More than 40,000 South Africans are ready to welcome the King of Waltz André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra to our shores this week. Are you?
With two more shows added to accommodate the overwhelming response from fans, those who have missed out on early bookings now have the opportunity to get their tickets for the 5th Sun City Show on 27 April and the last Cape Town performance on 3 May.
Universal Records have just announced that his DVD sales in South Africa have reached multi-platinum status, something very few international artists have ever achieved and will be presenting André Rieu with a special award during his Sun City performance.
"It is with great pride that we will be able to present André with a multi platinum sales award when he returns to South Africa this week. By multi platinum I mean 15 times platinum! This equates to sales of over 300 000 DVDs in South Africa. This is a huge milestone for any artist to reach and is a great achievement," says Chris Venter, Head of Strategic Marketing at Universal Music.
When asked to comment on his upcoming tour to South Africa, André Rieu said: "My orchestra and I are so excited to be visiting South Africa! André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra will kick off their South African tour at the Sun City Super Bowl on 24 to 27 April 2010 and will be staging one show in Durban on 28 April before performing three shows in Cape Town from 1 to 3 May.
