moderator Bill sent a Surprise to me, and some of those will be going with me as well.
I enjoy the December concerts. A few beautiful Christmas songs and of course, waltzes.
Back soon ~LOVE TO ALL~Sally~
Have a great time, Sally. We will be waiting for your report. Marilyn S.
We will be waiting Sally! Have a great time!
I see your weather is 62 today, nice! No rain. We are getting deluged here.
No need to say this Sally but have a wonderful time!!!
YIKES! I sent a post Saturday afternoon and can't find it! Am I forever lost in cyber space? Barb Wilson? I had one question for all of you....have you noticed Andre has been wearing his tortise shell glasses in some of the DVDs? Happy Holiday season, Barb Wilson.....Let's see if this gets to you.
hahahha.Barb I read your comments yesterday but that was in Nov. We are in Dec now. November is gone with the wind! hahaha.yes! about the glasses...do you like them better or not? I think I like them.
I had seen your post Barb...can't remember where though
Personal thought here on his glasses...if he is like some...he wears the glasses sometimes, contacts sometimes. Sometimes, I've heard you have to give your eyes a rest from the contacts. Just a guess of course.
I've worn contacts for many years and they were just fine until I reached the point where I was not only near-sighted(distance vision not 20-20), but also had trouble reading close-up. So for awhile I kept wearing my contacts and also had glasses for close up. I wore the gas-permeable lenses (Hard ones) and so wore them all day. I got tired of that after awhile, so now I don't wear contacts, but just wear bifocals. My eyes are good enough to where I don't need to wear them all of the time - just when distance vision is needed (eg. driving) or reading. In one of the soaps re Efteling there is a scene where Pierre has been trying to get André to wear contacts, but André doesn't like them, so he is happy with just his glasses. He says his mother thinks he looks like a history teacher. I forget what no. soap that was. I don't know if he is near or far sighted, but I am sure he must have trouble with reading closeup. (We all seem to get there sooner or later.
I wore contacts too for years and now wear my glasses most of the time because I am near sighted. I tried the hard lenses and the soft lenses but as my eyes got drier I just stopped wearing them. I loved them because they were so convenient. I could check into them again since they are improved I'm sure.
I saw that soap too and he said he cannot wear lenses because he cannot get them into his eyes. I had that problem too and used a tiny rubber applicator (Clyde had the same problem) and it worked fine to put the lenses in and get them out. But I would say that Andre is near sited because he wears the glasses too much if he would need them for closeup but I am not sure. Either way I love him no matter what he wears. I don't know how he sees on stage without them but he looks much more handsome of course without them. My closeup vision is so good that I can see the smallest writing and even those tiny little white spider mites you get on plants I can see them and their tiny little legs that my husband says he cannot see. Well anyway I think Andre did change his glasses because he seemed to be wearing a more invisible type before and now the tortoise type. Hugs
Hi Jeanine. I'm glad you have good close-up vision. My closeup vision was worse when I wore my contacts, so I really needed those glasses. I never had problems getting my contacts in because I just put them on the bottom of my eye between the eyeball and lid, and then just pushed them up. Of course, they had lots of conditioner on them. I too love André no matter what he wears. Hugs
Well, gooollleee! I found Barb, she wasn't lost after all and I realize I really don't even know what day it is!! HA! Barb, you made your comment in the "where do you buy your cds and dvds section! So, you weren't floating in cyberspace after all!
Thanks so much Shirley. Hugs to you. How is your weather? It must be better than around here. Coming back from church though I saw we had ice on our windows so we got back just in time. I am just hoping nothing like this happens on the 12th.
Speaking of December I got on the blog and wondered where all the postings were and then just thought - oh this is a new month, gee time goes by so quickly. I found that the two plus hours you are at an Andre concert go the fastest. Hugs
Even tho I'm not going to André's concert in Sacramento tonight, I'm starting to get excited as tho I were. My brother and his wife are going, as is
Sally, so I guess I am remembering back to when I went to the Portland concert last Oct. and remembering how exciting it was. Is this crazy or what?
No Marilyn, it is crazy. I get excited too when I know someone is going to a concert because I know how much fun they are going to have and I am happy for them too. I think it is very nice of you to get so excited for someone else when you know you cannot be there. Do you have any planned for next year?
Hugs to you.
Sorry Marilyn that first sentence should say it is NOT crazy. Sorry
Hi Jeanine. Well, it's about 5 minutes to 8 - just about to start. I can feel the excitement building
Hi Marilyn, yes I was thinking about that also last night. The last time I was awake was 7:00 West Coast time so by 8 when they were all welcoming Andre I was sleeping. I can guarantee I will not be sleeping on December 14 and 15 when Andre comes on stage. It is a lot easier when he is in my time zone.
Hugs
Marily, Gerda, Marilyn B, Vernice - were there too.
And I too am like you were I get excited for others who have concerts. I get happy and excited for those going.
She already forgot my name, just because i had airplane problems? I did show up anyway! HAHAHA!!! Kati
Somehow my comments got filed under November and I can't reply to the kind comments.
As to my dislike of his NYC concert, I am not a big fan of the Brooklyn Gospel Choir. Andre has enough talent in his Orchestra and Choir for a full concert without them.
Thanks for the hint about recording devices. I will take a digital camera as well as my camcorder. I hope to get a video, but if not I will take pics.
This indeed will be a wonderful Christmas season for me. My only regret is that my 11 year old granddaughter won't be here in time for the Rieu concert. I think that she would have enjoyed the exposure to really good music. She loves to watch the DVD I have of Disney's Fantasia.
Again, the best of the season to all the Rieu fans across the world.
Ho, ho, ho,
Grampa Mike
I meant Harlem, not Brooklyn.
Well, hooray. Got my ticket for the Albuquerque concert today.
Seems to be a pretty good seat. Sixth row in the left front section.
Don't know it that will work. If it doesn't could someone tell me how to upload pics???
Thanks,
Grampa Mike
**pesto and it's here!
OK, HELP!
How do I upload an image to the Guestbook?
Grampa Mike
Hi Mike, please send the photo to us by email to: sally@andrerieufans.com
and we will get it on the blog.
Thanks much
I am happy for you! This Christmas show is very good. I always enjoy The Holy City. It is so beautiful as to bring tears.
Enjoy! And please do tell us about it and send your photos. I'm certain everyone will enjoy to hear about it.
Thanks Sally. I hope to have many pics to send to you to upload after the concert.
I was watching the Celtic Woman Christmas Show on PBS last night. Wouldn't be wonderful if they could join Andre for a concert? I'd love to see their dancing violinist doing a duet with Andre. And adding the 4 wonderful voices to the already glorious voices in Andre's group would be mind (and ear) lowing!!
I just found Manoe's "Rudolph" on YouTube. She really is an amazing all around talent.
Hope to have more after the concert.
Grampa Mike
Thank you Peggy of Germany
absolutely, positively, the most beautiful lady! Dan will come unglued! Thanks Peggy & Jeanine Ann.
You are most welcome Shirley. Keep Dan cool. Santa just came (in the form of a postman) and brought both Wonderland and Vienna DVD's. Whoopieeeee. I will be busy tonight. Hugs to all
BTW the photo of Carmen and the framed photo of Andre were taken by a professional photographer in Cortona. Hugs
Well aren't you the lucky one!?! I was hoping to get mine in the mail too but you probably ordered before me. Anyway I did get a nice surprise in the mail today.Remember when Wendy had us mail our letters to her to send to a lady , Wilma, in Australia? Well I got a Christmas card in the mail from Wilma today. Wasn't that neat? So thanks Wendy for introducing me to a new friend.
I'm so glad to see Carmen back. Is Carla still in the fold? I so love to hear these two sing together.
Grampa Mike
Well, I am back from the concert. I am rather miffed with PBS. The instructions they sent to get to the concert were entirely inadequate. I had to stop 3 times to ask directions and as a result arrived late. I could hear 76 Trombones playing as I entered but by then the entry procession was over,
The show was a little more serious than I had expected. No Manoe with her Rudolph mask, etc. But it was a lovely show, The Albukirk (as Andre referred to Albuquerque) fans seemed a little more subdued than most venues I have observed. Very few people dancing in the aisles (and then only when egged on by Andre) and no marching.
I was able to take some pictures and videos. You can see them here:
http://mike-allen.info/page32/page32.html
You will need QuickTime (free download from Apple) to view the videos. I do apologize for the shaky hand. Best I could do and I did get most of the audio.
I did miss Carla. I was hoping to see the "Doll" aria and "Juleska von Budapest" live and, of course a duet with Carmen. Carmen was, as usual, marvelous. Laura Engles is a great addition. The Australian Soprano (I keep forgetting her name) is a HUGE improvement over Suzan Erens.
The Platinum Tenors were every thing that I expected. Goulash, sausages, kangaroo and all.
Andre did several Encores (I lost count) including "America the Beautiful" and "Amazing Grace."
Manoe is such a multi-talented person, I would have enjoyed hearing her sing. Her Dixieland rendition of Jingle Bells caught me by surprise so I didn't get too much on tape, Damn, but that woman can swing!
All in all it was a good concert. I didn't think too much of the venue. I just hope the next time the JSO comes to Albukirk they can find a better place.
I am mostly a happy camper.
The best of the season to all the Rieu fans all over the world.
Grampa Mike
Some people are having trouble playing the movies on my website. I am working on it. Site will probably be down a while while I do. Sorry.
Grampa Mike
Dear Mike. If you want to look at the Nov Guestbook, scroll down to category archive, then click on Guestbook 19 & the past foru moths will come up so you can see what you wrote & any comments made by the rest of us, Happy Holidays
Love Marianne
Dear Marianne,
Unfortunately your web site seems to be made to Micro$loth standards, not Internet standards.
I am a Mac user and use Safari for my browser of choice. All I see in the Category Archive is a blank unless I actually put my mouse pointer over something that is hidden.
Sorry,
Grampa Mike
You can always type in the Search Box. That should help.
I AM JUST IN FROM THE SACRAMENTO CONCERT. OH GOSH. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MUCH I LOVE THE FANS & FRIENDS. VERNICE, MARILYN, JOANNE AND OF COURSE FROM Colorado, KATI.
THE CONCERT WAS FANTASTIC!! WE SAW CARMEN, LARA, MIRUSIA.. THE TENORS WITH THEIR TRIBUTE TO Pavarotti .. THE JSO - UNMATCHED IN TALENT COMBINED WITH FUN. AND ANDRE RIEU !
(story to follow, give me a bit)
Welcome back Sally, can hardly wait to hear about the concert!! Take your time though I will survive
Hugs to you and the great fans and friends you were with
The Tenor's tribute was a stunner!! To say the least, I got goose bumps all the way to the finish, wonderful! I did not have the snow in town, we were expecting, but all around us, so Bill you do have to wait a little longer for your snow ball!! I managed to be 2 hours late thou, had to fix one of the engine first, naturally, i had a seat on lucky number 13!!! HAHAHAHA I am glad i made it for dinner!! Kati
Everyone, & I mean everyone, is eagerly waiting for your report & photos. I nearly fell out of my chair when you said Carmen is part of this swing through the west. This will be my first time seeing & hearing Carmen, Mirusia, & Laura, live & in person at a concert.---here in Phoenix on Saturday night.
Yes Bill, it was a pleasant surprise to see and hear Carmen again! Beautiful as always! Kati
Sounds like you had a great time at the concert Sally! Can't wait to hear all the nice details, and I'll be waiting very patiently, well...sort of...ok, as patient as possible.
You had a nice group of fans and friends!
It's nice to see that Carmen was there!
It's finally letting up on the rain here, we got almost 3 inches of rain since Saturday. I really thought that maybe I should go ahead and start building the Ark.
Take care everyone.
I'm going to sit back and wait for those concert reports!
Sally,
Thank you, thank you, thank you, You have certainly put a wonderful smile on my face and lifted my heart. The dvd of the PBS specials are marvellous. I have only been home from work for 45 minutes and I have already watched 2 of the 4. I can hardly wait to show Mavis this when I see her on Saturday.... Also the photos are gorgeous, I have a lovely frame which I will place one of them in. How can I thank you for thinking of me in this way. Bless you. xxxx huge hugs to you xxxx Les
I see that Melbourne is now "officially" on Andre's site agenda,he recommends tickets through ticketmaster. So all you aussies should start watching the agenda, that is if you haven't already.
My Dear Leslie, According to the information I do think Andre will be in Perth. Wish I could help you more. As Shirley said try that news site. I will look around for information. Take care and don't worry. Hugs to you
Leslie dear, I don't know if this is the same as Shirley posted but I found this just now
http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/comments/0,21590,22847515-5012990,00.html
That should make you happy

i found out what the special gift is for the andre rieu ambassador they sent me an email! email me and i will tell u what it is!
jeffrubino@comcast.net
Hey everyone I just received my Vienna DVD today, have not seen it yet but will tonight. I hope all who ordered will get theirs soon.
Bob Ruark
That is great DJ. I would be very interested in what you think about it. I thought it was one of the most beautiful concerts I have seen. The music Andre chose was just perfect and the ending was just great. The dancing was just enough and there was a little bit of everything and everyone (Sopranos and Tenors) to compliment Andre and the JSO. Hugs
Hi friends,
I arrived home last evening from Sacramento. I had such a good time and so much fun I am still too excited to write it all down. Meeting Kati was one of the great highlights, she is so much fun! I got to see Sally and Joanne again as well as a bunch of other fans! Another highlight was running into Franco before the show and talking to him for about 15 min. I got a picture of him and Vernice. He seems to think Andre will be back on the west coast in the future. They like it here. Not sure when but I will be watching. We had quite a storm here on the Oregon Coast and now lots of flooding. My brother lives in the heart of the whole thing and says it is a mess. No power, no phones, and everything has blown over. He saw a new house where a creek had risen and was running through the middle of it.
Pretty odd for the high winds we had, usually not in the 100 mph.
Take care,
Marilyn B
Hi Marilyn, so glad to hear from you. You will have to tell us all about it when you recover. I am glad you had a good time.
That weather out there must be terrible. I heard it on the news. Hoping everyone is safe. Hugs
Hi Marilyn, i was thinking of you also, just seen the news Today on the Weather in your State. I was wondering, did you have to swim, or just put the extra water in buckets and water some plants outside. I am just joking! I know, it is not fun, happened a few times to us also, basement, i will never forget, one day coming home from work after midnight, and had to go help my husband, with Shop and wac. Was not funny!!!! I am so glad i made it to Sacramento, the engine made the same terrible noise on landing in Denver, but i thanked God, i was on the ground. I wonder, if it was the same plane, just cannot happen to me twice??? I did have a ton of fun!!! Kati
She just rubs it in,because i do not have a picture with Franco, and did not have a chance to talk to him either. Not to talk about Bela's steaming Goulash, huge pot with a ladle in it. I wanted to tell him that Goulash is very good, have to be a good cook, wanted to say something in Hungarian, but there were people behind me, who did not even like me taking pictures, so i did behave. One even asked me, if it does bother me, that I am taking the pictures, and i said no. Free Country!! Right?? Kati
hey every one i just ordered the andre rieu 2003-2004 high liths CD roms from andre's website can anyone tell me if they are good? thanks also i just notcied that they took the andre rieu 2007 calender off the website for sale of course i ordered mine 2 seconds after it came out:p but it was just a word to the public and fans lol thanks and please tell me how the cds are!
-jeff rubino
Hi Jeff, I am on my way out the door but the CD Roms are nice. Very informative. Wish they would bring a new one out. I guess they will put the new calendar on (I hope). Gotta run. Hugs
Hi Jeff: They are good. Lots of Photographs, information, videos on those CDs. I sure do miss them. Wish they would make more of them!!!!
Jeff, The CD roms are very good, something like visiting his web site with information on all his concerts etc for 2003-2004. I wish they would do more.
Bob Ruark
Bill, thanks for the lovely card! You really composed this because of me. Being good is no fun, you know that! Like to be honest with you, i like your CHARTREUSE color much better! Lovely card thou. We got 3-4 feet of snow around town, not in town, so made my trip possible, but when i got seat number 13, i knew something is not right. Sure enough, they did have to change the starter on one of the engine, they wanted me to be late!!I fooled them, and made it for a lovely dinner with my friends! Kati
HI all Andre & JSO fans. Why would you book Aussie tickets for Melbourne thru the Ovation Channel web site, when their top price is Aus $ 325, but ticket master top price is Aus 286 ? however, this is not as bad as the mark up that some web sites are doing... I saw the interview Andre did on German TV the other morning, and he said that some web sites are charging way over the odds for his tickets, but unfortunately, he can do nothing about it... big shame, because many people dont realize what the 'real prices' are, and worse still , when those web sites sell out of 'their allocation', they lead people to believe that the whole thing is sold out..!. it breaks my heart, to think that so many people are mislead. we dont mind to give 10% to a 'ticket broker', but not 100%! (as happens in some cases'
It is a pity that Andre's own site does not give the concert info earlier.. then we could book at the correct price..
Hey, everyone - - my Amsterdam ticket arrived in today's mail.
Well the tickets are on sale for Melbourne. Managed to get a ticket 5 rows from the stage. Looking forward so much
You'll want to put the ticket in a bank safety deposit box, for safe keeping <g>
Hi David,
I got tickets in the 5th row too Section A2. Which section are you in? Might see you there.
Hi, How on earth did you manage to get those great seats?
Hi everyone,Im new to this site but I must thank someone for the password for the presale tickets for Melb. We got our tickets 6 minutes before the close of sales which saved me having to queue for tickets. Area C for $198 oz dollars. will look forward to it and thanks again.Jan
Dear Aussie friends. When Andre first announce an trip to Oz, he mentioned Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, & Perth. The 1st presentation of this program with the Schonbrunn palace, ballet halls & ice rinks, which will put it in the Guiness world book of records for both set size & transport (some 125containers
Going by sea. It will be in a stadium, so what ever Perth has for a stadium, will be it. the number of performers is also up there in the most category, so you are in for a great show!! Expect the tickets will be for sale very soon.
as Sydney & Melbourne are already advertised. This distances in Australia are far just as they are in Canada. From
sea to sea it is some 3000 miles plus &
that doesn't include all the kink in the roadways. rail-lines are much more direct. The railroad across the Nullabor plain is the longest in the world as far as I know. A very long way across some of the most inhospitable land on the planet, & the builders had a yeoman job to accomplish the feat
Hope this helps a bit. Love to all our friends down under. We could stand some of your present hot weather, It's been really cold here for about 10 days Brr!!

Thank you Terezie!
Thank you Peggy from Dusseldorf, Germany. Her favorite photo and now mine too. Hugs
Hi all, the photo from Peggy got a little large because I put a frame around it. This photo was signed for her in Germany. I already put it on my "My Space" page with her permission. She hopes we enjoy it. We do enjoy it!!!! Hugs
OMG!!!!I just came on and up popped this huge picture of André & now I can't remember what I was going to say!!!! Thank you Peggy & Jeanine Ann. WOW! talk about SUPRISE!!!!!
My sentiments exactly!! OMG!!! Wow, I love this picture. Thanks Peggy and Jeanine Ann. Wow...yeah, our minds can only take so much at one moment in time, I'm at the max right now.
Fantastisch! Schön!
~Sally~
SPEAK ENGLISH! SALLY! I WOULD UNDERSTAND YOU, EVEN WITH MY ACCENT! KATI
Yes, THANK YOU Terezie! It was most wonderful!
What a great picture of a great man !!!!
Maybe we should have a contest to see who could come up with the best picture of André. It would be too hard - they are all good. This one would be one of the best ones, for sure.
Some random thoughts:
Andre and the JSO will be playing in Albuquerque. New Mexico on December 11th before heading to Toronto. I'm thinking that they'll fly because it's simply too far to drive in such a short time, and they will want to be refreshed and ready for the grand opening concert of their World Stadium Tour.
As a Canadian it makes me very proud that Andre has chosen to open his tour in my country.
I'll bet crews have already begun assembling the decore, as they call it, although I call it a set. The reason I think this is so, is because this will be the first time the set has been reconstructed in a stadium and they want to get everything right. Also, nothing is scheduled in Rogers Centre until after the concerts and after the set has been disassembled and removed.
I'll bet there will be a full rehearsal Thursday next week. How I'd love to be there for that.
Yes Al you are right. Pierre has been there this week and was not at the concert in Sacramento. I too would love to see that rehearsal. Wish there was a way. We will get to Toronto Thursday night but will stay in a little less expensive hotel for just that night and then make our way to the Renaissance Friday morning (early). The Banquet Manager who we have been working with said they are working on the set now and she said she heard it will be a spectacular event. Can you find out if they would allow anyone in for a rehearsal? Just a long shot thought. Thanks. See you soon. Hugs
I would think it will be a closed rehearsal so that there will be no distractions.
I fly to Toronto on Friday and will also stay at a less expensive hotel about a mile away from Rogers Centre and will move to Renaissance for two nights on Saturday. I fly home on the 17th.
Are we still on for dinner on the 14th? Just checking as I have not gotten any emails other than your posts.
The four of us arrive on the 13th and are staying at the Renaissance Hotel. My cell # is 804-840-1197. My email is bhgf@aol.com
Thanks
Hi Bruce, As far as I know the dinner is still on for the 14th. Virginia is the one who has it planned so maybe she will anwer this post. I made note of your cell phone just in case. See you next week!! I am getting excited! Hope the weather holds. Hugs
Yup we're still on. I have reserved space for us. Just spent the last two days driving from Maine and Lake Placid and back through the mountains because our favorite aunt died. Two of my brothers and I went. With all the snow it took about eight hours each way. But it's impossible to get there any other way in a shorter time. But we made it, and her family was happy we did, so that's what counts. I have to work right up until Wednesday night, so at some point will find time to throw some stuff together and pray for good weather. I work part time but because my schedule got all fouled up this week told them I would come in. Something is not going to get done but haven't decided what yet. Looking forward to seeing all of you.
Sorry to hear of your loss. We do look forward to meeting you and, yes, let us hope that bad weather does not interrupt travel plans. If you carry a cell phone, send me your number. bhgf@aol.com
Thanks,
Bruce
Yes it is still on. Reservations have been made for 5:30 at the Renaissance.
Hi Virginia, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope all goes well for you. I am looking forward to meeting you. Thank you for your work in getting the reservations. See you next week. Hugs

Here is a topic devoted to Meeting & Talking with JSO members.
Tickets to "Meet & Greet", here in the U.S. are limited to those that are large contributors to their PBS TV station.
Hello everyone. I have just finished watching André Live in Vienna. It is beyond fabulous. Just one beautiful piece after another. All a tribute to Vienna in some way. Over 2 hrs long, there is plenty of music. I am expecting the "Wonderland" DVD tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday and can only imagine what that will be like. I need to try and come down to earth so I can get some sleep tonight and be ready for "Wonderland" Hugs.
My wife and I and another couple attended the Andre Rieu Concert in Oakland,California. The performance was just outstanding. There were approx.16,000 people in attendance.Needless the concert was sold out a long time ago. We are fans of Andre Rieu and look forward to the next concert in our area in the future
Hi, Great News!! I have just looked at the Melbourne Ticketmaster sight and it seems there is another Andre concert on sale for Friday 14th November at 8.00 pm. The sales for the Saturday night concert must be going well, as we all new they would.
Thanks to the people that post to this sight, I was able to purchase tickets on Monday morning, Section A5, Row F for the Saturday night concert. It is my mothers 80th Birthday on the 17th December and this is her present. I have even arranged accomodation at the Quest Apartments right next to Telstra Dome, so all is set for a wonderful night. It seems such a long time till November next year so we will just have to enjoy all of Andre's and the JSOs wonderful DVDs and CDs till then. Best wishes to everyone for Christmas.
Hi...I'm new to this website, but I thought you might like to hear from someone who attended the December 1st concert at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. The performance was letter perfect, musically and in all respects. We heard Susan Erens, Carmen and the three tenors, all in great form and the evening was capped by a stunning performance of the very difficult Ravel's Bolero...the most deeply classical piece I have heard the JSO perform.
Oakland is across the bay from San Francisco and Andre used this as a foil to keep saying how happy the JSO was to be in San Francisco and what a great city it was, so that the audience could shout Oakland. That led to humor throughout the evening about not being sure where they were (Oklahoma?) and so forth. All in all a wonderful concert played to a most appreciative audience.
someone should have shouted out that San francisco is across the bay from OAKLAND. Cause I know all about the Oakland/SF rivalry.
Actually, I quite surprised that Andre or someone in his organization would know how the SF useage would bounce off his Oakland audience.
How many people, would you estimate, were in the audience?
The Arena holds just under 20,000 for basketball, but the sections behind the orchestra stage were vacant...the available seats were essentially sold out and I would estimate about 16,000. The local PBS station KQED sponsored this concert as a fund-raiser and I felt that only a small percentage of the audience were San Francisco residents. None of the people seated around us were from SF. I live in Watsonville and the people seated next to me were from Pinole, for example.
I assume that in advance of each concert, the JSO's agents gather up some material about the locale for Andre to use. In this case it was easy because Oakland is looked down on as a poor relation by people in SF...note the famous quote from Gertrude Stein: "The trouble with Oakland is that when you get there, there's no there there."
I think you are right Ed. Many of us fans travel to concerts. I went to Sacramento & San Jose in 2005. I live in Fairfield, so drove from one to the other. I live in the middle.
Dear folks just wrapped up a four hour set of concerts. Andrea Bocelli, Live in Tuscany (sound familiar) the hills & field were the same as our Maestro's concert from Tuscany. Next was Dan O'Donnell, filmed at at least two venues
Both enjoyable, but not our Andre but he
is supposed to be up-coming in the next few month, so will an eye out for that concert. The photo of Andre & Carman are really lovely, wouldn't mind purchasing copies if available. Love to all Marianne
Dear folks Just a reminder of to-day's anniversary of Pearl Harbor. I remember exactly where I was that Sunday a.m. as an eight yr. old, walking down the hall
for my breakfast. The same holds true of the Kennedy assassination. Funny how such tragedies stick in our memories, Now, we are all friends, & trading partners & most of the older folk have passed, but there are still a few who remember. It was a sad time, but time heals all wounds & maybe one day all men
can be brothers. The picture of all the houses is sweet with them lighting up & the Xmas trees glowing. To Granpa Mike,
all I have is internet explorer & I can go most anyplace including both German ZDF,de and Tros.nl which gives me both the radio & t.v broadcasts. Now if I could figure out the time difference I think I could get the Andre broadcasts.
Am going to try the WDR site & see what comes up there. That's exploring, & never leaving my living-room. Love to all Marianne
Dear Marianne, I also have memories for these same things. First I was born a little over 9 months after Pearl Harbor,(If that tells you something) also the day Kennedy was assassinated I remember being in a barber shop having my hair cut on November 22. Just a little over three years ago on November 22 I was again in a barber shop having my hair cut and my mother was in the hospital with kidney failure. When I returned to see her she had died just one hour before!!
All my best
Bob Ruark
Thank you my dear Mariannne for reminding us. I know I sometimes forget unless I am reminded. Of course I was a baby then but all of us have read our history.
Bob that is something about your November 22 experience. What a shame she had to die just one hour before you got there. I remember I was working at RCA and was at a copy machine when I heard the news about President Kennedy. Hugs
Oh just a note to Al, I upgraded my Toronto tickets for Friday from A8 to A3, row 6!! That is better; I was not happy with being in the last section over on the right. Hope I will now be able to get some good photos. I must remember to take it slow and easy and let my camera focus especially when I get up front during the encores and can get some closeups (hopefully). I am getting so excited. Hugs
That's great, Jeanine Anne,
We'll be in Toronto in less than a week!
It's going to be great.
Yes Marianne, 'the day that will live in infamy"... we had family killed that day.
LISTEN UP EVERYBODY! THIS IS COLD AND SNOWY DAY IN COLORADO, BUT NICE AND WARM INSIDE, JUST GOT HOME FROM WORK, AND GUESS WHAT? HELLO YOUNG LADIES! I DID ENJOY OUR CONCERT IN SACRAMENTO, NOW ALL I DO IS JUST MISS YOU ALL, SALLY, MARILYN JOANNE, AND NATURALLY VERNICE. IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL TO GO TO THE NEXT CONCERT, MAYBE LIKE TOMORROW TO PHOENIX? WOULN'T YOU LIKE TO MEET WITH BILL? CONCERTS LIKE THESE, I COULD GO EVERY DAY, THAT IS WHY, I JUST NEVER CAN GET ENOUGH OF ANDRE'S MUSIC, AND IF YOU MEET WITH FRIENDS, LIKE I DID, THAT IS AN ICING ON THE CAKE! KATI
Hi everyone, just finished watching "Wonderland" DVD - another masterpiece from our Maestro! It is beyond beautiful. I hope all of you can see for yourself that Andre has again outdone himself. What can he possibly do to top this; I am sure he will think of something. What a "Wonderful World" Andre has created for us. Hugs
IT IS A GOOD MORNING, WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD! I AM WATCHING IT THE SECOND TIME, FINISHED YESTERDAY WITH IT AND STARTED TODAY WITH IT. JUST OUT OF THIS WORLD, THE SCENERY, THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SELECTION OF MUSIC! I DID NOT GET THE VIENNA ONE, I WAS HOPING YESTERDAY, MAYBE TODAY? I AM CERTAINLY LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCH THAT ONE TOO. ALSO BOUGHT A FEW MORE OF BOTH FOR SOME FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS. KATI
Kati,
I was going to send you some pictures but I need your email. I think I gave you mine at the restaurant we were at after the concert. I sure had fun with you and the others, it was perfect. Vernice and I are already planning a trip to Denver, we just need to know when Andre is coming back.
I am anxious to hear about Bill's night in Phoenix. It is a good concert, fun at times and yet serious. I was surprised to see Carmen and then not seeing Suzan. I think she went on to meet Pierre or whatever. The other singers were super as well. Still do not have a hankerin for Goolash? I know I probably spelled it incorrect.
Have a great weekend all of you!
Marilyn B.
PS Does Suzan have CD yet?
Hi Kati & Marilyn. I remember you each exchanged emails, so I sent you an email with both your email addys in it.
JUST THE MAILING ADDRESSES, WE WERE LIKE THE 2 HOURS DRIVE, ON A 5 MINUTES DISTANCE,WE FORGOT. ALL WE HAD TO DO IS GET THE BEAUTIFUL CARDS YOU MADE. I GOT THE ADDRESSES, SOON AFTER I CAME HOME, TO FIND OUT NO E-MAIL ADDRESSES. SO I THANK YOU SO MUCH SALLY! I DEFENATELY, WE SEE YOU ALL, HOPING IN THE NEAR FUTURE! BILL, I THINK OF YOU FOR TONIGHT, COUNTING THE HOURS FOR YOU! I DO KNOW, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! HAVE A GREAT TIME! DID YOU BUY THE CHARTREUSE COLOR OF OUTFIT, YOU MENTIONED SOMETIMES AGO? JUST KIDDING, YOU KNOW IT! KATI
YES MARILYN, WE JUST GOT THE MAILING ADDRESS, THANKS FOR SALLY, NOW I DO HAVE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS TOO. I HAD SUCH GOOD TIME, BEAUTIFUL EVENING, THAT I WILL NOT FORGET SOON. I LOVED BOTH JOANNE AND VERNICE, LIKE TO KEEP IN TOUCH. I WATCHED THE WONDERLAND LAST NIGHT, AND I DO THE SAME THIS MORNING WITH MY COFFE. KATI
Dear friends. It is getting late 10p.m.
the temp is minus 24 degrees & it is supposed to get even colder overnight.
I am glad I went out to-day to run some errands, but still have to go again to-
morrow for a bit of groc shopping. The car works well even in the cold. Plug it in as soon as it gets below zero. that is celcius so on the fahrenheit scale it is even colder. They changed this about 20 years ago & I still would rather have the old scale, with which I was more familiar. It took me ages to realize that 20 degrees celcius was like
75 degrees fahrenheit. I don't think anyone in North America was left untouched by WW 2, in many different ways. Canada at the time was still an English dominion so we were involved right from the beginning in Sept /39. Our home in Calgary was in direct line with the runway at Currie Barracks, so we never needed an alarm clock as the planes started flying at 6a.m. & flew all day long. They were B17 for the most part, but later on the planes were bigger. It is funny what you recall from
your childhood. I was only six in 1939, but I still have a very good memory for a lot of trivia. & I do scrabble & crosswords to exercise my brain as well as play on the computer. I've only had mine for three years & I poke around into all the things that interest me, which covers A to Z & everything in between. Have just about finished the history of India/Pakistan, the partition etc & what a mess it was for a time. We have two lanuages officially
but also people from many lands just as has the U.S. Inida has some 47 different lanuages, plus all the various dialects. Sounds like a nightmare to me. We have some snow, just
enough tomake the roads trecherous, but if you slow down a bit it's not too bad
Hopefully we don't get a freezing rain
anytime soon as that makes the roads really bad. At least here in Brooks they plow the roads & remove the snow.
Our bigger city two hours east don't plow anything other than the main road so if you have to go to some of the side
roads & park, you get stuck no matter what kind of tires you have. I carry a shovel with a telescoping handle, which
has done yeoman duty at times. Hope everyone is fine. Got rid of my cold, which kind of slowed me down for three days, so now I'm okay Should have started taking more vitamin C, & that usually does the trick. Love to all Marianne
IF YOU WATCH ALL THE EXTRAS ON THIS DVD, WONDERLAND, YOU SEE ANDRE REALLY MOVED HEAVEN AND EARTH! WHEN WE THINK, IT JUST CANNOT BE MORE BEAUTIFUL AND DIFFERENT FROM PREVIOUS ONES, JUST DID. THANKS ANDRE AND JSO, AND ALL THE HARD WORKING HANDS AROUND THIS PROJECT! KATI
Yes Kati, isn't that fantastic when you see what Andre and all his JSO and crew went through to get this beautiful work of art to all of us. I love how it ended too. The entire DVD was just out of this world. Will watch Vienna tonight. Glad you had such a good time at concert. Hugs
Hello everyone. Bill, have a Great concert tonight, I'm sure you will!!! Get a lot of pictures.
Kati, nice to see you back again! Sounds like you had a great time in Sacramento too.
I can't wait to get my Vienna and Wonderland dvd's, I'm waiting on the mailman right now
I have seen Wonderland 3 times already. It is beautiful! Kati

Anne Gray, Ph.D.
Happy Saturday, everyone. Just checking in. I just got back from my painting class. I now plan to curl up with with one of the new books I got this morning - a new Christmas mystery written every Christmas written by Anne Perry, one of my absolute favorites. I noticed as I was checking for a possibly new André CD (there weren't any that I didn't have) that the Barnes & Noble in Eugene has many, many André CDs. We can understand why he is so popular, no? I have received my Vienna DVD (which was everything everyone said it was and more), and am waiting for my Wonderland DVD. I received a notice a week ago yesterday that it had been shipped Priority Mail, so I expect it today or at least very soon.
Have a Great Weekend. Hugs, Marilyn S

The best of the season to you and yours, I will have both my boys, their lovely wives and all 4 grandchildren here for Christmas breakfast, How cool is that?
Grampa Mike
Almost the entire 2008 concert tour is now posted on Andre's website
It's 2330 est, 15 Dec. The concert has been over for an hour or so. I wonder if they will head for the airport tonight so they can be home just that much sooner, or if they will wait for morning before getting the heck out of Dodge.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU! KATI
Well I got 2 of my wishes: Live in Dublin and 100 years of Strauss. Unfortunately they didn't arrive in time for Christmas. I can't wait to see them
I dud have a lovely Christmas with both of my sons, their beautiful wives and all 4 grandchildren. Who could ask for more?
Grampa Mike
Mike, we are happy that you had such a nice Christmas. You are right, "what could be better" than spending it with family and friends, not to mention Andre too! You will really love the Dublin concert. It was the first one I ever saw on TV, the one that "turned me on" to Andre. Since then I've bought many more dvds & cds, but this one seems to be my favorite because it's where I first "met" Andre & the JSO. They help keep Christmas in my heart all year long, as do so many of the fans, who are the nicest bunch of people you'll ever meet.
Hi Jeanine Ann,
please do tell, how on earth did you get your Toronto tickets 'upgraded' to Row 6 ???? did you have to pay thousands of $$$ ?
To all lucky enough to be going to Toronto,, ENJOY, and take some great picts. for us who cannot be there..
Hi Adele, well I knew someone who could not go at last minute and her tickets were better so I bought hers and sold mine quickly on Ebay. Worked out great. Will try to get some photos and post them here for all who cannot go. Take care. Hugs to you
{{forward to: André}}
Dear Andre:
We hope you enjoyed the Golden Violin Poinsettia Christmas Plant. Daniel said that he would give it to you personally. My dear 92 year old mom and I loved the concert. You have a great God-given talent and we have loved your beautiful music, orchestra and great singers ever since we heard your first KPBS broadcast. In fact, I have all of your concerts on DVD and show them quite often to my friends in our private Viennese-like 50 seat Melody Theater.
It may interest you to know, I first started my singing career in 1965, in San Diego singing with an unknown tenor named Placido Domingo in a production of Tosca.
I have appeared in over 30 Operas since and have stared in many musicals such as The Student Prince, Carousel, King and I, the Desert Song, and the Vagabond King for the Starlight and Glendale Opera Companys.
As a well-trained Lyric-Spinto Tenor, my real love has been singing Viennese Operetta and I have sung in both Wien and Germany.
In one of my professional concerts in Los Angeles while singing the lead tenor in "A Salute to Rudolf Friml", my conductor David Forester said I reminded him of the late Tenor Mario Lanza, who he had personally worked with in Winged Victory in New York. I considered that compliment as quite an honor.
As you can see, I love beautiful music and great talent like yourself and your very gifted orchestra and company.
Having helped my dear deceased father, J. Howard Stein who was the General Manager and Producer of the San Diego Civic Light Opera Association (Starlight)and produced over 50 Broadway-like successfully artistic Shows for Starlight,I can appreciate what it takes to coordinate and produce a successfully artistist company such as yours.
I told your business manager about how my father invented a very unique Stop- Action Freeze System which froze the positions of the actors until the uncoming low flying airplanes flew by.
Not even the actors new when to freeze until they saw the red, yellow and green lights backstage. The 5500 plus a night audiences in Balboa Park loved the spontanious and sometimes humorous freezes as you can imagine.
Since I live in the area and graduated from San Diego State I came over to the KPBS studios to try to meet you and invite you to a personal showing of Die Graf Von Luxembourg in our private Melody Theater which my father built.
While waiting outside, I spoke to your manager, and he said you were running way behind schedule. I told him to say hello and left you a personal San Diego Chargers football hat. I hope you enjoy it and I hope to meet you sometime. Perhaps next year?
We would like to extend an open invitation to you and members of your company to enjoy a private showing at our very unique Melody Theater next time you visit San Diego.
Until then,
Best Wishes for Continued Success
and we want to wish all of you a very
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Very Truly Yours,
Jim and Barabra

ANY ONE OF YOU, WHO ORDERED THE VIENNA DVD ALSO, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! JUST BEAUTIFUL! JUST LIKE THE SCHONBRUNN ONE, YOU WILL ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF IT. I AM GLAD I DID. GOT IT TODAY, SO ON A COLD SNOWY DAY, STAYING INSIDE, GAVE ME THE MOST WONDERFUL CONCERT!THANKS ANDRE AND JSO! KATI
Kati, I just saw the Vienna DVD today. The only way to describe it is;
A feast for the eyes
A delight for the ears
A Joy for the Heart
Carmen solo gave me goose bumps!! I have played it over and over again and still goose bumps. Fantastic!!!!
Bob Ruark
hey all,
des anyone know if andre rieu will be coming to the USA with his stadium tour???? i really want to go to it!!!
thanks
jeff rubino
Jeff, I've not read or heard anything about such a tour, but I'll bet when the Toronto concerts are over the decore will go into storage either in Canada or in the USA. Andre has said that he'll be bringing three sets to Australia. Now that they've built at least one set, it makes sense to have it ready to go rather than ship it back and forth across the Atlantic. They probably are already constructing the sets for the European portion of the tour.
Jeff, I have not heard anything yet, but you can bet I will be looking forward to it too. Lets hope!
Your friend
Bob Ruark
Everyone please pray. We are scheduled for a snow storm on Thursday. Actually we are scheduled for several small ones but there is a big one expected to hit on Thursday. I do wish Andre would do these big ones in the summer. Hopefully I'll make it.
Hi Virginia, I will pray that the storm does not make it. Do you know where it is coming from? We will be driving up from central Pa. up throught New York State to the west on Wed. and Thursday. Will be in Toronto area Thursday night. Sure hope you make it. Are you flying or driving? Maybe you can leave earlier if you are driving. Take care. Hugs to you and all
UNFORTUNATELY THE STORM IS HERE AND MOVING TOWARD NORTH, IF ANYONE GOES TO TORONTO, YES TRY TO LEAVE EARLIER,BECAUSE IT MIGHT BE COLD AND SNOWY OUTSIDE, BUT IT WILL BE NICE AND WARM AND COZY INSIDE! KATI
Kati: Please be careful in your storm. And save the largest Snow Ball for Bill !
I GOT MY SHARE ALREADY, NOW IT IS SHIRLEY'S TURN AND GOING UPWARD TO TORONTO. MORE COMING THE NEXT FEW DAYS. COLORADO WILL NOT CLIMB OUT OF THE 30S ALL NEXT WEEK. COLLECTING A TON OF SNOW FOR BILL! KATI
BRISBANE , AUSTRALIA pre-concert details here , thanks to William in AUSTRALIA
I to go to D.C. so I combined the two. If I get to D.C. am supposed to fly out of there on Thursday. Otherwise I would have driven to Boston and flown from there. You can't get much of anywhere directly from Portland, ME. By the way, Bill and others my cell is {{redacted - sent via private email by webmaster}}. I carry it for emergencies and never have it on but I will check it periodically.
Virginia, I am thinking of you and willing the storm to go away!
Hi all, just a quik note while I take a chance to let my anti-virus & spysweeper update then I'll go offline again. We have ice all over the place, losing tree limbs all around our house. So far power is still on, but we have more to come.Bettergo now...later all.
Shirley, we are thinking of you and hope the storm passes quickly.
Someone asked about traditions.
My family has one that started (I think) with my maternal grandmother and now my older grandchildren are into.
We write poems for each present. The worse the poem, the better, Puns, misspellings, you name it.
Leads to much laughter on Christmas morning and a very late Christmas eve composing.

I have the DVD "Andre Rieu - Christmas around the World". (Weihnachten rund um die Welt). I believe it was recorded in 2005. Could you please tell the location of that live concert.
Regards, Peter (Perth)
Hi Peter. There is an insert in my DVD that says it is was recorded at Trier, Germany. and I think he is speaking German also. Hope this helps.
Is Andre coming to Perth in Western Australia? If so, when?
Thanks
Derek
Please add me to your mailing list. Can't wait for the Australian tour

ANDR É RIEU
BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE ! ! !
This story 30 minutes after the show while it is fresh in my mind!
What a deal, what a show, what a showman, what an orchestra, what orchestration, what production, everything I ever wanted in show and more.
Rieu really lucky and of course multi talented, he gets to hear this orchestra and music every night. Rieu famous at 58 for his PBS funraiser concerts and multi extravaganzas all over the world brought it all to the spectacular Orleans Arena for one night only.
My personal theme, "so many symphonys to be heard so little time".... well tonight I heard the best of them all.
Obviously something of this magnitude would start on time...it did...77 minutes exactly a 15 minute intermissison and then 83 minutes in the second half, mulit encores and standing ovations.
With an empty stage Rieu and the orchestra entered thru the aisles onto the stage ....ladies in gorgeous colored gowns and the men in tuxes....playing 76 trombones.
It is called the Johan Strauss orchestra with that music and much much more to include 3 tenors 3 opera sopranos, Bolero, The Phantom of the Opera, Amazing Grace, America, classical themes and much much more. To the Blue Danube, couples danced, ladies danced, men danced , mothers danced with their children and one 70ish old man danced alone.....he was joined by a yound female stranger who gave hime a kiss at the end of their encounter.....it was lovely to see so much positive interaction.
This "thing" brought its own production to include videos on four screens, cameras on everybody, Christmas trees, baloons, snow flakes for White Christmas, boiling goulash, wine, roses and an orchestra that could land F15's on an aircraftcarrier or cure cancer...or do anything else they wanted. The orchestra was so good (with Rieu playing the violin, doing play by play and making jokes ) he hand little time to conduct! The audio flawless, never too loud, lighting and continuity perfect, the great Orleans Arena did not hurt any of this, 5000 of us lucky souls got to feel the experience. In the big picture somebody had to conceive the idea, the music the arrangements and produce the staff, just genius that's all!
A visul and audio masterpiece as good as anything I have ever seen....this includes you Sammy!
Thanks to George Chogyoji for sending this to us.
Thank you George for a vivid discription
of what you experienced at this Orleans
Arena Concert. You truly had to be in a
state of bliss. This may sound lame, but was this the event held in Phoenix?
Once again, I grow more eager for my concert opportunity, and to be able to experience André's music at a totally whole being there experience.
Hi Judith, that article was not written by George but sent to us from him. It appeared in "Vegas Entertainment". That is the kind of review I love to see, the accolades that Andre and the JSO deserve. It was posted by Ed Bruce on a blogspot at www.lventertainment.blogspot.com/ You can go and leave a comment under his post. Hugs
What makes this report so special is that citizens of Las Vegas get the best entertainers in the world on a daily basis. To have him say it was the best he's ever seen in his life is quite a statement.
And folks the World Stadium Tour is going to be even better!
Hi, just noticed the comments on Andre's glasses from a week ago. Figured I'd answer here because I don't always check back to everything and maybe some of you don't either. Years ago the first time I saw Andre in glasses they were tortoise shell, (and he had on plaid shorts too! at a rehearsal) then frameless, now back to tortoise shell. He said that he can't get the contacts into his eyes and that he needs glasses for both near AND far. Remember in one soap neither he nor Teun had on glasses and couldn't read the sign on one of the containers? The frameless ones are not that noticeable if he decides to wear them on stage. I don't think we care what kind he wears as long as he keeps giving concerts.
hey every one do u remember the man who had the violin signed by andre rieu and was going to put it in a case for his father???? well he is selling pictures of it with a cd on ebay. Or some one took the ecact picture of his violin and put it on ebay!!! heres the link!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ANDRE-RIEU-PRINT-SIGNED-FRAMED-LTD-ED-CD-PHOTO_W0QQitemZ290189687471QQihZ019QQcategoryZ81744QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
look at it anf tell me what u think! thats not right!
-jeff rubino
Looks familiar, you have a good eye, Jeff. Is this legal??
Marilyn
I don't know if it is illegal but it is not ethical. I don't even know if it is the same guy. I know the name is different but that is the same autograph because I studied it for days to see if it was actually Andre's signature and I was convinced that it was. I guess the CD is a copy of the signature so you can make a bigger copy, I just don't know. You are right Jeff, it is not right.
ITs the same listing but that must be the same guy it sthe same autograph violin and case!! i am a violinist and they could never mach the same varnish that good on 2 diffrent violin!! there is somethign deffinatly wrong with this, Andre should not be taken for a ride and people selling things that he sighned personally for them they have no right to sell that some one took that picture from some where! this is not good, i bet it was the guy who had the violin signed be andre how else would they make that plus i have no clue what the cd is of??? well i hope someone can do something@!
a worried andre rieu fan- jeff
I don't think it was the person who originally had the violin signed because I happen to know it was a woman who sold it to this Gary. It could be that someone downloaded the photo from the internet, case and all because it was a very good photo and had copies made and framed. What the CD is I don't know. What can be done though?
I have seen Andre's autograph for sale on Ebay before and I don't think it is ethical to do this. People are making money on Andre's signature and is just not right.
I made a comment about this ages ago when the violin first went on sale and got shot down in flames and the topic was dropped. I dont think it is right at all, glad someone agrees. This latest one (the picture frame) is a bit sus, the person says its a print, but why would you call it a limited edition and there are going to be 500 copies available.????? Why would you buy a copy of his autograph? You can get the real thing in the Boutique
I also did e-mail this person who is running this auction to try to get more information on it. I have not heard back as of yet but let you know when I do. It does not look right to me at all. Not sure if it is legal but morally it is wrong to try to make money from something or someone who was gracious enough to sign something for you and then turn around and sell it. If it were mine I would cherish that autograph forever and would never sell it or try to make money off of it. We do not need people like this on e-bay either. I think most try to keep e-bay a safe haven for purchases and sales for us. Take care and see ya later. Aud
hi,
ok i just snet thm a message asking them very nicely and not suspecting anything about the prduct i will tell u guys right after i hear from them ok.
have a good night!
jeff
Thanks Jeff, will be anxious to hear what they say. Talk to you tomorrow. Hugs
I have watched Andre Rieu on PBS for many years. My dream came true on December 7, 2007, in Las Vegas, Nv, when I got to see him in person. What a marvelous show it was. If he every comes back I won't hesitate to go see him and his orchestra again. He is such a fantastic musician and you can tell that he enjoys every minute he is performing. His orchestra is wonderful.
dear friends I just can't think that anyone would download a framed picture of our Maestro & then sell it on the internet. Theses items are posted for the fans enjoyment & not as a means for someone to profit from selling them. I note also that the piocture of Carman has disappeared from the site. It was a really nice photo of her in costume, when she was singing o mio babbino & holding Andre's hand. If you want a photo portrait of Andre it is available through the boutique & is a very nice picture. I note that there seems to be no calendar available, so I will recycle my old 2007, with months from a 2008 calendar, which has some nice photos of Alberta, but I also have a B.C magazine calendar which is really nice. I like to see Andre when I'm doing work at my table, whether it is accting or letter writing & usually have the music going as well. Hope everyone is ready for the Holiday Season
I'll be ready for 2007 next year Ha Ha!
Love to all Marianne
Well, today is the day!1 Hooray. We've only got a couple of inches of snow on the ground. Expecting more but none o far.
I'll let you all know how the concert went. I'm sure it will be great.
Gramps Mike
Here is a nice newspaper article about the concert in Tucson, Arizona on 9 Dec 2007
You are right Bill, that's a nice article! I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for putting it up!
Thank You Mr Bill-AZ for sharing this great write up on Mr REE-YOU, I got goose bumps reading these beautiful words which are so very true of our André and the JSO. I even see Buffalo,NY made print (home-town), you may have got the paper snow, but they are predicting a Winter storm with a possible scattering of 12 inches of the real stuff through 7PM Thursday - I'm on my way to dig out the shovel. Thanks again for sharing Bill - can't wait till your photo's make "news". Hugs and snowflakes to all. Judy from Buffalo87395
Hi Bill,
Yes this is an awesome article, really gets across what a great atmosphere there is when Andre and the JSO are in town. I love to read these great articles.

ADELAIDE> AAMI STADIUM 18th NOVEMBER ??????? Is this correct???
Presale starts tomorrow Friday at 9am with Ticketek. Check their website See what I wrote under the section "Andre Rieu in Australia ticket sales are starting"
Good luck!!!!!
Good Morning all. I was one of those who got 2 Vienna DVDs that had a problem during the first piece where the motion and the music stopped momentarily for a few seconds. I notified André's Helpdesk to notify them of the problem. I heard from them this morning. They said they had gotten other complaints and would be sending corrected DVDs to correct the problem ones. And we don't even have to return the ones with the problem. Now that is what I call GREAT SERVICE. Have a good day everyone.
Mine does the same, i have not written to helpdesk yet, i want to check it again, it not just stopped, but turned off alltogether. I have to see it again. Unfortunately this is the one i wanted to give as a gift, made sure it is NTSC not PAL. Minde plays both, but i am not sure about my friends. Kati
I wish everyone who's going to the concerts in Canada a great time and a safe trip!!
DJ BOB
Thank you Bob, I am getting ready to leave now. I hope the weather holds for everyone. I heard something about a nor'easter for our area over the weekend but that should stay closer to the coastal areas but you never know. I am worried about the people in Maine and those areas.
Bye, bye all. I will miss you. I will be in good company though
Will throw Andre a kiss from all of you right after I throw mine. Take care. Hugs to all
I know that you will have already left for Toronto Jeanine Ann, but I still wanted to wish you a safe and happy trip! I know you will enjoy the concert, just hope the drive up there is safe for you. Will be thinking of you! Thanks for throwing André a kiss!

Hello all my lovely friends ... sorry but it's been an age since I've been on here ... I've been a wee bit busy with my sister. Her husband has just gone into a permanent facility and she is not taking this at all well... she is very teary and I have been holding her hand for the past week. So tonight I am home and this is the first time I have been on.
My I seem to have missed out on such a lot .... to all of you travelling to Toronto for Andre's Concert, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, and all please travel safely ... longing to hear all the news and view all the lovely pics of this wonderful event.
Did you see on Andre's website that the dates for Melbourne, Sydney and more concert dates for Adelaide and Brisbane to follow .....NO MENTION OF PERTH..
Well ... I must away, I have so much to do before bedtime and it's already 7.45 pm ... hugs to you all xxxxx Les
Hi everyone: Just wanted to let you know I just talked to Jeanine Ann and they are just to Buffalo on their way to Toronto. In heavy snow but doing good. She is really excited about the weekend. Will keep you up to date. Take care and love and hugs to all.
Aud
That's good news. I'll bet they're excited. I've set three alarms for 3:15 am Friday as my flight leaves at 6:30 am. It's a four hour flight from Edmonton to Toronto.
I'm looking forward to meeting other fans and to what will be two spectacular concerts.
Dear Andre, the JSO, Crew, choir tenors sopranos Sure hope the weather smiles on your travels. Took a look at the weather network & both roads & flights are somewhat compromised. If you go east
on 40 before you turn north you should avoid the worst of the weather, but I hape you are warmly dressed as Toronto is to be minus 13 to-morrow night. Brr!
This time of year the weather can be very iffy, so will be doing special prayers for your safe trips. After the 15th, you can all fly home to Holland for well earned break & a very joyous
Holiday Season, Love Marianne
If anyone talks to any JSO member during the Toronto concert, please ask for their birthday (month & day only)
I just flew over your comments a little, the one about the autograph caught my eye. I have a few from André but only 2 that are personally given to me are really counting the ones on the CDs he signed I do not really care for. I also gave one away on a book that I got from PBS as a gift. I know a girl from Germany she stands in line for autographs after each concert , I asked her what she is doing with all those signatures, she said she sells them to André fans. Boy , I would never buy an autograph, that means absolutely nothing to me, but she makes money with it she said it helps to finance her concerts, haaaaaaa! Well, if people are so stupid and pay for it, why not????? I would never do it.
Good Point Inge. A couple of my favorite signed items are a sign made by Barb Henderson. As a group we waived 'dancing notes' and a sign saying "Your Notes Make Us Happy" during a concert in Dallas 2005, and a booklet made by Lawrence Sudduth with Andre and all of the then Johann Strauss Orchestra members. Andre saw the notes during the concert, and said, "Ah, yes, Fun", and signed my note. He then saw the booklet, even turning every page to look at it. He liked it and signed it, as did many of the JSO.
Yes Sally, that are nice souvenirs, but a bought one, no, his signature is on every jacket of the CDs in print and on his cup, haaaaaa. looks the same to me as in an autograph, the personal connection is what counts.
Hi there Can you please tell me how to put the accent on the e in Andre. I can't find where it was posted on the blog. Thanks
I would be interested also if someone knows the real pronunciation. Here in Australia, On Ovation Channel here we have an Add that Andre does himself and he introduces himself as Andre Reee-air, however the channel announcers call him Andre Ree-oooo. I have heard interviews with Andre and three different interviewers who have ask him are they pronouncing his name correctly, all three using different pronunciation, Andre answering "yeah, you got it". So I don't think he cares to much.
By the way, the series on Ovation, (Australia) at the moment, "At Home with Andre Rieu" is absolutely fabulous. What a beautiful garden he has, what a pleasant person he is to interview. The history of his home is fascinating.
Go here for instructions on adding accent marks, umlats, & the german symbol ß
Someone, somewhere told me the correct pronounciation of Andr é's last name is pronounced Ree - er. I'm not positive about this. Perhaps someone else has something more definitive.
And would you believe there are alternative websites that mis spell Andr é's name. They never include the accent mark.
Bill, it depends on the country. Speaking in French, one would say the name differently than if they spoke German or English. That was asked and answered during an interview in Australia. André was as always, kind.
What I have noticed is that André never makes fun of, or insults anyone's pronunciation of his name. (I have seen him laugh about some of our attempts, and we laugh right along with him.) André is always gracious to others.
I think the same of the spelling. In English we do not use the é, yet we pronounce the name the same.
I think you've got it right on the button. I too have heard Andre's name pronounced a number of ways and he says, tres bon to them all. I think as long as it is respectful and the person tries, Andre doesn't seem to mind.
At Home With Andre Rieu... wow. I wonder if that is like our "Welcome To My World". Or is it the DVD with the Limelight magazine? Something new? Gosh, we want it all!!!
Sally, they billed it as a "World Premiere" and it is made by the Ovation Channel themselves. They travelled to Maastricht with one of the channel presenters - Leo Schofield - an Arts presenter in his "sixties" and a very knowledgable man. Leo is a very keen gardener, and when you see Andre and him in the garden, they are like a pair of kids with new toys. We have only had the first 2 episodes of 6 so far, the remaining coming this week. So I think it is a local thing, but maybe Ovation will release it elsewhere in the future.
THIS CONCET IN TORONTO, PROVED US SOMETHING. SOMETHING THAT ANDR É IS TALKING ABOUT OFTEN, THE SKIES, THE MOON, HE WOULD LIKE TO PLAY WITH HIS ORCHESTRA UP THERE. RIGHT NOW, LOOKS LIKE THE SKY IS THE LIMIT FOR HIM AND COMPANY. WHAT A MAGNIFICENT JOB THEY DID IN TORONTO? I AM SORRY I DID NOT GO, I HAVE BEEN THERE ON MY VERY FIRST CONCERT IN 04. KATI
The name Rieu is french and rhymes with "lieu" as "in lieu of" (PRONOUNCED in French), or "Dieu". This particular sound does not exist in English but one would learn it when studying the french language. This sound also is used in the Dutch language. Hope this will help. Grace (born in The Netherlands)
Thank you Grace. This is an excellent guide to saying André's name!
Hello fans & friends, after 5 days without power I'm back!!!!! Ice storm knocked so many people out. All I was wishing for Christmas was light and heat! I know now that Santa wears a hard hat and he is from Tennessee! He hooked us back up today. i'll have so much to catch up on but I'll get to it asap. love to all.
Hi Shirley. Glad you are back. A few years ago I was without power for a few days with the temperatures in the 30s at night, so I can just imagine what you went through for 5 days. And you didn't have heat? (I didn't either). Brrr.
It's so nice to see you back Shirley! I've been thinking about you and wondering how you are doing. I knew you must have been in that ice mess. How did you stay warm?? Brrrr!

Thank you so much for the beautiful photos of the Czech Republic. My daughter spent a summer backpacking around Europe while a college student and Cesky Krumlov was her favorite spot in all of Europe. When my brother visited Europe, she told him about that beautiful city and he and his wife also said how much they enjoyed being there. Someday, I hope to visit your beautiful country as well.
I just ordered André’s new Vienna DVD, via priority mail.
Hi Bill, i have 2 of them, unfortunately both are bad, cannot enjoy it. They are very nice about it, will send 2 new ones. I think, they are lovely people, they do not question your integrity! So, i do have to wait for those. Kati
Hi Kay, is that CA as in California or CA as in Canada?
(which for some reason reminds me of Filoli on Ca-nah-dah spelled Canada Road.)
My youngest daughter backpacked in Europe the summer of her high school graduation. I thought I would never get her to come home. She loved it there. But after 6 weeks she reappeared! Then it was off to Cal Poly. I know she wants to go back. Adding the Czech Republic to her tour would be nice.Hi Sally. The CA is California. I live in the Central Valley and my daughter who backpacked around Europe was a student at Cal Poly in SLO at the time. Small world! Is the Filoli you mentioned the mansion and gardens in the Bay Area? We've visited there and it is quite beautiful. I'll bet Andre would love it!
Oh, thank you so much Terezie, this is a most beautiful country. I'm especially intrigued by Prague! Outstanding! Then the town of Telc, the square. I love all the gardens, exquisite! very formal, very beautiful. I'm going to buy more lottery tickets!
Shirley, I didn't know you got all the ice too. We had a terrible ice storm here too but fortunately I was in Toronto when it happened. We were without power for 42 hours but the freezer held. Fridge stuff was gone but that is all. My sweet sister and her husband set the fireplace (gas) to run every half hour so it kept it around 68 which was ok for the kitties. The power came on the night before we arrived home. We had lots of trees pulled out at the roots because the ice was so heavy and these were large trees. As we crossed from N.Y. to Pa. we could see the ice starting. The city of Lancaster which is just 13 miles to the south of us had nothing but rain and wind. It started icing at the Pa. Turnpike which is about a mile to our south and went all the way up through Pa. (that is to the western part of the state). Hope all is well with you now Shirley. Hugs to all
I finally had a chance to sit and read all (or most) of the different stories and comments about Toronto.
, Thanks for listening.
It's amazing what went into putting this show together. I'm so impressed!
Pierre must be quite an incredible person in producing (correct term?) this massive show. I'm sure that André and Marjorie must be very proud of him. As we all are.
André seems to take on the "impossible"...he keeps on surprising us with special shows and special music and productions, special specials...isn't he an incredible, unique, intriguing and interesting person? And, of course, his whole family seems to be the same way.
I'm so happy they are on planet Earth...they do make life exciting and pleasant.
Just talking
H i Bill. I didn't have much luck in your umlaut, etc. instructions. Word is not my favorite place - I always get frustrated there anyway. What I was wondering was wasn't it you who some months back told us about the website of Special Characters and told us how to use this website. I'm a whiz at making an "e" with an accent
I am with you Marilyn, those instructions are difficult.
I think Julie Spengler had the best tip on it . . .
Hold down the “alt” key. While holding that key down type in this order .. 0,2,3,3 , then release now you have an ‘é’
alt, 0,2,2,3 = ß
So play around that way and you will find all sorts of accent marks. J
Yes, thanks Sally, that is how I do the accented é, but hadn't figured out the
ß. Thanks for that. I have forgotted how to do the accented "a", so will have to figure it out. I seem to remember you can figure stuff out by going to the Spec. Characters website, but I need to be refreshed on how to do that. I am off today and tomorrow.I plan to walk with my pups(if it stops raining, that is) and finishing up with Christmas. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
Just to clarify the simple way to find ANY character you want:
Go to START, then ALL PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then SYSTEM TOOLS and finally CHARACTER MAP. Click on the character you want, click SELECT and see the number in the lower right corner. With curser where you want the character, hold down Alt key while typing in the number. You have to use the numbers on the right side of the keyboard, not those across the top. Release and the character should be in place.
To add an accent mark above any letter you need to press the < ctrl > key, not the < alt > key.
Press < ctrl > key & hold it down
Press < ' > key & hold it down
Release both keys
press < e > key, viola, an accent mark now appears above the < e >, or whatever letter key you want.
go here for instructions on adding umlats < ö
For all of these instructions to work you must follow the instructions in Word, then copy & paste the text in your work document into your reply on this blog.
Go here , for directions on all of the above symbols.
We were at Andre's Night in Vienna Concert in july 2007. We have never heard of him before this and could have never dreamed of a better evening in Austria. We want to know when the dvd will be available?
regards
The Vienna DVD can be purchased now from the Boutique in Andre's website. Many people have it already. If you use their priority mail, you will have it in a few days. Hope this helps.
Hi Rodney. That DVD is available now on André's website. It is a wonderful concert. I and other have noticed that there is a momentary glitch in the first piece - just a few seconds but particularly noticeable. André's Helpdesk has been notified and has responded that they will be sending out corrected replacements (and we don't have to return the ones with the problem). However, the rest of the DVD is fine and is absolutely terrific.
Dear Friends. Thanks Terezie for the pics of Czech countryside. I didn't know there was so much color. Can't read the write-up, but the pics tell their own story. When Don(late husband & I went to Hawaii in 1974, I was struck
by the drab coloring of the buildings
except for the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, which is like pink cake icing!! Thanks to all who sent the reports & pics of the Toronto Stadium tour. It's the next best thing when you are too far away to attend. From the clips from Andre I think that there may be some performances on the west coast, but that could be in 2010 or later. Hope they choose Calgary as that I can do as
long as I am able to drive back & forth
Went to our church dinner last evening. It was a great feast, & enjoyed by all the attendees. Ate my fill, but not stuffed, even had room for dessert, so to-day it's back on short rations as I have to fight the weight gain, & there is so much food to nibble etc. Will go to my daughter's for Xmas dinner & watch the kids with their gifts. Andy is 11 yrs, so he's still has the excitement of a normal boy. They've had their tree up since Dec lst, & already
the gifts are piling up under the tree.
Son-in-law Bear is buying Kathy a new laundry pair as she has worn out the old set & the dryer has completely quit
A family of four creates quite a heap of laundry, & she washes no less than every second day. She keeps a very nice
house & she can cook very well too. When
she was 12, she wanted to learn, so I let her loose in the kitchen, & she made dinner for the family. She did it all herself, & I was so pleased with her effort. By the time she was 16, she had taken over the house, which was fine with me as I had gone back to work
in Don's company as secretary/accountant
More to my liking as even to-day I do as little housework as I can get away with. Would rather do books, read, or play on the computer!! I get my nose in a good story & have to read until it's done, so of course nothing else gets done. There's only me so if I can tolerate the untidiness, it really doesn't bother anyone else. Have a young friend who will come next weekend & do what needs doing. He helps his Grandma, so I asked him if he would give me a hand & he said he would. I'm
such a pack-rat & save lots of stuff too
much, so will go through things, Clear out the clothes and pass them on to other people through the Salvation Army
I've got at least three of everything so it is time to lighten up. Hope everyone has a very Happy, Safe Holiday
& those who travel, safe journey, Love
Marianne
Andre, we saw you in Toronto on Friday night and were wowed by you and your orchestra. I really enjoyed Silent Night. Thank you for a wonderful concert. By the way, the set was done so beautifully. Have a Merry Christmas!
I think I was the lucky one. As nothing has been posted by any of the fans I spent time with. in Toronto, I think they probably did not get out of Toronto on time. I flew up in a snowstorm and went to the Friday night concert, (I was going to only the one). I left the hotel at 1 p.m. and was lucky to get a 3 o'clock flight to Philadelphia and it was snowing heavily when the plane left. Had to hang around Philadelphia until 9, and was afraid the 9 o'clock would not take off because of the storm in Maine. But we took off and landed only 1/2 hour late. I hope Andre will take this into consideration if he does another extravaganza in Toronto. People travel so far to see him and it costs a lot of money if you have to stay longer especially for the people who go to numerous concerts a year. I thought at the time the concerts were announced that December is awfully "iffy." If you've looked at the sites you know that there were serious problems before the Friday concert. I don't know how many people made it to the Saturday concert. Hope some of you are back home by now. My next concert is not until Bridgeport. Hope every is safe.
hey bill AZ,
how did u order andre rieu live in vienna? from the botique? they are only offering it in pal i got mine a weeka ago ntsc put they were all broken. hope u did not order a ntsc one because they email me and told me that ever single one was difectave. Just looking out.
sincerly jeff rubino
Hi Jeff, I ordered NTSC but with my trip I did not have a chance to watch it. What are they going to do about the defective CD. Hugs
Hi Jeff. Those of us who have the Vienna DVD (NTSC) ordered and received got them before the problem was discovered. It is a 2-3 second break in the music in the first piece. I and others notified the Helpdesk of the problem, and we will get eventually get replacement DVDs. It sounds like they have temporarily stopped taking orders until they get a corrected DVD. It's an absolutely wonderful DVD, so I hope it doesn't take them too long and keep everyone waiting. Except for a few seconds on the first piece "Weiner Burger", the DVD is perfect. Hope this helps.
I just noticed that André's website has stopped offering the Vienna NTSC DVD for sale.
MAYBE WE WILL GET THE CORRECTED ONES FIRST? KATI
I think I have a stubborn computer. I've tried all those "ctrl" holds, and it's just not working. The way I do the accents is I click the "start" button and in the legend that comes up there, is "character map", I click on that and it opens another "screen" which has all these various letters, numbers, characters...everything one could think of...I click on whatever I wish to use, then I "select", then I copy and paste it to whatever I'm writing. It's very easy for me. There are 1600 characters in this window to use. They even have hearts and music
♫♪♥♫♫♥♪♫♪♫♥ I could even smile and see some sunshine and play cards! ☺ ☼ ♣♠♥♦.
Hi Marlene. Your method works like a charm and it SO EASY. Thank you so much.
I just had the most wonderful night here at Rogers center Toronto.
Thank you André! Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!
I love Andre Rieu"s music and I hope he comes to Australia soon

I am truly sorry that my Mother did not live to enjoy the JSO. She was a music major in college (voice and piano), loved good music and passed that on to me and my brother.
Besame Mucho was one of her favorites and she would have loved Laura's performance,
I hope to pass some of that love of good music on to my grandchildren. Too late for my sons.

Hi everyone - I am back!!!! WOW - that is all I can say for now. Just got in a few hours ago and we are really tired but a happy tired. I have so much to tell you. Concert report and photos to follow. All I can say is Andre is one gorgeous man and his show was out of this world. Anxious moments but all went well. Need a day to recuperate. Hugs
I am glad to hear from you. It's only now that people are starting to write in so that we know they made it home. I am so happy to be able to visualize who it is when I see comments in the guest book. We have to campaign to have Andre here in the summer. He can travel in Europe in the winter where they don't have as far to go and people don't have as far to go to get home. More soon.
The SNOW finally let you go home? I think everyone just tried to keep Andre there. (maybe he learned about a concert in Toronto in WINTER???)
Hope you are resting up from your trip.
Nice to see you back Jeanine Ann. Have been thinking about your travels, and sending you good thoughts. Can't wait to hear about Toronto!
Jeanine, I'm glad to see you back. It must have been a struggle based on all of the stories I've been hearing about the weather, but definitely worth it.
I can hardly wait to hear how it was.
Oh the weather was terrible but I was so happy being snowed in with Andre!! Just a little peek into my story - I was so close to him in the lounge that I could smell his cologne but unfortunately I was not breathing at the time!!! Talk about Heaven, I thought I got there early! Hugs
It appears that everyone got home finally. I was getting worried when I didn't see any postings from people I had met. Of course I left on Saturday and did make it out with no problem. But, I sort of wish I had stayed!!!
Thank you Virginia for all you did for the Friday dinner. It was a real pleasure meeting you. I really did meet some wonderful people at this concert
I enjoyed meeting you finally after writing back and forth. I hope we catch up with each other again someplace in the not too distant future. My next one is Bridgeport. After that I don't know and won't know for awhile. Two nieces are supposedly getting married this summer but neither has a final plan yet. My laundry is still in the hamper. Have to get moving. Took a slip and have a couple of cracked ribs so have the perfect excuse not to do too much decorating and baking for the holidays. No longer excruciating except when I try to get up from bed. Other than that can manage. My family comes to me Christmas Eve and I go to my sister's Christmas Day.
Hi Virginia, So sorry about your cracked ribs. When did that happen? I heard it is very painful. Hope you heal soon. Just keep thinking of that beautiful concert you just saw. I hope too we will meet again. I am going to Reading, Pa. in May and Jacksonville and Miami, Fl in April. Take care. Hugs
GUESS WHO??
I'm going to take a wild guess & say the person is a girl.
If it's a girl I would say it's his two older sisters. The hair looks too light for Andre.
BILL, YOU NEED GLASSES!! BOTH OF THEM ARE GIRLS!! JUST HAVE NOT A CLUE? KATI
Hi Kati, isn't the smallest a boy? I didn't think girls wore slacks in those days.
Sally, how about a clue!
YES THEY DID, THAT IS ALL THEY HAD! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THOSE DAYS? WHAT DO YOU THINK, HOW OLD THESE PICTURES ARE? BLACK AND WHITE, POSSIBLE NO COLOR PICTURES YET. MAYBE 58 OR 59? KATI
Late 40's, early 50's maybe, probably 50's. The girls wore dresses, yes? Hugs
puleeezzzz, Kati! I've worn glasses since I was 13 years old. Here I am, 62 years old now, & am getting along without glases for 30 days......& now Kati is wishing glasses upon me....bah! humbug!... to glasses!
The little fella has to be Andre - with a sister perhaps ???
Isn't this photo cute? Look at the Family Resemblance. Too cute!
I love this photo but have no idea who it might be. Looks like some of the girlfriends I had in grade school. Please hurry and identify please!
I wish Sally would tell us who these two are. I am dying to know! But anyway I just got back from shopping, shopping and shopping. No gifts wrapped, laundry a mile high, house not cleaned and I could go on. Didn't even get a chance to read Bill's concert report which I am sure is excellent. But I am so happy after seeing Andre and just experiencing the entire atmosphere around him and just watching him as he played, conducted, smiled, drank champange, talked to us, and everything he did. And we danced twice!!!!!!! Guess I had better do my report. I have so much to tell you and I better write it down before I get brain freeze. Take care everyone. I am writing this while I have my dinner. Hugs
Martha - my love to you and I will email you soon.
I WAS WAITING TO THE SHOW FROM TORONTO, BE TELEVISED, JUST LIKE ANOTHER SHOW! MAYBE A NEW DVD? WHO KNOWS? THE PICTURE? COULD BE ANY ONE! I THINK, AFTER THOSE BLACK AND WHITES, EVERYBODY IS JUST GETTING PRETTIER IN COLOR! WOULN'T AGREE? KATI
These two are sisters. We know one of them.
Hi everyone. Is she the big girl or the smaller one? Both are very cute.
I suspected this might be Kati & her younger sister. Kati, you haven't changed all that much and I think your sister resembles Sally. How old were you two back then?
SALLY, IT IS LOOK LIKE EVERYBODY GOT A CHRISTMAS PRESENT!? KATI
Yuppers. Now they wonder “WHICH” one is you.
*I think you still look the same. J
WE NEVER BEEN THE SAME IN HEIGHT, BUT VERY MUCH LOOK ALIKE. EVEN MY YOUNGER SISTER'S FRIENDS MIXED US! THE FUNNY THING WAS, WHEN I VISITED MY HOME TOWN, BEING A TEACHER IN ANOTHER, PEOPLE THOUGHT IT IS MY YOUNGER SISTER THEY HAVE SEEN. HER NAME WAS EVA, THEY SAID HI EVA, I HAD NO IDEA, WHO THEY WERE, JUST SAID HI. AT HOME, I TOLD MY SISTER, WHOM I HAVE SEEN, AND JUST LAUGHED, HER HAIRDO WAS DIFFERENT ALSO, I JUST DID NOT UNDERSTAND, HOW THEY DID THINK OF ME AS SHE? TALLER, BIGGER THAN I, WAS ABOUT 8 AND SHE WAS 5. SHE IS NO LONGER HERE, PASSED AWAY 10 YEARS AGO, VERY YOUNG. WE LOVED EACH OTHER A LOT, THIS IS WHY THIS PICTURE IS VERY PRECIOUS TO ME! I DO THINK OF HER EVERY DAY! KATI
hey jeanine ann!!!
welcome back to the USA! how was your trip? what do you mean you were not breathing did you pass out??? cant wait to hear from you!
-jeff rubino
Hi there Jeff, no I did not pass out thankfully I just could not catch my breath a few times when Andre was so close. Fortunately my husband was there to hold me up.
Jeanine Ann, Glad you got home safely, I was thinking about you all week in that weather. Hopefully when you come to Jacksonville next April I can promise you much better weather.
Bob Ruark
In what concert did the orchestra play "Lord of the River Dance?" I see it on the internet, but I can not find it in the DVDs.
I don't think it was one of his concerts. I think he appeared with them on some show.
Dear Friends. The picture is Andre & his sister, when he was maybe six yrs old. Am glad Jeanine made it home in one piece. The Toronto weather was horrid, even Sunday most flights were cancelled so Andre & ensemble couldn't even fly home on time/ One very good news, Andre is person of the year on both Dutch & German sites!! Thanks to all who remembered to vote regularly.
We are cold here but very little north wind so it is bearable, & very little snow, so I hope it holds over the weekend as I have a CT scan on Friday, so will have to drive to the bigger city east of us. Should be okay as I should be close to home before dark &
avoid any black ice on the road. Also wondered why the second two videos seem to skip when they are playing. Could be my computer, which coud need a good cleaning. Anyone else having dificulties
Meantime, HappyBlessed Xmas & a joyful new year to all, Love Marianne
Bill that was a terrific guess! I don't think it is Andre or any relation but I have seen the girl before somewhere??
Must think about this. Hugs
Oh hey, could the boy be Jean-Phillipe and one of the sisters?? It just does not look like Andre to me but who knows, I am wrong a lot. Hugs
I guess the two oldest girls. Was getting nervous when we didn't hear from you and some of the others right away. Glad everyone is safe.
We saw Andre at Rogers Center in Toronto. "A night in Vienna" was fantastic.Recognized the Schoenbrunn palace you brought from Vienna. We truly loved your (Andre's) show.
I think I am finally catching up on the concert reports & news. This has been a most unusual week for us and several thousand others in our surrounding areas. We were not really thinking about much of anything but survival! The ice storm moved in on the 8th, by the 9th the ice was so thick the trees and power lines started going down, as they broke under the weight of the ice. Outside it sounded like artillery fire and the towns quickly became dark and cold. Our neighborhood got some power back a couple of days later, but we had lost our electric meter and weatherhead, which had to be repaired first. That puts you on a long waiting list of any electrician.3 days later we did get one to come to the house, but only because we'd been a previous customer. Now the wait for electric inspection and restoration of power! We were without power for a total of 5 days, inside house reached temps of low 40's, outside temps were anywhere from low 20's to lowest at 13. Our heat source was a gas range in the kitchen, our light source a kerosine lamp and many candles. Our car was in garage but we couldn't get out for a big tree limb across the driveway. Didn't matter because all available shelters filled up immediately, all available motels, with power filled up, so we stayed put as any family or friends had no power either. Those that did already had several "guests". Besides we wre better off than many, we could have hot soup and coffee and hot water. We slept with our layered clothing and jackets and hats on our heads. I can say "winter camping" is not my favorite thing to do! BUT, WE SURVIVED! We lost a freezer full of food, we lost power and trees, but we never lost the most important things. Sunday afternoon, at 3:15 pm, Santa arrived, wearing a hard hat, and he was from Tennessee! He had us hooked back up in an hour. As of now, there are only about 300 people still without power, in our town, but still thousands in Oklahoma. It was rough, but it could have been worse. The weatherman had predicted 6-14" of snow and that is just what we didn't need! Thankfully (& I'm sorry to say), it missed us and headed on up to the northwest. They got the snow we didn't need, (guess it had to go somewhere).
From what I gather all who went to Toronto made it safely back home and for that I am thankful too.
Here I have my Wunderland dvd and can't watch it yet, but I will! So many things to catch up on, and I will!
Even though the Grinch hit our town, stealing generators from those who had them, breaking into the dark homes & businesses, trying to ruin Christmas for many, he did not succeed as the spirit of the people will prevail. It's been hard for so many but I hope we will all remember, as the Grinch did when he tried to steal Christmas,
"Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! "Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store. "Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"
IT IS NOT FUNNY, BUT I STILL LAUGHED! WINTER CAMPING!? IT HAD TO BE YOU SHIRLEY, TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING LIKE THIS! I WOULD HAVE LOVE TO SEE YOU IN YOUR HAT, GOING TO BED. SORRY, COULD HAPPEN TO ANY ONE OF US! WE JUST NEVER KNOW ANYMORE. OVER HERE SNOW EVERY OTHER DAY, MEASURED BY THE FOOT. SUN COMES OUT,SOME MELTS, NEXT DAY MORE COMING, SO THE ICE UNDERNEATH, PRETTY DANGEROUS ! THIS CLIMATE CHANGES SO MUCH! I COULD COLLECT A BUNCH FOR BILL ANYTIME! KATI
Hi Kati, now that I look back I'm laughing too. You should have seen mt hair when I came out from under that hat! All in all it could have been much worse,I've been through a similar experience, when the town's gas lines broke, but I was much younger then. The temps were in the single digits then and we had a small electric heater for warmth. This time the coldest nite temp was 13. my friends & I were talking and we decided we'd much rather go through this than the wildfires and floods. We've been busy chopping and clearing all the broken tree limbs from our yard. We're getting too old for this nonsense!!! Finally, today, I got some cookies made, listened to Andre's Christmas music. Did you know that Andre's Jingle Bells is the best music for making cookies??? I had dough everywhere! Then I made my Oreo Smashes. Oh those are so wickedly good! If you want a good, easy candy-cooky thing those are great. Well, it's off to the shower. Oh yes, almost forgot, our cable went out twice yesterday, guess they finally got it fixed now. I hate it when I can't reach out and touch someone!!!
That reminds me of when a client who lived out of country wrote to Denise, my coworker. He appreciated how she handled his account and server, so he wrote what he thought was nice... "Thank you. I want to touch you always"
We got a laugh, but knew it was cute and meant he wanted to keep in touch.
Shirley, did you get the cookie dough off the walls also. otherwise, have to take another shower!!?? Kati
Welcome Home Jeanine Ann, had you on my mind through out your venture. When I heard you passed through Buffalo on your way to Toronto I was concerned because of the nasty weather. Glad everything worked out for you, but girl, hurry-up with your report (just joking), however when you wrote you were so close to André you could smell his cologne, I simply went spazzzzz.OMG
Dear Friends. So glad you weathered the ice storm. I remember one from the west coast & the power lines were as thick as a man's muscular arm. We were without power for 5 days but also had a chinook, which meant warm temps above 40 degress so it was tolerable. The eastern part of the country has had very horrid weather, but so far the West has escaped the downturn. We will get at least one bad storm over the winter, but we do seem to survive, without too many terrible things happening to folks. You can dress for cold, but we've not much defense against
wildfires & floods, so we must be thankful for what we have. Can't stay on the blog too much as the right hand is a mess. Numb, achey, painful & asll of those things. I had damaged my left years ago by crushing it is the wringer,
but what I did to the right hand I just can't recall. Sure is a nuisance as one
uses the hands so much & since I'm right-handed, my left is really awkward. Love to all Marianne
Hi dear Marianne, Thank you for your concern. Everyone made out fine in spite of the weather. I do hope your hand is ok. Just take it easy and if it gets worse, please have it looked at. Love and hugs to you
Hi!
Unfortunately I wrote in twice and both times it seemed my notes did not take so I'm trying again. The concert and the dinners meeting new fans was just the experience I expected it to be. Other than the weather I would do this again and again for Andre. Saturday's performance was super awesome and such beauty took my breath away. It was fun meeting a couple of performers and conversing with them, they were so friendly and so sweet. Included was the highlight meeting new fans both at Saturday night's dinner and Friday night's dinner. Thank you Jeanine Ann, Ruth Morgan and Virginia Baker for a memorable evening and there will be more that I'm looking forward to. With fan's like you guys in all your support for Andre and each other which I experienced, Andre will always be successful as far as success can take him because his fans will always be there. Jeanine, I'm glad you arrived home safely as everyone else and thank you!
hi everyone! haven't posted for awhile...just wanted to say that i thought maybe the girl in the dress was marjorie rieu. the eyes did not come out very clear...marjorie had very big and striking eyes just like pierre so i'm not sure...but that is my guess.
shirley, glad you're okay.
everyone...glad you all are having so much fun at concerts! sounds great.
hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas season...love, L
hey all,
well if that is andre he was born in 1949 so it cant be in the 40's he is standing on his own and at 1 year old that would not be possibal who else coul it be Marc???
thanjs
-jeff
André André André Hooray I did it!!!!! André André André. Thanks for the info about the Character map. I didn't think I would stir up such interest with the accent in André.
I have been in Sydney for a couple of days so am just catching up with André news.
Sounds like everyone had a wonderful time once they were at the concert. I am so pleased that we don't experience snowstorms here in Newcastle, just rain and wind and thunder and lightning - but that's quite enough, thankyou. So glad to hear everyone travelled safely.
Dear Friends. Still think it is Andre, with one of his sisters. Could be 1955, as the boy looks to be about six years old. It is quiet on the blog for now, expect everyone is preparing for the Holidays, & the up-coming tour which begins in Koln Jan 1st.they boy has a resemblance to me especially the chin, so I wonder if there could be a family connection from many years ago. My maternal family originated in Auvergne,
France but went to England with William the Conqueror in 1066, so it is possible What records there were from that time were kept in churches & much of that was destroyed in WWII. It is curious.People moved around, & names were changed or anglified so who knows?
It is early A.M. here & to-day will be a busy day. The hand is kicking up a fuss. It was really painful when I got up this morning, but is bearable, & I can do some stuff, The mouse is rather trying as it cramps etc. See the specialist in Feb. so then we can see what we shall do to repair same. This getting older is for the birds, I'm just wearing out, but I will persevere. Love & Happy Holidays to all
Marianne
I do not understand what the problem is, I have an I-mac and I use the German keyboard on top I click on the German flag, my husband uses the French keyboard, but on both are the accents in French.----The two girls do not look like any relatives to André, wonder if it is Sally and a sister???????????????
Did you all get a good sniff of the Canadian winter? Long time since we had snow like that, since a few years we had mild winters and are spoiled now, but this year it hit us. Hope you had still fun in Toronto at the Rogers Center, I heard that the jokes are still the same???? I would have liked to be a mouse at the dinner to meet you all!
Moderator Jeanine Ann, this is Judy, and I just read you "danced" - no way - I am hyper-ventilating - please tell me it is "true" - I am actually lite headed
with anticipation.....please, may I add a p.s.: can you please send me that PR - RELEASE article, where I can make a good copy to add to my scrap booking pleeze - you know how you make those magic on-line, click-on-this. Thank-eeee
Jeanine Ann. One more (?), I am really interested in 2008 tickets, how are you securing your tickets already???? Once again, thanks for your time in answering
my basic needs.
Hi Judith, Oh I hope you didn't get the impression that I danced with Andre. I would be hyper-ventilating myself. During the show Andre plays the Blue Danube Waltz and the fans know that he likes couples to dance when he plays this so I danced with my husband as did a few other couples so that is why when I was talking about the concert and seeing Andre smiling and playing, etc. and said we danced, that is what I was referring to. I don't think I would have my sanity at this time if I danced with Andre
Will get the link for you and post it in a few minutes. It is on my other computer.
The concerts for next year are already pledged through PBS in Jacksonville, Miami, Fl and Reading, Pa. You must contact them as soon as you hear he is coming to that area. He usually does the same cities every year with a few variations here and there. The schedule is on Andre's web site under "Agenda". Usually they will give you the information about contacting the venue. Which concerts are you interested in? Once you decide contact the PBS station (if it is a PBS pledge - it may be ticketmaster) and ask them about tickets for that particular venue.
Hope this helps. Be back with that link. Hugs to you
Jeanine Ann, can you imagine if he were to start dancing with someone in the crowd? Wow.
Just don't try flying like Mirusia! That would be too scary.
Hi Judith,
Here is the link to the news article for your scrapbook. Hope this helps. http://sev.prnewswire.com/entertainment/20071215/3559923en-1.html
Hi Jeanine, Sally, etc. I hear that on a radio program Andre said on the radio that he will be in Central Park in August. Time to start the digging and detective work? I would definitely be there if it does it.
Hi Virginia: I heard that same thing from a mother of a JSO member. At the time she was not certain of the date. Looks like this is moving along! Sounds like a lot of fun. I wonder what concert Andre will bring to Central Park ... gosh, this has me dreaming already!
ANDRE RIEU AUSTRALIAN TOUR
PERTH:
Decision regarding a concert in Perth
has been postponed until early 2008
Greetings, with regard to the picture in question - could she be a solo singer with André, from "Brazilia" ???
(Cold), (Luke Warm) or "Hot".......
Here is a Hint: I have heard her sing! She sang with the JSO
This is true. When we saw André in Sacramento, we hummed, then sang, Silent Night with the JSO
Hi everyone: Just wanted to stop by and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and you enjoy the holiday with family and friends. Hugs to all. Aud
Thanks Aud. You will be coming to our house on Christmas for Turkey and ham and all that good stuff. I know it will be a long trip for you
Sally, Jeanine Ann, anybody... can you tell me which cd or dvd Carla and Carmen are singing the song from Hansel & Gretel? It reminds me of the Harpo Marx song, Guardian Angels, which by the way, I heard Mario Lanza sing. So beautiful! I love the Hansel & Gretel opera and thought I'd like to hear Carmen & Carla's song, but darned if I can find it. I know I have it somewhere. HELP! anybody????
Hi Shirley,
The Hansel and Gretel Prayer is in the Christmas Around The World DVD... Pauline and I watched it just a couple of nights ago and enjoyed it very much. Just can't beat Carmen and Carla in anything they sing with Andre and the JSO.
Best and Merry Christmas to all.
Lawrence
Thank you so much Lawrence! Ironically, we had planned to watch that one tonight, so I guess we would have found out, huh? Yes, we love anything by Carmen & Carla. I'm certainly enjoying Mirusia too. I love her cd.
Hi. Carla and Carmen sing it on the Wonderland CD and DVD, in addition to Christmas Around the World.
PLEASE OFFER YOUR PRAYERS AND WISHES
FOR GETTING WELL TO BENNY NEYMAN.
http://andrerieufans.com/NewsArchive.htm
My thoughts and prayers are with Benny and hope he makes it. He is such a talent.
sorry to hear that benny is sick i will be praying for him
Oh Sally, I feel so bad about Benny Neyman being so ill. I just love him and Clyde thinks he is the greatest. We will remember him in our prayers. Thank you for letting us know. Hugs
While we are praying, please remember our best friends Bob and Judy. Their granddaughter died last Friday while we were in Toronto. She was only 24 and has a little girl who is about 6. They are devastated because she was their whole world. My sister did not tell us until Sunday because of the concerts. This reminds us how fragile life is. So amid the happiness of Christmas there is sadness. Honi is still hanging on but you can see her going back each day. But this cannot compare to what our friends are going through. Hugs
Oh Jeanine Ann, you are so right about the fragility of life. Every day I thank God for the gift of life and pray for those who have lost a loved one. My sister lost a husband and a son so this is always a time of year with a bit of sadness mixed in. When I heard of Benny's illness I was devastated too. I hurried out to get a card to send to him. I hope he knows how many American fans he has, all because we first heard his Ode To Maastricht with Andre. And thanks to friends, John & Bobbie, who saw that I got some of his cds, I will forever be grateful. I'll always love the song "Why I Sometimes Whisper Your Name"( something like that) and it's on you tube also. prayers going to Benny, Bob & Judy, and Honi & her "parents". I love you all, Andre friends everywhere.
Hi there dude: I am sorry to hear about Benny too. He has such a beautiful voice. I will also keep him in my prayers as I do for our dear friends Bob & Judy and of course for my buddy Honi. She is such a sweetheart. It is always so hard to hear such saddness especially around Christmas. Take care and see you tomorrow. Aud
i will pray for the people illness and death much harder around holidays
For Benny, Bob and Judy and those suffering this Christmas Season:
"A word of comfort for you is that your pain is a sign you have been blessed to draw very close to another. You have loved someone and someone has loved you. The hurt that you feel is a sign of humanness, your sensitivity, and your vulnerability. It is a proof that another human has touched you deeply, even as you have touched them. While you wish that you would not hurt as much as you do, 'remember' that your pain is none other the results of your joy". I to lost my mum two Christmas's ago, and the pain and hurt are still there, but I realize she is in a better place and no longer suffers; but is at peace at Home. Love and Peace to all families.
Hi Judith, I just now saw your beautiful post. I never thought of pain and hurt as being a result of our joy but you are so right. Thank you so much for giving us a new perspective on emotional pain. We were special to those we lost or will lose. You are a good friend Judith, I hope you will be blessed in a special way this Christmas and always. Hugs
I will be praying for Benny also ....and also for Bob and Judy...
Judith said it right...when you love someone so very much it is so hard to be without them. Our hope is that we will see them again. Love, L
Dear friends. I too will add Benny, Bob
& Judy to my prayers as they too can get
well. It is sad that so many of us have such sorrow at this Joyfull Season/ It is not about gifts etc, but more the Love between people, which is so true of this blog. We began as fans & have evolved into friends across the world.
This is something that is just amazing
& I for wone is so glad that we have found so many friends who love each other & it is all because of our love & esteem for Andre/ It really is a peculiar world when you think of all the good things there are, when there is also so many places where love & kindness to each other just does not exist. Music does heal a lot of hurt, & Andre can be pleased that so many of us have gone past being fans into being friends & caring for each other. It really is quite amazing, at least I think so. I hope Benny recovers from his illnes, and Bob & Judy as well. Don't quite know who they are, but still can send a prayer for their recovery. I know this works, as I've been on the receiving end, when I have had life threatening illness & I am still here, & ticking along at 74. Thanks be to God. Love Marianne
Extra Hugs to All Who need them. Benny, Bob & Judy, Leslie's sister and those who are spending their Christmas without family. May they feel the Love of the Lord, and all of our hearts here at our Family of Fans & Friends Around The World. Special hugs and prayers for Honi & Cotton, Poubelle, Moise and new Rainbow Bridge resident Gorby. (I know the difficulty of losing a fur baby at Christmas time. It has been 11 years this Dec. 16 that Dewey passed to the Rainbow Bridge. I miss him as much today as day 1)
Mostly I give Thanks to our Lord for the Blessing of allowing all of us to share this Earth, the joys far exceed the sorrows.
Merry Christmas ~Sally~
Hello my darling Sally and all my wonderful friends.... Merry Christmas... yes as expected it was a terribly sad morning, my sis Mavis and I visited Bill in the nursing home and Santa arrived around 10 am to give each and every resident a Christmas Present ... very touching. Then I went back for Christmas lunch at my sisters. We had record breaking temperatures in Perth .. Christmas day it was over 40 degrees (celsius) and yesterday (Boxing Day) we were the hottest city in the world, temp reached 44.2 degrees (celsius) boy of boy those pics of your white Christmas Shirely sure did give me goosebumps.... So as cold as it is for you it is as hot for us ... I managed to stay cool in my lovely air conditioning.
I watched the Ovation special last night at the sis's place with Leo Schofield and Andre in his home town of Maastricht. And right at the end of the interview Andre named the capital cities he will be visiting in 2008 and yes he named Perth.... so all of us here shouldn't lose heart, just because it's not up on his website yet. I feel in my heart he will visit.
Thank you for a wonderful six months everyone (that's how long it is that I have been on this website) I feel like I have known you all for years. Thanks also to the extra hugs for Christmas Sally ... I felt every one of them. My famous warm hugs to each and every person who may be going into 2008 alone, just remember, you are never alone as long as you believe and as long as the wonderful website is here. Big kisses to you all. Happy New Year my lovely friends ...xxxxx Les
112 degrees? Wow. You've got the heat, Kait has the snow.
Hello dear Leslie,
I am so glad that you could be with your dear sister and her husband for Christmas. We were praying for you and all who had a sad Christmas. Our dear friends who live in Pa. lost their granddaughter the Friday before Christmas while we were in Toronto with Andre. She was 24 and has such a nice husband and little 6 year old. They were devastated and of course we were sad too for them. They still do not know the cause and had to send tissue to Atlanta to try to find a cause. She just fell over at work (she was studying to be a LPN). So for some it was a sad Christmas and I feel so bad for everyone who goes through this.
I would love to have your weather Les. I just love the hot weather. It has been so cold and wet and dreary here since before we went to Toronto but that is winter.
My prayers will be with you and your family in the New Year and I hope all your dreams come true to see Andre. I feel too that all will work out with Perth so keep your lovely chin up. My warmest hugs to you and Mavis and her husband. Love and prayers
I'm so sorry to hear about Benny Neyman. He's such a wonderful entertainer and he's brought so much joy to many people. My thoughts and prayers go out to him for a full recovery.
Also, Bob and Judy, you have my heartfelt sympathies in your loss. It's never easy to lose someone so close. We have all lost some dear people in our lives, and it never gets easy. All we can do is think of the good times and remember them always with all our love.
It's very hard to lose someone and it makes it even more so, this time of year.
Of course,
We never really lose them,
they just disappear for awhile.
We will see our loved ones again,
of that I can be sure,
for God
would not give us their lives and love,
if it were to be,
that they are never with us
again.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all, please be safe and happy.
With love to all. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Thank you Marlene for your beautiful kind words for my friends and thank you to all of you who expressed sympathy for their loss. I will make sure they see every kind word.
I want to wish all my dear friends a Blessed and Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with hope, health, happiness and the joy which comes from this lovely season and the music which comes from our beloved Andre and his JSO and families.
It is raining and blowing here so bad that I thought I better get on in case we lose our power. It does not take much in this area. We were down 42 hours with the ice storm (while we were safe and snug in Toronto) and my nice sister and brother made sure our kitties were warm by running the fireplace off and on. Luckily only fridge things spoiled and the freezers were fine. A lot of trees were pulled out by the roots in our wooded area.
Stay safe everyone and have a beautiful day. Hugs
Please add my sympathy to to your friends who have suffered such a great loss, as well as to anyone who has suffered a loss or is suffering a loss to come.
ANDRE RIEU STILL DOMINATES THE AUSTRALIAN DVD CHART
The big star of DVD in 2007 was Andre Rieu. The maestro this week holds down the No's 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 23, 29 and 32 spots on the DVD chart. That is 30% of the Top 40 DVD chart.
Rieu's 12 titles sold a combined 51,597 units last week.
by Paul Cashmere - December 23 2007
I'm not sure about tomorrow, whether I'll be able to be online or not. I'm way too busy to be "normal".
I want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas, I hope your day is filled with peace, love and happiness, and may you receive everything your heart desires.
My heart and prayers go out to those who cannot be home for their Christmas...home is where the heart is, especially this time of year.
Take care everyone, and I'll see you after Christmas. I'll try to pop in here tomorrow, but there are no guarantees, so everyone be good!
Dear friends Just received word that one of my best girlfriends passed a year
ago in Nov 2006. Gloria leaves a husband
two daughters & two grandaughters. He's
bereft as is expected. We had a lot of fun when we were first married & built our houses to-gether. Pound nails, install gyproc sheets, then fill sand & paint. Also made drapes for both homes,
We'd do this after the regular days' work was done & we'd work until dark. It
was quite the endeavor & we had fun doing the work. We had a dog & cat & they had a dog so we had a great time.
We were all in our early 20ties so we tackled any job, except the plumbing &
our other good friends John & Nettie had
the plumbing shop so we traded work & each bought our own materials, so it really worked out well. We had bought our lot with all the material for the house, with a lot of extra, so we lined the walls inside & out with cedar siding
& still didn't use up all the material.
We had electric radiant heat & were never cold as the house was extra insulated & windows caulked for wind & weather. It was very cosy!!. When we left to move to Calif, I cried all the way to Seattle & then got over that. We put our hearts into that very first house & any succeeding home has never had the same hold on me. Expect my daughter shortly. They have a satellite & they keep changing the codes so they get them off my computer which will download and theirs' won't as one port needs to be replaced. When I began with the computer, I was so scared to do anything, but I finally reached out
& have never looked back. As long as the flags are green, the sites are safe but if they're red, I just don't go there, so I've never been plagued with viruses or slowdown unless my hard drive gets too full & I've been taught how to clean up the disc & defrag. Bear
can't figure out how I get by so well but I think it is the make of computer
which is Dell. I've had it three years
and no major glitches. Happy Holidays to
everyone Love Marianne
Dear Marianne: So sorry to hear of your friend's passing. Thankfully you have wonderful memories to hold you until you both meet again. (which I hope is a long long way off)
Santa-rieu mailed you a little something.
Before I get busy again, I just want to tell you we watched Wonderland last night! Magnificent! What a powerful voice Brian Dickerson(?) has! I really like the Mozart song. I see that this was based on an idea by Marjorie. What a wonderful idea. I thought Suzan sounded better than ever in her rendition of Over The Rainbow, and of course Mirusia, what can I say about her? What a wonderful voice she has. And the tenors and Carmen & Carla. Can't get much better than that! I'm hearing that the Vienna one has some defects so I'm glad I haven't ordered that one yet. I will later. BTW, do you think Andre will do a Slyvester Punch this year? I hope so, I always enjoy those. Now, I'm hoping you all will enjoy Christmas Day. I'm loving all the smells & the music, mmmmm.
Yes Shirley, the smells and the music. My sister has the turkey on and will bring sweet potatoes, I will make the ham and mashed potatoes. The turkey smelled yummy. I must have my mashed potatoes, I don't do sweet potatoes but everyone else does.
Happy Christmas Eve to all.
Yes Shriely the Vienna DVD has a skip or something in the beginning but i it is beautiful. I just love it. I emailed the helpdesk and they said everyone will get a new disc. Andre really looks great in Vienna (where doesn't he look great
merry and blessed christmas to all love and peace in each home and lots of music to stir the heart helen
Thank You Helen. I hope your Christmas was Wonderful too.
The 'Andre Rieu In Wonderland' DVD is just terrific. It's expensive, but worth every cent. The DVD is in Dutch, but has selectable subtitles. And, it's the only concert DVD that Andre is shrunk to a height of only 8 inches.
Wasn't that funny, about andre shrinking? I loved the whole dvd. As for Pierre and Suzan, I don't know anything. I guess only they do and they haven't told me a thing!
What's the latest on Pierre and Suzan?
They have not been together for the past six months. I believe it was Pierre's current girlfriend I saw with him in the hotel lobby in Toronto. Their kisses certainly were not platonic. I feel sad, because it was like watching a fairy tale develop. Of course we don't know what really happened but it's still sad to think it didn't work out.
Hi Virginia I had heard they broke up in the summer and that is so sad. I don't know any details but I guess it just did not work out for them. BTW I still have the chocolate violin, I hate to eat it because it looks so nice but I love chocolate. Thank you again for the treat. It was a great weekend. Hugs
I DONOT HAVE TO DREAM OF A WHITE CHRISTMAS, IT IS HERE! KATI
Oh Kati, that is beautiful! We only got a smattering of snow on the 23rd, but it was enough to enjoy the wonderful full moon. A full moon on new fallen snow is indescribable. Don't you love the look of snow on the evergreens?
IT IS GOING YOUR WAY SHIRLEY!! MORE COMING TONIGHT, THAT IS MOVING TOWARD YOU! WE CAN COLLECT A TON FOR MR. BILL! MR. BILL, THANBK YOU FOR THE CARD, REMINDS ME OF SOMWHERE NICE AND WARM! SHOVELED SNOW ALL DAY YESTERDAY! KATII
THAT'S A LOT OF SNOW BALLS!! MR. BILL BETTER BE ON THE LOOK OUT! SPLAT !!
Hi Jeff, Re. Signed violin
I just looked at you post about the signature of Andre on the violin advertised on e bay. The photo is of my violin that was put up on the net, but the violin I purchased from a uni student by the name of Nat that had the violin signed in Sydney by Andre. The violin is at this moment been framed in a cabinet and was to be given to my Father as a Christmas present but it won't be ready until mid January. I will post the finished product on this site so everyone can have a look. My father still does not know about it so I will hang on to it until his birthday in March. But we did have a great Christmas day watching Christmas with Andre Rieu and new years eve punch. I was even wearing my Andre Rieu Crew shirt for the occasion. I got my tickets to the Brisvagas concert on Dec 3, 2008 and I'll be taking my dad and a few friends, only 11 1/2 months to go.
Merry Christmas to all the Andre fans family and peace be with you in 2008.
Gary
Just letting everyone know that in this week's Woman's Day (Australia) December 31 2007 there is an article about André. And in January issue of Limelight André begins his regular column. If anyone wants a copy of these magazines I am quite happy to send them for the cost of magazine plus postage.
Limelight $7.95 and Woman's Day $3.95, plus postage.
By the way I hope everyone had a peaceful and happy Christmas. I hope that 2008 will be just great as we have so much to look forward to. Only 321 days to go!!!!
Hi Margaret, thanks for the information on Limelight and Woman's Day. I had heard that Andre would be a regular contributor to Limelight beginning in January. That is very nice of you to offer to send the magazines to us. What is the Woman's Day article like, are there photos?
I hope you have a wonderful New Year Margaret and that much happiness will be coming your way. It will be coming your way in about 321 days

(hi jeanine ann i saw u in the video of the fan diner. i wish i was there!)
bye all
Hi there my buddy Jeff, no I haven't heard a thing about Benny nor do I know about a DVD of Toronto but I surely hope so. It was so wonderful. My report is on the way. It is four pages long and took me three hours to compose. There was so much going on and I didn't want to leave anything out. Wish you could have been there at the dinner and concerts too. Hugs
We are looking forward to Andre's concert in Melbourne next November. We
have ourtickets for the Saturday night cencert. If possible please (we hope he will) play
"Toreador" from "Carmen". You will be amazed, gob-smacked and
bewildered by the reaction of the Melbourne audience. You will not get
the same reaction in any other capital city in Australia. Kind regards
Mary

A Very Special "Thank You" to Webmaster Sally from a very "excited", happy, totally flabergastic recipient of the best pic-me-upper awsome treasure from one human being to another human being. I was in such a hurry, I forgot to add, that I am the 'Birdlady" of our block. I have birds which I feed, deer, bunny's
some wild turkeys, not to mention the ducks that stop by with their "bills".
I am so happy today, I probally could sing like a 'lark' ( better put in the ear plugs ) Happiness to All....
Dear Friends, This will be a New Years'
wish to all. May 2008, bring health, wealth & happiness to all, with lots of
Andre concerts. With the big stadia tours, some of us will likely have to watch vicariously, sort of over the shoulders of the JSO, Sopranos, Tenors & guests, I do hope there will be at least one dvd from down under, but if it is a composite of all the venues, that too, would be great to have that as a souvenir. From what I understand, the Toronto concerts will be made into a dvd, with a lot of the preparation, which is a show all by itself. It is one huge undertaking & they were able to pull it off & on time even with a balky generator. The lighting takes a huge amount of power, but with out it, the concert would fall short of Andre's
need for perfection, which we can all appreciate. Happy New Year everyone, & to those who are ailing, I hope your health improves to the point of being bearable. Have to wait until Feb to find out what can be done with this right hand, Now it not only hurts, aches, but burns like a scald. Not a whole lot of fun, but I will suck it up & carry on, because I enjoy my message. both sent & received. Love Marianne
Hi Marianne,
I am so sorry your hand still is hurting you. You are in my prayers for a speedy recovery. Is there any kind of medication that you can rub on your hand to ease the burning feeling. Maybe something that can get beneath the skin. I know some of the creams have Lidocain (sp) and that does help. I am surprised you must wait until February to see what can be done. Just take care of yourself and I hope it will heal soon for you. Love and hugs,
Dear Friends. Thanks for the prayers Jeanine Ann. What I have with this hand is carpal tunnel, plus quite a bit of nerve damage, & hopefully once I see the nerve specialist, he will recommend the surgery & it will turn out the way my left hand recovered after that surgery. Also I'm older so I may not heal as well. Quite a few folks in the building have had a very strange flu bug
including me. You just feel drained &
would rather sleep most of the time. One
just seems to run out of steam. Hope I'll perk up after I have my coffee etc.
It sure isn't like me to want to do nothing. Also think the really cold weather has an effect on us seniors, Golden Years, what a misnomer, when you're just wearing out, but it is better than rusting out. Still 3 days til 2008, & the voting on the sites will
re-open. Am also anticipating the new Ball drop in Time's Square. It's been up-dated for the 100th anniversary. Iget the TV from Detroit 2 hours early so I can see the New Year come in, and still get to bed at a reasonable time.
Love to all Marianne
