AUGUST 2009 GUESTBOOK
FOR FANS AND FRIENDS AROUND THE WORLD
For Andre Rieu Information And Heavenly Music!
Hello Everyone, can someone tell me what his last comment is about. He mentioned count down to 11 hrs 15 min. What is that all about, did I miss something somewhere?
Thanks, Jean
Hi Jean, I do not know as of this moment but I am hoping to find out. Will be posted here.
New messages from Andre on Twitter plus a photo of Ivan. See "The Daily Rieu" page.
I was thinking maybe the 11 hours might refer to the first showing of the Maatricht concert on ZDF. After that it shouldn't be too long before the dvd is released.
You are probably right Shirley, that is tonight!
I see I spelled Maastricht wrong, oh well, I suppose I'll get it from the "police" of spelling!
Oh I have done that myself, and so many times. Typos and mis-spellings. Just remember: The people that matter don't mind, and the ones who mind, don't matter.
Your right Miss sally, we all make mistakes in spelling, as you know i am not the best speller in the world-but it's the thought that counts isn't it?. Hey Miss Sally? Have you seen Carmon Monarcha's new web site look? very nice-? Is she advertising her new music album on the main page or what?, or have you heard if it has been released as of late? Keep up the good work Seniorita. Kyle S.
YES, FIRST SHOWING OF THE MAGIC OF MUSIC, MAASTRICHT III ON ZDF.
After just having a piece of the best watermelon ever I've got melons on my mind! I'm going looking for a melon festival somewhere & this is the month to do it. The farmer's markets have been full of produce but I'm a melon head.
Just like listening to Andre's music, food for the gods.
I wish everyone a fantastic month of August! I hope that everything that comes your way is happy, musical, and all anticipation is enjoyable.
Ivan is adorable!! I'm sure there are some proud parents, grandparents and family! Thank you André for taking a fantastic picture of him and sharing!
Hi Jeanine Ann, Thanks for the information. I didn't know about the TV show. Are you from the US or Austrailia?
I am having a hard time getting last year's DVD from Maastricht here in Canada. Who knows when this years will become available. I know the North American system is different from Europe but I don't know why it takes so long to get them here. I only got last years from Australia last month.
Thanks again, Jean
Hello again All, many thanks for answering my question. There was no doubt to his success, I can't imagine anyone, young or old, that would not enjoy Andre's concerts. He is so happy and alive, he has to brighten everyones days not matter what.
Cheers, Jean
I LOVE YOUR HEAVENLY PICTURE OF ANDRE FOR THE AUGUST GUESTBOOK/FAN PAGE. THANKS, IT'S VERY CALMING. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE RELEASE OF THE NEW DVD.
Since my husband Terry and I saw Andre and the JSO in concert at Subiaco Oval in Perth, Western Australia, we are now huge fans of his and the JSO. Their music is very entertaining and we love nothing more than to sit back of an evening and enjoy one of his many DVD's or listen to one of his CD's. It was extremely relaxing and entertaining. If we were asked what our most favourite concert has been, we would now be telling everyone Andre would be on top of our list. He is a perfectionist when it comes to playing the violin and the JSO are the same. They bring magic into the homes of many people who love this kind of music. Many thanks to you all for the wonderful entertainment you have given so many people over the last few years. It is very much appreciated.
Our love to you all and keep up the good work.
Happy August, everyone. It has finally cooled down here so we are all much happier. We don't usually get temps over 100 here, so 3 in a row was very uncomfortable. It was very hard on my dogs too. I am so looking forward to the new DVD. There is nothing like a new DVD by André to look forward to.
Hello everybody, did you see the message from Andre's Twitter? He is coming to Brazil!!!
YES!YES! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!
Oh my, it's too good to be real
Adriana - Blumenau/Brazil
You sound a little excited Adriana!!
I know one thing for sure...until you see André in Brazil for the first time, the anticipation will increase daily, and the excitement will grow daily!!
So, be ready for an exciting time.
A new message from Andre on Twitter - he is going to Brazil!!! See "The Daily Rieu" page.
I know, I couldn't sleep last night. I believe he will do the same he did in Australia. Now it's just wait to know the details.
I'm really excited.
Hugs Marlene
Adriana - Blumenau/Brazil
Adriana I am so happy for you. The anticipation is as exciting (almost : ) as the actual concert!! Big hugs to you.
New message from Andre on Twitter - The DVD is finished!!! See The Daily Rieu page.
Ooooh, the anticipation is mounting and is almost as fun (not quite) as the DVD.
André knows how to do it alright.
With a great deal of sadness I have to report that "Sam" the little Koala who survived the tragic bushfires in Victoria earlier this year has died this afternoon from complications.
Sam became "Symbol" of the bushfires when she was found by a volunteer and rescued from the fires but had very severe burns. Sam's passing after a six month struggle is a timely reminder of the trauma and struggles so many of our fellow Aussies are still enduring on a daily basis. It is so easy to forget when the camera's turn off.
Rest in peace now "Sammy"
I'm saddened to hear of this. The picture of Sam & David was branded into my mind. It seemed to have touched the world. A picture of hope, survival & compassion amongst so much tragedy. I'm sure all those who cared for her are very heartbroken. I wonder about Bob, her companion, how he is coping with her absense. This is just one more reminder of the devastation & loss of so many during that horrible time.
Oh I am so very sorry to hear about Sam. I remember him so well from the bushfire tragedy. What a shame and that is just one of the losses that we know about. I am saddened too.
This made me cry. I am heartbroken for this dear little Koala who struggled so valiantly. Sam is still a symbol of the hardships and struggles so many are still going through due to the bushfire. We should all be thankful for the good we have, and help those who are still in need.
I am so sorry to hear about "Sammy"! I have thought of her many times since the fires and wondered how she was doing. I send heartfelt thanks to those who rescued her, cared for her and kept her in their hearts and minds all this time.
Oh my...this is such terrible news. She was such a sweetie.
Such a tramatic time...those fires. I hope no one ever has to go through that again.
SAM JOINS PHAR LAP
BUSHFIRE legend Sam the koala will be preserved and displayed in the Melbourne Museum as a symbol of February's devastating fires.
Premier John Brumby confirmed that Sam's carers had accepted an offer from the museum to display the koala, who died during surgery on Thursday.
The body of the champion racehorse Phar Lap is also on show at the museum, but it is not known if Sam will be displayed in the same vicinity.
Mr Brumby said having Sam in the museum would ensure her story and the story of the bushfires was told to the millions of Victorians and interstate and overseas visitors who come to the museum.
"We will never forget the people and communities affected by those fires and we will never forget the courage and kindness of the firefighters and volunteers who helped them," he said.
"The story of Sam will help us to understand and remember the devastation that the events of February 2009 had on the people of this state and their extraordinary determination to recover and move forward with their lives."
Sam became a symbol of hope amid the ashes after extraordinary images of her drinking from CFA firefighter David Tree's water bottle were flashed around the world.
The picture, which was sold through the Herald Sun, raised $500,000 for the CFA and the Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter, which cared for Sam as she recovered from her burns.
Sam overcame her bushfire injuries but could not beat the terrible disease chlamydia.
A spokeswoman for Mr Brumby said the details of how Sam will be preserved and displayed were not yet known.
Robin Hirst, Museum Victoria director of exhibitions, said it was vital Sam join Phar Lap at the museum.
"She is associated with a very important image from those terrible times."
Kathleen Cuthbertson
HeraldSun.
NB. Phar Lap is the Immortal Australian Racehorse from the 1930's. He is fully preserved and on display at the museum.
This is somehow a very fitting memorial.Sam won the hearts of people all over the world, for all the above reasons.I have even gotten e-mails with Sam's picture, from people who hadn't even realized about the terrible fires in Australia so I would send them a link to the Herald Sun & so many then would send in donations to help. We are, after all, tied together, when tragedy stikes anywhere we do what we can to help. I think Sam should have a place of honor.
I know I just recently heard! That's no good at all. That video of 'Sammy' drinking the water was truly amazing.
Hi Reuben
Everyone is very sad for poor little Sam.
It's nice someone thought to immortalise him for the museum and people's memories.
how would you go about starting a fan club suggestions please
How sad to hear this news about the little "Koala", and the hardships our Aussie friends still deal with. I keep you close in my heart always.
Wait until you see the cute photos of Grandpa Andre and Ivan together!! See "The Daily Rieu"!!
OMG, what a cute picture of Ivan and André together!! Ivan is so adorable.
Thank you André for sharing this happy moment of you and your grandson! Thank you Marjorie for taking such a beautiful picture of Ivan and his Opa together, you must be very proud of your new grandson!!
What a precious photo of Andre and Ivan.
Enjoy these moments Marjorie and Andre, as these times shall fly by so fast. This is a wonderful time for Marjorie; as her beloved Andre is away with all the Concerts, angelic Ivan can help fill those lonely hours with his love and bonding with his "new Oma". What a wonderful gift their son and daughter-in-law have given them.
I watched the trailer of André's new DVD on Youtube and it looks like another great concert. When is it supposed to go on sale.
Hey guys!
Its been a long time! I have been packed with work latley, i still have been reading all of the entries and the comments! I havent forgot about any of you guys! I am very excited about the new dvd, and Andre's new grandson!
Jeanine ann, hows the violin comming? Thanks guys!
-Jeff
Hello Jeff, missed you! I am still playing or should I say trying to play the violin. I am playing songs now in first position mostly. I will get there eventually but it is not easy. Thanks for asking. I must start on scales for the higher positions. Take care
New message from Andre on Twitter. See "Daily Rieu" page!!
Of course I will buy this dvd, but maybe not be in a hurry since I've already seen so many videos of it there won't be many surprises. In a way it kind of spoils it for me to see so much before the actual release. I guess I'm just one of the few who feel that way. It's my fault though, I should not look beforehand.
After watching the trailer I cannot wait to get it. I have seen many videos also but I want to see everything. I try to look at the videos at teasers for the big event! There we get the full songs plus all the chatter that Andre does so well. Hugs
hahahha,Jeanine Ann, I knew you would be one who would not agree with me!
Carmen's New CD - coming in November. More details to follow.
That's too exciting. I love Carmen's
warm voice and style of singing.
Looking forward to this one. I have to buy this or my husband would never forgive me! Carmen has stolen his heart.
Hi Shirley, this CD will not be available until November 29 according to Arie. He tells me that she is still working on her new website. He also does not have the content of the CD as of this moment. Will keep you up to date as I get the information.
Thanks Jeanine Ann,I'm glad she is finally making her own cd. No matter what the content we are sure to enjoy it. Arie knows how much my husband enjoys her for sure.
Hello "girls", thank you for putting a new slant into the purchase of the new CD/DVD's ~ I have always stated my frustrations at NOT being able to view the trailers OR not being able to hear the vocal/music available on the various sites ~ I believe that being a
disadvantage for me, has proven to be a
a wonderful advantage for me NOW, as I
have not seen nor heard any of the up-coming "new" material. Sooo, when I do make my purchases, I will truly be in for many surprises. Yippeeee for meee.
New message and photo from Andre on Twitter. See "Daily Rieu" page!!
Another message from Andre on Twitter. See "Daily Rieu" page!!
Photo of the day. Thanks to Simone!
Mr McDreamy, a "dream within a dream".
What would you be thinking that he would be thinking? or is he really thinking or just feeling? That is the question!
VERY nice ! Another yummy photo to
make my day.
I love this photo, it's absolutely perfect for a photo of the day!
mmmmm!
Please could someone tell me what dvd or cd Tulips from Amsterdam is on and is it under a different name or language Thanks
Hello Patricia, sorry it's taken so long to respond to your question! I checked all my cd's and the only three that I could find "Tulips from Amsterdam" on were:
"Hollands Glorie", (2001), "Singing and Dancing-The André Rieu Party Album" with the Salon Orchester Maastricht (2004), and "Die große Strauß Gala & Carnival" with the Salon Orchester Maastricht(2004),cd's.
There could be more cd's with this song on them, but I didn't find any.
Hope this helps!
Another message from Andre on Twitter. See Daily Rieu page!
You will find Tulips From Amsterdam on the Homecoming DVD (2005) and Live in Maastricht II DVD (2008). It is the third song in the medley called La Donna e Mobile.
Hello there.
Does anyone saw the male choir at the Open Airs in Maastricht? I only saw some videos and don't know if they are there from the beginning or if they came in at the middle of the concert.
Does someone know?
Hugs
Adriana/Brazil
Op 4 september in het Amsterdams Arena zal mijn moeder Soelinah van Poeteren-Forner, eindelijk van dichtbij mogen genieten van André Rieu. Ze krijgt namelijk een toegangskaart voor haar verjaardag.
Jammer genoeg zonder mijn vader.
Joyce
We are an ancient couple. 92 & 86, we love the concerts, possess many DVD's.
Love to see the concert in Brisbane but could not handle the crowd. Andre you have added enormoous pleasure into the twilight of our lives. God Bless!!
Hello Andrew, you both are not ancient - you are just young at heart! I hope you can get to the concerts this year in Brisbane. May God bless you both with good health so you can enjoy Andre for a long time. Come back to see us. Hugs
Hi Andrew and Mrs Andrew
It's a pity Australia took so long to hear about Andre. Thank heavens for Ovation Channel finally introducing him to us.
Just think, we could have been enjoying him for 30 years, not just three or four.
Oh well, at least we know him now.
Hello Andrew, we all feel ancient at one time or another. Age is just numbers on a piece of paper anyway.
You sound like you have a good sense of humor. I know people too, who love André but not the crowds. If you are happy watching a dvd at home, then that's what you should do!
We sure would like to hear from you often, so stop by and say a few words once in a while!
André has added enormous pleasure to many people for sure.
Another message from Andre - he has picked blackberries!! Photo on Daily Rieu page!
Another photo and message from Andre on Twitter. See Daily Rieu page!!
I recently discovered the JSO on Youtube, when searching for Ravels Bolero.
What a brilliant performance and rendition, of one of my favourite pieces of music.
The sound of the strings on entry was superb.
Clearly, the musicians were enjoying themselves.
Alan, a new fan!
ps, who is the smiling string player in the blue dress?
Alan, if you're referring to the gal in the front row in the first seat on the right side, her name is Linda Custers, and it's her mother, Nelly, who is in charge of making all the dresses.
Gee whiz, it is soo nice to see some new~fresh Andre fans joining us. I send a warm "Welcome" to Andrew and also to Mrs. Andrew. I see Alan is jumping on board to join our happy family ~ Helllo to all ~ we are certainly happy to see our Andre family growing. As you will see, Jeanine Ann, Sally and the rest of the shining, happy fans are all here to help, answer, provide all pertinent info on 'our' Maestro and the multi-talented JSO. So very happy to see that 'we' are all interested in the same
same "man and his music". Jeanine Ann & our Andre family IS THE BEST!!!!!!!
Again, "W-E-L-C-O-M-E"......
Another message with photo from Andre!! See Daily Rieu page!
How cute. It makes me think of my 2 shelties with their toys - a stuffed lamb and a teddy bear.
Do you think Andre will trade me a jar of his Blackberry Jam for a jar of my homemade "Vegemite" !!!???
Old vegemite or new vegemite?
Is nothing sacred?
Now they've changed the recipe since it's been bought by an overseas company.
Just guessing of course, but, I don't think so.
What in the world in Vegemite? I had never heard of it til just recently.
Ewwwwww lol I've had a small sample, and think it took a year to the taste out of my mouth.
I am really not sure what it is Marilyn. All I know is Andre does not like it. I think it is a breakfast thing.
I've read about it & all I know is it looks like axel grease. It has to be a strictly Australian thing! There is a video on you tube that shows some American girls trying it and the look on their faces tells me a lot!
I'm with you, Shirley, André's blackberry jam is the way to go.
Vegemite is a spread, not unlike promite and marmite (but nicer) that has been made in Australia for as long as anyone can remember.
It's probably an acquired taste but is given to children here from when they first start to eat bread - would be the first spread every mother gives their baby. It's always been promoted as being very healthy and full of vitamin B.
Australians often take a jar when going to work overseas for any length of time because we're all so used to it and the taste is probably addictive.
Just a thin scrape is delicious on fresh bread with butter. People not used to it try to use too much - as if it was jam or peanut butter. That is definitely not a good taste, it's very strong.
I've heard it described as 'looks like axel grease and tastes like rusty nails' and that's probably pretty accurate.
Anyway, it has recently been purchased from Kraft Australia by an American company and they're already fiddling with it. Are running a competition to find a new name and are starting to make it as a creamy spread that has to be kept in the fridge.
That's what I meant yesterday when I said "is nothing sacred"?
Where are you Grayeme? Come and help me here.
You have done an excellent job defending our beloved "Vegemite". The only thing is though...that the new one is not going to replace the original, it will still be Vegemite. No one would be game enough to touch that.!!! The new one is just a milder version and by the taste of it, I think it is mixed with cream cheese. Actually I don't mind it. The new one is aimed at the export market as the US banned the original over something to do with added Foliants or something. To pass through this life without the pleasure of Vegemite on your taste buds is almost incomprehendable. !!!
Isn't it amazing how our taste buds develop? I saw a clip of 3 young women, cousins, all eating Vegemite. 2 girls were born in the US, the other in Australia. The 2 US girls, 1 couldn't even swallow it, the other barely got it down. The Aussie cousin, had put it on toast or something and loved it, having grown up with it. It was really cute.
I think it must be no different that someone who grows up eating liver or bratwurst and those who don't.
It really startles your taste buds.
Babies and young children love it on bread or toast, so do cats and dogs.
We used to put a touch of it on our children's dummies when they were babies and hard to settle. Worked like a charm.
Well I might try it if I had a bucket of Fuzzy Navels to wash it down with!
Not if he's as smart as I think he is!
The Happy Little Vegemite Song
We are happy little Vegemites as bright as bright can be,
We all enjoy our Vegemite for breakfast, lunch and tea,
Our mummy says we're growing stronger every single week,
Because we love our Vegemite,
We all adore our Vegemite,
It puts a rose in every cheek!
Gee this sounds very familiar Prudence. Wonder where I heard it : )
I just had a look on my jar to see what it's made from - have never really thought about it before.
Ingredients are yeast extract, salt and barley malt. I don't think there would be too many Australian homes that didn't have a jar in the cupboard. All motels and hotels have it on their breakfast menu, so if you're ever visiting here you must try it - but remember - just a thin scrape. Maybe that's why the new owners are changing it to a creamy spread - so we'll eat more.
It's Sunday morning here. Grayeme is very quiet (after starting this discussion in the first place). He must be having a sleep in.
I'd love to try some of Andre's jam. Rum in blackberry jam sounds extra good. Fancy him growing blackberries, they grow as huge bushes in paddocks here and are considered a weed. I would think he'd have well trained vines somehow.
Photo Of The Day! Found it on MySpace, thanks to Dorte from Germany.
This is somewhat similar to one I received in a magazine from a friend.
Well, I missed this "photo of the day" yesterday, but I got it this morning!
What a nice way to start my Sunday.
Photo of the day - just for Marlene. Not sure if I used this one before. I have so many : )
Jeanine Ann, it doesn't matter if it was used before or not, I'll take anything I can get!
I really, truly, don't mind sharing.
Below is a message I received from Andre's Australian Website.
If there are any Aussie fans that attended a concert in Australia last year and would like to participate in this...then let me know on the "here on the blog". I will contact you and see that it gets to them. Come on...get your name in "lights"..!!!
Dear Grayeme,
I am putting together a brand new DVD called André's Australian Adventures and I need your help! I'm looking for YOUR input for this special release. Were you at one of my concerts? Did you perhaps see me in the streets in November last year? After all...we were there for nearly one whole month! What was your most memorable moment? I will be choosing my favourite's and publishing them in the booklet of this great new 'behind-the-scenes' DVD.
If you are chosen I will also publish a photograph of you to put next to your 'Rieu-memory'. Perhaps you have a photograph of yourself with me! I had such a fantastic time in Australia and am re-living the adventure again with all the footage in the editing studio. I can't wait to read all about how YOU remember the visit!
See you all soon!
André
Now there's an interesting idea, "Andre's Australian Adventure". Will be curious to see who pops up!
Photo of the day!!
ok Jeanine Ann, I needed this this morning! You know, a smile a day keeps the doctor away!
Oh Shirley, I am sorry but I only found it around 2:00 and then I rushed home from
Starbucks and had to practice, then make dinner, etc. etc. I just love the photo!!
I agree with you on Romantic Moments Shirley, it's among my top favorites. The music is so beautiful. Romance for Clara is a very special song and I love it very much, it too, is one of my top favorites.
Two new great Andre photos from Twitter. See Daily Rieu page!!
I had to smile at the picture with Ali B, but who knows, Andre will tackle anything & we all know that Andre can rap!
Thanks! I needed that! Certainly needed something to lift my down-low down spirits. Sure needed a friendly "smile".
Could you please tell me when Andre's latest Live in Maastricht will be available in Australia.
Many thanks
Jan
Hi Jan, this is the latest from Andre on his DvD releases in Australia.
August 19 2009
My friends! I’m so thrilled to tell you of two DVD releases this month. Hopeless romantic that I am, I’ve put together for you a 5-DVD set of some of the most romantic music I’ve performed with my orchestra. It’s called “Be My Love”.
And direct from Maastricht in July this year is the DVD “Live in Maastricht – 3” full of fun and more than a few surprises!
They’ll both be available in September, so look out for them!
Photo of the Day from Twitter!
I am looking forward to my collaboration with Holiday on Ice! Foto by Roy Beusker. André
Aha! Andre on the ice. I would like to see his feet to see if he actually has his skates on.
I always knew Andre could do everything and now I know it - from the hot air balloon to the skating. Is there anything that he cannot do?? : ) I have photos of him skating in Maastricht so I figured he could skate. He also has a brilliant mind!
The man is perfect. No question about it.
For some reason, I don't seem to be getting the Daily Rieu page. Is anyone else having that problem?
Thanks
Hi Marilyn did you look under "older entries". I changed the date now so it should be a little higher up on the list. Hugs
I love the Holiday on ice photo! The colors and the smiles make it so enjoyable and André makes it perfect.
André does seem to experience many things, he's very creative and brings all this happiness to us. There's never a dull moment of wondering if there is going to be something different, because there always is something different. Does that make sense? André keeps boredom out of life and makes everything exciting, happy and allows dreaming to be a constant.
I am not much of a believer in the zodiac, but I have to say that Andre, as a Libra, seems to have many of the attributes of a Libra. Example, "Libra is the most sociable of the signs, knows how to be a charming host or hostess, seeks balance in all that it does, Artistically, tries to balance form, content, colors and elements, and for this reason can be drawn toward creative endeavors. Libra is the shuttle diplomats of the zodiac, going back and forth between the extremes until a solution is negotiated. active minds and a good command of language, have to seek ways to give their thoughts temporary respite from their never-ending movements. As the key planet of Libra, Venus is about the perception of beauty as an ideal. Here, she is the proper blend of colors, the right mix of music or the perfect poetic description of love, itself.
Libra Greatest Strength: Your grace and charm when helping others
Libra Possible Weakness: Forgetting to take care of your own needs
Doesn't this seem to fit the maestro?
Yes it does Prudence. It should also say beautiful of face and heart and soul. Hugs
Thanks Prudence for this zodiac information about Libra. My mom was born on the 2nd of October, and this fits her too, very much so. I don't necessarily follow the Zodiac either, but in many ways it seems to fit the person who was born in that certain period of time.
This explanation certainly fits what we know about André.
Andre on the ice, Andre at the North Pole & here I was, this morning, thinking it was cold at 55 degrees! This is very unusual, in August, for our neck of the woods. Gosh, where else would Andre want to go? I read maybe the moon? yikes!I was watching a video of the space shuttle, Discovery, how the crew all entered the shuttle, & how cramped up they all were, seven crew people & not an inch to spare, packed in like sardines in a can! Could Andre handle that? He couldn't take the JSO with him, so who? I guess he could go to the moon & once there play Song To the Moon. That would certainly gain world wide attention wouldn't it? Well it will be worth watching to see what plans he has in the future. I guess the sky's the limit!
