According to Billboard Magazine Rieu is the best selling male artist worldwide. This is what his manager announced Monday.
The first half of this year Rieu sold 554,242 tickets and had a turnover of 57.4 million U.S. dollars. Only Madonna (84.7 million U.S. dollars), Tina Turner (79.9 million U.S. dollars) and Britney Spears (61.5 million U.S. dollars) outsold him.
Fantastic
Rieu, who already is number 8 for touring 2008's Poll Star chart, is delighted with the news, ''It's fantastic. We have worked very hard to get as many people as possible to show that classical music can be fun.''
The last 35 years of touring for Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra has included Japan, Europe, the United States and Canada. Later this year he gives three concerts in the Netherlands.
In Billboard's Top 25 best selling tours is Bruce Springsteen with 52.3 million U.S. dollars in the seventh. Billy Joel & Elton John are eighth with 47.6 million U.S. dollars

Wonderful Entry Jeanine Ann. Thank you for all the work you do. I know how you run these through translators and then clean up the English. You deserve big applause for this work!
What a cool video to included!

gosh Jeanine Ann,I like this one too! you know, I always wonder how Andre does all that he does. when does he rest? Looking at all the Twitters & agenda it seems he's always doing something. Well maybe once in awhile he plays with the dogs or makes blackberry jam or walks in his garden. But really, doesn't it seem like he's always on the move? I wonder if he tosses & turns in his sleep?

He probably does toss and turn in his sleep : ) I think the song Perpetuum Mobile was written just for him : )

Yes, i do agree, he never rest, even in his dreams, tossing-turning, and thinking of music, and new ideas.
Like you said, we always get a surprise when we thought, he did it all already.
We just better do not under estimate him! Kati
