In this new soap opera TROS follows Andre on the road with his orchestra and staff in the period before and during his first South African tour.
After the overwhelming success breakthrough in Australië appears on other continents to breakthrough. During preparations for the tour it is always the usual busy life of Andre Rieu. He can spend days in Brazil for a promotional tour, then record an album in Maastricht, performing at The Royal Variety show for the English Queen for our own glory or for playing in the caves in van Valkenburg.
Although initially everything seems like a routine oiled machine, every time we see the fine hand of the master is always present everywhere and to this traveling companion phenomenon. The violin should be played every day, even if sometimes unchecked, but Andre also has 1001 other things to be done. Andre Rieu in South Africa gives us a glimpse into the kitchen of the master chef.

More than 40,000 fans with their ticket in hand have been waiting with bated breath to see if André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra will arrive in time for his first concert despite severe air travel disruptions in Europe.
The good news is that they all are safely in Sun City and will have their third concert today.
It seems that there is an unexpected reward for André Rieu's commitment to get here on time waiting for him in Sun City. Universal Records have announced that his DVD sales in South Africa have reached multi-platinum status, something very few international artists have ever achieved and will be presenting him with a special award during his Sun City performance.
"It is with great pride that we will be able to present Andre with a multi platinum sales award when he returns to South Africa this week. By multi platinum I mean 15 times platinum!! This is a huge milestone for any artist to reach and is a great achievement", says Chris Venter, Head of Strategic Marketing at Universal Music.
Two more shows had to be added to the existing sold-out seven shows to accommodate the overwhelming response from fans.
We are living on a farm called Maastricht near Durbanville and bottled 2500 bottles of our Sauvignon Blanc in 2009 and want to send Andre Rieu a few bottles wine, because we are sure he will love it as much as we love his music.
