December's birthstone will be the blue topaz or turquoise
The blue topaz is a light blue, almost like blue ice, although the name,topaz,
comes from the Sanskrit and means "fire".
There is "sky blue topaz, Swiss blue topaz,London blue topaz, used to refer
to depth of color. Sky blue the lightest, London blue the darkest.

In ancient times, a figure of a falcon was carved on a Topaz was thought to
help acquire the goodwill of kings, princes and magnates.
The ancient Greeks believed that it had the power to increase strength and
make its wearer invisible in times of emergency.
The Greeks felt Topaz gave them strength.
Its mystical curative powers waxed and waned with the phases of the moon: it
was said to cure insomnia, asthma, and hemorrhages.
Wear topaz only if you wish to be clear-sighted: legend has it that it
dispels all enchantment and helps to improve eyesight as well!
Topaz was also said to change color in the presence of poisoned food or
drink.
The turquoise
A sacred stone for the North American Indians as well as the Tibetans, it is
often used by shamans in rituals and ceremonies. It is said to promote mental
and spiritual clarity and expansion and to enhance wisdom, trust , kindness and
understanding.

A very Happy Birthday to Carla Maffioletti. I know you will not remember me but I was the oh so nervous girl standing in line with you for dinner at the Reading, Pa meet and greet. You were so nice to speak with me and I could not believe we were going to have dinner in the same room as the Maestro and JSO. It was a special time in my life.
