Andre Rieu's Birthday Party SA Friendship Group

ANDRE'S 60TH BIRTHDAY PARTY, held at the home of Kaye and John Neale.

From 4.30 last Saturday, Oct 3, our South Australian Friendship Group celebrated Andre's 60th in style.

Our guests were asked to bring a plate of both savoury and sweets and to wear something orange, the theme for the night. What we ended up with an incredible feast and a sea of orange. Our group outdid themselves in all respects. I think the prize for the most inventive would have to be Robert Rutten, who came in huge yellow clogs and an orange turban and a plate of musical lamingtons, in the shape of violins and musical notes, made by Carmel, Delma or Geraldine. The award for the best mode of transport, has to go to Honey and Peter, who came to our shindig in a Caddie. One has to agree, our group are a pretty classy lot. Hey, if it's alright for AR to arrive in Ramsey Street in a stretch limo, it's alright for our elite guests to arrive in style in Loretta St.

We began the evening in the company of the Great One, outside in the enclosed verandah until the cold of the evening induced all but the hearty inside. I can't possibly understand why. Perhaps it had something to do with the food ladened table, a roaring fire and DVD's playing all night.

Around 7, we braved the elements and went back out to the verandah for the lighting of candles on both the tables and the birthday cake. After I made a short speech and gave Kaye a bottle of red as thanks for the use of her home and her and John's wonderful hospitality, a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" spilled out into the still night air.

Once again, we went back into the warmth of the house for the cutting of the cake and more eating, if that was possible and a decent dose of Andre, the JSO and the vocalists, both on screen and in situ.

Many of our guest came from the other side of town and had a long trek home, therefore we had a mass exodus at about 8.30, but not before I had a sit inside THE car. Whoa!

On arrival, I asked everyone to sign a birthday card for Andre, in which I have included some of our photos, a photo of our members at our last lunch, a letter and a copy of the news article. Margaret Sims is meeting HIM at the Tuesday 27 meet and greet and she is going to, hopefully, give it to him, if not, then probably Kirsten, or even my best friend Johann. Margaret has a fabulous gift of her own to give Andre. She has had a beautifully framed tapestry done of his head. (that does not sound right). It's been done in sepia and cream and looks absolutely amazing. I hope she can have her photo done with Andre whilst holding it, or better still, presenting it to him.

The night was a huge success. Everyone had a ball. The birthday boy may not have been with us in person, but he most certainly was with us in spirit. Thank you everyone for helping to make it such a memorable evening.

Some Pre-Concert Activities. . .

PRE-CONCERT DINNER
For those joining us for the pre-concert dinner, don't forget the meal begins at 5p.m.

Our next luncheon is Monday Nov 2. Don't forget any photos you may have, especially those who are lucky enough to be going back stage and having their photos taken with the Maestro.

To you all. Have the greatest time at whatever concerts you may be attending. I'm sure you are all counting off the days, as we are.

Love to all
Lyndall and Robert.

Isn't this a wonderful idea!!  I love these friendship groups and I wish we could all do something like this.

I am trying to get the names for the photos so you will know who everyone is.  I only know Lyndall.  They are great photos aren't they?

That does look like fun! I think the good vibes from this party must have traveled to Andre too. Looks like a great group of friends.
