Andre in the Artic? Andre Rieu Ponders A New Concert Location

At home Andre can wear a nice coat or jacket
But at the North Pole, What will he wear?
Andre Rieu with his violin travels all about the whole world. The Arctic is a place the Limburger has never visited. If it were up to Andre, that is soon to change.
The musician thinks seriously about a concert in the North Pole. He wants this stunt to draw attention to the melting of the ice sheets and climate change.
Environmental organization Greenpeace, taking action or sitting for a Rieu Concert. "His fans know little of this problem. He may have more people in this category at the height of the climate issue."
The trip can still be an expensive joke for Rieu and his seventy-plus Orchestra. A return ticket costs on average € 35,000 per person.
"Andre Rieu concert on Arctic plant '
(Reuters) - Andre Rieu thinks seriously about a concert on the North Pole. This is the world famous violinist and orchestra leader from Maastricht bringing attention to the melting of the ice sheets and climate change. "My father is very concerned about environmental issues," says his son Pierre, Thursday in De Telegraaf.
The plan fits in the quest for the holding of Rieu to a more progressive, green image ", says Pierre in the newspaper. Thus, whether the company can run on solar energy. Also, Andre Rieu and his wife already involved in a project in Africa Burkina Faso, where trees are replanted.
In addition, says Pierre. "My father would prefer to play on the moon, but this is a more viable option.
Observations are there too. If there is a risk that the trip to the Arctic is harmful to the environment and the cost of travel is very high. The journey lasts twelve days and costs 35 thousand euro per person. Rieu employes the company of seventy people. If the concert continues, comes to be, the audience will consist of the local population. (They don’t know us Andre Rieu Fans do they? I am certain many would show up from around the world.)

Wouldn't that be interesting? Can you imagine a Christmas concert there, with real reindeer? Well it wouldn't surprise me if Andre did it. If he can dream it he can do it! It's worked before.

Oh Gosh, that would be beautiful. I have never fallen for the sky is falling shouters of Carbon Footprints, but ... I have always believed we are harming our precious earth and we need to do what we can to have our planet be healthy. I worry daily about polar bears, they are losing their habitat. If Andre helps, more people will become aware of the issues.

Well I was just reading an article stating that El Nino has returned and as we know that can affect the climates of the whole world. You are right, we are all in this together.

I'm really impressed with this!! I feel really good about it and hope that it works out.
Yes, those poor polar bears, I feel so sorry for them. I'm sure there are other animals and plants that are affected as well.
Leave it to André to come up with this beautiful idea.
André Rieu giving a concert at the Arctic Circle, I believe this definitely would draw attention to the melting ice shelves and the climate change.
You are right Sally and Shirley that we are all in this together, and whatever it takes to get the world leaders and all concerned, involved, it needs to be done. It's easy to sit back and let someone else do the worrying, but when it gets down to it, it's going to affect every single person on the planet.

I agree Marlene, a lot of us sit back and let someone else do it- whatever it may be. Wouldn't that be exciting to see a concert in that area. Of course the logistics of getting there are huge. But I would love it.

How amazing.
Andre was talking about this while in Sydney last November. I thought he was joking!
He was being interviewed on the Morning Show and said he'd received an email suggesting he build an ice castle and perform at the North Pole. Andre was laughing but Pierre was shaking his head...and looking worried.
I love your comment Sally (They don’t know us Andre Rieu Fans do they? I am certain many would show up from around the world.)
How true.

A concert at the North or South Pole would be a cold concert, filled with warm hearts.
hmmmm, I wonder if Andre realizes the possible effects the cold temperatures might have on his violin. Tuning it in sub zero temperature would be a new experience for Andre. I wonder if the violin could stand up to the sub zero temperatures without being damaged, seriously?
Surely the sub zero temperatures would alter everything about the violin, like where to place your fingers on the strings to get the note you want.
How would you play any musical instrument with cold fingers that could become frost bite if exposed to cold termperatures for even a short period of time.
Andre, if you plan a concert, you'll want to bring along a lot of heaters with a huge thermal output.
As cold as it could be, it could be even colder if there it is a windy day.
I wonder if there is an indoor concert arena or some other indoor facility
