Everyone here is so looking forward to the upcoming tour. You are not missing anything by not being in Brisbane today, we have a large "low" sitting off the coast creating huge sea's and the wind would "blow the dog off the chain". So pleased I am not flying anywhere today. Certainly not a day for sailing on the bay. ha ha.
MIRUSIA, Belated Happy Birthday wishes from Arizona <g>
I'm still enjoying the CD of Music you sent me 2 years ago, your autographed photo is still reverently enshrined, & I'm looking forward to see & hearing you on 23 June 2009, here in Phoenix.
I'll be sitting in the center seat, center section, front row......wearing plenty of Chartreuse colored attire. The photo that was taken of us...You, Frank, Sanne, & me has now been added to my JSO photo T-shirt <g>
Thank you, for taking the time to de-cloak & say something on this blog. We believe a lot of JSO members regularly look at this blog, it really warms all of our hearts when you & others occasionally "say something"
Sincerely,

Happy April to everyone. My father was born on this day and it's very special to me. As you can imagine, as a child my father was "April-fooled" a lot, so we didn't do too much "fooling" when we were kids. haha He didn't mind, but I think we, as kids, felt we shouldn't.
I always think of this day and the beginning of spring...April brings out so many flowers, even though it's the April showers that bring May flowers. Have a great month everyone. The concerts in America start soon, so I hope everyone enjoys and takes notes and reports back to us with all the excitement they experienced in their concerts!

Had a truly magnificent night on Friday at Mary Duff's concert here. Mary is truly a wonderful talent and her backing group are equally as talented. It was just one of those nights you never want to fade from your memory. We were lucky enough to see her in a small venue, just a few hundred fans, it was almost like a private show. After the show, Mary spent as much time as was needed to to sign away and chat with all who wanted. She just made everyone feel as though they were a special fan to her. Jill, who had seen her concert the week before had told her we would be there. During the concert, Mary asked for the house-lights and then said - where's Grayeme and Lynne??? Gave us a little welcome and said to make sure we have a chat afterwards. I guess that was a special moment too. Anyone that can see her in Branson MO. next month won't be disappointed.

I thought it was nice of her but didn't really expect her to remember, she is having such a busy tour, concerts every night and a lot of travelling in between. So, when Grayeme said she'd not only remembered but made a big thing of it I was very thrilled. What a nice lady. Ten out of ten to you Mary xx

The mother cat, helpless to save them, started crying. The willows at the river's edge swept their long graceful branches into the water - the kittens gripped on tightly to the branches and were rescued. Each springtime since, goes the legend, willow branches sprout tiny fur-like buds where the tiny kittens once clung.

But this story is wonderful, I will be sharing it with my family later today, as we do the Polish Easter prep. Should be a wonderful day - but truth be told, I can't wait to see the expressions on the faces of my family when I am delivered at the door steps in the beautiful country side in Baldwinsville. I am growing into this color ~ what a wonderful spring "surprise" I gave myself. Happy Easter My Friend, and sending Beautiful Happy Easter Greetings to all fans, friends, and Andre and all the beautiful JSO. Watch out for the red head on the 20th bearing the Legend of PussyWillows, and carrying some into the Concert, for as the Polish tradition goes, on "DYNGUS DAY", you get to chase the boys with pussywillows sprinkled with water. A sign of Spring, Love in the air, and the young ladies chasing their young loves. WATCH OUT ANDRE, it may be a week late, but pussywillows hold up a L-O-N-G time. I am looking for the lyrics of the Danube Waltz as performed in the Andre Rieu auf Schonbrunn DVD. My boys just love it and would like to sing along even thou we are Afrikaans speaking South-Africans.
We would appreciate very much as I could only found other versions on the internet.

As far as I know, there are only two official versions of lyrics. The first by Joseph Weyl, the second by Franz von Gernerth. I like the second version best, but personally, I'd rather just listen to the music without words, the way Andre does it.

IDO AGREE WITH YOU SHIRLEY, THAT IS A SONG TO ENJOY DANCING ON WITHOUT ANY LYRICS. THE BEST WOULD BE ALWAYS THE GERMAN VERSION. KATI
Original Title: An der schönen blauen Donau (On the Beautiful Blue Danube)
The Danube River (Donau in German) may be slate gray, faintly green or brown—with luck, silvery—but never blue, it seems. Admirably, however, it was blau to Johann Strauss the Younger when he composed this "second national anthem of Austria" in 1867. Written by a hack, the first lyrics to it never gained acceptance. Since then the catchy, stirring music has inspired lyrics of all sorts, from charming and poetic to burlesque and indecent.
At a concert of light music in Vienna's beautiful Stadtgarten on the afternoon that Strauss died, a note was handed up to the conductor and quickly passed around to the members of the orchestra. After an unprogrammed pause, with no preamble and but a slight nod from the conductor, the strings began to softly play the shimmering introduction to The Waltz. Those present realized at once that their ailing beloved King of Waltz had passed away.
This brief comment is given in lieu of any not totally satisfactory lyrics. Just hum it. Da dum da dum ta dum.... Let your lively lyrical feet gracefully write romantic riverine steps for you. Squish slip slide, slosh slip slide....
Oh, well... There are times when I just can't hack it, but give my try below a try. Then judge for yourself whether it's passable or risible. At least, like no other lyrics, it alludes to the Vienna Woods, Salzburg (with a salute to The Sound of Music), and the fact that the Austrians (with help from Poland) stopped Muslim invaders at the gates of Vienna, for which all Europeans and their descendants in other lands are eternally indebted and grateful.
Blue Danube Waltz... The Blue Danube Waltz, (Blue Danube Waltz) As airy and light (airy and light) As swallows in flight (swallows in flight).
So rhythmic for two (rhythmic for two), For sweet lissome you (your partner too), And awesome and fullsome love blossoms As twosomes glide along.
|:Glide, slide, whirl and twirl, Bouyant as boys and girls. Sparkle, gleam 'n dream, glow and glitter! Show off your ever dazzling, stunning repertoire, Radiant as comets blazing from afar.
|:Come, step along with me, Just as pretty as you please— Pleasing as a gentle breeze Whispering softly through the leaves Of fabled Vienna Woods trees.
Come aboard this pleasure boat now with me, Let's go upstream to Salzburg and see Those belovèd hills with the sound of music alive, So alive to every enraptured ear and eye.
Come, step along with me, Just as pretty as you please— Pleasing as a gentle breeze Fluttering the Vienna Woods' Venerated fall leaves.
Stand with me now where The gates of Vienna once stood, And its heroic defenders Mercilous foes steadfastly withstood Who treacherously slaughtered all those Who dared their barbaric jihad oppose. Halt! Back off! Your ungodly tyranny ends here!
Oh, glorious Vienna, we Do so gratefully cherish thee, For, thanks to thee, we And our dear children are free— To sing, to dance, and to think for ourselves, Like flowers to thrive and flourish,
Vivace By the great blue Danube nourished, Never to wilt and die when like pure gold, God's gift to us of freedom is burnished And hearts and minds never grow too old |:Unceasingly and forever and ever To treasure all that's good to behold. Forever and ever und auf immer. Amen.

An der schönen blauen Donau Melodie - Johann Strauß II, 1867 (1825-1899)
Franz von Gernerth
Donau so blau, Durch Tal und Au Wogst ruhig du dahin, Dich grüßt unser Wien, Dein silbernes Band Knüpft Land an Land, Und fröhliche Herzen schlagen An deinem schönen Strand.
Met vriendelijke groeten, Mit freundlichem Gruß, Meilleurs salutations, Best regards,
Benny,

Danube so blue, so bright and blue, through vale and field you flow so calm, our Vienna greets you, you silver stream through all the lands you merry the heart with your beautiful shores.
Far from the Black Forest you hurry to the sea giving your blessing to everything. Eastward you flow, welcoming your brothers, A picture of peace for all time! Old castles looking down from high, greet you smiling from their steep and craggy hilltops, and the mountains' vistas mirror in your dancing waves.
The mermaids from the riverbed, whispering as you flow by, are heard by everything under the blue sky above. The noise of your passing is a song from old times and with the brightest sounds your song leads you ever on.
Stop your tides at Vienna, it loves you so much! Whenever you might look you will find nowhere like Vienna! Here pours a full chest the charms of happy wishes, and heartfelt German wishes are flown away on your waters.

I could never understand why some people are made fun of. We are all on this earth to learn and grow and accomplish so much on our lives...if bullies and such as them, would just get on with their own life and leave other people to their life...I don't know...maybe we would have more heroes and compassionate people, more love and understanding in the world. I also believe to too many people are more interested in looks than talent, seems that way in the entertainment world. I have a friend Nan who is coming from Florida to see the Reading concert and Jolanta is coming from the Newark area. Jolanta are I are within a reasonable distance but Nan is really making a big trip but she is bringing family who want to see the Pa. Dutch and Hershey Park. Lets think this through and once we find out where Andre will be maybe we can all fly to the nearest concert for us. I would love to meet so many fans. Lets make it happen. We can also pick up a lot more fans also. So many fans came to Toronto but of course they had to fly. We can see who is willing to come the longest distance.
You can bring your camera Judith, purse, opera glasses. Wear the button I sent to you. I know the date is wrong but no one will notice. Just send your photos to Sally with your report and she will see they get on the blog. If you have one that you would like enlarged like about 8 x 10 send it to me and I will print it for you. Even if you have more than one that will be fine. I will see that you get them. I am really so excited for you my friend. I cannot wait to hear your reaction. Well, it is over and I must say I have not been ever so disappointed from a show as this time. Part of it was my own fault because I never looked at the tickets. The show started at l9.OO hours not like before at 2O.OO hours, so my husband and I were one hour late and missed almost half of the concert. But I was told from other disappointed people in die audience that I did not miss much because he brought only repeats from old shows. When we entered the bull was raging though the crowd after the fat lady in the red dress, from the 2OO3 tour. I could not believe that almost nothing was new, except the balloons were so very few and they came only down in the front and all went on the stage or most of them and André stepped on them in the tact of the music like a 6 year old and busted them, but otherwise only the 3 lead singers had new dresses. I could have bitten my own head off for missing Carla´s solo in the first part, I do not even know what she sang, but in the group of course the song from Traviata and Freude schöner Götterfunke and from my fair Lady a song. Our seats were not too bad, but being used to front row seats in the parterre, I looked more on the monitor where the faces were cruelly exposed to the sharp cameras. You could see every bump and pimple, even covered with heave make up, also the sweat. I just could not enjoy anything. It also disturbed me that André rips the Blue Danube waltz apart and always stops. Also never saw before people leaving right after the Radetzky March and he gave only 5 encores. I took pictures which you could count as the "funnies". That is it and I have to see most likely the same show in Germany again. That would be definitely my last one. A very disappointed Ex-Fan
I have wondered how it would be for those of us who are accustom to setting up front, when we stop with the premium tickets and sit in the rafters, or what feel that way. I too have been spoiled with front row, and front & center seating, but with our economy wonder if I will do the same from now on. For me, I will say... hearing the music live.. is so splended and wonderful. Even in the front rows, I sometimes close my eyes to allow my ears to process the beauty they hear. My bet is Judith had a whole other experience

And as for me, who can't get to a concert this year at all, I think I would be happy to just be at any concert of Andre's, whether I've heard it all before or not.

Inge, you will probably get a new perspective in your Germany concert. I only mention first timers because when I went to my first concerts I went to 4 in one week. The same program was done at each concert, so I was a bit disappointed at first, but at each venue it was different, somtimes it seemed the concert was livelier, but so was the audience. I think Andre feeds off the energy of the crowds. But I was sitting next to a lady who had never even heard of Andre & this was her first concert & I can tell you I saw a new fan born right there. To me, each concert is different because the people are different. The whole atmosphere changes. I guess I just am more of a people watcher, even while I'm watching Andre & the orchestra I'm tuned into the audience, so much so that I forget to take any pictures! As much as I love to look at all the pictures that fans take, I forget to take my own, can you believe that? Then I think oh well, my camera is not so good or expensive for me to gett good shots anyway so I just enjoy everybody elses. Inge, you seem like a very sensible person, I'm sure you will put this one behind you. HA, maybe we should send him some new jokes?

I remember last year we were ready to leave for Florida we did not have our tickets and we had to have them overnighted to us and we had to pay for them! I don't think they realize sometimes that people come from a distance for these concerts. I was especially worried about Nan Cole who is coming from Florida and is leaving on the 22nd. We are also meeting with Jolanta Szulc who is coming from Newark. So we should all have a great time. It is always so nice to meet other fans. That is a bonus of these concerts. You not only get to see Andre and his JSO but you get to meet a lot of wonderful fans. Hugs
YOU KNOW, NOT EVERYBODY WENT TO GERMANY. YOU ARE LUCKY. ANOTHER COMMENT I DISLIKE, INGE FROM YOU CALLING SOMEBODY A FAT LADY. I DO NOT THINK IT IS NICE, THE MAIN THING IS THE PIECE THEY PLAYED, YOU MIGHT HAVE SEEN IT ON OTHER DVD, BUT , MAYBE, NOT MOST PEOPLE!?IT IS FUN. MOST OF THE TIMES, THEY DO HAVE THE BALLOONS COMING DOWN UP FRONT, IF ANDRE KICKS THEM AWAY, THAT MIGHT BE SECURITY REASON ALSO. THE BLUE DANUBE IS HIS TRADEMARK, HE DOES ALWAY PLAY IT THE SAME WAY, TRY TO SURPRISE PEOPLE, OK, YOU WERE NOT, BUT MAYBE THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE, IF THEY SEEN HIM THE FIRST TIME, MAYBE ENJOYED IT.

Well, gosh Inge, sounds like you had a horrible time. I'm so sorry. So many of us look forward to seeing André every chance we get that I believe some of us, like me, don't care what songs are played, or what jokes are told. It's funny about the "bull" chasing the lady in the red dress, when I first saw that, it was in "Live in Dublin"...I thought the lady was just a concertgoer and didn't realize that it was staged, until after the break when the PBS spokesperson said it was. I couldn't believe that she was so "scared" of this fake "bull"...when I realized this was all staged, then I had to laugh at myself for believing otherwise. I've since seen this many times, and truly would love to see it for real. It's become very humorous for me. I don't believe that André could ever play the Blue Danube where I wouldn't enjoy it. I do believe he enjoys seeing so many people waltzing to this incredible piece of music, and so do I.
I have to agree about the large screens making all too "close-up", but for those way up there in the nosebleed sections, I'm sure it's quite appreciated. I certainly enjoy sitting up close at an André concert, I can see everything and all the details too! But I also have to say that I would enjoy an André concert no matter where I was sitting. There's something about the music and the energy level at his concerts that just makes me feel good. I love watching everyone and listening to the music and all the jokes and comments, and singers and I feel whatever they do, is all part of this incredible experience. The economy has taken a toll on a lot of people, I'm sure, but as long as I possibly can, and as long as André comes close to my area, I'll be there. In all this life we live, it's worth a few inconveniences for a moment of beautiful music and fun. I do love seeing people enjoy André...it makes me proud to see them enjoy his music because we have so few beautiful moments in music any more...it's nice to have this one...I'll call it the "André experience".

I did see a film clip of KD Lang singing it but I don't know who had it originally. Lots of talk about cats this morning. (or is it night where most of you are - I think you're all still living in Australia's yesterday, wierd isn't it)Anyway I have a 16 year old Himalayan cat who scared me to death this morning. She jumped up on the bed for the usual morning greetings and immediately let out this agonising howling noise and just lay on her side. I thought she was going to die. Anyway, she just lay there while my husband and I and the dog all panicked and then just came good. She's limping a bit, but that's not unusual. I listened to the new song and I suppose that I would have to listen a few times to really get any feelings about it. As Marlene said the closeups on the big screens reveal all. When I saw Andre in Sydney he and the JSO raced for the stage during a huge storm. Soon after reaching the sanctuary of the set the camera had him full face on the big screen and he gave a huge involuntary sneeze - and didn't have a hanky of course. I felt so embarrassed for him and thought, "my gosh, he's human!" Well, he handled it so well. He saw he was on the screen and made a big thing of exagerating the difficulty he was having, pretended to be wiping his nose with his hand then wiping it on his clothes etc. It became a really funny moment and a great start. "Oh I am sorry," he said "it must be the rain." If he didn't already hold the strings to every heart in the audience before he certainly did then. Mind you, I thought whoever was manning the camera was mean to leave it on him when he had such an awkward moment.

Moderator Jeanine Ann wrote: Isn't it something Jill how we look at Andre as someone who seems above all the ordinary things and I mean little things like the sneeze or when he had a cold in Reading last year and was constantly stopping his runny nose. We have him so far up on this pedestal (speaking for myself) and we seem surprised when we see he is just like all of us. But we don't see him in his everyday life and the only time we really can see him for a long period of time is when he is up on this pedestal that we have put him on and then once again we are surprised when he does something human. But that is the time I love, when I can see him doing what he does best - reaching out to our hearts and he doesn't have to reach very far because we already have reached out to him the moment he walks down the aisle and reaches that stage. That is the magic of Andre and I love these magical moments whether they are the same songs or new songs. I don't think of "jokes", I think this is more chatter and he need to keep this connection with the people. I saw one DVD where it was just one song after another and not one comment and it seemed so strange. You were waiting for him to say something and he didn't. I forget which one it is. I know it was arranged that way but I missed the little chatter in between songs. I think of someone making Jokes like you read in a joke book. That is different. Hi everyone. This is not an official report but wanted to make some comments about Manchester because probably won't be able to do more for a few days. Some things were quite funny. Disappointed in the number of people in the audience. I think I am getting the sense that a lot of the concerts have not been particularly well attended. The whole back section was empty. It must be discouraging for the orchestra to see that. Wonder if it's because of the prices? It was not a particularly responsive audience. Of course some were extremely enthusiastic but ....
Andre was working hard to encourage people to applaud. I don't think it was necessarily that people didn't like it, but that it was an older, more quiet crowd. They applauded politely. The sound was not great and many many people noticed it. It was when Andre talked mostly. Perhaps because the hall was not well-filled? I don't know but it was difficult at first to hear him correctly. Orchestra noticed it also -- they kept looking into the audience and squinting, like what's going on. But, we got used to it. The people around us also had been to Manchester many times and this was the first time they had noticed anything with the sound. There was a lot of talking amongst the orchestra members throughout the performance. They were carrying on conversations with each other throughout the concert. Don't know what that was about. Linda was not there.
There was some cute interaction with a lady from Contoocook, NH and Andre. Driving home today we actually went to Contoocook and it's a lovely town. So she put her town on the map. She was in the front row; she said "take me away," and Andre said, "after the concert." Then they got into a conversation about Contoocook. (home of the longest covered railroad bridge in the world -- and it's not very long at all)! Carla was great as usual. Personally I wasn't happy that they did My Fair Lady because I associate that so much with Suzan and it just wasn't the same for me. Other people probably don't feel that way. There was an abundance of balloons, knee high in the aisles. Dan and Alice Lycan were there.
I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU, THE CAMERAMAN, SHOULD KNOW BETTER. SURE, THEY ARE ARTIST, BUT THEY ARE ALSO HUMAN. THEY DO GET TIRED LIKE WE DO, THEY DO HAVE BAD DAYS LIKE WE DO, THEY NEED SURGERY SOMETIMES, LIKE WE DO. WHAT DO WE EXPECT? ISN'T THE GREAT MUSIC, THE LOVELY EVENING WITH THEM, AND ALL WHAT THEY DO HAVE TO ENDURE, TO GET TO FROM CITY TO CITY, DID ANYONE THOUGHT ABOUT IT. WE SHOULD BE THANKFUL, THAT HE STILL MAKE IT AN INPORTANT JOUNEY, TO COME AND ENTERTAIN US FROM FAR AWAY! SURE, WE HEAR REPEATS, SO WHAT? OTHER MUSICIANS DO THE SAME CONCERTS OVER AND OVER. WHY SHOULD WE HAVE ANY BAD OPINION OF THEM? IF ANYONE, HAS A HANGUP ABOUT THIS, I FEEL, NEVER SHOULD GO TO HIS CONCERTS AGAIN! INSTEAD OF NEGATIVE CRITICISM, JUST STAY AWAY, LET OTHER NEWCOMERS HAVE YOUR SEAT, I AM SURE, THEY WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME. I DO KNOW, ALL HIS MUSIC, I DO HAVE THEM ALL, BUT ALL CONCERTS HAS A DIFFERENT ATMOSPHERE, IT IS UP TO US TO ENJOY IT. SURE, HE IS NOT 25, WHEN HE HAD MORE HAIR, I WOULD RATHER SEE HIS OWN HAIR, THAN SOME TOUPEE! HE IS AGING ALSO, UNFORTUNATELY.

When I made my JSO in mini, the stage, my cat Poubelle jumped into the stage and made a hole in the middle of the gator board, but I still had to do the 3 pedestals and so I could cover it up. She liked to jump on the finished Orchestra with all the dolls in it and the dolls tumbled over and I had to fix it again, now it is out of reach for the little devil.
I have now a 2O year old cat Moise that has to get twice a week water under the skin, do it myself, but I do not like it, also he gets in the morning a pill for his slow working kidneys and one for the thyroid gland and one in the evening. Day after day the kitty would have nothing to do with anyone but him, she must have known he didn't like cats so she better get on his good side. . but little by little that cat won him over. When his wife died it was just him & the cat & you should see how he spoils that kitty. she gets more birthday & Christmas presents than a kid. He even bakes her a special birthday cake. Her name is Sam, and she is about 15 yrs old now. I think he will come unglued when that cat dies. We always has a hard time giving our one cat her pills so when we went to the vet we asked the nurse to do it, she put the pill in the mouth but the cat wouldn't swallow til all of a sudden one of the dogs gave a big bark & then Miss Kitty went GULP and the pill was down.

Yes, Shirley, Cleveland was a fighter for animals, he also said to a Catholic priest once at a party (Catholic church does not believe animals go to heaven) that he is glad he is not Catholic, because he will see his Polar bear again, when he dies. Your friend was cured by his cat, I also fear for his well being when that cat dies.

On the day my friend died Max was nowhere to be found. The next day my friend's son found Max, up by the highway, he had been hit by a car & lay dead by the side of the road.Is that ironic or what? We all grieved almost as much for Max as for my friend but we all decided that Max was just going to be with his mama.

Trees are the kindest things I know, They do no harm, they simply grow And spread a shade for sleepy cows, And gather birds among their bows.
They give us fruit in leaves above, And wood to make our houses of, And leaves to burn on Halloween And in the Spring new buds of green.
They are first when day's begun To tough the beams of morning sun, They are the last to hold the light When evening changes into night.
And when a moon floats on the sky They hum a drowsy lullaby Of sleepy children long ago... Trees are the kindest things I know.

You just made me cry, Shirley, what a sad real live story, Max was now with his mama, some animals sit on the grave of their owners or do stop eating. And our church says animals have no soul???? I do the same as you mourn my friends pets when they die, but they give us so much love and enjoyment while they are with us. I know the days from my Moise are numbered and I do not want to think about the day he leaves us, but I am so grateful that I found him one day, he was abandoned by students across the street from my son´s apartment and he had nothing to eat for a long time. I nursed him back to health and he thanked us l8 years already for that, he was 2 years old when I rescued him.
Made me cry too. I cannot believe God would create such loving and beautiful creatures, only to not have them in Heaven. There are Angels on Horses, so surely there are our beloved pets? Guess we shall see.
To this day I cry over many of my animals. I cannot touch Dewey's blanket or Mike's sweater. I miss Hannah Blacklab so much, and Muffin with her bright orange fur. Now I have Monster & Timmi the Timid. Both loving in their own ways, both loved.
I will never be without an animal in my life. Wouldn't be worth getting up without them.

Jeanine Ann and everyone, the pedestal is SOOO much higher. I will probally babble, but I am gonna tell it as it comes out. Sanne has a silver-ie "new" beautiful dress. Andre is gorgeous up close and personal. We arrived at the front doors a little before on hour before 7PM, doors already open. I got up close to Andre's three buss'es. Other buses were dropping smiling 'seniors' off, walkers, canes, wheel chairs, you name it; half of them were runnung with their walking aids in their hands. It was a happy atmosphere dispite drizzle, crowds, lines, etc. Everyone was talking with everyone like we all came together to see the Maestro. Amazing, how these wonderful happy barly able to walk senior-ettes, skipped up the stairs to get to their seats. Our section was hardly filled - as well as the entire arena. Shame, Shame Syracuse. We tried to upgrade tickets that morning and were told the Concert was sold out - no extra tickets. LESS than half filled, TOO many sections had NO ONE in them, only third of the floor level had seats, which were filled. I was so embarrased for Andre & JSO, as they stood in the back awaiting to march up front; so obvious this was NOT a good turn out. BUT Andre & JSO conducted themselves as if the place was overflowing and put on the BEST CONCERT. As you all know, nothing new, but I did not care - it was NEW to me, because I had never seen this in person. Excuse me, HELL no, I will follow this man to the ends of the earth, no matter the material. I can say I was there.....and I WOULD GO again and again and again and again. THIS IS WHAT I KNOW. CARLA'S AGREEMENT WITH THE JSO EXPIRED, SO SHE IS NOW, WITH PLATIN-SCALA.COM. IT IS IN GERMANY. THIS SEASON, SHE IS WITH THE JSO AGAIN ON THE AMERICAN TOUR. I DO NOT KNOW THE LADY'S NAME EITHER. SUSAN AND PIERRE BROKE UP, HE MARRIED ANOTHER YOUNG LADY OCT. 2008. SUSAN'S LAST CONCERT WITH THE JSO WAS IN AUSTRALIA, SHE IS WITH PLATIN-SCALA.COM ALSO. Ironic about cats & violins, or should say cats & music. I have just watched a dvd, part of it involves a cat. A friend loaned it to me, she says it's an older one but I've never heard of it before. It's more of a cartoon type, kind of on the order of Disney's Fantasia. Strange name, "Allergo Non Troppo". Anyway my friend knows I like cats and music. This has several pieces in it but the one I really like of course is the cat section, plus it's done to the beautiful Sebelius "valse triste".This part of the cartoon is done beautifully & it's touching to watch, I almost teared up a bit. The story part is about this cat who wanders through the bombed out ruins of a house he once lived in, he is remembering the people & things that happened there in earlier happy times. The music, which is kind of sad anyway, in fact I think they call it the sad waltz. But it is so beautiful & so fitting for this piece of the movie. There are about 5 or 6 different cartoons but this one is my favorite. BTW, has Andre ever done this waltz? The name sounds familiar, but I can't find it on anything I have.

She came to my door and I let her stay for the night, then I told the guy that it is against the law to abandon animals like that, he said I could take her, I had already 2 and Vic did not want anymore, but we took her because he moved and would have thrown her outside again. 4 weeks after he had left our neighborhood, he came back and Princesse was with us in the garden. He called her Juliette and she spat like a rocket in the house, she did not want to get near him. I told him she is Princesse now. She was only 1 1/2 years old and we had her until she was 14 and died of brain cancer, she had a good life and we took in 2 more after her.

Inge, most of the cats we've had over the years have been rescue kitties. Our present cat, Jazz, is one. After the death of my Miss Kitty, I swore I'd never have another, but later on I missed a kitty in my life so I thought I will look for another sometime, a fluffy one & I will name her Jasmine. I had in my mind exactly what I wanted. One day a friend told me about this kitty at the pet shop that has Humane Society animals. The next day we went out to take a look, this was a black & white, short hair. She wasn't exactly what I had in mind but as I read her story I knew I had to rescue her. She also had been caged for about 6 months & if she wasn't adopted that day she would be "put down". Well that really did it for me.Couldn't let that happen, this kitty was too lovey, she talked to me from the first & leaned against the cage to be petted. she won my heart. We took her home that day, she was supposed to have been spayed but we found out that was not true so we had that little problem fixed soon after. We changed her name to Jazz because she was full of life. Once she was out of that cage she made up for lost time! Anyway we have not regretted getting her, although she is not the laid back little Jasmine I had in mind, she's added so much pleasure to our lives. BTW, the name on her cage had been "kissy" because she likes to kiss But I like Jazz better, fits her to a T. She's a razmataz JAZZ.

I will bet every day she had with you, she was thankful. And how smart to run from that horrid man after she found her forever home...no way was she going back. ha.
My Timmi was under my work building when I heard this most pitiful sweet high pitched cry...I tell you I could hear what it said.. Help Me, I'm Scared. I knew the cat was young, very young. The opening to the building is only about 4 inches high. I put water and food out at lunch, and only saw a bit of a puff of fur. Later before I went home, I saw a tiny kitten, too young to be without a mama .. maybe 4 weeks. He ran from me, being very timid and afraid.
I feed him over a period of weeks, I finally put food in a capture cage. He was still too little to trip the trap. He could enter the cage, eat .. then run under the building again. I would go to work on weekends and feed him.
One day it was lightly raining. I almost stayed home, as I work out of town. But I drove to work, and there he was.. in the trap. I had finally fattened him up. I had wrapped beach towels around the trap and secured heavy trash bags over it with bungee cord. He was dry and snuggled up warm.
When I brought him home and pour the little thing out of the trap, he shook like he was going to have a heart attack. He never raised a paw or tried to bite. I held him against me and told him he did not have to be afraid, he had found a good home. For the longest time he slept under the bed in the spare room. I think that low ceiling while being outside, stayed with him.
Timmi's most favorite thing is to chase big sister Monster. She plays for a bit, then hisses and says enough. If he persists, she knocks him over and walks away in triumph, but Monster enjoys Timmi and cleans him like he is her baby.
Naughty Cats! Here I was coming home with a new Cat Cave...and found they had played with the paper towels ... paper pieces all over the floor!!

What a nice story. All of my cats have been strays. I wouldn't have it any other way. When I have to have a cat put to sleep, I console myself with the thought that now another deserving kitty can come to find a home. I have three now and will probably keep it at that number. 15 yrs, 5 yrs, and 11 mos. The 11 month old still is not too popular with the other two. I still haven't had a real "lap cat." They like to be petted but not held (Benny sometimes when I'm reading will sit on my lap). Joey is a handful. I forgot how active kittens are.

Shirley and Sally, thanks heaven for people like us who save the cats that others trow away, it is heart warming to read all your stories, each one of mine had a different one. Gorby I found after Xmas in the snow crying like a baby in front of his former home. The apartment was empty, the people moved Oct. 1st the landlord told me and left the cat behind. I took him he was about 1 1/2 to 2 years old, full of mites, infections and not fixed and fleas. I had it all done in January and he had to stay in a room for 3 weeks because we did not want the other 3 cats catch what he had and we cured him, he was so happy when he was finally left out of his solitary confinement, but the other cats had pawed him under the door and he knew he was not alone. He fit right in and was happy for the food and the warm place, he died last year of a tumor under his tongue, we had him 12 years, I miss every one of them. I am happy to hear there are people who rescue cats. Shirley I always wanted a pure bread cat, but ended always with one that needed help and I never regretted it. Gorby was a lap cat and so is Moise, the girls did not like it, Lotzi liked it until he was fixed then he just liked his baskets, our first cat was a kitten from a stray and he was wild, we had to tame him, but he was also a lap cat, died of cancer with only 11. Now we still have a 12 year old Poubelle, she likes to be brushed, but not taken on the arm, but we love her and she has other good sides.

Shirley, I got my first dog with 12, as long as I lived at home I had only dogs, my mother did not want cats, I had them at my grandmother´s place, she let me keep always one. I , too, love every animal, but cats are just suitable for my character, because I love their independence. They are also the ones that are mostly tossed out or even get lost or do not like their owners and walk away. People do not get them fixed and they multiply and then ???????? Like Bob Barker always said: "Get your pets neutered" I wished people would do that instead of tossing them out.

Hi there Mirusia,
Thank You so much for visiting the website, your message is much appreciated. Please feel free to drop by from time to time, we would love to hear from you.
Everyone here is so looking forward to the upcoming tour.
You are not missing anything by not being in Brisbane today, we have a large "low" sitting off the coast creating huge sea's and the wind would "blow the dog off the chain". So pleased I am not flying anywhere today. Certainly not a day for sailing on the bay. ha ha.
Cheers to you.

Hello Mirusia! Thank you so much for visiting us and saying something! It's a wonderful surprise and very appreciated.
I'm happy that you had a great trip to Tokyo and a very Happy Birthday!
Can't wait to see you again when our concerts start. I'm on the west coast of America, so it will be in June, and it won't be soon enough.
I'm anxious already!
Aren't Dads great? And the memories they give us, even better. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Marlene's Dad.
One day I glanced at my piano, and saw my Father & Me sitting there playing a duet. Clear as day. I was transported back in time to the house we grew up in....I could see and hear it.
Thank you Sally!
You are so right...Dad's ARE Great!
I go over in my mind all the memories I have of my dad, and I can remember so many of them.
I have been transported back in time many times. Those special times you had with your father at the piano will always be there. Nice memories.
My dad was a real music lover too. He
loved to hear me practice my pieces on the piano. Lots of good memories.
Hope the rest of the down under fans in New Zealand will also be able see Live in Australia on the Big Screen + get to meet Andre in person

New message from André on "The Daily Rieu" page.
Hello everyone
I don't know if I miss something, but knows anyone what happends with Ronald (Percussion) and Boris (violin)? I didn't see then since the Australia Tour Last year.
Adriana
Hello Adriana,
I just wrote to you on MySpace and now I see you here. I don't know who you mean by the names, I would have to see the faces. I am sure someone here will be able to answer your question.
Don't give up on your dream! Hugs to you
Hi Jeanine Ann
Ronald is the hansome man who used to play the drummers with Marcel Falize. Maybe he was replaced by Glen Falize. And Boris is a bit older violonist who used to seat near Cord. Maybe you remember, there are only Luca, Vincenzo, Cord, Frank and Boris who plays violin. I think one of the italians isn't there anymore as well. I don't know if I helped you or made more complicated.
And about my dream, I won't give up.
It's really hard to see and hear about the experiences from other fans, knowing that my chances to live the same are very small.
But give up, never! Faith, faith...
Hugs
Adriana
I don't know if they are temporarily unavailable or not. I think sometimes others fill in or are added as needed.
I thought Boris Goldenblank was a regular though, but I'm not remembering Ronald.
But then I still have trouble remembering what face goes with what name!
They are all such a busy bunch that they may sometimes miss a concert or two, for various reasons.
I would like to see Andre update the orchestra member's names.
All you New Yorkers - has anyone seen the big ad of André's in the N.Y. Times? I have not seen it but if anyone has it and you would like to share it, please scan and email it to either Sally or me and we will put it on the blog. Thanks much.
I remember Ronald because I made him in my Miniature Orchestra, but I have not seen him for a long time on the JSO, perhaps he left???
Marlene & I met Ronald in Seattle last year. He was very nice and spoke good English. He was taking a walk prior to the concert. I have seen him with the JSO until recently.
*I think Andre is going to keep you busy Inge. Once you have all the JSO, he changes the orchestra.
Today was your president in my home town Baden-Baden and in Strasbourg, only 4O km away, we used to go there for lunch or dinner.
I am just back to normal again, after the weekend of Miniature-Mania, I spent more money than for André, haaaaaaaaaa, but I am on cloud nine or in 7th heaven!
Sally, my mini JSO stays as I made it, have still Renate in it, Jo, Monica Das, Jan Baruschke, Marc Doomen and a few others that have left, like the Harp player, that married Jo, I also have the red curtain like he started with and the 8 flower pots on the pedestals, reminds me of the good old days when he plaid more Strauss than Schmaltz, so I leave it that way.
Hey guys!!!!
Im here in orlando florida enjoying the hot sun. I though I would say hello and catch up on everything I missed. Only 2 weeks until Andre I cant wait. Hope every one is getting ready for his USA tour. Thanks guys

Happy Sunshine Jeff! I wish I was in Orlando too !
The tour is getting closer and closer. I can't wait to see what his program is like and who he brings.
We are finally warming up here in Oregon
and getting some sunshine, too.
Hey Jeff, enjoy your Florida sun.
Hey buddy, I am jealous. I love Florida. Have a wonderful time. We miss you.
Well now, that was special, to have her call your names like that. Did you get any pictures? She's a real class act for sure.
I'm still on a high from Mary's concert two weeks ago. Her beautiful voice and tunes keep going around in my head.
When we were talking to her afterwards and I told her we had friends going to see her the following week, she immediately asked what their names were and wrote it down, then asked who we were and said, "I'll see what I can do".
Hi everyone, has anyone seen Andre's ad in the New York Times? If you have this ad please share it with either Sally or myself and we will post it here. I have not seen it because we don't get the city edition. I am hoping someone will share this ad with us. It is always nice when fans share things so that everyone can enjoy everything that Andre does for us. Thanks much
That is really nice when a star takes time to mention fans and make them feel special. Mary Duff must be a class act.
I like smaller venues. To me the concerts are far better than large venues.
When Mary asked "where's Grayeme and Lynne ???" She told the whole bit. She started by saying she had met some friends of ours, Jill and John at Rooty Hill RSL a few concerts back etc etc.
It really was quite amazing.
I might just add also, that Jill had somehow managed to keep quiet about it all (must have been killing her) so it was a real "whammy" to us.
I was busting to tell you Grayeme but thought if she forgot you'd spend the concert waiting and not enjoying it.
I guess you and I and half Australia just sat through 'Neighbours'waiting for Andre's spectacular appearance that didn't happen. Guess we'll have to do it again tomorrow night and hopefully he'll show up. I can't imagine how they'd be able to write him into that script though.
I was thinking the exact same thing Jill whilst I was suffering it. How is Andre gonna get into this??. You know we are going to have to sit through another 25 minutes of it again tomorrow to get our 5 minutes of Andre. Sally and JA had better appreciate this.....more.....tears...
I am glad to read we were all in the same boat last night!! I can't believe Andre is mixed up in this show either - and sorry but I am not going to sit through all that again!! I will just wait and you can review his performance for me!! Thanks in advance!
I sure agree with you there, Sally. The smaller venues are definitely better.
Hi Grayeme and Jill
You two are so funny - My sentiments exactly too lol I have just sat thru neigbours and no Andre to think we have got to sit thru it again tomorrow night as well ugh!!!! lol The dogs are going to have to have an early walk again.
Oh Kirsten,!!! You wouldn't make the dogs watch it....would you.??
LOL you really had me in stitches just then Grayeme- no I won't let them suffer thru another episode they can enjoy a bone outside
Hey Kirsten, from memory you are in Perth aren't you??? You should get along and see Mary Duff's Concert. She is in Bunbury on April 17 and Perth Concert Hall on 18th. Marvellous night out, truly. I could get Jill to get Mary to say "Hello" to You !!! Lol
New message from André on "The Daily Rieu"!
Hi Grayeme, I am presuming that André was a no-show on Neighbours?? Why do they advertise that and then it is wrong? Usually soaps are pretty good at that not that I watch them except for one that I tape and then watch it when I have absolutely nothing to do late at night. I am a bit of a night owl but don't try to get me up before 9 in the morning - unless it is concert day!
Thats right Jeanine Ann, no show, as you can see by the above posts we are all eagerly waiting to suffer again. It is just gone 1.45 am here Tueday morning and i have not gone to bed as yet. With a bit of luck I could sleep all day and miss the episode tonight. I thought you fella's over there had some bad "soaps", but we've got you well and truly done with "Neighbours".
I think he will be on tonight(the 7th), according to the Neighbors, Episode #5662
"Classical musician Andre Rieu visits Ramsay Street, making a guest appearance in Rebecca's life. When Paul surprises her with a serenade from the master himself the two dance through the Street in a moment of shared bliss. Will Paul be able to seduce Rebecca back into his arms"? Poor Grayeme, to have to sit through all this again! Will it really be worth it? haha.. I can feel your tears, hahaha, soaps are not my thing anyway, don't think i could do it, not even for a quick glimpse of Andre. Poor Grayeme! hahaha
Thank You Shirley, your "sincerity" overwhelms me !!
Shirley that reminds me when André appeared in the "Traumschiff" (Dream boat) in Germany, the story was such a kitschy thing and André played himself and I did not find it worth the hole boring thing, I prefer him on the stage where he is at home , not in a soap, but it is all advertising.
Inge, I don't know about that one, but you are right about advertising.
A lot of stars make guest appearances on many shows, guess it's all part of show biz,
promote & advertise. How will we know them unless we see or hear them somewhere?
But, like you, I like the concert setting best. At that he really shines!
New message from André on Twitter on "The Daily Rieu" page.
The night we saw Andre's concert in Sydney the cast of Neighbours were in the audience and he seemed very friendly with them - maybe Andre likes soaps...
Why couldn't he have chosen to go on set at "Banana's in Pyjamas"?? He could have played while B1 and B2 danced and serenaded Amy and Lulu !!!
That would have been easier to watch !!!

A Happy and Safe Easter to all Fans and Friends.
A most happy and Blessed Easter to our Moderator Grayeme! Big hugs to you (Easter Bunny hugs)
HELLO GRAYEME! DO YOU HAVE EASTER MONDAY IN AUSTRALIA, JUST LIKE IN EUROPE? KATI
Yes we do Kati, 4 whole days.
HAPPY HAPPY EASTER
Wishing all Andre's fans on this site and everywhere a very Happy Easter filled with Blessings and Happiness. I hope we all get down on our knee's this Easter and Pray our hearts out for this wicked world. Just take a moment and give thoughts to all these poor girl's that are showing up deceased because of some SICK person, prying on our children. Amen. I just had to get that out in the open - lets remember the families, and pray for them this Easter.
A most Happy and Blessed Easter to all the fans and friends of André. May your day be sunny and full of joy and love. Big Hugs
I wish you all a very beautiful Easter.
May the joy of this Holiday be in everyone’s hearts.
There are a lot of problems in the world as we know,
but I hope that all people can take this moment to
be thankful and Happy with everything we DO have
in our lives. Spring is such a beautiful time of year
isn’t it? May Love, Happiness and Beautiful Music be
shared in all hearts.
What a beautiful message and a very cute
picture. Have a wonderful Easter, everyone.
What beautiful messages you're all posting. I don't know how to add a picture but my wish is for a wonderfully Happy Easter to all of you and Andre and JSO of course.
To all a very happy Easter and Passover!
Thank you to whoever added the picture to my Easter wishes.
Does anyone know if Andre is taking the Schonbrunn set to America?
No, the venues wouldn't hold it, and even if they did hold it, it takes days to set it up and take it down.
Jill, he might bring it in certain venues, I know it will not fit in the Bell Center in Montréal, but he has a smaller version of it, he had to make it for Leipzig, there he was not aloud to perform on the exposition terrain because of the wind danger, he had to squeeze a smaller one into the expo hall and the public was very mad about that because some lost their good seats and all were very much squeezed together, perhaps he brings that one?????? In a few days I will see it!
I would be very surprised if the Schonbrunn Castle sets ever see the light of day again. The logistics and expense of moving them around is huge.
Next time Andre does a "Just For You", I think we will see them stored down the backyard somewhere.
HAPPY EASTER, GRAYEME!
I WOULD BE VERY SURPRISED, IF THE SET WOULD SIT IDLE!?
Lucky you Inge. I wish it was only a few days for us too. Whatever he has planned I'm sure it will be spectacular.
POOR SALLY - GET BETTER SOON, a cold is a such a miserable thing. Did you know that's one of the good things about getting older - you get less of them.
Hi Inge, I hope you will tell me everything - what he plays, how long is his hair (I like it long), etc, etc, etc. I will see him on the 27th but I cannot wait that long : )
Sally get well soon. Colds make you feel really crummy. You know the drill - lots of fluids, chicken soup and lots of Andre music. : )
We will see him on the 21st!! I must check to see if my sister made hotel reservations. I'll bet she forgot. I got the tickets and she was supposed to get the hotel. She's away this weekend. Last time we went to Manchester she left it until late and we had to stay outside of Manchester but it was a nice hotel. Manchester, unfortunately, is not a nice city, and the venue itself is in a lousy area. I saw Bela out walking around and felt bad because it's probably the worst area of the city. I said to him that I was sorry that it was not a nice place to walk but he said he just likes to get out and look around no matter where he is. But it's probably not the only area they go to where the venue is not in a nice area.
Andre and JSO,
I hope to be able to see you in concert one day. Thank you so much for sharing your gift and love of music with us. You are a blessing.
Remember the miracle of Easter and know that a lot can happen in 3 days. Celebrate the resurrected Lord.
I completely agree with you Shirley. Thank you for expressing kind Easter wishes.
Sally <~~~ Still has a bad bad cold.
Oh no Sally, I am so sorry to hear that
you have a bad cold.....there sure has been a lot of that going around. I can finally say that my bad cold has exited my body and I feel the best, full of mischief, got out doors finally where the "sun" was finally out and refreshing
breaths of air got me going like a mad hatter. I am sending you get well wishes
and hope you are feeling much better very soon. Ya know what they say?? You can't keep a "good woman" down and unhealthy for long. Take care of your self you hear......wishing you a very Happy Healthy Easter. Don't forget to go out and celebrate "DYNGUS DAY" on Monday ~ you'll find me kickin up my heels and celebrating. Don't forget the pussywillows. What great fun!!!!!
EASTER LOVE TO ALL FANS, FRIENDS, AND OF COURSE ANDRE, I'll be seeing "you" on the 20TH of this month. You won't be able to miss me ~ tried to color my hair
(big mistake) it came out like a shiny
new copper penny. Guess you can call me
RED for awhile. I have to find some one to fix the damage I've done. Lordy, wait till my kids see this disaster. Sorry I can't put a nice picture up for you, this PC belonged to Abe Lincoln....
What is Dyngus Day Judith? That's one I've never heard of.
Your hair sounds interesting? When we were 17 a friend asked me to help her dye her hair for the first time. The label on the bottle was a bit rubbed and I thought the directions said 'add 40 drops', so I did. Her hair turned the most vivid shade of violet you can imagine. No amount of washing would get it out, so to the hairdresser we went - it was meant to be 4 drops. Surprisingly enough she still speaks to me.
LIVE AND LEARN!?
Jill, that sounds absolutely funny to me
and I am glad you are still both friends
as I am now leaving for my trip, I will,
on my return home after Easter, give you
a brief history of the Polish Tradition,
of Dyngus Day. In the area where I live
it is a huge celebration of welcoming
Spring into the community after the 40 days of fasting, and now a time to have
celebrations, eat, lots and lots of polka dancing and fun, fun, fun. More later my friend Jill (by the way I have
a daughter named Jill). "CHEER'S TO ALL
FUNNY!
Oh Judith, I'm glad you are feeling so much better.Really I think the red hair might fit your personality, you know, like Spice Girl.
Take care of yourself, SAlly. Colds are NO FUN. I haven't had one for awhile (knock on wood).
Sally, wish you a speedy recovering from your cold, Jeanine Ann prescribed you good meds, haaaaaaaa!
Jeanine Ann, I will take the measuring tape and measure the length of André´s hair for you!!!!
Have all a super nice Easter and find many eggs and perhaps your favorite André CDs in your baskets!!!!!
~ The Legend of the Pussy Willow ~
Many springtimes ago, according to an old Polish
legend, tiny kittens had been chasing butterflies at
the river's edge and fell in. The mother cat, helpless to
save them, started crying. The willows at the river's
edge swept their long graceful branches into
the water - the kittens gripped on tightly to the
branches and were rescued.
Each springtime since, goes the legend, willow
branches sprout tiny fur-like buds where the
tiny kittens once clung.
Nice Legend, Shirley, got a Pussy Willow in a pot that I grew from a branch that sprouted roots, but I had to put it in a huge pot, because my garden is small and close to the towns sewer system and the willows have tiny hairlike roots that go for the water and they would block the tiny sift holes and I would have to pay, so every few years I re pot it and cut the roots and the branches more like a bonsai, but it has the Pussies on it this spring again. Love them, the first spring food for the bees.
I love Pussy Willows, aren't they the greatest?
I used to rub the little "paws" when I was a child and it made me so happy.
Shirley, thanks for the legend of this plant, I'd never heard it before.
Oh Sweet Shirley, this is RED, the Legend of the PussyWillow now makes more sense to me. When I was a wee tot, I would sit by her every Easter and she would tell me this story (I think), it was in the polish language, and I picked up as much as a youngster.
Happy Easter My Friend, and sending Beautiful Happy Easter Greetings
to all fans, friends, and Andre and all
the beautiful JSO. Watch out for the red head on the 20th bearing the Legend of PussyWillows, and carrying some into
the Concert, for as the Polish tradition
goes, on "DYNGUS DAY", you get to chase the boys with pussywillows sprinkled with water. A sign of Spring, Love in the air, and the young ladies chasing their young loves. WATCH OUT ANDRE, it may be a week late, but pussywillows hold up a L-O-N-G time. Oh what a beautiful thought to hold on to as I make my trip to the country-side. Sweet thoughts to everyone.
Shirley I love the story of the Pussy Willows, I always wondered about them and loved them all my life. Thank you for that.
Judith, I hope you will have a wonderful Easter with your family. Are you taking the Pussy Willows to the concert!! : ) I don't think we should do any chasing with them though.
I hope everyone of you has a most Blessed and Happy Easter with family, love, joy, peace and all the blessings of the Risen Lord. Big Hugs to all.
What a nice story. I haven't thought of pussy willows for a long time, but used to love them. It's nice to be reminded.
Hi Sally,♪♪♪
Thanks, for the beautiful card of jacquie L. with Easter wishes !!
We also wish you all a beautiful Easter period...

I wish you all a VERY HAPPY EASTER with lots of sunshine, unless you happen to live in California, ha, ha, ha !!
Take care,

Happy Easter! The cats are eating Easter grass from my nephew's Easter Bunny leavings. We all know what that means. Sunny but quite cold here. I remember as a child being scrubbed to death and dressed up in navy blue coat, gloves, hat, etc. and freezing to death on Easter Sunday. Enjoy your day.
I remember those special times too.About the cold days, we are having cold & wet today. And that Easter basket grass, oh how I hated that stuff. It got all over the house. One day our daughter took her basket outside & a lot of the grass got blown out, we tried to pick it all up but we surely missed a lot. One fall day as I was cleaning out our wren house, the birds nest had Easter grass in it. Sure was colorful.
Thank you Terezie, gorgeous!
I have a story for you from my husband. When he was about 9 years old he got a rabbit for Easter and their best friend's son got one also. They grew very fond of these bunnies but as they got older they wanted to use them for a meal (poor bunnies) but neither could stand to eat their own rabbit so they exchanged rabbits and ate each others. Easter Hugs to all
Forgot to mention that it was cold and very windy here but sunny and that is better than rain, although we are very dry here. We did get a good rain the other day and that helped. Hugs
Thank you Terezie, this is beautiful.
Thank you Terezie! This is beautiful. I love the eggs very much and always have. Such an art!
Enjoyed the live webcamera, I enjoyed see the old square.
New message from André on "The Daily Rieu" page!
Hallo Terezie, I bought myself an egg like that in Prague, they are so nice.
I might not be able to meet or see a concert of him but, him, his orchestra with all of his staff is great a he makes a different in music for young and old.

Hi,
I am looking for the lyrics of the Danube Waltz as performed in the Andre Rieu auf Schonbrunn DVD. My boys just love it and would like to sing along even thou we are Afrikaans speaking South-Africans.
We would appreciate very much as I could only found other versions on the internet.
BerindaAs far as I know, there are only two official versions of lyrics.
The Blue Danube Waltz, (Blue Danube Waltz)
As airy and light (airy and light)
As swallows in flight (swallows in flight).
So rhythmic for two (rhythmic for two),
For sweet lissome you (your partner too),
And awesome and fullsome love blossoms
As twosomes glide along.
|:Glide, slide, whirl and twirl,
Bouyant as boys and girls.
Sparkle, gleam 'n dream, glow and glitter!
Show off your ever dazzling, stunning repertoire,
Radiant as comets blazing from afar.
|:Come, step along with me,
Just as pretty as you please—
Pleasing as a gentle breeze
Whispering softly through the leaves
Of fabled Vienna Woods trees.
Come aboard this pleasure boat now with me,
Let's go upstream to Salzburg and see
Those belovèd hills with the sound of music alive,
So alive to every enraptured ear and eye.
Come, step along with me,
Just as pretty as you please—
Pleasing as a gentle breeze
Fluttering the Vienna Woods'
Venerated fall leaves.
Stand with me now where
The gates of Vienna once stood,
And its heroic defenders
Mercilous foes steadfastly withstood
Who treacherously slaughtered all those
Who dared their barbaric jihad oppose.
Halt! Back off! Your ungodly tyranny ends here!
Oh, glorious Vienna, we
Do so gratefully cherish thee,
For, thanks to thee, we
And our dear children are free—
To sing, to dance, and to think for ourselves,
Like flowers to thrive and flourish,
Vivace
By the great blue Danube nourished,
Never to wilt and die when like pure gold,
God's gift to us of freedom is burnished
And hearts and minds never grow too old
|:Unceasingly and forever and ever
To treasure all that's good to behold.
Forever and ever und auf immer. Amen.

Beautiful! Tres Bon!
My friend Raie Leed turms 90 on 15th April. When Raie retired, she took up painting and became an accomplished artist. Some years later folowing an accident, she became less active, and now walks with a walking frame.
Raie developed Macular Degeneration, and is now legally blind. She began to feel useless and depressed. A friend introduced her to Andre and his orchestra on a DVD. Although unable to see clearly, each evening we take it in turns to sit and have a glass of wine and enjoy the beautiful music and lovely rapport between Andre and his orchestra. We describe the scenery, and activities to her.
12 months ago, Raie started attending the Vision Australia Day Centre for the vision impaired.Volunteers taught her to paint silk scarves and do pottery. Raie did so well she entered a scarf in the Royal Agricultural Show in Melbourne. She not only won first prize in her section, but the overall prize for visually impaired.
I cannot tell you the boost Andre's music has given her. Gone is the depression, and enjoymenthas entered her home once more.Thank you so much, Andre, and your team!
Heather, your friend is an amazing woman. She's an inspiration for all. What a delight it must be to sit & enjoy the music together, not to mention all the life stories she must have. I hope she has a wonderful birthday.
Hi Berinda,

Für Berinda...
An der schönen blauen Donau
Melodie - Johann Strauß II, 1867 (1825-1899)
Franz von Gernerth
Donau so blau,
Durch Tal und Au
Wogst ruhig du dahin,
Dich grüßt unser Wien,
Dein silbernes Band
Knüpft Land an Land,
Und fröhliche Herzen schlagen
An deinem schönen Strand.
Weit vom Schwarzwald her
Eilst du hin zum Meer,
Spendest Segen
Allerwegen
Ostwärts geht dein Lauf,
Nimmst viel Brüder auf:
Bild der Einigkeit
Für alle Zeit.
Alte Burgen seh'n
Nieder von den Höh'n,
Grüßen gerne
Dich von ferne
Und der Berge Kranz,
Hell vom Morgenglanz
Spiegelt sich in deiner Wellen Tanz.
Die Nixen auf dem Grund,
Die geben's flüsternd kund
Was alles du erschaut,
Seitdem über dir der Himmel blaut.
Drum schon in alter Zeit
Ward dir manch' Lied geweiht,
An seinen Ufern wächst herrlicher Wein,
Bist uns'rer Herzen Band;
Junges Blut, frischer Mut,
O wie glücklich macht,
Dem vereint ihr lacht!
Lieb und Lust schwellt die Brust,
Hat das Größte in der Welt vollbracht.
Nun singst ein fröhliches seliges Lied,
Das wie Jauchzen die Lüfte durchzieht,
Von den Herzen laut wiederklingt
Und ein festes Band um uns schlingt.
Frei und treu in Lied und Tat,
Bringt ein Hoch der Wienerstadt,
Die aufs Neu' erstand voller Pracht
Und die Herzen erobert mit Macht.
Und zum Schluß bringt noch einen Gruß
Uns'rer lieben Donau, dem herrlichen Fluß!
Was der Tag uns auch bringen mag
Treu und Einigkeit
Soll uns schützen zu jeglicher Zeit
Ja Treu und Einigkeit
Met vriendelijke groeten,
Mit freundlichem Gruß,
Meilleurs salutations,
Best regards,
Benny,
English translation would be:
Danube so blue, so bright and blue,
through vale and field you flow so calm,
our Vienna greets you, you silver stream
through all the lands you merry the heart
with your beautiful shores.
Far from the Black Forest
you hurry to the sea
giving your blessing to everything.
Eastward you flow,
welcoming your brothers,
A picture of peace for all time!
Old castles looking down from high,
greet you smiling from their steep
and craggy hilltops,
and the mountains' vistas
mirror in your dancing waves.
The mermaids from the riverbed,
whispering as you flow by,
are heard by everything
under the blue sky above.
The noise of your passing
is a song from old times
and with the brightest sounds
your song leads you ever on.
Stop your tides at Vienna,
it loves you so much!
Whenever you might look
you will find nowhere like Vienna!
Here pours a full chest
the charms of happy wishes,
and heartfelt German wishes
are flown away on your waters.
I love it. I like all the versions. This song, no matter the language ... is absoultely BEAUTIFUL
Thank You Benny.
Isn't it amazing that even if one does not speak the language, we can still understand the song and it's beauty?
Thank you for the english translation of
The Blue Danube, Moderator Prudence, and
my Dear friend Jeanine Ann, I am not nor
will I be bringing Pussywillows next week Monday to the Concert, was just having another silly moment with my new hair shade. For my friend JILL and any one interested in this/today's DYNGUS DAY CELEBRATION explanation, I will give you a local web site that has a really great look into the History, etc.
go to: DYNGUSDAYBUFFALO.COM. Thank you to those who showed interest. I think it is great when 'we' show interest in our fan nationality or history. I am never too old to learn; I just refuse to grow up......HAPPY DYNGUS DAY to 'all'.
Judith, I like your contagious attitude.None of us should get too old to learn.
Someone once said "old age is mandatory, growing up is optional". I like that.
You will always be the age of your heart & that, my dear, means you'll be forever young.
Just keep on shining.
Thank you Judith. We have many people here of Polish ancestry but I don't think they celebrate Dyngus Day. It sounds like fun though.
Lucky you having the concert next week. Have a great night.
She was made fun of as a child, the target of Bullies because of her disabilities. Before going onstage she admitted she lives alone with her cat Pebbles and has never been kissed. The audience laughed at her. Then Susan Boyle began to sing…….
Susan BoyleOh Prudence that was fantastic! I just could not believe it. I love that song (I have it by Michael Crawford) anyway and that was unbelievable. I had goosebumps. Good for her!
Bless her heart. It shows us we might find Diamonds in the Rough if only we look. Keep Singing Susan.
Well, I think she has a great personality as well as an amazing voice. I don't know why she was made fun of in the first place. I'd love to see her in her own show in a cabaret style performance. I think she'd be so much fun.
I played the video last night of Susan Boyle. I was extremely pleased that she was accepted and that people were so amazed at her incredible voice. Don't you just love it when someone who's had such a time growing up, and then overcomes all disabilities and hard times as Susan Boyle has, and finally gets to show people how beautiful a person she really is.
If Susan Boyle does actually come out with a cd as a result of this, I'll be first in line to buy it.
This video affected more than any I have seen in a long time. I hope that no matter where she places, there will be a kind, honest person to advise her.
SHE WAS ON OUR NATIONAL NEWS YESTERDAY, HAVE A BEAUTIFUL VOICE, I THINK, SHE WILL WIN THE COMPETITION.
She is amazing. What an incredible voice.
****Just heard Susan Boyle will be on The Early Show tomorrow am****
I find it ironic that she chose this particular song to sing. Somehow it is her song.
With what she has gone through and to not hold hate & resentment inside, but instead
chose to keep this beauty & to share it with those who choose to listen.
We shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, who knows what treasures await us inside.
This is an innocent soul, God bless you Susan.
I agree Shirley. Clyde and I were watching the video and I said "you cannot judge a book by its cover" and in this case that is so true. She is so refreshing and it was a joy to listen to her. Hugs
What a fantastic voice. I've watched the video several times. She was a joy. To those who know their Bibles I would quote "the stone the builders rejected has become the Cornerstone of the arch (Psalm 118 v. 22.) She is a classic example of this, and an inspiration to all who are trying to "win through" despite the odds. Keep singing Susan and may God bless your future and the pleasure you will bring!
"AMEN" to the quote. What a beautiful seed to absorb and spread, grow, and may her voice shine above as she continues to share her "gifted voice". What a treasure ~ refreshing ~ humble, and may I repeat what kas been said already, BUT is soo true ~ you "never judge a book by it's cover", look at the purity held inside.
I cross my fingers that Susan Boyle wins that competition, just like Paul Potts. I loved most of all, the lights going on in the 3 judges!
See André in a traffic jam!!!! Yeaaaaa he is on his way. Check "The Daily Rieu"
Word gets around the world so quickly these days. I went to lunch with friends today and started telling them about Susan but they already knew all about her. Apparently she's been on our morning shows here the last couple of days too.
I'm so thrilled for her that all this is happening. It was so pleasing to see Paul Potts win last year.
The final of Australia's Got Talent was on this week. There were 8 amazing final acts, just fantastic. I wouldn't know who would be the best if I had to pick - probably the guy who plays beautiful music on a saw.
Dear fans - would you please post which concert(s) you will be seeing this year. We would love to have your report and photos for all the fans to see. Just give your name and the concert and we will contact you to see if you would be interested in sharing your thoughts on your concert. Thanks much.
Manchester, Next Tuesday
Thank you Virginia. I hope you have a fantastic time and I know I don't need to hope that - it automatically happens!! Will look forward to your concert review and photos if you take them.
I know Jeff is going to the same concerts so we look forward to hearing from Jeff also.
Martha is going to Baltimore so we look forward to hearing from her! I go the 27th and I have those butterflies already! What an exciting time for everyone. I love sharing what I have witnessed because it is like a little gift I give to all who cannot make a concert this year. That is why I take so many photos so all can see how Andre and the JSO look (not that they change much) at that moment. The greatest fun is in sharing. Hugs
WE HAVE SEEN HIM SHOPPING FOR NEW MATERIAL FOR THE LADIES!? IT DOES AMAZES ME, THE WAY HE IS THINKING OF ALL THE THINGS AROUND HIM, AND FOR THE ORCHESTRA AND THE FANS, HOW ONE PERSON CAN DO SO MUCH. I DO HAVE TO APPRAISE HIS SON PIERRE AND ALL HIS CREW ALSO, ALL HAVE TO THINK THE WAY HE THINKS. I AM SURE ALL OF YOU WILL ENJOY THE CONCERT, IT WILL BE UNBELIEVABLE!! WE JUST A LITTLE JELAOUS, THAT OURS IS A LITTLE FURTHER AWAY YET, BUT IT IS COMING!!

It's so exciting again waiting in anticipation of the concerts to start again. Can't wait for all those reports!
I am curious to know what songs he will be playing and what performers will be
coming with him. I thought I saw once that Carla will be on this tour, but Carmen won't be.
Hi Marlene,
Just a thought. It seems like it would be fun for fans going the Portland, Oregon concert to get together again before the concert like we did last year. It was great to meet "fellow" André fans. What do you think?
I'm all for that Marilyn. Not sure if you got my email about Portland, I'll be staying with Vernice this time 'round.
Have you an idea of where to a dinner? Maybe we should get a group email together? Marlene, what'cha think?
(I had to modify this comment, I had written upside-down backwards!)
Hi Sally,
I didn't have anyplace specific in mind since I am not so familiar with Portland anymore. It was more of a general idea. I did live there for a few years in the 1960s. It wasn't so big then, but I have always liked the city.
April 17....Canada....Anyone in Toronto (at the concert) get any good closeup photos that you would like to share ???
New Message from André on Twitter - after the concert - with photo.
Go to The Daily Rieu page!!
When he says "see you next year" does that mean he will be back next year? hope so, then maybe I can get to a concert somewhere.
Hi Shirley, I am taking his statement as a YES for next year!!!!! Hope too you will get to a concert next year - make it happen!! Hugs
Hi Shirley, I am going balistic already,
and I have not left home to get to the Concert. I am saving money already for next year. Where about's in the US are you?, it would be great to get together with some of the fans on this site, and perhaps gather together at a particular
Concert. I am just forming these thoughts in my head to keep from bouncing off the walls. But, perhaps we should ask Jeanine Ann, if these meeting
together for a concert ever work out. I take it Jeanine Ann, you are our expert.
I forgot to ask JA, exactly what can you
bring on your person to the concert????
Also, I am having my daughter the photo pro bring her fancy state of the art camera along. Told her that her life is
in my hands that day, I want matte finished 8x10, 15x20, etc. Please email me and give me instructions on how I can have her forward to you, so we all can enjoy. She also has instructed me, she does not waltz; she say's your on your own mom. Yipp-eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I will be thinking of all my friends, taking it all in to share.
Hey Judith, don't go ballistic until after the concert, then let it all out. I am not an expert but I think it would be great to get together after a concert next year. All we need to do is decide which one which will be easy for all of us to get to. Shirley is in Mo., I am in Pa., and you are in N.Y.
I want to hear from you right away on Tuesday if you are able to get down from that cloud you will be on.
I will email instructions for sending the photos once you get them on your computer. Do you know what kind of camera your daughter has?
Don't forget to get to the stage at encore time so you can see him close but stay calm (encore time always follows Radesky Waltz) I am really a good one to say "stay calm" because my knees turn to jello but do your best : ) Most of all have a wonderful time as I know you will.
Big hugs to you.
I wish I was you today Judith. Can't wait to hear how it all goes.
Enjoy.
Judith, I am so happy for you. Can't wait to hear about your experience. You are going to have sooo much fun! I think it would be extra special if several of us could all get together sometime.Part of the fun of the concerts is meeting the other fans. It's like icing on the cake.
I'm not familiar with Twitter. What are the mechanics for getting to the Daily Rieu page. Thanks.
if you go twitter.com, sign up for twitter, just put in who you would like to follow, like andre, then you are on. easy.
Thanks, Piano. Since love piano music, I love your name.
TRY YOUR WINGS ON LINE AND YOU WILL ENJOY IT A LOT. THERE ARE SO MUCH TO LEARN.
Hi Marilyn, The Daily Rieu is a page right here on the blog. Just go to the recent entries page and click on The Daily Rieu. There you will find all the messages which Andre has posted on Twitter. I go to Twitter every day and pick up his messages and post them here. These messages go out to all his fans and anyone who is a member of Twitter can read his posts. I just put them here so that it would be easier for all the fans to read in one place. To join Twitter, just go to Twitter.com and sign up. Then you search for friends you would like to follow. All messages must be short, somewhere around 150 characters, I am not quite sure. Hope this helps. Hugs
KATI.......is snowbound, I think! Judging from the weather reports. She is sooo snowed in she can't even get outside long enough to make any snowballs

Finally "Concert time" has come around.
Too all American fans going to concerts in the coming weeks, "enjoy-enjoy-enjoy"
Goodmorning Jill, it's 3:33am Sunday. I am all hyped up and have the hee-bee-gee
bee's, as the time is getting shorter before I am actually in the same space as the great Maestro Andre. This Concert
was arranged so fast and took me totally by surprise; I really never had
hopes of seeing Andre in the flesh. I just kept thinking, maybe one day. I resigned myself to just say, maybe? if only my wish would come true. Thanks to Jeanine Ann, she kept my hopes alive and
my dream did come true. I wish "we" were
all going together ~ what a lovely sweet
thought, good friends together celebrating an awesome Concert together.
You'll all be in my thoughts, as I sit,
fidgit, pass out and just concentrate on
Andre - the man that makes this all possible. WOW-eeeeeeeeeeee
Judith, You just have the best time won't you and remember we want to hear it all, blow by blow as soon as you are home. Thinking oh so enviuosly of you.
Judith! What are you doing up at 3.33am?
Don't you dare pass out at the concert - you'll miss the show.
I got all hyper just reading about you being all excited!!
What is the biggest Queue you have ever been in ???
I just read that at a UNICEF function in Belgium there were....756 people counted in a queue to the toilet...!!!
Good "dancing on the spot" practice !!!
I don't think we have a queue problem in Australia, but I have heard Disneyland is notorious.??
hahaha, this is funny, "dancing on the spot"? That's a pretty good description alright. I've been in some pretty long lines but nothing like 756 people. The "toilets" are the worst! Not enough for the women usually.
I could not take that. My disability has changed me from waiting, to being at the front and getting in asap.
It is my turn tonight, I think Grayeme, I will use my facilities at home before I stand in the Queue at the Bell Center, haaaaaaaaaaaaa, that is also very long, have seen it, but never stood in line.
Two more days. Looks like the same program he did at the beginning of the year in Germany. Nothing new but certainly some old favorites (of mine anyway) -- Comment based upon what a couple of people who went to the Canadian concerts said.
New message from Andre on Twitter with photo. Go to "The Daily Rieu"!
I wonder how Judith is surviving the big adventure !!! May God bless her..
Can't wait to hear from her and share in her excitement.
Gosh Inge, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the concert. I'm sure being late didn't help your mood.
I've also heard that there was not much new in the program, but then I think about the ones
who are going for the first time. What may be old hat to us may not be to a first timer.
And as for me, who can't get to a concert this year at all, I think I would be happy to just be at any concert
of Andre's, whether I've heard it all before or not.
Shirley you might be right, missing half of the concert did not put us in a good mood to start with, but that was entirely my fault, you are also right, that for first time visitors it is still a treat, but he also has to think of the long time audience that they would like to hear new jokes and music, perhaps my disappointment will wear off until I see him in Germany? cross your fingers that it will!!!!!
Inge, you will probably get a new perspective in your Germany concert.
I only mention first timers because when I went to my first concerts I went to 4 in one week.
The same program was done at each concert, so I was a bit disappointed at first, but at each venue
it was different, somtimes it seemed the concert was livelier, but so was the audience. I think Andre feeds off the energy of the crowds.
But I was sitting next to a lady who had never even heard of Andre & this was her first concert & I can tell you I saw a new fan born right there.
To me, each concert is different because the people are different. The whole atmosphere changes. I guess I just am more of a people watcher,
even while I'm watching Andre & the orchestra I'm tuned into the audience, so much so that I forget to take any pictures!
LOOK AT YOUR TICKETS !!!!! STARTS 7:00 PM IN SYRACUSE......STARTS 7:30PM IN MANCHESTER......STARTS 8:00PM IN NEW YORK.....STARTS 7:30PM IN BRIDGEPORT !!!

Isn't Andre "TWEET"?
Yes Shirley, Andre is very "Tweet". That is cute. Hug to you today
My tickets for Reading just came on Saturday and I was getting a little nervous about them. They are getting later every year.
Marlene, did you know that under that Bull costume one of the two men is Pierre? - Jill those moments when he is human like us, are really nice. When I watched him on the German Millionaire show where the 4 celebrities made money for a children´s charity, André did make the smallest amount because he got money taken away again, he gave a silly answer, but I admired that he was doing it with Marc as his help to phone, he was good. André was very nervous, I had never seen him like that.
I think Andre's humaness is one of the things that charms us all.
He is a man of compassion, he feels with his heart, the things that are important to him.
He is ordinary, yet extraordinary. He seems a bit shy, but comes alive on stage.
He loves what he does and does what he loves. He has the heart of an artist, a romantic,
yet practical too. That he shows us a part of who he is makes him all the more appealing.
Shirley, I think you said it perfectly!
No, Inge, I didn't know that! Fantastic. It's nice to know.
Shirley, I know what you mean, I also do watch the people in the venue and for taking pictures, I feel silly doing it. I took some but next time I will leave the camera at home and just try to enjoy the concert, which was doomed last night right from the star!!!!!
Yes , E.Martin you are right, look at your tickets that you do not loose an hour like the Cossettes, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Hey guys,
Im sorry you did not inge you dod not enjoy the concert as much. The late didnt help your mood your right about that. To me, if its andre i love it. It might be some of the same songs but its so much different live. The seats also make a diffrence. They are getting pricey but its only once a year (well only once for me at least lol) I wish the meet and greet tickets were cheaper though
-Jeff
Hi Inge, I am very sorry that your concert experience was less than perfect. I know being late was a big disappointment. I will not even ask about Andre's hair or the tape measure : ) You will have a wonderful time in Germany. I will take many photos for you next Monday in Reading and you can enjoy those.
Shirley I get involved with the audience a little but not to the point where I forget to take photos of Andre as you can tell : ) I would have to be half dead to miss the photo ops. Hope to get many next week and some movies with my camera of the clog dance. Hugs to both of you
Last night was my l4th time live and September will be the l5th time, I guess it is getting like an old shoe, I do not know how some can take it traveling with them and see every concert, that would really take my appetite for it, but once a year is nice. - Hope you have a good time tomorrow, Jeff and do not be late, haaaaaa, I will not forget that ever, never happened to me before, maybe that was a senior moment?- Jeanine Ann, I measured his hair eyeballing, hahahaha, in the back they are still long and wavy but the front is very thin now. You want more hair on his head, am I right, like in the first few years????? - The clog dance is very short and one steps on André´s feet, he jumps, got a picture when he holds his foot, but it is blurry.
Hi Inge, thanks for eyeballing Andre's hair. I like it long but it doesn't sound too bad. I guess the one stepping on Andre's foot is part of the show so if it is I will pay attention and try to get that photo for you. If you got any good photos that you would like to put on the blog, mail them to me and I will put them on. You have seen pretty many concerts. I could go every week and never get tired but you know me I am Andre crazy. Of course I would go broke before too long. : ) Hugs
THE MUSIC WHAT COUNTS. THE GREAT MOOD HE COULD PUT YOU IN. YES, IF YOU ARE ON TIME THAT IS. OTHERWISE, YOU MISS OUT ON A LOT!
What comes to my mind right now.... are all the Fans who have not been able to see Andre yet. They wait and hope, they buy the CDs and DVDs but still have to hope that one day they will be able to attend a concert. It makes me feel humble to have been able to see so many.
You know I have watched so many DVD concerts and have often wished I could see some of the things like "Party Time" on the Gala Concert and the Bull in the Dublin Concert. There are so many beautiful moments in all the DVD's and each year the first thing I do is try to find out what songs are on the program. I know some will be repeats such as Blue Danube and when we are dancing and he stops the music for a second and looks down at us, that is so special. I wouldn't want to hear it any other way.
I am trying to think of a song which Andre has never played and there are so many beautiful ones and this year Mirusia is singing one of them "Time To Say Goodbye". Like I said there are so many DVD moments that I found myself saying "wish I could have been there" and with each concert year I might well be there. Hugs
My favourite song at the moment is Halleluja (? spelling, but I'm sure you know what I mean). I'd love to hear any of the soloists sing it. How beautiful it would sound on Andre's violin.
Mary Duff sang it in her concert and it just took my breath away.
Jill, that song gives me goosebumps too. Have you heard Andre do it? It's on at least three of his dvds.New York(Radio City) and The Homecoming and also Christmas Around The World. There might be others but those are the ones I know about.
Shirley I think we might be talking about different Halleluja's. I don't mean the one Handel wrote - I'm talking about the beautiful pop song that's fairly recent as far as I know.
It's only come to my attention in the last 12 months or so, but lots of people seem to sing it now. It's a beautiful lilting tune, perfect for a violin.
I thought once the children grew up my life would be peaceful and worry free...
Yep Jill, we are talking about two different pieces of music here. I've never heard the one you mentioned. and Jill, taking care of an animal is just about like taking care of children.
I'll have to see if I can find the song you're talking about. I wish andre would play more show tunes or movie themes. One of my favorites is Once Upon A Time In The West. I thought the orchestra did a superb job on that one.
Hi Jill, my cousin asked me if I'd heard of "Halleluja". I said Yes, of course, I've heard it for years and consider it one of my favorites...she said that it just came out. After a couple of confusing looks and comments, we knew we were talking about two different songs. I love the old song of course. I listened to the new song and I suppose that I would have to listen a few times to really get any feelings about it. Although, I must say, that I do think this song played on a violin with no lyrics would be good.
I think of so many songs that I'd love to hear André play, I'm very happy for "Time To Say Good-bye", it's an incredible song. I still would love to hear him play "Unchained Melody". It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about hearing him play this on the violin.
Hope your kitty is ok Jill. It seems that as long as there are animals in our life, there is no such thing as "worry free". I have plenty of stories to tell in that area.
Jeanine Ann, I send your kitty lots of prayers!
I think the "Hallelujah" Jill is referring to is the Leonard Cohen song.
Here is a clip of it being sung by Allison Crowe.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIMOdVXAPJ0
I also heard Mary Duff sing this "live" and it sent shivers up the spine.!!! Mary has the ability to do that to me....
Yes, that's it. Thank you Grayeme.
Well I've finally been able to listen to some different versions of this song. Haven't heard Mary sing it, but i think my favorite has to be by Alexandra Burke & then ll Divo. I would really like to hear just the instrumental version of this. And yes, Grayeme, we know what Mary does to you! Same thing Andre does to Jeanine Ann.
I'm so disappointed for you Inge. I'd be just beside myself if I'd mixed up the times. I think that would have put a downer on anything else that followed.
As far as Andre playing all the same things, I guess if we went to see Elvis we'd expect him to sing his iconic songs. Maybe it's the same.
The flip side is Ricky Nelson and his song Garden Party. Remember when he was boo'd because he would not sing his older songs and wanted to sing some of his newer songs?
I met Rick in Vallejo, CA. What a good looking and nice, very nice man.
Be careful Sally !!. Shirley will start saying "Sally goes weak-kneed over Ricky Nelson !!ha ha...she doesn't say anything about "her and "DANIEL"...!!!
shhh!
Am enjoying reading your posts but am truly trying to find who manufactures the Candle used during the Grave Markers for liberation day at the Allied cemetarys. The RED ones with storm cap. Am going to finish reading as many posts from this page as I can before I have to stop and fix our evening meal. Great site to find.
Bill Irwin, Blaine Washington USA.
Bill, I'm really not familiar with the candles but you might try this website to see if you can find an answer, http://www.abmc.gov/ It's the "American Battle Monuments Commission". Other than that I'm not sure, maybe someone else has some idea.
I felt so embarrassed for him and thought, "my gosh, he's human!"
Well, he handled it so well. He saw he was on the screen and made a big thing of exagerating the difficulty he was having, pretended to be wiping his nose with his hand then wiping it on his clothes etc. It became a really funny moment and a great start. "Oh I am sorry," he said "it must be the rain."
If he didn't already hold the strings to every heart in the audience before he certainly did then.
Mind you, I thought whoever was manning the camera was mean to leave it on him when he had such an awkward moment.
Isn't it something Jill how we look at Andre as someone who seems above all the ordinary things and I mean little things like the sneeze or when he had a cold in Reading last year and was constantly stopping his runny nose. Thanks Jill for that human Andre moment. Hugs
Jeanine Ann, those stars in your eyes are showing again!
Yes, I was at one concert where almost the whole orchestra had red noses and kept pulling out handkerchiefs. Andre kept reaching inside his vest to find a handkerchief and sometimes he would give a really loud sneeze. Sometimes we think they are so lucky to travel all over and dress up in glamorous gowns but it must be miserable when you have a cold and wish you could just get into bed with a good book. I wonder if Marcel or Teun have ever missed a performance. Not that I've seen.
I hope to have some pictures from tonight but may not be able to get them out until the weekend (but I'll try) because I get home Wednesday night, work Thurday, and go away again for two days getting home late Saturday night. First time I have left the kitties alone since Johann arrived. Bought him a pricey new cat tree which he uses to run up and jump to the top of the bookcase. Wasn't quite what I had in mind.
That's too cute. You bought a Cat Tree, Johann saw a Launching Pad.
Oh Virginia good luck with Johann, I am sure he loves his kitty tree, maybe that will keep him real busy until you return. He is so cute. Micetro is slowly getting back to her kittenhood life but she is so frightened of everything, every noise or person or truck or car. It will take her a long time to come around to normal. She is good with us but that is about it.
Have a wonderful time tonight and we will look forward to your photos whenever you get them on. Hugs to you

YES HAVE A GREAT TIME TONIGHT AND ENJOY THE CONCERT!
WE WILL ALL BE THINKING OF YOU (AND WISHING WE WERE THERE TOO)
Hi everyone.
Linda was not there.
...
And more in a few days.
I think that is what I have experienced.
Even tho the same songs that we have heard before are played during a tour,
they still may be done in a slightly different way from concert to concert.
Also like you said all concerts have a different atmosphere.
Love keeping up with the antics of our cats. It's amazing how high cats can jump isn't it? I'm always asking Jazz, how in the world did you get up there?
Speaking of kitties, we take Cotton to the vet tomorrow afternoon. Her liver ALT was so high two weeks ago and the vet is going to check it again. I am so worried about liver damage. The number should be under 100 and it is 366. That is an indication of damage. We are still feeding her but she does get up at night and eat a little dry food. I watch her constantly and do not sleep right. Please say some prayers for her tomorrow. Thank you so much. Hugs
Shirley, I have all 3 books about Polar bear , reading the last one I cried because when he wrote "the best cat ever" Polar bear was already in heaven, Cleveland Amory was a good man, he died a few years after Polar bear, I think he was 82.
He is a good cat and easy to pill, Poubelle would kill me, if I would do that with her.
Inge,I guess Cleveland was really into animal rights. My daughter said he was buried next to his beloved Polar Bear at his Black Beauty Ranch in Texas. He really did love that cat. We have a friend who didn't like cats either til one day his wife bought home a kitten. Day after day the kitty would have nothing to do with anyone but him, she must have known he didn't like cats so she better get on his good side.
That reminds me... Anyone who likes animals, dogs, German Shepherds .... rent the old Disney Movie... Love Leads The Way.
It is the story of Buddy, the USA's first Seeing Eye Dog. It is a wonderful movie, but be warned...have a box of tissues for the ending.
Golly, haven't seen that one either. I'm a sucker for those kind of movies. I still cry when I watch Bambi!
Yes, Shirley, Cleveland was a fighter for animals, he also said to a Catholic priest once at a party (Catholic church does not believe animals go to heaven) that he is glad he is not Catholic, because he will see his Polar bear again, when he dies. Even so I am Catholic, I would rather believe my departed cats are waiting for me. I love all animals, but the cat is the best creation of nature or GOD, not the human, haaaaaaaaaa!
Your friend was cured by his cat, I also fear for his well being when that cat dies.
Inge, we could learn a lot from animals couldn't we?I think we are the caretakers, they are the teachers. Yes,my friend will probably never have another cat. I think I mourn for the lost pets of my friends as much as mine. I had a very dear friend who had the cutest dog Max, everybody loved Max.
Hi all, Just wanted to let Jeannine Ann know how well I enjoyed looking the Daily Rieu. So nice to see new pictures. I am waiting patiently for our concert in Portland, OR on June 16th. It's on a Sunday, and at 6:00 pm. Another new time, so I am glad I caught that. It's so exciting to hear from all of you that are attending concerts.
Jeannine Ann, I sure hope your kitty gets better.
Hi Marilyn, so nice to hear from you. We are so glad you like The Daily Rieu. Thought it might be a good place to put Andre's Tweets. Your concert will be here before you know it. I have less than a week and the time will fly. I want to make a few more buttons and some fans which say "I Am An Andre Fan". We had them last year and everyone liked them.
Thanks Marilyn for your kind words about my kitty. Will keep you advised. Hugs to you
Hi Marilyn! I hope you don't show up for the concert in Portland on the 16th! The concert is for the 14th!!
I think that 6 pm is too early, but I suppose having the concert that early leaves room to go out and enjoy the evening afterwards!
Hi Marlene, I knew it was the 14th, don't know why I said 16th. I would be upset to miss it. I guess I will see you there!
Trees are the kindest things I know,
They do no harm, they simply grow
And spread a shade for sleepy cows,
And gather birds among their bows.
They give us fruit in leaves above,
And wood to make our houses of,
And leaves to burn on Halloween
And in the Spring new buds of green.
They are first when day's begun
To tough the beams of morning sun,
They are the last to hold the light
When evening changes into night.
And when a moon floats on the sky
They hum a drowsy lullaby
Of sleepy children long ago...
Trees are the kindest things I know.

I LOVE trees. When asked what is my favorite flower, I respond... a Tree! They are so majestic. Very humbling to us mortals.
Terrific poem for Earth Day
Sally, I love trees too. On Arbor Day I am going to plant one. I have to say my very favorite tree poem is the one by Joyce Kilmer, but even better the music that was written for it. We were talking about music we would like to hear Andre play, I would love to hear him play this music. Can you imagine what his violin could do for this piece?
Just got back from the vet so I did not have a chance to read what you are discussing but I wanted to tell you that Cotton's liver test was much better. Two weeks ago the ALT was 336 and today it was 150 - normal being 130. The gained a few ounces and her kidneys are ok for now. She is a real miracle kitty and I thank all of you who are keeping her in your prayers. Big hugs
Wonderful news, Jeanine. Such a relief for you, too. We worry so much about our pets and would love to have them live forever (or as least as long as we do).
This is great news.
You are so right Sally. I don't know what I would do without my kitties and last year I lost my Honi and now I am so fearful about Cotton but thankfully she has been given more time and we have been given more time with her. The vet kept saying "I don't know how she keeps coming back over and over again" but I was thinking that I know - it is all the prayers. I know I cannot keep her forever but God knows just when will be the time he will take Cotton back - the best time for us to be able to cope with it and I trust Him. I have cried over so many animals, mostly cats - even my neighbors cats so I think we all know what that is like. That is so sad about Max but I believe he really was grieving for his mom. Hugs
When I lost my little dog "Hoochie" I was lost too, I just didn't know how a dog so loved, could not be there anymore. The ONLY thing that got me through it, was knowing in my heart, deep down, that I would see her again. I wrote some words, took one of her pictures and framed them both and every single time I look at that picture, I tell her I love her.
Yes, she's waiting for me, happy and playing, waiting for me to be with her again.
No one could ever convince me that they don't go to Heaven, and that they are not waiting for us. They are waiting, just like our human loved ones.
Noticed that Linda Custers and her viola were NOT present at the Concert in Ottawa; does anyone know her status with the JSO ??
You are right. I just look at the photos & only Nadejda and Klaartje (I don't know if I wrote right) are playng.
I hope it's only a temporary pause.
Regards
Adriana
Hi all-
Friends of my Mom's have to miss Andre's May 14th concert at the First Mariner Arena in Baltimore, MD dues to an illness in the family and would like to sell their excellent tickets. They have 3 seats together in SECTION 106 (1st tier above the floor) ROW BB (2nd row) on the aisle- right next to the stage. They are only looking to re-coup what they paid for them. They were going to put them up for sale on EBay, but I thought that someone on your list might be interested.I'd be happy to respond to anyone who is interested.Thanx-and for all of you Maryland fans- see you at the concert!

I have only just realised that Andre is coming out to Australia to launch his next DVD and you can meet him at Hoyts at Moore Park on Mothers Day! This is really exciting and the tickets are quite cheap too! I'm gathering up a group of friends to make an afternoon out of it. What a wonderful way to spend Mothers Day.
My girlfriends and I have just bought tickets to meet Andre on Mothers Day in Sydney for his DVD launch at the Hoyts Cinema at Moore Park! I am so excited and what a lovely way to spend Mothers Day. The tickets are so cheap and you get a program and CD as well.
Hi Renae: I think that is so good, what a GREAT thing to do for Mother's Day.
Please let us know all about it.
wow, this has got to be exciting for you all. Andre on the big screen & all the extra's too. What a great Mother's Day. I love the idea of watching the concerts on a movie screen, it's bigger than life & the sound has to exceptional. whoopie. way to go Andre.
New photos of Andre in N.Y. on "The Daily Rieu". He was doing photoshoots!
Just for anyone who has never been there.
http://bobjanuary.com/johann2.htm
wow oh wow! I'll be spending a lot of time with Bob.This is like a treasure chest full of gold. Thanks Grayeme.
I love this site Grayeme. I have just been browsing around & found a very interesting thing Bob calls "Musical Menu", he lists all the songs that have lyrics mentioning food. There is lots to read on here.
It is funny isn't it, I have had that site pegged on my computer as my Strauss reference site for a long long time. But I just assume everyone else here would also know it. Makes my day to know it gives someone else pleasure.
Just proves, if you find something that interests you, you should post it.
So many similarities between the Strauss's and Rieu's eh.!!!
Grayeme, I just went in your bobjanuary.com and saw a picture from Johann Strauß and Johannes Brahms, that picture was taken in my hometown, not only that, in the street where I grew up in front of the Kormatfelsen-Hotel, where the two friends stayed. Strauß II played with the Baden-Baden Kur-Orchestra.
Thats terrific Inge, is it the photo of Strauss and Brahm together. How can you tell or do you know the history of that photo.??? or am I looking at the wrong photo. Fancy living in a street that Strauss frequented !!! We can only dream of such historic things in Australia, we are such a young country.
I have an article from my home town July 7, 2OO2 about that and it was some kind of anniversary of the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, my picture is a little bigger, more of the bodies to be seen of the two, yes it is Johann Strauß Jr. and Johannes Brahms. It is taken on the Fremersberg, I lived in that street, called Fremersbergstrasse. The hotel they stayed in was a hotel until about 3O years ago and now it is a home for Old folks, but super nice.
I'm back-all my Andre Fans and Friends, I am exhausted, just got home half hour ago-evrything that could go wrong DID, but I am the happiest Concert goer!!!!!!
Will get on line in the morning and get my thoughts together, and shoot from the hip, my very honest comments on this
Andre Concert. Shame on Syracuse, Manchester, etc, BUT YOU ARE NOT BRINGING ME DOWM TO YOUR UNPREPARED LEVELS - more later..................
Yip-eeeeeeeeeeee, enjoyed every single
2 and 1/2 hours...............
Oh Judith I was wondering where you were. I am so glad you enjoyed the concert. Looking forward to all the details, whatever they are! Get some rest. Hugs
Hurry up and wake up Judith - I can't wait to hear your story.
Hey there, you with the stars in your eyes! Float on your cloud of sweet dreams and we'll see you in the morning.Andre could use a few more like you in the audience.
Here I am again ~ I can not rest - I am so super charged - excited - pinching my self silly, to realize I was truly IN
the same building with Andre and the JSO
I loved every second, every sound, I was
totally focused on that handsome face of Andre. Jeanine Ann and everyone, the
pedestal is SOOO much higher. I will probally babble, but I am gonna tell it as it comes out. Sanne has a silver-ie
"new" beautiful dress. Andre is gorgeous
up close and personal. We arrived at the front doors a little before on hour before 7PM, doors already open. I got up close to Andre's three buss'es. Other
buses were dropping smiling 'seniors' off, walkers, canes, wheel chairs, you name it; half of them were runnung with their walking aids in their hands.
We tried to upgrade tickets that morning
and were told the Concert was sold out -
no extra tickets. LESS than half filled,
TOO many sections had NO ONE in them, only third of the floor level had seats, which were filled.
If I had tickets for the rest of the tour, I would follow them all the way back to Europe with the BIGGEST smile on my face
and continue to enjoy every note. Would this discourage me??? Excuse me, HELL no, I will follow this man to the ends of the earth, no matter the material. I can say I was there.....and I WOULD GO again and again and again and again. He is so charming, beautiful, talented and that magic just over flows from him to the entire complex. They had trouble with the sound, you could barely hear Andre - but I had my Bell & Howell ear piece just in case; I was happy!!!!!
The Bull was there, Carla was the doll,
I thought when they took their intermission, they might have fled for the bus and left the small showing sitting in the dark-but that it NOT Andre. He put on a fantastic show!!!!! I
am still bouncing/waltzing/jiving/moving parts of my body I forgot I had. Still not sleeping. The following day, Andre's three bus'es followed us on the 690 East
as we took my son-in-law to work; so I was waving at them and smiling. I am running out of space, so I will have to rent more room to continue and spread my
happiness, joy, priviledge, good feelings with all of you. This is such a feeling that is so hard to explain, BUT once you see, hear, attend a Concert
you will know what I am talking about. I have been
Oh Judith, come back if you can. You should get some rest though. I told you that you would never be the same once you have seen him LIVE. What a face, huh? I am now getting so excited for Monday. Tell us more when you can. Did you get any photos?? Where were you sitting? Isn't it a wonderful feeling to know that you are in the same room as Andre!! I always think of that - breathing the same air. I guess I sound just like you now and I think we are pretty much the same in this respect.
Will wait for you sweetie. I am falling asleep here but I wanted to wait to see if you came back. I knew you would not be able to sleep because I have been there. Thanks so much. Big hugs to you.
Judith I bet you were typing at about 200 words a minute !! I can feel your excitement coming through every word. This is what it is all about isn't it, posts on the "blog" like this make everything we do just so worthwhile.
We have all been so eagerly awaiting your report Judith, I never expected anything less than this, because you went in the right frame of mind, intent on having the time of your life. I am just so pleased for you, you now have that experience and memories of, which you will carry for life. Bless you and Thanks Judith.
A little Prudence Potpourri
Do you know that hens have been found to lay more eggs listening to Johann Strauss "BLUE DANUBE".
Do you know that Catherine Hayes was the first great European opera star to visit Australia?
Are you familiar with the opera "Bohemian Girl" by Michael William Balfe? The best known aria in
that opera is "I Dreamt I Dwelt In Marble Halls". It has been done by several artists, my favorite by Enya.
But Mirusia, are you listening? This one has your name all over it.
And now, for those bookworms who love music, have you read "Note by Note: A Celebration of The Piano Lesson by Tricia Tunstall?
New info from Andre on 2010 tour on "The Daily Rieu" with photo!!
Another message from André as he leaves for Bridgeport. Check The Daily Rieu page for photo!!
The trouble with a lot of todays songs, is that someone forgot to put them to music.
Right on Mr Bill! We call that noise pollution.
Haaaaaaaaaaaa, so true, Bill!!!!
We are Graham and Frances. Two years ago we bought a dvd The Flying Dutchman and we caught the bug , now 22 dvd 's later we are trying to find out more information about JSO , eg , who is the young lady who sits on between Cord and Agnes , Manoe is so much like our eldest daughter it is not funny (she past away in 1988 age 25), Suzan Erens, did she marry Andre's son Pierre and how come she's not in the last 2 dvd's,what happend to Carla she didn't come on the Australian tour, not in the latest dvd's but i see she's gone on the Canadian tour, Also we would like to see an upto date photo of Marjorie,we also like to know who is married to who in the orchestra and choir (it is a very productive choir).
Hope to hear from you soon .
Bye for now
Graham and Frances
I THINK, YOU COULD FIND MORE INFO ON ANDRERIEU.COM, TIME TO TIME, UNDER NEWS, THEY DO MENTION A LITTLE ABOUT THEIR CONCERTS, AND YOU FIND A LOTS OF PICTURES.
New photo from Andre on Twitter. JSO relaxing in Central Park. Go to "The Daily Rieu" page!
TO GRAHAM and FRANCES.....Suzan & Pierre split up in 2007, nearly two years ago. Before going to Australia, Pierre married a 39-year-old production assistant (met while doing Eftelling DVD) named Eefie von Hombergh. Suzan Erens is currently working on CD soon to be released.
E.Martin, are you sure you did not make a typing mistake, 39 year old woman Pierre married??????? he is only about 26 or 27, I guess Suzan was a little older, but not that much. Perhaps you meant 29???????
I guess you are right in both, Pierre is about 27, Susan is just about 31or maybe 32, not more.
ACCORDING TO RECORDS....Pierre was born in 1981 and is 28 this year. Suzan was born Nov 1976 and is 33 now. Eefie is 39.
Wow, he likes older women, perhaps he is mature for his age???????
ACCORDING TO RECORDS...Pierre was born in 1981 and is 28 this year. Suzan was born Nov 1976 is 33 this year. Eefie, no typo, is 39.
Welcome Graham and Frances! Nice to see you here. It's always fun to hear how someone got the André "bug". We all have a similar story.
There are many who would probably love to see an updated photo of Marjorie, however she prefers to stay behind the scenes. We all can appreciate that of course, ha. I presume when you asked about an updated photo, you have the book written by Marjorie called "My Music, My Life"? If not, there is a photo of her in there, although it's not an updated one.
As far as who's married to whom in the orchestra, I guess you will just have to do some research on that one. I don't know who's got all that information. I love to listen to them, but I don't do too much researching on them.
So...have you started collecting cd's as well?
Take care and come back and visit often, we'd love to hear from you. This is a very friendly site and it certainly has a lot of up to date information on our favorite Maestro!
Hi everyone,
Inge saw my violin on the Guestbook and sent these photos to me with the story of the man who made the miniature violin.
That is a stunning mini. It is as beautiful as the real sized ones. Wow. May the dear man rest in peace, he certainly had a talent.
Now, when you get stuck on Dial-up Internet for 4 days, heres a game for you to play. Watch the DvD's - The Flying Dutchman - Live in Vienna - Maastricht and Maastricht 11. Don't concentrate on the concert too much, but watch the audience. Now the object of the game is to spot how many fans can you see at all the concerts or repeat offenders at some of the concerts. I have found 8 fans that are at all 4 concerts. My count for 3 concerts excluding Vienna is 17 and for just the 2 Maastricht concerts a whopping 38 fans. Now isn't that a terrific way to pass some time, mind you I have been watching this a bit more than just today. It involves a good memory and a lot of replaying to verify if you are right. I am sure this information will be useful to someone some day.....what do you think....??? ....no....I am not bored....just relaxing....and I know the first reaction for some....will be to laugh.....but this is dead serious stuff....
I suppose I should add that Lynne is away for a few days as well.....and I don't have a dog to talk to....
I AM laughing.
Haaaaaaaaaaaa, what a way to pass the time, Grayeme! I remember only that I saw the banner man on almost all of the DVDs, except in Australia, here in Montréal I saw him last year in front with his banners but not this year, but as you know, I missed a lot this year, hardiharhar!
To Graham and Frances, I know only that Pierre married someone else he met at the Efteling spectacle, Suzan has left the Rieu-ensemble, but so have Carla and Carmen and they all come back occasionally.
Hello Shirley,
Dan the banner man was at the manchester Nh concert on 4.21.09. He was very nice to talk with and he had a banner(of course) that said andre for president and the energizer bunny with andres heads on it! It was very cool.
Thanks
take care
-Jeff
Hi Jeff, did you enjoy your concert? I've only talked to Dan once, at one of my first concerts, and that was only because I recognized him. I was passing to get into my seat & he was in the aisle, I just said "you must be Dan the bannerman" & he smiled and said yes he was. we exchanged a few words when Franco came up to show him some pictures of his son so I moved on into my seat. Later, at the meet & greet I did meet Franco.. I was thrilled to get the chance to talk with several of the JSO & Andre too.
They are all so nice. Andre works with a great group doesn't he?
Hi everyone,
I just wanted you to see this old violin I found in an antique shop. The local Luthier fixed it up for me. It was in pretty bad shape but intact. He had to put new bridge, sound post and pegs but was able to save the old finger board. He dates it around 1840!! Wow what a find huh? It plays real nice and the first thing I did was to play "Waltzing Matilda" in his shop! That is the only song I have memorized real well. : ) There is no name on it so I don't know the history. Wish I did. I only paid $55.00 for it at the antique shop. My music teacher said she would love to have one like it. Thought you might find it interesting.
wow Jeanine Ann, I'm impressed. Wouldn't you really love to know where it's been? Sounds like you are doing pretty good with your lessons, just to play anything at all is something. Thanks girl.
Jeanine Ann, what a wonderful find. I wish it could tell us the stories of its travels and of the music it has sang.
I like your choice of song to play Jeanine Ann! I'm on dialup, so am still waiting for the photo to come up as I write this...
Do you think we all should be worried about Grayeme? Sounds like he's going a bit strange with Lynne away!!!
Hi Jill, I just checked and the photo is there but if it doesn't come up let me know and I will email it to you. Hugs
Has anyone checked the photo gallery lately?? Sally put some gorgeous new photos of gorgeous Andre!!!
Hi Jeanine Ann
Yes the photo did come up.
What a great find.
Thanks
QUESTION FOR ANYONE..... Linda Custers (Viola) did NOT appear on stage on the current Canadian Tour......Does anyone know her status ???
I had not heard that Linda left but she was not on our tour. Someone asked who the woman was between Cord and Agnes. That is Jennifer Kowalski who has been there for quite awhile. As for relationships: Lin (violin) and Ruud (trombone) got married in the 1990s from the orchestra and have two children; Jet (violin) and the tuba player are married; Rene (trumpet) and Virginie (choir); Tanya (cello) and the set-up manager are partners; I don't know about Frank and Sanne if they are still a couple or not. Haven't heard anything lately. I wish the ARP would update their orchestra page which they haven't done for ages and ages. Maybe if we keep mentioning it, they will.
We had enquiries about Jennifer Kowalski after the Australian tour. Seems she is winning the hearts of many. I can understand why too, she has the most beautiful smile and she is just so bubbly from start to finish of every show. She has been around for a while now, but recently she has been in a more prominent position on stage, particularly in "Live in Australia" where she is directly behind Andre and gets a lot of exposure. I don't mind at all, she is very easy to look at.
Guess Who is enjoying his new Cat Climber at his Forever Home?
What a gorgeous cat Sally. I love his tail. It looks a very pretty room too.
Your photo cmae up instantly but I'm still waiting for Jeanine Ann's violin to show itself to me - am sure it'll be worth the wait. What a story it could no doubt tell.
Oh, Sally your cat looks just like my Princesse that died in 2OO7, she had only a black spot on her cheek and a black nose, otherwise she was the same, she also draped herself over the furniture, lovely cat!!!!!
Hi All, This is Johann Strauss, Virginia's cat.
I meant to say so sooner, but I had a web attack I was working on.
Inge, I have a cat like this too. Timmi the Timid. Tuxedo Cats are soo cute.
Sally, my Princesse should have been called Timid, she was, but her history, poor thing. She was first owned by a guy who named her Mickey, did not like her and gave her back to the pet shop, there she was then 5 month in a cage, that did not help, my neighbor bought her and had her de clawed on all 4 paws, the idiot! then she bit his kids who put her dressed as a doll in the carriage, the dog ate her food and she was hiding all the time, they named her Juliette. He just tossed her out in the rain .
Just saw ,on Yahoo, on the list of "today's top searches", the name Andre Rieu. cool!
How exciting!! I always check the "today's top searches", but today I came over here and checked the blog out first. When I read your words Shirley, I got all excited and went and checked and sure enough, André's name was there! I think it's just fantastic.
That's cool. And did you notice the only Andre Rieu Fan site that is on page one of the search results?
Yes. US !!
The Website and The Blog.
Hopefully new people who are looking for Andre will also find us and think what fun & kind people we are...and want to get in on the fun.
Hi everyone, Inge would like you to see her kitties. Aren't they all adorable! The tabby looks just like my Rainbow Honi.
Each one adorable! Moise looks like a "mittens" we used to have. Here we are talking mostly about kitties but I really like dogs too, just haven't had one in a long while, but some of my friends have dogs & I love them all too. Actually I just like animals.
Wouldn't it be fun to have FIVE (they are beautiful!) cats?! I'd love to match it with five dogs...all would be friendly with each other, of course!
I love animals too.
I guess if you are going to get stopped by the Newark Police, it might as well be this one! See "The Daily Rieu" for the latest photos!
Inge, I think many people don't know what the word "responsible"means. We are just a throw away society. Some people not only abandon pets but now their children as well. I don't get it. Did compassion leave the building?
Shirley, you can say that again, kids or animals, what a world, lucky some like us still live on this planet of throw aways!
Well, Inge, Shirley and Sally, you made me smile today thinking about how you all have saved some beautiful kitties!
I enjoyed reading your stories and each and everyone were heartwarming.
Your hearts will make up for all those people who abuse and mistreat their animals. Thank you all for sharing.
I've just got a new kitty, she's just a baby and she wasn't a rescue, however she did need a home. My other kitty is 3 1/2 years old and very independant, but I love her very much.
Take care all, have a great Sunday!
Jeanine Ann, it's finally here! I can feel your butterflies kicking in.I am hoping you have the best time ever. I am thinking of you today & especially tonight. Take a picture for me.

Okay Inge I will get a good close up just for you : ) Thanks!
This Mini talk made me think of the Victorian Village I have always wanted for Christmas decorations. Can you imagine if the Village had Andre Rieu & his JSO as the people in it? That would be too cool.
Did you all see Andre's web site about "do parakeets like violin music"? really neat.
Yes, I did see it Shirley. Thanks, I found it to be quite interesting.
I am trying to post again. Tried twice before about my Concert experience, logged in the number, characters were close to 3000, than ZIP and the entire comment vanished, gone. I also wrote a
message to E Martin, and the same thing happened, all gone....why would I be having problems NOW??, Also wrote a short note to Jeanine Ann on Sunday, to have a wonderful time, ZIP, GONE........
we'll see if this makes it. Thanks for listening; but I put so much work into the Concert report and it just was ZAPPED away???? Twice?
Hi Judith: Gosh computers Run or Ruin our lives sometimes don't they?
You can email your report to Jeanine Ann or to Me, and I will create a page for your viewing only. Once you say you like it..then we'll share it with the other fans so everyone can enjoy your story.

A good day to take a nap, which is what I'm getting ready to do. Just wanted to pop in and see what was happening. did everybody go on vacation or something? You all forgot me!! boo hoo.
Hi Jeanine Ann, thought I saw you last night floating on clouds 9, 10, 11 and 12. Guess it will be just awhile longer
before you reach terra firma and we will be hearing about your WOW-eeeeeeeee
experience. I can hardly wait to hear and read your wonderful report.I will be patiently waiting to get some words from you our expert Concert goer, who always manages to give and get Prime Time photo's, and I have a feeling a little something very special...........

Hello Shirley, I know exactly how you feel. After attempting to post four different times, and everything going bye-bye. I just gave up, and than no one was posting anything, and I really got parinoid. I sat down and wrote some over due notes to family and friends. I had to go back to the letter writing art
as my PC won't/can't/expired/ sooooooooo
it was either write my family. Monday was 80 degrees, sunny and wonderful, today is stay in your jammies day cuz it is cold. Anyways, I am so glad to see
you on line Shirley. Hope the nap was a good one, now you have a real fun evening, as for me, I invited Andre over

Hey Judith, yes, the nap was a good one. It's still raining today, maybe I will read another book. Like everyone else I am still waiting to hear about Jeanine Ann's concert. I imagine it takes time to get all the info together. BTW, why don't you send your story to Sally or Jeanine Ann so they can make a special page. I haven't heard much from you yet either except I know you were excited too. We're almost out of April now so maybe we can expect May flowers. How was your "coffee with Andre", did he come or was it only in your dreams?
