Classical chart topper André Rieu (pictured above) will be performing live in Blackpool later this month – at the Odeon!
The renowned Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu is the world’s most successful male touring artist, beating the likes of Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC and Coldplay to the number one spot for attendance figures.
In 2010 he played to over 100,000 adoring fans in the UK, so if you missed him on tour, now you can take a front row seat and see him on the big screen at the Odeon as he performs in his hometown, Maastricht in The Netherlands on Saturday, July 23.
Each year André holds a series of concerts in Maastricht with thousands of fans flying from all over the world to witness this incredible music event set against the dramatic backdrop of Maastricht’s beautiful town square.
As always, André will conduct his famous Johann Strauss Orchestra and also performing this year will be the Harlem Gospel Choir, the Soweto Gospel Choir and Russian musicians, The St Petersburg Trio.
World famous actor Sir Anthony Hopkins will be a special guest at the concerts and has composed a waltz titled, And The Waltz Will Go On which will be performed especially for the occasion.
André said: “It fills me with great joy to be able to share my favourite concert of the year, live from my hometown in Maastricht with all of my friends in the UK.
“It is going to be a magical evening with some very special guests. Come and enjoy the music on the big screen in the comfort of your local cinema.”
Tickets can be booked online at odeon.co.uk or by visiting the Odeon Blackpool box office.
André Rieu’s UK profile took off after he and his orchestra appeared at the Royal Variety Show staged in Blackpool at the Opera House.
Thanks to Deirdre for finding this story

dear sally ,
i was wondring if you could ask andre to produce" the precious moments" taken from the film" sea wolves" also "dangerous moonlight"from the film"the warsaw concerto"
If it is the show that wa recorded on the 15th July, you will not be disappointed, it was magic!
I know it seems to get advertised as live, (as did last years) but I think 'recorded as live' is more accurate
Hi Steve, thank you so much. If they put it on DVD I cannot wait to see it. Next year I will be there (God willing). Take care and many hugs to you.
Can anyone use two free tickets for tonight at Empire Leicester Square for live concert transmission from Maastricht? Gutted to have won them but my mother is ill and I can't go.
welcome
The steadicam man had a hard job, the camera and gear must have weighed a ton, and he kept getting in the way, but we let him off
I managed to see a little of the concert that was shwon in cinemas on You Tube (naughty!) and it looks like Andre was speaking in English, so if this is the case, when cinema live were recording on the Friday (15th) with Sir Anthony Hopkins, it must have been for somehting different, yet Sir Hopkins left Maastricht on the 16th !
You know, I was convinced that the Friday concert was the one going into the cinemas!
(or maybe they were recording for the DVD !!! ? if there will be one)
