Dressmaker Has Stars In Her Sights
Dressmaker has stars in her sights
A SMALL Ascot Vale dress shop is making its mark on a global scale.
Leiela Ladies Evening Wear in Union Road is being sought out by stars and celebrities keen to don their gowns on the red carpet.
The latest identity to wear Leiela's wares is Andre Rieu's lead soprano Mirusia Louwerse.
On a global tour with Rieu - the world's most famous violinist, conductor and composer - Louwerse and her Universal Music management selected a sparkling sequined gown for appearances in Sydney and have since bought the dress so she can wow audiences around the world in the stunning evening number.
Dressmaker Lucy Laurita, who has owned the shop for four years, said she was thrilled the big name had picked one of her creations.
"This is what I've always aimed for - It's been a wish of mine to do this and it's paying off."

Nice article! It was a long ago dream of mine to be a dressmaker of evening gowns, show costumes, etc. I can certainly appreciate the creativity of this gown that Mirusia has on. She's stunning as is her gown.
Thank you Jeanine Ann for this pleasant article.
The lovely Mirusia would look good no matter what she wore!
congratulations to Lucy Laurita, it was great to see Mirusia choose a local Melbourne dress maker. She looked stunning in her dress. Pierre and Mirusia make a lovely couple, and Andre for sure would be proud to have Mirusia as his daughter inlaw.... what a great couple they make.......! Tess
Pierre would make a great soninlaw, but he is already taken and married, oh what a shame.....lyn
