Andre Rieu Will Return To Australia In 2009

Andre Rieu has announced another Australian tour in 2009, this time down-sizing to the more `intimate` arena shows.

Rieu’s concert last week at Melbourne’s Telstra Dome was the biggest concert he had ever played. On Saturday, November 15, 38,605 fans watched as the Maestro fiddled.

“It was an overwhelming experience. The warmth of the audience was overpowering,” he said in a statement. “My energy comes from the audience. I am only returning to them that which they give me.”

The Melbourne shows were also filmed and will be Andre Rieu’s next DVD. This week, he has the Top 5 titles in the Aussie DVD chart.

Shows for 2009 will be:

Sydney – Acer Arena – October 15 and 16 – On sale December 1, 2008

Newcastle Entertainment Centre - October 18 – On sale December 1, 2008

Brisbane Entertainment Centre – October 22 – On sale December 8, 2008

Adelaide Entertainment Centre – October 26 – On sale November 24, 2008

Tickets are on sale for New Zealand as well.  I wonder will Andre add more dates and/or cities later?  Guess we will have to wait for him to announce it.   I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I don't know about you Wowing Adelaide Andre, you sure did WOW me and if every single person at the concert in Adelaide last night and tonight left feeling as drunk from the experience as I did, then you have impressed Adelaide albeit the numbers were down. When I mentioned I had been to see you to people at work lots of people said they had heard the concert was a huge success. Bit of an understatement really, it wasn't huge it was "gigantic". I still cannot comprehend the amount of work that must go into putting on a production like that, please bottle your enthusiasm, energy and anything else to help us "old farts" get through our days - LOL, I am still ok at 63, still work and have no intentions of giving it away just yet. I came to Adelaide from UK in 1967 and absolutely love it here. I think the problem with Adelaide is that they have far too many people whose backs go out more than they do!! so they don't venture away from the "square" to try or see something or someone different, so please do not think we are all like that, I wouldn't have missed the concert for the World. Personally, anyone who thought it wasn't worth the money so never went. never gave you or the show a chance, they had judged it before they even saw it, but believe me Andre., a lot of people where I work said to me today "I wish now I had gone" WELL DONE to a man who accepts people as people and for who we all are, just ordinary citizens of Adelaide, not by what we have or what we haven't achieved, we can't all be Andre Rieu, but we would truly like to be. As the group Abba sang - "Thank you for the music", from the bottom of my heart Andre, just amazingly beautiful. My favourites were of course the Blue Danube - I used to dance to that when I was little as I did ballroom dancing, and of course the famous Bolero. I call that "Torville and Dean music" - the ice skaters.

You take care Andre, "don't overdo it", hope to see you on October 26th 2009 at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, can't wait. Cheers - Heather

Well if Andre is returning to Adelaide next year that says something doesn't it? And as I was looking at the pictures on his site, about the Adelaide concert, seems like evryone was having a grand time! I especially liked the picture of the lady in orange. That just about says it all doesn't it?, and from looking at all the pictures, there may be a lot of "grey heads" but there are also people of all ages. I especially love the younger ones, and guess what, they are all smiling, so I say "way to go Adelaide"!

Saddly, there are unhappy people who cannot say anything good about anyone.
Andre brings his orchestra around the world to share wonderful music with people. You & I know he puts his heart into his concerts.

I am a bit surprised that Andre has not included Hobart, Tasmania in his tour next year, but I guess there is still time. The one concert in Brisbane will sell quickly but I see he has scheduled that one for Friday night allowing himself the option of the Saturday as well. He can have as many concerts as he likes this time as it is only Suncorp that has the 3 concert rule.
