Wish you all a very happy Easter. Our son is still here from Germany and our daughter has left, but I also had my miniature exhibition over the last weekend, was very busy and now I am working on a new project, but also we are driving around visiting relatives. Have not read everything, no time, but one day I might catch up again.

My mum is quite possibly Andre's biggest fan! She's unwell- but getting better- in hospital in South Africa right now. I can't wait til she's well and back in Australia. It would mean the world to her to get a well message from Andre somehow... Andre wherever you are!

I am an elderly lady from Cape Town, South Africa. I am VERY excited that I will be able to attend Andre's concert on 2 May at 3pm. Andre's music has given new meaning to my life, and although it brings tears to my eyes, it fills my heart with happiness. It will mean the world to me if I will be possible for me to get Andre's autograph. I would also like to know if he has ever played 'Caravan" in one of his concerts. It is my first favourite composition, and my second favourite is 'Bolero' which Andre and his magnificent orchestra play masterfully.
Thank you Andre from the bottom of my heart. I wish you many, many more 'sold out' concerts and that I may have the privilege of attending another one.

What has Andre done with Nicolle Steins and the other 5 singers in the choir? The last DVD I viewed only had one of the original group of seven on stage. They give a visual lift to any performance - always look so happy and work well together.
Also missing was Stephanie Detry on piano, another top artist. Has she also left?

Yes, what DVD are you referring to? I wasn't aware anyone else had left. We all need to lobby his people on his website to update the orchestra page. They have said soon for the last two years!
Dear John - I watched the last week the final: Dancing on Ice' in the UK and the mini concert at Valkenburg Caves and all the choir members was present including Stephanie. There are the last 1-2 years 7 singers: Judith, Anne (blond from Germany) Laura, Kalki,Vergine (Rene`s wife but had not seen Rene),Karen and Nicole. It might be that Lara (violinist) is on maternity leave because there is someone else.Madam Butterfly, Virginia, South Africa

Isn't it amazing how Andre inspires a lot of people, adults as well as children. This one reminds me of little Akim Camara, who wanted to learn violin because of seeing Andre.
Hi Jos, I don't remember any DVD in which Andre plays Caravan. Maybe someone here on the blog would remember. I will see what I can find out for you. He has done Bolero many times. I will never forget the time he played it in Toronto when he had the Castle and the flames shot out of the top of the set when they finished. You could actually feel the heat from the flames - very dramatic! Hugs to you
I've just watched "Andre's Australian Adventure" filmed in 2007 & 2008.It's brilliant seeing the places he visited, comments from Gary & Mirusia, Kirstens baby, the storm in Brisbane etc, etc.
Similar to "On his way to New York" but better because this is my country.
Watching SkyArts over Christmas and am now completely besotted.

Polish President Lech Kaczynski was killed after his plane crashed while attempting to land in Russia. Kaczynski was leading a delegation of 88 people to visit Katyn, the site of a World War II massacre that killed 20,000 Polish prisoners of war.

this visit to Katyn. Indeed, a very sad day for all Poles around the world. Our Polish Church had a very beautiful Mass on Sunday attended by our large Polish community in Solidarity.

I don't believe that Andre ever did a recording of Caravan, at least I've not found any. Many artists have recorded it but my favorite was always Duke Ellington, the original.
The ones I've found were Art Pepper, Benny Goodman, Big Jay McNeely, Bill Haley, Billy Eckstine, Chet Atkins, Dave Brubeck, Dinah Washington, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Freddie Hubbard, Harry James, Jimmy Smith, Joe Turner, Lawrence Welk, Les Paul, Mills Brothers, Nat King Cole, Oscar Peterson, Red Holloway, Roomful of Blues, Sarah Vaughan, Tito Puente, Woody Herman, Wynton Marsalis, and even Bobby Darin did a version of it. But no Andre.Since it is a latin jazz piece, I always thought Reuben, of the NZ site, could really do a great vocal of that one. Are you listening Reuben?

hi with the volcano eruption I sincerely hope this does'nt cause any problems for Andr'e and his people,with a little bit of help from his friend St Peter hopefully all will be Aok I know there are many people it will affect but because I don't have anyone travelling Andr'e was the first person I thought of fay

I recently purchased Andre DVD's/CD's on line due to physical limitations for personal shopping. Silly me didn't give thought to local availablility & some products requiring shipment due to circumstances outside usual expectation or control. I wait with bated breath for delivery - and a very long session of 'Andre magic' with my dogs cuddled up beside me. Escapism - yes!!!!!!!!!!!

My thoughts go out to all those People stranded in airports, and countries all over Europe etc, who cannot get back home, or visit their loved ones. It appears that no Flights are leaving the UK today Sunday or Monday, I hope it doesn't stop Andre doing his concerts.

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds". Maybe Andre follows this thinking, or 'the show must go on". We're all at the mercy of the weather aren't we? Shows how much we are in control, huh? But, so far, Andre has seemed to beat the odds. Now volcanic ash, I'm not so sure. It is quite a mess isn't it? People stranded & shipments can't come in or out. Busses & trains must be really crowded too.
Thanks to al those who responded to my query re Caravan. I think many of Andre's fans would like him to include it in one of his concerts. Thank you Jeanine for the news about Andre's new cd. I CAN'T wait for it to be in the music stores in South Africa. I think all the fans must be very quick to get one before they are all sold out. I'm also very worried that Andre may not be able to fly to SA.
I hope and pray that the skies will be a bit clearer by then. Luv to all.
It appears that the Dutch airline KLM and Germany's Lufthansa, also Air France are taking to the skies for TEST FLIGHT'S ONLY, to see if it will be safe to fly.

Hello Jeanine Ann. At last I have managed to print the photo of our Maestro Andre with (yes you guessed it) His shiny shoes, the problem was the photo was to long, so I had to shrink it to fit onto A4 photo paper. Hugs to all Andre's fans xx
Hi Debbie, glad you got to print the photo. Did you have your printer orientation on "vertical"? That way I don't think you would need to resize the photo but not sure. I have not printed it yet but I will - shiny black shoes and all! Hugs

As much as I love the Maestro, and my own family who are stranded o/seas just now; their delay & loss hopefully is short term & easily recoverable. Here in Oz, I've heard nothing about those at close range, in direct danger or threat. Anything to report?
My heart goes out to those we haven't heard about who are really suffering through this! Hopefully Andre, his Entourage & others known to us are merely held up & circumstances recoverable.
AND - those shoes again? I feel that Jeanine Ann has a serious fetish here (ha, ha!!). I love the shoes myself, yet the eyes and the Tuxedo really win me over!

It seems like good news, that Scotland and Ireland Airports, will start letting their planes fly again tomorrow, London will make their minds up later on Tuesday weather to open up their airspace or not. Fingers crossed that people will soon be able to get back home.

I printed out those lovely pictures the first one is good the second one I somehow cut off Andre's shoes should i frame them both as both are great though I do prefere Himself thank you Jeanine for all your info I read Andre's tweet the girls in the office have got them on a plane to S A thank God, frankly without this site we'd know very little as our media here print nothing, I'm an idiot when it comes to all this internet stuff I'm 75 & still learning so forgive any mistakes, I do love The Man.

I am new on this site. I found it just this week. I just wanted to share that I am so happy that Andre and Co will be in South Africa and that his tour here is going ahead. I cannot wait, I will be see his show on Saturday!!!! WOW it is almost unbeliveable, after so many years. I got my very first CD of Andre in 1998 and I have been a fan ever since. Just one of his many South African fans!!!

I'll have another go with the picture I've no idea why i got Himself on one page & shoes on the next. cant wait for next friday I know what i'm getting for mothers day, for a bit trivia i have a siamese cat who loves Andr'e he has special pieces he likes those where the violin is very prominent, like my way ,Ben,Tosseli seranade, first time he heard it he went looking for the bird, he goes to sleep on my pillow so he can listen as we go off to sleep, in turn he hates the pieces with bagpipes, does any one else have a cat that enjoys The Man like my Jasper does??? fay
I have a two-year-old grandson whom I introduced to Andre a couple of days ago. I sat him beside me and put the Heidleberg DVD on to see what he'd do. Well, his eyes lit up, he started laughing and swaying to the music then joined in clapping along to the songs. His attention was totally riveted for over an hour. His Mother came to pick him up then, but if she hadn't I think he'd have watched the whole concert with me. He and I are obviously going to get along well!
As for cats - we have one that loves Daniel O'Donnell. Whenever we have Daniel on she comes into the longeroom, stretches out on the carpet and purrs loudly all the time he's singing. She's a cat with good taste.

Ir's good news that the misplaced artiles have been found and that the concerts should start on time.
For what's it's worth I'm going to put in my 2P's worth.
Maestro, We know you don't know how to relax, unwind, take time to smell the roses, because you are such a perfectionist, but there are times in this last week, when you most surely needed to put your staff's safety as paramound, over the almighty Euro.
The first, most important thing you needed to do is get the orchestra, choir, voca lists and your goodself to Sth Aftrica, with as little risk to you as possible.
Fortunately, all arrived well, thank the Good Lord. But surely, there should a much lesser worry about clothes and mics arriving.
Maestro, do you really have any idea about your audience at all? We come to concerts to see you and the others first and fullmost. 2nd. Yes we love the gowns and tuxes, but as long as they have their instruments and voices in good tone AND plenty of that wonderful sense of humour they all seem to have, I'd wouldn't mattered if the girls were dressed in burlap sacks and the boys in tracky pants and black singlets, They would all sing and play just as well.
Although, on second thoughts, The Italian Stallion, Cord, Roland, Marcel etal, even the Great one, with muscels and bicepts,, wrippling either side of the Black Singlets, sends me in fits of swoons, Especially Franco and Rolond hammering out each end of the anvil, in full undress.(Well, perhaps not completely) :C. Whisssssshhh whooooo.
Anyway Maestro. If the stages and backdrops don't look correct, or there are'nt enough flowers or balloons, who cares?
THE SOUTH AFRICAN FANS ARE THERE TO SEE YOU ANDRE AND THE JSO AND SINGERS, not to see Gilt edged chairs and gold music stands.

My dogs (babies) Jazz & Bronte are also spellbound and quieted by Andre's music; the sight & feel of them truly relaxing gives me additional comfort.
Andre is a weaver of magic because he feels this in his soul & has a genuine need to share the beauty & value of music, therfore creating a tangible gift. Not everyone with talent can do this! Part of his 'mysticism' is offering music & persona which bridges the gap between old and young, creating connection and meaning & that 'something special' for all who listen & watch. He 'gifts' a magical, uplifting experience to his Public. Part of his 'mysticism' (I feel) is his ability to maintain the magic of his giving to his public & keeping Himself for his family, & at home he is not the KING we perceive!. Let's face it! No matter who or where we are, an escape from our own reality does wonders for the Soul at times. Andre's face shows the lines of one who has always believed in love, happiness, a gentle heart, contentment, commitment as well as freedom, no matter what life's experiences, even during times of great personal doubt! I don't see Andre feeling any shame over past experience, nor holding deep regret:, he has learned to love unconditionally as well as being selfish for unselfish reasons & continues to do so; I feel that he has also learned to love, respect & appreciate himself, and those around him so much more these past 7-8 years.
He knows the value of love & can differentiate between fact & fiction.
Andre is a mature & wise man who 'revels' in maintaining his youthful spirit & 'cheekiness' which is sooo appealing to Us whilst he shares his musical talent.
Andre commands & demands absolute respect from those who serve him, follow him or work for him in some other capacity. YES, this should be so, for as long as such respect is reciprocal from him.
Our Maestro gives to Us a world of beautiful music, fantasy & escape; time out from our troubles in life! I see Andre building on past experience & recognising more than ever that there is 'Spiritual value and reward' to the path he is on & the gift he shares, despite any Religious, personal or other inherant beliefs or differences. Andre's gifts are truly meant to be shared in this lifetime!
In the latter part of 2010, I see Andre facing much more change & challenge than he has experienced or anticipated these past few years. There is a 'tug' between inherant & personal beliefs, and choices in ultimate personal desires between fame and family. This will be a testing time for Andre. I see him making a positive choice for the mutual good of his family environment as well as his own success and pleasure.
I feel that 'true friendship' has always been important to Andre & this is what he may seek & need most in the coming 6-9 months to help him maintain 'his own truth'. Coming experiences may cause Andre to re-assess & re affirm the needs and core-strength of his Family Unit/Circle - much more than previously. There is much offered to Andre this year that may be unexpected & he must be mindful of any negative aspects of his own personality traits & the choices he makes. Andre's financial security will come from sharing his gift with the public - nothing else! Yes, there is a somewhat 'mystical' quality to Andre - perhaps a very contemplative, solitary aspect in him which makes us think that he is aloof, untouchable, unreachable yet at the same time he can so gently stroke & heal the hearts of those who take the time to listen & watch his concerts (I include accolades to his Orchestra & Guest Artists).
I share my 'Mini Numerology reading' with utmost respect for Andre (whether he likes it or not)!
Hi Janice, this is a wonderful and probably quite accurate interpretation of Andre as you see him. There is nothing I disagree with even though I know nothing about numerology. The times I have been around him I noticed a great respect for him and also a kind of presence as he walks into a room or toward someone. He walks straight and tall and is awesome to behold. I can see by his eyes that he is a good person and I feel he is a very romantic man and puts much emphasis on love and romance. Do you see that also? I have never seen anyone who can, through his music, put one in such a peaceful and wonderful mood no matter what the day brings. This is almost magical and I have experienced this. I am sure there are others who will agree.

I do feel that Andre is a sensitive & caring man who has always been interested & aware of what is happening around him, within other people and within himself. I see that he places emphasis on love, tenderness, gentleness & playfulness & all things that bring light to the mind & soul. He is definitely a romanticist in creating what he gives to us. Of course we all have negative aspects to our characters, but I won't pick on him!

Hi Jeanine Ann, despite any 'divination tools';- personal perception & judgement will truly take over given the nature of us 'Humans'. I share with integrity, in good nature, humour & affection! My introduction to Andre was during a period of great personal change, injury & challenge, loss & difficulty. In such times I could not maintain positivity & hope although I had enjoyed such things in the past. I was in need of healing & rejuvenation of the spirit!. Experiencing the magic of Andre's music, I was lead to follow him further as I was so 'spellbound & intrigued'. I heard my Mother's music and life - & my life (she died 18 mths ago @ age 76,& was a talented Vocalist) in his Concerts. I came to experience a journey of emotion & sentiment through his music which struck every emotional chord within me. I also gratefully acknowledge his Orchestra & Guest Artists as they play a major part here. In experiencing tears & release of emotion not previously allowed by me in my very independant life, I was 'in awe' of not only his music, but his very manly & gentlemanly presence, overall sensitivity & consideration. I guess that many a woman imagines her salvation in the arms of a loving & romantic man, although life teaches us differently (keep on dreaming)!!! I came to somewhat understand the sheer magnitude of preparation involved for 'Himself' to be able to realise his own dream; I 'cynically' questioned my interest in Andre. Had I lost my own magic in life? There are many talented Composers, Conductors, Musicians, Artists, Violinists & talented others in this World, many of whom will never reap the rewards of their passion & dedication. So what makes Andre different???
Andre has Artistic/Musical talent as well as vision & eternal optimism. A typical 'Visionary' is one who creates & sees the final product or destination, yet needs the appropriate expertise, support around him/her in other areas in order to achieve the reality.
I feel that Family history & Andre's recognition & acceptance of such has helped him to assess the past with view to creating a better future, personal environment & World in this lifetime. I feel that Andre has always been a 'Creator', dominant enough in his life to not let go of his dreams, aspirations & visions, yet manly & worldly enough to meet with family obligations, faithfulness & loyalty as needed.
Andre has a gift & a vision; his Team helps him put together a magical, romantic extravaganza & escape from One's troubles & supports him to realise his dream. Many accolades are due to those whose names we do not know. There is nothing about Andre's performance, presence or public persona which is 'overt' in any. He gives a gift of love & romance which leaves much to One's imaginiation. THIS IS MAGIC!

hi Janice, thanks for your printing advice I'll try it out, I love what you have to say about The Great Man,last year I was in Blacktown I witnessed something to share, there were a number of people on motorised scooters,Andre' was playing to the crowd,He noticed these people & walked over to that side of the stage playing to them for a moment, I thought then your not only an inspired artist, your a nice Human Being .To all of us who post bits about The Great Man I think we all feel the same about him,usually a bit of negativity pops up about artists, but nothing have i read about Andre'I feel for his wife but how joyous must be the times he's home.Fay

Hi Lyndall & Robert, Thank you for you piece about ANZAC Day. I went to the Dawn Service in Melbourne & was amazed by the size of the crowd. Later I helped out with about 400 Scouts & Guides who carried banners & signs, helped with crowd control & walked with some of the older Veterans. It is always a fantastic experience just to be there.
I pray for the quick recovery of the Veterans who were injured. Max

effective soothing, peace of mind, calming transformation for me. Without
spilling my hurtful experiences, I do feel like Andre's music makes an inner
contact which makes me feel like I have once again "risen like the Phoenix".

I may have worn myself out with such extended (& probably repeated) verbage lately, & sometimes wonder whether if I'm more away with the Pixies than anything else. Such thoughts come to me later at night when it's dark & quiet then I lose too much sleep & need time out. Maybe a recent Moon phase got me going -ha, ha! It's good for the soul though. I need an Andre DVD 'fix', but think my latest orders are still sitting on a QANTAS flight somewhere.

I watched Andre's last OZ tour on Ovation twice in 24 hrs. His facial expressions are also priceless. Must also say that Manoe is a very witty lady & love watching her antics as well as how the entire production just 'plays' off each other!

I have now received my DVD of Andre's Australian Adventures, whilst I was a little disappointed that there was not more music content.
It was certainly an eye opener to how much work is involved, in setting everything up ready for a concert, Andre and Pierre must have a lot of patience, except when they let the bad language slip, (but it shows they are only human). I also liked the affection that he gave to Pierre, and the way he stopped for his fans, when asked to pose for a photo with their loved ones.
It just goes to show what a real Trouper Andre is.

Hi Debbie, I am happy you received your DVD. I think most of the road soaps do have more about the making of a concert and not as much music. I guess it depends on the type of journey they are making. They certainly do work hard. I am constantly amazed at how much Andre works on these concerts and every project he does. He has so much energy and ambition and we are the lucky recipients of all this work. I too love the relationship between Andre and Pierre. They seem to work so well together. I hope we get another DVD - like "on the road to So. Africa"??? I never get tired of them. Cannot wait for the new CD. It has lots of music which I like. Enjoy your DVD. Hugs to you

However,I can't find the DVDs for those 3 concerts in the American (NTSC) format.

Maastricht 2 & 3 are relatively new & have not been released in NTSC format, at this time

Frank, Live in Maastricht 2 and 3 are both available in NTSC on Andre's website www.andrerieu.com. Just click on "Boutique" then "DVDs & Videos", then "DVDs". They are a little more expensive there (you pay in euros), but it's the only place I've found where you can purchase these two DVDs in the NTSC format. A lot of us have all-region DVD players that will play the PAL format because they always seem to be released first and we can get them from Europe or Australia. Hope this helps.

Talking about prodigies... On Australia's Got Talent this week I saw one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life... other than the first time I saw Andre. A 7 year old playing 'Flight of the Bumble Bee' to perfection! Can you believe it? How those little fingers could fly across the keys so fast I have no idea.

Now that you mention the ears; they are the best looking ears on a man I've observed for a while (yes, I do notice such things). Take a look at the hands too! Maybe you should ask for comparisons within JSO to see if it is a sign or a great Maestro, great Musician or just great genes (ha, ha)!

I just cannot understand why retailers in the UK do not stock them. I am sure they are losing out on huge sales.I have emailed Universal and asked them why but they have not replied. I just want everyone to love Andre as we do .xx

Thank you for your reply. I think the big problem is that Andre doesn't get enough publicity here in the UK. Perhaps when he tours the UK later in the year the music stores will wake up and sell more of Andre and his music, It was purely by chance that I heard of Andre, just a few months ago prior to that, I did not know the great man existed. I was only when I was going through our album charts that I spotted Forever Vienna, ( and I thought I would give it a try) and when the album arrived WOW it blew me away it was Fantastic, and now my collection of Andre is growing, ( I do like his cheeky grin when he plays the Blue Danube). I have so far got nine other people into Andre and his orchestra all they do is play his music day and night. What a great inspiration he is on young and old.

Thank you for your comment, it was very interesting, it seems like the UK is way behind promoting such great talent. Like I said if I did not see that Andre was in our album charts, I would not have become a fan of his.
Even when Andre was on our dancing on ice final he did not get much time to show who he was. In fact I was quiet disgusted that they did not give him a slot to play a few pieces of music. They could have given Andre and his Orchestra some well earned publicity.

Hi Ladies. I do so totally agree with your comments. I only discovered the wonderful Andre lasy year watching The Royal Variety Show. He is on channel 4 occasionally on a Sunday morning but blink and you miss him.I do so hope his concerts will be well attended here. I have my tickets anyway and will be singing and dancing. Why would anyone admire a 'six pack', great Pecs. & Abs, etc. over a natural, gorgeous & talented man such as Andre?
For me, it's part of his attraction that he is mostly natural & lives a normal life outside his fame.
Janice I would rather see Andre than anything else on this earth (except my husband who is sitting right beside me) : ) But this photo IS of Andre and it is very natural.

I have family Members in their late 70's to late 80's, all of whom are much adored by me, absolutely loyal to their partners and families, would never stray, yet still 'look', and sometimes flirt a little. All in the knowledge of their own physicalities,personal & partnership boundaries & commitments, as well as in the knowledge that they would be 'killed' (perhaps not quite literally) by Spouses/families for any dis-loyalty.
Marjorie & Andre are a great team, and weave their 'romantic magic' in a way which is obviously comfortable for them.
Once again, if I'm still feeling what you're feeling in another 22 years from now - I will surely be very happy!

Although many will disagree I don't think there is anyone who loves Andre and looks at Andre more than I do. The first time I saw him I fell head over heels and have never changed. So please don't think of yourself as a "pervert" - none of us are that. That is reserved for bad people and our love and admiration for Andre is nothing but good. We all have our day dreams and think "what if" but that is normal at any age. How could anyone look at Andre and not dream. He is what dreams are made of. He is the example of the "perfect man" (from as much as we can know and see) and all of us want a perfect man. But I guess Andre isn't even perfect and I cannot even say that without that "I guess". : ) So dream and look on Fay because I will be right here with you dreaming and looking! Hugs to you

We are ALL allowed to look and enjoy, no matter what age we are - so keep looking & enjoying!!!. 'Pervert' is a rather ugly word & belongs to those with lower moral standards - you are not one of this type.
Marjorie is quite obviously a very intelligent woman who I am sure feels very secure. I'd say that what Andre & Marjorie share with the World is 'deliberate & agreed upon', according to the boundaries of their relationship & family life, and you will always notice that any romance in Andre's concerts, DVD's etc., is very 'fictionalised' and makes him personally 'untouchable'. Even in live performances, he 'flirts' romantically with much older ladies, or with 'little Princesses' accompanied by Parents or in other 'safe' circumstances.
And 'YES', thanks to Marjorie for helping Andre to weave romance and magic outside her own home & life, in a very delightful and delicate way. As the man himself has been known to say 'I am not Tom Jones!'

I guess that 'sexy' means something different to every Individual. What I love most is his overall ability to live his dream, share his talent & music, love & protect his family life & values as well as share his (appropriately guarded) cheeky & flirtatious side. This to me 'is very sexy' in any man or woman.
My DVD broke down recently, so could not play thru TV...aha, I thought! Go to the computer.
DVD played well, but alas no sound and relying on sub-titles!
Next time u watch an Andre DVD, do it on your computer if u have a DVD drive, or make sure that your 'goggles' are in good shape & you are in close range to the Tele. Dim the lights a bit & watch closely. When he smiles & winks, you feel like i'ts all just for you!!!!!!! (Aren't I glad for technical failure this week?). I'd not noticed this previously when the loungeroom DVD was working as I'm a tad short sighted...now I really know how short-sighted I am (ha, ha) - a trip to the Optician coming up soon!
