Andre Rieu South Australia Friendship Group September Report
THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN
ANDRE RIEU SUPPORTERS GROUP
September Report

On Monday September 27, 2010, the Sth Australian AR group held our monthly meeting, at our usual venue of the Director's Hotel.
We had 5 apologies; Margaret, Lyla and Terry with illness and wish you all a speedy recovery, Ness has interstate visitors and Judy, work commitments.
Due to the shortage of members we only had 6 at the meeting, but as always, it was most enjoyable. Naturally, the main source of conversation was the cancelation of the concerts. There appears to be mixed feelings as to whether to hold on to the tickets for the deferred concert or get a refund. I think Rob and I will wait for a little while to see if there is any announcement as to the new dates and then make our decision.
I'd tried during the previous week to get a copy of "Midsummer Night's Dream", but was told that even though the DVD had been released a fortnight ago around Australia, for some reason, Sth Australia hadn't received any shipments, but they hoped to get their delivery shortly. I put the DVD on order and the phone call arrived yesterday to say that it had finally come in and I was able to pick it up this morning. Anyone around Sth Aus who have been having trouble buying it prior to today. JB HiFi definitely now have it in store, as should all other stockists, I'd presume.
During lunch, we began watching the DVD and apart from Malcolm, who had to leave early, the rest of us watched it until it's end. A couple of us had seen it at the cinema, when they did the 'live' cross, but the DVD
had much more content than the 'live feed' gave us. For example, DJ Otzi wasn't shown at the cinema, yet he had quite a prominent role in the encores. It worries me that these 'live feeds' may be the way of the
future, yet we only get part of the concert. It quite obviously wasn't a 'live feed', considering the time it was televised, therefore why it was necessary to hold us through the full intermission, only to miss out on most of the encore, makes no sense.
Naturally, we are all saddened by the news of André's continued ill health and wish him a very speedy recovery and look forward to hearing of the dates of his deferred concerts in our country.
We also send him birthday wishes for his 61st on the 1st October.
**NB. For the members of the SAARSG, please be advised that there may not be a meeting in October. I have an oncology appointment on the14th and if I need an operation, it will be on the following Monday, therefore there is no way I will be well enough to hold the meeting. Once I know the situation, I will advise you immediately by either email or letter.**
For any fan living in or around Adelaide, who would like to become part of our very happy, friendly group, please contact me on lyndall.freeman@bigpond.com
The meetings are held on the LAST Monday of each month at the Director's Hotel, 147 Gouger Street, Adelaide, 12.30-2.30. A lunchtime menu of Thai Cuisine is available for lunch at $11.90 which includes a soft drink.

Thank you for your good wishes and prayers. It seems such an eternity away, whilst waiting for prognoses, but I just hope the news will be better than expected. I know your prayers and thoughts are there with me, whatever the outcome.
