Andre Rieu Sydney Concert October 2009
The concert was just wonderful!
Andre was in fine form-as always. Andre and the JSO played Intermezzo Sinfonico that was very beautiful as their third piece as it set a more intimate atmosphere for what was a large stadium. Carla and Suzan were not there so Mirusia sang a couple of songs that Suzan usually sings. They also did Carmen as their second piece with the bull chasing the lady in red down the aisle which my 15 year old daughter found most amusing. We noticed her sitting 3 rows in front of us on her own about 45 minutes before the start of the concert so we knew that was coming!
The JSO ladies performed the clog dance which was also lots of fun.
During the encore, Dame Edna was a guest and she was really funny saying that she and Andre were getting married and also breaking Andre's Stradivarius by accidentally dropping it on the floor. The banter between them was very cleverly written and very entertaining. Andre also played a duet with Dame Edna's grandson (who also played the violin) -they played Hungarian Rhapsody. Andre always seems to encourage the children with their music and that is such a just one of so many good qualities that Andre shares with others.
The concert was very uplifting and so much fun - nobody wanted it to end.

Christine, I really loved to read about your experience.Sounds like a great concert. I always loved the bull & the lady in the red dress. When I first saw it I thought I'll never wear red to a concert. haha. I think the children who have a part in the concerts are really special too.Little Akim was always one of my favorites. I'm glad you got your story sent in.

Dear Christine, fabulous photos! Did you take any pictures of Carmen Monarcha singing 'Earth Song' by any chance? I was at the dress rehearsal A Day With Andre,and have a photo of Carmen and the children on stage singing Earth Song. I do not know if you can see your daughter, but you are welcome to a copy of the photo.How can I get it to you?

I do have quite a bit of video footage of the concert and I do have most of Earth Song. What side of Carmen was your daughter standing when you watch from the audience? I am quite happy to mail you a copy on a DVD. It is just amateur video but is exciting while waiting for the professional version to come out.

Dear Jeanine, thank you so much for posting. Unfortunately the girls in the Maastricht photo are a dutch choir, not the Australian Girls Choir who performed with Andre in Sydney.

Oh Sylvia, I am sorry. When you said "Earth Song" I thought you meant when Carmen sang it in Maastricht. I didn't know you meant Sydney although that does make more sense. I am sorry. Hugs

I really enjoyed the concernt on Friday
Andre never fails to execute an unforgettable performance together with the JSO orchestra,The Platin Tenors and the three beautiful sopranos
it was nothing short of magical. Carmen's rendition of The Earth Song with the children was just fabulous!!
When are tickets on sale for next year's concert????

So glad you enjoyed the concert. Andre's concerts are always magical. I saw Maastricht 3 and I agree with you about Carmen singing "Earth Song" - she was great.
Andre will return to Australia next year but no dates are available but there should be some information by the end of October. Please check with us as often as you can. Hugs

Help please! Would anybody know if and when a DVD of Andre's Sydney concert of Fri 16 Oct will be available? We attended and really enjoyed this wonderful event. Andre himself, his music, musicians and singers were all just magnificent. Can't wait to see this concert again. Andre forever!

Thank you for your comment and info regarding next year's concert. I am still on high from Friday's magical performance and the tought of having to wait for another year for Andre to return is somewhat rather sad and too long to wait. In the meantime I ghave to keep on watching his DVD's and listen to his enchanting music.

Le concert d'Octobre 2009 est tout simplement majestueux!
Je l'ai vu récemment diffusé sur la chaîne câblée RTL9 et j'en recherche aujourd'hui la vidéo!
