Leslie Berman's Andre Rieu Concert In Sun City SA

An enthusiastic knowledgeable crowd of ardent Andre Rieu fans packed the Sun City Superbowl almost to capacity for the inaugural South African Concert Tour of the Johan Strauss orchestra of Andre Rieu on Friday 23rd April 2010. The expectant audience was extremely receptive to the lively orchestra and thoroughly enjoyed each piece as well as the various Soloist performances.
Performances by a local South African Soloist as well as The Bloemfontein Children's Choir were extremely well received.
One highlight of the evening was when the orchestra played a local South African ditty called " Sarie Marais " ( which has Dutch roots ), during which the audience spontaneously joined in with almost every member present singing with full gusto.

In true tradition with all other performances given by this prestigious orchestra the rapt audience would not easily allow the concert to come to a close, exacting many encores from the performers. If this evening is anything to go by Andre and his orchestra will be hard pressed not to either extend their stay in South Africa or plan a forthcoming tour returning to South Africa in the future.

dear Lesley thanks for your report on THE GREAT MANS concert in S.A those of us who love & worry about Him especially at this time with all thats been going on with that bbbb volcano,what a relief,though no surprise really,so much talent & care by all the crew & artist we are all the more blessed by Himself & the Jso,can't wait until the new cd is out,we watch all the dvds over &over I'D be interested to know others favorite one ,myself ilove Maastricht 3 the talent that went into all the preparation of over 400 wind players,the music,the whole dvd is Super,it has the power to transport one to the actual concert my jasper & I love it thanks Andre'. fay
Faye, you asked about "favorites"? I have to smile because every time I think one particular one is my favorite, I watch another one or see a new one & it becomes my favorite.
Seems each one has it's own charm. I try to pin one down as a favorite but it just doesn't work for me.
Thank you so much Leslie, for writing about your concert experience. It gives me cold chills to think about all the people singing Sarie Marais. What a treat that must have been! It's the audience participation that makes Andre's concerts special. And by the end, when the encores come, no wonder the people don't want to leave. I think andre must love the people of Africa as much as they love him & I wouldn't be surprised if he returned. I'm hoping to see a dvd made of one of the Africa concerts. Again, thank you so much!
O boy, I just want to tell everybody that I went to see his concert last night in Durban and it was with one word FANTASTIC!!!! Thanks Andre for what you and your people give to us I think as you said we all need more, much more music in our life. Thanks again
