ANDRE RIEU The Last Rose of Summer in Concert

The most beautiful last rose of summer 2009 could not have been spent any better than with André Rieu. Close to 5000 fans came to see the Charmer from Maastricht.  The JSO took time to play on Wednesday before the Dresden crowd as the fans celebrated with the most famous Dutch Violinist of all time – for his 30 Years on Stage Anniversary and his 60th Birthday coming soon and all the hits of his ever-increasing career.

At exactly 20 O’clock Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra marched through the crowd to the stage.  After nearly 20 minutes, the last of the fans streamed into the hall, whereby Rieu raised an eyebrow: “You are late, you came by bus from Holland?”  Big Laughs!  Later Andre Rieu asked who was from Dresden and barely a few raised their hands, instead up came flags waiving from Danes, Brazilians and so forth.  Rieu has a global presence and was quite amazed.

Playing for two hours one hit after another, whether from “Carmen” or “My Fair Lady”, Andre Leon Marie Nicolas Rieu gave to his crowd every sumptuous arrangement he could give.  Bliss flooded the room, the jubilant sound of the Tenors and Sopranos as well as Lehar waltzes added to other Kings. (Strauss) Also a heartbreaking rendition of “Titanic” soundtrack, “My Heart Will Go On” was played.

Andre Rieu has made appearances in Dresden for ten years.  This time he gave his supporters the feeling that the visit was individual and made each fan happy.  For he not only played music, but gave advice and help in life. In the 30 years he did not stage a day's illness. "You know why? My heart beats in three-four time", chatted Rieu and revealed his recipe:" Three times daily - a waltz - said Rieu with a smile that could not be topped.

Andre Rieu returns to Dresden on January 19, 2010.

Very nice article! Thank you Moderator Prudence.
I think this article brings out André's love of music and his fantastic personality.
I've always heard that when you are doing something you really love, when you are happy, and when you have an incredible postive attitude, then life rewards you with the same.
I believe that André is proof of this.
