Andre Rieu, Open Air Concert Vrijthof Square, Maastricht
Some of the photos in this review show Andre filming an episode for Flikken Maastricht, a kind of cop show where the police are trying to prevent Andre from being attacked or kidnapped. I believe this was taking place during the first concert on Friday. There was some audience participation so it must have been fun. The following was posted on a site by Vlindeke. I found this site, contacted them and asked permission to use article and photos. The person kindly gave us permission for which we thank them.

Last year a friend asked me to join her visiting a concert of André Rieu in Arena Amsterdam.
The so called World Stadium Tour, with a copy of Castle Schönbrunn, Vienna. Approx. 650 people involved in this show!
I didn’t know what to think about it, but after this marvelous night I could only say ‘what an event!!’
After this concert we made plans to join an open air concert, on the Vrijthof Square in Maastricht, hometown of violinist and conductor André Rieu.
Being very keen (tickets are sold out in ‘no time’) we managed to book tickets (in October 2008) for July 10th 2009, row 8.
Booked a bed & breakfast as well and forgot about it.

On Friday July 10th we drove to Maastricht, it was a rainy day. We checked in at our bed & breakfast “Au Lion d’Or” and had a lovely lunch at ‘R”o”zemarijn’.
After (a late and long
) lunch we walked to the Vrijthof and were watching a rehearsal of the concert. At night we were in the audience of the first of five open air concerts. Difficult to describe, you’ve to experience it yourself! We had a great time!!!

Andre's getting to be quite a TV star isn't he? "Neighbors" and "Cops", what next?
How about "Andre Goes To Hollywood" or "Desperate Housewives" or "Andre on Sesame Street".
you know, something over here. He needs to be on something besides PBS.
I thank Vlindeke for sharing with us. What a kind thing to do.
Do you think Andre will soon have HIS OWN tv show? If we could have this broadcast around the world, that would be Great!
I've enjoyed reading this and seeing all the wonderful pictures. Thank you Vlindeke for the wonderful pictures and for sharing!!
