Andre Rieu So. Australia Friendship Group Feb. 2011

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN ANDRÉ RIEU FRIENDSHIP GROUP.
On Monday February 28, our group held it's first meeting for the year.
It was only a small gathering, but it felt good to be back.
On a personal and André level, we had much to catch up on, so once the
downloads had been passed around and read, we had a lot to talk about
throughout lunch.
One of the things we spoke about was the story going around that our
golden angel, Mirusia was leaving André and returning back to Australia.
Since the meeting, I've been in touch with Mirusia, who advised me that
it was nothing but a rumour written in a gossip mag. She is taking a
couple of weeks R&R after the Aussie tour, as she felt as though she
needed a bit of a rest, but rest assured, she is most definitely NOT
leaving The Man, which is wonderful news.
Also during the course of the afternoon, I passed around a birthday card
for everyone to sign. Nonagenarian, Lyla, turns 90 next week. She is
being taken to Vanuatu by her daughter and on the actual day of her
birthday, is being treated to a full massage, facial, in fact, every
conceivably luxurious treatment imaginable. Lucky, lucky, lady. She is
such a very dear lady and we wish her a wonderful , wonderful, trip and
birthday
We also wish a very happy birthday to our other members, Terry and Libby
and later this month, Mirusia.
I passed around a postcard, received during February, from our intrepid
traveler Beth, who was, at the time of the postage, buying out the
bargains in Dubai.
The week before we started, I did a TV interview, which was more than
nerve wracking, I have to admit. My special thanks to Mavis for taping
it for me and running off a few copies. Thanks also goes to Terry for
picking them up for us from Mavis and for running off a few extras for
us as well. The interview was shown after our lunch, prior to the DVD of
the day, "Live in Vienna".
As the last Monday in April is Eater Monday, we made the decision to
hold a picnic the following weekend at Para Wirra National Park. At that
stage, we hadn't decided on the Saturday or Sunday, but it will have to
be Saturday April 30, as we have other commitments on that Sunday.
We'll do the same as we did last year, meeting at the Director's to car
pool, for those leaving from the South/west/eastern suburbs. We'll work
out further details at this month's meeting which is on Monday March 28.
It would be of benefit to us to hear early from those, especially those
unable to come to the meeting, to let us have some idea of how many
would be interested in going. Terry has intimated that at that time of
the year, it could be cold and wet, actually, probably not too
dis-similar to last year. He has made the offer of his home if it is too
wet to go to one of the pavilions for lunch.
With the success of last year's picnic, I don't think we'll do anything
different in format, as it all worked well and why try to fix a winning
formula? For those who didn't attend, as there was a real question
regarding the weather on the day, most brought along cold finger food.
We took both BBQ meat as well as cold colations and it turned out to be
fine enough to barbecue.
Where we are situated, we were on an oval, which was near the facilities
as well as hiking tracks and childrens playground. Honey and Peter
brought along their granddaughters, who had a ball.
The beauty of this day is that it is for all the family and any friends
you may wish to bring with you. So hopefully, we'll get a good number of
André fans along.
Repeating again, the next meeting is on Monday March 28, 12.30 at the
Director's Hotel in the city.
Hope to see you there.
Regards
Lyndall and Robert

Dear SA friends,
I am wondering if there is any way a very treasured friend of mine who is 78 could possibly go to the concert in Adelaide. Her name is Florrie Fairclaug, she has never married but looked after her parents until they died then an aunt who she used to puch arounf the streets ( some steep) in a wheelchair.
Florrie knits for charity and has quite a few Andre Rieu Dvds. She cannot afford to go to his concert but I know she would LOVE to. Is there anyway that she would be able to go? Is there any organisation that could help her to go? I would love to be able to afford to take her but cannot afford to go myself.
I leave it with you. Fay.
