ANDRE RIEU: Peace Concert in the Middle East?
Peace Concert in the Middle East?
EénVandaag start the new season of The Week ... with violinist / conductor Andre Rieu. Earlier this year he has toured the U.S. and later this year he is already in Australia and New Zealand. But this weekend he is with 60 skaters from Holiday on Ice in a lifelike copy of the Vienna Schönbrunn Palace in the Amsterdam Arena.
Andre Rieu is preparing in this busy week for the two concerts and EénVandaag is taking. We follow the best selling male artist in the world during the rehearsals and in his home to his castle and in his studio in Maastricht. What drives this man who lives in a large palace attracts the world, has serious plans in the Arctic to give a concert in between and still find time to play a role in the series Cops Maastricht?
Peace Concert in the Middle East?
Andre Rieu said in the broadcast that he wants to give a concert in the Middle East. He is thinking of Egypt. "Palestinians, Israelis, they all need to come." Rieu made this statement in a business discussion with the Canadian / Egyptian singer Chantal Chamandy the entrepreneur and her husband Greg Chamandy. Rieu had also already know longer play with the idea. He hopes the good relations of the couple Chamandy to find a location in Egypt. Preferably near the pyramids.
"I mean it." Rieu, who is married to a Jewish woman, insists that he does not want to choose the conflict.
Andre Rieu (1949) began playing the violin at age five and never stopped. As a classically trained musician, he began in his father's orchestra, but soon founded his own salon orchestra that later became the Johann Strauss Orchestra.
His big breakthrough came in 1994 when he released the album Strauss and Co., showing the Shostakovich Second Waltz. The melancholic waltz was a hit. Hij speelde het nummer een jaar later in het Olympisch Stadion, tijdens de rust van Ajax - Bayern München.Sindsdien is het snel gegaan. Not only he toured Europe, but also Japan, North America, Australia and New Zealand won it by storm.
In 2006 he was at a concert in Schloss Schonbrunn in Vienna so impressed that he decided to make a replica of the Sissi Palace. Since then he travels around with what is the largest moveable scenery of the world is referred to more than 125 meter wide, 30 meter deep and 35 meter high, complete with ballroom, ice rinks, fountains.
Worldwide Rieu now has 27 million CDs and DVDs sold. Last year he was the only classical artist in the top ten of Worldwide Touring Acts state. He sold 700,000 tickets 71 shows worldwide, accounting for nearly 77 mijoen dollars and eighth place.

I agree Joy,( I love that name JOY).Andre's type of music unifies people. I can't imagine anyone feeling anything but goodwill at one of his concerts. Many have suggested he would make a great Good Will Ambassador for the entire world.

Yes, if anyone could be a Good Will Ambassador for the world, it would be André. He would be fantastic.
I was thinking also that there has been so much war and unrest in the Middle East for so long...if the peoples of that region would open their hearts and minds and listen to André's music...(what he, and all of us for that matter, wishes for, for peace and happiness)...if they would really listen to the peace that André's music does bring, then maybe they would know in their hearts and souls that peace is beautiful and there is no reason to have anything else.
"This Land Is Mine" would be a perfect theme song for the cause.

I am an ardent follower of the Maestro, however, I would like to Audition for him, when he comes to Australia. I am a Lyric Colourate, have sung Principal rolls, with Q'ld,Light Opera, Opera Queensland, Australian Opera, winner of Light Soprano Champion Australia, I have sung Operette, Gilbet and Sullivan, so you can see that my life since I was a child is singing, I graduated from the Q'ld. Conservatorium, and went from there. So if anyone can help me, I will be in your debt.
I saw the New York Concert per foxtel, loved it, but they had the choir sing thre Nuns Chorus, but they needed a Light Soprano for the solo work. That said, I am a devoted follower of the Mans wonderful music, loved the Blue Danube especially the quality slow entry WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bonjour Jill B,
Bonjour sweet friends,
Hope this finds you well...
I encourage you to visit Jordan, you will enjoy your time in Amman, Petra and dead sea also you can arrange to visit Jerusalem at the main time it only takes 1 hour by car to get there then you will be able to visit the holiest place on the earth for all religions … Yala " means go ahead in Arabic " do it and you will be my guest weather here is perfect and most of Jordanian understand and speak English " not like Shakespeare " but enough to deal with them
For sure many people know great Andre but as there is no fans club for him here in Jordan or Middle East I can't expect if there is a huge fans here or not , I have a friend from the royal family here in Jordan he told me that he attended 2 concerts for Andre.
I read an article here in the blog that Andre wants to give a peace concert in the Middle East maybe Egypt (pyramids) this would be magnificent isn’t it?!! I believe it will be such like "Thousand and One Nights" stories
If he gives a concert here in Jordan " Petra " for example I will ask all friends here in the blog to come and stay at my house thought I don’t live in Castle but there is enough rooms to stay all together … I hope so
Have a great time such like you ..
Lots of love
