A NZ Fan Site Is Born

A new genre is introduced!

Last year, my grandparents gave my parents André Rieu At Schönbrunn Vienna. I saw the case and wasn’t too interested in watching it at all. But I was encouraged to watch the DVD anyhow. ……. And WOW! I am so glad I did! All the pieces André performed on it I had never heard before, apart from one or two, but the enthusiasm, people and music at the concert just enticed me. It just made me feel so…. energetic and happy! The music is just amazing! Ever since, I’ve watched most of his other DVDs. - Playing them twice! He is just truly amazing! I bought André Rieu: The 100 Most Beautiful Melodies, and listen to it on my iPod whenever I can. My Nana & Grandad and my parents and I own altogether around 15 DVDs (I think), and often share them around.

A website is born…

On Sunday the 17th of May 2009, my Grandma was staying with us, we decided we’d just check up on our tickets to André’s concert in NZ. After talking about we should wear to the concert, we thought we should watch one of his DVDs and take note! We put on André Live in Australia and watched it, second time for me. It was just so amazing again! I had one of those moments of inspiration and thought, I’m sure I can do something! So I started creating a fan website for Kiwi New Zealand fans. I got really into it, and finished it on the following Friday, the 22nd. So now it’s online! I hope to continue it, by creating a Stories & Photos page and an About Me page too.

There are a lot of New Zealand fans of André Rieu, and we are all going to give André and his JSO an awesome time in NZ. It’s going to be exciting for me and other New Zealand fans leading up to the concerts.

A bit about me…

Well, I’m in year 11 (form 5) at Bethlehem College, my school in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. I’m a very musical person, and absolutely love the music of years ago. My biggest musical talent is singing. – I’ve been singing jazz songs for a few years now, I can’t get enough of the good old jazz numbers by Frankie, Lady Ella and more. I am currently studying: History, Drama, and Information Technology, and hope to make a career as a singer.

Isn't it wonderful when our younger generation find joy in Andre Rieu's music?
And I thought it so cute when Reuben said he looked at our site and got ideas from us.

I wish him the best with his singing career.  Could be another Helmut Lotti?  Daniel O'Donnell?  Only this time it will be Reuben Simpson?

My best to you in your singing career, I hope it's everything you wish it to be. Sounds like you have a lot of talent and a lot of desire, and that's most important in all you do.
I checked out your website and it's fantastic! Your home and the beaches are wonderful.
My compliments to your mother and father, your family is beautiful. Thanks for sharing Reuben, come back and visit us often! Tell us how you are doing.

Congratulations on your new website Reuben, I wish you much pleasure & success. My goodness, you certainly put it together quickly. It is always such a delight when a young person, such as yourself, can appreciate good music. Welcome to the world of Andre Rieu fans, and as you know they are all around the world. We will all be watching as Andre comes to your country again. I have no doubt there are legions of fans there too. If you sing jazz, maybe someday we will see your name in the headlines too.

    Well done Reuben.
I'll be looking for your name up in lights in years to come.
Isn't it amazing the affect Andre has on people? "Energetic and happy" describes it well.
Following on from Sally's comment, have you seen Helmut Lotti and Daniel O'Donnell? You would no doubt like them too. They seem to be universal favourites with Andre fans.

Wow! Hey folks! Great to read all your comments! They were such a pleasure to read . Andre Rieu has made such an impact on my life. It sure does beat todays music by far!! I'm soooo looking forward to his first ever concerts in NZ this October.

Now I have to be quite perfectly honest, I can't say I'm at all familiar with Daniel O'Donnell or Helmut Lotti, but I'm open to hear about them. Are they musicians too? Meanwhile, never know!... Might see me in lights in years to come indeed! I've always thought about my musical career and thought, you never know, maybe even ole Andre himself might spot me! I'll have to upload a video of me singing for you all

Thanks for the meantime for all your lovely congratulations and lovely comments. These past two weeks since I uploaded the site has been just so exciting! I'm looking forward to continuing maintaining it.
    Bye for now

      Hi Mr. Reuben Simson,
Very nice to hear that you are starting a New Zealand "Andre Rieu" fan site-good luck! I personally am not a Jazz fan Per se, but do like various types; since I live in the USA, I am a fan of American Country` Music! as well as "Crossover Classical" and of coarse Andre Rieu's waltzes. Please Upload Some of your music, that is if you are allowed too! we would love to hear it partner! I think you would like Helmut Lotti--since he has been a "Elvis Inpersonator"--but with a little higher voice. The DVD of Helmut Lotti I think you would like is: "From Russia With love" fantastic video! And The DVD called "Out Of Africa" but I had a hard time finding that one. Check out E-bay Australia--you might find a copy of them. Real nice talking to you. I wish you all the best Mr.Reuben Simpson in your career. Sianara P.S.--I am a big fan of
your Russian born singer: Yulia Townsend--One good looking lady!
