Andre Rieu, will for the rest of his life be known as a Musketeer d'Armagnac.
He was appointed by the French leader of the order "La Compagnie"

It is fitting that the cememony  took place in Andre Rieu's Castle, de Torentjes at the base of the St. Petersberg.  Known as the fourth Musketeer, Charles de Batz-Castelmore had his last breakfast at the castle on June 25, 1673 just before he was killed during the battle at the Tongerse gate.

In an acceptance speech, Andre explained the historical importance of his kitchen which at the time of the filming was filled with a camera crew from ZDF, German TV.

As a Musketeer d'Armagnac Andre Rieu is expected to contribute to the culture of a region in France known as the Cascogne.  Rieu hopes the good contacts with France will help to fulfill his big wish to do a concert under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, similar to concerts at the Schonbrunn Castle in Vienna.  Rieu will perform in France after the summer holidays and has sent letters to the Mayor Of Paris and the Minister of Culture but has not yet received permission.

I remember seeing a movie of the Three Muskateers, can't remember who played D'Artagnan, but Charlie Sheen was in it.I was looking at a picture of a 1672 French musketeer costume, trying to imagine Andre wearing that. hmmm could be.

Shirley, my first 3 Musketeers movie was with Gene Kelly, I thought it was better than the second one, Gene Kelly played D´Artagnan, the one that died in Maastricht and had his last breakfast at the castle from André. But as far as I know, Alexander Dumas made the story up, the Musketeers existed and were the special protectors of the King, but the 4 in the book most likely not historical.

Jeanine Ann, interviews are no concerts and not interesting if you do not understand them.

Speaking of the Musketeers, our vet said she named her cat (the office kitty) after one of the Musketeers, his name is Aramis.  Thought that was funny.

                 "Lost Heroes"

Ocean bird, I wish to tell you
A story from a long time ago.
Oh ocean bird, I wish to tell you
That sad old song you have to know.

      America, so many heroes
They left their homes and crossed the waves.
America, you sent your young boys
Oh ocean bird, how must I tell you
That sad old song? They came to save us!
      America, so many heroes
They lost their lives and filled the graves.

      America, we love your heroes
      America, we are your friends
      America, well always love you
And keep you in our hearts and hands

      America, so many heroes
They left their homes and crossed the waves.
America, you die of grief now
Oh ocean bird, how must I tell you
That sad new song? They are in pain now!
      America, we share your sorrow,
      America, let hope remain...
