Andre Rieu To Be Awarded The KarlsMedal

Dutch Violinist André Rieu Honored
The Karlsmedal, given annually to an entertainer who has contributed in a special way to a united Europe, will be awarded on May 6 to André Rieu. According to the Limburger Daily, the jury says the Dutch violinist emphasizes "the common cultural roots of Europe." Rieu's latest concert tour uses a 410-foot wide replica of the Schönbrunn Castle in Vienna as its setting.
Marcel Philipp, the president of the jury said Thursday, that by making classical music accessible to the everyone, Rieu uses the musical language every European understands and contributes to identification with the European cultural tradition. Rieu himself is happy and takes it as encouragement to keep on bringing classical music to a broad public.

I just read : www.aachen.de , I must say, that is one big honor for André and it is true, he has in his concerts all kinds of nations, not only from the country he is playing in. When I was in Cortona, all of Europe plus a few Americans were there, not so many Italians, he went only once back to Italy, the year after. The medal is 925 Silver and a Lapizlazuli is in it mounted in gold, the medal is 10 cm big.

Dear André congratulations yet again.Please pray for me. I am about to attempt the dish with bacon, endives and pork. There is no way I could stir for 10mins muscles or not so I am goint to put the pot on a saucepan of boiling water to heat-hope it works.Your music is superb,your cooking fun and as I have said to you and Pierre you are both really gorgeous!!!
