Andre Rieu To Play The Allstate Arena, 6/28

André Rieu has confirmed his return to the Chicagoland area.  Rieu, together with his 55 piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, will return to North America for a 21-city run that starts in June.  Rieu will appear in concert at the Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Road in Rosemont on Monday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale at Ticketmaster.com on March 15 at 11 a.m.

The 2010 tour will be very special. Says Rieu:  "I always say that music is the most wonderful thing in the world.  Music triggers emotions.  I want to bring an ode to waltzes and polkas that bring joy, to romantic ballads and to many more beautiful melodies.  It will be a very special night." Besides the United States and Canada, Rieu will bring his new tour to Mexico, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and all over Europe.

André Rieu is one of the best selling live acts in the world.  Billboard Magazine, the leading music industry publication, has published an overview of the 25 best selling tours of 2009 and Rieu ranked number 6, outselling artists like Britney Spears, Coldplay and Beyonce.  Rieu sold 834,992 tickets in 2009 for a gross of almost $96 million.

Rieu, who has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, travels with his own orchestra, the Johann Strauss Orchestra, and an entourage of over 100 people in total. His concerts are known for their festive atmosphere. He encourages his audiences to get out of their seats and waltz in the aisles.

Tickets for the André Rieu concert at the Allstate Arena on Monday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m. range in price from $39- $139. For tickets or more information, contact the Allstate Arena Box Office at 847.635.6601, call TicketMaster at 800.745.3000 or visit ticketmaster.com.

We haven't received our tickets from PBS
Chicago yet. They should be down front
somewhere. Hope the Maestro includes A
WHITER SHADE OF PALE and LA CALIFFA on
    the program.

It will be interesting to see what Andre's programme will be this year. The tour is called Celebration of Music, so it could be a good variety. I think the La Califfa would be a great choice, but only if Andre plays the main part. I heard David Garrett play that on his violin & it was outstandingly beautiful. Morriconi has written some beautiful music & Andre has played some of his pieces. One of my favorites was Once Upon A Time In The West. Andre & the JSO did an excellent job on that one.
You say you are going to the Chicago concert? I went to one at Rosemont theatre several years ago & the place was packed. Tickets sold very quickly there. Where is this Allstate Arena?

Am fairly certain Allstate Arena is just
north of the Rosemont on Mannheim Road.
Once Upon A Time In The West is another
song I would like to hear again. Think
all of those we mentioned would draw
standing ovations. The JSO seemed very
moved when they played A Whiter Shade of
Pale in New York. I liked the instrumental version slightly better
    than vocal version.

    $39.00 - $139?

I sure wish ticket prices were in that range here in Arizona.

Bill: Hope Shirley is planning some
concert pictures for you. We haven't gone digital and I've only been using a
      laptop a few months.
PBS tickets were $195 each or front row
      and dinner w/JSO $1750 each.
Appreciate your great fan club entries!!

I would if I was going to Chicago, but not this time. Hopefully someone who is going will do just that.

I hope you will be willing to give me permission to add some of your photos to my photo website

Bill: I can give you a concert report.
Just realized the Phoenix concert isn't
until late Fall. Can you use 35mm photos
or negatives? Have thought about upgrading to newer technology. In 2008
at Reading, PA concert we could have
easily gotten a picture with Franco V.
who was greeting outside the building.
      Jill/Geelong would have found Franco
      very unoccupied that day.
