Marc Rieu's Art Exhibition In Maastricht
Every year for the last few years André Rieu's Son Marc has been in Maastricht during the time of Andre's concerts to exhibit his beautiful works of art. Hanne Jager organizes this for the fans and always has invited me to come and see Marc's paintings. I cannot get there again but for those of you who will be in Maastricht this year a wonderful opportunity to see and perhaps buy one of Marc's paintings exists through Hanne's efforts.
About Marc
Who am I
My name is Marc Rieu and on the 1st of November 1978, I was born in Maastricht, one of the most beautiful cities in Holland.
My passion for painting began as early as 1990, the Vincent van Gogh year. I saw a wonderful television series during the last year of primary school. Besides a rising interest in painting, another wish came up: after finishing high school, I would love to study history of art.
Studies
In 1990, I immediately began drawing- and painting lessons under the supervision of a Maastricht artist, with whom I had several years education.
1998, I started my studies "History of Art and Archeology"in Nijmegen; I finished this in 2006 with a Bachelor Degree, writing a thesis about two landscape painters of the 19th century (Caspar David Friedrich and Johan Christian Dahl).
Future
“Yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift – that’s why we call it the present!” I love this quote!
I simply don´t know what the future will bring to me, but I hope I can still make paintings for a long time. I also hope I can share this passion with many people.
Let me take you to my world of dreams... to my fantasies... translated to the white canvas with acrylic and oil paint.

I really admire Marc's paintings, landscapes have always been a favorite of mine.He does especially well the water or sea ones.As I look at these I'm reminded of the music of Josef Strauss, Watercolor waltz.
