Intuition
"The times my feelings were ignored were a fiasco"
"What type of entrepreneur are you?", an acquaintance asked me. Gosh, there
I had to think about it, a) because I see myself primarily as a musician. b)
because the word "entrepreneur" sounds business like and my work does not seem like work, and c) because other people, I am told, tell me I have a business and emotional side, which could characterize me as an entrepreneur.
One thing is certain: my feeling is the main compass in my entrepreneurship.
The times I have - consciously or unconsciously - ignored my feelings was a fiasco. Like that time I took a musician and hired him because of his dazzling resume and not the 'click' I should feel or whether the concert for an audience that had received free tickets, never again!
Well, on the other hand I had a good feeling Imitating the Vienna Schönbrunn better known as the palace of Empress Sissi and now the World's largest traveling decor. This was making a huge investment in our company in 2008 and it ended in the red. It may sound crazy, but I have no sleepless nights.
Everything felt right when I was with my orchestra in 2006 for the original in the Schloss (Castle) at Schönbrunn in Vienna. After I told my son, also vice president of our company: "This is the perfect atmosphere that suits my music. There's only one thing to do: "build it."
He laughed and laughed, as if I had made a good joke. Meanwhile
we in the end, had the two ice rinks, the extended ballet, horses, carriages and
fountains, traveling around the world.
The audience was thrilled and we have the greatest pleasure to have a great performance that our guests will not soon forget.
The investment has placed great emphasis on our 'product' and placed a bulk of media attention which would be priceless.
So if you ask me what kind of businessman I am: one with "intuition"
Andre Rieu

This is a new first of many artices to follow with inside details as told by Andre not through an interview or rehearsed but in his own words. The first article being entitled "Intuition" otherwise could be referred to as a gut feeling. If it feels right then it usually is. Follow it. I am sure many people can relate to that theory.
Andre does not look at himself as an entrepreneur but only as a musician? Exactly what is the true definition of an entrepreneur? Founder and producer that in the beginning starts a business alone. So it is based on dreams. So what. Eventually Andre Rieu Productions was and is a business conceived from a dream of an alone musician/violinist. (And with the help of his wife, Marjorie.) Call it what you want, but Andre is a true businessman that always knew what he wanted and wears many hats. Andre is very lucky to have Pierre, a young man with good business sense to carry on. Let Andre continue to do what he does best and that is being the musician that he is,traveling around the world with his orchestra playing his beautiful music and making people happy.
There is always someone at the top and Andre is and always will be the Businessman/Boss with new ideas. The boss and creator of a entrepreneurship that he started over 30 years ago.
These are only my opinions and ANDRE, I am looking forward to the next article.

Thank you, Andre, for your "intuition". The show you take around the world (Schonbrunn) was indeed magical. Sandy and I along with another couple attended the concert in Toronto. It was really spectacular! I know that your regular concerts cannot go to these lengths, but the memory of Toronto will be in our minds forever. We did see you in Baltimore last year and we met up with some of your long time fans (Baltimore Posse on Sally's website). We all hope that you will bring Schonbrunn to the United States and that it will be within our reach to attend.
Remember Jiminy Cricket, in Pinnochio? He said,"when your heart is in your dreams, no request is too extreme".
All journeys start with a dream. According to Andre, one of his first dreams was "standing on stage & playing beautiful music to lots& lots of people". However he got to where he is now is nothing short of genius.
