Brazil is unique for its richness of nature, culture, economy and history. This lends the country a Wonderland quality, with countless tourist attractions, and diversity as our main instrument to fulfill this potential. Beaches, forests, mountains, rivers, festivals, diversified cuisine, national parks, and historical towns are scattered among 26 states and the Federal District, where the Capital, Brasília, is located.

The land area of Brazil extends over 8.5 million square kilometers, occupying just under half (47%) of the area of Latin America. The country possesses 20% of all the world’s biodiversity; an example of this natural wealth is the Amazon Rainforest, with 3.6 million square kilometers.

Ranking fifth among the world’s most populated countries, the population of Brazil amounts to 50 million families or approximately 180 million inhabitants (2004), the majority - 81% - in urban areas. The national birth rate, which reached as high as 6.3 in 1960, currently stands at 2.1 children per female. The result of this decline, which can be associated to an improvement in social indicators and consequently in quality of life, will be a population whose majority of citizens will be aged between 15 and 44 years within the next four decades. This will represent one of the largest job and consumer markets among the countries on the American continent.

Hi Shirley!
"Ventiladores felizes"??? What does it mean??
Acho que houve um erro de tradução...
I think there´s some translation problems here...
Reply to this
Hello Elisangela, I think my translator stinks huh? haha I am only trying to say we are all happy that Andre will be coming to Brazil. the "ventiladores feliizes" should say "happy fans". Please, how would you say it? I need to learn much more about your language, you do much better with ours than I do with yours.

It´s funny...kkkkk
I think a good way to say that in portuguese is:
"Todos os fans de Andre estão felizes no Brasil!

I am laughing now too, that didn't come out right at all!

Ventiladores almost all of the online translators I have used do that. They think the word FAN or FANS is used as in a fan to blow a cool breeze on one, rather than a Fan of someone's work. Same word, different meaning.
Still, I am glad to have the online translators because it helps me learn about People, Languages & Cultures other than my own.

Dear Sally, I believe we understand what you wanted to say, but if you like, write the whole sentence in english and I'll translate for you.

Hi Adriana!
Can´t you believe in that? Rieu in ower city?
I´m just thinking what places is he going to choose to make the concerts...You know, Brasilia is a small city: we have only a stadium (Mané Garrincha) very smaller than Maracanã...rsrs and the National Theater, it had just 1307 chair...But, if he want, next year Brasilia is going to complete 50´s in april...it´s a good time to came...rsrs...and make the show in the biggest Esplanada dos Ministérios.
And in SC? Can you imagine where he can play?
Kisses

Elizangela,
Beijos

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, Ventiladore, actually I like that word better than FAN, we air out the laundry of André and the JSO, but no kidding, after all, a computer i only a machine not a real brain and the funnies are cute. Translating literally from one language to an other is even without a computer difficult to understand, therefore you have to communicate with the real people and learn about their idioms, I had in England , when I was just learning, the hole dining room laughing and had no idea why, because I translated word for word instead of with idioms, but I learned and it was fun and I still make lots of mistakes, but at least I am understood most of the time.

Inge, You do very well. And that you have more than 2 languages is impressive.
I notice many in Europe have several languages and our friends in Brazil have Portuguese and many have English as well.
I studied French in school, but with the US being so big and everyone speaking English, I had no one to practice with. I have lost most of it.
This is what is cool about being a fan of Andre Rieu's ... we meet so many great people from around the world, that we can learn of them and their languages as well as talk about Andre. As Walt Disney said "It's a Small World After All".
Reply to this
Inge I am now laughing so hard too. Should have know that the word looked more like ventilator & it had something to do with air!I think I'll leave the translators alone from now on. I can butcher the english language as it is, no sense trying to butcher the others too.

Sally in Europe we had to learn at least English and French, after the war we had the occupation and we heard it as children. later I learned it at school, could write a commercial letter but speaking was a different matter, everybody laughed. French was easier for West Germans to learn because we were closer to France and also had less difficulties with the nasal pronunciation, the Northern Germans had it easier with English because of the Plat German which is very similar to Dutch or Flemish. That is why I went one year to England and one year to France, but the funny thing was, I was better in French and when I learned English, I could not speak French, I started each sentence in French and ended in English, but after a while I had it sorted out and translating is different than speaking a foreign language. My husband speaks good German, but translating is difficult for him, my kids jump from one language into the other because they grew up with it.

I was very happy with the notice of its coming to Brazil… my dream is to be ahead of an orchestra, and I go to carry through this dream with its coming!
Its success is my accomplishment.
[forgives, my English is very limited] Until soon.

These are very good choices Elisangela, even though I live in the US, I am hoping that when Andre comes to Brazil he will be making a dvd of one of your concerts, and also that my two very favorite Brazilian girls are there to sing, you know,Carmen and Carla? They are the best ever!

Hi Shirley,
That´s nice you´ve liked my songs list...So, you live in US, have you been in "New Yourk Memories" dvd? It´s one of my favorites, specially because My Way and A witter shade of pale musics...
I just met Carmen and Carla on André dvd. I didn´t know about her until a friend give me the dvd made in Tuscany, I forgot the name now...It was the first time that a watch Andre and JSO dvd, then I enjoyed a lot. Now I´ve 12 dvds, rsrs (smiles)...Tha´t fantastic that they were from Brasil.
I´m studying violin for 2 years, and now I´m in a school orchestra, and for me it´s a dream that´s going to be real: see one great orchestra like this one!!!
I wish he choose Brasilia concert to make the dvd!
(SORRY BY ENGLISH MISTAKES)

Hello Elisangela, I just read that you are studying violin. That is wonderful. I started also 1 1/2 years ago and I love it. Keep it up and one day you will be really good. Maybe even an orchestra!! You take care of yourself. I love hearing from you. Big hugs

Good Day Elisangela, I love the New York Memories. My Way seems to fit Andre perfectly, and the Whiter shade of Pale, didn't Ward do a great job on that one?We have the lyrics to that one here on the site. Did you know that there are about 930 versions of that piece & 25 different lyrics in 15 different languages? You are a violin student? Great! I cannot imagine that being an easy instrument to play. Andre says "practise, practise, practise".
Reply to this
Wow! I didn´t know about the music! My God, 930 versions?!!..I´ve one version here, and I´m trying to play, but there´s some parts that I can´t do, ´cause I´m studying in the First Position yet. I´ve tryied to stop study one milion of times, it´s really hard to play, but I couldn´t. I love it!
So, Portuguese is a difficult language, even to us....rsrs...Specially the grammar...In english I have problems to write with the verbs in present, perfect or future...sometimes I change everything, as you can see...(smiles)
I have a question to you Shirley: how many Andre concerts have you saw?
Reply to this
To answer your question, I have only been to 5 concerts. Wish it were more but I am lucky I got to see those. There are so many who have been to hundreds & all over the world. I am not so lucky to do that.
Reply to this
Elisangela, Your list is fantastic! I think the same like you. All these musics are essentials. But I'm a little sad because I knew A.R. Will introduce "sambas e escolas de samba" on his concert in Brazil.
Reply to this
Unfortunately it´s true. All the world think that Brazil had just "samba". Myself, I hate samba, and those women dancing...it´s a shame for me. But I hope he make here a concert as he allways have been doing around the world - we dont want see samba and samba...I would like to listen waltz!
Reply to this
It's more interesting for us to watch Andre Rieu in foreign because in those countries there aren't "samba schools".
Reply to this
I have 16 dvds Andre Rieu concert and I don't believe that here in Brazil the concert will introduced Samba. Here, we can see every day, every hour.I would like to see a Andre's concert like as we have watched for many years and turned him famous and Waltzer Ambassy.
I hope that the my poor English would be compreensive and understood.
Reply to this
Cesar, your English is very good. You can write in both English and Portuguese, it is OK.
I am happy for you that he will be in Beautiful Brasil soon.
I believe Andre will bring his regular tour of Waltzes and other beautiful music. He might add a national song toward the end, just to show respect.
The one thing I know for a fact is that you and your country will love the concert!
