We all love him & idolise him so much, can we take a poll on what we 'don't like' so that we can keep him 'absolutely human & also keep our own lives in some semblance of balance'?????
Let me begin - I don't like long hair on mature men!!!....
THINK, THINK, THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...Hmmmm......Well, yes I could cope with this if I really had to!!! ----- and aren't we glad that he can't see us & offer his opinion? (ha, ha!!!!!!!!!)
Uh this will take a while to think of anything I DO NOT like about Andre. I do like the long hair on him because it suits him as a musician and looks good.
--- 2 hours later - I thought of something that I could do without and that would be occasional course language and he could still be human. Other than that there is absolutely nothing I DO NOT like. Okay who is next??? Big hugs
I must be one of the few-I 'have not' at any time heard him say anything or offensive word. How or where did I miss it?? Also Jeanine Ann, is there a special
place where I can make my purchases of the Maestro's newer CD/DVD's??Kindly point me in the correct direction ( OR do any of our fine fans tell me which
shops, etc to make my purchases. I have not paid ANY and ALL of my bills, knowing these gems were coming out. So
humbly grateful.
Hi Judith my sweet friend. I do want to clarify that this was a one time occurrence (that I know of) on the "Road To Australia" DVD. I was wondering why the sticker said "course language". I prefer that he does not use this type of language but who am I to tell him what to do. I love him to death anyway. Nothing can change that.

I did hear that this was in 'Andre's Australian Adventures.'
I've not yet seen this. Perhaps a case of 'when in Australia'..........or perhaps not! Not that I care, as I know many a Gentleman or Lady that occasionally 'let's fly' with expletives. It just makes him more human.
I prefer to focus on what I like, not what I dislike. When I become perfect then I will expect it of others.
I really do like his hair, it fits the image of the romantic period, when all the great composers of that period wore long hair.
And some men just look great with the longer hair, some don't. simple.
As for his language, I've only heard a couple of slip ups, one of those "oops" moments. I thought, later, well he'll have to watch it
around the grandchildren, you know how kids are, they love to repeat what they hear, at the most inappropriate times.
Hi Shirley, yes I agree with focusing on what we like. I guess this was just a different approach to our love and admiration for Andre. Obviously the list will not be long since there is not much to dislike : ) Hugs

Andre is surely a 'non fat/non toxic' emotional, mental & spiritual feast!!!I'm sure he has sense of humour enough to see that some may occasionally look for human failing & vulnerability outside his majestic presence. He shows to us many facets of his personality & life; he shows his vulnerabilities, a 'slip of the tongue or opinion' that we may not like' - this makes him genuine & real .....and hopefully we show to him that we are genuine & real, rather than 'all adoring' 100% of the time.

I don't believe I ever said I was 100% adoring all the time. In my case, "adore" does not apply. The only thing I expect of Andre is a great concert!
I know Shirley that many times I have said "adore" but it is just a figure of speech when I really think about it. The word adore is reserved for God. But I still say it sometimes not thinking of the real meaning but as an expression of how I feel about Andre. Does that make sense?

We all have our own words and individual ways of expressing things, and our own reasons for being an 'Andre fan'.
WORDS ON PAPER will not always truly reflect what any of Us really mean in relation to each other's understanding, perceptions or beliefs.
We are all here 'cos we love Andre...otherwise we would have joined the 'I hate Andre Rieu' site, or simply not bothered at all!
We all enjoy Andre, no matter what our differences in opinion!

Janice, I think you have a lot of common sense.I'm sorry, what I meant by "adore" is only that I, myself, do not adore any celebrity, not just Andre. I realize they are humans, just like us, famous or not. HA, I don't think I'm explaining myself very well here. I hope you see what I mean.
Don't be sorry, there is no need to be. Again, please forgive subsequent message so soon (I'm way too entrenched in Andre DVD's & lose track of everything - this is not particularly healthy but yet so enjoyable)!
ANDRE is a 'total package' as we see him, and I give accolades to all those who support him and help him to create and give a magical performance and help & support him in living his dream, as well of course to the individual talents of the Man himself!
I also know that Andre is a CORPORATION. Andre is not just a Musician....he has acumen & vision in many other areas as well as support from very talented Individuals.
I want Andre to be here for many more years to come as I'm sure you all do.
I love Andre & his Music, as well as his Corporate & Marketing 'savvy'; supported of course by a very talented Marjorie (love of his life) and others. Despite the critics - 'more power to the Rieu's', I say! As long as they give back to Society in some way, they deserve their rewards, and they will continue to be loved and appreciated! Hopefully, they will also be entertaining us and weaving romantic magic for us in the many years to come!
I'm quite sure that MAASTRICHT would not willingly 'hand out' a special award to Andre if his character was by any means in doubt! Such thing is a great honour.

I agree with the "adoring", Shirley, I never adored a star, that I was told when I learned English, is for GOD, if you believe in one.
'adoring' also means 'with great respect & affection.' I certainly don't worship Andre by having 'all things Andre' around my home or perceiving him as being more than human.
Does that include 6 beautiful posters, photographs, autographed items all over the music room? I do have all things Andre throughout the house but I really do think he is a human being albeit a most extraordinary one. : ) Hugs
Hi Jeanine Ann, we're all different aren't we? Some collect pictures, others use words to show their admiration & enjoyment of the Man and his talent/gift. Yes, he is 'extraordinary.'

In a World where bad news, destruction, deprivation of human rights, lack of moral fibre & family values, aggression & violence seem to be our regular morning breakfast in News headlines, I find Andre to be a very healthy adjunct (if not alternative in some cases) , even though we all in our different ways may be somewhat obsessive.

Hello MAY! In some parts of the United States, May Baskets are made. These baskets are small and usually filled with flowers or treats and left at someone's doorstep. The basket giver would ring the bell and run away. The person receiving the basket would try to catch the fleeing giver. If they caught the person, a kiss was to be exchanged.(this is according to research). Now I welcome the month of May, and I remember, as a child, making May baskets, filled with flowers, & hanging them on our neighbor's door knobs, & we did run away before anyone saw us, but if I had known about "the kiss" we might have stuck around a little longer!

I would like to suggest Andrea check out the choir at the Kriederkurk (St. Francis Catholic Church) Amsterdam. They would be a wonderful item on one of his albums. A great choir to take on tour. I always call in when I stay in Amsterdam. Truely a wonderful Choir.

Judith, i'm not sure which country or state you live in I live in nsw,& usually buy my dvds cds at JB HI,but for some reason they did'nt have You Raise Me Up so I got it at Sanity they are very good,give them a ring closest to you if they don't have it they will get it in,hope that helps you its the most beautiful cd,each time i think well he can't better this' then bingo what does The Good Man do, goes ahead & excells himself, but why am i surprised i'm not fay

After ordering You'll Never Walk Alone from Andre's own site which took some time to get here (probably due to volcano & air traffic delays), I made subsequent orders in Australia (Hans Music Spot)- same State, and delivery was just about two weeks. Still worth the wait rather than scour & scrounge everywhere when certain shops may not to in close proximity.
YOU WILL LOVE THE CD!

Judith depending on which DVD's and CD's you are looking for, Andre's web site has lots of his music, if they are released in Australia I get them through Hans Music Spot in Croydon Australia. He is a nice person and sometimes gives free shipping to his overseas friends. Amazon has lots of his music also. I've just watched 'A Dream Come True' from Andre's 5 DVD pack (Be My Love)and enjoyed it immensely. (Unfortunately relying on sub-titles as I have a problem with sound card in my DVD player just now). I think it's beautifully presented & gives much insight into the man himself and his life in many respects, as well as offering richness in history & scenic views. Much 'eye appeal' in many & varied respects.
Did I say that the 'tuxedo' did something for me??? Well, a glimpse of a bare chested Andre ironing his shirt made me forget about the Tux! (just as well this was a 'very' short teaser in the DVD, I say! - a moment more and I would need someone to scrape me up from the floor)!!!!
More seriously, watching him adoringly rock a baby in his arms & enjoy time with his dog was also special as such things can be rarely faked. Many other aspects of him enjoying life & being himself were there as usual. Also gotta love seeing a man calling his wife from the Supermarket and asking 'sweetheart/darling,love - where is it?'. That's a smidge of 'woman power' for all us Ladies in this one, as personally I chuckle every time I see/hear any guy in the Supermarket 'calling back to base' for help. Must say that what I usually witness in my local Supermarket is - 'hey, it's me again - where'd you say it was?' - Gotta wonder, but love the romance, ha, ha!!!!!!!!
I'm now looking forward to the other 4 DVD's in this set, as well as "Live in Dublin" DVD. I'm a Celtic, British, Aussie with an inherant love of Classical Music through my upbringing - Andre's doing everything right in my musical taste.....and more as you Ladies would appreciate!!!!!!!!!!
PS - Although I found this entertaining and enticing - I DO NOT BELIEVE that he irons his own shirts all the time!!!!!!! (ha, ha!!!).

I ordered a cd through that source and it took about a month to arrive - due to the volcano & plane hold ups I would imagine.
Perhaps just be prepared for undue delays if not purchased within your own Country.
I was looking & reading some of the news on Andre's site & was intrigued that Frank discovered the old carrillon in Capetown's City hall. According to them it hadn't been played for years. After some maintenance, Frank just had to play it. Can you imagine the thrill of hearing it, once again, in the town?
I saw that Shirley. He must have been thrilled. Frank is such a nice guy. I will never forget my chat with him in Reading, Pa. He was so interested in what I had to say and of course we talked about the violin. I felt so bad for him when those bells were stolen. I just could not believe it. What a terrible Christmas letdown. I guess he has the new bells by now but not sure. Hugs

I watched an Andre DVD tonite (one of many) which featured this, I also saw this recently on one of Andre's Ovation concerts some months back, but not sure under which Title.
I found this quite amazing and also find it such a shame that 'overall' this modern World does not always preserve such unique history.
I've watched a few Andre DVD's tonite, and am so besotted by the man (huh!!!) that I don't know one from the other just now. My thought is that Frank played the carrillon much closer to home with Andre - visions of Andre climbing many steps to the bell tower! I've not heard of the Capetown discovery. I do know that I was quite amazed as I'd never in my life heard of the 'carillon'....
Hi Janice, we have seen Frank play his mobile carillon in concerts. Many of our universities in the US have the big carillons, in fact our own Missouri State University has one on campus. It came from the Netherlands.I love to hear them play their chimes. I hadn't realized they had one in Africa though. It was interesting to find that out.

I'd not heard of a 'Carillon' at all prior to my introduction to Andre, and must say that I was very impressed by this, and also enjoyed. My 'concept' of unusual instruments has extended to CELTIC & GREEK so far in life.
I love Musical culture & history, and also hope that we never lose this in the future!

Hi Shirley, yes, Frank did feature in Andre's DVD which was also shown on Ovation. It seems that Frank became assistant to his Dad, Mathieu (around 1995), and that Dad Mathieu had been responsible/Caretaker etc., for the Carillon in Maastricht since 1952! I cannot totally guarantee the info. I have posted - kind regards.
I've just watched 'Songs from My Heart' DVD! Thoroughly enjoyable!
To see such hugs & embraces of appreciation for 'job well done', and 'I love you son/Dad' as well as tears of relief and joy between Father and son is very special. Pierre did look quite dark-eyed, over-worked drained at times - I do hope that Pierre has enough time to be with his wife and enjoy his babies between commitments to Dad!

a few of you have nominated dvds if you can buy Maastricht3, as the saying goes in Australia Its a bottler, really of all that we have 34 I personally think it's the best,He invited wind players from Limburg to contact him to come along to play,500 came after a bit of selecting 400 were left,you have to watch it to appreciate it,plus the extras at the end,boy what a concert,with Himself playing Ben in memory of Micheal Jackson, Carmen singing THe Earth song so so much more it a very good dvd I think its the very best. also have any of you read MY MUSIC MY LIFE< very funny in parts there is one part written by His brother Robert, who tells of a time when they were all serving Mass Andre'would only serve if he could do the inscence, he got a bit bored with swinging left to right, so decided to swing up over round & round, so fast he could'nt stop it you'll have to buy the book to read the rest; sorry if I've just wetted your appetite ;fay
Faye,Maastricht # 3 is a good one. I think I like Mirusia singing the panis angelicus, but the whole dvd is great. As far as the "best", haha, who knows, I change my mind all the time.
And you are right about the book. When I first heard Andre on tv & found out he had a web site, that is one of the first things I ordered. It is getting well worn by now & I soon must replace it, only because Andre & some of the JSO have autographed it. One day I had left it laying on the sofa & I came back into the room & my cat, Jazz, had chewed a tiny bit off the corner. You can bet she got a spritz from the water bottle!
Last night I was listening to one of my favorite Andre cds, Beethoven,Bach, Mozart & Haydn, to name a few, can't get much better than that. Music for dreaming, certainly true because I was so relaxed by the end, as I told Jeanine Ann, I felt like a wet noodle, just ready to slide out of my chair.
Hi Shirley, I have heard 'Panis Angelicus' many times, and by various Vocalists including my own Mother who had a beautiful voice.
Mirusia does wonderful justice to this, and many other pieces. I love her voice!
Guess what, Shirley, my Maxi is a Max after all, took him to the Vet, she said: he is about 3 years old and fixed and he had a tape worm, but got meds and I think we licked it. He is such a good BOY. Vic is not used to it yet, he still calls him SHE, haaaaaaaaaa!
Yikes!Well at least you know for sure now.Max looks like a contented cat for sure. when we got Jazz, they told us she had been spayed too, but we found out about 2 weeks later, not so!She went into heat & drove us nuts til we found out what was wrong. we took care of that little problem right away.
Shirley I asume your jazz is cat,my jasper gets jazz on occasions, as much as i love him if he chewed my book he'd be in big trouble Ilike to think in human terms and think he knows better??? ha also the dvd My Music My Life is also good its only a documentary but a good one showing the emotions between Andre' & his Son we could all learn a good lesson from them both also it show Parts of The Castle ,its interesting to know that Andre' went there as a child to learn the piano hated it, the teacher & the castle because it was dark & dingy, but when he was able he bought it & it is no longer dark or dingy,you get a good look at parts of it we could all learn from Him but then as I think about it,are'nt we learning some precious gems from The Great Man,I think if He were in charge of world events we would soon have PEACE,its not a job I would wish on him though ,i much prefer what he does now I look back & its only a period of 18 months ago I'd never heard of Andre, I went Christmas Shopping with my daughter,I,d had a bad viris christmas shopping was not on my list of important things to do,i looked up & saw this 'guy' playing the violin & said to my daughter that will do me i just want to get home, well all those months &so many dvds later I still can't get enough of THE MAN or his music & his jso they all look so happy God Bless Them All;

Jeanine Ann, on the 3rd you put up a link to watch Andre's interview with Alan Jones. I listened to it and was able to hear a portion of the music "You Raise Me Up" played by Andre. OMG, it's incredibly beautiful! It prompted me to purchase the cd...of course I don't need too much prompting, but I hadn't planned on buying anything at that moment. It doesn't take much for me to buy any new music by Andre.
Anyway, thanks for putting that up Jeanine Ann. I haven't had too much time in the past few months to really get involved in anything other than work of course. I do have my alone time in my car as I drive around to listen to my special music by Andre Rieu!
Maybe sometime soon, I'll be back to "normal"...whatever that is. I do know that listening to Andre is extremely important for me...I do enjoy his music so very much!

IT has no 271 8514,it is also a limited edition hopefully that has been of help to you,I know you can't buy A dream come true on its own here in Australia, it took me a while to find it worth looking for ; fay
Hi Faye, I didn't know there was a 5 dvd set of all those, but I already have each individual dvd, except the Dream Come True. I do remember seeing Frank race up all those stairs but can't remember which dvd it is right now. My problem is I can't always remember on which dvd is what! I admire all those who can tell you where & what & when, it's just not something I can do well.
I do need to buy a few of his later ones though as I've gotten behind a little. I could go bankrupt very easily if I don't watch it!
Oh I love Dream Come True. I play it all the time. I love when he plays Jealousy. He does it sooo uh sexy may I say. : ) And at the end when he is standing by the window at the top of the tower and looking out he says "My Maastricht" I have tears rolling down my face. His dream come true is our dream come true! Hugs

I love "Jealousy" too & use it as my ringtone but wait until you hear "Autumn Leaves" on the latest CD "You Raise Me Up". There are so many Andre violin solos on the new CD - his Stradivarius sounds so beautiful & mature, and it shows off his incredible talent that he tends to hide.
'Il Silenzio' has always sent a chill up my spine! As I listen right now, Andre's presentation is much more sensitive and mellow than some I have heard. I cry every time - and remember!!!!
I have 'resorted' to 'You Tube clips' in search of Andre, in absence of co-operation of Home Entertainment systems just now.
Have you noticed the imagery which gives one a 'feeling' of connection outside One's own reality? This is truly romantic!
I'm emotionally 'shattered' almost every time I hear or see a Rieu performance. Different for all of Us, depending on our own experience in life and of course, Individual tastes in music.
Janice, I go to you tube a lot myself, especially when I don't want to load the vcr for one or two songs I'd like to hear at the moment.I have marked so many as my favorites now, but I especially look for ones with the facial expressions, like Wolgied, or Spanish Eyes & even the Godfather.
Hi Shirley, I looked these up & particularly like Spanish Eyes & The Godfather. We can always see his love, feeling & passion for his music, but such a difference when he shows it through his eyes. I don't like being 'unglued' but ooooohhhh!!!!!

Andre has a very 'real' message in that 'MUSIC HAS THE POWER TO HEAL LIKE NOTHING ELSE.' I must waiver from this a little and say that 'healing needs' are specific to any Individual. I truly believe that music has the power to heal, combined or apart from any other 'relevent' modality needs in therapy.
I work in the field of 'healing' myself.
Who/what heals the mind, heart & soul of another Healer or Individual I guess depends on the needs of any Individual in need of, or search of healing of the mind, heart & soul.
It's all about touching the heart, souls & minds of Others who seek help & healing, and awakening 'the senses'.
Although I don't TOTALLY agree with Andre's comment, I do share with you that I have found much healing in Andres's music in particular.

Oh Judith, I am sorry about your poor blood sugar and blood pressure. I realize that is the affect that Andre has on us ladies. I just don't take my blood pressure when I am watching him. Sugar I don't need to worry about which is good. He is sugar enough. I make a point not to watch a DVD at night because I would never sleep and that would be bad. I need about 9 hours or I am terrible all day. I wonder if Andre is aware of all the physical problems he is responsible for (haha). We are all complete wrecks! But oh what a way to go.

Is there one you can recommend? I still can't get sound on my DVD's (damn) so can't judge from these as there are some tracks I'm not familiar with.
If not, I might need to raise a petition - ha, ha!!!!!

I agree with Jeanine Ann on this one. Two others you might like are the Romantic Paradise and Musik zum traumen. All three have some very relaxing, dreamy music.
Another nice CD is "Dreaming" and "At The Movies". They have very nice songs and would be considered soothing.
You know "Raise Me Up" came just in time for Mother's Day! It is so gorgeous I could hardly turn it off - I had to get a few things done after church like going to see my sister for mother's day. I have never heard Andre play so beautifully and I was getting too many goosebumps to survive so I thought I had better take a break. If you get only one CD, it must be this one! OMG the CD came today!! I have not heard it yet. I always go through the booklet first thing to discover any beautiful photos - OMG nobody warned me of those two gorgeous photos of Andre!! Now guess who is becoming unglued!
My tickets for Wilkes-Barre concert arrived also. We are in Row C, center, seats 1 and 2. I expected that because the lady told me the first two rows are reserved for the Andre Experience tickets. Now my question is if these two rows are not sold and people are still buying tickets and can pay the $300.00 per person which we paid and I was the very first to call, are they getting these better seats? I keep checking the ticketmaster site and so far not one $1,500.00 seat has been sold. I am going to call my contact on Monday and ask her this. Now I am not saying we have bad seats because they are not but I am talking about fairness and the fact that first caller should have the benefit of the better seats. Did anyone else ever wonder about this? Thanks and big hugs to all!

Good luck with your ticket situation; you have a very valid point there. I would understand them holding back a bit just in case there was to be uptake on front rows at higher price for such experience, but would also imagine anyone wanting to secure these seats would do so quickly. Why would they want to see the most expensive front rows vacant on the night? It would perhaps affect Andre's profits if these seats weren't readily available for those who wanted the 'experience' yet didn't have best seats. The more you pay the more you expect, eh? Yet I think it's better to have a $300 ticket holder in best seats if no takers for the extra benefits!

Jeanine Ann, I ordered tickets for Montréal before they went on sale on TV because they sent me a card with André´s picture on it and I phoned in and asked if I could have center seats, I do not care first or 5th row, but I do not want seats on the side. She told me, it could be arranged. Now I have not got the tickets yet, if they send me tickets first row outside, I will send them back, I paid in US $ 35O.- for that price I want to choose my tickets or they can keep them. They always said that first come first serve, so I shall see. Inge
Just came home from Ottawa, the German Consulate to get my passport renewed and found my tickets for June 25 in the mail box. We got dead center in the 2nd row parterre, that is almost on the stage, so they kept their promise. Now we are looking forward to the concert, only Carla will not be with them, perhaps Carmen??????????

I was just in Carla Maffioletti´s web and read the comments about her in the German paper from Giessen where she is busy with "Hoffmann´s Erzählungen from Jaque Offenbach (Olympia), the "Zauberflöte" Mozart, she sings there the Queen of the night and the Papagena, she got for the Olympia the biggest applause for a single scene ever. She also sings in other Operas. She should make it to the Scala in Minlano and the Met in N.Y.C. she is one of the greatest talents. I hope she makes it and then André can say:" I have discovered her!"

Good monday morning to all of you,Janice, I've looked through my cds, Feast is good it also has recipes,Andre'in Hollywood is lovely it has a lot of movie themes like Lara's theme, Edelweiss; etc. Ive just bought also Andre'Rieu The 100 most beautiful melodies it's a 6 cd set, in Australia I paid $40-00 not expensive for 6 glorious cds there are some good pictures as well as good music,there's one of Andre that looks like he has a huge bandaid coming off his face;Going back to You Raise Me Up,how about the messages inside good eh! I have a habit of smelling books (new ones) I felt I could almost smell the roses,a bonus with the cd The Great Man does'nt :only: give us music I really can't put into words what Himself, & His music does for my Daughter & I,our home is a much happier place; Janice tea in bed may not help you sleep it has caffiene in it try hot chocolate or a malt drink there are a lot on the market taken with An Andre'Rieu cd or 2 Fay

Ha, ha - yes! Most men his age have little or no hair. I'm not a fan of long hair on mature men but it does suit him very well-and I notice he is going a 'tad' shorter with age.

Gee Janice I didn't notice Andre getting any shorter; my husband if 6 feet tall and he towered above him on our photo. Of course with me everyone is taller since I am only 5 feet short. : ) Hugs
I'm talking about the hair!!! Tiny bit by bit over the years as he ages. I'd have no idea what height he is but am sure he is taller than me also at 5'4 and a bit (the 'bit' is very important). I don't get the impression from photos that Andre is exceptionally tall, perhaps a bit taller than average for a man - but exceptionally tall compared to me (doesn't that count for a lot in a man's height & presence???). Oh God, forgive me - I'm only a woman!!!

Janice I spend my days either looking for Andre information or putting stories on the blog. My husband and I sometimes take a break and go to Starbucks so I can listen to my CD's in the car. Then I come home, check the blog and do whatever I must there. Practice my violin for one hour (daily), throw a meal together during which time I am eating I am working on the blog. In the evening I watch a movie or concert (the movie is for my husband's sake so I don't end up in divorce court (actually he likes Andre also), during which time I work on the blog. At 11:00 we get to bed. Now during all these things, I feed the cats, do the laundry, clean once in a while when I can fit it in, go to church, etc (the etc. is very small) I am beginning to think that Andre IS my life (except for my husband) and I fit everything else in. I also go to a concert or two during my year. So you can see I have everything down pat - Andre, Andre and Andre (haha) I am completely gone over him. Hugs

Hi Janice, just 2 1/2 years. I just play for my family if they can stand it. : ) It is very difficult. I took lessons until it got too expensive. I will go back for some more lessons later. I really love it. I should have started when I was young but my Mother played piano so I played piano. But now I have forgotten everything. I am determined to learn to play this beautiful instrument that my muse plays. I am playing a lot of the easier songs and trying to learn the scales as I go. Andre is the reason I started. (of course!!) Hugs

Hi all, I love all the comments about the CD's & DVD's. What would we all do without Jeanine & the fantastic photos she finds!
I usually put a CD into the computor & also forget about the time. I often go to bed with a DVD playing & wake up after it has finished.
Maxine, sometimes I'm asleep before the finish of a CD, other times I stay awake, but either way it keeps my thoughts positive. Even though I cry more than I ever used to , there is no sadness - only very deep feeling and release of emotion which helps me identify what's happening inside me. Sometimes I initially think I am sad and unhappy as the emotion is so intense & real; yet this is not usually the case.
Jeanine Ann is certainly a 'treasure' to all of Us here.

I got behind on voting also due to the fact that there is so much news and so much to look for even when things are quiet. Hi Fay, I had trouble voting today, even though it was more than 24 hours since my first vote & had verification of success.
Also want to share this - I have heard & seen a number of Violinists these past couple of years. A number of these I enjoy immensely for their Individual & unique talent & the joy they give me when various moods take me, and I will certainly continue to enjoy their style of music & watch on Ovation or DVD.
I MUST ALSO SAY THIS -
'NOBODY DOES IT FOR ME LIKE ANDRE DOES'.
Perhaps because he strikes every chord in every way with me according to my musical taste & lifetime classical music experience to begin with. It's a bonus that he touches my heart & soul according to my own values & belief systems in what he gives, shares & shows. Of course, being incredibly handsome just 'ices the cake!' and we need our lovely Jeanine Ann to keep on giving us great pics!

Janice, you might have to wait a little longer than the actual 24 hours. I haven't seemed to have any trouble. I'm like you, as far as violinists go. My favorites were always Yehudi Menuhin and Issac Stern, but with Andre came a whole new picture. He is completely different in the way he presents himself & the orchestra. He's in a class by himself. As another fan once said, he's "classy, classical, and classic". I couldn't say it any better than that. And don't worry, I think Jeanine Ann will be more than happy to oblige with the pictures.

Myleen Klass has just been interviewed on TV (UK)as she is presenting The Classical Brit Awards tonight.As usual she mentioned everone else like Dame Kiri, yes understand that Katherine Jenkins again understand that Rhydian--What!! Did she mention that the Fabulous Andre would be there. Oh No of course not Grrr I don't know why I take it so personally but I do.Considering he had the highest ever charting Instrumental Album here with Forever Vienna why oh why doesn't he get promoted here
Anyway I'll calm down now I've got that off my chest. I do believe it will be shown on TV next Tuesday night so I shall be glued to the TV. Going to put on Forever Vienna now and have my daily fix

As you say Andre is a great talent which is being denied by coverage, by the media her in the UK, they just don't know what they are missing.
Hopefully they will soon wake up, now if it was a rock star he/she would be splashed over everything.
Yes it does anger me as to why this classy great musician is being denied, a decent chance here in the UK, I think it is perhaps the media really don't know class or don't want to know when they hear it.
Hopefully when Andre and the JSO will make a big breakthrough when they tour the UK, then perhaps the media will wake up.
I do my best in the town where I live, to get people interested in the Maestro, and I have manage to convert quite a few now, the comments I have had back, wow what have we been missing, they just can't get enough of Andre.

Hi Debbie, it amazes me! I do know that Manchester area is very working class (I was born & raised there in my early years, & still have close relatives there)...yet, no matter what, this area has always been so rich in history, and so loving & appreciative of musical culture, and involved in same.
I live in Melbourne and just 'happened across' Andre in recent years. Andre wants to 'reach the people' and his marketing is high impact however I don't think his marketing team is quite targeting where it really wants and needs to be. Example is his Billboard on Melbourne (white) Taxis. I live in Melbourne, take taxis often yet can't remember ever seeing an Andre billboard on a taxi - especially a white taxi - mostly yellow or Black Taxis here in Melb.(?) - makes me wonder where I've been these past few years. Probably true to say that busy City people walk around with their eyes closed most days! I first heard of Andre on 'Ovation' channel - a story about a guy, his music & his Castle...ho, hum, no appeal to me at all - so I switched off (wish I hadn't). Then some time after I saw his face on a DVD whilst in a line at Post Office - again, ho, hum -some good looking guy with a violin. Thank God for OVATION channel - if I weren;'t a night owl on many occasion I would probably never have heard of Andre. From this I saw my first Andre concert - and now cannot get enough!!!
I just can't imagine the UK, with all it's cultural values, not accepting Andre....must wonder if Andre's marketing team could do better, or is it really the UK????

I found the results & a brief mention of Andre on classicalbrits.co.uk Also in the Times-online, Andre, Bryn Terfel & Villazon were the only performers mentioned in addition to the winners - so AR's performance must have been really good to be mentioned in Times despatch. On classical Brit Awards Twitter site, with its minute by minute entries, Andre & JSO appeared to be on early in the program and it said their performance was "wonderful", and also the show will be replayed next Tuesday on ITV in UK.

Good afternoon ladies
Well I have been home alone today But was I lonely. Oh no I can quite unashamedly tell you I spent several wonderful hours alone with Andre. Firstly he escorted me around his beautiful home telling me about all it's fascinating history. Leo Schofield put in an appearance occasionaly and asked Andre a few questions but I didn't mind. Then dear friends in his very own kitchen he cooked me his favourite meal whilst we listened to some of his fabulous music and enjoyed a glass of his favourite wine. The time passed far to quickly though and before too as if by magic my handsome Prince was gone and I found myself back in my own kitchen just like cinderella. But Oh how I enjoyed myself xx

Does anyone amongst us have such artisctic flair to produce a lifetime treasure here for our friend Shirley - or know someone who can? I'm thinking along the lines of pottery & glazeware????? If baby bootees & baby shoes can be moulded & preserved in china, greenware, goldcast, metalcast etc.,....surely there is someone out there, somewhere, with Artistic talent enough to just copy the shoes from a photo and go for it!!!!!

but I have two daughters which I have to answer to. They are terrible to me.- they tell me how I waste my time following Andre - that there are 1,000 really way more important things to be doing. I just found out that they have somehow found out what I have been posting on the blog and advised me to grow up and get a life. I am so very
hurt, I feel like I am the kid and they are the parents. They told me how foolish I am to spend my money to buy Andre's CD and DVD's. This nastiness is just a tip of the ice berg when they get
so insulting to me. They have actually stopped giving me a hand if I run into a problem at home or a problem with my car; so I have been trying to do my own fix me upper. I hope none of you girl's
have such terrible children. When my mum was ill, I quit my job to take care of her, and made her days on earth such a happy experience. Let me tell you all,

Dear Judith, my heart goes out to you. It's a very sad thing to know that your own children would deprive you of a happy heart and enjoyment in such a way. I could not imagine dictating my Parents lives to them or depriving them of well deserved happiness in any way.
I never had children myself although I desperately wanted to when I was younger, yet seeing what I've seen in life I can now say that perhaps I have been blessed or spared in some way - who is to know?

I only got into being a fan of Andre, when I spotted his CD Forever Vienna, in our Album charts, up till then I had never heard of him, but like you I am trying to make up for lost time, it is such a shame that he doesn't get the recognition this great man deserves.
Unfortunately I am not able to go and see him live as I have some elderly people that I take of. Oh how I wish I could have gone hopefully Andre will tour again.

I've just been talking with relatives in UK (City of Bradford/Manchester) and am astounded that they've not heard of Andre! It's usually the case that I hear of European talent from them way before I hear of them here in OZ. I would think that in their own locality they would hear much and see much on via media advertising , especially with Andre's Manchester concert coming up so soon. Hopefully it's a case of them not paying particular attention and that Andre's Manchester concert will be sold out!

OH JUDITH I have just read what your family are doing to you I have to feel sorry for them they are missing out on so much by not taking time to listnen to Andre', what you do in your own time,in your car, in your house, is your business be strong girl YOU ARE WOMAN,they perhaps would prefere you to drink & or smoke, in oz an Andre' dvd is cheaper than a pkt. cigarettes, my Son told me the price on saturday what a shock, Janice there is a statement, YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS,BUT NOT YOUR FAMILY; keep listning, watching & enjoying THE GREAT MAN,; I work in a charity shop on saturdays, I take my player & 3 Andre' cd & play them people come in to browse listnen sometimes buy,they love His music ;I was a bit worried about copyright, I wrote to Andre' 18 months ago heard nothing back so it must be ok,I'd stopped playing them for a bit,till my customers asked why,so we are back to BEAUTIFUL MUSIC, I feel so sorry for your family we all know what they are missing,be Andre' strong,listnen to some of His marches, march up & down to them, turn your music up & bloody enjoy it ;Fay
Excellent advice there Fay, and more power to Judith! I'm fortunate to have good family despite problems in the past, and good friends too.
I might catch on to your marching advice as well as I've been plagued with back problems after a serious accident a few years back and can't do anywhere near what I used to do in walking or exercise that jolts my spine or aggrevates the injury. I could start off very gingerly and work upwards...and the best thing is nobody will have to see me and I'll still be getting an Andre fix!!!

Living in Victoria, Australia, I can't get my head around spring, beautiful flowers & snow on the mountains all in one photo! Phew Ladies. I've just had to sit down and get my breath back Put Forever Vienna on to make my housework more enjoyable. Armed with bright yellow feather duster made a good start but then got carried away dancing with my feather duster as an imaginary Andre and conducting an imaganary orchestra Think the men in white coats will be coming for me soon!! Jeanine Ann ,thanks for the advice on how to save photos I've done that all I have to do now is learn how to get said photos out of box, talking of Christmas,I have a dvd a very early one, of Andre' celebrating in a very big barn, with animals, children & a few adults,Andre' then goes into The Church & plays Iv'e not watched it for a long time so don't remember the title I do have the Christmas one with the Japanese children, which is very lovely, Andre' seems to have the nack of it being entertaining, but not detracting from the reason for the season, we must admire Him for this , but I'm sharing with Andre' " Admirers" so it nothing new is it;?????oooxxx

Good Afternoon ladies. It is 16 50hrs on a lovely sunny afternoon her in UK and I am suffering with withdrawal symptoms. We have had an electricity power cut all day as they have been doing maintenance work so I have had NO Andre and NO chat with my online friends

I just got the cd "You Raise Me Up". It's fantastic!
I absolutely agree that the power of the human spirit has the ability to rise above all the challenges that life throws at us. When I read his words on this new cd and then listened to the incredible version of “You Raise Me Up” you have no idea how happy and at peace I was.
This cd has some incredible songs that I will never tire of hearing…
Il Silencio, The Rose, I Dreamed a Dream, You Raise Me Up, Autumn Leaves, Andre's violin solo’s are beyond any words I could find to explain them.
Yes Fay, I notice he tends to use his 'whole body language', i.e., face & body in same direction which is actually a really positive thing. I'm not being a 'smart alec' when I say this, but he might also have necks problems from all those years with a violin stuck under his chin.

I love to hear them play this one. the first time we heard it was at our first concert. A few people came up to the front to dance & a young man really stole the show, he had moves I've never seen before! There's a video this is on, but I can't remember which one right now, where Alicja, the harpist, really gets into it. You have to laugh at her. This is always one of the popular numbers. Andre has some pretty good moves in this one doesn't he? Poor Jeanine Ann.

EST. They will be playing "Bolero", to which Jayne Torvill, Christopher

I have just had a great couple of hours, with Andre on a DVD, with fantastic smile and his gorgeous blue eyes, and of course his music. a most enjoyable time, and my greyhound just laid on her back with feet in the air, and went to sleep. whilst I just wallowed in Andre. xx

cute kitty Hercules, you seem to have numerous cats as I used to have, but 4 of my 5 died , all over l4 years old and rescues from the street, but now I have one l2 year old left and a new one, he is quite a charmer, finally Poubelle and Max get along, but only tolerate each other, I am already happy with that, but hope that in time they become friends???

Hi Inge. Of my original four only Benny is left. I didn't get pets until later in life because my mother was allergic to them. All of mine are strays also and they have all been wonderful cats. Benny doesn't really like the others although has gotten so he will lick Eddy (after five years). The other three now tolerate each other. Benny pretty much stays in, Eddy is fat and lazy but very easy going, Johann Strauss roams the apartment complex and I usually have to look for him before it gets dark, Hercules has started going out on his own now but, except for once, always comes when I call him. I hope he doesn't start following Joey around. Of course Joey has taught him how to catch things. Don't say cats don't know what's going on....when I first let Hercules out, the others would stay right with him, didn't roam around at all. They were certainly showing him the ropes. I have just discovered that a man at the other end of this apartment complex has a sunken tub in his yard into which he puts his goldfish in summer. Oh, God. I can't believe that Joey won't bother them. I don't know what I'll do. I can't keep him in because he lives to be out. I make him come in at night and he doesn't even like that. He had been found outside at the age of 6 mos and that's where he wants to be. (Except when he's afraid then he wants to come in and rub against me).
Hi Virginia, your cat stories sound a lot like my own. I wished only sometimes we could know more about their back ground. I always find people like you who love and help strays. I always wanted a pure bred cat, but I found so much love in the strays I saved and that is much more rewarding.

Last year friends from England came to visit us here in Australia. I was very surprised to find they had never heard of Andre. So I put that to rights and they couldn't understand why he was so unknown in the UK either.
Anyway, I've just received an email from them this morning with the following comment -
Jill you would not believe how popular Andre Rieu now is over here - he is on many programmes and they regularly advertise his new CD, I can't say I have never heard of him now!!
So I was happy to hear that. Hopefully the whole world will know of and enjoy him before too long. I find it frustrating we could have been enjoying him for 30 years instead of about five.

Aha, I never stopped being naughty Judith, it was only anaesthetic and post operative morphine that took my thoughts and attention away for a bit. It doesn't matter that the belly hurts and I can't move fast as I am now drug free and can pay attention!

Hi, Jo in answer to your question i to have tickets for 02. So if i hear someone screaming - it will be you??? WE all wonder why he is "not too well known" in the UK. well i think his PR team should do more promotion. Advertise his DVD.s so people can see him and JSO and how they interact. Not everyone likes classics and until you see and hear Andre and co.people just don't know what they are missing. I am not into classical in a big way but do like "light" classics which in my opinion is Andre. I know none or not many will agree with what i am going to say but as great as the singers are Carla,Tenors etc, i personally prefer to listen and watch just Andre and JSO. One or two songs would be lovely - but the dvd.s i have of his more recent shows they are on stage most of time and i feel this takes something away from the orchestra. That's just my opinion. Love the pictures more to add to my already overloaded Andre folder.

Personally I would be happy with just Andre he is so gorgeous and his accent when he speaks in English just blows me away Of course he has to have JSO and other guests sometimes BUT not too much please. Could you really imagine dear Marjorie approving of an Andre 'touchy,feely,dressable' doll? - Me thinks not! The mind boggles at where that might all end with all us crazy (but nice) ladies following him. Maybe we should think along the lines of 'social responsibility' on this one -as hard as it might be. You might just have to buy the jigsaw puzzle my friend....maybe they will market a jigsaw puzzle with only Andre on it!

Fay, I think something very acceptable would be a 'MAESTRO ANDRE' Doll meant as a Collector's item for keeping in a Curio or Crystal Cabinet, with violin, with hair, and with fabric Tux. 'glued' on & not meant to be removed - or played with. Something like the Collector's dolls one collects from various Countries they travel through! Which means you probably still need to consider a Andre jig saw to keep your hands busy! ha, ha......

Good morning Fay. I hope you have a wonderful day. That rock video is a little series of songs in a concert in which Manoe (as Shirley told us) sings some rock songs and Andre is trying to play something different. I forget the concert but can look it up.
I have an Andre doll which was made by Inge. I will put a photo on. Don't worry the Tux is glued on (haha). I am crazy too Fay so we all have that in common. But who can blame us - anyone who is not crazy about that gorgeous man must be quite dead.

Good morning, I went to bed last night & realised what a dill I am,its many years since I went to school, I don't travel out of OZ, so I'd forgotten about the time line; More lovely photos, I prefere Andre as he is now, those little grey side burns are dare I say it SEXY,also the laugh lines near His eyes they too say a lot about The Man ;Jeanine Ann, I have that dvd where Manoe spices things up, I have'nt looked yet but I think Its Gala New Years Eve, also the one with Dame Edna is Live in Sydney 2009, we were at that concert, we went the first night when The Dame dropped Andre's Violin the huge gasp from the audience, a lot of that night could not go on dvd , The Dame can be very risque , I think Andre was brilliant,we so enjoyed ourselves, it was for my Daughters 50th, birthday, I'm her carer, she had the choice of party or Andre'she chose correctly, & enjoyed herself soooo much, but really I don't need to tell all of you that you all know how brilliant The Man is,we all love Him I fancy, I'm off for my 2nd. Print off a photo of Andre, cover it with tracing paper and trace it out in lead pencil. Then place tracing paper (pencil side down) onto art paper or copying paper, then colour in to your heart's content. Remember doing that at school? (I know that was a long time ago for us). That'll keep you busy until we come up with other ideas. HUGS

with what life threw at me. I become a very happy camper. 'all smiles' :}
I dream of being able to listen to Andre play the violin, without any other music...just Andre and his violin music...what a sound...and it seemed to be getting farther and farther away because I haven't heard Andre play any solos for a long time. Then "You Raise Me Up" comes along and there are several nice solos from Andre. I keep hitting the back button on my car cd player to hear them again and again and again. mmmmmm how incredibly beautiful they are, I can't get enough of them!
Marlene, I think you need a cd player with a 'repeat all' button to save your poor fingers from wearing down to the bone, ha, ha!!!

Antonín Dvorák (1841-1904) "Song to the Moon", from Rusalka
First performed in Prague in 1901, "Rusalka" was the eighth of Dvorak's nine operas and has remained his most popular. The story was adapted by Jaroslav Kvapil from Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid" - relocated to Bohemia, with a Czech water-spirit or Rusalka in the principal role. Rusalka loves a mortal prince; a witch grants her humanity, but the romance doesn't work out and she returns, heartbroken, to the water where she joins her beloved in death. The "Song to the Moon" comes from Act I. From her woodland pool, Rusalka sings of her longing in the shimmering moonlight - "Silver moon upon the deep, dark sky.tell me, tell me, oh where does my loved one bide?"
Hi Again Prudence Now I do feel a right nit wit Didn't realise (now I do of course) those are the actual words from the Opera Rusalka translated into English. I have listened to it time and time again on a CD I have but of course never sung in English. I have always loved it and now I know the words love it even more. Thanks to you writing those touching words I have also looked up the opera on the internet and now know what it is about and it's a beautiful story Thankyou xx
If you watch "Andres Australian Adventures" you will see the braces when Pierre has to wake him up before the Brisbane concert to tell him about the storm.
Oh deary me!! I can ceertainly be accused of being critical as I have done this before, but trying really hard to get out of such habit. Whether he has a crown or two, a bridge etc., - at least he's made a great effort to keep himself looking good. (No offence, but some things are just sacred); let's enjoy what we see without actually 'dissecting the Man'.

Hi Marlene, sorry if I was a little vague in my comments regarding the Andre book. This book can be ordered but not if you live outside the Netherlands. It is in Dutch only but a lot of fans want it anyway because it has a DVD with it. By posting your name here I can email the address by which you can order it. The time limit has been put on by the people who are selling it. I would imagine there is a limited amount available so we can order only until June 4th. I do not understand you guys, why can´t you wait until it is translated in English or German, because I am sure , André will not pass the opportunity to sell this on the worlds market, first his country and then the rest of the world, he will most likely sell it in his boutique later, just like his son´s paintings, all for the money he needs to pay his debts.
Hi Inge, I support and 'buy' Andre no matter what the language, as long as there is music and/or visuals/sub-titles that I can understand in English - I admire & appreciate him this much.
As much as I absolutely love this man,his talens & gifts, - his debts, obligations & risks are his own issue - just like the rest of us on very much a smaller scale!
As long as Andre is who and what we believe him to be, and he keeps providing what we love most about him - we will keep buying and supporting him.
I love Andre & his talent immensely - but all said and done, 'a regular guy' does not live in a Castle with 'gold leaf' plastered everywhere to be seen.
Andre lives an oppulent lifestyle with a certain amount of eccentricity at play. He is entitled to his rewards and I do not deny this, but simply state that 'he has taken calculated risks'....He is, after all, and EMPIRE these days.....as much as he could win, he could lose!!! That is not our issue! For as long as Andre is the beautiful, talented, honourable man that he shows to us - he will keep on succeeding, and we will keep on enjoying what he gives us. HUGS!!
Inge, I can wait! I don't know if it will be released later in English or not, but why only Dutch? Wouldn't you think he would want to make it available to all fans?
Anyway, I don't read Dutch so it is of no use to me.
Well, I can't read Dutch either...so the book will be of no use, unless I do decide later to actually learn the language (long shot, due to time)the dvd is of interest to me of course! Whether he speaks Dutch or English (I would hope a subtitle would be available)...I just enjoy something NEW. I know we just got a nice cd, but I'm ready for the next NEW item from Andre.
He certainly has spoiled us in wanting more and more of his music and cd's/dvd's/books...whatever it is...because we, well, at least I am...always searching for something that I don't have. I "want" because I'm happy with what I hear and see from Andre. I "want" because his music and his products serve a purpose which is relaxation for me, peace, happiness, and just plain beautiful music.
He, like everyone else I've ever liked in my life, makes me happy.

Hi Ladies, I see your comments as you do mine. We all love 'The Man' so much that it's hard not to scrutinise. I have been guilty of this myself in the past. We all love the Man, his music, the romance he creates & gives to Us. I find it inconceivable that Andre is perfect in every way, right down to his dental work (or not)! The man is HUMAN asd we all are. For a man of his age he is AMAZING!!!!
Some things are sacred and some things are better left to our (wonderfully) wicked imaginations. xo
I have to laugh sometimes at all the things people "see", many things I've never noticed before, so I guess I'm one of the few who don't scrutinise much. I certainly don't expect perfection, in anyone. Someone once said, the only thing about being imperfect is the joy it brings others. I think I must bring a lot of people joy!

At the end of the day, Andre is just one gorgeous and talented man making the best of everything he's got to entertain and please us all. I would hate to think that anyone in my life would 'scrutinise' my physical being, appearance & presentation in a such a way that it took from or criticised what was in my heart & soul, the extent of my gifts, talents or abilities, or even a natural ageing process. Am I perfect? - NO!!!! - I have 'nit-picked' on occasions but try to stay away from things that shouldn't matter to me. IMAGINATION, DREAMS, ROMANCE are wonderful tools for all of Us.....Andre just adds to our 'toolbox'. He is a man, - not 100% perfect as we like to imagine - just a naturally talented and lovely man who has become a genius at showing us the magic possible in our lives!

Hi Josephine, no, I don't think anyone was offended at all. We are just acting like friends, sometimes we go off in tangents & our minds wander a bit, but we do have fun. To those who do think Andre is perfect, I have no problem with that either. I was just thinking how unobservant I am sometimes, some can notice a lot of different things & it seems I am usually in "duh" land. I like everyone's thoughts & opinions, I learn a lot that way. I like our diversity!
Hi Girls, I tried to catch up on all the comments just now and I gather you were speaking about our "perfect" Andre again (haha) I guess I will not comment too much since I am the original "Andre can do no wrong kid" but I guess even I cannot say he is perfect - ooooh that hurt! I agree with Shirley though in saying I like our diversity. Wouldn't it be boring if we were all here drooling over the perfect Andre : ) I just love the fact that we all love him - perfect or not. I so look forward to all the comments I read here every day. I love putting the photos on (which I did not get to do today - yet!) for you. Everything I do here is for you dear fans and of course to promote Andre. The more I can do the better I love it. I know Sally and every other moderator feels the same way. As for the braces I will have to review that DVD again where Pierre goes to awaken his dad. I remember that but cannot say I noticed his teeth nor anything else in particular. Good morning all have just voted,remember I'm hours ahead of most of you, took me awhile to work that out; A life size wax model of HIMSELF would come up very nicely oh the trouble is it would be in the UK, toooo far for me to go, so for me its back to my collectors type doll, oh well I can dream cant I ; Thank the good Man for all the dvds he makes I read in a magazine that compared him to The Cecil B De Milles' of the dvd world, he surely makes a few, thank God,otherwise what would we do????mind you I like Judiths Idea of riding in one of those coaches, my dream would be for The Great Man to sit opposite me we could have a lovely conversation, you see I do dream don't I
