Our Anniversary Concert With André Rieu
For our wedding anniversary … My husband of 52 years & I attended Andre's concert in Baltimore May 14th. Unfortunately we didn't know he would be there the day before as we would have been there. It was a marvelous concert & amazing how short 2 and one half hours are. The doors to the lobby opened at 6pm and we were the first in line to be admitted at the 7pm opening to our seats as I was so excited. While waiting at the open door for the 7pm admittance there was a couple inside that had already had their meet & greet etc. so we chatted with them. I said one of these days we want the full package to go back stage & talk & eat with Andre but with the economy as it is we weren't eager to pay $3,000.00 at this concert. The lady looked at her husband and said "YOU paid $3,000.00 for our seats for our anniversary???" so I quickly said "that shows you how much he loves you" & she gave him a kiss & we laughed about it. Whew!!! foot in mouth.
We soon went in and had end seats on the third row that Andre comes in on. Sitting in front of us was the girl that is dressed in the red dress that the bull goes after. We enjoyed talking with her & she said don't I have a great job? I get to travel with Andre & the JSO and have a bull chase me. The audience loved the bull episode.. It was great being so close as you can see every expression on Andre's face. There were beautiful new dresses for some of the girls and some new faces. It was so exciting & over too soon. It's hard to get good pictures of Andre because as soon as you have the camera on him & click, he moves, so I just kept clicking hoping some were good.
I was amazed that so many people do not know who he is. There were a lot of elder fans, as we are and were driven by their children who had no clue who Andre is or that he has a website so I started asking people if they knew he had a website & if not I told them about it and the fans site. One couple came to Baltimore that lives in PA. as they didn't know there was a concert in Pa. We only learned about him last year a week before his concert on PBS and immediately bought tickets. Since then my husband said I paid for the palace he built, buying anything I can find on him. My husband's favorite is Carla and he was so happy that she came on the U.S. tour, she was the adorable doll (birthday present) & he drooled over her while I drooled over Andre. Andre asked who had a birthday and only a few hands went up, then he said all the birthday people get my new CD. He asked again who had birthday's and of course all hands went up. Andre is such a warm happy guy & he makes everyone feel that they are the only one in the concert hall so who wouldn't love him & his happy orchestra & joyful music. He has brought me through many health issues. My cleaning lady loves his music and when she comes to clean I have a DVD playing for her and she says it helps her to forget while she works, that her husband lost his job and that she is cleaning to support their family. I have given her many DVD's as they can't afford cable but have a DVD player.
Fans, we need to get more information out about him in the U.S. as we don't want him to stop coming here for lack of fans. Tell all your neighbors, friends, church groups, whoever about him as we need to get more info out about him. My husband takes DVD's to work for his co-workers to take home to hear.
We had a wonderful evening and pray for their safety on their travels to make the world a happy place. God Bless
Marguerite

Haaaaaaa, I had to laugh, because in our case it is the same, my husband also loves Carla and I André, but he had to miss her Olympia Solo because I did not look at the tickets and it started one hour earlier than the years before, we came only just before intermission, just saw the bull running after the lady in red. But I see him again in Germany in September.
Marguerite, thank you for your nice description of the concert. It was very enjoyable. Your pictures are wonderful!
I tell everyone about André wherever I go.
I enjoyed your story about your cleaning lady and how she likes André. You play her his music when she comes to clean for you. I have my own cleaning business and I have a client who plays André for me when I go over to their house. It truly does make the time go by ever so nicely.
Thank you for your kind reply. Hind site told me I didn't express our great experience as eloquently as others but it came from my heart and we are here to help others and I try daily to do that. God has been good to us & we like to share with others who are less fortunate than we are. Regards Marlene
Marguerite, I thought you expressed yourself quite well. I am just now getting around to reading a lot on the blog & I found your story really wonderful. Like you, I am still surprised by the number of people who have not yet heard of him. PBS can only do so much and there are a lot of people who don't watch PBS, so he needs more exposure our different talk shows. I'm sure with Andre as a guest it would be entertaining.
