Elizabeth Gives A Rose To Andre Rieu

My report on Fantastic concert at Newcastle-upon-tyne Arena on Tuesday 19th February.

Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful. My first Concert and I still haven't come down to earth yet. Andre had a great review in our newspaper and the whole audience joined in the show. I am bursting to tell you however of my wonderful experience even before the show. I had everything all ready then Kay sent me a message to say she had learned that Andre would be arriving at Newcastle airport on a private flight from Maastricht at 2.30. My husband took me to the airport in the afternoon . I took with me a single red rose that I had bought that morning to give to Andre after the concert, and wore my Andre scarf. when we got to the airport two of Andre's touring coaches were standing by the arrivals doors. so we just stood around there out of the way, one of the drivers came over and told us that the flight was late leaving Maastricht but they would keep us informed. a while later that same driver came back and told us 2 minutes, I managed to get quite a few pictures of various members of the orchestra,.... and then........... and then..........out walks Andre's body guard with Pierre and the Man himself close behind.  The body gaurd saw me and smiled so I took that as an o.k. and I walked up to Andre, Pierre was all smiles, I said to Andre welcome to Newcastle we are so pleased you could make it this time and we will look forward to seeing you at the concert tonight. Andre said, "thank you, thank you very much, it was nice of you to come", then I walked away from him in a trance, not believing what I had just done.

After paying at the parking machine we had to walk past the tour coach back to the car park. Pierre and Kirsten were in the front of the coach and I got a lovely smile and a "thumbs up" from Pierre. you will see on one of the pictures that Andre was still holding the rose that I gave him.
The Rose is my favourite violin solo played by Andre and now it is a lovely memory of something extra special that I will never forget.
we are looking forward to Maastricht all the more now. Thank you for reading this. love to all........ Elizabeth.

This is a lovely story you posted Elizabeth.
I think Andre has started shopping for clothes at the same place Bela has been using...

These are some of the best photos I've seen of the musicians, simply being themselves & out of costume

CONGRATULATION on being at the right place, at the right time, & knowing how to operate your camera to capture these grrreat photos.

You've apparently watched DVD's enough to recognize the musicians in street clothes otherwise you wouldn't have known enough to take their picture.

What kind of camera do you have?  Are you a professional photographer?

Looking at the top photo, looking at the people from right to left:
    Klaartje Polman (Viola)
    Arthur Cordewener (Oboe)
    Manoe Koning (Clarinet
& just about every other musical instrument that exists)
    Andre
unable to identify the person on the left.

hello Bill and thankyou for your kind comments, I am certainly not a professional photographer Bill, in fact was so bad that my husband bought me a small Fugifilm point and shoot digital camera for a christmas present,I was able to recognise the orchestra members through dvds, 22 at last count,I wish we had had time to stay at the airport a little longer for I missed quite a few orchestra members, Stephanie, and Frank and Cord Myers and Franco and rene and roger, Ruud(trombone player).
but if I had waited any longer I would have not made it back home to change and back for the concert, I saw all of those players there so was more than satisfied with that.We are so much looking forward to Maastricht now in 10 weeks time. thankyou again Elizabeth.
