André Rieu receives this year's 10th Karl medal for European media, the "Médaille Charlemagne pour les Médias Européens".  This was announced by the Aachen Mayor Marcel Philipp, Board of Trustees of the media art known.  The awards ceremony takes place on 6  May 2010 at the Coronation Hall of Aachen's town hall.

André Rieu presents classical music in popular forms with the use of show effects.  So he takes the audience to the threshold of anxiety before the visit, and enjoying a concert of classical art as something elitist.  He realized the concept of "art for all".  He reached through the mediation of European musical tradition, a reflection on common cultural roots of Europe.  With his productions he tears up his audience to applause.  His is a musical language that is understood by every European.
He does this by just uniting nations in Europe and makes an invaluable contribution to the identification of his audience with the European cultural tradition.
