Andre Rieu Awarded Gold Medal Of Republic Of Austria
André awarded with Gold Medal of the Republic of Austria!
Sun 03 Jul 2011
Yesterday we were in the Belvedere, one of Vienna's most beautiful palaces. André was there to receive a most prestigious award: the Golden Honorary Medal of the Republic of Austria! To his surprise, his friend Sir Anthony Hopkins traveled to Vienna to attend the ceremony.
André and the orchestra performed a small concert where we took the opportunity to play the very first performance of the waltz "And the waltz goes on" by Sir Hopkins. Look at the preview video at andrerieu.com.
(or on the our blog page)
But André had also another special surprise for his Viennese audience. He composed a brand new waltz: The 'Wiener Festwalzer'! Both pieces will be on our new cd! The album will be released this autumn.
You can imagine we all had a marvelous evening here in Vienna!!

It is great hearing and seeing all the news about Andre. Thanks for keeping the fans up on all the news about our idol. With love and God Bless
It couldn't happen to a more deserving person. It makes me happy when he's awarded with these special awards. Andre brings more happiness to more people and he does it from the heart.
His music has touched so many lives and I think this is very special.
Congratulations Andre!
Thank you, Jeanine Ann, for being so diligent & ALWAYS keeping us up-to-date, on the latest Andre news
