Andre Rieu - Cortona Remembered

Graeme Wilkinson does it again!  Another beautiful portrait from our Australian friend.  See if you know who it is,  what memories it brings back and for which of Andre's songs.

This is from the DVD 'Romance' when Carmen sings 'O mia babino caro'. We have watched this many times. What a beautiful portrait, recognised the gentleman immediately.

I had tears in my eyes too and wondered if this gentleman had lost a daughter or had not granted a request

This is, by far, my favorite . You have captured the emotions perfectly. I've always wondered if he was remembering a place, or a person from the past, for the song to have touched him so deeply. There is also a man in the Dublin video who is similarly touched by Carmen's song. She does have a way of touching your heart.
Graeme, this moment, captured on canvas, is perfection. I think the man from Cortona would be very honored.
Once again, you have put life in the eyes. that's talent! Thank you.

I agree with Shirley, this is magnificent Graeme, second only to Andre's portrait.  I haven't told anyone until now but my loving husband bought Andre (the portrait) from Graeme for me for my birthday and it will hang in a place of honor in our home.  I am looking for the perfect frame.  : )  : )   Hugs

Lucky you Jeanine. How fabulous of Claude buying you the Andre portrait.
This is such a magnificent likeness of the gentleman in Cortona.
He certainly touched the life of many with his show of such emotion, which comes out so wll in this painting.
