JANICE VISITS ANDRE RIEU IN BRISBANE

JANICE VISITS
ANDRE RIEU IN BRISBANE

I would like to share some of these photos taken by me when Andre was in Brisbane last week for the signing his new Waltzing Matilda CD.

Incidentally there was huge excitement here as the Australian public has knocked Madonna off the number one spot in the charts with the sales of our very own CD - so much for the Aussie market! Andre's DVD's constituted 48% of all DVD sales in the country last month - he is huge here now. There are billboards everywhere, his photo is on the back of taxis, in bus shelters and he is always on the Ovation channel every weekend. It is an amazing phenomenon.

Congratulations Janice, it was a wonderful day. It so refreshing to here that beautiful old scottish air played and sung so well with the wonderful lyrics of "Banjo" Paterson all as intended by "Banjo". He intended it as a love song and that is how Andre and Mirusia performed it. Their rendition of "I still call Australia home" has to stand as the only one worth listening to. Earlier performances by lesser mortals have actually had me shunning the song but Mirusia has given it something it was sadly lacking. Well done Andre and Mirusia a wonderful taste of what is to come in November and December.

Thank you for your response Darcy - I have to say that it was hearing the iconic Australian songs that brought me to tears of sheer emotion and I know I was not the only one. My main concern now is that I will wear out my CD too quickly!

Hi Janice,  Nice photos - you did well, and I love your one with Pierre in front of André's poster too.  Glad you liked my banner.  I took about 20 photos for people holding it,but managed to stay behind the camera myself.  I made it for when we were greeting André at the Airport in Brisbane on Wednesday night, and he saw it then.  I was talked into taking it with me on Friday, but I never expected that he would end up playing in front of it as he did.  It was very exciting for me. We had a brilliant day. Thank you for sharing the photos.

Hello Helen: That is a very nice and fun banner you made! No wonder so many people wanted their photos taken with it. I think Andre appreciated it as well.

      Dear Helen
You gave so many of us pleasure and I would have said your name if I had known it. I did say it was not mine and it was a wonderful work of computer art. Yes it was a brilliant day and I like you are so looking forward to November. I think you were so fortunate to know when he was arriving so you could greet him - that would have been wonderful. I didn't dream Sally would highlight my personal letter to her in such an amazing way but I am glad she has now I am over the initial shock if it gives people an idea of just how wonderful the reception was in Brisbane. Roll on November!!

Very nice photos and a great story Janice! Thanks for sharing.
I certainly enjoy the popularity that André is having in Australia. The sales are incredible. I wouldn't expect anything less of André Rieu. He's absolutely the best!

      Dear Marlene
I also love to see other's pictures and I am hoping to take even better ones when my husband and I attend the concerts in November. I hope you too are able to go to one of them. I agree - Andre is a unique, charismatic and hugely talented man who seems to have been blessed with all of the finest qualities and talents, able to give so much happiness to so many.
      In friendship ~ Janice

I would love it if I could go...but I live in America and the possibilities of going to a concert in Australia is not possible, but looking forward to all your photos and reports!

Joan, I had to smile when I read your comment. Those are the exact words I said to my husband when we first saw Andre & the JSO.

      Hi Joan
I think we can all love him in a true and lovely sense as he is so incredibly special. The world became a richer place the day he was born and just listening can lift your spirits and transport you to a wonderful 'place'any time.
