See Andre Rieu Live On The Big Screen

See Rieu live on the big screen
CAINE EDWARDS | July 22nd, 2011
Sir Anthony Hopkins And Andre Rieu.
DARWIN audiences and lovers of classical music can once again be part of the spectacle that is an Andre Rieu concert performance.
On Sunday at CMax Cinemas Palmerston and Birch Carroll & Coyle Cinema Casuarina, viewers will receive a live stream of one of Rieu's concert series performances from his home town of Maastricht in The Netherlands.
Hailed a genius by some and an excessively flamboyant show-pony by others, it cannot be doubted his credentials are solid.
Considered one of the finest violinists alive, Rieu, 61, is also one of the world's most successful touring artists.
Last year The King of Waltz sold more concert tickets than any other male artist internationally.
His concert series in The Netherlands draws fans from all over the world and this year's audiences are in for a special treat.
Performing with his famous Johann Strauss Orchestra is the multi-Grammy award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir.
It amazed Darwin crowds at the Entertainment Centre in May and continues to blow audiences away worldwide.
Actor Sir Anthony Hopkins makes a special guest appearance, and has composed a waltz entitled And the Waltz Will Go On just for the occasion.
Also showing is one of Opera Australia's much-loved productions, Rigoletto.
Rieu said of the Cinema Live broadcast that it "fills him with joy" to share the concert from his home town with audiences in Australia.
"Come and enjoy the music on the big screen in the comfort of your local cinema," he said.
Andre Rieu LIVE in Maastricht, The Netherlands

Birch Carroll & Coyle Casuarina - 10.30am and 2.30pm

This is wonderful news for most, but unfortunately South Africa is last in the queue with this privileg - I believe we will not be able to see it on big screen. Well, may a bit later... we hope so. Thanks for the post Jeanine! Marianne
