The Opera House Theatre, in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, will host the 81st Royal Variety Performance, on Monday 7th December, 2009. The Performance, presented annually in aid of the Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund (the EABF), will be the first time that the Royal Variety has been staged in Blackpool since 1955. Blackpool Council has kindly agreed to display the famous Blackpool Illuminations, along the route of the Royal party, on the night of December 7th.
Due to an overwhelming demand, all applications for tickets have been suspended.
Award-winning comedian, Peter Kay, will host the show which promises to be an unforgettable evening. Peter says, "It’s an honour and a privilege to be asked to host the Royal Variety, but even more of a delight to host it in Blackpool."
How wonderful that Andre will appear before the Queen of England......and just to think my husband and I got engaged on the top of Blackpool Tower in 1951 and went dancing in the ballroom too

I'm really happy Andre is appearing in this concert, he needs some publicity in the UK. We had friends from England visiting recently and they'd never heard of him. I thought that was amazing seeing they are so close to Holland geographically.
They were enthralled when they saw a DVD of his for the first time.

REFERENCE the Royal Variety Show in Blackpool, England on 7 December..... This year's show will include among others Andre Rieu, Bette Midler and Whoopi Goldberg with the "Sister Act" cast. The Blackpool Opera House only has 2500 seats and has long been sold out ..... The good news is that the show will broadcast on ITV 1 on Sunday, 13 December if you can receive this channel via satellite (?). BUT.... also please note that the Royal Variety Show is a New Year's Tradition in Norway and will again broadcast on Norwegian TV at 00:00 on 1 January 2010. ..... QUESTION:... DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THIS WILL BROADCAST in the USA ??? Thank you.

Yes-this should be a great venue and exposure for the Royal Family,.i.e.the appearance of Andre Rieu and his fabulous musicians-some real serious talent, and of coarse with the appearance of beautiful Katherine Jenkins, the next female super star version of: Josh Groban? If this variety show ever comes out on DVD-I can fast forward through "GaGa", The only one I'll go GAGA over is Katherine Jenkins-by the way: Andre does a duet with Katherine Jenkins on her new CD-"Believe" With David Fosters arrangements, a fantastic song and album period! Yes it would be nice if this Royal variety show will be available sometime in the future in the USA. If there is a fan that has some clout with PBS-TV, they might be able to pull some Air Wave Strings???, just a thought! Kyle S.

PBS might carry it, you are right. Otherwise, we may not get to see this unless we purchase a DVD of it long after it has aired.
