Andre Rieu - Album Review Forever Vienna

ALBUM REVIEW:

Forever Vienna: André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra

Friday December 18,2009
By Paul Callan

THE charismatic Dutch violinist André Rieu – something of a sex symbol in the world of Viennese music – conducts his own orchestra in a truly tuneful selection of music by the great waltz king, Johann Strauss, as well as Rossini and Ravel.

Like Strauss himself, Rieu conducts with his bow, leading the orchestra in such sweet musical confections as The Blue Danube and The Merry Widow.

True romantics will adore Lehar’s You Are My Heart’s Delight.

I have been thinking about this album perhaps being a pretty good buy.  I thought at first that I have all the music but to have all the waltz's in a two set CD would be nice.  The first DVD I bought after I saw Andre on PBS was "100 Years Of Strauss" and I looked at the trailers and one was "La Vie Est Belle" and the minute I saw Andre skip out onto the stage to Lehar's "You Are My Hearts Delight" I fell head over heels and thought I need to get that and every other DVD I could find.  I have loved that song for years and did not even know who wrote it.  Guess I am a "true romantic".  Hugs

I have just watched Andre's concert from Melbourne, which I recorded. I had also bought Forever Vienna to give tomy Mum for her birthday..... sorry Mum, keeping it myself.... never been into classical music but now converted and all thanks to Andre Rieu. Not only is he very handsome...... but he makes the music so romantic and enjoyable. Can't wait till he comes to the UK again..... soon.... please

Well Jackie didn't you see his Millenium concert at the Albert Hall on Sky Arts 2 recently? It was great. We watched as we went to see him in concert some years ago at the Albert Hall and thought it was the same concert but it seemed to have lots of extra stuff on it. Just bought the bonus CD Forever Vienna which has the dvd of the concert on it. Lovely. His shows are very entertaining.
